Leland Dale Wedel, 93, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Schowalter Villa.&nbsp; He was born November 3, 1928 in McPherson, the son of Philip A. and Rose (Stucky) Wedel.

He graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1946.&nbsp; Leland later graduated from Bethel College in Newton, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Leland was united in marriage to Alda Marjorie Schmidt on August 11, 1948 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel.&nbsp; She survives of the home after 73 years of marriage.

Leland taught music in schools for 11 years.&nbsp; He later worked for St. Pauls Companies as an auditor and regional superintendent.

He is survived by his wife, Alda Wedel of Hesston; daughters, Janet (Verne) Voth of Hesston, and Catherine (Steve) Wikstrom of Forest Lake, Minnesota; sister, Lois (Dean) Regehr of rural Inman; sister-in-law, Laura Friesen of North Newton; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Rose Wedel; sisters, Ellen (Wilmer) Friesen and Ruth (Orlando) Schmidt; and nephews, Dale Friesen and Jim Schmidt.

Private graveside services will be held at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery, Goessel.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held at LifeChange Church, 10225 E Kellogg Dr. Wichita, immediately following their Sunday service on May 1, 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Selbert Len “Lennie” Young, 55, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 1, 1967 in El Dorado to Selbert Lee and Mary Anna (Hutson) Young. They later divorced and his mother married Eugene Watkins who raised Lennie. Lennie worked as a stone mason. He enjoyed motorcycles, derby cars, and attending music festivals. She was born on June 28, 1929 in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Emmit Lee and Gracie Lee (Nelson) Evans. Billie graduated Hobert High School, Hobart Oklahoma in 1947. She worked for Elkview Hospital in Horbart, Ok as a cook. She was a member of The Pratt Baptist Church and the ladies guild. She loved to Watch T.V. and was an excellent cook. Billie was a very good seamstress and made a lot of her girls school clothes. Ellen Marguerite Lehman Klover, age 88, died April 14, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital with her family by her side.&nbsp; Ellen Klover was born August 12, 1933 in Halstead, the daughter of Floyd and Ada McFarlane Lehman.&nbsp; She graduated from Halstead High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology and Education from Kansas State University.&nbsp; She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta social sorority and Alpha Delta Theta med tech organization.

Ellen was certified as a Medical Technologist from the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City.&nbsp; She taught 5th&nbsp;grade in Alta Vista, worked in retail sales and worked as a medical technologist at Student Health at K-State, Manhattan, and at Creighton Pathology Associates in Omaha, Nebraska.

She married Bernard Klover on August 11, 1956 at the Presbyterian Church in Halstead, Kansas and he survives of the home. They shared over 65 years of marriage.&nbsp; She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Newton.

She enjoyed bird watching, square dancing, tole painting, playing the piano, researching family genealogy, in addition to women’s bible study, active seniors, and sewing club at the church.&nbsp; She was a member of the German American Society, Red Hat Society, and on the Board of the Halstead Historical Society.&nbsp; She loved being a mother and grandmother – her kids and grandson were her true enjoyment.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Bernie; daughter Jana Atchison; son John (Ginger) and one grandson, Tyler Atchison.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m.at the Zion Lutheran Church, in Newton, on Wednesday, April 20 with The Reverend Kurt Letcher officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery, Marysville, at 3:00 p.m. April 20, 2022.&nbsp; Memorials may be made to Halstead Historical Society and Zion Lutheran Church.

Dwight Scofield, 89, died January 8, 2022. Dwight was born January 13 1932, Manhattan. He died at the Newtown Presbyterian Manor, where he had lived, since 2008.

Dwight grew up on the farm near Manhattan, with his parents, Franklin and Olivia (Romig) Scofield and 5 older brothers. He enjoyed playing football in school and working on cars. He and a brother opened and ran several gas stations in his early years. He married Barbara Nelson in 1954, soon after they married Dwight spent two years in the Army 1955 to 1957. He and Barbara returned to Kansas after his draft period was served and lived in Clay Center. Where Dwight continued in the service station and repair business. During this time Dwight and Barbara struggled with the loss of several miscarriages and where able to adopt twin boys in 1961. In 1965 the family moved to Newton KS and continued in the service station business there. Dwight became a fix it kind of man where he could repair not only vehicles but many home repairs also. He later worked for the Wichita school systems ordering parts for building maintenance which he retired from, after 22 years.

Dwight was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Newton, since 1965. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, collecting, he had many collection interests. He always had a ready smile and an open heart to listen and counsel with others. In his later years he loved to watch and was a big fan of all K State sports. One of his go to sayings when you talked with Dwight was “and what have you” almost as if it was one word.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Olivia Scofield, his wife Barbara (Nelson) Scofield, daughter, Marlyin Sue Scofield, all 5 of his older brothers, Frank Scofield, Burton Scofield, Earl Scofield, Edwin Scofield, and Bruce Scofield.

Dwight is survived by his sons, Tim Scofield and Tony (Faye) Scofield, 4 grandchildren, Tim Scofield II, Adrianne Unruh, Jessica Scofield and Craig Scofield and 3 great grandchildren Jarett, Malorie and Cole.

A memorial service to bury his ashes will be held at the grave site in Clay Center, Greenwood Cemetery on April 30th at 11:00 am.

Kenneth “Kenny” Eugene Talbott, 84, passed away on Good Friday, April 15, 2022, at his home in Marquette with his family by his side. He was born to LaMonte and Emma (Grooms) Talbott on March 18, 1938. He was a lifetime resident of Marquette. He graduated from Marquette High School and Barber Business School in Wichita.&nbsp;

He was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette Chamber of Commerce and part time volunteer fireman for the Marquette Fire Department.&nbsp;

He married Freda J. Malm on September 7, 1957, at Elim Lutheran Church. He followed his grandfather, Mahlon Grooms, uncle, Dewey Grooms, and mother, Emma Talbott, in the barbering profession. &nbsp;He was proud to be a third-generation barber. Grooms Barbershop started in 1888. &nbsp;Kenny started his barbering career in 1960. &nbsp;He was owner/operator of the barbershop until he retired in 2013. &nbsp;Kenny enjoyed being with his family and friends, gardening, fishing, and watching sports events.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Freda; daughter, Darla Nochowicz (Larry) of St. Augustine, FL; son, Darryl Talbott (Diane) of Marquette; grandchildren, Lindsay Nochowicz (Adam Dandis) of Littleton, CO; Lawren Terry (James) of Atlanta, GA; MaryAnne McDonnell (Kevin) of Littleton, CO; and Evan Talbott (Andrea) of Washington, DC; and great-grandchild, Sawyer May McDonnell of Littleton, CO.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Orton Talbott, and grandson, Kenneth Darryl Talbott.

Kathryn Laura (Holecek) Hill, 78, of McPherson, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022 at The Cedars Health Care Center. Kathy was born in McPherson, on February 17, 1944, the daughter of Leona (Kleiber) and F. Wayne Holecek. She attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from McPherson High School in 1962. She graduated from Kansas State University, concentrating on elementary education. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McPherson. After graduating, Kathy worked at raising her family and supporting Bill’s career as they moved from Illinois, to Nebraska, then Iowa, and finally Florida. Kathy began her teaching career in Florida and continued it after relocating in 1979 to Dodge City, Kansas, to be closer to family. Kathy taught special education for 25 years in Dodge City before retiring in 2004 to her hometown, McPherson. She taught a few more years in McPherson before transitioning to a paraprofessional educator role at McPherson Middle School. Kathy enjoyed K-State athletics, especially K-State football. She loved spending time with her family, socializing and traveling with friends new and old. Kathy and Bill enjoyed their social life and always enjoyed a party with friends of whom they had many. They had their childhood friends, condo friends, Dodge City friends, Florida friends, K-State friends, work friends, yoga friends, and many more. Kathy was small in stature, but her voice, smile and laugh are remembered by everyone! Kathryn Laura Holecek was united in marriage to William Harve Hill, Jr. on January 15, 1965, in McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first house together in Manhattan, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Jeff and Andy. Kathy was proceeded in death by her parents Wayne and Leona Holecek and her husband, Bill; She is survived by her children Jeff Hill and wife Nanette, of Tecumseh, Kansas; and Andy Hill and his wife Megan, of Louisburg, Kansas; her brother John Holecek, of McPherson, Kansas, sister-in-law Sara Bremyer and her husband Jay, of McPherson, Kansas, brother-in-laws Bob Hill of McPherson, Kansas, David Hill and his wife Lisa, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Kathryn Laura (Holecek) Hill  |1944-2022| 

Kenneth “Kenny” Malone, 76, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away April 16, 2022, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. He was born June 25, 1945, in Great Bend, the son of Raphael Leo “R.L.” and Helen Marie Saudinger Malone. 

Kenny was lifetime Lyons resident. He graduated from Chase High School, Chase with the class of 1964. Kenny was a longtime farmer. He served in the United States Army from September 24, 1964 until his honorable discharge on March 23, 1965. Kenny was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chase; past treasurer for the Center Township for thirty years; and was past commander of the VFW Post #129. Kenny enjoyed collecting John Deere memorabilia. 

On March 20, 1982, Kenny was united in marriage with Judy K. Dye in Ost. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his two sisters; and brother-in-law, David Dye of Meade. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents; and sister. 

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 21, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. The suggest everyone wear casual clothing. Burial will follow at Lyons Municipal Cemetery with military honors by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. A Parish rosary will be said at 10:00 A.M. at the church prior to the funeral mass.&nbsp;

Judith K. Markel (Bolinger), 83, of Pretty Prairie, passed away April 15, 2022 after a two year battle with stage four pancreatic cancer.

Judy was born Jan. 8, 1939, to Herbert and Julia Bolinger in Wichita. An only child, she was their pride and joy.&nbsp; Judy attended schools in Wichita and after graduating as a West High Pioneer in 1955, she worked with her best friend, Barb Love, at Yingling Aircraft.&nbsp; Later, while working at Master Machine Tools in Hutchinson, she met her husband, Ed.

On May 14, 1976, Judy married Edward Markel at Pretty Prairie where they raised their four children and have lived for almost fifty years.

Judy, a lover of music, spent much of her life singing and leading music.&nbsp; She was a former member of the Wichita Sweet Adelines.&nbsp; She lead the Pretty Prairie Methodist Church choir for over thirty years and she sang in the Reno County Choral Society.

Judy like to play the piano, accordion and harp.&nbsp; She enjoyed spending time with her family, enjoying games, food, laughter and being surrounded by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her favorite dogs and cats.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Julia Bolinger.&nbsp; She is survived by her loving husband Edward Markel; children Connie Vogt, Liz Shepherd, Daryl (Lynette) Markel of Pretty Prairie, and Aimee (Mike) Jones of Yoder; grandchildren Travis (Juli) Vogt, Justin (Rita) Vogt, Kacie (Brady) Herman, Connor (Cass) Owen, Hunter (Wren) Owen, Tony (Julie) Markel, Andrea (Cody) Hastings, Zac Mitchell, Stefanie Markel, Jimmy (Tina) Mitchell, Raven (TJ) Lane, Josh Jones, Tanner (Makayla) Jones and 21 great-grandchildren.

Wilma J. Wilson, 89, died April 14, 2022 in Wichita.

She was born March 26, 1933, at St. Leo, the daughter of Edwin and Esther Schulte Wegerer.

A longtime resident of the Kingman community, she was retired from the Safeway and Food-4-Less grocery stores.

Wilma was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Kingman.

On May 8, 1951, she married William A. Henning at St. Leo; he died Nov. 2, 1981.&nbsp; On aug. 25, 1983, she married Merle L. Wilson; he died May 12, 1999.&nbsp; Survivors include her children Dee and Larry McMillian, Patti Eck, Jo and Bill Sleffel, and Dennis and Sherri Henning; brother Frank Wegerer and his wife Kay; and sister-in-law Virleen Wegerer; grandchildren Ryan, Clarke, Kyle, Jay, Darrrin, Ethan, Alex, and Jared; great-grandchildren Peyton, Nate, Sophia, Ellery, Brant, Gavin, Hugo, Fitz and Maverick.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Peters and brother Bob Wegerer; son-in-law Clink Eck; and infant daughter Mary.

Elnora Ruth Unruh, 87, of Hutchinson, died April 12, 2022, at her home. She was born September 19, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Jacob and Leta (Smith) Scheuermann.

Elnora attended Hutchinson High School and later earned her nursing degree from Wichita State University. She worked for many years as a nurse for Home Healthcare and Reno County Health Department. Elnora enjoyed quilting, ceramics, and making jewelry. She also loved to go fishing with her grandsons and they traveled to many different locations to fish together. Elnora was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On April 13, 1952, she married Kenneth G. Unruh, in Hutchinson. They shared 55 years together before he passed away on February 7, 2008.

Elnora is survived by: sons, Ken Unruh, Hutchinson, Dan Unruh, Lansing; daughters, Pam Nelson (John), Sue Crystal-Unruh, both of Hutchinson; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Kenneth Unruh; son, David Unruh; four brothers; and two sisters.

Memorial service will be 10 am Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastors Quintin Nuttmann and Henry Blickhahn officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Hutchinson – Mary Roland, 71, passed away April 7, 2022 peacefully in her sleep. She was born August 24, 1950 in Troy, KS, the daughter of Louis and Ruth (Dhone) Roland.

Mary had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed knitting, playing the guitar and horses. She loved painting and drawing. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her son, Robin Roland; three sisters, Shirley Brucks, Susanne Swanson and Lorie Story.

Delores “Lou” Yarbrough, 85, passed away April 15, 2022, at the Hutchinson Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 7, 1936, in Missouri, the daughter of W.L. Green, Sr. and Vivian Simpson Borecky. She was a graduate of Burdette High School. A homemaker, she was a member of the Elks Club, the Moose Lodge, and the American Legion.

She married Jack Yarbrough and he later passed away.

Lou enjoyed writing poems, country music, singing, and entertaining others.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Reggie (Rae) Green, Darren (April) Green, Denise (Keith) Green, Mark (Amy) Borecky, Derrick (Sarah) Borecky, Amy (Jason) Nulf, and Richard (Kristy) Blakelee; and several great nieces and nephews.

Marilyn Jean Love Watkins, age 82, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away on April 13, 2022. She was born June 16, 1939, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Charles Porter Mallam and Earline Louise Nelson. Marilyn was adopted by Lester and Helen (Russom) Love, of Partridge, on September 1, 1939.

Marilyn graduated from Partridge High School, attended Hutchinson Community College, and graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Grace Hospital, The Medical Center, and Hutchinson Hospital for 45 years, retiring in July 2005.

Survivors include: sons, Douglas Buck and David Buck and wife Jami of Wichita; two granddaughters, Katelyn Williams (Zach) of Olathe and Kristin Pinango Buck (Luis Miguel) of Wichita; one great-grandson, Theo Williams; a birth brother, Gene Kern; birth sisters, Anita Kern Staley, Judy Mallam Smith, Mary Mallam Netherton, Ruth Mallam, and Kathy Mallam Fleck.

She was preceded in death by: her birth and adopted parents; birth brother, Dick Mallam; and birth sister, Nancy Gress.

She was born January 28, 1927, in rural Greenwood County, Kansas, the daughter of James and Mamie (Shobe) French. She married Dale Forcum on August 28, 1949. They later divorced. She had lived in Manhattan, KS for 18 years, serving as a fraternity housemother at Kansas State University. She spent summers working at the Rocky Mountain National Park tourist center in the Indian Jewelry store. She made many close friends during these years and enjoyed interacting with co-workers and tourists. She has lived in Hutchinson since approximately 2000 where she attended The Father’s House, serving in volunteer capacities and participating in bible study. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Christian Women’s Group.

Survivors include her children, Tony (Debbie) Forcum, Plano, TX; Sherri Watson, Wichita, KS; Dee Blackwood, Sunnyvale, TX; Annie (Quintin) Moore, Hutchinson; and sister-in-law, Lois French, Eureka, KS; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Murray, Dean, and Wesley French, Aileen Lawson and Mary Ellen Sowder; and great grandson, Porter Moore.

Lincolnville - James Edward Green was born in Oak Hill, Kansas on March 13, 1941 to Adelia Hanson and John William Green. He passed away at home on April 14, 2022. He was in the navy. He was a welder at Hillsboro Industries for many years where he went to work for Hess and Son Salvage afterwards. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ernest Green, and John H. Green, along with his first wife Inez Hope Green. He is survived by his wife Linda Green of Lincolnville. Daughters, Kathy and Steve Zimmerman of Sedan, Kansas, Shelly and Sam Tied of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Eva Morel of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Roberta Reffitt of Arkansas City, Kansas. His many grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, Many nieces and nephews. He was a welder at Hillsboro Industries for many years where he went to work for Hess and Son Salvage afterwards. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He is proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ernest Green, and John H. Green, along with his first wife Inez Hope Green. He is survived by his wife Linda Green of Lincolnville. Daughters, Kathy and Steve Zimmerman of Sedan, Kansas, Shelly and Sam Tied of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Eva Morel of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Roberta Reffitt of Arkansas City, Kansas. His many grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, Many nieces and nephews. Shirley B. (Huckins) Krause, long-time resident of Peabody, and loving wife of William (Bill) Verne Krause, died April 13, 2022 in Newton. She was 95 years old. Shirley was born at the family homestead between Belleville, and Chester, Nebraska, the youngest of five children. As a child, she was inspired by Shirley Temple, who was two years her junior. Like Temple, she loved to sing, dance, and act. She was in starring roles in her school productions and was known to have a special talent for tap dancing. She was very popular in the one-room schoolhouse she attended as a young girl.

Shirley was introduced to Bill Krause on a blind date just after Bill had returned from serving in World War II. Eventually, she succumbed to his charms and they were married on August 11, 1946. They remained happily married for sixty-five years until Bill’s death did they part in 2011. Shirley helped support Bill while he attended Kansas State University, pursuing a degree in journalism. After graduation, the young couple worked in the newspaper business, buying their first local newspaper in Konawa, OK, in 1952, and then purchasing the Peabody Gazette-Herald in 1954. During the 43 years of operating the Peabody newspaper, they also acquired five other small-town newspapers and had shares in two others. Eventually, through sales and consolidations they reduced their holdings to the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin, which they sold in 1997 due to Bill’s failing health.

Shirley and Bill were a complementary team in all their endeavors and they could dance with the best of them – doing the Jitterbug, Charleston, you name it. Shirley was the loving mother of two daughters, providing the family with a happy home and a solid upbringing. She was an avid bridge player and a very active Peabody socialite. She was a good, kind, thoughtful, generous, beautiful person, inside and out, and ever so fashionable. Remarkably elegant and refined, she excelled in social graces and had exceptional style. She made the world a better place for all who knew her.

Susan (Sue) K McDonald, 60, of McPherson and formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2022. Sue was a lifelong educator, most recently Professor Emeritus at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas.

Sue was born on March 9, 1962, in Berkeley, California, the daughter of Clarence E. and Lois (Kay) McDonald.&nbsp; She graduated from Fargo North High School in 1980.&nbsp; She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University in 1983, her Master of Science degree in Geology from Indiana State University in 1990 and Doctor of Philosophy in Physics at Indiana University in 1994.&nbsp; On May 10, 1987, Sue was united in marriage to Dale Griffith in Penton, Michigan.&nbsp; They were married 34 years before Dale’s passing on February 5, 2022.

Sue and Dale’s marriage began in Kansas City and Washington DC, working as Mechanical Engineers for Babcock and Wilcox until Sue’s return to school to complete her master’s and doctoral studies.&nbsp; Sue and Dale lived in Terre Haute, Indiana and Sioux City, Iowa while Sue completed her degrees, following which she began her academic career at Morningside University.&nbsp; Sue and Dale then moved to Kansas to accept her professorship position at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, where she retired Emeritus in 2012.&nbsp; Throughout the years, she shared her love of Earth Science as an instructor at the yearly summer field camp experience at Indiana University’s Judson Mead Geologic Field Station in Cardwell, Montana. &nbsp;A residential facility was named in her honor at the Field Station in 2021.&nbsp; Dr. McDonald loved working with her students and positively impacted the lives of many along the way.

Sue and Dale built a home outside of Lindsborg, and later in Marquette.&nbsp; During their time in Lindsborg, Dale and Sue participated in the Bike Across Kansas ride together, starting at the Colorado Border and ending in Kansas City eight days later.&nbsp; Sue began running marathons with her good friend Julia.&nbsp; They completed 4 half and 4 full marathons together including events in Abilene, Wichita, and Fargo, ND where Sue christened the team’s name “Not Fast, Not Last.”

Sue and Dale found Community in Marquette.&nbsp; They found their fur-baby, Lucy, in the streets of Marquette and gave her a home.&nbsp; Sue became a member of the Marquette United Methodist Church where she served as church Treasurer and provided Science enrichment activities for the children on Wednesday nights.&nbsp; She was known to students in the area as “Science Sue.” She could often be found at the Motorcycle Museum in Marquette, giving tours, assisting with rallies, and chatting with visitors and friends in the community.&nbsp;

Sue was diagnosed with stage IV Stomach Cancer in December 2012.&nbsp; In spring 2013, following initial treatments, she was flown by Angel Flight to MD Anderson, where her care team completed surgery to remove her stomach.&nbsp; She endured chemotherapy, radiation, and a host of other ongoing medical procedures throughout the years but continued to fight with optimism and a smile on her face.&nbsp; She met life-long friends throughout this journey.

Sue moved to McPherson in 2020 and adopted another fur-baby.&nbsp; She rescued her dog Pumpkin and gave her a forever home.&nbsp; Sue and Pumpkin made many new friends in her neighborhood at Veranda Place.&nbsp; Sue enjoyed going for walks, playing cards, reading, painting, attending concerts and hanging out with friends and cousins, Michele and Kelli.&nbsp; She also developed a friendship with a group that she called “Her Sista’s” Veletta, Cathy and Donna.

Dr. McDonald was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lois, and her husband, Dale.

Scott Paul Neufeld, 40, formerly of McPherson, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at his home in Grove, OK.&nbsp; He died following complications of a recent surgery.

Scott was born on&nbsp; January 19, 1982, in Newton, son of Paul Stanley Neufeld and Rhonda Kay (Epp) Neufeld.&nbsp; He attended Hillsboro and McPherson High Schools.

His vocations consisted of factory worker, skilled laborer, and construction worker.&nbsp; He struggled with health issues and addictions throughout his life.&nbsp; He dearly loved his only daughter, Kristin Neufeld, even from a distance.

Scott joined God’s family at an early age.&nbsp; He enjoyed his early childhood life on the family dairy farm in northeast Marion County.

Scott married Jennifer Noriega November 6, 2004.&nbsp; Kristin Holly Neufeld was born to them on April 27, 2007.

Scott is now in the presence of his Lord, completely healed from his illnesses, addictions, and struggles.

He is survived by: his parents, Stan &amp; Carla Neufeld of McPherson, and Rhonda Liles of Grove, OK; three sisters, Laura (Dustin) Hendricks of Canton; Amy (Josh) White of McPherson; and Megan (Roby) Levika of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Daniel Word of Wichita; former spouse, Jennifer Musinski and daughter, Kristin Neufeld, of Junction City; nephews, Cohen Hendricks, Cade Hendricks and Otto White; nieces, Harper White and Mia Levika; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Billie was born in Prescott, Arkansas on August 30, 1932, a daughter of Ruby Mae (Goad) and Haze Beavert. Billie attended the Prescott grade schools and graduated from Prescott High School, Prescott, Arkansas in 1950. Billie Mack Beavert was united in marriage to Billy Jack Sandidge on December 23, 1950 at Gurdon, Arkansas. On October 5, 1951 the young couple moved to McPherson where they would make their home. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, one son and one daughter, Randy and Tracy. She was a member of First Baptist Church McPherson, where she served as Sunday School teacher, worked with the youth program, White Cross, and the funeral committee and was a faithful member of the Y.E.S. Sunday School class. Billie was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She started working at Dillion's Grocery Store as a clerk and later for Western Auto also as a clerk. Billie worked for 21 years for U.S.D. 418 School Lunch Program serving lunch at the McPherson Junior High and later at the High School. Billie loved her grandchildren, Christmas, flower gardening and working in her yard. She also enjoyed watching the Royals Baseball Team, playing Bingo, Dominos, and playing cards with her friends. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Viola and her husband Jeff, of McPherson; her brother, Jimmie Beavert, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; her two grandchildren, Ryan Viola and wife Shannon and Morgan Williams and husband Mike; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Williams, Tyler Williams, and Mason Viola; nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Billie Mack Sandidge  |1932-2022| 

Michael John “Mike” Townsend, 75, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away April 13, 2022, at Newton Medical Center, Newton. He was born April 29, 1946, in Wichita, the son of Wilbur J. and Elfea Schattak Townsend. 

He graduated from Wichita East High School, Wichita, with the class of 1964 and attended Wichita State University before proudly serving in the United States Airforce. After returning from the service, Mike graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, Colorado. Mike served in the United States Airforce from November 23, 1966 until November 22, 1972 during the Vietnam War. He was a banker for forty-two years, having served as president of several banks in Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. Mike served on the Kansas Banker’s Association Board of Directors and served on various governing boards at various churches. Mike was very active in civic governments and served on the Lyons School Board USD 405. He was also a charter member of the Newton Jaycee’s. Mike enjoyed hunting with his dogs, fishing, woodworking, working in his yard, and flying radio-controlled airplanes. 

On June 2, 1985, Mike was united in marriage with Lynne Townsend in Lyons. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Aaron Townsend and fiancé Julie ; six daughters, Debra Diel and husband Ron, Kenneta Zwick, Kendra Liska and husband David, Jayna Morgan and husband Joe, Jill Erickson and husband Scott, and Judy Otto and husband Jeff; two sisters, Carolyn Rutherford and husband Bill, and Madolyn Shields and husband Dr. Bill; twenty-four grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Mike is preceded in death by his parents.

 Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 18, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons with Pastor Lara MacGregor and Keith Shank officiating. Michael John “Mike” Townsend, 75, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away April 13, 2022, at Newton Medical Center, Newton. He was born April 29, 1946, in Wichita, the son of Wilbur J. and Elfea Schattak Townsend. He graduated from Wichita East High School, Wichita, with the class of 1964 and attended Wichita State University before proudly serving in the United States Airforce. After returning from the service, Mike graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, Colorado. Mike served in the United States Airforce from November 23, 1966 until November 22, 1972 during the Vietnam War. He was a banker for forty-two years, having served as president of several banks in Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. Mike served on the Kansas Banker’s Association Board of Directors and served on various governing boards at various churches. Mike was very active in civic governments and served on the Lyons School Board USD 405. He was also a charter member of the Newton Jaycee’s. Mike enjoyed hunting with his dogs, fishing, woodworking, working in his yard, and flying radio-controlled airplanes. On June 2, 1985, Mike was united in marriage with Lynne Townsend in Lyons. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Aaron Townsend and fiancé Julie ; six daughters, Debra Diel and husband Ron, Kenneta Zwick, Kendra Liska and husband David, Jayna Morgan and husband Joe, Jill Erickson and husband Scott, and Judy Otto and husband Jeff; two sisters, Carolyn Rutherford and husband Bill, and Madolyn Shields and husband Dr. Bill; twenty-four grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Mike is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 18, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons with Pastor Lara MacGregor and Keith Shank officiating. Linda Diane George, 71, of Hutchinson, died April 11, 2022, at Hutchinson Health &amp; Rehab. She was born July 27, 1950, in New York City, NY, to George and Rose (Unger) Sabin.

Linda graduated from high school in Elkhart, IN. She worked as a purchasing agent for Collins Industries for many years before retiring. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed floral arranging and watching crime dramas. Linda attended CrossPoint Church.

On August 13, 1983, she married Richard W. George, in Hutchinson. He survives.

Also surviving are: children, Stephanie Cressler (Al) of Arlington; Kevin George (fiancé, Sunshine Chapman) of Nickerson; grandchildren, Brittany, Ashely, Kaela, Zach; great-grandson, Bryden; and sister, Susan VanMeter of Elkhart, IN; numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Burner.

Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional
Medical Center, after a long, hard battle with cancer.&nbsp; She was born June 10, 1983 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Donald Franklin, Sr. and Loretta Lynn Alexander.

Trisha attended Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; She became a homemaker and the primary
caregiver to her beloved grandparents.&nbsp;
She has three beautiful children whom love and will miss her dearly;
Lamaj Williams, Nathan Williams III and Nataya Williams.&nbsp; Trisha loved anything and everything oriental
or Japanese related and she had the kindest soul.

Trisha is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal
grandparents, Pat and Buddy Alexander, and Willie and Ruby Franklin; a brother,
Marcus Alexander; and a nephew, Braden Alexander.

She is survived by her parents, Donald and Loretta; three
children, Lamaj, Nathan III, and Nataya; her significant other, Charles Scott,
who she spent her last days with; six brothers and sisters, Donald Franklin
Jr., Antoine Alexander, William Alexander, Natasha Alexander, Myesha Franklin,
and Tara Thomas; one aunt, Ruthie Sarwacinski; and numerous nieces, nephews and
a great niece.

There will be no visitation as cremation was

Raymond L. “Ray” Everson died February 26, 2022 at Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born October 19, 1924 near Mankato, the son of J. Gillis and Ella A. Everson.

Ray graduated from Mankato High School in 1942. He was inducted into the army in January 1943, served in the 7th&nbsp;Infantry Division in the Philippines, Okinawa, and with occupation troops in Korea.&nbsp;&nbsp; Ray earned the Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, two Bronze Stars, Silver Star, Purple Heart, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Philippine Liberation Medal, plus other lesser medals and awards.&nbsp;&nbsp; After being discharged in January 1946, he attended Kansas State University, graduating in 1950 as an architect. Ray served as Extension Architect at Kansas State until moving to Hutchinson in 1953 to work with the English, Miller &amp; Hockett architectural firm. He later worked as Manager of the Dillon Stores architectural department.

Ray belonged to First Presbyterian Church, served one term as a deacon and four terms as an elder. He was a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club and served as its President for a one-year term. Ray served on the boards of New Beginnings, and Hospice of Reno County. He was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.

On September 3, 1948 he married Mary E. McIlvain in Clay Center, Kansas. They shared 65 years of marriage, before her death.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Brinez and husband Luis of Hutchinson; Janet Buchner and husband Ed of Anaheim Hills, California; their children Kay Dutz and husband Steve of Fullerton, California; Mark Buchner and wife Jenna of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mary Han and husband Chris of Madison, Wisconsin; brother Garry of Salina; and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents, Gillis and Ella; his four brothers Merrill and wife Margaret, Lester, Glen and wife Francis, and Jerald.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Christine Kass officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.&nbsp; Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp; The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday, April 16, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church.
