Shirley Ann Fager, 83, died July 25, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born June 15, 1942, in Talmadge, MI, to Paul M. and Elizabeth G. (Carlisle) Smith.

Shirley graduated from Pratt High School in 1960. She attended Pratt Community College and graduated with a bachelor’s in elementary education from Wichita State University. Shirley was an elementary school teacher in Leon, Moundridge and Leroy. She enjoyed fishing, geocaching and taking photos. When living in Independence, Shirley liked to attend the Neewollah festival and would go back to Independence for the parade once she moved away. She cherished spending time with family; Shirley’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her.

Shirley is survived by: daughters, DeAnna Rice and Donna Fager, both of Hutchinson; granddaughters, Kandi (Eric Perez) Rice of Jacksonville, FL, Rebecca (William) Schreckengost of Louisburg, , Kaylie (Clinton) Irwin of Pleasanton; great-grandchildren, Tanzi Schreckengost, Waylon Schreckengost, Violet Schreckengost, Kasen Hill, Wesley Hays, Chevie Hays, Gemma Hays, Barrett Irwin, Gunner Irwin; sister, Carol (Steve) Snyder of Stillwater, OK; former husband, Ted Fager of Hutchinson; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog and companion for 13 years, Kasey.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, partner, Virginia Wilson; siblings, Doris Waldbauer, Paul M. Smith, Jr., and Richard Smith.

Memorial service will 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at First Church of God, 704 N. Jefferson, Hutchinson, with Pastor Glenn Koster, Sr. officiating. Private family burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. Friends may sign the book at Elliott Mortuary from Monday until the day of the service. Cremation has taken place.

Betty Lou (Morris) Hill, 93, of Buhler, died July 25, 2025, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. She was born January 23, 1932, in Hutchinson, to Thomas A. and Edna E. (Lisman) Morris.

Betty graduated from Yaggy Grade School and Reno Community High School in Nickerson. She was a farm wife and homemaker on the family farm near Plevna for 50 years before retiring and moving to Hutchinson. Betty was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was the organist for Huntsville and Sylvia United Methodist Churches and past member of U.M.W. She was a community leader for Huntsville 4-H Club, Secretary of Reno County 4-H Fair Board, served 3 years on Farmers Home Administration Board. Betty was also a member of Hutchinson Iris Club, joining in 1964, and American Iris Society. She also was a waitress at South Central Livestock Café, worked in the E.H.U. booth and Fine Arts Department at the Kansas State Fair for 50 years, and was inducted into “Kansas Association Hall of Fame” in 1990.

On March 23, 1952, Betty married Lloyd Grant Hill, in Nickerson. They shared 73 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: her children, Bruce Hill (Shirla) of Mountain Home, AR, Debra Crose of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Dennis Mesa of Olathe; grandchildren, Tomisha Broach (Jason), Russell Hill, Krista Cannon (Aaron), Andrea Mesa-Leathers (Chris), Brittany Mesa-Algarra (Nathan), Jessica Wingler (Jason), Megan Fitzwater (Dustin), Richard Van Deusen; 15 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Lanette Mesa; sisters, Vesta Cooper and husband Harland, Eula Mae Morris; brothers, Claude Morris and wife Doris, Amos Morris and wife Esther.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it (below) will be available beginning at 10:15 a.m. the day of the service.

Patricia Ruth Payne Evans “Pat”, 91, was born to Claudia May and William Carl Payne on July 6, 1934, in Ottawa, KS and passed away the morning of July 23, 2025, in Hutchinson, KS.

She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1951 and later that fall, on September 3, 1951, she married Evan Lloyd Evans in Lebo, KS. Most of her married life was spent living in Lebo where she was active in the community and the United Methodist Church. In 2018, she and Evan moved to Legend of Hutchinson, where they enjoyed a life in assisted living, close to family and five loving and entertaining great-grandchildren. She became involved with Grace Bible Church and taught bible lessons at Legen of Hutchinson.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Evan and son, Evan Eugene Evans.

She is survived by daughter, Chrystal Milazzo, grandson, Evan Michael Chorney and his partner, David Sanchez; daughter, Connie Horton and her husband, Roy; grandson, Bart Horton and his wife, Amy; and great grandchildren, Clive, Vera, Tali, Burton, and Hudson Horton. Additional survivors are siblings, Bill Payne, Barbara Plescia and Francie Payne and former daughter-in-law, Shelby Evans.

The Lord blessed Pat with a sweet spirit and a generous heart. She loved people and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. Pat was especially fond of children. She taught Sunday School and founded the Lebo Pre-School. She was very creative and did a variety of sewing and craft projects. In her 40’s she decided to buy a flock of 50 ewes and a ram. Not only did she become a successful shepherdess, but she promoted lamb meat in grocery stores and learned to card and weave wool. Evan always had a project, and Pat was his able assistant from the clearing of brush to building a canoe. Pat’s life was never dull. She would tell you, “It was a good life!” She loved Jesus, her Savior, very much. She would strive to model her life based on his example. During the end of her life, she looked forward to joining him in Heaven and reuniting with Saints who had gone before her.

Billy Ray Ackley, 79, passed away on July 24, 2025, at his home in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on September 20, 1945, in Cherokee, OK to Clyde Emmett and Sarah Ann (Whitehead) Ackley.

Billy attended school in Cherokee, OK and Ulysses, KS. On May 22, 1971, Billy married Helen Sharpe in Scott City, KS. He worked for Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in the HVAC maintenance department.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and numerous loved ones.

Billy is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Bryan (Miranda) Ackley; daughter, Annell Ackley; sisters, Ruth Ann Kirby and Irma Elliott; grandson, Nathan Ackley and a granddaughter, Avalyn Ackley. He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Billy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Jed Koontz, 48, passed away unexpectedly in his home on July 21st, 2025. &nbsp;He was born on May 23, 1977 to Jake and Bobbie (Rudicel) Koontz in Hutchinson, Kansas. &nbsp;

Jed lived in Hutchinson Kansas for his entire life and graduated from Nickerson High School in 1995. &nbsp;In high school, Jed wrestled and played football – as a wrestler, he won 2nd at State. &nbsp;After graduation from Nickerson High School in 1995, Jed worked at Dillons Warehouse for the last 27 years. &nbsp;

Jed was known among his friends and family for his witty sense of humor – often making you laugh so hard, you would cry. &nbsp;Jed loved playing golf with his buddies and fishing in the Minnesota/Canadian Boundary Waters for small mouth bass with his Dad. &nbsp;He also enjoyed bird hunting with his Dad. &nbsp;Jed was very kind and generous – always helping his folks with many, many projects without complaint. &nbsp;Our hearts are broken by his sudden loss and he will be dearly missed. &nbsp;

Jed is survived by: his parents Jake and Bobbie Koontz of Hutchinson, KS, his sister Denny (partner John Hormell) Koontz of Fayetteville, AR; aunts Kemba (Bob) DeGroot of Cary, NC and Nita (Larry) Sherrill of Valley Center, KS and his cousins Angie Miller and Lori Sherrill of Valley Center, KS.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Lois Rudicel and his paternal grandparents, Mary Jo and Johnny Koontz.&nbsp;

Henry Michael “Mike” Wolenhaupt, 75, of Centralia, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at Odin Healthcare Center.

He was born on August 10, 1949 to Henry and Bernice Wolenhaupt. He was the oldest of three brothers Marc and Brad.

His calling as a highly talented craftsman began at a very early age. Throughout his career he wore many different hats most notably as a carpenter builder and auto body expert. He proudly served as an Air Force crew chief sergeant at McConnell Air Force base in Wichita Kansas. There he met Christina Garcia, they wed and had three children: Henry, John, and Nicholaus. During this time, he also converted to Catholicism and was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus. He also volunteered or taught in many other church organizations. He later returned to Centralia Illinois and married to Kimberly Webb. He continued in his craft until his health dictated otherwise. In his final years, as his health faded he resigned to offer his sufferings to the one who suffered for him.

He passed peacefully leaving behind his mother: Bernice and brother: Marc. His first and second wives, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other family members and friends. Left is a legacy of high talent, humor, patriotism and dedication to those he loved.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia with Father Steven Pautler officiating. A Rosary service will be held at 10:00 am at the Church. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Church on Saturday. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055.

Dale Harold Fredrick, known regionally as Mike Daniels while working as a DJ for Arizona radio stations KGMN and KFLG, as well as other stations in Wisconsin, Michigan, Colorado, and Wyoming, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of July 20th, 2025, from natural causes.&nbsp;

Dale was a loving father and husband, a supportive friend, and was loved by anyone who met him.&nbsp;

He is survived by: his wife Peggi; ex-wife, Laurie; three daughters, Krista, Betsy, and Shondale; three sons, Tom, Ben, and Bryan; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, who will continue to love and miss him dearly.&nbsp;

He will join: his two brothers, beloved dog Hualipai, and both parents in the next life.&nbsp;

Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. The family asks for privacy and thanks friends and loved ones for their love and support at this time.

Joanne was born on August 12, 1928 in York, Pennsylvania. &nbsp;She was the older of two children.&nbsp; Her brother Ken was born five years later. &nbsp;Her grandparents been contacted by the Bible students and witnessed to her father and mother and they began to study. &nbsp;Joanne remembers her father coming home from the 1931 Assembly excitedly telling them, “We are now known as Jehovah’s Witnesses!” &nbsp;

Joanne was baptized in 1941 in St. Louis. &nbsp;In December of 1945, she met Jack Davies who was in the full time ministry in their town and they were married on June 29, 1947. &nbsp;

They began married life in the preaching work full time together. &nbsp;Their first assignments were in different Pennsylvania towns.&nbsp; In 1953 they were assigned to the traveling ministry or circuit work in North Carolina. &nbsp;In 1954 an invitation arrived to attend the Watchtower School of Gilead for missionaries. &nbsp;Upon graduation they were again assigned to circuit work but this time in the Central Valley of California. &nbsp;They soon found out Joanne was pregnant and with a “circuit breaker” on the way they left the traveling work. After their daughters Becky and Priscilla were born, they moved to Huntington Beach and lived there until their move to Kansas in 1993.

After living in Southern California, Joanne had a hard time adjusting to Kansas weather but came to enjoy the slower pace of life, feeding the birds and of course, creating new friendships. &nbsp;She and Jack were part of the “Gray Panthers” or “Geritol Group” afternoon book study and they enjoyed the friends and the association at meals after the meeting.&nbsp;

Since Jack had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, it progressed to the point of needing more care, so in 2007 they moved into an apartment Ezra &amp; Becky had built on to their home with handicap accessible features. &nbsp;Jack passed in January of 2008 knowing Joanne would be well cared for.

As the years went by Joanne found a variety of ways to keep herself busy besides the ministry. &nbsp;Who can forget her blueberry muffins, homemade bread, and morning glory muffins? She loved her wood burning stove in the winter and in the summer would look forward to Gaddert corn and Colorado peaches. &nbsp;Visiting her family in California and having them visit her in Kansas was always a highlight.

During Covid she found herself desperate to DO something so she began making teddy bears en masse. She had always made small quilts and bears for special occasions but now began a real production. &nbsp;The family estimates she made and shipped out over 300 bears over the years, receiving many photos and thank you’s from happy children and their mothers.

After Covid and her second round of cancer was treated, her strength and balance began to be affected so she became a regular on Zoom for the letter writing ministry, writing hundreds of letters, and receiving several replies!

In January 2025 she began having issues breathing and after tests 24/7 oxygen was ordered along with the news of pulmonary fibrosis and congestive heart failure. &nbsp;In February hospice began and with their excellent care, she stayed fairly happy and comfortable until her passing, July 21, 2025. She had a "long and satisfying life" (Job 42:17) but we look forward to seeing her again soon, strong and healthy in the coming resurrection! Acts 24:15 and Revelations 21:3-4.&nbsp;

The family would like to express the deepest gratitude to several: &nbsp;Dorothy Rosas, Karen Muñoz and Jaclyn Smith for their loving assistance and Doctors Mark Yackley and Fadi Estaphan for their thorough and compassionate care over the years. &nbsp;We particularly would like to highlight the untiring work of hospice nurses, Donna and Lindsey, social worker Marla but especially and most loved, Kim. &nbsp;They became like family over the months and deserve every bit of commendation they get for their caregiving and education. &nbsp;We’d also like to convey our gratitude for the love and support of our worldwide brotherhood. &nbsp;Prayers from South Africa to Peru to India have been appreciated as well as the extraordinary support and love of the local friends. Geraldine F. “Gerry” Schaff, 82, passed away on July 21, 2025, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. She was born on November 15, 1942, in Buhl, Idaho, to John V. Cline and Doris J. (Comfort) Brown.

Gerry graduated from Longford High School (Longford, KS) in 1960. She married Leonard L. Schaff on November 17, 1962, in Abilene, KS. Gerry worked as a CNA for Good Samaritan Center and Mt. Hope Nursing Center as well as an LPN for Memorial Hospital in Abilene, KS. Gerry enjoyed sewing, quilting, KU Basketball and being outside working in the flower garden.

Gerry is survived by: husband, Leonard; daughters, Shelly Bliss, Candy Beckerman (Lee) and Christi Schultz (Darrell); grandchildren, Zac Schaff, Cody Borden, Austin Borden (Chelsea), Trenedee Stone, Brandon Beckerman (Aubrey), Taylor Larsen (Kody), Kacie Stacey (Michael) and Jace Schultz; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Verla Akana; several nieces and nephews; and fur grandbaby, Ella.

Gerry is preceded in death by: her parents; brother, George Cline; and grandson, Seth Borden.

He then moved to Overland Park, Kansas, where he resided the last thirty-eight years, and continued in real estate as an agent. In his retirement he enjoyed helping his wife with her real estate career. On June 27, 1964, he married Monte Helen Williams at Grace Episcopal Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. Monte was the great love of his life and best friend for over 60 years. They were blessed with two daughters, Susan Summers and Shannon Leasiolagi (Stoa) and their sons Zachary Jacobson, Jayden Jacobson, Lio Leasiolagi, Joey Leasiolagi, and Malachi Hughes. Wright and Monte also loved and enjoyed over 40 years with three bonus sons, Martin Wright, Todd Wilke, and Jimmie Keas. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Summers of Hutchinson, Kansas.</div>

Janis Kay Norquist, 89, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away peacefully at her home June 29, 2025. She was born July 11, 1935, to Wilbur (Bud) and Cecyle McGonigle on a farm near Nickerson.

Kay lived in Reno County for the first half of her life. She married Bob Norquist in 1955. They had two sons- Bret and Bart. She taught school for over thirty years staring in Arlington, KS, before retiring from the Aurora Colorado District in 1998.

She is survived by: sons, Bret and wife Gay of Hayward, WI, and Bart of Plevna/Grand Junction; granddaughter, Kara Tonn; grandson, Ryan Norquist; grandchildren, Arianna Gonzales, Lakin Pruitt, Maverick and Noah Tonn all of Hutchinson.

Kay was preceded in death by: her parents; life partner, Gary Wafe; sisters, Janet Ritcha and Beth Boeka; and infant great-grandson, Cade Tonn.

Cremation has taken place. No service is planned.

Thomas R. Savard, 68, passed away on July 18, 2025, at Family Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on December 1, 1956, in Attleboro, MA to Thomas O. and Margaret (Bouchard) Savard.

Thomas enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1973 and was honorably discharged in 1976. On June 5, 1978, Thomas married Rose E. Bybee in Hutchinson, KS.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Nancy Paul and Jackie Savard.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Rose Savard; three daughters, Tamey Savard, Dawn (Tim) Sanford, and Diane Savard; one sister, Pauline Dubois; three grandchildren, Stefan Savard, Amber Sanford and Isabella Sanford; and two great grandchildren, Luciana Rodriguez and Lilliana Savard.

Per Thomas’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Dillon Nature Center cabin. Jay L. Moore, 84, of Hutchinson, died July 21, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1941, in Hutchinson, to Howard and Viola (Woods-Baker) Moore.&nbsp;

Jay was a life-long pharmacist in Hutchinson. He worked for Self Service Drugs and Scaggs, but was better known as the local pharmacist at Osco Drug. Jay was involved in the Reno County Genealogical Society. He enjoyed reading books about American History and Presidential History. Jay was an avid consumer of knowledge and enjoyed historical content. &nbsp;

On June 10, 1967, he married his sweetheart, Lenora “Jeannie” Shultz, in Newton, Kansas. They shared nearly 45 years of marriage before her death on May 27, 2013. They were active members of St. Teresa’s and then Holy Cross Catholic Church.&nbsp;

Jay is survived by: sons, Sean (Michele) Moore, Carbondale, KS, and Mark (Nikki) Moore, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: his parents, beloved wife, Jeannie Moore; sister, Vicki Moore; and brothers, Wesley Moore, and Curtis Moore.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd., Hutchinson, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Jerold L. “Jerry” Poe, 79, of Hutchinson, died July 20, 2025, at his home. He was born November 26, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Martin and Martha (Murphy) Poe.&nbsp;

Jerry graduated from Gardner High School in 1965. He obtained his bachelor’s in chemical engineering from University of Kansas in 1983. Jerry retired from being the technology director for Compass Minerals where he worked for 26 years. He was a laboratory consultant and then became the laboratory manager for Jacam Chemicals from 2016 to 2018. Jerry also owned and operated JLP Consulting since 2016.&nbsp;

On November 26, 1977, he married Susanne Narr in Gardner, Kansas. They shared 47 years of marriage before his death. He loved his family and his Lord.&nbsp;

Jerry had a great, crazy sense of humor that kept us laughing, even up to the end. He was a problem solver always ready with a helping hand. He will be greatly missed.&nbsp;

Jerry is survived by: beloved wife, Susie Poe; children, Amanda (Scott) Baughman, Kara (Wendy Byer) Poe, John (Carolyn) Poe, and Richard (Pam) Poe; siblings, Ruth (Walt) Hull, Bud (Carmen) Poe, and Anita Poe; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Pam was born on May 25th to Marvin and Peggy Phipps.

Pam attended North Reno grade school and Nickerson high school.

She was a very hard worker who took pride in what she did, and making the best at what she had. Working in various capacities starting as a waitress at Hickory Gables, dog grooming, care-giving, house cleaning painting and wall-papering, owning her own business making dog doors and helping out with estate sales.

Pam loved crafting, frequently attended garage sales, and enjoyed playing bunko.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Hutchinson, serving in various capacities.

She had 3 children, Vicky, Jeremy and Tina.

Pam is survived by spouse John Edwards and daughters Vicky Edwards and Tina Edwards. 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Five siblings, Mike Phipps, Doug Phipps, Bob Phipps, Randy Phipps and Cheri Phipps along with several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Jeremy Edwards, sister Cheryl Saiz, brother Bill Phipps and best friend and cousin Marilyn Dunsworth.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Everett L. Pettay, 87, passed away on July 19, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society - Hutchinson Village in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on December 24, 1937, in Helena, OK to Rufus and Ruth (Miller) Pettay.

Everett loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a storyteller to whomever would listen and knew all the best gossip. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Ruth; several brothers and sisters; and a sister-in-law, Vi Pettay.

Everett is survived by his daughter, Karen (Mark) Spanyer; son, Thomas (Melissa) Pettay; brother, Jack Pettay; four grandchildren, Leslie (Steven) Richey, Christopher Pettay, Erik Pettay and Kyle Pettay; seven great grandchildren, Adam, Victoria, Ethan Pettay, Michael Richey, Daniel and Kolton Pettay, Mary Ann Richey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dr. Linda Erickson, 84, of Hutchinson, passed away July 18, 2025, at Meadowlark Adult Care Center, Mt Hope, Kansas. She was born October 26, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, to George and Tena Wetzel.&nbsp;

Linda graduated from Hutchinson High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University. She earned her Doctorate Degree of Philosophy, with honors, from The University of Pennsylvania. After earning her Doctorate, she taught philosophy at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. She assisted in several research projects when she returned to Kansas State University, continuing to expand her academic achievements.&nbsp;

During Linda’s varied academic life, she became friends with various educational co-workers around the world. She kept in close touch through the years with many of these friends.&nbsp;

She belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church, where Linda attended as a child and rejoined when returning to Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Linda is survived by: her sister-in-law, Maribell Wetzel of Hutchinson, nephew Reed Wetzel, Wichita, and great nieces, Isla and Amity Wetzel of Wichita.&nbsp;

She was preceded by her parents, George and Tena Wetzel and brother, Keith Wetzel.

Dr. Linda G. Erickson |1941-2025|

Carolyn Anne Dillon, aged 93, died at home on July 20, 2025.

She was born on January 6, 1932, in Wichita Kansas, to Dale and Helen Critser. She graduated from Wichita East High School, and then studied at the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

On May 3, 1952, she married Dick Dillon and moved to Hutchinson, where she lived for the remainder of her life. They were married for over 50 years before Dick’s passing in 2002.

In her younger years she was an avid tennis player, winning the city mixed doubles title with her tennis partner Lynn Harris. Her strategy for winning was to play the net and let her partner cover the rest of the court, and it worked.&nbsp;

Carolyn and Dick had three sons, each of whom earned his Eagle Scout award through Troop 1, due largely to Carolyn’s support, encouragement and perseverance.

She was an excellent bridge player, playing in tournaments all over the country with her partner Ruth Dillon, and they both earned their Life Master designation for duplicate bridge.

Carolyn was an accomplished amateur potter, throwing, glazing and firing her works in her own gas kiln for over 40 years. She was involved in the arts for decades, serving on the Mid- America Arts Alliance board of directors for twenty years, the Wichita Grand Opera board for eleven years, the Kansas Arts Commission for four years, and the Advisory Board to the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.

She served for six years on the Friends of Cedar Crest board of directors, a group tasked with raising money for the maintenance and upkeep of the Governor’s Mansion in Topeka. While on that board, she oversaw a major renovation and redecoration of the residence.

Carolyn was active locally in the Living Land Foundation, helping to create and oversee the Dillon Nature Center, and also served on the board of the Dillon Lecture Series, bringing in guest speakers from all over the country. She worked with both groups for over 30 years.

She was fortunate to have Dr. Bob Shears in her life for a period of years after both of their spouses had passed. She treasured his company during those years, and Bob became an important member of the family. Bob passed in 2019.

She was well known for writing humorous adaptations of popular songs in collaboration with her good friend Peter MacDonald, former editor of the Hutchinson News, to celebrate friends’ house warmings, anniversaries and birthdays. Peter penned the lyrics, and Carolyn played the piano and was the song leader, demanding that all present join in the singing. She was rarely refused.

Carolyn is survived by her sons Brad and his wife Tammy, Reed and his wife Stacey and Steve and his wife Angel, together with Tammy’s children Haley and her husband Marc, Austin and his wife Sara, &nbsp;Reed and Stacey’s children Grayson and his wife Kaylin, Gabrielle and her husband Dylan, and Steve’s children Chad and his wife Kathleen, Joe, Mark and his partner Mandi, and Angel’s children Eugene and his wife Risa and Whitney and her partner Mike.  </figure>Carolyn Anne Dillon, aged 93, died at home on July 20, 2025.She was born on January 6, 1932, in Wichita Kansas, to Dale and Helen Critser. She graduated from Wichita East High School, and then studied at the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.On May 3, 1952, she married Dick Dillon and moved to Hutchinson, where she lived for the remainder of her life. They were married for over 50 years before Dick’s passing in 2002.In her younger years she was an avid tennis player, winning the city mixed doubles title with her tennis partner Lynn Harris. Her strategy for winning was to play the net and let her partner cover the rest of the court, and it worked.&nbsp;Carolyn and Dick had three sons, each of whom earned his Eagle Scout award through Troop 1, due largely to Carolyn’s support, encouragement and perseverance.She was an excellent bridge player, playing in tournaments all over the country with her partner Ruth Dillon, and they both earned their Life Master designation for duplicate bridge.Carolyn was an accomplished amateur potter, throwing, glazing and firing her works in her own gas kiln for over 40 years. She was involved in the arts for decades, serving on the Mid- America Arts Alliance board of directors for twenty years, the Wichita Grand Opera board for eleven years, the Kansas Arts Commission for four years, and the Advisory Board to the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.She served for six years on the Friends of Cedar Crest board of directors, a group tasked with raising money for the maintenance and upkeep of the Governor’s Mansion in Topeka. While on that board, she oversaw a major renovation and redecoration of the residence.Carolyn was active locally in the Living Land Foundation, helping to create and oversee the Dillon Nature Center, and also served on the board of the Dillon Lecture Series, bringing in guest speakers from all over the country. She worked with both groups for over 30 years.She was fortunate to have Dr. Bob Shears in her life for a period of years after both of their spouses had passed. She treasured his company during those years, and Bob became an important member of the family. Bob passed in 2019.She was well known for writing humorous adaptations of popular songs in collaboration with her good friend Peter MacDonald, former editor of the Hutchinson News, to celebrate friends’ house warmings, anniversaries and birthdays. Peter penned the lyrics, and Carolyn played the piano and was the song leader, demanding that all present join in the singing. She was rarely refused.Carolyn is survived by her sons Brad and his wife Tammy, Reed and his wife Stacey and Steve and his wife Angel, together with Tammy’s children Haley and her husband Marc, Austin and his wife Sara, &nbsp;Reed and Stacey’s children Grayson and his wife Kaylin, Gabrielle and her husband Dylan, and Steve’s children Chad and his wife Kathleen, Joe, Mark and his partner Mandi, and Angel’s children Eugene and his wife Risa and Whitney and her partner Mike. Donald E. Cooper, 82, of Hutchinson, formerly of Haven, passed away on July 19, 2025, at Hutchinson Health and Rehab. He was born August 21, 1942, the son of Irvin and Gertrude (Kranz) Cooper.

He graduated from Haven High School with the class of 1960. Don was a veteran, serving in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany.

Don was an over-the-road truck driver based out of Texas. He later drove for Groendyke Trucking for many years. In 1990 he suffered a stroke and has since resided in nursing homes. He loved doing crafts, had an extensive barbed wire collection and was a huge fan of WWE wrestling.

Don was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Haven.

Don was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a special friend, Deb Geffert of Hutchinson; brother, Robert (Kathy) of Haven; and several nieces and nephews.

Rosalea Ann Russell, 99, passed away on July 17, 2025, at her home in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born on November 16, 1925, in Hutchinson to Cecil Zeke and Elda (Schlegel) Brice-Nash.

Rosalea attended high school in Arkansas. On June 9, 1963, Rosalea married Harold B. Russell in Newton, KS. He passed away on October 23, 1998. She was a homemaker, and a beloved mother and grandmother. Throughout her life, Rosalea had many accomplishments and achievements. When she was younger, she performed acrobatics. She enjoyed scooping ice cream at the Dairy Barn at the Kansas State Fair, Rosalea was a Girl Scout Leader, a rabbit breeder with her daughter Layn, a lifetime gardener, an accomplished artist and painting instructor at Delos V. Smith Senior Center, and line danced in her 90’s. She was a member of the Wheat Hearts Club, and VFW Post 1361-Hutchinson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; daughter, Laurieta Rash-Alexander; son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Gillham; daughter-in-law, Margaret Freeman; and brother-in-law, Fredrick “Fritz” Mohrman.

Rosalea is survived by her children, Linda Freeman- Gillham, Brice Freeman, Robbie Rash- Scott, Beth Elaine “Layn” Russell and husband Glenn Greenfield; sister, Jan Mohrman; numerous, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.

Dwight Eldon Cramer, 92, died July 18, 2025, in Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born September 24, 1932, in rural Sylvia, KS, to Edward Lee and Josie Ellen (Miller) Cramer.&nbsp;

Dwight graduated from Sylvia High School and served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1953. &nbsp;He retired from Koch Industries as an accountant and chief estimator, after 48 years of service. &nbsp;Dwight enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals with his son. &nbsp;He appreciated the outdoors, and could often be found sitting outside, in all types of weather on his bench, partaking in his favorite hobby. &nbsp;In addition, Dwight made sure his family, friends, and caregivers always knew how much he appreciated everything they did for him, even the small tasks. Above all, Dwight cherished time spent with his family. &nbsp;

On September 13, 1951, he married Phyllis Marie Hall, at First Baptist Church, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She died November 7, 2019, after they shared 68 years of marriage. &nbsp;

Dwight is survived by: &nbsp;daughters, Sherry Miller of Kechi, Pam Saner (Ron) of Park City, and Christie Hanna of Hutchinson; son, Greg Cramer (Connie Oliver) of Wichita; sister, Geneva Hesher of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; wife; four sisters; one brother; and a grandson.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Elliott Chapel. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Sylvia Cemetery, with military honors presented by the United States Navy Honor Guard. &nbsp;Friends may sign his book from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.

Deloris E. Friesen was born on March 19, 1940 in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Arnie D. and Martha M. (Thiessen) Balzer of Inman. She was the oldest of three children. She passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the age of 85 years.

She married LeRoy Friesen on September 1, 1962 in the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. Deloris and LeRoy lived in Buhler and were active in church activities. They would have celebrated 63 years together this year.

Deloris started grade school in Omaha and continued in Inman, then graduated from Central Kansas Bible Academy (CCS) Hutchinson in 1958. She continued studies at Grace Bible Institute, Omaha, Nebraska.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and served in church faithfully especially enjoying playing piano, singing in choir and various small groups. She affected many lives with her talents, sense of humor, and interesting antics!

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bradlee James Friesen in 2007; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Yutzy.

She is survived by her husband, LeRoy of Buhler; surviving children: son, Ken and his wife Tammy of Manhattan, KS; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Friesen of Durham, NC, and daughter, Joni Hackett and her husband Lance of O’Fallon, MO; as well as eight grandchildren, Jamison (Sidney) Friesen, Manhattan, KS, Tyler (Reggy) Friesen, Des Moines, IA, Alyssa Friesen, Manhattan, KS, Emma, Claire and Annie Friesen, Durham, NC, Sam and Brody Hackett, O’Fallon, MO; and two great-granddaughters, Paige and Amaia.

Also surviving are her siblings, Judy Yutzy and Loren (Jane) Balzer all of Buhler; and LeRoy’s siblings, Mel (Arlene) Friesen, Nebraska, Jeanie (Don) Williams, Nebraska, and Neva (Marlin) Chaussee, South Dakota.

Deloris faithfully followed Christ and loved her family, as well as her church. The family will remember her as a delightful, caring and fun mother and grandmother.

Mary A. Dove, 74, died July 12, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society - Hutchinson Village. She was born on September 5, 1950, in Rock Rapids, IA, to Palmer and Eula A. (Shropshire) Jerde.

Mary graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. She worked as a florist for over 40 years and enjoyed making beautiful arrangements for the community. Mary taught Vacation Bible School for many years at First Christian Church, Burrton, and taught classes at craft camp in Salina. Her family was always excited to learn new crafts with her. Some of her other talents included cooking and baking with a few favorites being her peanut butter cake, fudge, potato salad, “mouse” burgers and her grandma’s sugar cookies.

Mary loved going to flea markets, garage sales, the Kansas State Fair, pumpkin patches, and traveling. A couple of her favorite trips were to Minnesota, Maine, and to visit Graceland in Tennessee. A huge Elvis fan, she collected records, glassware, clothing and anything Elvis!
