Richard Dale Ensz, 71, of Windom, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS.&nbsp; He was a farmer and rancher.

He was born August 4, 1953, in McPherson, KS, to Rueben and Margaret (Dyck) Ensz.&nbsp; On April 14, 1974, he was married to Deanna Toews at Inman, KS.&nbsp;

Those left to cherish fond memories are his loving wife, Deanna; four daughters, Lynette (Kevin) Schneider of Windom, KS, Sara (Trenten) Friesen of Inman, KS, Monica (Sherwin) Johnson of Inman, KS, and Colleen (Terry) Schmidt of Hiawatha, KS; three brothers, Galen (Twyla) Ensz of Bonners Ferry, ID, Keith (Linda) Ensz of Inman, KS, and Harlin (Laurie) Ensz of Inman, KS; brother-in-law, Kenneth Koehn of Montezuma, KS; 12 grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rueben &amp; Margaret Ensz, and a sister, Karen Koehn.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Inman, KS.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Zion Church Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 12, at Zion Mennonite Church.

Ellen M. Penner, 90, of Hutchinson, passed away November 8, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born April 10, 1934, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Rolley Lee and Mable Justine (Houghton) Dale.

Ellen graduated from Buhler High School and Hutchinson Community College with a medical transcription degree.&nbsp;

She was the first female police officer in Hutchinson, serving from 1954-1958. In addition, Ellen was the owner of Penner Sewing Service for several years. &nbsp;After graduating college, Ellen worked for Dr. Bos as his transcriptionist. She then had the opportunity to become a representative for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and was based in Winfield. Later in life, Ellen worked for Imperial Vending, Hutchinson.

Ellen was a member of Westside Babtist Church, Hutchinson and serving on the mission’s team.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Carl C. Penner on May 25, 1952, in Hutchinson. Carl passed away from a terminal illness on January 6, 1975.

Surviving are: her sons, Arlan (Brenda) Penner of Hutchinson and Steve (Dawn) Penner of Seagoville, TX; grandchildren, Jaime Cox, Ryan Lee (Charline), Amanda Hewett (Shane), Dustin Penner (Makayla), Jeffrey Penner (Tiffany), Kristen Westbrook (Patrick), Kayla Owen (Caleb), and Sierra Penner (Jay Turner); and great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kelsey, Preston, Brynlee, Luke, Lily, Skylar, Brooklyn, Jordan, Amelia, Olivia, and Amora.&nbsp;

Ellen was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Carl Penner; siblings, Albert, Johnny, Ira, Nellie, and Lena; and daughters, Luann G. Lee of Hutchinson and Elaine J. Anderson of Seattle, WA.

Don R. Young, 88, died November 8, 2024, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born November 28, 1935, in Emporia, to Dale S. and Leona C. (Hamilton) Young.

Don graduated from Westphalia Rural High School in 1953 and from Emporia State University in 1960. Don worked as an insurance agent and underwriter for Metro Life Insurance Company for 20 years, for Kansas Gas Service for 18 years, and did floral delivery for Dillons for 17 years.

Don loved gardening, hunting, attending sports games, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.

On August 29, 1959, he married Elizabeth Ann Harris, in Emporia. She survives.

Other survivors include: his children, Kirk (Katie) Young of Kansas City, KS, Kara (Ron) Winter of Wichita, Kelan (Julie) Young of Hutchinson, and Kyle (Tahnee) Young of Hutchinson; sister, Kay Feuerborn of Overland Park; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Duane; and granddaughter, Addison.

Parish rosary will be 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence St, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors being conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.

Cleyon Yowell was 93 years of age when he died on November 6, 2024. &nbsp;He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Della and Virgil Yowell.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Cleyon graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949 and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with an electrical engineering degree in 1953. &nbsp;Cleyon married Laura Valdois of Haven at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hutchinson in 1951. &nbsp;After graduation from M.I. T., Cleyon returned to Kansas and worked at Boeing in Wichita until he was drafted. &nbsp;After serving in the army two years at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, he moved to Southern California to obtain his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Southern California. &nbsp;He also worked at Hughes Aircraft in Culver City and in Fullerton, California. &nbsp;In 1966 he joined Aerospace Engineering in El Segundo and worked there until his retirement in 1987.

An avid ham radio operator, Cleyon made radio contacts with people in all of the countries in the world except North Korea. &nbsp;He belonged to the following radio clubs: &nbsp;Hughes Aircraft Club, J.P.L. Club, California DX Club, Fullerton Radio Club, and Reno County Kansas Amateur Radio Association. &nbsp;He was also a member of the following professional electrical engineering associations: IEEE and Association of Electronic Warfare.

Cleyon was an enthusiastic traveler starting with a 1,500-mile motor cycle adventure at age 16 with just his 16-year-old cousin. In 1963 Cleyon and Laura went around the world in 80 days on a truly remarkable trip.

Cleyon returned to Kansas in 1987 and moved to Hutchinson in 1988 and joined Trinity United Methodist Church.

&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Della and Virgil Yowell, his sister Marlene Martin and his grandparents Carl and Elva Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Laura Yowell of Hutchinson, his son Robert Yowell (Christie) and granddaughter Addie of San Antonio, TX, and daughter Julie Stade (Mark) and grandchildren Caitlin, Erin and Brendan (Lauren) and great granddaughter Lily of Haven. &nbsp;

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Dave graduated from Brewster High School in Brewster, KS in 1952. &nbsp;He served in the United States Navy for four years as an engineer. On April 22, 1960, he married Florence M. McFadden, in Levant, KS. They shared over 64 years of marriage, prior to his death. Dave worked as a mechanic for 70 years. He owned and operated Dave’s Auto Repair in Inman KS for over 35 years. Dave had a deep and genuine faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Dave was a member of First Congregational Church, Hutchinson, and American Legion Lyle Rishel Post 68. He enjoyed faithfully attending and serving in the church. He also enjoyed helping the family with car issues, keeping his yard immaculately groomed. But most of all, he enjoyed being with mom, hosting family and supporting his grandchildren in all their events and celebrating their birthdays.&nbsp;

David is survived by: wife, Florence Schneider of Hutchinson; children, Mike (Judy) Schneider of Colby, Mitchell (Jane) Schneider of Garden City, Michelle (Kevin) Reimer of Inman, Melissa (Dennis) Bresette of Lee’s Summit, MO, Mamie (Brandon) Coldren of Buhler; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Scott graduated from Lees Summit High School in 1990 and Central Missouri State University in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Project Management. He worked for Dillons as the Division Facilities Engineering Manager and then at Hardwood Millwork and Supply in Burrton, KS. On August 8, 2015, he married Dr. Rogena K. Johnson in Wichita, KS. Scott enjoyed woodworking, golfing, traveling, hiking and was in the process of visiting all the US National Parks with his wife. Scott was a very proud United States Army veteran having served 3 tours overseas during his 12 years of service.

Virginia “Ginny” Lee Brady, 84, died November 4, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1940, in Denver, CO, to Michael Farrell and Rita Anne (Johnson) Heffernan.

Virginia graduated from Marquette Catholic School, Tulsa in 1958, she then attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Virginia worked as a travel agent for First Travel Agency in Hutchinson, and as a bookkeeper for Palco, KS, Inc.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing all kinds of card games, watching sports, especially baseball, traveling and going to casinos. Above all, Virginia loved time spent with her family.

On August 15, 1960 she married Stanley J. Brady in Tulsa. They later divorced. Later on, she shared her life with Tom Weems.

Virginia is survived by: her children, Steve (Sheila) Brady, and Doug (Charlene) Brady; siblings, Kathy (Charlie) Parker, Miggie McKillip, Sharon Wright, and Michael (Candy) Heffernan; grandchildren, Ryan, Luke, Madison, and Jocelyn; and great-grandchildren, Malachi Brady-Teater, Shelbi and Levi Brady and Jaylen Seburn.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Michael and Rita Heffernan; sister, Anne; grandson, Joel; brothers-in-law, Larry, Mike, Todd, and Rob; husband, Stanley Brady; and companion, Tom Weems. &nbsp;

Rosalie “Rose” Forkell, 71, passed away on November 3, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 5, 1953, in La Jara, CO, to Eutimio and Rosella Mercedes (Marquez) Vigil.

Rose was a devoted and loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she took great joy in attending their activities. She was an active member of Countryside Baptist Church in Hutchinson.

On June 30, 1971, Rose married Allen David Forkell, Sr. in Colorado Springs, CO, and together they shared over 53 years of marriage.

Rose is survived by her husband, Allen Forkell, Sr. of Hutchinson; children, Allen (Amy) Forkell, Jr. of DeKalb, IL, and Lisa Marie Forkell of Mississippi; grandchildren, Allie Forkell of Manassas, VA, Peyton Brand and Katie McCullers, both of Hutchinson, Dylan Forkell of Inman, Nick Stanky and Jason Stanky, both of Mississippi; 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dan (Pamela) Vigil of Hutchinson.

Janet Joan Roynon, 85, died November 2, 2024, at Pleasant View Home in Inman. She was born December 3, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Vernon Richard and Sadie Melvena (Glover) Phipps.

Janet graduated from Hutchinson High School. She worked as a silk screen printer at Lowen Corporation, Hutchinson.

She enjoyed quilting and gambling. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.

Janet was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On December of 1978 she married Clarence Carl Roynon, in Windom. He survives. &nbsp;

Other survivors include: her children, Timothy (Rhonda) Crum of McPherson, Lesa (Richard) Ortiz of Plevna, and Laura (Paul Doeden) Shoulders of Minnesota; grandchildren, Rebecca, Stephanie, Joey, Ashley, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Britney.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Wayne Crum.

Mark A. Zumalt, 63, of South Hutchinson, died November 1, 2024, at his residence after a five-year battle with colon cancer. He was born October 27, 1961, in Hutchinson, the son of Kyle and Karen (Howard) Zumalt.

An avid reader, film buff and audiophile, Mark graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Film Studies. He worked at KU as an audio-visual education technician for over 25 years until his retirement. He was passionate about the muscular dystrophy community and spent many summers volunteering as a camp attendant at the Muscular Dystrophy Camp.

Mark loved spending time in nature. He treasured the complexity of mountains and the sea and appreciated the simplicity of the prairie which he called home. A true renaissance man, he had many interests including history, cooking and raising tropical fish. He also enjoyed working with his hands building projects such as a teepee, a Viking tent and many remodeling projects around the home.

Mark is survived by his wife, Marla Herron and daughter, Maleah of the home; mother, Karen of South Hutchinson; sister, Tonja (and husband Mike) Stamm of Kingman; brother, Keith (and wife Betty) Zumalt of Nickerson and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The support of his family was greatly appreciated by Mark, Marla and Maleah especially that of his cousin, Donnie Ratliff who provided almost daily care and companionship over the last few years of Mark’s illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kyle.

Mary Ellen (Yoder) Bontrager, 91, died November 4, 2024, in her home, in Arlington KS. She was born July 29, 1933, in Hutchinson, KS, to Menno Jr and Elizabeth (Nisly) Yoder. Mary Ellen married Eldon E. Bontrager on May 5, 1955.

Mary Ellen was a homemaker and found fulfillment in caring for her family. Her careful attention to detail was seen in all that Mary Ellen did. Her food preparation, gardening, care of animals, but most of all her children, benefitted from her meticulous ways.&nbsp;

Mary Ellen was a strong supporter when daughter, Carolyn, bought the restaurant in Arlington, and rolled out thousands of pie crusts over the next 25 years. All the local granddaughters learned this skill under her careful instruction.&nbsp;

Mary Ellen is survived by: children, Carolyn Bontrager, Arlington, Myron (Ilene) Bontrager, Arlington, Phyllis (Gareth) Yoder, Timpson, TX, and Marilyn (Dan) Korver, Ladysmith, WI; daughter-in-law, Mamie Bontrager, Arlington; 27 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; brothers, Emery (Faye) Yoder, Edwin (Clara) Yoder; sister Clara Mae (Melvin) Nisly; and sisters-in-law, Edna Yoder and Amy Yoder.&nbsp;

Mary Ellen (Yoder) Bontrager |1933-2024|

With hearts overflowing with gratitude and aching with sorrow, we share the story of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather—a man whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and quiet strength. 

He was the anchor in our lives, the steady hand and warm heart who showed us the true meaning of family. We were so incredibly lucky to call him Dad.

From his first day as a father, he embraced the role with all of his heart. His love was boundless, and he gave it unconditionally, raising each of us—Lisa, Kimberly, Douglas, and Debra—with a gentle strength that made us feel safe, valued, and endlessly loved.

He taught us all by example, showing us how to live with kindness, respect, and compassion. And even as he weathered his own hardships, he did so with a quiet&nbsp;resilience that inspired us all.&nbsp;

He filled our lives with love, and as he watched his family grow, his heart only expanded.

He was so proud to be the grandfather to—Payne, Darius, John Allen, Shaquille, Cushan, Jamila, Ashley, Taadi, Janessa, and John Finley—each one a new light in his life – and&nbsp;his great grandchildren – David Brown(Payne), Maijor Allen, Ja’Vani Allen (John Allen) who he absolutely adored.

As a devoted grandfather, he took immense pride in seeing a third generation embrace higher education. He celebrated his granddaughter Taadi Henderson’s achievement as she graduated from San Jose State University this past spring with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Marketing. His heart swelled with joy knowing his legacy&nbsp;continued, with his granddaughter Janessa Henderson on the path to graduate from UC&nbsp;Berkeley in 2026. His love and pride for his family and their accomplishments were a&nbsp;true testament to the values he cherished and instilled.&nbsp;

His final years were spent in Atlanta in the embrace of his daughter Debra, granddaughter Payne, and great-grandson David. Our father was more than just a parent; he was a good friend, uncle, cousin, caregiver,&nbsp;and the most caring of neighbors. To everyone who knew him, he was kindness itself, a man whose soul was gentle and whose heart was big enough to hold us all. His life was an example of everything good, his legacy one of pure love.

He did his job here on earth, and he did it with a grace and devotion that words can hardly capture. He was a parent who gave his whole heart to his family and we are eternally grateful. As we say goodbye, we carry forward his love, his values, and his light, knowing we were blessed beyond measure.

Our father was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Moye, his father Herbert Bailey Henderson, his grandson, Devon Henderson, and his sister LaVeria Johnson.

Rollie Douglas Henderson |1949-2024|

Ronald Rouner Westfall passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 93 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Ron was born on August 3, 1931, in Luray, Kansas, to the late Byron and Avis (Rouner) Westfall.

Ron married his high school sweetheart, Erma Hackerott, on September 25,1951 and enjoyed 71 years of marriage before her death on June 30, 2023. They spent most of their married life in Greensburg, Kansas where they raised their 5 children. &nbsp;Ron and Erma moved to Hutchinson after the devastating F5 tornado in 2007.

Much of Ron’s life was dedicated to his career as a feed specialist, working with Moorman’s Feed, Farmland Industries, and later as an independent contractor to farm cooperatives.

Ron had a passion for canning and generously shared his bounty with family and at church functions. When canning season was over, he enjoyed making candy for family gatherings, a treat everyone looked forward to.

Ron was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he and Erma participated in various church activities. They often provided soup and candy for church suppers and participated in the Streets of Bethlehem Pageant.

He is survived by his children, Roger Westfall (Patricia), Ann Veenstra (Dan), Randy Westfall (Joyclyn), Rhonda Steele (Jim), and Robin West-Conard (Steve); grandchildren, Danette Peralta, Denise Case, Mary Tanner, Katelyn Marlow, Paul Westfall, Morgan Steele, Cooper Steele, Michelle Shultz, Jenny Frazier, and Logan West; 18 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his sisters: Lois Carlson, Willa Wickham, and Treva Henry; and his beloved wife, Erma.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2024, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, Hutchinson. Private family burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park at a later date. Leroy John Stockemer, 89, of Garden Plain, died October 31, 2024, at his residence. He was born July 31, 1935, near Colwich, to Aloysius J. and Bernetta F. (Orth) Stockemer.

Leroy graduated from Andale High School. Electronics were his passion and Leroy could repair anything electronic. He owned Leroy’s Electronics for a few years before going to work for the Federal Aviation Administration as an electronics technician. Leroy’s career with the FAA spanned 40+ years, quickly rising to supervisory and management status. Throughout his career Leroy received numerous letters of recognition, commendations, and service awards. &nbsp;In 1982, he received national recognition as the FAA’s Suggester of the Year for improvements to its radar systems that were responsible for saving many lives. Leroy enjoyed owning and flying his own single engine airplane. Leroy served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1953-1962, was past president of Hutchinson Airport Board, and a member of Church of the Holy Cross.

On June 2, 1956, he married Mary A. Rau, in Colwich. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage before her death on December 27, 2015.

Leroy is survived by: his children; Monica Rupp of Cedar Park, TX, Mike Stockemer (Carmelita) of Garden Plain, Jennifer Smith (Kurt) of Hutchinson, Dale Stockemer (Stacey) of Park City, Ronnie Stockemer (Carolyn) of Mansfield, TX, Vanessa Bertucci and Valerie Rosproy both of Wichita; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Dennis Stockemer (Joan) of Wichita, Don Stockemer of St. Marks; and many extended family members.

Skylar Jo Southards, 41, died October 29, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. &nbsp;He was born September 6, 1983, in Hutchinson, to Frederick Joseph and Crystal Ann (McGillivray) Southards. &nbsp;

Skylar attended Buhler High School, graduated from Hutchinson Community College, and attended technical school to become an electrician. &nbsp;He was currently working for Hedlund Electric, in McPherson. &nbsp;Skylar was creative and thoughtful, always giving the perfect gift when someone was least expecting it. &nbsp;He also enjoyed fishing and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas State University. &nbsp;Skylar loved the outdoors and tending to his goats, dogs, “fluffy feet” chickens, cats, miniature pony, pigs and guineas, to name just a few of his numerous farm animals. &nbsp;As much as he loved being outdoors and with his pets, nothing was more important to Skylar than quality family time spent together at family gatherings.&nbsp;

Skylar is survived by: &nbsp;his mother, Crystal Hill (Brad) of Emporia; his father, Fred Southards (Laura) of Hutchinson; siblings, Heather Kessler (Mitchell Meyer) of Hutchinson, Harrison Hill (Colleen) of Alaska, and Shelby Hill of Colorado; nephews, Carter McNett and Layton Kessler; grandmother, Kathleen McGillivray of Hutchinson; his former wife, Brooke Southards of Hutchinson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Skylar Jo Southards |1983-2024|

Patsy Lee Mewhinney Tarr, also known as “Dear”, Mom, Aunt Pat, Patty, and, for over 51 years, OMA, died in her home, wearing pink, with family near on October 30, 2024. She was born April 14, 1931, in Iola, Kansas, to Samual Monroe and Mildred Leota (Wheeler) Mewhinney.

As a child during the depression era, Patsy learned to live with little means, to laugh and love fully, and to know God in a personal way through her grandmother. Her family moved to Wichita when she was in 8th grade, and she spotted a good-looking boy- telling a friend that she was going to marry that one! Patsy graduated in 1949 from Planeview High School, and married that same fella, John B. Tarr, a year later, on April 29, 1950.

Patsy was first of all a mom, to Debi, Dickie Van, who died in 1953, Brenda, Penny, and John. Some things we remember about those early years- Debi remembers that she got in trouble at school (ok, more than once) and walked the few blocks home to find Mom waiting to be told “the truth” because she already knew. Roaming the neighborhood was encouraged, after all she could always “trill” us home, and the threat of a switch to our legs made us hurry to get there.

With 3 girls, Mom stretched the budget by making most of our clothes, identical for all when possible, including herself! Which led to Brenda and Penny getting to wear the same style of dress for years as each one was passed down! Penny thought John was&nbsp;lucky- new clothes all along! Another budget stretcher was her drafted gardeners- nieces, nephews, and friends were encouraged to dig weeds around the sod plugs in the new yard along with her kids. 25 cents for a 5 gallon bucket- after inspection and her stomping it down! If you drive by 715 Edgemoore in Mulvane, you will see the results of all that work!

She always had a “side hustle” to help make ends meet, such as helping Dad work a paper route, riding a bike as a messenger at Boeing because she was too petite to work as a riveter, tinting black and white photos for a photography studio, working at a family owned IGA grocery in various capacities, baking cakes and cinnamon rolls to sell out of her home, running a daycare, working at Hutch High in food service (where John said&nbsp;she worked to keep an eye on him), working at HCC in the Continuing Education department, and selling clothing in a boutique in Arkansas.

As we got older, our house became the gathering spot for us and our friends. Mom always had snacks, cinnamon rolls, pop, and a welcome for the gang. She became involved in our activities at school and at church, providing food, costumes, decorations, and transportation as needed. Friends in Mulvane and in Hutchinson remember her hospitality, her laugh, her sweet ways. As we had families of our own, Mom encouraged us to make our house the gathering spot for our own kids.

Patsy became Oma in 1973, when her first grandchild was born in Germany. Of course, that meant she and Dad had to make a trip overseas to see him, beginning the path of welcoming 14 grandchildren&nbsp;personally. The grandkids remember Oma teaching them to bake, reading books, singing on the porch swings, watching them in their sports and activities, playing games, having popcorn and movies in her big bed between her and Opa, sleeping on the floor beside her so she could reach out her hand to touch them in the night (and vice versa). As greats came along, she continued her loving interactions, playing games, and creating crafts up to even a few weeks ago.

A move to Bella Vista Arkansas in1994 fulfilled a dream of golfing every chance they got and becoming involved in a strong church, joining friends already there. Patsy was involved there as an elder’s wife, heading up several ministries such as an encouraging card ministry, mentoring young girls, mentoring young married couples (a continuation of their involvement with Marriage Encounter), and various other activities.

Patsy was a member of the Church of Christ, most recently at Windom Church of Christ, and serving in Sewing For the Master at Eastwood Church of Christ.

Patsy is survived by: daughters, Deborah Herndon (Rex) of Arkansas City, Brenda Graham (Kenny) of Hutchinson, and Penny Pearlman of Coral Springs, FL; son, John Tarr (Kelley) of Brooklet, GA, 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, John B. Tarr; son, Dickie Van Tarr; a granddaughter, Holly Jo Hadley; a great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Ehret; a brother, Richard Mewhinney, and a sister, JoAnn Ware.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Elliott Chapel, with son-in-law, Kenny Graham officiating.&nbsp;The service will be livestreamed and the stream will begin at 9:45 a.m. the day of the service.

 </figure>Patsy Lee Mewhinney Tarr, also known as “Dear”, Mom, Aunt Pat, Patty, and, for over 51 years, OMA, died in her home, wearing pink, with family near on October 30, 2024. She was born April 14, 1931, in Iola, Kansas, to Samual Monroe and Mildred Leota (Wheeler) Mewhinney.As a child during the depression era, Patsy learned to live with little means, to laugh and love fully, and to know God in a personal way through her grandmother. Her family moved to Wichita when she was in 8th grade, and she spotted a good-looking boy- telling a friend that she was going to marry that one! Patsy graduated in 1949 from Planeview High School, and married that same fella, John B. Tarr, a year later, on April 29, 1950.Patsy was first of all a mom, to Debi, Dickie Van, who died in 1953, Brenda, Penny, and John. Some things we remember about those early years- Debi remembers that she got in trouble at school (ok, more than once) and walked the few blocks home to find Mom waiting to be told “the truth” because she already knew. Roaming the neighborhood was encouraged, after all she could always “trill” us home, and the threat of a switch to our legs made us hurry to get there.With 3 girls, Mom stretched the budget by making most of our clothes, identical for all when possible, including herself! Which led to Brenda and Penny getting to wear the same style of dress for years as each one was passed down! Penny thought John was&nbsp;lucky- new clothes all along! Another budget stretcher was her drafted gardeners- nieces, nephews, and friends were encouraged to dig weeds around the sod plugs in the new yard along with her kids. 25 cents for a 5 gallon bucket- after inspection and her stomping it down! If you drive by 715 Edgemoore in Mulvane, you will see the results of all that work!She always had a “side hustle” to help make ends meet, such as helping Dad work a paper route, riding a bike as a messenger at Boeing because she was too petite to work as a riveter, tinting black and white photos for a photography studio, working at a family owned IGA grocery in various capacities, baking cakes and cinnamon rolls to sell out of her home, running a daycare, working at Hutch High in food service (where John said&nbsp;she worked to keep an eye on him), working at HCC in the Continuing Education department, and selling clothing in a boutique in Arkansas.As we got older, our house became the gathering spot for us and our friends. Mom always had snacks, cinnamon rolls, pop, and a welcome for the gang. She became involved in our activities at school and at church, providing food, costumes, decorations, and transportation as needed. Friends in Mulvane and in Hutchinson remember her hospitality, her laugh, her sweet ways. As we had families of our own, Mom encouraged us to make our house the gathering spot for our own kids.Patsy became Oma in 1973, when her first grandchild was born in Germany. Of course, that meant she and Dad had to make a trip overseas to see him, beginning the path of welcoming 14 grandchildren&nbsp;personally. The grandkids remember Oma teaching them to bake, reading books, singing on the porch swings, watching them in their sports and activities, playing games, having popcorn and movies in her big bed between her and Opa, sleeping on the floor beside her so she could reach out her hand to touch them in the night (and vice versa). As greats came along, she continued her loving interactions, playing games, and creating crafts up to even a few weeks ago.A move to Bella Vista Arkansas in1994 fulfilled a dream of golfing every chance they got and becoming involved in a strong church, joining friends already there. Patsy was involved there as an elder’s wife, heading up several ministries such as an encouraging card ministry, mentoring young girls, mentoring young married couples (a continuation of their involvement with Marriage Encounter), and various other activities.Patsy was a member of the Church of Christ, most recently at Windom Church of Christ, and serving in Sewing For the Master at Eastwood Church of Christ.Patsy is survived by: daughters, Deborah Herndon (Rex) of Arkansas City, Brenda Graham (Kenny) of Hutchinson, and Penny Pearlman of Coral Springs, FL; son, John Tarr (Kelley) of Brooklet, GA, 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, John B. James Isaac Marshall Jr., 59, passed from this life into the arms of his Savior on October 31, 2024. He was born on January 20, 1965, in Hutchinson, KS to James Isacc Marshall Sr. and Elsie Mae (Tauber) Marshall.

On April 18, 1987, he married Brenda Doughty in Hutchinson. Together they had two children, Curtis and Nishelle. Jimmy was an amazing husband and wonderful father and always put his family first.

Jimmy was employed at J &amp; J Drainage for 34 years and 5 years at Superior Boiler. He loved his family, his church family and his work family. Jimmy was always helping somebody work on a vehicle or a house project. He enjoyed riding his Harley with his family and friends and made sure everyone had a Toy Run button each November. Jimmy was a faithful member of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle for 38 years.&nbsp;

Jimmy is survived by: his wife, Brenda Marshall; son, Curtis J. Marshall, both of Hutchinson; daughter, Nishelle (Spencer) Tomlinson of Wichita; step-grandson, Jackson; siblings, Joyce Siebuhr, Richard (Dee) Marshall, Jackie Pina, Esther Bennett, Francis (Cindy) Marshall, Russell (Tyra) Marshall, all of Hutchinson; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Bill Marshall and Timothy Marshall; and sisters Vivian Helzer and Pam Hoag.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in Fairlawn Burial Bark, 2401 Carey Blvd, Hutchinson, with Pastor Nathan Karriker officiating. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary. Timothy Ray “Tim” Ayres, 72, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 15, 1952, in Kingman, to Raymond N. and Cecilia Dorothy (Gillen) Ayres.

Although Tim attended Hutchinson Community College and two technical schools, he ultimately followed his passion for agriculture and became a dedicated farmer.

On August 23, 1975, he Married Dorcee Anne Hollinger, in South Hutchinson. Tim will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 49 years. She survives.

Other survivors include: his brothers, Terry Ayres of Nickerson, KS, Gary (Melanie) Ayres of Seward, NE; sister, Marla (Donnie) Miller of Hutchinson, KS; four nieces; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Raymond N. Ayres and Cecilia Dorothy (Gillen) Ayres.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Elliott Chapel. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Mandy Lynn Buckwalter, 43, of Wichita, died October 28, 2024, as the result of a car accident. &nbsp;She was born September 5, 1981, in Hutchinson, to David Wayne and Gale Lynn (Smith) Buckwalter.

Mandy graduated from Buhler High School in 2000, attended Hutchinson Community College, and graduated from Kansas University with a major in anthropology and minor in psychology. &nbsp;For over three years, Mandy worked with autistic children at Heartspring, in Wichita, as a home assistant supervisor in their therapeutic school. &nbsp;She was adventurous, independent, humble, and beautiful, both inside and out. &nbsp;In her short 43 years, Mandy lived life to its fullest as a world traveler, visiting various countries, many times for pleasure, but also to teach students how to speak English, which she did in both China and South Korea. &nbsp;In addition, Mandy traveled to numerous places of interest throughout the United States. As a life-long learner, before traveling or embarking on a new job or adventure, Mandy would read multiple books and articles, to be sure she knew as much as she could about her next endeavor. &nbsp;Mandy was a gifted listener, but when she spoke everyone listened as she was a book of knowledge. &nbsp;Mandy left an imprint on everyone she met, and will be missed immensely. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Mandy is survived by: &nbsp;her mother, Gale Buckwalter (Alan Janzen); father, David Buckwalter (Kelly); brothers, Brandon Buckwalter, Bryan Buckwalter, Christian Buckwalter, all of Hutchinson, Clancy Janzen (Jacque) of Salina, and Jeremy Janzen of Newton; sisters, Angela Arnold (Jason) of Hutchinson, Helena Klassen (Mitch) of Inman and Hope Mitchell of Hutchinson; grandmothers, Beverly Smith of Hutchinson and Beverly Willems of Newton; nieces, Madison and Mackenzie Buckwalter of Hutchinson; her cousin, Jody Redinger (who was more like a sister) of Hutchinson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her paternal grandparents, Allan and Betty Buckwalter; grandfather, Fay Smith; and uncle, Troy Smith.
