MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State will be without tailback Dylan Edwards for Saturday’s game against North Dakota because of a left ankle injury, according to a report from ESPN.
The Derby native is also considered doubtful for the Wildcats’ Sept. 6 matchup with Army, the report said.
Edwards appeared to suffer the injury during Kansas State’s season-opening loss to Iowa State in Dublin, Ireland. He was hit after a fumbled punt return in the first quarter and did not return to the game.
Coach Chris Klieman said Tuesday that X-rays on Edwards’ ankle were negative, calling the news a “positive” sign for his eventual return.
Edwards was a key piece of the Wildcats’ offense last season, averaging 7.4 yards per carry. He finished with eight touchdowns — five rushing, two receiving and one on a punt return.
