Clydene Lucille Morton, 98, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2022 at Diversacare Health and Rehabilitaion in Hutchinson, after having celebrated her 98th birthday recently.&nbsp; The second youngest of 9 children, she was born on January 30, 1924 to Harry Clyde and Maude Jane ( Myers) Morton, Dene was a life long resident of Hutchinson and a devoted Kansas State Fair attendee yearly since early childhood.&nbsp; She bicycled everywhere she went, and was an avid theater goer and film buff for most of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp;

There will be no services.&nbsp; There will be a private burial in the Morton family plot at Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Eileen Galliart, 85, formerly of Hutchinson, died April 6, 2022, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler.&nbsp; She was born April 25, 1936, in Spring Hill, to James Walter and Lora Marie (Wikoff) Arnold.

Eileen graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954.&nbsp; She retired from Peel’s Beauty Supply after over 40 years of service as the executive secretary and accounts receivable manager.&nbsp; In addition, she sold Mary Kay cosmetics.&nbsp; Eileen enjoyed gardening, and volunteering, especially at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, and she was an active member of Altrusa since 1972.&nbsp; Eileen was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Doers Sunday school class, and Sanctuary Choir.

On July 9, 1954, she married Glen Galliart (just two months after her high school graduation), at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He died March 13, 2013, after sharing almost 59 years of marriage.

Eileen is survived by: &nbsp;son, John Galliart (Donna) of Wichita; grandchildren, Todd Galliart (Melissa), Kyle Galliart (Rebekah), Tyler Galliart, and Jessica Galliart; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jonathan, Ava, Clarissa, Elizabeth, and Amber; sisters-in-law, Joan Arnold and Janice Arnold; and 22 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; brothers, James, Robert, William “Bill”, Norman, and Loran; and sister, Evalyn Huber.

Mariella R. Tobias Leclerc Sawin, 93, of Sterling, passed away March 31, 2022, at the Sterling Village, Sterling. She was born December 20, 1928, on a farm near Lyons, the daughter of Edward A. and Pearl Brothers Tobias. 

Mariella has resided in Sterling since 2017, formerly of Lyons. She attended Union Two rural grade school, graduating from Lyons High School with the class of 1946, and later attended Sterling College. Mariella worked with young people in 4-H, in the schools and with various civic groups, including the very earliest tourism committee in Lyons. Mariella was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, where she taught children’s Sunday school classes for twelve years, was a youth group leader, sang in the church choir and was the first office secretary. 

On October 15, 1948, Mariella was united in marriage with Albert “Tod” Leclerc in Lyons. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1989. On March 12, 1992, Mariella was united in marriage with Dean M. Sawin in Lyons. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2005. She is also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Cecil Tobias, Raymond Tobias, Robert Tobias, James Tobias, and baby Arthur Tobias; and sister, Helen Long and daughter, Jamie Leclerc. Mariella is survived by her son, Steven Leclerc of Hays; two daughters, Connie Leclerc of Lafayette, CO; and Diane Leclerc Tehan of Xenia, OH; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Alice K. (Meis) Sander, 70, died Monday, April 11, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home in Murdock, after fighting cancer for 6 months like a warrior, while maintaining dignity and grace throughout her courageous battle.

She was born November 18, 1951 in Hays, the daughter of Gilbert and Velma (Eidson) Meis. She graduated from Hays High School in 1969. On October 19, 1974, she married Alvin B. “Brad” Sander in Kinsley, KS. She was a longtime resident of Victoria, before moving to Kingman.

Alice loved quilting, sitting on her porch swing, cooking for her family and friends, traveling with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and beloved bulldogs, and sending cards to those she loved. She was an avid sports fan and a loyal fan of her beloved Kansas Jayhawks. She always put others before herself.

She is survived by her husband Brad; two daughters Shannon Sander of Hays, KS and Mandi Stephenson of Cheney; two grandchildren Connor Stephenson and Madilyn Stephenson; bulldogs Gertie and Roxie; brother Gilbert “Bill” Meis and wife Betty of Hays; sisters Joan Schoendaller and husband Leonard of Colorado Springs, CO; Shari Dreiling and husband Alex of Hays; sisters-in-law Gladys Swindler, Patty Billinger, Sandra Sander-Crawford; brother-in-law Darrell Sander, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law Alvin P. and Bonnie Sander; and two brothers-in-law Irwin “Irv” Sander and Marty Sander.

Alan passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2022, at Salem Home in Hillsboro. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Donna.

Louise Marie Schmidt, 91, passed away on April 12, 2022, at Pine Village in Moundridge.&nbsp; She was born to William and Helena (Janzen) Reimer on October 22, 1930, at Goessel.&nbsp; She joined siblings Rubena (Reimer) Chase and Ray Reimer.&nbsp;

She attended Pleasant Valley Grade School through eighth grade, then Goessel High School.&nbsp; Louise’s family circle was broken by the sudden death of her father from an aneurysm at the age of 55.&nbsp; At the time Louise was only 16 and felt the loss of her father keenly. Her faith was expressed through baptism on May 20,1945.

Louise married Willard J. “Bill” Schmidt at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church on April 19, 1951.&nbsp; They enjoyed almost 39 years of marriage, when Bill died suddenly of a heart attack on April 10, 1990.

Rodney Dean was born into the family on October 27, 1953.&nbsp; Janell Sue joined on October 13, 1955.&nbsp; A son, Kevin Scott, was born on January 1, 1961, but lived only three days, due to underdeveloped lungs.&nbsp; They welcomed Joel Kent into the family on October 13, 1963.

Louise was a homemaker, a seamstress and a nurse’s aide.&nbsp; She was a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. &nbsp;In her final days, she continued to express how God had been so good to her.&nbsp; She was so blessed.

Louise will be missed by her children, Rod and Marsha Schmidt, Janell Klaassen, and Joel Schmidt; grandchildren, Kara Schmidt, Kiley Schmidt, Angela Klaassen, Michael Klaassen, Tyler (Sara) Schmidt, and Trey Schmidt; brother and sister-in-law, Rannie and Meribeth Schmidt; many nieces; nephews; and friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Kevin; son-in-law, Milford Klaassen; and her siblings.

Marcie was a homemaker and also worked with her husband, Ron, in his painting business, Woelk Painting, after he retired from Sears. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, where she taught preschool and Sunday School. Marcie was also a member of Women of the Moose Hutchinson Chapter #1371. She also enjoyed gardening and being a Den Mother for her sons’ Cub Scout troops.

On February 25, 1943, Marcie married Ronald V. “Ron” Woelk, in Cottonwood Falls. They shared nearly 70 years of marriage before his death on May 19, 2012.

She is survived by: her sons, Bob Woelk of Winfield, Darrell Woelk (Barbara) of Austin, TX, Keith Woelk (Brenda) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Kathy Jaafar (Yassin), Matthew Woelk, Paul Woelk (Heather), Chad Woelk; great-grandchildren, Ali Jaafar, Anna Woelk, Gavin Woelk, Owen Woelk; and many extended family members.

Selbert Len “Lennie” Young, 55, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 1, 1967 in El Dorado to Selbert Lee and Mary Anna (Hutson) Young. They later divorced and his mother married Eugene Watkins who raised Lennie. Lennie worked as a stone mason. He enjoyed motorcycles, derby cars, and attending music festivals. He is survived by his daughter, Brianna (Aric) Hook of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Everett, Elias, Ezra and Elora Hook; and siblings, Connie Smith of Douglass; Cheryl Longpine of Enid, Oklahoma; Jerry Young of Malta Bend, Missouri; Patty Morgan of Stafford; Ricky Young of Pratt; Tamara Darling of Wichita; Kevin Watkins of Kingman; and Marlene Sammons of Memphis, Tennessee. Lennie is preceded in death by his father, Selbert Lee Young; mother, Mary Anna Watkins; Stepfather, Eugene Watkins; daughter, Brittany Young; and brother, Ronnie Young. Cremation has taken place. Selbert Len “Lennie” Young, 55, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 1, 1967 in El Dorado to Selbert Lee and Mary Anna (Hutson) Young. They later divorced and his mother married Eugene Watkins who raised Lennie. Lennie worked as a stone mason. He enjoyed motorcycles, derby cars, and attending music festivals. He is survived by his daughter, Brianna (Aric) Hook of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Everett, Elias, Ezra and Elora Hook; and siblings, Connie Smith of Douglass; Cheryl Longpine of Enid, Oklahoma; Jerry Young of Malta Bend, Missouri; Patty Morgan of Stafford; Ricky Young of Pratt; Tamara Darling of Wichita; Kevin Watkins of Kingman; and Marlene Sammons of Memphis, Tennessee. Lennie is preceded in death by his father, Selbert Lee Young; mother, Mary Anna Watkins; Stepfather, Eugene Watkins; daughter, Brittany Young; and brother, Ronnie Young. Cremation has taken place. Galland E. Ellwood, 89, of Windom, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River.&nbsp; He was a devoted Christian, farmer, rancher, and family man.

Galland was born on August 26, 1932, in McPherson, the son of Glenford LeRoy and Acelee (Neel) Ellwood.&nbsp; He graduated from Windom High School in 1951.&nbsp; On September 1, 1953, Galland was united in marriage to Della Mae Meek in Windom.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children, Michael, Randall, Rhonda, and Krystal.

He was a longtime member of the Windom community and the Windom Church of Christ.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 68 years, Della of the home; three children, Randall “Randy” (Nancy) Ellwood, Rhonda Fortenberry, and Krystal “Krysti” (Jason) Bergkamp, all of Windom, KS; two sisters, Jeanine (Stanley) McNally of Salina, and Linda (Bill) Teeter of Little River; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Ellwood, two sons-in-law, Nick Prindle and David Fortenberry; and a great-grandson, Calum Block.

Ami L. (Snyder) Filler, 47, passed away unexpectedly,&nbsp; February 9, 2022 in Mesa, Arizona.&nbsp; Ami was born on September 8, 1974 on post at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the daughter of Sherry McNeil,&nbsp;Apex&nbsp;North Carolina&nbsp;&amp; Ric Snyder, Hutchinson.

Ami was an army child and attended primary school in Augsburg Germany.&nbsp; After her father was honorably discharged the family adventures took them to; Olathe; Charleston, West Virginia; Liberty, Missouri and then Charleston, S. Carolina, where Ami graduated from Middleton High School in 1992.&nbsp; Ami enjoyed a busy childhood filled with soccer, cheer leading and show choir. She enjoyed time at the beach and studying with friends.&nbsp; Ami attended Mid America Nazarene College, Olathe, Kansas and ultimately graduated from Phoenix Community College, Phoenix, Arizona with a degree in Occupational Therapy where she then began her career working with challenged kids in the Dysart High School, Arizona.

Ami and her former spouse Robert "Mark" Filler had three beautiful children who were the light of her life.&nbsp; Ami and Mark's marriage took them from Olathe, Dallas, Texas; Hutchinson, Lyons, and finally settling in Surprise, Arizona in 2007 to present.&nbsp;

She is survived by children; son, Jacob "Gabe" (Taelor) Filler; daughters, Sidney Filler and Julianna Filler all of Surprise Arizona.

Francis Irene Glenn, 89, of Little River, passed away on April 10, 2022 at the Sandstone Heights Nursing Home.&nbsp; Francis was born on January 18, 1933 to Edward and May ( Snell) Dick in Hutchinson.&nbsp; She married Harlan Glenn on August 16, 1949 in Newton.&nbsp; They were married for 65 years before his death on April 3, 2014.&nbsp; Francis worked at many places over her career, retiring from Sterling Drug Corporation in 1988.&nbsp; Francis enjoyed taking care of her family, home, pets, and had a tremendous green thumb with numerous plants and flowers.&nbsp; In addition, she enjoyed her 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as much as possible.

Francis is preceded by her husband, Harlan and grandson Nathan Schierling.

Warren C. Wilt died April 8, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. He was born November 5, 1922 in Plevna; the seventh child of Harry and Edna Clement Wilt.

Orphaned at the age of two, Warren traveled between homes and depended upon the kindness of strangers for most of his childhood. By the age of seven, he was sleeping on barn floors and doing manual labor before and after school for his room and board. He often stated that the army was his first “real” home because he finally “felt at peace in knowing what tomorrow held.” This statement is especially poignant coming from a man who experienced, firsthand, the atrocities of a major war and the accompanying uncertainties.

Warren, along with three of his brothers, served in the military during WW II. Warren enlisted in the Army in 1943, and was sent to Fort Bragg, North Carolina to begin training as a paratrooper. He was initially in the Army Air Corps, but soon after enlistment he volunteered for the airborne. After passing the arduous and elite program, he shipped off to England where he served with the 82nd Airborne, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR).&nbsp;He participated in the D-Day Normandy Assault on June 6, 1944, as a private in Company H of the 508th&nbsp;PIR; landing on Picauville, France (June 6, 1944). Picauville was one of the first towns liberated by Allied forces following the Normandy landings. On June 26, 1945, he was hit by a German mortar round leaving him with multiple wounds, requiring hospitalization for months. After recovering from the injuries, he returned to the front lines for the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, as a Private First Class (Pfc) in Company G, where his specialties were Bazooka Gunner and Radio Operator. That winter was one of the coldest in Europe, and Warren suffered from frostbite and was again wounded on January 7, 1945, from shrapnel that hit his left arm and shoulder. Fragments from this blast hit a small prayer book that was tucked away in his left breast pocket, directly over his heart; protecting him from the flying shrapnel. The piece of metal went three-fourths through the small book, stopping on the page where the words were “I will protect you.” He recovered from these injuries and was assigned to a 713th&nbsp;Military Police (MP) Battalion, and was stationed in post-war Berlin where he served on the security detail for President Truman during the Potsdam Conference. Following the surrender of Germany, Warren was discharged December 24, 1945, and made his way back to Kansas on Christmas Day. Warren was awarded the&nbsp;Parachutist Wings and the Combat Infantryman Badge; the Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart Medal; Victory Medal; European Theater Medal with Bronze Arrowhead; Distinguished Unit Citation;&nbsp;and a France Croix De Guerre for his service during the D-Day invasion.

His return from the war brought an immediate proposal to his high school sweetheart, Charlyne Bridgeman, and the two were married in the Abbyville Methodist Church on August 8, 1946. They were married for almost 72 years, had four children and lived most of their married life in Abbyville. Warren retired from Singleton-Joyce after 31 years and opened his own mechanic shop, working there until his retirement in 2012 at the age of 89. Warren could fix, build or remake just about anything that needed a repair; even creating and building unique tools for specific jobs. He made much of the furniture in the household, and was constantly remodeling his long-time cherished family home.

Warren moved to Overland Park, after the death of Charlyne in 2018. He lived independently, but had the constant attention and care of his youngest daughter, Judy, and her husband, John. &nbsp;They lovingly cared for him until his death.

Theresa L. Toscano, 58, died on March 20, 2022, at NMCHealth in Newton.

She was born May 21, 1964, in New York, New York, the daughter of John Lally and Etta Mae Swarts.

On August 30, 1997, Theresa married Jose Manuel Lozano-Toscano.

During Theresa’s life she had many careers. In Newton she worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken, Newell Truck Plaza as a house keeper, and as a dispatcher for Wray Roofing. For several years she also worked as a C.N.A.. Whatever the job was, Theresa did it will and with pride.

A free and fun loving spirit, Theresa loved to travel and lived in many different places throughout her life. As she got older she became more of a homebody and began to enjoy the simplicity of sitting out on the deck in the mornings with a coffee in one hand and her phone in the other.

Theresa enjoyed the outdoors and nature and could often be found tending to her garden or with a fishing pole in hand awaiting a bite. She also enjoyed playing bingo, belting out her favorite songs at karaoke, or attending a concert.

Theresa loved her family and friends and many of her favorite past-times were spent in their company. Often Theresa showed others her love for them by lending a helping hand, something that was evident as she did what she could to help her mom, Etta.

Theresa was unforgettable, from her ability to make you laugh with her incredible sense of humor to how easily she showed kindness to others (even those who may not have been so kind), she was truly remarkable. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Kimberly Sue Bailey, 51, died April 5, 2022, in Hillsboro, KS.&nbsp; She was born July 18, 1970, in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Larry and Judy (Grosskopf) Brehm.

Kim was a 1988 graduate of Blue Hill High School, Blue Hill, NE, and a 1997 graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

She is survived by:&nbsp; her son, Carter and his father, Chris, of Owasso, OK; and brother, Kevin Brehm and wife Rachel of Chapman, NE.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Chloe Bailey.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pine Street, Blue Hill, NE.&nbsp; A private burial will be at a later date in Hutchinson, KS.

Billy Gene ‘Bill’ Durbin, 89, of Hutchinson, died April 9, 2022, at Hospice House. He was born October 3, 1932, in Hutchinson, the son of Ephie and Edith (McKenna) Durbin.

Bill graduated from Pratt High School in 1950 and worked as a machine operator for the Santa Fe railroad for 2 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1972 as an air traffic controller, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He earned a second retirement with Hutchinson USD 308, where he worked as a locksmith for 21 years.&nbsp; For many years he showed prize winning geese and ducks at the Kansas State Fair and later became a judge for that division. Bill enjoyed drawing, woodworking and devoted many hours helping local organizations and friends with their carpentry projects.

Bill was a member of New Life Christian Church, State Fair Promenaders, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Retired Master Sergeant’s Association, Air Force Sergeant’s Association, and Hutchinson Area Retired School Personnel Association.

On April 10, 2004, he married Shirley A. (Williams) Mitchell in Hutchinson. She survives.

James Dale Hadley, 74, passed away April 9, 2022 at his residence. He was born on March 14, 1948, the youngest child of Dale and Gwendola (Conrad) Hadley. When Jim was in the second grade, the family moved to Manhattan. He attended Manhattan schools and graduated in 1966. Soon after graduation, he moved to Hillsboro with his family and worked at Paul and Ray's Supermarket before moving to Topeka, where he worked in the supply room at Stormont Vail Hospital. There in Topeka, he met and married Diana Kistner on October 11, 1970. To this union they were blessed with two daughters, Tami and Laurie. In 1972, Jim and Diana moved back to Hillsboro and Jim worked at Hillsboro Ford for 42 years. He was always a Ford man. Jim was a very kind and caring man, and his family was always his main priority and love. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. Survivors include his wife, Diana, of 51 years, daughters Tami Hadley of Newton and Laurie Morales-Diaz (Mike) of Manhattan, two granddaughters Lanni and Aiyanna Morales-Diaz of Manhattan, brother Pearl Hadley (Velma) of Hillsboro, sister Joyce Steele of Moscow, Idaho, sister-in-law Trudy Bowen (Charley) of Rogersville, Missouri and many nieces and nephews. Jack graduated from Pratt High School in 1967. He went on to receive his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Emporia State University in 1972. He worked for Dillons for 39 years in several positions as produce manager, grocery manager, scanning coordinator and safety risk manager. He was a member of Elks Lodge BPOE #1351, where he was an Exaulted Ruler for 2000-2001 and 2016-2017. He enjoyed snake hunting for over 50 years, Las Vegas Raiders, cooking, fishing, watching John Wayne movies, family gatherings and doing the Elks Hoop Shoot and Thanksgiving Baskets and other Elks activities. He is survived by his son, Kyle Bailey of Pratt; daughter, Jessica (fiance, Chris Chisham) Bailey of Pratt; grandchildren, Ryan Bailey, Ashlynn Colavito, Lauren Franklin and Karson Franklin all of Pratt; niece, Jo-Ann (Terry) Goodness Drake of Michigan; former wife of 41 years, Cheryl McCollum of Pratt; and many other family members and friends. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Legion of Mary Auxiliary. John worked as a maintenance person for the McPherson Junior High and the Daylight Donut Shop as a baker. John was a former member of the Son's of American Legion Post 24. John enjoyed his family especially the reunion's, watching Fox News and keeping up on current events, sharing his opinion with his friends; KU Basketball; and watching his San Francisco 49er's and the Kansas City Chief's Football. John Wayne Bledsoe  |1962-2022| 

Gerald Allen Schmidt, 85, passed away at the Hospice House of Reno County in Hutchinson on April 7, 2022.

He was born on May 14, 1936 to Emery and Leona Schmidt in Rural Stafford County.&nbsp; He attended York Center School, a one room school house through 8th&nbsp;grade, and then graduated from Stafford High School in 1954.&nbsp; He married Carole Louise Dreiling on January 24, 1959, at which time, they began their 50 year life journey together.

Gerald had many passions, including flying, gardening, a weed free/green yard, horses, dogs, cats and KU Basketball. He fed birds, squirrels, turkeys, deer and any other critters that wondered into his yard.&nbsp; &nbsp;Farming was in his blood and working as a custom harvester was a result of his agriculture background. His vehicles and equipment were kept spotless and polished. However, his greatest passion of all was his family.&nbsp; There was no doubt he felt his two kids, six grandkids and nine great grandkids were his greatest accomplishments in life and they all brought him so much joy!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Leona Schmidt, an infant sister, his loving wife, Carole Schmidt and Grandson Boe Keesling, along with many other family and friends.

Surviving family members include son Brad Schmidt (Kelly Schmidt) of Arlington. and&nbsp; daughter Kathi Keesling (Jeff Keesling) of Sylvia.&nbsp;&nbsp; Six grandkids; Jeramie Schmidt, Chadd Schmidt (Jesse) and Kecia Schmidt, all of Arlington;&nbsp; Erica Keesling, (wife of Boe), Lenexa; &nbsp;Brett Keesling (Shelly), Spearville; and Bree Jones (Brandon), Pratt.&nbsp; Nine great grandkids, Piper and Baron Schmidt, Avaree &amp; Emersyn Keesling, Harrison, Layna and Millie Gene Keesling, Jaxton and Eli Jones.&nbsp; Gerald also has a surviving sister, Nadine Fuller (KO), McPherson, and a surviving brother, Larry Schmidt (Sylvia)

LaVon Henry Wilcox, 79, of rural Little River, passed away April 6, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 29, 1943, in Byars, Oklahoma, the son of Kenneth and Eula Grider Wilcox. 

LaVon has resided in Little River since 1981, formerly of Hutchinson. He graduated from Wayne High School in Wayne, OK, with the class of 1961. LaVon received his Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University in 1970 and later received his Master of Science degree in 1973. He was a high school science teacher first in Oklahoma and then for Hutchinson USD 308 from 1972 until his retirement in 2004. 

LaVon was a farmer and cattleman, and during his retirement years he drove a school bus for Little River/Windom School District USD #444 and operated a road grader for Hayes Township in McPherson County. LaVon was a member of the Little River First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Windom Lions Club, and HARSPA. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and trapping, and was an antique bottle collector. 

On July 3, 1976, LaVon was united in marriage with Marla Kay Summers in Hutchinson. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his three children, Kenneth Hitch and wife Regina of Drumright, OK; Andrea Willard and husband David of rural Little River; and Andrew Wilcox and wife Molly of Parker, CO; five granddaughters, Ashley Douglas and husband Chris of Grapevine, TX; McKenzie Hall and husband John of Stillwater, OK; Kristina Douglass and husband Cory of Drumright, OK; and twins, Eve and Isla Wilcox of Parker, CO; niece, Monica Mundell of Byars, OK; aunt, Lorene Maupin of Oklahoma City, OK; and numerous cousins. LaVon is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley Slaughter.

He is also survived by his three children, Kenneth Hitch and wife Regina of Drumright, OK; Andrea Willard and husband David of rural Little River; and Andrew Wilcox and wife Molly of Parker, CO; five granddaughters, Ashley Douglas and husband Chris of Grapevine, TX; McKenzie Hall and husband John of Stillwater, OK; Kristina Douglass and husband Cory of Drumright, OK; and twins, Eve and Isla Wilcox of Parker, CO; niece, Monica Mundell of Byars, OK; aunt, Lorene Maupin of Oklahoma City, OK; and numerous cousins. LaVon is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley Slaughter. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 11, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Little River, with Pastor Jeff Goetzinger officiating. James Robert “Jim” Attleson, 90, of Lindsborg died Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Riverview Estates in Marquette.  Jim was born October 28, 1931 in New Hampton, IA to the late Sjur G. and the late Andrena M. (Johnson) Attleson.  

Jim graduated high school in 1949.  He also attended 8 years of night school at the University of Denver Extension.  Jim was the husband of the late Dolores Attleson.  He was a United States Navy veteran and served during the Korean War. 

Jim worked as a planned giving coordinator.  He was the Director of Planned Giving at Bethany College, St. Francis Boys Homes, and retired from O.C.C.K. in 1994.  

Active in his community, Jim was a member of American Legion Post #140 Lindsborg, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2715 McPherson, was a past president of the American Business Clubs (AMBUCS), and a past president of the Lindsborg Rotary Club.  Dedicated to his faith, Jim was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. It was here that he was a member of the first class of Stephen’s Ministries, sat on the church council, and was a past Chair of the Worship Music Committee.

He is survived by daughters: Kimberly Blomberg (Kent), of Lindsborg, and Karla J. Pihl (Kendall), of Falun; son: Kevin J. Attleson (Kim), of Bella Vista, AR; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.  

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores; son: Keith Attleson; brothers: Bud and Dick Attleson; sisters: Signora Goss, Melba Gilbert, Karen Feind; and Paulette Trewin; 3 nieces; and 1 nephew.

Visitation will be Monday, April 11 from 5-7PM at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 320 N. Main St., Lindsborg, with Pastor Chris Deines officiating.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Jerry R. “JR” Royer, 83, died April 7, 2022 at Pretty Prairie.

He was born April 11, 1938, at Scott City, the son of Ernest Eugene “Jerry” and Amy Lillian Tomberlin Royer.&nbsp; A longtime resident of the Pretty Prairie community, he was a manager for several businesses, a longtime referee for high school athletics, and was the former Commissioner of the Heart of the Plains.

JR was a member of the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church; the KSHSAA; selected to the Greater Wichita Officials Association Hall of Fame in 2013; Retired Officiating Coaching Association; and was heavily involved in the creation of the Links Golf Course in Pretty Prairie.

On Dec. 27, 1959, he married Nancy Seyb at Pretty Prairie.&nbsp; Other survivors include children, Kevin and Debbie Royer, &nbsp;Kim and Joe Berning and Kari and John Heimerman; sister Kay Bennett; sister-in-law Dot Royer; grandchildren Kylea, Ken, Gentry, Jessi, Ashton and Layke; and great-grandchildren Theo, Emmett, Collins, Hattie, Aidan, Lincoln and Rory.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by a brother Ted.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Lone Star Cemetery.
