Jerome Ernest Hajek, at the age of 73, passed away August 28, 2024, at his home, in Marion, surrounded by his family. He gallantly battled cancer. 

Jerome’s life began December 8, 1950. He was born in Marion, Kansas, the 7th child born to Albert and Mildred (Bina) Hajek. He was raised on the family farm near Lost Springs. He attended K - 8th grade at Lost Springs Elementary. He attended and graduated from Centre High School with the class of 1969. Immediately following graduation, he served his country in the United States Air Force National Guard until his honorable discharge in August 1975. He was united in marriage to Donna Kay Ewert on September 25, 1971, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. They were blessed with two loving daughters, Kelli &amp; Kimberly. 

Before serving his country Jerome worked for Slusser’s Drilling. After his service he worked a while at Hesston Corporation. Then he and his brother, Gary, operatered Tampa Lumber Yard which was owned by him and all his brothers, until the late 1970’s. After they sold the lumberyard he worked for Ousler Brothers for a short time. He then would spend the next 33 years at Johns Manville Corporation, where he worked as a Servicer, he retired in 2014. 

His loving family surviving him includes: his wife: Donna of Marion; his daughters: Kelli and husband Dennis Kerschen of Wichita, and Kimberly Helmer of Marion; his 5 grandchildren: Drew Helmer of Thornton, C0, Hunter Helmer of Overland Park, William Kerschen of Fort Liberty, NC, Matthew Kerschen of Wichita, and Ella Kerschen of Wichita; his sister: Irene (Eugene) Waylan of Miami, OK: his brothers: Paul, Ronnie (Leona), and Gary (Vickie) all of Lost Springs; also his loving brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother: Francis, sister-in-law RaeLene Hajek, and his brothers-in-law: Wayne Ewert and Max Ewert. 

All services for Jerome will be held at the Marion Presbyterian Church, with the Visition to be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 6 - 8 pm; and the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 10:00 am. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery. Memorial Funds have been established for the Marion Presbyterian Church or for the St. Luke Hospital.

Leatrice E. Schroeder, 97, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. She was born on October 24, 1926 in McPherson County, Kansas, to John and Emma (Froese) Peters.

She was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church, where she was very involved with the supply center, cooking committee and the quilters group. Leatrice also taught Sunday school.

Leatrice was united in marriage to Milo “Mickey” Schroeder on May 28, 1946 in Buhler. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2015.

Leatrice is survived by her children, Maxelin Wiebe of Buhler, Nancy (Dale) Kopper of Wentzville, MO, and Don (Jan) Schroeder of Hesston; son-in-law, Royce Regehr of Inman; grandchildren, Rene’ (Melody) Wiebe, Sean (Nancy) Wiebe, Brent (Kim) Kopper, Nathan (Michelle) Kopper, Debbi (Doug) Wiens, David (Lea Ann) Schroeder, Justin (Kelly) Regehr, and Troy Regehr; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Lawrence (Nancy) Peters of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Gail Regehr; son-in-law, Gary Wiebe; and brother, Victor (Velora) Peters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community chapel, with family greeting friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Richard Eugene Connell, Jr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 22, 2024. &nbsp;Born in Stuttgart Germany to Richard E Connell and Yvonne (Simpson) on January 13, 1972, he began his life on an Army base, soon returning to the United States where he was raised in Wichita, Kansas.

Rick had a childlike joy and mischievousness with a contagious laugh to follow that immediately drew people to him. He was an accomplished and well-known professional in the aircraft industry, happily sharing his knowledge and technical excellence with anyone who wanted to learn. &nbsp;Rick was always the first to help anyone experiencing difficulties, even when he himself was at his lowest. &nbsp;Rick was a true believer in the power of kindness.

Rick’s greatest joy in life was his children, and in more recent years, his 6 grandchildren. &nbsp;He was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his 4 children, and kept detailed mementos of each of their school events, grades, performances, and sporting events. &nbsp;He would break out into a grin at the first glimpse of any of his grandchildren, and the words “Poppy Ricky!” were music to his ears.

Rick is survived by his four children, daughter Breanna Haden of Augusta KS, and sons Austin Connell (Macey), Bryce Connell, and Cohen Connell, all of Wichita KS; his grandchildren Elsie Haden, Waverley Connell, Gwenevera Connell, Callum Connell, Carter Coates, and Quentin Connell; his sister Tonya Bargas (Mark); his brother Dillon Connell (Jessica); his step-mother Robbn Connell; his step-father John Stewart; Mother of Austin Connell and dear friend of 35 years Day Davidson (Josh); and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Rick was preceded in death and was welcomed with open arms by his father, Richard E Connell; his mother, Yvonne (Simpson) Stewart; his grandparents Jack and Helen Connell, Joyce De’Chant, and Gene White.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 6th at ZAIK Church, located at 888 S Webb Rd in Wichita, KS 67207.

Frank Clement Dauksch, age 79 yrs, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024. He was bornSaturday, September 16, 1944 in Great Bend, Kansas, son of Clement Paul Dauksch and LelaAnna (Konecny) Dauksch. 

He was a graduate of Great Bend High School, Great Bend, Kansas.After graduation he went into the U.S. Navy on the USS Bennington. A few years later he met the love of his life, Carol Mae Finkbiner. They were married May 15, 1971 in Clifton, Kansasand enjoyed 43 years when Carol preceded him in 2014. His other lifelong accomplishmentwas working for USD 259 and retiring after 30 years of faithful work.

He took pride in and enjoyed having a large garden which prospered at the touch of his hand andhard work. He exercised at the YMCA, and in his quiet time he enjoyed fishing. Yet his greatestlove was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Dauksch, his parents Clement and Lela Dauksch,brother Robert Fredelake and sister Barbara Lancaster.

She was born in August 25th,1964, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Mary (Bland) Theos and Roy Crabtree. 

Theresa enjoyed crafts and coloring in her spare time. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a full-time homemaker.&nbsp;

She is survived by; her daughter Andrea Henderson and her husband Donny: her son,Keith Boyer; her sisters,Peggy Scott, Shelia Brown and Franny Voth; her brother,Billy Goodman and his wife Judy; and her grandchildren, Daniel, Nevaeh, Brandon, Khloe, and Destini.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by; her mother, Mary(Bland) Theos; her father Roy Crabtree; her sister Barb Picking; and her brothers Donald Goodman and David Crabtree.&nbsp;

Shawnta L. Williams-Miller, 44, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at home in Kansas City, Kansas. Shawnta was born October 19, 1979, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Robert L. Miller and Judy E. (Chronister) Miller.

Shawnta graduated from Buhler High School in 1998. She attended Sidney’s Cosmetology School. She worked in the customer service industry for many years. Shawnta enjoyed spending time with friends and attending church.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Shawnta is survived by her parents; daughter, Kaycee-Mae Miller, sons, GaVaughn and Jaidence Embers; sister, Danielle (Dominque) Craft; brother, Bryce (Emily) Miller; nieces, Kohlbie Craft, Bayleigh and Londynne Miller; nephews, Kree Craft and Dezmond Miller; and multiple aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend William J. Green Sr. presiding, 1015 E. 7th Ave., Hutchinson, Kansas. Shawnta L. Williams-Miller |1979-2024|

Debra Anne Mills (née Freeman), also known as Debbie, aged 71, passed away on August 26, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on May 29, 1953, in Coldwater, Kansas, she was the loving daughter of the late Emma Gene and Elvin Freeman.

Debbie will be profoundly missed by her surviving family. Her husband, Keith Mills; her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Donnie Busby;&nbsp; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Lacy Breeden; her daughter and son-in-law, Abbey Fulgham and Jeff Greubel; Keith’s daughter Rachael and his son Andrew; and her treasured grandchildren, Mia and Jonah Kennedy, Jaden, Jaren, and Jonathan Fulgham, as well as Scout and Champ Breeden, Joshua and Ethan Mills; and her great grandchildren Aiden, Grayson, and Sofia Kennedy, will all hold her memory dear. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Buffington.

Her life was an emblem of kindness, generosity, and love, which she demonstrated through her&nbsp;commitment to her family and her friends. She leaves behind a legacy of enduring love and precious memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

In remembrance of Debra Anne Mills, her family welcomes those who wish to honor her life to join them&nbsp;in a celebration of her legacy on Friday, August 30th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buhler Mortuary, 120 N Main St, Buhler, KS 67522.

Born on May 29, 1953, in Coldwater, Kansas, she was the loving daughter of the late Emma Gene and Elvin Freeman.Debbie will be profoundly missed by her surviving family. Her husband, Keith Mills; her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Donnie Busby;&nbsp; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Lacy Breeden; her daughter and son-in-law, Abbey Fulgham and Jeff Greubel; Keith’s daughter Rachael and his son Andrew; and her treasured grandchildren, Mia and Jonah Kennedy, Jaden, Jaren, and Jonathan Fulgham, as well as Scout and Champ Breeden, Joshua and Ethan Mills; and her great grandchildren Aiden, Grayson, and Sofia Kennedy, will all hold her memory dear. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Buffington.Her life was an emblem of kindness, generosity, and love, which she demonstrated through her&nbsp;commitment to her family and her friends. Here she met, and then married Johnnie C. Curtiss on January 28, 1946. They had 2 children, Doug and Becky. Johnnie died January 26, 1999, two days before their 53rd wedding anniversary and his 80th birthday.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Edna worked for 17 years at Bethel Clinic as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First United Methodist church, VFW Auxiliary, Eastern Star and NARVRE.

&nbsp;Survivors include her children: Doug and Linda Curtiss of rural Newton, Kansas; Becky and Bill Heaston of Newton, Kansas; Grandchildren Monica and Chad Lester, Melissa and Brad Deal, great-grandchildren Logan, Jenna, Lindsey, Riley, Emily and Bradley; and great great grandson, Enzo, all of the Denver area; 3 step-granddaughters and nine step-great grandchildren of the Kansas City area, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband Johnnie; her parents Sam and Alice Schmidt; two Sisters Mary Schmidt and Ruth Hershberger; two brothers Vernon Schmidt and Earl Schmidt.

&nbsp;Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Petersen Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Petersen Family Funeral Home. Burial will be Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas.

Philip W. Young, 84, of Hutchinson, died August 20, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 5, 1940, in Hutchinson, to Estel and Melba (Warren) Young.&nbsp;

Philip graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1958, and graduated in 1962 from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in business. He spent many years working for General Motors in their human resources department. Philip loved spending time fishing and painting. He was able to fix anything that was broken and Philip enjoyed working on projects. He was a car enthusiast and a founder of the Radicals Car Club.&nbsp;

He was devoted member of the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

In 1964, Philip married Freda Pfannestiel. They shared 52 years of marriage before her death on September 3, 2016.&nbsp;

Philip is survived by: daughters, Sandra Johann of Independence, MO, Cindy (Chuck) LoPorto of Blue Springs, MO, Christine Robinson of Lee’s Summit, MO; brother, Scott (Margie) Young of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Carrie Turner (Mark Nicholas) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Sal (Gina) LoPorto of Riverside, MO, Mike (Kim) LoPorto of Emporia, Christopher (Katherine) LoPorto of Lee’s Summit, MO, Ashley Johann of Independence, MO, Stephen (Shelby) Johann of Independence, MO; and 10 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Our beloved, Heidi Dawn Blackwell, left us peacefully on August 25, 2024 at the age of 50. Heidi was a beacon of love and strength in our lives, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

Born on April 10, 1974 in Hutchinson KS, Heidi dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was known for her infectious smile, unwavering love, incredible resilience, nurturing spirit and she had a unique way of making everyone feel special and loved.

Heidi’s love and wisdom have been the heart of our family, and while we grieve her loss, we find comfort in the countless memories we hold dear. She will be forever missed, but her spirit will continue to guide us and inspire us every day.

Heidi is survived by her husband Fred Blackwell, children: Brittany Blackwell (Michael Dunsworth) and Corey Blackwell of Hutchinson, grandsons:  Gage Freyholtz and Toby Walden, of Hutchinson, mother: Dorothy (Roy) Edwards of Livingston, TX, sisters: Wendy (Michael) Miller and Robin Shultz “McClellan”, of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil McClellan.

Russell Glen Baker, 60, died Monday, August 26, 2024 at his home in Haysville, Kansas.

He was born on October 24, 1963 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Russell L. and Helen Hedgepath Baker. Russell was raised in the Hutchinson and Burrton area.

&nbsp;Graduating from Burrton High School in 1982, Russell later went to Junior College in Concordia and McPherson where he played basketball. He still holds some of the school records at Burrton High School.

For many years he had worked at the Wichita area aircraft companies, retiring from Spirit in 2013. He married Kathleen Diann Decker on August 27, 2013 in Hutchinson.

Survivors include his wife Kathy of the home; his children Blake Baker and wife Becki of St. Charles, Mo., Erren Baker of Clearwater, Zachary Baker and wife Christine of Moscow Mill, Mo., Jordan Baker and wife Emily of St. Peters, Mo., Jacob Baker with Makaila Chadwick of Wichita, Nathan Baker with Sydney Alexander of Phoenix, Az., Heather Magby of Wichita,

and Ryan Magby and wife Roula of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and eight grandchildren with one more due in December.

Russell is also survived by his parents Russell and Helen Baker of Clearwater; and brother Tony Baker and wife Sheryl of Little Rock, Ark.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later time.

Hope Marie Bertram, 56, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024 at her home. She was born on February 9, 1968 in Salina to Ken Sharp and Linda (Luther) Throckmorton. Hope married Dell Wayne Bertram on December 26, 1991 Medicine Lodge. They were married for 32 years.

Hope earned her Certified Nurse Aide and Certified Med Aide Certificate from Pratt Community College. She loved her family and was devoted to her grandchildren. She was a very selfless lady that was always taking care of others and putting them first.

She is survived by her husband, Dell; son, James (Ashley) Bertram; daughter, Ashley Aurelien all of Pratt; father, Ken Sharp of Salina; mother, Linda Throckmorton of Larned; brothers, David Sharp of Wichita and Troy Sharp of Larned; and grandchildren, Natalie (Brice) Dinning, Alayna Bertram, Allie Bertram and Carmalina Aurelien.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Pamela Joan Saffle, 70, beloved wife, mother, and nana, was welcomed into Heaven on Friday, August 23, 2024. &nbsp;

Pam was born on November 2, 1953, to John and Joyce Henderson in Sedan, Kansas, the oldest of four children. She lived in Sedan and Larned before her family settled down in Hutchinson. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1971. On July 15, 1972, she married the love of her life, Steven Saffle. She worked in the banking industry until the birth of their first child in January of 1979. Their family continued to grow with the birth of a son in April of 1980 and a daughter in March of 1984. The family moved from Hutchinson to Fort Scott before settling in Wichita in 1986. In 1989, Pam began her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher by going back to school at Wichita State University. She graduated in 1994 and began teaching at White Elementary. The next year she began teaching first grade at Woodman Elementary where she made lifelong friendships with her team. She retired from teaching in 2010 when her health began to decline. Her early retirement years were spent taking care of her young grandchildren, digital scrapbooking, and her monthly lunch dates with “the girls”. &nbsp;She enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel and police dramas, going to her grandkid’s sports activities, and spending quality time with her family.

Pamela is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Steve of Augusta; daughter, Abby Younts (Shawn) of Valley Center; son, Eric Saffle (Brandy) of Madison, Mississippi; and daughter, Andrea Saffle of Valley Center. Pam was a wonderful Nana to Matthew Saffle, Kaden Saffle, Gracelynn and Lucas Younts, Joshua Saffle, and Colton Saffle. She is also survived by her sister, Lisa (Robert) Vieyra, her brother David Henderson, and her sister-in-law, Alice Henderson, as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Joyce Henderson, and her brother, Mark Henderson.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Riverlawn Christian Church, 4243 N. Meridian in Wichita, Kansas. Family will be there to welcome those who wish to celebrate Pam’s life at 9:00 AM.&nbsp;

Nataleah “Nat” Gillian Rutherford, 33, &nbsp;gained her wings and beautifully took flight to paradise peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024, at her home in Wichita.

She was born November 24, 1990, in McPherson the daughter of Lisa (Rutherford) Brewer.&nbsp; Nataleah attended the following schools in McPherson, Washington Elementary, Middle School and a 2009 graduate of McPherson High School. She loved playing basketball and participating in track events for the Middle School, where she set a school record for the Triple Long Jump.

Nataleah was the CEO/Owner of True Reflections Clothing. Throughout the years, she worked at McPherson Hospital, Cedars as a CNA, Brown Shoe Fit, Walmart, bartender, graphic designer/office assistant, all while flashing her beautiful smile and helping however she could. She lived mostly in McPherson, Galva, Wichita and sometimes in the beautiful mountains of Colorado where she found a love of modeling her amazing body art. She was a top competitor in the Ink Magazine model competition.

Nataleah was a sweet soul with a creative/artistic style. Restoring/repurposing furniture was another way she let her creativity flow. She enjoyed creating various craft projects for many occasions over the years. Always had an idea to make it just right. She loved reaching out and connecting to family and friends whether a quick text, long phone call or a loving hug. She will be dearly missed by all whom she crossed paths with.

She was always ready to head out to a concert to rock the night away or just out riding with friends. She was an avid Broncos fan and loved playing games and hanging with her nieces and nephews. Attending tattoo conventions, along with modeling her tats, was a way to express her love of art. She didn’t know a stranger. She loved to travel and enjoyed multiple U.S. states as well as England and Mexico.

She is survived by her daughter Aaliyah Skipworth, who she adored and loved the mostest, father of Aaliyah, Jerrod Skipworth, mom Lisa Brewer (David), significant other, Jake Respond, sisters Brooke &nbsp;(Mason) Mackley, Nicole (Caleb) Godwin and Ashton Day (Lance Hulse); Aunt Nae Nae’s nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart, Levi, Layla &amp; Lucas Godwin and Myleigh &amp; Maverick Day;&nbsp; Grandmother Annie Sams; &nbsp;Aunts and Uncles Chris Sams (Erin),&nbsp; Jen Sams, Pam (Jeff) Axelson, Chris (Karen) Brewer and Matthew Brewer and cousins Alexa Bell, Kaiden Wilson, Kale Childers, Rowan Sams, Courtney (Matt) Arnold, Logan Brewer, Marissa (Blake) Brown and Miranda Axelson.

She is preceded in death by Great-Grandma Nana, Grandparents Keith &amp; Betty Brewer, and many close friends that she loved dearly that had touched her heart over the years.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life &nbsp;will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM at New Hope Evangelical Church, McPherson with Pastor George Bocox officiating.

Michele Laureen Hill, 70, of Hutchinson, Kansas passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024 at Hospice House with family by her side. Michele was born March 12,1954 to Dora Juanita Hill and Robert Lee Hill in Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Hutchinson Kansas. Michele was a child of God and spent her adult life serving the Lord. Her favorite thing to do was to attend worship services and talk about God. Michele was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and Foundation of Life Ministries (McGee’s Chapel). She also loved to attend Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church while she was in Iowa visiting.

Michele absolutely adored her dog Roscoe and loved taking him places with her, if she was in the car, so was he. She would often travel back to Texas to spend time with her family as well as going to Iowa to spend time with her brother and sister-in-law.

She was a successful hairdresser by trade in Hutchinson and later moved to Dallas, where she worked in customer service. She later retired and returned to Hutchinson.

Michele is survived by her three children Kai D. Hill of Kansas, Kela R. Hill of Texas and Hannah O. Denton of Mississippi. Brothers: Michael L. Hill (Bobbi Hill), Steven K. Hill (Shari Hill) and Brian Tyrone Hill. &nbsp;Sisters: Patricia (Ada P) Hill, Glennda J. Hill, and Paula R. Hill.

Michele has 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She also has many nieces and nephews, all of which she loved and who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her mother Dora Juanita Hill, father Robert Lee Hill, brothers Kenneth Hill, Bobby Hill and her nephew Jarvis J. Hill.

Services will be held at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1015 E. 7th Ave. &nbsp;Hutchinson, KS 67501

Interment will take place at the Fairlawn Burial Park.&nbsp;

Micheal Dean Elliott, 68, of Wichita, died Friday, August 16, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center.

He was born on October 1, 1955 in Pensacola, Florida at the Naval Air Station, the son of Jerry and Delois Shehorn Elliott. While his dad was in the Air Force, the family lived in France for a short time before moving to Hutchinson, Kansas when Micheal was four years old.

He was raised in the Hutchinson area and attended Inman High School. Micheal worked in the oil fields for a time period before becoming a brick tender. He worked for several years with Gene Gardner.

Micheal married Gaynelle “Gayle” Rasmussen on April 23, 1976 in Hutchinson. She died on February 19, 2009. Micheal moved to Wichita eight years ago.

Survivors include his daughter Vanna Kay Elliott of Wichita; son Jon Michael Elliott of Eugene, Oregon; brother Bill Elliott of Guthrie, Oklahoma; sisters Thresa Mandeville of Hutchinson and Tammy McCumbers of Metter, Georgia; six grandchildren Alexander Gonzalez, Aaron Gonzalez, Austin Gonzalez, Xavier Messick, Zachary Messick, II, and Zaydie Elliott.

Micheal is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for 1:00 P.M., Sunday, September 8 at the Community Center in Nickerson, Kansas.

Gene Annett, 96, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024 at Pratt Health and Rehab. He was born on January 21, 1928 in Buttermilk, Oklahoma to Tony and Anna (Shaddy) Annett. Gene married Norma (Schoonover) Annett on December 6, 1952 in Pratt. They were married for 73 years.

Gene worked as a Painter and Paper Hanger for his entire working career. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed attending family reunions, playing dominoes especially Moon, antiquing and coin collecting.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters, Debra Annett of Pratt, Candace (Randy) Arnold of Pratt and Tamara Tawater of Pratt; sisters, Sally Holland of Florida and Ruth (Gene) Isbell of Wichita; granddaughter, Devan (Kyle) Spencer of Burrton; great-grandchildren, Kyzer, Kyce and Kya Spencer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Virginia Bliss, Pauline Mills, Eva Guthrie, Frank Annett, Paul Annett and George Annett.

Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.

Viola “Vi” Clara Kohlmeier, 95, died August 25, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society- Hutchinson Village. &nbsp;She was born June 8, 1929, to Arthur and Clara (Damman) Dittmer in rural Palmer, KS.

She graduated from 8th grade, but did go on to earn her GED. &nbsp;Vi was a school cook for many years at Linn and Kinsley schools as well as a farm wife. &nbsp;Vi enjoyed all family time and crocheting. &nbsp;She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. &nbsp;

On April 16, 1950, Vi married the love of her life Delmar Edward Kohlmeier, at Immanuel Lutheran Church west of Linn. &nbsp;They shared 47 years of marriage before his passing May 12, 1997. &nbsp;

Vi’s hobbies included her beautiful crochet work, being an excellent bowler, and dedicating her time to her family and her Lord. &nbsp;

Vi is survived by: sons, Allen (Kristie) Kohlmeier of Kinsley, Rev. Viola “Vi” Clara Kohlmeier |1929-2024|

Gary L. McClellan, 86, died August 26, 2024, at Kingman Community Hospital. &nbsp;He was born November 23, 1937, in Wellington, to Orman “Mac” and Dorothy (Argo) McClellan.

A longtime resident of Hutchinson, Gary worked more than 20 years for Farmland Indiana Steel Products Plant and 13 years as a groundskeeper at Hutchinson Community College. He was in the Kansas Air Guard from 1960-1966. &nbsp;Gary was a member of the Harley Owners Group and a Corvette owner for many years.

In June 1985, he married Marilyn (Dobbs) Martin, at McPherson. &nbsp;She died September 26, 2021.

Gary is survived by: &nbsp;son, Michael McClellan (Lisa) of Whitefish, MT; stepchildren, Karen Pepperd (Paul) of Kingman and Terry Martin of Hutchinson; stepdaughter-in-law, Rita Martin of McPherson; brother, Charles McClellan of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Dustin Densler (Dorian) and Shanna Martin; and great-grandson, Jakob Densler.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; wife; brother, Robert; and stepson, Tod.

Per Gary’s wishes, private family burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS &nbsp;67501 is in charge of arrangements.

McClellan, 86, died August 26, 2024, at Kingman Community Hospital. &nbsp;He was born November 23, 1937, in Wellington, to Orman “Mac” and Dorothy (Argo) McClellan.A longtime resident of Hutchinson, Gary worked more than 20 years for Farmland Indiana Steel Products Plant and 13 years as a groundskeeper at Hutchinson Community College. He was in the Kansas Air Guard from 1960-1966. &nbsp;Gary was a member of the Harley Owners Group and a Corvette owner for many years.In June 1985, he married Marilyn (Dobbs) Martin, at McPherson. &nbsp;She died September 26, 2021.Gary is survived by: &nbsp;son, Michael McClellan (Lisa) of Whitefish, MT; stepchildren, Karen Pepperd (Paul) of Kingman and Terry Martin of Hutchinson; stepdaughter-in-law, Rita Martin of McPherson; brother, Charles McClellan of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Dustin Densler (Dorian) and Shanna Martin; and great-grandson, Jakob Densler.&nbsp;He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; wife; brother, Robert; and stepson, Tod.Per Gary’s wishes, private family burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Kershaw, age 96, of Norman, passed away peacefully at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City on Friday, August 16, 2024. She was born in Humboldt, Kansas and graduated from Hartford High School, Hartford, Kansas. She was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to supporting her family. Betty was a loving wife of 73 years, marrying in 1950 and standing by her husband, Jerry, through thick and thin. She and Jerry moved from Hutchinson, Kansas to Norman in 1995 to be closer to their daughter and grandson.

Betty was a talented homemaker who enjoyed watching football and basketball with her husband, reading, crocheting, and creating beautiful ceramics. She was a pillar of strength for her family, especially during her husband’s long working and radio broadcasting years, as well as raising two children. She had a strong faith in God that sustained her through the deaths of her son and husband. She was a longtime member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman.

She was preceded in death by parents Thomas and Marie Boyce, a brother, Ezell, a sister, Shirley Weide, her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Kershaw, and her beloved son, Michael Kershaw. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Canfield and husband Larry of Blanchard, and her grandson, Tyler Smith and wife Tiffeny, and great-granddaughter Scottie Smith all of Oklahoma City.

Betty will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.

Dolores Ann Koehn, 79, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Moundridge Manor. She was born on March 18, 1945 in Hillsboro, Kansas, to Jona H. and Doris J. (Johnson) Dyck.

She was a member of the Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Moundridge.

Dolores was united in marriage to Gilbert Harvey Koehn on April 26, 1963 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2022.

Dolores was a devoted homemaker. She worked as a CMA and CNA at the Moundridge Manor.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Cynthia) Koehn of Louisville, GA, Denis (Whitney) Koehn of Halstead, Steve (Vianne) Koehn of Moundridge, and Ed (Melissa) Koehn of Galva; daughters, Cindy (Darrell) Becker of Halstead, and Elsie (Randy) Unruh of Lobelville, TN; 24 grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, Doug Dyck, Bruce Dyck, Marie Jantz, Ralph Dyck, Wanetta Unruh, Olive Unruh, and Rachel Unruh.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Kyle Koehn; and sister, Carolyn Maynard.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Gospel Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Burial will follow at Lone Tree Church Cemetery, rural Galva. Darrell Eugene Sutton, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in McPherson, KS on Saturday, August 24, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 30, 1956, in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; Darrell graduated from Solomon High School in 1974 and then worked at Lindsborg Implement and American Farm Supply until 1978 when he started at Hesston Corporation. Darrell worked at Hesston for more than 20 years as a certified welder. He then worked as maintenance director at Mustang Park in McPherson before moving to Lyons Salt Co. in maintenance.&nbsp; He retired from Lyons Salt Co. in 2021.

Darrell could build anything and fix anything, and was renowned for his beard and Key bib overalls. He enjoyed rooting on the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas State Wildcats, even sporting a prosthetic leg for each of those teams to show off his fandom.

He was preceded in death by his father Keith Sutton; sister Kim Dibbern; son Jeremy Sutton; and nephew Ryun Cossette.&nbsp; He is survived by his wife of more than 46 years, Debbie Sutton of McPherson, KS, son Jeff (Angie) Sutton of St. George, KS, and daughter Jessica (Ryan) Johnson of Galva, KS, along with his cherished grandkids: Casey, Cade, Ashton, Alisa, Segen, Jackson, Raylie and Baylin.&nbsp; He is also survived by his mother Vangie Sutton-Lyne of Salina, KS and sisters Kenna (Danny) Boyce of Salina and Deanna (Jack) Cossette of Solomon, KS along with many loving nephews and nieces, especially Keely.&nbsp;

A graveside service will be held at Langley Cemetery west of Marquette, KS at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 31 where his ashes will be interred and placed inside his Craftsman toolbox, that is decorated and signed by his family.&nbsp; Following at noon, friends are welcome to join the family in remembrance of Darrell at the Marquette United Methodist Church for a luncheon.
