Mitchel Lee Allmon, age 98, died on July 30, 2024. He was born on October 4, 1925, in Campbell, Texas, the second of three children born to Norman and Mary Allmon. Mitch grew up on a farm near Lovington, New Mexico. When Mitch was 17, he moved to San Francisco for a year to work as a welder at a naval shipyard, building WWII troop transport ships.

In 1944, when Mitch was 18, he was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was trained in communications and learned to code and decode telephone and radio messages. He served in the South Pacific in the 1st Marine Division, including time in Guadalcanal, and ultimately fought in the Battle of Okinawa. He waded ashore Okinawa on April 1, 1945, amid mass casualties. He was in Okinawa approximately three months and accompanied the Company Commander while carrying a 35-pound communications radio. When the war ended, Mitch served another 9 months as part of the U.S. Marine Corps occupation of China. He was Honorably Discharged as a Sargeant on August 13, 1946, which he always referred to as his “lucky day”.

After returning from the war, Mitch attended Central College in McPherson, KS. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary “Joyce” Wester. They shared an instant bond and married soon after on April 4, 1949.

While in college, Mitch and two other “GI’s”, Ed Pyle and Larry Clark, started building houses in 1948. The three formed Pyle Construction Company, and they worked together until Mitch retired in 1991. Mitch was initially a finish carpenter but as the business grew, he became a Superintendent and oversaw the building of hundreds of homes, and more than 400 churches, banks, schools, and various types of commercial construction.&nbsp;

Mitch was a man of few words, but his kindness, and generosity with his time, talents, and resources were his trademark. With his construction experience, Mitch had the ability to repair, remodel, or build almost anything, from small projects to large. He used these skills to help others and volunteered for countless projects at his church, Central College, Craftsman for Christ, mission trips, and Habitat for Humanity, where he volunteered into his nineties. He was the “Servant Leader Award” recipient in 2013 at Central College for all his contributions to the college. Mitch was a member of the McPherson Free Methodist Church for over 70 years and served on the Board of Trustees, as an usher, and as a youth group leader.

Mitch deeply loved his family and made family activities and travel a priority. This often involved packing up the station wagon and hand crafted “pop-up” camper and heading to one of the coasts or boating on an area lake. In their retirement, RVing across the country was a highlight for Mitch and Joyce. Mitch was always proud of the 118,000 miles they traveled in their motorhome.

Mitch and Joyce resided in McPherson throughout their 74-year marriage. They lived in the house they built in 1955 until May 2023, when they moved to assisted living at The Cedars in McPherson. Mitch and Joyce shared a special love and devotion to each other and ultimately just wanted more time together. Joyce died in August 2023. Mitch is survived by his children Garry (Linda) Allmon, Sharon Allmon, Jeff (Rick Tyler) Allmon, and Rhonda (Leigh) Ramsdale, and grandchildren Tom Allmon, Jamie Marr, Ashley Allmon, Bryan Ramsdale, Courtney Ramsdale, and five great-grandchildren.

Daniel Steven Christensen, 68, formerly of Florida and McPherson, KS, passed away on July 9, 2024, at his residence in Springfield, MO.&nbsp;

Daniel was born February 15, 1956, the loving son of Howard E. “Chris” and Carol “Sue” (Matlack) Christensen.&nbsp; During his youth years, he was a member of the McPherson First Baptist Church.&nbsp; Daniel graduated from McPherson High School in 1974, attended Fort Hays University, and then continued in Job Corps, becoming a certified painter.&nbsp;

Following Job Corps, he returned to McPherson, KS and started working for a contractor who was building the Sterling Drug facility.&nbsp; During the next two summers (in the 1980s), he left to work at Yellowstone Park in Montana.&nbsp; It was there that he met a girl and followed her to Florida.&nbsp; He continued painting in Florida, painting signs and getting into screen process painting. During this time, he encountered computers.&nbsp; He then continued his education at Manatee State College in Florida and received Associate and Technical Degrees in computer programming.&nbsp; He stayed at Manatee State College working in the communications department and taught beginning computer classes.&nbsp; Following retirement from the college, he began working for a company editing computer school books. He then moved to Missouri in the fall of 2023, wanting to be closer to Kansas.

Daniel was an excellent guitar player, an avid reader, and he was an enthusiastic bicyclist.

Survivors include his mother, Sue Christensen of McPherson, KS; a sister, Darla (Shawn) Phillips of Wichita, KS; a brother, Neil Christensen of St. Louis, MO; niece and nephew, Katie Christensen of McPherson, KS and Erik Christensen of St. Louis, MO; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard “Chris” Christensen.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the New Gottland Covenant Church with Pastor Dan Parry officiating.&nbsp;

Susan L. Corn, 69, of Inman, died July 26, 2024, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was born March 15, 1955, in Ellsworth, to Fred and Edith (Meador) Corn.&nbsp;

Susan graduated from Bushton High School in 1973 and obtained her associates degree from Kansas State University in 1975. She enjoyed volunteering at Living Independently in Northwest Kansas Inc. (LINK Inc.) in Hays. Susan worked for 10 years at LINK as a resource librarian serving people with disabilities. In 1999, Susan received the J.C. Penney Gold Rule Award for her work with LINK, which is an award given to encourage and support volunteer service in the community.&nbsp;

Susan was also a devoted member of United Methodist Church of Bushton.&nbsp;

As Susan’s health deteriorated, she was a resident of Pleasant View Home in Inman. There she found a caring family that supported her needs. Susan’s family would like to thank everyone at Pleasant View Home for their support, care, and concern. She loved her extended family and her room was covered with photos of nieces, nephews, and the “grands” that joined the family. A highlight of the year for Susan was the “Corn Christmas” and the excitement of all the little ones.&nbsp;

Susan is survived by: brother, Roger (Deanne) Corn, Lindsborg; sister, Carolyn (Rollin) Abernethy, Laramie Wyoming; sister-in-law, Sheila Corn, Inman; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Corn.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, 108 N. Walnut St., Inman with chaplain Michael D’Alessio officiating. Private family burial will take place at Bushton Cemetery, Bushton, KS.&nbsp;

William (Bill) James Lohmeyer, age 84, of Hutchinson, KS and Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on the evening of July 25, 2024 in Murfreesboro. Bill was born in Wichita, KS on August 24, 1939.  

Bill was married to the late Pat Thomas of Halstead, KS. They had four children, Terri, Michael, Susan, Jim and five grandchildren. Bill later married Janet Goering of Hutchinson and they were married for 37 years, until Janet's passing in 2015.

On March 19, 2016, Bill married Palma Mitzel, of Sun City, AZ. Palma is the mother of Angela (Michael), Alan (Yvonne), Anthony (Alison), and Sam (Arica). Bill and Palma later relocated back to Hutchinson, KS and Murfreesboro, TN to be closer to family.

Bill is survived by his wife Palma, son Jim (Vickie), daughter Susan, brother Art, step-daughter Amy, step-son Peter, step-daughter Angela and step-sons, Alan, Anthony and Sam.

Bill was preceded in death by Pat and Janet, his daughter Terri, son Mike, and his step-son Mike Goering. 

Growing up in Halsted, KS and Hackensack, NJ (among many other stops), Bill was an outstanding athlete, excelling in football and his life-long passion, baseball (go Yankees!). Later in life, Bill, competitive as always, played over 500 ball games while a resident in Sun City and only laid down his glove when a snap-throw to first took out his shoulder. Multi-talented, Bill played several brass instruments in high school and the Navy, and was a stand-out vocalist.

Bill enlisted in the United States Navy as a 17 year-old teenager and credited much of his success in life to his time in the military. Bill was a special duty helmsman and fire-control technician on the USS Furse, which was "pretty cool for a kid from Halstead, KS". Always very patriotic, Bill performed for the City of Hutchinson's centennial, wearing a vintage World War I uniform. If you ever wanted to have a great conversation with Bill, you'd ask him about his time in the Navy!

Bill and Palma enjoyed years of acting and singing together as members of the Sun City Community Theater. By all accounts, Bill was an excellent actor and an even better singer. Known for his exceptional stage presence, Bill was the Master of Ceremonies for Sun City and Bill and Palma (and Palma's parents), put on hundreds of shows for the community with their group, Dusk to Dawn. Bill always had a sparkle in his eye when Palma was acting or dancing and loved being on stage with her. Any time Bill put on his white tuxedo, you knew it was showtime!

Bill's legacy is one of love, devotion and patriotism. Bill will be missed, but he will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew him through the countless memories he leaves behind.

Cody Dwayne Moore, 39, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on June 8, 1985 in Kingman to Rickie Dwayne and Vickie Diane (Jewah) Moore.

Cody graduated from Pratt High School in 2003. While in High School, he was a member of the Greenback Track and Field, Wrestling team where he placed at State twice, Football team and was an Iron Man, Green Glute and Gold Glute weight lifter. After High School he continued to lift and run many marathons. He graduated from Pratt Community College in 2004. He previously worked for Pratt Oilfield Service doing roustabout work and most recently was a landscaper for cell towers and owned CDM Outdoor Services. He attended New Beginnings Fellowship, and formerly on disciple for Bikers For Christ. He enjoyed being outdoors, shooting, hunting, fishing, camping, spending time with family, riding motorcycles, dancing and going on road trips.

He is survived by his parents, Rick and Vickie Moore; Fiance', Tina Ingram; children, Taygin Ember Moore, Tristen, Lanie and Rosie Tillman; sisters, Tosha (Joseph, Jr.) Patalano of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Tonya Ortega of Hutchinson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Cody is preceded in death by his grandparents, Doyle and Leona Moore and Joseph and Reita Jewah.

Peter Canisius Leiker, born October 27, 1928, on a farm west of Liebenthal, Kansas, and passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024. A beloved son of Alexander and Christina (Enslinger) Leiker, Peter was one of ten children and is remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and community.

A proud graduate of Schoenchen Rural High School (1947), Peter answered the call to serve his country in 1951, completing Basic Training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Airborne Jump School at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and held in high regard as a member of the American Legion.

Peter's professional life was distinguished by his career with the National Cooperative Refinery, where he retired as an Area Supervisor. His contributions to the workforce were recognized by his honorary membership in the Teamsters Union and the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union.

Married to Roberta McDaniel on August 1, 1953, Peter cherished his loving partnership with her and took immense pride in their three children. He was also deeply devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, celebrating their achievements and milestones with great joy.

Peter found great pleasure in fishing, boating, and camping, with a special fondness for their Alaskan adventure. His woodworking skills were evident in the roll top desk he crafted and many gifts for family. His faith was a cornerstone of his life; he was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson, where he was a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5222, helping to establish the council in 1962.

Preceded in death by his wife Roberta, his parents, and several siblings. Peter is survived by his children, David (Mary) Leiker, Donna (Greg) Spachek, and Diane Scroggins; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson on Friday, August 2, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Mary was a lifetime member of the Republican National Committee and a member of First Presbyterian Church serving as Elder and Deacon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Virginia; husband, Lowell Cline; and sister, Annette Adkins. Mary is survived by her daughter, Tonya Cline; sister, Carol Rogers; nephew, Mark Adkins; nieces, Ginny (Phil) Leckenky and Susan Knight; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Edra Jean “Jeanne” Deeds, 93, of Little River, Kansas, passed away July 28, 2024, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. 

She was born November 2, 1930, in Southwest City, Missouri, the daughter of Roy and Gertrude (King) Moss. Jeanne was a lifelong Little River resident. She graduated from Little River High School with the class of 1949. 

Jeanne was a farm wife. She was a member of the Congregational Church, Little River, where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and sang in the choir, and member of a Domestic Arts Club. Jeanne taught bible study in her home, which she was very proud of. She lectured for Weight Watchers in Lyons and Hutchinson for many years. Jeanne also taught 4-H cooking and cake decorating. She and her husband, Gene sang together for funerals and weddings. Jeanne enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, reading, and gardening. 

On September 17, 1950, Jeanne was united in marriage with Gene Edward Deeds in Little River. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1991. 

She is also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Joel Schmidt; and eleven siblings. Jeanne is survived by her son, Doug Deeds and wife Rita of Little River, KS; three daughters, Lori Rauch and husband Marvin Jr. of Little River, KS, Joni Briggs and husband Bryan of Windom, KS, and Trudy Schmidt of Rose Hill, KS; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Congregational Church, Little River, with Pastor Lara MacGregor officiating. The family suggests casual attire for the service. A private family burial will be at the Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River.

Zachery J. Markle of McPherson, Kansas born February 1, 1984 in Lyons, Kansas passed away July 23rd, 2024 in Portland, Oregon.

Although his time here on earth was short, he lived a life that was that of his own. He marched to the beat of his own drum since he could walk. He could pack up and move on a moment's notice. He was such a free spirit--often times giving authority figures in his life a run for their money. His dad and mom knew that they had a wild one from an early age.

He enjoyed nature, often times he would be out at a random pond finding the beauty others didn’t. He was an avid sports card collector, a music lover and a wealth of knowledge in any sport. Also, have to add, he was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, always hoping for a winning season and always disappointed in his Cowboys.

He could make the room laugh just with his laugh. Friends will remember his huge heart and willingness to help others.

His daughter was his pride and joy. He had such big dreams and hopes for her. Always bragging about how smart she is to all his coworkers, family and friends.

To write about his life and not include his addiction would not be accurate. He struggled his entire life with that demon and that demon is what cut his time short. Smart, loving and funny but he could never find a way out of his own head. He tried. He didn’t want to be an addict. He didn’t want to die. Often telling people “it’s okay I’ll be fine”. In the days before July 23rd he wasn’t fine though. He went to rehab and tried to find sobriety. During those two years after rehab, he still would relapse. Often apologizing to his sister with each time, as he never wanted to disappoint her. He never disappointed his sister until he overdosed, alone leaving her alone with no siblings on this side of the universe.

He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlin Markle Canton, KS. Parents William Markle Osborne, KS and Elizabeth Markle Burrton, KS. Older sister Rebecca (Jeremy) Logue Moundridge, KS. Niece Myiah and nephew Maverick Logue and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details pending.

June J. Graber, 89, of Moundridge, Kansas passed away on July 28, 2024, at Pine Village. She was born November 29, 1934, in Moundridge. June was the daughter of Milton J. and Emma (Miller) Stucky.

June graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1952. She was a life-long member of Eden Mennonite Church.

She was united in marriage to Gene Graber on October 20, 1955, at Eden Mennonite Church. They celebrated 58 years together until his passing in 2013.

She was involved in pharmaceutical manufacturing for over 25 years, starting in 1970 for Sterling Drug at McPherson.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Graber; daughter, Debra Kelso; parents, Milton and Emma Stucky; and brothers, James and Ronald Stucky.

June is survived by her daughter, Connie Schrag and husband, Keith, of Moundridge; son-in-law, Scot Kelso; grandchildren, Jeremy Schrag (Jaci), Rachel Schrag, Taylor Sechrist (Kevin), Dustin Koehn (Cassie); 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darda Wedel, Roberta Ollenburger (Delton); and sister-in-law, Twilla Stucky.

Donna was born at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Hutchinson, Kansas on May 2, 1961, to William J. Novotny and Dorothy M. (Irsik) Novotny. On February 8, 1980, Donna married Gary E. Hicks in Hutchinson, Kansas. Together they had two Sons: Ronald J. Hicks and Richard W. Hicks.

Donna spent her life spreading love, kindness, knowledge, and art to all. Donna was an active Grassroots artist and enjoyed sharing her love of Grassroots Art with the world. She loved teaching children about bugs, animals, plants, and all things arts and crafts. She was our family entomologist and reference library.

Donna leaves behind her sons, Ronald (Terah) and Richard; grandchildren, Annabel Hicks and Brenton Powell; mother, Dorothy; siblings, Elaine (Monte) Ingraham, Linda Case, Susan Bandt (Jerry Sanders), Kathy (Mike) Rector, Jeanny Neuway, Marilyn Suskey, John (Veronica) Novotny, and Sam Novotny; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna was proceeded in death by her husband, Gary, and father, William.

A celebration of Donna’s vibrant life will be held at noon on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the Stockton City building in Stockton, Kansas.

Joyce Loree Christians, 87, died July 27, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society-Hutchinson Village. &nbsp;She was born November 27, 1936, in Superior, NE, to Bruce and Abbie (Adams) Dressler.

Joyce graduated from Rock Rapids High School, Rock Rapids, IA, in 1954, where she played the alto saxophone in the high school band. &nbsp;She worked as the bookkeeper for Rural Water District #4 for over 40 years. &nbsp;In addition, she owned and operated a licensed childcare center out of her home for over 25 years. Joyce loved working on puzzle books, watching sporting events on television and in person, such as the annual NJCAA basketball tournament held at the Sports Arena. &nbsp;She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and enjoyed playing with the Chime Choir at church. Joyce was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.&nbsp;

On October 6, 1957, she married Edward Christians, Jr., in Rock Rapids, IA. &nbsp;They moved to Hutchinson from Iowa in 1966, and were married almost 58 years, before Edward died March 7, 2015.

Joyce is survived by: &nbsp;son, Todd Christians (Tammy) of Lowell, AR; daughter, Kelly Christians; granddaughter, Megan Christians, both of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Brayden Christians and Mia Holeman; and sister-in-law, Fran Fessler (Dave) of Altoona, IA.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; brother, Dean Dressler (Marion); and a granddaughter, Brandi Christians.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson, with the Reverend Mik King officiating. &nbsp;Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

 </figure>Joyce Loree Christians, 87, died July 27, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society-Hutchinson Village. &nbsp;She was born November 27, 1936, in Superior, NE, to Bruce and Abbie (Adams) Dressler.Joyce graduated from Rock Rapids High School, Rock Rapids, IA, in 1954, where she played the alto saxophone in the high school band. &nbsp;She worked as the bookkeeper for Rural Water District #4 for over 40 years. &nbsp;In addition, she owned and operated a licensed childcare center out of her home for over 25 years. Joyce loved working on puzzle books, watching sporting events on television and in person, such as the annual NJCAA basketball tournament held at the Sports Arena. &nbsp;She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and enjoyed playing with the Chime Choir at church. Joyce was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.&nbsp;On October 6, 1957, she married Edward Christians, Jr., in Rock Rapids, IA. &nbsp;They moved to Hutchinson from Iowa in 1966, and were married almost 58 years, before Edward died March 7, 2015.Joyce is survived by: &nbsp;son, Todd Christians (Tammy) of Lowell, AR; daughter, Kelly Christians; granddaughter, Megan Christians, both of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Brayden Christians and Mia Holeman; and sister-in-law, Fran Fessler (Dave) of Altoona, IA.She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; brother, Dean Dressler (Marion); and a granddaughter, Brandi Christians.Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson, with the Reverend Mik King officiating. &nbsp;Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.Memorials are suggested to Hospice and HomeCare of Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. David Wayne Logan, 59, formerly of Hutchinson, KS, was welcomed into earthly life and love on July 14, 2024, in Joplin, MO. David was a twin to his brother Richard Logan, the middle of 12 children and to proud parents Floyd Logan III, Barbra Louise Logan and Ruthann “Sweetie” Swanson.

David was born October 6, 1964, in Crawfordsville, AR. He had a childhood filled with family and friends who loved him. David attended Lincoln Elementary School, Sherman Junior High School and Hutchinson High School, graduating in 1983. After graduation, David worked with his Uncle Perry King and Aunt Ann King in the family business, The Hutchinson Truck Wash and Detail Shop. David worked for Pitts Plastic for 15 years as a warehouse picker.

David was a loving father of 5 children, 2 bonus children and 5 grandchildren. They all were the center of his universe. In David’s spare time, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends, watching sports and attending his children’s basketball, football and softball games. David loved life to the fullest and all the opportunities that were afforded to him.

David passed away into peaceful transition to the presence of his lord and savior, where family members were there to greet him at the gate, father, Floyd Logan III; mothers, Barbra Louise Logan and Ruthann “Sweetie” Swanson; sisters, Sherry Logan and Audrey Logan; brothers, Curtis Logan and Daniel Swanson.

Gloria Jean Biby, 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at her home in McPherson.&nbsp; She was a long-time resident of McPherson and had worked at Pfizer for over 30 years, most recently in the quality control department.

She was born July 4, 1950, in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Harry Leo and Ruby Ione (Thompson) Achenbach.&nbsp; Gloria graduated from Attica High School in Attica, Kansas.

Gloria could bring light into every room she entered and had an unmistakable laugh that could be heard for miles around!&nbsp; Some of her passions included singing, dancing, fishing, going to casinos, playing cards, scrabble, Words with Friends, bunco, bingo, and any kind of game you could think of in the car to keep everyone entertained.

She loved with all her heart and always had a hug for anyone that needed one. &nbsp;&nbsp;She will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Survivors include: two daughters, Hollie Melroy (Tony) of McPherson, KS and Michelle Stetler of McPherson, KS; a sister, Janice Troyer of Olympia, WA; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Connie Peetoom, and a grandson, Trevor Morse. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at American Legion Post #24, McPherson.

Galen D. Jantz, 83, passed away July 27, 2024, at Pleasant View Home in Inman, KS with his family by his side. He was born January 5, 1941, in Galva, KS, the son of Evan and Susan (Unruh) Jantz.&nbsp;

He attended school in Galva, KS also working various jobs and preceded on with a career in truck driving, with his handle being “Wind Jammer.” He and his wife Carol were able to see many sights over the course of his coast-to-coast travels. Galen was presented with a “million-mile club award” for driving over a million miles accident free. Besides driving truck, he loved and raised many horses over the years. If you ask his family, he was a ‘tinkerer” and could “fix anything.” Galen was quite the perfectionist, everything had its place and a place for everything and you can bet it would have been put away cleaned and shined. He was an avid collector of toy tractors and spent hours building model semi-truck and trailers. He attended Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church, Inman.

Galen and Carol were married on March 11, 1971 in Guymon, OK.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include daughters, Tawny Hoffman (Yale) and Misty Jantz (Mark Gatz), both of McPherson, KS; a brother, Allen Jantz (Feryl), Galva, KS; sisters, Beverly Jantz and Carrol Jantz-Haywood (Ron Bryan) both of Gainesville, TX; grandchildren, Elizabeth Unruh (Shane), Canton, KS, Madison Hoffman-Schrag (Logan), McPherson, KS and Abby Jantz of Hutchinson, KS; great grandchildren, Chace, Cora, Collyer, Creede, and Reese; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and fellow truckers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Johnny, a daughter, Ebanee Lynn and a stepson, Roger Whitlock.

Robert Clark McAllister, 87, &nbsp;went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2024. 

He was born in Cortland Indiana to Oran Allen and Mary Evelyn Mounts McAllister. When he was 2 his family moved to Kansas. His dad was a ranch hand so they moved around quite a bit including living one summer in a log cabin next to the Laramie River in Wyoming. In 1949 Bob and his family moved to Burns, Kansas. A year after high school he joined the Navy for 4 years and then worked for the state engineers for 5 years. He then worked for the post office for 38 years being one of the last employees to ride the mail train. He was a charter member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church. His whole life he was working hard. If he wasn’t at the post office he was working a side job for a neighbor, friend or relative. After retirement he worked in Yellowstone for one summer which was the highlight of his retirement. He spent the last 24 years with the love of his life, Pat. They enjoyed playing cards, bus trips, square dancing, casinos and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, auctions, Conway Springs football, Chiefs football, KU basketball and playing games. He is survived by Pat Jeffery of Conway Springs, KS; children Roy of Blackwell, OK; Heidi of Fountain, CO, Ray (Michelle) of Wichita, KS, Roger of Manhattan, KS, Sonya (Kelly) of Conway Springs, KS, Rob of Conway Springs, KS, Darin (Tara) of Haysville, KS, &nbsp;7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and sisters Crystal of Lawrence, KS and June of Heyworth, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents Oran and Mary McAllister, brothers Allen, Joe and Grover and sisters, Marilyn and Colleen. Services will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at &nbsp;Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 1200 Boyd Ave., Newton, KS. Dessie Marie Kidd, 94, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Inman, KS. She was born to John and Mary (Borrow) Cross on February 19, 1930, near Mountain View, Arkansas.

Dessie married James Kidd on June 3, 1944. She was in the dietary departments for Broadacres, Grace Hospital, and Hutchinson Hospital before retiring. Dessie and James had six children and enjoyed her family activities. Her neighbors and friends were always welcomed. She cooked and baked to the delight of her family and neighborhood children. Her hobbies included button collecting, sewing, and garage sales.

Dessie is preceded by her parents; her husband of 54 years, James; siblings and daughter, Barbara Yingling.

She is survived by her children, Jimmie Kidd, Billy (Janet) Vickie (Gary) Stieben all of Hutchinson, Shirley (Merle) Milburn of Jefferson, Georgia, and Sandra McCarley of McPherson; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Guy Hanna officiating. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.

Donald “Don” W. Cooper, 91, died July 28, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born May 21, 1933, in Rolla, MO, to William “Don” D. and Hazel M. (Hake) Cooper.

Don graduated from high school in Mankato, MN and attended Hutchinson Community Junior College. He served in the United States Navy as an Air Controlman between 1952 and 1956. Don worked for the United Telephone Company as a telephone repairman for 24 years. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing.

On December 16, 1966, he married Betty L. Ely, in Hutchinson. They shared over 57 years of marriage.

Don is survived by: wife, Betty Cooper of Hutchinson; children, Randy (Nora) Cooper of Belle Vista, AR, Kari Schmelig of Hutchinson, Michelle (Glen) VanDeLinder of Overland Park; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Doris) Cooper of Weaubleau, MO, Robert Cooper of Osage City and Charles (Nancy) Cooper of Mankato, MN; beloved puppies, Ellie and Bailey.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Gregory S. Cooper; son in-law, Bob Schmelig; and sister in-law, Linda Cooper.

Cremation has taken place. No services are planned.

Donald “Don” W. Cooper |1933-2024|

Earl “Wes” Adams, 85, formerly of Nickerson, died July 16, 2024, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born September 22, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Walter and Ruby (Cornwell) Adams.

Wes owned Adams Construction Company, until 1988, when he changed the name of his business to Wes Adams Construction. &nbsp;He also owned Nickerson Mini-Storage. Wes was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, working day and night in his shop, and partaking in adult beverages with his children and employees. &nbsp;Above all, Wes treasured the time he spent with his family. &nbsp;He loved all his family unconditionally.&nbsp;

On November 11, 1967, he married Sharon Bishop, in Hutchinson. &nbsp;

Wes is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 57 years, Sharon Adams of South Hutchinson; children, Treva Bussard (Garry) of Nickerson, Jamie Adams (Melissa) of Hutchinson, Kris Schutkesting (Ron) of Mountain Home, AR, Kim Hebenstreit of Kansas City, MO, Sherrie McAllister (Kyle) of Arvada, CO, and Darci Jones (Rob) of Nickerson; 20 grandchildren; over 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; sisters, Peggy and Frances; a brother, Robert; and a grandson, Timothy.

Celebration of Life service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Lake Talbot East, located on the Kansas State Fairgrounds, 2000 N. Poplar, Hutchinson. Food and beverages will be served. &nbsp;Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

 </figure>Earl “Wes” Adams, 85, formerly of Nickerson, died July 16, 2024, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born September 22, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Walter and Ruby (Cornwell) Adams.Wes owned Adams Construction Company, until 1988, when he changed the name of his business to Wes Adams Construction. &nbsp;He also owned Nickerson Mini-Storage. Wes was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, working day and night in his shop, and partaking in adult beverages with his children and employees. &nbsp;Above all, Wes treasured the time he spent with his family. &nbsp;He loved all his family unconditionally.&nbsp;On November 11, 1967, he married Sharon Bishop, in Hutchinson. &nbsp;Wes is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 57 years, Sharon Adams of South Hutchinson; children, Treva Bussard (Garry) of Nickerson, Jamie Adams (Melissa) of Hutchinson, Kris Schutkesting (Ron) of Mountain Home, AR, Kim Hebenstreit of Kansas City, MO, Sherrie McAllister (Kyle) of Arvada, CO, and Darci Jones (Rob) of Nickerson; 20 grandchildren; over 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp;He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; sisters, Peggy and Frances; a brother, Robert; and a grandson, Timothy.Celebration of Life service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Lake Talbot East, located on the Kansas State Fairgrounds, 2000 N. Poplar, Hutchinson. Food and beverages will be served. &nbsp;Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Robert Arellano our beloved father and lifelong Los Angeles Dodgers fan, peacefully passed away at 87 on Friday July 25, 2024 at Kansas Christian Home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 25,1937 in Newton, Kansas to parents Juan and Georgia Corona Arellano Porras.

In 1958, Robert began courting his wife, of 64 years Katherine Rosella Flores from Liberal, Kansas. They married on May 11, 1959, in Newton Kansas and had 4 daughters.

In 1996 he retired from A.T.&amp;S.F. and Santa Fe Railroad after 25 years where he worked as an auto gauge engineer checking the tracks from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Robert excelled at baseball, basketball, fastpitch and won many awards and trophies. He Was Inducted into The Newton Mexican American Hall of Fame in 1997. In his later years he excelled at bowling and golf. After retiring he enjoyed golfing five days a week and twice on Wednesday with his compadres - his golf legacy was scoring "five" hole in ones.

What many people don't know is he was also a talented woodworker and artist. Passing those talents on to his kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jesse Arellano, sisters Sara Calvillo, Judy Arellano Jaso, and grandchildren Maxwell, Christian, Ashton and Quinn Taylor.

He is survived by his sisters Vera Arellano Macias, Rosa Arellano Johnson. Brothers Ed Arellano and Thomas Arellano. His wife Rosella, his four daughters Brenda Arellano, Anna Arellano - Prunty (Martin), Elaine Arellano - Taylor (Ric), Sylvia Arellano - Gwinn (Jon) and his five grandchildren Tobria Moorman (Mike), Robert Wagner (Allie), Sophia Payne, Ariana Claassen (Paul), Alexander Taylor, and three great grandchildren Skyler Payne, Grayson Wagner, and Jameson Moorman.

Roberts' family and friends fondly refer to him as Mr. Clean, a focused perfectionist in everything he did professionally and personally.

Services will be held on Thursday August 1st, Rosary at 10am followed by Mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton, Kansas. Interment will be held later at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

On July 26, 2024, Henry Ralph Neufeld at the grand old age of 91, decided it was time to put the brakes on a life well-driven and coast gently into the eternal sunset. Born on the farm in rural Inman, Kansas, on January 4, 1933, to Henry H. and Justina (Regehr) Neufeld, Henry's journey began on a road paved with the virtues of hard work and a tank full of kindness.

Following his graduation from Inman High School, Henry honored his civic duty by serving in the 1W service from 1952-1954, in California and Colorado, contributing to his community and country with dedication. Henry's career began in 1956 when he established the car care center at Crossroads Co-Op in North Newton, Kansas and continued until he retired at age 82. His tenure included management roles at the Co-Op in Silt, Colorado from 1982-1989, and at the Roaring Fork Valley Co-Op in Carbondale, Colorado from 1989-1991. After returning to Newton, he worked for Farmland/Land O'Lakes and Winfield Solutions, marking a robust 58-year career.

Henry's passion extended beyond his vocation to the restoration of his prized 1977 El Camino, the meticulous care of this yard and garden, and the cherishing of Co-Op memorabilia. His hobbies were a testament to his caring nature, patience and his deep respect for all of God's creation.

Henry attended Koerner Heights Mennonite Brethren Church and The Gathering. His faith was his roadmap, guiding him through life's twists and turns with unwavering trust in the Great Navigator.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Linda, daughter Bethany, grandson Tyler all of Newton, his sister Marlene (Lloyd) Voth of Goessel, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and his cat, Gracie. He joins in eternal peace his parents, brother John and sister-in-law Amanda, and sister Lillian and brother-in-law Delbert Ediger.

Before he cruised off to the great highway in the sky, Henry decided to park himself at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas for one last pit stop. The family will receive friends and loved ones for viewing and visitation on Tuesday, August 6th at 9 am, with the funeral service following at 10 am, celebrating a life lived in humble service and love. Henry will be laid to rest at Restlawn Cemetery. The family invites attendees to join them at The Breadbasket for lunch following the burial.

Henry's life was a testament to hard work, kindness, and faith, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton, Kansas.

Ardis Joy Old was born in Chanute Kansas on February 6, 1933 to Chester and Ethel Old who were delighted to have a red haired baby girl. In the 8th grade, her family moved to Yates Center Kansas where Ardis was a cheerleader and she taught dance and acrobatics. Her senior year she met Lloyd Barham Jr and they married October 7, 1950 in Bentonville Arkansas. After helping put Lloyd through college at K State, they moved to Newton Kansas in 1964. In addition to raising her 4 children, Ardis received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She went on to receive a Masters Degree in Special Education at WSU and she lacked 13 hours of obtaining her Doctorate from OU. During that time, she taught in the Oklahoma City School District to Learning Disabled and Emotionally Disturbed Children up the time of her retirement. Ardis was known for her sweet disposition and enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She enjoyed camping with her family and visiting National Parks. She also enjoyed the many camping trips to Toronto State Park with her sister Beth and family.

She was very loved by her 4 children Kenneth Barham, Laura Harrison (Toby), Arlen Barham (Carolie) and Jani Hennes (Dave).

Ardis was preceeded in death by her parents Chester and Ethel. Her brothers Forrest and Lynndel Old. Sisters Altabelle Old and Meribeth Webber. Her Husband Lloyd Barham. Daughter Laura Harrison and Granddaughter Jennifer Barham.

She was the proud Grandma of 12 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.

A visitation/celebration of life will be held in her honor Sunday August 4Th from 1-5 at Petersens Family Funeral Home. A graveside burial for will be held Monday August 5th at the Yates Center Kansas Cemetery at 1 PM.

Donations may be made in her honor to Caring Hands Human Society as she dearly loved animals.

Nola Fae Moore, 88, of Hutchinson, died July 26, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, in Wichita. She was born July 29, 1935, in Ross, IA, to LeRoy R. and Fae L. (Voorhees) Badders.

A Hutchinson resident for many years, Nola graduated from Sydney’s Hairdressing College and worked as a machinist at Eaton Corp. for 25 years. She loved hunting, fishing, camping, her Golden Sneakers group, and dancing at the Senior Center at Elmdale Park. But most of all, Nola loved spending time with her family.

In 1981, she married Kermit Moore, in California. He died in 1987.

Nola is survived by: her daughters, Patreese Kelly-Surran of Alburquerque, NM, Pam Downing (Jeff) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jordan Proffitt (Tyler) of McPherson, Carter Downing of Hutchinson, Conor Surran, Sean Surran, Deven Surran, all of Alburquerque, NM; sisters, Frances Evans of Hutchinson, Margaret Miles of Lincoln, KS, Ellen Milewski (Stanley) of Rayford, NC; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; children, Cindy Hercules, Lorraine Hercules, James Kelly; siblings, William Badders and Martha Amarose.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 29 thru August 3, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.
