WACO, Texas (AP) — Sawyer Robertson threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns as Baylor won its sixth straight to keep alive its slim hopes for a berth in the Big 12 championship game, beating Kansas 45-17 on Saturday.

The Bears (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) scored touchdowns on three consecutive possessions in the first half to take a 21-7 lead, then found the end zone on all three of their drives in the third quarter.

Bryson Washington ran for 192 yards on 27 carries that included a 10-yard TD run and punching in from the 1 in the second half for Baylor.

Kansas (5-7, 4-5) entered on a three-game winning streak — all against ranked teams — to be in position for bowl eligibility with a win. But the Jayhawks had no answers for Baylor’s offensive.

Baylor, which started 0-3 in league play, had to wait for the outcomes of games later Saturday. Arizona had to beat Arizona State, Kansas State had to beat Iowa State and Houston had to beat BYU for the Bears to get into next week's conference title game.

Robertson was 23-for-31 passing, with TDs of 36- and 39-yards to Monaray Baldwin in the first quarter before a 14-yard score to Josh Cameron in the second. Baldwin caught seven passes for 119 yards, and Cameron added eight receptions for 102.

Devin Neal ran for 133 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries for Kansas. Jalon Daniels was 12-of-23 passing for 280 yards passing, and had two passes intercepted by Baylor safety Devyn Bobby.

Kansas: The Jayhawks rarely had issues moving the ball in the first half. Despite trailing 21-10 at intermission, the Jayhawks had outgained Baylor 301-283. Their problems came with holding onto the ball and scoring when they had the chance. Tabor Allen missed a 38-yard field goal to end the Jayhawks’ first possession, and they had promising drives end on a Daniels interception and Tevita Noa fumble after a 39-yard reception.

Baylor: The Bears made a remarkable turnaround in the second half of the season. They began the year with coach Dave Aranda’s future considered tenuous at best, and a 2-4 start only made calls for him to be replaced louder. But Aranda and Baylor haven’t lost since Oct. 5 against Iowa State.

Baylor had to wait to see when and where it will play its next game.

The 37-point loss tied for the fifth largest in the modern era (1945-Pr.). It also marked the first 30-point loss since Feb. 9, 2020 at Houston. Wichita State (6-1) has dropped its last five MTE championship games and last nine games against ranked opponents.

Matej Bosnjak scored a team-high 11 points and Xavier Bell added 10.

Harlond Beverly was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Wichita State set season lows in points (51), field goals made (17), field goal percentage (30%), total rebounds (30) and rebound margin (minus-26). Florida's 20 offensive rebounds were the most by an opponent this season.

The Gators knocked down a season-high 14 three-pointers (14-for-33).

Florida turned a three-point game into a 19-point halftime lead, 37-18. The Gators held Wichita State scoreless for the final 5:55, closing the half on a 16-0 run.

Wichita State's 18 first half points were a season low, as they were just 6-of-32 from the field with seven turnovers. Florida dominated the glass, outrebounding Wichita State by 12, including nine offensive rebounds.

Out of halftime Florida kept the foot on the gas, scoring the first 10 points and never looked back. They led by as many as 48 in the second half.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs recovered a botched snap while the Las Vegas Raiders were within range of a go-ahead field goal with 15 seconds remaining on Friday, preserving a 19-17 victory for Kansas City and giving the franchise its 10th consecutive playoff berth.

The Raiders (2-10) had taken over at their own 8-yard line with just under two minutes to go, and Aidan O’Connell quickly moved them across midfield, eventually spiking the ball at the Kansas City 32 to stop the clock.

Rather than try a potential winning field goal — Daniel Carlson had already missed three from 50-plus — the Raiders lined up to run a play. Andre James snapped the ball when O’Connell wasn’t expecting it and it bounced off the quarterback’s shoulder. Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton jumped on the ball, and the recovery stood when a flag on the play turned out to be an illegal shift by the Raiders.

It was the 14th consecutive game decided by one possession that Kansas City (11-1) has won.

The Raiders had a chance earlier in the fourth quarter, and O’Connell similarly drove them across midfield. But the Chiefs forced three straight incomplete passes — George Karlaftis and Justin Reid batted down two — to bring up fourth down. Carlson headed onto the field, but his 58-yard try with 2:21 never got near the uprights.

Patrick Mahomes had 306 yards passing and a TD for Kansas City, while fill-in kicker Matt Wright made four field goals.

O’Connell finished with 340 yards passing and two touchdowns for the Raiders, who have lost eight of nine to their bitter AFC West rivals. Brock Bowers had 10 catches for 140 yards and one of the scores.

The hapless Raiders were able to hang around thanks to the same problems that have plagued the Chiefs much of the season: Their offensive tackles were unable to give Mahomes time to throw, their secondary kept breaking down and they committed too many penalties — three on one offensive possession alone.

In fact, Mahomes was under extreme duress when he found Justin Watson from 6 yards out late in the first half. The pass not only gave the Chiefs a 10-3 lead but sent the two-time MVP past Len Dawson with his franchise-record 328th TD throw.

O’Connell, who was thrust back onto the field when Gardner Minshew went on injured reserve with a broken collarbone this week, got off to a slow start after missing a month with a broken thumb. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — DeMarvion Overshown returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown, Rico Dowdle ran for a score in his first career 100-yard game and the Dallas Cowboys held on for a 27-20 Thanksgiving Day victory over the New York Giants. Cooper Rush threw a TD pass, and Dowdle finished with 112 yards. The Cowboys ended a six-game home losing streak going back to a wild-card loss to Green Bay last season. Drew Lock started in place of the injured Tommy DeVito and lost a fumble after Overshown's dynamic pick-6 in a seventh consecutive loss for the Giants. New York's eighth consecutive loss to Dallas also eliminated the Giants from playoff contention..

Lions extend win streak to 10 games, hold off Bears for 23-20 victory

DETROIT (AP) — Jared Goff threw two touchdown passes to Sam LaPorta, Jake Bates made three field goals in the first half and the Detroit Lions held off the Chicago Bears 23-20 to extend their winning streak to 10 games. The Lions snapped a seven-game losing streak on Thanksgiving. The Bears had the ball in Lions territory late in the game with a chance to drive for a game-tying field goal or go-ahead touchdown, but they blew the opportunity. Caleb Williams threw an incomplete pass as time expired from the Detroit 41 after being sacked with about 30 seconds left, allowing time to run off the clock even though Chicago had one more timeout.

San Jose State is disappointed Boise State forfeited but looks forward to volleyball final

LAS VEGAS (AP) — San Jose State says it's disappointed that Boise State forfeited its semifinal match in the Mountain West women's volleyball tournament but is focused on the future. Boise State pulled out of the conference tournament Wednesday night after securing a spot in Friday's semifinals against the Spartans earlier that day. The Broncos didn't announce explicitly say why they withdrew. But a lawsuit was recently filed in Colorado by players from various schools against the conference and San Jose State officials calling for a Spartans player not to be allowed to participate in the tournament. They cited unspecified reports asserting there was a transgender player on the San Jose State volleyball team. San Jose State has not confirmed the school has a trans women's volleyball player.

Why did Iga Swiatek get a one-month doping ban? What did she test positive for?

Iga Swiatek is the second high-profile tennis player to test positive for a banned substance this year. Her case follows that of Jannik Sinner, currently the No. 1 ranked man. He was fully cleared. Swiatek, who slid from No. 1 to No. 2 last month, accepted a one-month suspension that was announced Thursday. The International Tennis Integrity Agency said it determined that Swiatek's tainted urine sample was because of a contaminated medicine she took and so she bore a low level of responsibility. The head of the ITIA said these were not cases of intentional doping and so she does not think they are cause for concern among tennis fans.

Lions injured DE Aidan Hutchinson surprises 20-year-old Marine with 4 tickets to game against Bears

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Jacob Rinehart, who was injured while training to be a Marine, was surprised recently when Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson knocked on his door and gave him four tickets to the Thanksgiving game against the Chicago Bears. Rinehart watched warmups at Ford Field in Detroit on Thursday morning along the sideline, where team owner Sheila Ford Hamp told him he had two tickets for the Super Bowl and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown stopped by to autograph his jersey.

Desrosiers scores 3 TDs as Memphis tops No. 18 Tulane 34-24 to end the Green Wave's faint CFP hopes

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Greg Desrosiers Jr. caught two scoring passes and ran for a touchdown, and Memphis defeated No. 18 Tulane 34-24 to knock the Green Wave out of contention for a berth in the College Football Playoff. While Tulane was not likely to make the new 12-team CFP, it had to win its regular-season finale and next week's conference title game to have any chance. Instead, the Green Wave turned the ball over three times deep in Memphis territory as their streak of regular-season conference victories ended at 17. Memphis' Mario Anderson Jr. rushed for 177 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown. Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah passed for 317 yards and two scores and was intercepted once.

Bill Battle, former Tennessee coach and Alabama AD who founded licensing company, dies

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Bill Battle III, who was athletic director at his alma mater, Alabama, where he played for Paul "Bear" Bryant's first national championship team, coached the Tennessee Volunteers and also founded the Collegiate Licensing Company, has died. He was 82. Alabama released a statement Thursday saying that Battle had died. No details were provided. Athletic director Greg Byrne said in a statement it's tough to put into words just what Battle means to the Crimson Tide and college athletics as a whole as a true visionary. Battle made Condredge Holloway the first Black quarterback to start for any Southeastern Conference team, which Holloway did for Tennessee in 1972. Battle also founded the Collegiate Licensing Company and was president and CEO until 2002.

Female racing pioneer 'Motorcycle Mary' McGee dies a day before documentary on her is released

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) — Female racing pioneer Mary McGee has died at the age of 87. Her family says McGee died of complications from a stroke at her home in Gardnerville, Nevada, on Wednesday, the day before a documentary on her career was released globally. "Motorcycle Mary" was released Thursday on ESPN's YouTube channel. Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton was an executive producer on the film. Its premiere was at the Tribeca Festival in June. McGee had an accomplished racing resume, first in auto racing and later in motorcycle racing. She became the first person — man or woman — to complete solo the grueling Baja 500 off-road race in Mexico. She did that in 1975.

Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek accepts a one-month suspension in doping case

The International Tennis Integrity Agency says five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek has accepted a one-month suspension after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine. That is a heart medication known as TMZ. The ITIA says Swiatek failed an out-of-competition drug test in August, and it accepted her explanation that the result was unintentional and caused by the contamination of a nonprescription medication, melatonin, that Swiatek was taking for issues with jet lag and sleeping. It was determined her level of fault was "at the lowest end of the range for no significant fault or negligence," according to the ITIA.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs activated running back Isiah Pacheco and defensive end Charles Omenihu on Thursday, and both are expected to be on the field when the Super Bowl champions play the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday.

Pacheco, who has been the lead running back the past three seasons, has been on injured reserve since Week 2, when he fractured his right fibula against Cincinnati. Pacheco has been practicing for the past couple of weeks, but the Chiefs had been cautious in getting their all-energy running back ready to play.

Pacheco had only carried 34 times for 135 yards and a touchdown before getting hurt.

The Chiefs signed Kareem Hunt shortly after Pacheco went down, and the veteran running back has been solid in his place. But with complementary skill sets, Pacheco and Hunt are expected to form a backfield tandem similar to what Hunt experienced in Cleveland with Nick Chubb the past few years.

“The best part about that is you don’t have just one where he’s getting worn down, to where he’s 50 or 60 percent in the third quarter. Now you have two that are working at 100 percent,” Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said. “When they’re up and running, we feel pretty strong about who they are and how much they can help us, and we’re excited about it.”

Omenihu has not been on the field since tearing his right ACL in the playoffs last year. But he was a disruptive force in 11 regular-season games last season, piling up seven sacks to go with 12 quarterback pressures.

Omenihu’s return should help a pass rush whose 21 sacks are better than only four other teams in the NFL.

“Charles’ versatility, going inside and out, adds another level of depth to our defense, especially the D-line,” Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones said. “And he’s a pass rusher. It’s always good to get more pass rushers on the field.”

As expected, the Chiefs ruled out fill-in kicker Spencer Shrader — who had been replacing the injured Harrison Butker — after he strained his hamstring earlier in the week. Matthew Wright will handle kicking duties against the Raiders.

“We all have trust in him from having been around him,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, “so we look forward to welcoming him into the mix. I know guys know him and have made him, I think, feel that way coming back here. Full trust in him.”

The Chiefs also promoted tight end Anthony Firkser from the practice squad after putting Peyton Hendershot on injured reserve.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. –&nbsp;Wichita State and Minnesota needed every bit of the 45 minutes played on Thanksgiving to decide a winner in the opening game of the ESPN Events Invitational, as the Shockers came out on top in overtime, 68-66.

Wichita State (6-0) will play the winner of Florida and Wake Forest tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. 

The Shockers are 6-0 for the first time since 2019 and 13th in program history.

Trailing by three in the final seconds of regulation,&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/harlond-beverly/9059">Harlond Beverly</a>&nbsp;received a pass on the left wing, took one dribble to his left and cashed in a game-tying three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left.

Beverly led all scorers with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting.&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/corey-washington/9068">Corey Washington</a>&nbsp;added 13 points and seven rebounds before fouling out with 5:01 left in regulation. The ball hit every part of the rim before falling off, allowing all of Shocker Nation to exhale.

Wichita State held Minnesota to 3-of-23 shooting from beyond the arc. The Gophers were able to grab 13 offensive rebounds and outrebounded the Shockers by four. Both teams finished with 12 turnovers, but Minnesota outscored Wichita State 18-8 in points off turnovers.

The Shockers took a one-point lead into halftime behind a low-scoring first half, 25-24. Neither team led by more than five during the entire game, while also featuring 10 ties and 10 lead changes.

Minnesota grabbed its first lead of the second half with 9:02 to go and would not trail again until overtime.

With 2:34 left in regulation, Minnesota grabbed its largest lead, 55-50. A Bell score cut it to 55-52 and then Beverly made it a one-point game with 12 seconds remaining. Following a Wichita State timeout, the Shockers immediately fouled Isaac Asuma. Asuma calmly knocked down both free throws to give the Gophers a 57-54 lead, setting the scene for Beverly's heroics.

🏀 Shockers beat Gophers in overtime

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College athletic director Josh Gooch joins Sean Boston during halftime of the men's basketball game on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Gooch discusses the NJCAA football semifinal, plus KSHSAA state football.

The Blue Dragons are the No. 3 seed in the NJCAA playoffs and will travel to Milledgeville, Ga. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3:30 p.m. EST/2:30 p.m. CST. The game will be televised on ESPN+, as well as on the flagship station for Blue Dragon athletics, KHUT-FM (102.9) with Sean Boston and Daren Dunn.

Hill's tickets for careless driving and failing to wear a seat belt were dismissed after the Miami-Dade Police officers failed to show up for a Monday hearing. The tickets were issued after Hill was stopped outside Hard Rock Stadium for allegedly speeding before the Dolphins' season opener on Sept. 8. The stop escalated and an officer pulled Hill from the car, forced him to the ground and handcuffed him.

MANHATTAN, Kan. — For the seventh time in her career and third time this season, K-State graduate outside hitter Aliyah Carter has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

Carter, a native of Dubuque, Iowa, repeats as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and sets the K-State record for most career offensive weekly honors to surpass two-time All-American Kaitlynn Pelger (2010-13). With her five Big 12 Rookie of the Week titles in 2020, Carter has received a program record 12 weekly awards, which is seventh most all-time in league history.

Last week, Carter totaled 38 points to reach career point No. 2,000 in her 129th match in a Wildcat uniform to become the first player to reach the milestone in the rally-scoring era and second overall in program history.

Against in-state rival Kansas, Carter totaled a match-high 24 kills to register her 26th career outing with 20 or more kills. She added 13 digs to complete her 33rd career double-double.

Her average of 5.00 kills per set last week led all Big 12 players, while she finished second in points per set (5.43). Now with 1,813 career kills, Carter is one of five Power 4 student-athletes with at least 1,800 kills.

The 2020 Big 12 and AVCA Midwest Region Freshman of the Year currently ranks second in the Big 12 in six offensive categories: kills per set (4.42), total kills (429), points per set (4.79), total points (465.0), attacks per set (12.65) and total attacks (1,227). Her 12.65 attacks per set ranks sixth nationally across Division I while she currently ranks 25th overall in kills per set.

The Wildcats (10-15, 8-8 Big 12) will head west down I-70 on Wednesday afternoon to take on Colorado (12-16, 5-11 Big 12) in the first meeting between the two squads since 2010. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT at the CU Events Center.

K-State will host No. 24 BYU Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Morgan Family Arena and honor six players as part of its annual Senior Day celebration. Seniors include Carter, Meg Brown, Liz Gregorski, Ella Larkin, Molly Ramsey and Izzi Szulczewski.

Zeke Mayo added 12 points for Kansas (6-0), and Dickinson and AJ Storr each scored 11.

Tyrese Proctor led Duke (4-2) with 15 points, Flagg scored 13, Kon Knueppel had 11 and Sion James finished with 10.

Mayo put Kansas ahead for good when he made a jumper with 1:57 left for a 73-71 lead. Flagg hit a free throw for Duke and Rylan Griffen answered with two foul shots with 2 seconds left.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team pulled off a thrilling 81-80 win over Colby on Tuesday at the Sports Arena. 

The Blue Dragons trailed Colby late in the second half, but Hutch rattled off 18 points in the final 1:38 to pick up the win and send the Sports Arena into a frenzy.

DJ Dudley was fouled after tying the game at 80 with 2.3 seconds to play. The sophomore knocked down the free throw to complete the three-point play and give Hutchinson (6-3, 2-1 KJCCC) the lead. Dudley finished with a game-high and a new career-high 29 points.

The Blue Dragons got back-to-back three-pointers knocked down by Jaquez Thornton, one coming with 14 seconds to play to pull within 77-75, and the other coming to pull Hutch within 79-78 with 8.5 seconds left.

Colby (6-3, 1-2) knocked down one of two free throw attempts with 7.4 seconds left to go up 80-78. Thornton drove 80 feet before dishing off a tough pass underneath to Dudley, who went up-and-under to convert the would-be game-winner.

The Blue Dragons were outrebounded in the win, 43-30, but still found a way.

Khalil Arnold provided a spark in the second half, scoring all 14 of his points in the final 20 minutes. Bobby Cannon had 12, while Thornton finished with 11 points and six assists.

Eternity Eguagie led the Trojans with 22 points, while Galus Meowuru M'Ella had 19.

The Blue Dragons will travel to Independence on Saturday to face the Pirates. Tipoff time is 4 p.m. from the ICC Fieldhouse. 🏀 Dudley delivers Dragon win in final seconds

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 1 ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team opened up a big first half lead and never looked back in a 75-37 win over Colby on Tuesday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons led 22-9 after the first quarter, but that lead would grow exponentially in the second quarter.&nbsp;

Colby scored the first two points of the period, but Hutchinson scored the final 19 points in the quarter to lead 41-11 at halftime.

Hailey Jackson led the way once again for the Blue Dragons, finishing with 24 points and 14 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season and seventh of her career. The 14 rebounds ties her career-high. Jackson knocked down all 10 of her free throw attempts in the win.

Katie Duncan finished with a career-high 12 points, knocking down three three-point field goals. Landon Forbes and Dylan Alexander each had 10 points.

Hutchinson (9-0, 3-0 KJCCC) knocked down a season-high 11 three-point shots. HutchCC finished 16 of 19 at the foul stripe.

Colby (6-3, 1-2) was led by Jera Kruleski with eight points. The Trojans turned the ball over 23 times in the loss.

Hutchinson has now won 46 consecutive games overall, and 31 straight Jayhawk Conference games.

🏀 No. 1 HutchCC dominates Colby in Sports Arena 

DESTIN, Fla. –&nbsp;Missouri led wire-to-wire, defeating the Shockers, 85-57, in the second round of the Emerald Coast Classic Tuesday evening in Raider Arena.

Five Tigers finished in double figures, led by Ashton Judd with 22 as Missouri improved to 6-3 and Wichita State fell to 2-5.

<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/taylor-jameson/9003">Taylor Jameson</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/kp-parr/9002">KP Parr</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/jasmine-peaks/9016">Jasmine Peaks</a>&nbsp;led the Shockers in scoring with nine apiece, and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/ella-anciaux/8994">Ella Anciaux</a>&nbsp;grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Missouri out-rebounded the Shockers 44-30 and shot 33-for-65 (.508) from the field.

Wichita State shot just 16-for-49 (.327) from the field and 4-for-17 (.235) from behind the arc, and the Tigers scored 21 points off 18 Shocker turnovers.

After struggling from the charity stripe early in the season, Wichita State recorded its second-straight game at or above 75 percent from the line, shooting 21-for-28 (.750).

Missouri led by as many as 17 in the first half as Wichita State struggled from the field, shooting just 7-for-25 (.280) in the half, but the Shockers hit 16 of 20 free throws, including three from Peaks in the final seconds of the half. 

Jameson shot 100 percent from the field and from the free throw line in the first half to score all nine of her points.
