Genise Eileen Werner, 72, passed away on October 2, 2026, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born on April 15, 1954, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Bob and Barbara (Jansen) Blaser.
Genise graduated from Burrton High School in 1972. She continued her education at St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas, with her BSN.
On June 7, 1974, she married Dennis Werner in Mount Hope, Kansas. Genise and Dennis made Hutchinson, Kansas, their home.
Genise pursued a career in nursing and retired from Dillon Living Center. She also spent part of her career teaching the Certified Medication Aide class at Hutchinson Community College.
She is survived by her four children, Jennifer Short (Scott), Christopher Werner, David Werner, and Ashley Werner; sisters, Sandy Janda and LuAnn Wornkey; and 12 grandchildren: Breighanna Steadman, Brittney Steadman, Riley Short, Maycie Rolland, Madelynn Werner, Cooper Werner, Arianna Werner, Kaidyn Werner, Chase Werner, Elijah Werner, Joshua Morales, and Zoey Morales. One Great Grandchild on the way.
Genise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis Werner (1996); her parents; and her sister, Susan Martin.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 West 30th, Hutchinson, KS. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E 12th Ave, Hutchinson, KS.
Her memory will be cherished by her family and all who knew and loved her.
