Rebecca West, 65, of Hutchinson, died September 23, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 24, 1959, in Hutchinson, to John and Antonia (Vieyra) Martinez. 

Rebecca worked as a bag maker at Hubco Inc. for 31 years. She enjoyed her labor tremendously and operated at every work station possible during her time there. Rebecca was well known for baking the best homemade pumpkin pie, apple pie, and her delicious cookies. She enjoyed music such as R&B, Soul, and the Blues, with Elton John being her favorite. Rebecca carried a strength much greater than her size and was truly the epitome of “dynamite in a small package.”

On April 8, 1978, she married Ronald West in Hutchinson. They shared 27 years of marriage before his death on February 6, 2006.

Rebecca is survived by: children, Travis (Angie) West of Lawrence and Hope West of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Donavon McNeely of Lawrence, Rylan West, ReyJon Redenbaugh, and Patrick Redenbaugh, all of Hutchinson, Solar West, and Julian West of Lawrence; siblings, Linda (Daniel) Garcia, John (Shannon) Martinez, and Anna Martinez, all of Hutchinson, and Timothy (Tammy) Martinez of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Martinez; and sister, Elizabeth Juarez. 

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 612 S Maple St, South Hutchinson, with Father Eric Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2025, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary Chapel.
