Leland Dale Wedel, 93, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Schowalter Villa. He was born November 3, 1928 in McPherson, the son of Philip A. and Rose (Stucky) Wedel.
He graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1946. Leland later graduated from Bethel College in Newton, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Leland was united in marriage to Alda Marjorie Schmidt on August 11, 1948 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel. She survives of the home after 73 years of marriage.
Leland taught music in schools for 11 years. He later worked for St. Pauls Companies as an auditor and regional superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Alda Wedel of Hesston; daughters, Janet (Verne) Voth of Hesston, and Catherine (Steve) Wikstrom of Forest Lake, Minnesota; sister, Lois (Dean) Regehr of rural Inman; sister-in-law, Laura Friesen of North Newton; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Rose Wedel; sisters, Ellen (Wilmer) Friesen and Ruth (Orlando) Schmidt; and nephews, Dale Friesen and Jim Schmidt.
Private graveside services will be held at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery, Goessel. A memorial service will be held at LifeChange Church, 10225 E Kellogg Dr. Wichita, immediately following their Sunday service on May 1, 2022.
