Judith K. Markel (Bolinger), 83, of Pretty Prairie, passed away April 15, 2022 after a two year battle with stage four pancreatic cancer.

Judy was born Jan. 8, 1939, to Herbert and Julia Bolinger in Wichita. An only child, she was their pride and joy.  Judy attended schools in Wichita and after graduating as a West High Pioneer in 1955, she worked with her best friend, Barb Love, at Yingling Aircraft.  Later, while working at Master Machine Tools in Hutchinson, she met her husband, Ed.

On May 14, 1976, Judy married Edward Markel at Pretty Prairie where they raised their four children and have lived for almost fifty years.

Judy, a lover of music, spent much of her life singing and leading music.  She was a former member of the Wichita Sweet Adelines.  She lead the Pretty Prairie Methodist Church choir for over thirty years and she sang in the Reno County Choral Society.

Judy like to play the piano, accordion and harp.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, enjoying games, food, laughter and being surrounded by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her favorite dogs and cats.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Julia Bolinger.  She is survived by her loving husband Edward Markel; children Connie Vogt, Liz Shepherd, Daryl (Lynette) Markel of Pretty Prairie, and Aimee (Mike) Jones of Yoder; grandchildren Travis (Juli) Vogt, Justin (Rita) Vogt, Kacie (Brady) Herman, Connor (Cass) Owen, Hunter (Wren) Owen, Tony (Julie) Markel, Andrea (Cody) Hastings, Zac Mitchell, Stefanie Markel, Jimmy (Tina) Mitchell, Raven (TJ) Lane, Josh Jones, Tanner (Makayla) Jones and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Pretty Prairie.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.  Burial will be in the Lone Star Cemetery.
