Jimmy P. “Jim” Elliott, 90, died April 20, 2025, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born September 24, 1934, in Fort Scott, KS to Fred Preston and Katherine Virginia (Carr) Elliott.

Jim moved to Hutchinson in 1946 and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952. &nbsp;His talent on the track earned him a title at the state track meet, which later led to a track scholarship at the University of Kansas (KU). &nbsp;He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and graduated from the KU School of Business in 1957. &nbsp;Jim was one of three from his KU track team to talk a freshman basketball player into going out for track. &nbsp;That person was Wilt Chamberlain who won the high jump for Kansas in a league meet three straight years. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Jim’s business acumen, work ethic, and love for his community were evident throughout his life. &nbsp;He began his sales career in the petrochemical industry with Spencer Chemical which later became Gulf Oil. &nbsp;From there he moved on to Rubbermaid. During these years he lived in Atlanta, GA and Statesville, NC until 1977. &nbsp;

While in North Carolina, Jim was also involved in the furniture industry with Henredon and Broyhill Furniture companies.&nbsp;

He worked in Investment Banking in Little Rock, Arkansas, until 1986, when he returned to Hutchinson, KS to work in the budding cellular phone business. &nbsp;

He spent three years as sales manager for Superior Boiler prior to joining Collins Bus. &nbsp;While with Collins Bus, he held various sales management roles before retiring from there in 1994.

He then worked, until 2013, for Masters Transportation as a sales representative, selling Collins Buses throughout Kansas. &nbsp;At that time, he rejoined Collins Bus as a sales consultant holding several sales management positions, concentrating on the Central and Western Regions with Collins Bus until 2020 when he officially retired. &nbsp;

All things sports, especially Golf, were a love of Jim’s life. &nbsp;He was a member of Prairie Dunes Country Club for 40 years, serving as president in 2011. &nbsp;His name can be found inscribed on plaques at Prairie Dunes as a winner of various tournaments.

Jim was proud of Hutchinson and was pleased to serve on the Fox Theatre Board for six years and the Hutchinson Symphony Board for three years. &nbsp;Jim was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church.&nbsp;

On February 14, 1997, he married Shelia Ann (Scott) Austin, in Santa Fe, NM. They shared 28 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Jim is survived by his wife, Shelia Austin Elliott; son, Todd Elliott (Natalie) and their children, Maggie and Davis Elliott, daughter, Jill Engle (Joe) and their children, Jake Engle (Jaima), Lauren DeLeon, and Tyler Engle; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Luke Engle; stepsons, Jeffrey Austin (Lisa) and children, Olivia Wernel (John), Bennett, and Genevieve Austin (fiancé Evan Saunders), Joel Austin (Mary) and children, Jensen (Marisa), Nicklaus, and Reese Austin, Iklishi and Ashe Udie, Dr. Jonathan Austin (fiancé Molly LeBanc) and children, Hunter, and Fischer Austin, and Jason Austin (Jaime) and children Riley, Aiden, and Charlee Holst; sister, Nancy Burke and her children John and Erin Burke Foss (Greg); sister-in-law, Deborah Duncan and child, Hunter Elliott.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Elliott; brother, Jerry Elliott; and a niece, Meredith Elliott.&nbsp;

A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 10am on June 21, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. &nbsp; A private family inurnment will take place in the Church Columbarium ahead of the service. Friends may sign his book at the service or from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;The family will receive friends, following his service at the church, until noon. &nbsp;

James Lee Huffman, 77, died April 28, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in Hutchinson. He was born July 2, 1947, in Scott City, to Robert and Elizabeth (Kohl) Huffman.

James graduated from Nickerson High School in 1965. He served in the United States Navy and Navy Reserves for six years. James worked as a mechanic for over 40 years at the Kansas Department of Transportation and Bob’s Truck Repair, Hutchinson. James enjoyed working on cars and coaching his children’s baseball teams. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson.

On November 20, 1970, he married Kathleen “Kathy” Joyce Ward, in Hutchinson. They shared over 52 years of marriage, prior to her death on December 7, 2022.

James is survived by: his children, Mike (Emily) Huffman of Manhattan, David Huffman of Kechi, Teresa Huffman of Hutchinson; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Blachford of Alden, Jean (Mike) Ober of Cottonwood, AZ, Vera Frye of Lyons, Dee Huffman of Skiatook, OK, Joe (Leslie) Huffman of Hutchinson, and Barb (Lou) Winterfield of Fountain Hills, AZ.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Kathy Huffman; and brothers, Frank and Tom Huffman.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., Hutchinson, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Angela Kay Smith, age 57, of Hutchinson on April 26, 2025. Angie passed peacefully, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with early onset Alzheimer’s.

Born on July 5, 1967, in Hutchinson to Donald Linebaugh and Karen Owen. Graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1985. Angie met Lance while working at Dillons 5th and Adams in 1986. Encouraged by their friend Sarah, who told Angie she needed to get to know Lance. &nbsp;The two quickly formed a special bond and found something lasting. &nbsp;They were married August 15th, 1987.She was married to her devoted husband, Lance, for 37 wonderful years. Together they have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Angie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

&nbsp;Angie worked many years at Dillons as a Pharmacy Technician. She took off and stayed home to raise their children and had a small daycare. Angie last worked for the Hutchinson Clinic as a Surgery Scheduler for many years.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Angie found immense joy in spending time with her family, particularly with her children and grandchildren, who brought her so much happiness. She cherished family vacations, especially Caribbean Cruises or Disney World and treasured the memories she made with those she loved.

Angie is survived by her husband, Lance Smith; her children, Heather Smith, Brittany Aden (spouse, Zach Aden), Dallas Smith (spouse, Chloe Smith), and Nickolas Smith. Grandchildren; Jersey, Braydee, Blaze, Noah, Caleb, River, and Sutton. sisters, Kim Linebaugh, Annette Dixon (spouse Eddie Dixon), and Michelle Pease. &nbsp;Parents; Karen Owen and Donald Linebaugh. Angie was also Aunt Gigi to many nieces and nephews.

Angie’s love for her family and her kind-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on through her family.

Verla Marie Brewer, 74, died April 24, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born May 24, 1950, in Little River, to Trammel Edward Elliott and Verne Delores Clapp.

Verla dedicated over 40 years of her life to Hubco, where she worked in many roles and helped create thousands of their bags. She had a deep love for gardening, especially flowers, and enjoyed painting, watching birds, playing cards, BUNCO, and creating Wahoo Boards with her beloved husband. Verla and her husband, Clinton, shared an immense passion for dancing. After taking lessons together, they eventually went on to teach others how to dance — a joy they loved sharing.

Verla was a familiar face at the Hutchinson Moose Lodge #982, as well as the Senior Center at Elmdale Park and the Delos V. Smith Senior Center. Her faith was important to her; she was a former member of Eastwood Church of Christ and a current member of First Christian Church, where she was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship.

On February 21, 1968, Verla married Clinton Bernard Brewer in Hutchinson. They shared 57 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on March 18, 2025.

Verla’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by: daughters, Carrie Brewer of Salina and Penny Bettles of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Michael Bettles of Salina; sisters, Edna Keeler of Hutchinson, Janice Kitson of Texas, &nbsp;Jaunita “Irene” Monroe of Haviland, and twin-sister, Betty Crawford (David) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Rachel Storm, Mason Bettles, Bryson Bettles, and Jaxson Bettles; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Storm, all of Salina; sister-in-law, Anita Brewer of Salina; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Trammel Elliott; mother, Verne Harsh; husband, Clinton Brewer; daughter, Jennefer Brewer; brothers-in-law, Francis Monroe and Jack Brewer; and sister-in-law, Linda Briner.

She will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering patience, vibrant and ornery spirit, her creativity, and the love she shared with everyone who knew her.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that Verla and Clinton are together again after only 37 days, dancing, laughing and holding their precious daughter, Jennefer.&nbsp;

Memorial Service for both Verla and Clinton will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at First Christian Church, 15 E. 5th, Avenue, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Private inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, at a later date.&nbsp;

Marcella Joyce Risley, 86, left Pretty Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, Kansas to join her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ on April 26, 2025.

She was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Charles Allen and Rosella (Graber) Risley the first of seven children.

She graduated from Adams High School, Wichita Business School and Prairie Bible Institute, Alberta, Canada.

Marcy taught Child Evangelism Classes, worked at Back to the Bible Broadcast in Lincoln, Nebraska and did mission work in Bogota, Columbia with New Tribes Missions.

She owned and operated Marcy’s Alterations for thirty years retiring at age 80.

Marcy is survived by her brothers Leroy and wife Elaine, Kenneth and wife Therese; sisters Wanita Lampe, Arlene King and husband David; thirteen nieces, nephews and their spouses and children. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jeanette Helm and her husband Raymond, Gloryanne Simons and her husband Floyd; and brother-in-law Larry D. Lampe.

Adrian Montes, 65, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, KS. Adrian was born on December 2, 1959, in Juarez, Mexico, the son of Francisco and Felicitas (Candia) Montes.

On August 22, 1978, Adrian married Maria L. Arevalo in El Paso, TX. He worked for the City of Hutchinson as a water maintenance operator and retired after 30 years in 2022. Adrian was a member of the Central Kansas Gun Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; two sisters; a granddaughter, Ximena Hernandez and one nephew, Mundo Silva.

Adrian is survived by his wife, Maria; two daughters, Adriana Montes and Mirna (Rene Gutierrez) Montes; one son, Adrian (Mirna Bonilla) Montes Jr.; one sister, Linda Sifuentes; six grandchildren, Martin Ramos, Roman Gutierrez, Rolan Gutierrez, Francisco Hernandez, Mia Gutierrez and Kamila Hernandez; and three great grandchildren, Mariana Ramos, Eileen Ramos and Martin Ramos Jr.

Rae Ann Cuda, 78, died April 25, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born on September 27, 1946, in Pittsburg, KS, to John Harman and Coral Arline (McClure) Chastain.

Rae graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1964. She attended Fort Hays State University and earned her Master of speech-pathology from Wichita State University. Rae worked as a speech therapist for USD 308 and surrounding schools. After her retirement, she continued her passion in speech therapy by working at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and local nursing homes. Rae enjoyed photography; she used her talents to publish a set of photo-based speech therapy flashcards. She also liked to write and was an author of many books, including mysteries and children’s books. Rae was a friend to everyone; she was instrumental in high school class reunions and monthly get-togethers. She was a former member of Park Place Christian Church, and current member of Calvary Chapel.

On February 26, 1972, Rae married Donald Wayne “Don” Cuda, in Hutchinson. They shared almost 43 years of marriage, prior to his death on February 10, 2015.&nbsp;

Rae is survived by: her son, Jason (Trisha) Cuda; grandchildren, Aidyn and Scarlett Cuda, all of Avondale Estates, GA; brothers, Jim (Pam) Chastain of South Hutchinson and John (Sharon) Chastain of Hutchinson; nieces, Amy Chastain of Alva, OK and Kayla Salas of Hutchinson; as well as several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Cuda; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Chastain.

Wilber graduated from Buhler High School. He served in the United States Army in the late 1950s. He retired in 1996 from Eaton after being a machinist for 23 years. Wilber liked to tend to his garden and backyard. He enjoyed spending time with his animals, helping others and hunting. Wilber loved to go to the Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees.

On November 19, 1988, he married Sue Forgay, at the Community Center in Arlington. They shared over 36 years of marriage prior to his death.

Wilber is survived by: his wife, Sue; children, Rick Brawner and Renee Morford, both of Hutchinson, Steve (Jacki) Redd of Wichita, Kenneth Redd of South Hutchinson, Kathaleen Redd of Buhler, Sharon (Lou and Lori Bernardo) Redd of Wichita, Ginger (Tim) Dierkson of Medicine Lodge; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Immesote of Webb City; brothers, Karl Redd of Arkansas and Allen Redd of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

Nathan Alan Kaufman, 48, of rural Hutchinson, died April 25, 2025, at his home. He was born July 31, 1976, in Hutchinson, to Daniel L. and Elizabeth A. (Pratt) Kaufman.

Nate graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1994. He spent many years doing what he loved - driving truck and farming for his uncle in Nebraska. Nate also loved horses, riding, roping, and working cattle for close family friends. He was baptized in, and a faithful member of, The Shepherd’s Chapel in Gravette, AR.

Nate is survived by: his parents; brother, Jason Kaufman (Tami) of Hutchinson; niece, Korie Kaufman of Manhattan; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Per Nate’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Murray D. Reimer, 70, of Hutchinson, died April 23, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after a long health battle. He was born April 8, 1955, in Fowler, to Arnold and Helen (Loewen) Reimer.&nbsp;

Murray attended Tabor College in 1974 and graduated from Friends University in 2000 with a Bachelor’s of Science. He worked for Prairie Land Partners, AGCO Corporation, and Straub International as an agricultural mechanic for 40 years. &nbsp;

In 1979, he married Ama Boese. They shared 46 years of marriage before his death.&nbsp;

Murray was an active member of the First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson. He participated in the church choir and was the sound tech for Sunday morning services. Murray especially enjoyed the pot luck dinners at the church.&nbsp;

Murray followed motor sports avidly whether he went to the drag races or watched NASCAR on television. He could tell you everything about the sport. Murray enjoyed visiting with friends and family albeit in person or on the phone. &nbsp;

Murray is survived by: beloved wife, Ama Reimer of Hutchinson; sons, Drew (Rebekah) Reimer of West Virginia, and Ethan Reimer of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Josephine Reimer of West Virginia; sister, LaVera (Tim) Isaac of Oklahoma; brother, Leon (Ethel) Reimer of Meade; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Memorial service will take place at First Mennonite Church, 52 Rambler Rd. Hutchinson, KS, with dates to be announced.&nbsp;

Veneta Marcella Chapin, 69, of Hutchinson, passed away April 21, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born August 21, 1955, in El Dorado, to Elmer Wagner and Glady’s Mariana (Hublitz) Roland.

Veneta moved to Hutchinson from Medicine Lodge in 1995. She was very passionate about her family and was always willing to help anyone. She loved playing bingo, golf, and hanging out with her family on their land in Medicine Lodge. In addition, Veneta was an avid dog lover and would care for all animals.

On August 11, 1972, she married Willis ‘Bill’ Luke Chapin, in Medicine Lodge. They shared over 52 years of marriage.

Left to cherish her memories are: her husband, Bill Chapin of Hutchinson, KS; son, Stephen Chapin of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Stephanie (Chad) Boone of Greenville, ME; grandchildren, Jadin (Dylan) Boone of Greenville, ME and Devin (Payje) Boone of Moosup, CT; great-grandson, Miles of Greenville, ME; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Veneta Marcella Chapin |1955-2025|

Antonio “Tony” Flores, Jr., lovingly known as “Boss” to his family, employees, and many patrons, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 18, 1938, in Meade, Kansas, to Antonio and Lus (Perez) Flores, Sr.

Tony began his career working for the railroad before serving in the United States Army. After returning to Hutchinson, he held positions at Hartmann Manufacturing and Krause Plow. An entrepreneur at heart, Tony acquired the Anchor Inn on September 10, 1976. Tony continued to pursue many different business ventures including Anchor Away. He had a gift for connecting with people and built lasting friendships with restaurant patrons. Tony was always welcoming and was a familiar face at his restaurant, greeting guests daily.

Tony was an avid businessman and actively served his community as a catalyst for the redevelopment of downtown Hutchinson and in the establishment of antique dealers in the south Hutchinson business area. He was a cofounder of the Cinco De Mayo Charitable Trust, a member of the Community Improvement Commission, served as a member of the Hutchinson Community Foundation, a cofounder of the Old Towne Merchants Association, a past president of the American G I Forum and a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Kansas. Tony was also a recipient of various business awards, including Buena Gente “El Patron” Community Service, Sam Walton Business Leader, the Greater Hutchinson Convention and Visitors Bureau Tourism Award as business of the year and a special recognition at the Kansas State Capital. However, his devotion to his family always came first, and he instilled in them the values of faith, unconditional love, and a strong work ethic.&nbsp;

On April 8, 1961, Tony married the love of his life (secretary), Raquel “Rachel” Ramirez, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where he was a faithful member. Together they dedicated their time, talents, and love to their business, community and family. They also shared many years together traveling and creating lifelong memories.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Rachel; his children: Helen Flores, Carmen Hill (Claude), Angie Raya, Antonio Flores (Audry), Gregory Flores (Letitia), and Esther Acosta (Filiberto), all of Hutchinson; his daughter by heart, Vicki Loyd; and sisters: Jane Amaya (Santos), Dolores “Lola” Flores, Cindy Flores, and Rosie Landron. He is also survived by his brothers: Daniel Flores (Carol), Larry Flores (Connie Johnson), and Gregory Flores, Sr. (Susan); 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous current and past employees, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cruz Marquez, Celsa Flores, and Linda Vieyra; brother, Gary Allen Flores; his beloved grandson, Tanner Anthony Flores; and son-in-law, Gabriel Raya.

A Parish Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson. To accommodate the expected large attendance, the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson. Father Eric M. Weldon will officiate both services. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Tony was always welcoming and was a familiar face at his restaurant, greeting guests daily.Tony was an avid businessman and actively served his community as a catalyst for the redevelopment of downtown Hutchinson and in the establishment of antique dealers in the south Hutchinson business area. He was a cofounder of the Cinco De Mayo Charitable Trust, a member of the Community Improvement Commission, served as a member of the Hutchinson Community Foundation, a cofounder of the Old Towne Merchants Association, a past president of the American G I Forum and a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Kansas. Tony was also a recipient of various business awards, including Buena Gente “El Patron” Community Service, Sam Walton Business Leader, the Greater Hutchinson Convention and Visitors Bureau Tourism Award as business of the year and a special recognition at the Kansas State Capital. However, his devotion to his family always came first, and he instilled in them the values of faith, unconditional love, and a strong work ethic.&nbsp;On April 8, 1961, Tony married the love of his life (secretary), Raquel “Rachel” Ramirez, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where he was a faithful member. Together they dedicated their time, talents, and love to their business, community and family. They also shared many years together traveling and creating lifelong memories.Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Rachel; his children: Helen Flores, Carmen Hill (Claude), Angie Raya, Antonio Flores (Audry), Gregory Flores (Letitia), and Esther Acosta (Filiberto), all of Hutchinson; his daughter by heart, Vicki Loyd; and sisters: Jane Amaya (Santos), Dolores “Lola” Flores, Cindy Flores, and Rosie Landron. He is also survived by his brothers: Daniel Flores (Carol), Larry Flores (Connie Johnson), and Gregory Flores, Sr. (Susan); 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous current and past employees, and extended family.He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cruz Marquez, Celsa Flores, and Linda Vieyra; brother, Gary Allen Flores; his beloved grandson, Tanner Anthony Flores; and son-in-law, Gabriel Raya.A Parish Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson. Mindy Rose Rios, 45, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;Mindy was born on May 16, 1979, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Lisa (Cabral) Strong.

Mindy graduated from McPherson High School in 1998. &nbsp;Mindy had a very big and giving heart. &nbsp;She would remember everyone’s birthday and was always there for everyone regardless of what she was going through. &nbsp;She enjoyed spending time with her family and cats. &nbsp;She could be found outside in the yard helping her mom, doing yard work.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Judy Cabral.

Joseph “Wade” Harper, known to his childhood friends as Wade Hall, passed away on April 15, 2025, at the age of 48. A Salina resident, born in Newton, and longtime Hutchinson native, Wade spent nearly a week at KU Medical Center after chronic heart failure suddenly worsened. Determined not to let his story end under fluorescent lights, he arranged a transfer to St. Luke’s Hospice House for his final day. Surrounded by close friends and family, Wade spent the week sharing stories, laughter, and tears, and, true to form, kept the conversation rolling well into the nights.

Born June 30, 1976, he was the cherished son of Connie Harper, William “Bill” Hall, and his stepdad, Robert “Bobby” Garcia.

Wade worked for Exide Technologies in Salina, working his way up to electrical general foreman. When his children were growing up, he somehow balanced his dedication to work with being a father, almost never missing a Scout camp, gymnastics meet, soccer match, or school play. Eight years ago, he stared cancer in the eye and said, “Not today,” then went right back to clocking six- and seven-day weeks at work. His life was truly wired for others; he was always lending a hand, installing a porch light, or fixing a taillight, and, as a proud member of IBEW Local 661, he measured each sunset not by overtime hours but by how many people he had helped.

Wade is survived by his mother, Connie Garcia of Hutchinson; his children, Gauge Harper (Kensley) of South Hutchinson, Colton Harper (Greta) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Maci Harper of Hutchinson, and Tyler Morelan of Manhattan; his brothers, Willy Hall and Whitney Hall (Tara), both of Emporia, Jason Hall of Hutchinson, and Joe Davis of Salina; his grandchildren, Alaina and Nolan Harper; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who counted him as a brother.

He was preceded in death by William “Bill” Hall and Robert “Bobby” Garcia, his infant son Wyatt Harper, and his uncle Robbie Harper.

Gayland Verne Williams, 82, of Hutchinson, died April 21, 2025, at his home. He was born June 13, 1942, in Hutchinson, to Cecil D. and Lora R. (Howell) Williams.

Gayland attended Hutchinson public schools K-11 and graduated from high school in Hotchkiss, CO, in 1960. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964. Gayland worked as a field engineer for NCR for 24 ½ years and then was the head of the IT department at Hutchinson USD 308 for 10 years before he retired. Gayland enjoyed woodworking, fixing things, and working on vehicles. He was of the Seventh-Day Adventist faith.

On January 1, 1986, Gayland married Karen L. Vokach, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Keith Williams (Jan) of Wichita, Carmela Williams of Frisco, TX, Ivan Williams (Felany) of San Jose, CA; stepdaughter, Deb Chronister (Steve) of Nickerson; grandchildren, Alex Williams, Mitchell Williams, Cameron Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Jaye Johnson, Dylan Williams, Dexter Williams, Kayla Daily (Jake), Steven Chronister II; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Ian, Dawson, Ross; and many extended family members.

Gayland was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Angela Johnson; brother, Duane Williams; and sister, Janet Lofland.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by United States Navy Honor Guard.

Jerri graduated from Lyons High School in 1995 and then Hutchinson Community College and Brown-Macke College earning her Associates Degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. She was a CNA at Good Samaritan Society in Lyons and Hutchinson; an Occupational Therapy Assistant for Dillon Living Center and a waitress for Skaets Steak Shop in Hutchinson. Jerri enjoyed traveling, especially to the Bahamas, was a “foodie”. She loved to try new things. Most of all Jerri enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ruby Elizabeth Stucky Goering, 91, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born on January 21, 1934, in McPherson, the daughter of David R. and Elizabeth Krehbiel Stucky. After graduating from high school, she married Robert M. Goering on August 5, 1952. He passed away on December 8, 2003.

Ruby helped her husband farm for several years. She would bring meals to the field, run parts, and do dr. runs. She also worked at the McPherson Sale Barn, McPherson, Klassen Grocery Store, Buhler, and then worked in the kitchen at Pleasant View Home for 30 years. During all of this, she also found time to do lots of babysitting.

She was a member of Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church, Inman. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and did a lot of journaling. She also enjoyed watching birds.

Survivors include her two sons, Michael R. (Jana) Goering, McPherson and Greg R. (Pam) Goering, Inman; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, a daughter, Sharon K. Mulch; a son, Steven R. Goering; great-grandson, Ryker Scott Goering; and siblings, Martin and Marvin Stucky, and Ellen (Stucky) Voth.

Roxy, is survived by sister's Rhonda Adkins, Vera Daniels &amp; Rita Rippee all of Wichita KS. &amp; brother Jerry Arpin (Carolyn &amp; son Jeffery) of Hutchinson Ks.&amp; numerous cousins, nieces &amp; nephews. 

Roxy was preceded in death by her grandparents Charles Arpin and Lulu&nbsp;&nbsp;Arpin Savior both of Clyde Ks, parents Ronald J. Arpin &amp; Ella (McDowell) Arpin of Belleville Ks. Also preceded in death by brother's Ronald L. Arpin, Belleville Illinois. David Jennings, 58, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 14th, 2025. He was born in Hutchinson, on May 16, 1966, to Theodore (Ted) and Elke Jennings.

David was a loving, caring man who was full of life. He loved his music (the louder the better). He enjoyed going to the lake and being with his friends. He deeply loved his daughters and grandkids. His dogs, Jager and Ludlow, were his fur babies.

David is survived by: daughters, Courtney Henning (Alan) of McPherson and Amber Jennings (Luke Robinson) of Hutchinson; sister, Syna Gustason of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Talyn Nelson, Lukas, Kingston and Kash Zarr, Kamden and Sawyer Henning; five nephews; six great-nephews; and one great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and grandmother, Phebe Jennings

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sharon Lynne Weve, 84, of Haven, Kansas passed away Friday, April 18, 2025 at Pleasant Hills in Hutchinson. She was born on January 15, 1941 in Cunningham, Kansas to Wilbur J. and Marion (Stanton) Spain.

She graduated from Cunningham High School in 1959 and later received her certification for Dietary Manager, working at the Halstead Hospital.

She was a member of the Haven Baptist Church.

Sharon was united in marriage to Robert J. Weve on August 16, 1959. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2007.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Evie) Weve of Haven, and Diana (Mike) Waggoner of Mt. Hope; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Sharon was also preceded in death by her parents; children, Carol Yarboro and Michael Weve; and sisters, Sibyl Abbey, Janice Wesley, and Marion “Diane” Downer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025 at the Haven Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 pm to 7 pm, Tuesday, April 22nd, at the Ott Funeral Home, Haven. Pamela S. Surface, 75, of Hutchinson, died April 18, 2025, at Hospice House. She was born July 27, 1949, in Wichita, to Allen L. and Maxine J. (Burgett) Ward.

Pam graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1967 and from Adela Hale Business College. She worked in human resources at Hutchinson Correctional Facility for several years and then as Assistant Director of Human Resources at Wesley Towers for 17 years before she retired. Pam enjoyed sitting on her patio watching the wildlife in her backyard. She loved animals of all kinds, especially cats and dogs. Pam was a past member of Mid State Street Rods.

On October 7, 1967, she married Marvin W. Surface in Hutchinson. They shared over 57 years of marriage before her passing.

Pam is survived by: her husband, Marvin; son, Tim Surface (Sharon) of Great Bend; and several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Cleta Van Wye and Kathy Huffman.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donnita Lucille Thode Case slipped out of her earthly restraints and leapt into her eternal glory and her Father’s arms on April 11, 2025. &nbsp; Her loss was unexpected, but she was ready to meet the Lord.

Donnita was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Vernamae Case. &nbsp;She is survived by her brother, Lyle Case (Nancy), and her two children, Troy Thode (Colleen) and Michelle Weninger (Greg). &nbsp; She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alisha Dreiling, Casey Zarybnicky (Craig), Josh Dreiling (Christen), Jake Dreiling (Candice), Kaetlin Hermes (Josh), and Noah Weninger. &nbsp;Donnita has 13 great-grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting number 14 due soon.

Donnita lived her best life in her years after retirement, residing in her little farmhouse just up the road from her son. &nbsp;This was Donnita’s heaven on earth. &nbsp;One of her greatest pleasures was going out and watering cattle twice a day, every day, right up to the day she left us. &nbsp;Donnita loved, with her considerable whole heart, her children, and their families. &nbsp;One of her happiest last days was spent batting a balloon around with her youngest great-granddaughter. &nbsp;Donnita was a founding member of Bible Pathways Fellowship, where her love for the Lord was cemented and became the cornerstone for everything in her life. &nbsp;

Donnita will be remembered for many things, but most of all for the way she made people feel. &nbsp;Her smile was quick and contagious, and it brightened many a dark day. &nbsp;Donnita was encouraging and supportive, and she shared her wisdom and her talents freely. &nbsp;She was generous with her time and her money and gave everything she could to a good cause. &nbsp;Donnita’s loss will be felt by many; a testament to the beauty she brought to all of us. &nbsp;More importantly, Donnita’s life will be celebrated in sweet, sweet memories and the parts of her that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives, and until we meet again.

Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Stephen Schaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
