John E. Gray, 78, died February 26, 2022 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center at Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita after a brief illness.&nbsp; He was born December 3, 1943 in Eureka, to J. Evert and Velva (Todd) Gray.

John grew up in Newton, with his parents and older sisters, Sharon and Pat.&nbsp; He clearly recalled his childhood memories into late adulthood and enjoyed speaking about these good times.&nbsp; John laughed about how much attention and care his father gave to his bird dogs that he used for hunting, but how they were never allowed in the house, something his mother would have never allowed anyway.&nbsp; John also talked fondly of memories playing with his cousins, Gary, Mel, and Ron, at least one or more of whom apparently talked John into riding a bull at one point.

John lived with his father and mother until his father passed when John was a young adult.&nbsp; He continued to live with his mother who often assigned him tasks, such as doing the dishes, getting the mail, and walking around the block with her.&nbsp; John could be heard saying, “I am going, I am going” when his mother became impatient with him not performing duties on her timeline.&nbsp; Despite this, often at times hilarious, banter, John never said a harsh word.

After John’s mother’s passing, John moved in and lived with his sister, Sharon, and brother-in-law, Tom for many years.&nbsp; There, he was surrounded in the den with every VHS tape and DVD that could be acquired, either by purchasing it or bootleg copying it if necessary.&nbsp; John loved movies and he could tell you if any of them were out of place or missing, although he was happy to loan them to anyone.&nbsp; It is here that his sisters introduced him to the lottery, something he joked would have horrified their mother.&nbsp; John loved receiving lottery tickets from his sister, Pat, in PA. and had his sister, Sharon, purchasing them for him on a weekly basis.&nbsp; It was also from this home, he was drug to every great niece and nephew’s program possible, something he always insisted he enjoyed.&nbsp; Probably more than anything, John loved family gatherings.&nbsp; He talked for weeks in advance about when his niece, Amy, and her family were coming out for a visit and most everything positive anyone ever did or that ever occurred, he attributed to his nephew-in-law, Bob.&nbsp; John adored Bob. The feeling was mutual.

Upon his brother-in-law’s passing (over ten years ago) and his sister, Sharon’s, passing (four years ago), John moved into Ascension Via Christi Village at Broadmoor, an Assisted Living facility.&nbsp; While many questioned how a regimented man like John would fare with such a big change, he acclimated wonderfully.&nbsp; Here, he received wonderful care and made many friends.&nbsp; John’s only complaint was that the roast was not as tender as what his sister, Sharon, used to make and they served too many sandwiches.&nbsp; While John liked most foods, especially Mexican food, he HATED sandwiches.&nbsp; And here, like anywhere, whatever he ate, he always stopped when he was full.&nbsp; John continued to love routine at his new place .&nbsp; He had one nonalcoholic beer every Monday (with his beef jerky) and was certain to let his nieces, Amy and Jennifer, know when his Keurig coffee pods dropped below 50 and therefore, evidenced vacant holes in his display containers.

One of the most intriguing things about John was his incredible memory and ability to retain and recall facts.&nbsp; He was interested in all things geographical, historical, &amp; related to heritage.&nbsp; John learned more from TV than most of us can probably recall from all of our time in high school. &nbsp;If anyone wanted to know something, we would call John into the room.&nbsp; He could tell you the year Myles Standish came over on the Mayflower and the name of Myles’ wife.&nbsp; John was happy to explain to anyone about the Texas Rangers and how Arizona’s Rangers are no longer the same as they were years ago.

Probably most noteworthy, John loved animals, refusing to pick a favorite &amp; insisting until the end of time that the leopard at the zoo only wanted to befriend the boy who crawled over the fence.&nbsp; Much like he refused to say that he favored his niece, Jennifer, over his other niece, Amy, he insisted he liked both cats &amp; dogs equally.&nbsp; John had the best disposition of anyone we have ever met. He was never heard speaking an ill word about anyone and he looked past grievances.&nbsp; Many of us learned a lot from John and will miss him terribly.

As John came to the end of life, Harry Hynes Hospice was again there for our family.&nbsp; We would like to acknowledge their staff for their exceptional care and concern.

John is survived by his nieces:&nbsp; Amy (Bob) Schell, Jennifer Reid. and Suzanne Rickabaugh; nephews: &nbsp;Keith (Erin) Rickabaugh and Michael (Kit) Rickabaugh; and many great nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, J. Evert and Velva (Todd) Gray, sister, Sharon Reid and her husband, Tom, and sister, Patricia Rickabaugh and her husband James, as well as his niece, Kathy (Tony) Blanset.&nbsp; John would note that he was preceded in death also by former pets:&nbsp; Garth, Lexi, Sam, Ringo, and Caymus.

The family will be present to greet friends on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 12 noon – 1:45 p at Petersen Funeral Home.&nbsp; A procession to Greenwood Cemetery will follow for the graveside committal service with Pastor Donna Voteau presiding.&nbsp; Family and friends will gather after the burial at the Breadbasket for fellowship.

Jerry “Allen” Crow, 70, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away February 25, 2022, at McPherson Hospital. He was born February 19, 1952, in Wheeler, Texas, the son of Donald Gene and Geraldine Risner Crow. 

Allen has resided in McPherson for the past six years, formerly of Holyrood. He graduated from Higgins High School, Higgins, Texas, with the class of 1970, and received his bachelor’s degree in biology at West Texas State University in 1975. Allen graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in addiction counseling, and a master’s degree in addiction counseling in 2020 from Washburn University. He worked at a natural gas complex near Bushton, for over 20 years, and was a substance abuse counselor for the past three years at Mirror in Hutchinson, retiring in December of 2021. 

Allen was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Holyrood and served on the Holyrood Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting vinyl albums, was an avid reader, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

On June 1, 1974, Allen was united in marriage with Karen J. Meller in Higgins, Texas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Justin Crow and wife Kimberley of Melbourne, Australia, and their children, Lachlan and Benjamin; daughter, Allison Herrman and husband Eric of Manhattan, and their children, Silas Lydia and Faith; brother, Calvin Crow and wife Bobby of Bushton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Allen is preceded in death by his parents. 

A Graveside service will be at 1:30 P.M., Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, with Pastor Debby Rains officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present.&nbsp;

Patricia Ann (Cox) Lee, 79, passed away February 19, 2022, at Sterling Village, Sterling, KS.&nbsp; She was born February 26, 1942, in Neosho, MO, to Jess and Genoa (Payton) Cox.

Patricia was a graduate of Neosho High School, Neosho, MO.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and the owner of P. Lee’s Antiques and Memories, Pawnee Rock, KS.

On November 11, 1961, she married O. Wayne Lee.&nbsp; They shared over 42 years of marriage, prior to his death on January 16, 2004.

Patricia is survived by:&nbsp; her daughter, Christina Long and husband Kevin; grandson, Kyle Long and wife Camaro; and great-granddaughter, Prudence Jo Long, all residing in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Patricia was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; husband; son, Bradley Wayne Lee; granddaughter, Candace Patrice Long; twin sisters, Bonnie Linder and Connie Linder; and brother, Jessie Cox.

Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.

Patricia Ann (Cox) Lee |1942-2022|

Patricia Kathlene Johnson of Hutchinson, Kansas, was born on August 24th, 1958. She grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas where she lived most of her life. She passed away peacefully at Hospice House of Reno County on Saturday, February 26th, 2022.

After graduating at 16 years old from Hutchinson High School, Patricia then enlisted in the United States Navy. She went through boot camp in beautiful Florida, before being stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. It was in Norfolk that, after being discharged from the Navy, she became a mom. Years later Patricia made her way back to her hometown of Hutchinson, where she met her husband.

Patricia adored birds of all kinds and kitty cats, and passed on her love for animals to her children. She was a fun loving woman and in her younger years would dance the night away with her husband. When her children were still young she would do all sorts of silly things to make them laugh.

Patricia was preceded in death by: her mother, Ruth Ina Ayres Williams, and her father, Gary Hoag.

She is survived by: her husband of nearly 32 years, Loren Johnson of Hutchinson, Kansas, daughters, Laurel Litton of South Hutchinson, Kansas, Audra Sisler and Julie Johnson, both of Hutchinson, Kansas, sons, Marcus George of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Aaron George of Texas, sister Cynthia Robertson and husband Richard of San Diego, California, four beautiful granddaughters, Taylor and Isabella Sisler, and Kaylee and Zowie Litton, aunt Gaylene (Hoag) Brazeal, aunt Mary Adah Ziegler of Overland Park, Kansas, uncle John Forbes and wife Sandy, and many other extended family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at Inman Funeral Home, Inman, Kansas. J.D. Hager, Jr., age 84, passed away with his daughter by his side on Feb. 24, 2022 at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham, KS.  

He was born on Aug. 18, 1937 at St. John, KS., the son of J.D. and Mary (Delker) Hager, Sr.  A life-long resident of St. John, he was a 1955 graduate of St. John High School and graduated from Pratt Community Junior College in 1961.   He had a 58-year successful career in banking, working through all the positions from teller to bank president held 1974-1984 and elected chairman of the board in January 2003 to present.  He received his 50-year banking award and was a member of the Kansas Bankers Association. J.D. served on numerous boards to include, Stafford County Country Club, 20-years as Stafford County Commissioner, Quivira Scenic By-Ways planning board, was instrumental in getting the Stafford County Annex built and the Stafford County Solid Waste department established.  

On Feb. 17, 1956, he married Kay (Maddox) of Red Oak, IA, to this union came a daughter, Julie (Steve) Hash, Grand Junction, CO; a son, James D. “Jim” Hager, Wichita, KS.; on Nov. 23, 1994, he married Rose Marie (Fuqua) of St. John, KS., thus expanding his family adding Marie’s daughter, Julie Good, Tyler, TX., and a son, Douglas (Evette) W. Fox, Ponchatoula, LA.; two sisters, Dorothy Jordan, Nevada, MO and Donna (Joe) Heter, Branson, MO.; grandchildren, Ryan and Travis Hash, Mindy Willis, five blended grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnny L. Hager and C. William “Bill” Hager.  

Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 from 1-7PM with family present from 5-7PM.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS., with burial to follow in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS. J.D. Hager, Jr. |1937-2021|

Steven Wayne Owens, 57, of Hutchinson, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 25, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 4, 1964, in Albuquerque, NM, to William L. and Peggy D. (Alexander) Owens.

Steve graduated from Lyons High School in 1982 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He worked as a truck driver for Groendyke and JACAM for many years. Steve loved watching and playing sports of all kinds and was a diehard OU Sooners fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve was of the Christian faith and had a strong relationship with Jesus.

On May 26, 1984, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra D. Simms, in Lyons. She survives.

Steven Wayne Owens, 57, of Hutchinson, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 25, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 4, 1964, in Albuquerque, NM, to William L. and Peggy D. (Alexander) Owens.Steve graduated from Lyons High School in 1982 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He worked as a truck driver for Groendyke and JACAM for many years. Steve loved watching and playing sports of all kinds and was a diehard OU Sooners fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve was of the Christian faith and had a strong relationship with Jesus.On May 26, 1984, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra D. Simms, in Lyons. Howard was a life-long farmer.&nbsp; He was a member of Meridian Church of God in Christ Mennonite.

Howard was united in marriage to Shirley Joan Wiggers on September 4, 1964, at Hesston.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

He is also survived by his daughter, Sharon Giesel (Tony) of rural Hesston; sons, Galen Jantz (Becky) and Carl Jantz (Marsha) all of rural Moundridge; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Keith Jantz (Pam), Kansas City, Missouri; sisters, June Jantz, Clarksdale, Mississippi, Winona Koehn (Russel), Montezuma, KS, Janet Jost, Brooksville, MS; and sisters-in-law, Elnora Jantz, Stover, MO, Marge Jantz, Scio, Oregon and Delores Holdeman, Sumner, Texas.

Milton Buford “Bud” Moore, Jr., 77, of Medicine Lodge, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Kansas Medical Center, Andover. He was born on May 22, 1944 in Derby, the son of Milton Buford Moore, Sr., of Derby, and the late Mary (Wooley) Moore. On September 4, 1976, he married Diana (Bailey) Moore. She survives. Bud was passionate about four things; faith, family, education, and adventure. He spent four years in the United States Navy followed up with college at Wichita State University where he played and then later coached football. After graduation, he taught and coached football in Rose Hill. In 1984, he became the Principal at Medicine Lodge High School and served in that role for 18 years. He then began a career in Special Education with the South Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative until his retirement in 2013. Even after retirement he served on the Medicine Lodge School Board until his passing. Bud never met a stranger. While he enjoyed many rounds of golf, his absolute favorite past-time later in life was spending time with his grandchildren, Collin and Mason. Surviving in addition to his wife, Diana Moore of Medicine Lodge, KS are his father, Milton (Eugenia) Moore, Sr. of Derby; two sons, Nick (Tiffany) Moore of Andover, and Matt Moore and fiancée Aimee of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Collin and Mason Moore; two sisters, Colleen Irvin of Hico, TX and Beckie (Mike) Hall of Austin, TX. Lee Pownell, 73, passed away peacefully – surrounded by family and toe tappin’ to Johnny Cash – on February 24, 2022, in Newton. Lee was born the first (and rowdiest) of three boys to Milton and Mary Pownell on August 10, 1948, at Halstead Hospital in Halstead. Lee attended Halstead High School in Halstead, but, like any good rebel, he made sure to get kicked out. (Luckily for his family, although he never did learn to ask for permission, he eventually learned to ask for forgiveness.) Lee went on to obtain an Associate of Science degree from Hutchinson Junior College in Hutchinson, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Wichita State University in Wichita.

Lee was a true-blue country boy who was blessed with a genius-level IQ and a stubborn but tenacious spirit. Lee enjoyed Kansas fall weather, the Kansas Jayhawks, the mountains in the West, chopping firewood, building or repairing anything, big red barns, wildlife (especially wolves), classic country music, Westerns, and – especially – his own (many) garages. Lee looked forward to the Kansas autumn auction season every year, and, even if he bought a little too much, it was always astonishingly organized in the incredible double-decker garage that he designed himself.

Notwithstanding his enjoyment of the outdoors, as a young man, Lee had the vision to see that computers were the future. Using his ability to teach himself anything, Lee became an early computer programmer in the 1980s; his computer-programming career spanned for decades, and he worked at both Farmland Industries in Hutchinson, KS, and his alma mater, Wichita State University. Lee also taught himself auto mechanics, much to the dismay of his daughters (as there was never an excuse to buy a new car).

Lee had the good fortune to meet the beautiful Barbara – his wife of more than 50 years – while draggin’ Main Street in Newton in the 1960s. Lee spotted Barbara in the moonlight, hard at work sweeping the lot at A&amp;W Drive In, and he took a chance and asked her for a date. She agreed to one date, but Lee knew he had to double down (and he also knew there was no way he could show up to take Otto’s daughter out on a date on a motorcycle), and so he made sure to buy a brand-new Oldsmobile the next day. Lee and Barbara were blessed with two spunky daughters, Jessy and Katie, who traveled the world but would always take the dirt roads back home to see his newest additions to the garagestead.

Lee is survived by wife Barbara Dalke Pownell, of Newton; daughter Jessica Leigh (Camilo), of Tampa, FL; daughter Katherine Michelle (Kartheek), of San Francisco, CA; brother David (Helene), of Manhattan, KS; sister-in-law Pamela (Victor) Garcia, of Newton; and sister-in-law Ruth Jacob of Halstead.

Lee was preceded in death by father Milton Pownell, mother Mary Clupny Pownell, brother John Pownell, father- and mother-in-law Otto Dalke and Wilma Welty Dalke, and brother-in-law Michael Dalke.

Markley Harold “Mark” Zwink, age 68, passed away on January 25, 2022, in Boulder, CO.&nbsp; Born on May 9, 1953, at Newton, he was the son of Robert A. and Vivian M. (Barsell) Zwink.

Mark graduated from Macksville High School in 1971 and later joined the US Navy.&nbsp; After completing his military service, he moved to Larned, which would be his home for the rest of his life.&nbsp; Mark attended Barton County Community College.&nbsp; He was a member of the First Christian Church of Larned.

Mark held a number of jobs in Larned.&nbsp; He worked at KANS Radio as a broadcaster and in other capacities.&nbsp; There, on occasion, he greatly enjoyed serving as sportscaster for local and area high school games.&nbsp; He later was employed by The Tiller and Toiler newspaper, where his duties included writing the column Zwink or Zwim, which often included Mark’s unique perspective on local events and personalities.&nbsp; He then worked on the custodial staff for the Fort Larned School District, making many lifelong friendships with fellow school employees and students.&nbsp; At the time of his death, he was a part-time employee at the Larned Community Center, helping with activities and events and assisting regulars and visitors young and old.&nbsp;

Mark was an avid sports fan, enthusiastically following his favorite teams and athletes whether they were at the professional levels or in the youth leagues. He was a genuine people person.&nbsp; His easy smile, wry wit, sense of humor, and colorful, engaging personality will be missed by many.&nbsp;

Mark was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by brothers David Zwink, Mississauga, ON, Canada; Timothy (Ann) Zwink, Piedmont, OK;&nbsp; Joel (Patti) Zwink, Pacific City, OR; and Jonathan (Janice) Zwink, Topeka, KS; and sister Debra (George) Susoeff, Mapleton, OR; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his many, many friends in the Larned community.

On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, Nova Ann Frick Bowman, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 86. Nova was born in Hollis, Oklahoma June 5th, 1935, to Odell (Hays) and Earl Smith. 

She graduated from Garden City High School in 1953. She received her Associates Degree from Frank Phillips Community College. Received Degrees from West Texas State University, now West Texas A&amp;M, BA in 1969 and MS in Education, 1974. Nova taught in Borger, Texas for 12 years, Great Bend and Ellinwood, for 20 years. She was proceeded in death by her late husband, Ronald Frick 1973. She later married Jack Bowman in 1980. Nova was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Ellinwood, and member of the National Society Magna Charta Dames, DAR in Borger, First Families of the Twin Territories of OK, Daughter of the Republic of Texas, and Tennessee, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Calhoun County Michigan Genealogical Society. Nova enjoyed teaching all of her students as she specialized in reading. She loved hunting, fishing, and sports with Jack. She spent a lot of time on the road supporting Jack’s athletic coaching teams. She loved to crochet and sew and staying up-to-date in technology. She loved spending time cooking enchiladas for her family. 

She is survived by her husband, Jack of the home; Her children Mark (Gail) Frick of Amarillo, TX, Debra Knight, Jim (Stephanie) Frick and Michael Frick all of Borger TX. Jack’s children, Lonnie (Janet) Bowman of Basehor, Jackie (Bill) Cook and Teresa (Rob) Long both of Great Bend, and Jill Bowman of Ellinwood. Her surviving brother, Earl Lavern (Fae) Smith of Borger, TX. She is also special to her 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She was proceded in death by her parents.

Nova was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Ellinwood, and member of the National Society Magna Charta Dames, DAR in Borger, First Families of the Twin Territories of OK, Daughter of the Republic of Texas, and Tennessee, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Calhoun County Michigan Genealogical Society. Nova enjoyed teaching all of her students as she specialized in reading. She loved hunting, fishing, and sports with Jack. She spent a lot of time on the road supporting Jack’s athletic coaching teams. She loved to crochet and sew and staying up-to-date in technology. She loved spending time cooking enchiladas for her family. She is survived by her husband, Jack of the home; Her children Mark (Gail) Frick of Amarillo, TX, Debra Knight, Jim (Stephanie) Frick and Michael Frick all of Borger TX. Jack’s children, Lonnie (Janet) Bowman of Basehor, Jackie (Bill) Cook and Teresa (Rob) Long both of Great Bend, and Jill Bowman of Ellinwood. Her surviving brother, Earl Lavern (Fae) Smith of Borger, TX. She is also special to her 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She was proceded in death by her parents. The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 28, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, KS.&nbsp;

Dan’s life began on December 12, 1958, in Marion. He was the son of Ronald “Bunk” and Kathleen (Taylor) Ludwig. 

He was a 1976 graduate of Marion High School where he played defensive end on the football team. Dan went on to Butler County Community College and started on the football team at Butler as a defensive end. Dan was the owner of Ludwig Truck Lines in Florence continuing a 100-year-old tradition of trucking in the family. 

He was united in marriage to the former Cathy Douglas Jantzen on July 21, 2018, at the Christian Church of Florence. Dan served his community as a board member for the Florence Community Foundation and the Florence City Council. His younger days growing up in Florence were a bit more adventurous as he, his brother and a friend may have been responsible for a house burning down or the endless taunting of the neighbors’ pet racoon. Dan loved to eat out and attended lots of his nephews, nieces, and step grandchildren sporting events. He was also known as Santa or the Easter Bunny during the holidays around Florence. His greatest joy was his family. 

Dan is survived by his wife Cathy of Florence, his father Ronald “Bunk” Ludwig of Florence, daughter Brandy Cross of Missouri, step children Jeremy and Michele Gossen, Brian and Andrea Rice, and Ben and Dallas Jantzen; grandchildren Colton, Cade, Cale, Barrett, Collins, MacKenzie and Cole and his siblings Douglas Ludwig of Florence, Tawnya (Steve) Sokoll of Wichita and Rolana (Scott) Heidebrecht of Marion and several nieces and nephews.

Don Blakeslee was born on May 3, 1928, in Atchison, KS, to George and Clarra Blakeslee.&nbsp; He passed away on February 21, 2022, in Hutchinson.

Don married Marjorie Garten of Newton, on August 19, 1950, on the campus of their Alma Mater KU.&nbsp; He has two children, Julia Drake and husband Steve, of Gaithersburg, MD, and Mark Blakeslee and wife Denise, of Nickerson.&nbsp; Don has six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emmalee, Pete, Corrine, Whitney, and Cassie Elizabeth, and ten great-grandchildren.

He received a B.S. from KU in 1949 and EdD 1969 from the University of Wyoming.&nbsp; Don was inducted into the US Army and served as a Battery Commander, as a first lieutenant in Korea where he earned a Bronze Star.&nbsp; He referred to his military experiences frequently.&nbsp;

Marjorie, his wife and he, moved to Wyoming in 1953.&nbsp; They returned to Kansas in 2007.&nbsp; Dr. B worked as a classroom teacher, guidance counselor, interim superintendent, Director of Curriculum, and School Board member in Rawlins, WY, Carbon County School District number one over a fifty plus year career.&nbsp; A distinguished career in education locally and nationally with WEA/NEA was had by him.&nbsp; Serving as local president and state president of WEA.&nbsp; Director of WEA from 1967-1976 representing Wyoming at the NEA was an additional honor of his.&nbsp; He was also a member of the Wyoming State Board of Education from 1975-1981.&nbsp; Dr. B was also a trainer and member of AARP 1989-1997.&nbsp; Don was involved with his local church in Wyoming as an ordained elder.&nbsp; As chairman of the NEA International Relations Committee, he traveled to London, Nairobi, Kenya, Berlin, Morges, Switzerland, and Paris.&nbsp; Dr. B traveled to provide evaluations for schools as a part of the North Central Association 1984-1989.&nbsp; Dr. B was proudly the Rawlins High School Student Council Sponsor from 1957-1989.&nbsp; &nbsp;He received awards from Wyoming Personnel and Guidance Association for Outstanding Contribution 1968, Gold Key for Outstanding Service to Education, WEA 1971, Honorary Life Membership to PTA, Meritorious Service Award North Central Association 1986, Outstanding Contribution to Education Wyoming School Boards Association 1989,&nbsp; North Central Association Excellence in Education 1988, Centennial Honored Graduate Atchison County Community High School (one of 100 top graduates from previous 100 years), and School Bell award for Outstanding Service to Education Wyoming School Boards Association 2000.&nbsp;

Ruth Lucille Barbour, 95, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022. She was born on February 16, 1926 in Turon, to Harrison and Georgia Elliot. As a young teen Ruth worked at a restaurant where she met her husband, Joe Barbour. They married on July 8, 1944, then they moved to Pratt where they raised their 4 children. Ruth graduated from Turon High School. She worked as retail clerk at Duckwall's and she also worked at the Pratt Tribune. She was a founding member of the Fireliters Camping Club in Pratt. Ruth cared deeply for her family. She was always involved in charitable work and doing anything she could for others. She enjoyed camping, gardening, traveling, crafting, cooking, as well as making candy every year for Christmas. She is survived by sons, Dennis (Jacqueline) Barbour and Stanley Barbour; grandchild, Gage Barbour; sisters, Carol Geiger and Mert "Maggie" Gowan. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Barbour; parents, Harrison Elliot and Georgia M. Thorp; son, Charles Barbour; daughter, Ruth Ann Stiener; grandchild, Laura Diane Barr; son-in-law, Andrew Steiner; and brother, Dwayne Elliot. Frank Patton, Jr., 64, passed away February 22, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; He was born January 31, 1958, in Pawnee, OK, to Frank and Helen (Smith) Patton, Sr.

Frank was a graduate of Fairfax High School, Fairfax, OK.&nbsp; He worked as a Corrections Officer at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility, retiring with 15 years of service.

Frank was a lifetime fan of Oklahoma Sooner football and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.&nbsp; He was an amazing husband, father, ‘Papa’, brother, and uncle.

On November 23, 1979, Frank married Donna Kistler, in Johnson. They shared over 42 years of marriage.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Donna Patton of South Hutchinson; daughters, Misty Isley and Rochelle (Jeff) Harmony, both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Bryce Isley, Breckyn Isley, Braelyn Harmony, and Jace Harmony; sisters, Frankie (Larry) Porter, Nancy McConnell, and Sue Kendrick; sister-in-law, Darla Sharp; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gordon L. Koehn, 86, passed away February 23, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge.

 He was born March 10, 1935 in Galva, to Jonas and Laura (Koehn) Koehn. He married Doris Koehn May 17, 1957 in Burns, Kansas. 

Survivors include: daughters, Lori (Reginald) Hiebert of rural Hillsboro, Karen (Larry) Ensz of rural Hillsboro, Barbara (Terry) Hiebert of Pecos, Texas, Beverly (Nelson) Wiebe of Durham; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. 

Predeceased by his wife Doris Koehn in 2016.

Gordon L. Koehn  |1935-2022| 

Lois Jean Grauman Reimer was born April 26, 1933 in a farmhouse near Harvey, North Dakota. Lois graduated from Harvey High School in 1951 and began attending Tabor College in Hillsboro, the following Fall.&nbsp; At Tabor, she met Roland Reimer.

Roland and Lois were married at the Harvey North Dakota Mennonite Brethren Church August 22, 1953.&nbsp; Lois was a devoted wife to her husband in his role as a minister in churches in Topeka; Denver, Colorado; and Wichita.

Lois supported Roland as he completed college in Hillsboro, &nbsp;graduate studies in Fresno California and doctoral studies in Pasadena California. Throughout her professional life, Lois was employed and worked administratively in Medical Records, as a Secretary/Receptionist, and as a Human Resource assistant.

Lois was the mother of two children, and grandmother of five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.&nbsp; She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Emma (Seibel) Grauman, one sister, two brothers, three half brothers, and husband, Roland.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Karen Reimer of Overland Park; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandra Reimer of Visalia California; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Ryan) Parks, Rebekah (Brad) Kingsley; &nbsp;grandsons, Michael (D’Ann), Daniel (Tom) and David J Reimer.&nbsp; In addition, great grandchildren, Brandon, Collin, and Logan Parks, William and Anna Grace Kingsley, and Aaron Reimer; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Lois passed away at Schowalter Villa February 23, 2022 following a brief illness.&nbsp; A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Buhler Municipal Cemetery.&nbsp; A memorial gathering is being planned.&nbsp; Details are pending.&nbsp;

Lois graduated from Harvey High School in 1951 and began attending Tabor College in Hillsboro, the following Fall.&nbsp; At Tabor, she met Roland Reimer.Roland and Lois were married at the Harvey North Dakota Mennonite Brethren Church August 22, 1953.&nbsp; Lois was a devoted wife to her husband in his role as a minister in churches in Topeka; Denver, Colorado; and Wichita.Lois supported Roland as he completed college in Hillsboro, &nbsp;graduate studies in Fresno California and doctoral studies in Pasadena California. Throughout her professional life, Lois was employed and worked administratively in Medical Records, as a Secretary/Receptionist, and as a Human Resource assistant.Lois was the mother of two children, and grandmother of five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.&nbsp; She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Emma (Seibel) Grauman, one sister, two brothers, three half brothers, and husband, Roland.Lois is survived by her daughter, Karen Reimer of Overland Park; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandra Reimer of Visalia California; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Ryan) Parks, Rebekah (Brad) Kingsley; &nbsp;grandsons, Michael (D’Ann), Daniel (Tom) and David J Reimer.&nbsp; In addition, great grandchildren, Brandon, Collin, and Logan Parks, William and Anna Grace Kingsley, and Aaron Reimer; and many loving nieces and nephews.Lois passed away at Schowalter Villa February 23, 2022 following a brief illness.&nbsp; A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Buhler Municipal Cemetery.&nbsp; A memorial gathering is being planned.&nbsp; Details are pending.&nbsp;

Clayton, 82, passed away February 19, 2022 at her home in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born March 12, 1939, in Glen Elder, the daughter of Hoke S. and Cora Mae (Staley) Bailey.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Clayton; three brothers, Wilbert, Buster, and Willis; and three sisters, Letta, Barbara, and Lola. Rodney “Rod” C. Stevens, 66, died on February 16, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 15, 1955, in Osceola, Iowa, the son of Howard and Elvora (Lemmon) Stevens. The family moved to Kansas in the spring of 1966.

For many years Rod worked in mobile home manufacturing, construction, welding, and as an ironworker.

Rod enjoyed just about anything involving family and friends. Whether it was horseshoes, dominoes, going to the casino, riding his motorcycle, Walnut Valley festivals, shooting guns, or wrenching on anything with a motor.

Rod is survived by his sister, Alora Stevens Finch of Halstead; sister Nanette (Tom) Forrester, of rural Hillsboro; brother, Randy of Hutchinson; sister, Marla Dent of Halstead; and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. A visitation will be the evening prior on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Lucille C. “Lupe” Agoitia, 90, died February 20, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village. She was born September 8, 1931, in Hutchinson, to Marcelino A. and Guadalupe (Raya) Piña.

Lupe grew up in Hutchinson and was primarily a homemaker. She was an avid reader and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar Society. Lupe was also a member of GI Forum Auxiliary.

She is survived by: daughter, Carolyn Colvin (A.R.) of Hutchinson; son, Eric Agoitia (Veronica) of Wichita; grandchildren, Ryan Colvin, Samuel Agoitia, Courteney Kelsey (Jerry), Michael Colvin, Marcus Agoitia, Sophia Agoitia, Isaiah Agoitia, Leonardo Agoitia, Sebastian Agoitia; great-grandchildren, Oso Agoitia, Nox Kelsey; sister, Elisa Rodriguez (Anastacio) of Hutchinson; brother, Eddie Piña (Lori) of Rapid City, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles Mackey, 63, passed away on February 16, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi-
St. Francis, Wichita. He was born on August 13, 1958 in North Tarrytown, NY,
the son of Donald V. and Alice (Hardwood) Mackey. 
 
Daniel graduated from Croton-Harmon High School in Croton-on-Hudson, NY.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a self-employed carpenter.&nbsp;&nbsp; On May 27, 1989, he married Ana Gonzalez in Ossining,
NY.&nbsp; On their 25th anniversary, they renewed their vows in
Wichita, KS. Daniel was a family man. &nbsp;His
absence will be a great void in all his loved ones lives, however Daniel’s
memory will live on with each of them with wonderful memories and the stories
they will share with their children and grandchildren.&nbsp; Daniel certainly left a legacy of love.&nbsp; He found great joy in helping the homeless,
whether it was spreading the word of God or serving food at the Soup Kitchen.&nbsp; He loved to pray, read and go on walks. 
 
Preceding him in death are his parents.
