A. Swenson-Cottle, 89, passed away Monday, June 4, 2022, Olathe Hospice House,
Olathe. 
Doris was born on December 21, 1932, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Travis
and Anna Evans Avery.&nbsp; She graduated from Hutchinson High School and
attended Hutchinson Community College where she received a degree in
Nutrition.&nbsp; Doris retired in 1995 after 25 years as a nutritionist service
manager for USD #308. &nbsp;On January 30, 1954, Doris married Lawrence
Swenson.&nbsp; He died April 16, 1994.&nbsp; On January 19, 2006, she married
Charles R. Cottle.&nbsp; He died on July 17, 2021. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lawrence and Robert; a son,
Edwin L. Swenson; and siblings, Emmett, Marion, and Henry Avery, Myrtle
Robinson, Alberta Crabbs and Donna Caldwell. 
Doris is survived by her son, Wayne Swenson; two daughters in law, Bonnie
Swenson and Randi Swenson-Bichelmeyer; four grandchildren, Todd (Qiera)
Swenson, Jill (Adam) Robb, Emily Swenson, and Lindsey (Derrik) Yoder; eight
great grandchildren, Sofia and Erik Swenson, Gabriella and Jacob Robb,
Lillianna, Alexis, Julianna and Addison Yoder;&nbsp; and two step-grandchildren,
Holly Davis Diemer and Joseph E. Davis. 
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 13, 2022, at First
Church of the Nazarene, 4290 N. Monroe St., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Dustin
Bauerle officiating.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service
time Monday at the church.&nbsp; Burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial
Park, Hutchinson.

Larry passed away in his home after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Hutchinson, KS January 16,1942. Beloved son of Bernice L Corkins and Elizabeth (Hamilton) Corkins.

Larry married Claudine Woodall on October 25,1963. They shared almost 59 wonderful years together.

Preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Ted Richardson. Son Larry Dale Corkins and daughter Rebecca Lynn Bone. Siblings Faye Clark, May Oxenreider, Marie Clark, Gary Corkins, Jerry Corkins and Bobby Corkins. Sister-in-Law Dixie Long.

Survived by his wife Claudine Corkins and daughter Candie Higginbotham (Tony) of Leavenworth.

He was gramps to:  Dale Martin (Jessica), Justin Corkins (Jessica), Ashlye Baxter (Jordan), Andrew Arnold (Shannon), Tyson Wooten, Whitney Corkins (Drew), Aaron Higginbotham (Felicia), Samantha Smith, Shane Higginbotham and 17 great grandchildren.

Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Retired from the Kansas State Fair after 24 years of service. Was a retired member of the Hutchinson Noon Lions Club. Member of the Buhler High School Class of 1960.

Larry loved to “fix” things. Loved western movies and watching MASH. He was a big John Wayne fan. Crafted miniature covered wagons and stagecoaches for his grandchildren.

Playing cards and dice games with friends and family was something Larry and Claudine enjoyed together their entire marriage.

Holidays and family gatherings were important to Larry. He looked forward to the fun, the love, the hugs and leftovers.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life at the Sand Hills Event Center in Hutchinson, KS will be held June 25th at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kansas Honor Flight in Care of Ryan Mortuary.

Billie Rickard, 89, of Medicine Lodge, died Monday, June 6, 2022 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born on January 26, 1933 in Kremlin, OK, the daughter of Ora Sharkey and Ruby (Hayes) Sharkey. On August 6, 1956, she married Bruce Everett Rickard in Alva, OK. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1997. Billie was a school teacher for 42 years and graduated from Oklahoma State University. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, the Pilot Club, KNEA and the Silver Hair Legislature. Surviving are two sons, Buddy (Pam) Rickard of Nashville, KS and Dirk Rickard of Wichita, KS; two daughters, Ricki Rickard of Phoenix, AZ; and Tonya (Ed) Taylor of St. Charles, IL; three grandchildren, Dusty (Ashlie) Rickard, Jordyn (Sam) Kinsler, and Caleb Taylor; five great grandchildren, Logan Kinsler, Avery Kinsler, Lathan Rickard, Riley Rickard, and Rowan Rickard; one brother, Jean Sharkey of Weskan; one sister, Barbara (Jim) Kirby of Stillwater, OK; one brother-in-law, Johnny Kroll of Perry, OK; numerous nieces and nephews. Larry L. Betsworth, 84, of Wichita, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.&nbsp; He was born in LeMars, Iowa to Leo Jacob and Amelia (Reker) Betsworth. After college, Larry was in engineering and drafting at Boeing Aircraft where he retired after 35 years of service.&nbsp;

He enjoyed years of showing and attending car shows. It is something he shared and passed down in his family.&nbsp; Yet his greatest love was spending time with his family.

Larry is survived by his wife Dee Betsworth, daughter Tresa Betsworth, son Mike Betsworth, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and friends.

He was preceded by his parents Leo and Amelia Betsworth, and his sister Mary Wall.

Wesley Joseph “Wes” Shultis, 38, of Marquette passed away , surrounded by his family, Saturday, June 4, 2022 at home in Marquette.  Wesley was born August 27, 1983 in Colorado Springs, CO to Allen Shultis  and the late Kari Swanson.  

Wes was a high school graduate and worked as a mechanic and machinist in the local area.  Wes enjoyed family, friends, fun, and fireworks.  Those that knew and loved Wes knew that he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.  If there was anything he loved more than the Cowboys, it was his children, Kaison and Elise.  They were and forever will be his pride and joy.

Survivors include his daughter: Elise Shultis; son: Kaison Shultis; father Allen Shultis (Candy); second parents: Chris and Lori Alstatt; brother: Cody Alstatt (Heidi) of Wichita, KS; sisters: Chendra Mitchell (Brian) of Marquette; Karissa Hoffman (Asbjorn) of McPherson; Caitlin Arbuckle (Kyle) of Marquette; Noell Alstatt of Marquette; and Bree Miller (Garett) of McPherson; grandparents: Leon and Donna Swanson; as well as 8 nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Wes was preceded in death by his mother, Kari Swanson and his brother, Josh Shultis, as well as numerous grandparents and extended family members.

Our Mom, Debbie Sue, was born
on September 22nd, 1955, in McPherson.

Mom was the second of four
children born to Art and Helen Regehr, her older sister Kathleen and two
younger brothers, Wayne &amp; Roger. They grew up on the family homestead north
of Inman, farming and running a prosperous hog business.

Nursing was Mom’s calling in
life, and after high school, she attended Hesston College to pursue her degree.
Upon graduation, she took a position at a mountain hospital in Pikeville,
Kentucky, where she met Gary Kendrick; in 1978 they were united in marriage and
settled back home in Kansas. Three children were blessed to Debbie &amp; Gary:
Joshua Douglas (Allison), Ashley Paige and Molly Rashel (Tyler). Their lineage
produced ten grandchildren: Clayton, Colton, Kaleb, Harper, Hudson, Harlow,
Halston, Perry, Sutton and Garrytt.

She is preceded in death by
her parents and is survived by her siblings, children and grandchildren.

Mom passed away on June 6, 2022, after a brief but mighty
fight with brain cancer. 

Visitation
will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Inman Funeral Home. The casket will remain

Marjorie was born on February 11, 1923, in Cumberland, IA, the daughter of Edwin L. and Esther (Moore) Swanson.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dennis, two sisters, Florence Chapman and Harriet Wulfmeyer, a brother Lawrence Swanson and a grandson Ronald Davis. Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Deloris Lofland and Deneise Rein both of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. M. Garcia died peacefully on June 5th, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Wichita, surrounded by her loving family. 
Cruz was born on May 3rd, 1924, at La Union, Coahuila (Mexico), to Zenon Medina
and Alejandra (Viesca) Medina. 
She married Jesus E. Garcia in 1947. He passed away October 17th, 1977. 
Cruz worked in housekeeping at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Grace Hospital and
Hutchinson Community College. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Antoinella Garcia;
son-in-law Antonio Castro and all of her siblings (3 brothers and 5 sisters). 
She is survived by a son, Jesse (Hutchinson); daughters, Rosemary Castro
(Wichita), Mary (Steve) Navarro (Dan) Antonio, TX; five grandchildren; Rosie
Ackerson, John Paul Castro, Teresa Castro, Michael Navarro, and Anthony
(Brianna) Navarro; four great grandchildren, JC (Christine) Caldwell, Tony
Caldwell, Gianna and Josiah Navarro, and 1 great - great granddaughter, Chanel
Caldwell. 
Cremation has taken place and a private gathering and funeral will take place
at a later date. 
She was a joy to be&nbsp;around and will be sorely missed by all those who

Robin Lynn Bolson, 41, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg, KS. Robin was born on August 24, 1980, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Gilbert “Gil” and Dessie “Sally” (Bird) Bolson.&nbsp; She was a past member of the United Methodist Church, Haviland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gil and Sally Bolson, and two brothers, Carl Hutson, Sr., and Jimmy Hutson, paternal grandparents, Howard and Eula Bolson and maternal grandparents, Carl and Lucille (Story) Bird. Robin is survived by her brother Gene (Michelle) Hutson of Hutchinson; a sister Michelle (Mark) McCabe of Hutchinson; two half-sisters, Kellie (Dennis) DeWitt and Kimberly (David) Jones all of Oklahoma; grandmother, Loretta Hutson of Hutchinson; a special best friend, Louise VanDyke of Greensburg, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Robin Lynn Bolson, 41, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg, KS. Robin was born on August 24, 1980, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Gilbert “Gil” and Dessie “Sally” (Bird) Bolson.&nbsp; She was a past member of the United Methodist Church, Haviland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gil and Sally Bolson, and two brothers, Carl Hutson, Sr., and Jimmy Hutson, paternal grandparents, Howard and Eula Bolson and maternal grandparents, Carl and Lucille (Story) Bird. Robin is survived by her brother Gene (Michelle) Hutson of Hutchinson; a sister Michelle (Mark) McCabe of Hutchinson; two half-sisters, Kellie (Dennis) DeWitt and Kimberly (David) Jones all of Oklahoma; grandmother, Loretta Hutson of Hutchinson; a special best friend, Louise VanDyke of Greensburg, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Billy Utah “Bill” Bearden, 88, died June 6, 2022, at Sedgwick Plaza Assisted Living in Wichita. He was born April 27, 1934, in Poughkeepsie, AR, to William A. and Estie D. (Harrison) Bearden.

Bill graduated from Ash Flat, AR, High School in 1952. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1966, the United States Naval Reserve, and the Kansas Army National Guard from 1981-1994. Bill graduated from Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, TX, in 1968,and served as a minister in the Church of Christ for many years. He worked for Kansas Power and Light from 1971 until retirement in 1999. He then served as a chaplain for Kansas Prison Ministries and was selected Kansas Volunteer of the Year. Bill was a member of IBEW, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and National Rifle Association.

On January 30, 1956, he married Katherine Marie Severin at Walker Air Force Base, Roswell, NM. They shared 62 years of marriage before her death on November 18, 2018.

Bill is survived by: his children, David Bearden (Mary) of Greeley, CO; Joseph Bearden (Thuy) of Wichita;, Cindy Carr (Thomas) of Andover; grandchildren, Travis Bearden (Desi), Amber Rhea (Brandon), Dustin Bearden (Amanda Roberts), Billy S. Carol worked in the cafeteria at Allen Grade School and Sherman Jr. High; she worked at Caldwell Greenhouse and also worked at Walmart as a cashier and in the pharmacy. Carol loved animals and plants, worked as a volunteer for Grief Support Network, and in the 1980's she made homemade Care Bears.

Carol is survived by: son, Steve Cox (Kelley Munden); daughter, Kimberly Cox; grandchildren, Micheal Smith (Megan), Ryan Smith (Traci), Katherine Schott (Michael), Allison Fischer and Stefani Voorhees; great-grandchildren, Gabe Jackson, Brennan Schott, and Lyric Smith; sister, Connie Suhler; brothers, Paul and Cecil Swenson.

Marilyn’s life began on August 30, 1929, in Wamego. She is the daughter of William Levi Fields and Alice M. Thompson Fields. 

Marilyn was a graduate of JP Elder High School in Fort Worth, TX. She started at Glass Containers, now Anchor Glass in Antioch, CA as a sweeper and retired after 30 years as a beloved supervisor for the Hot End. She worked and contributed her time to the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union. Marilyn had been a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion for many years. She made many friends and helped many more people in her life that can be said here. She will always be remembered fondly. She spent her spare time gardening, playing cards, bingo, making quilts, fishing, and travelling. 

Marilyn is survived by her grandchildren Mary Bacon of Warrenton, OR; Chuck Kenney of Hillsboro; Josh Kenney of New Zealand, Jake Kenney of Wichita; Daniel Kenney of Kansas City; Katrina Maltbie of Sacramento, CA, Brian Briggs and Mike Purdue of Antioch, CA; and Heather Tabor of Pennsylvania, 17 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Marilyn passed away on June 2, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She is preceded in death by her parents, four children Ellison Benfer, Randall Maltbie, Jimmie Maltbie, and Rita Maltbie and one grandson James Maltbie.

Thomas "Tom" Gene Wenrich, 63, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Pratt Health and Rehab. He was born on April 21, 1959 in Pratt to Joseph "Bud" John and Mary Agnes (Engel) Wenrich. Tom married Sherry (Stippich) Wenrich on January 22, 1983 in Wichita. They were married for 39 years. Tom graduated from Pratt High School in 1977. He attended Pratt Community College. Tom held several jobs throughout his life including a drill bit salesman, liquor store owner, service station owner, EMT, volunteer fire and rescue, and real estate agent and broker. He enjoyed fishing, camping and riding his Harley. He loved to show how much he appreciated family and friends through grilling, smoking and preparing meals. When his kids were young he was coach to them and their friends in their rec league sports. He was active in Jaycee’s and American Legion Riders. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughter, Lori (Curt) Thomas of Wichita; son, Brian (Kristen) Wenrich of Houston, Texas; brothers, Jim (Tammy) Wenrich of Pratt, Dave Wenrich of Topeka and Ron Wenrich of Wichita; sister, Sue (Ed) Corriston of Wichita; granddaughters, Rileigh and Kinsley Wenrich; four nieces; and eight nephews. Ronald Lee Hoagland, rancher and life-long Barber County, resident, died in Pratt, Kansas on June 3, 2022 at the age of 81.

Ronnie was born July 22, 1940 in Medicine Lodge, to Eva Darlene Morehead and Raymond Harold “Bill” Hoagland. He was raised on the family place north of Sun City with his siblings, Richard “Dick” and Deloris “Dee Dee”, and spent considerable time with his grandparents, Cliff and Bernice (Lott) Hoagland, on their ranch south of Lake City.

He was married to Judith Sue Thornton for 62 years and they raised four daughters, Marsha Ann, Kimberly Kay, Laura Diane, and Rhonda Sue. Surviving are his wife, Judy; daughters, Marsha Hoagland, Kim and Roger Fowles, Diane and Norman Johnson, and Rhonda and Robert Gabriel; sister, Deloris “Dee Dee” Freeman (Doug); sister-in-law, Janice Hoagland; grandchildren, Landon Fowles (Amy), Alexandra Koch, Abigaile Harris (Miles), Taylor Wheelock, Austin Wheelock, Blayze Scott, and Phinn Scott; great-grandchildren, Cooper Harris, Molly Harris, and Orion Fowles; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Richard “Dick” and Clifford, and son-in-law, Jay Scott.

Ronnie spent the majority of his time at his ranch south of Lake City. In addition to raising cattle, he spent considerable effort developing water sources, improving fencing, eradicating cedar trees, and improving the grasslands, as well as operating a sawmill for many years. One of his most significant improvements was the development of a 40-acre watershed for a water source and flood control, as well as recreational opportunities. The Barber County Conservation District recognized his lifetime of conversation activities by awarding him the Grassland Award in 2018. When he wasn’t working he could be found hunting, fishing, and filling the numerous deer feeders on the ranch. He was a prolific reader and was never without a book. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in the early 1970s and was a member of the Sun City Baptist Church.

A private family memorial service will be held at the Hoagland ranch on Saturday, June 11, 2022.

Raymon (Ray) Warren Compton, 87, passed away June 2, 2022 in Pratt. He was born on February 2, 1935 in Hugoton, to Gilbert Russel Compton and Thelma Mary (Cain) Compton.

Raymon married Vera Marie Stone on January 8, 1955 in Sun City. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2018. He was an active and devout member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pratt. Raymon loved to watch his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities, along with driving and enjoying God’s beauty.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Gary) Ward of Pratt; son, Joe Compton of Pratt; grandchildren, Elisa (Rene) VanDaalen of Lenexa, Jodi (Lance) Roe of Norcatur, April Ward of Pratt and Jayme (Nick) Borah of Norfolk, Virginia. There are 11 great-grandchildren. Raymon is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Marie (Stone) Compton; his parents; brothers, Lester, Dalton, and Dick; and sister, Mary Dell Lake.

Tammy’s loving family includes her mother Wanda Turner of Hope, siblings Tonya Johnson of Hope, Aaron (Tina) Lauxman of Hope, Larry Lauxman, Jr. of Hope, and Toni (Marc) Riffel of Woodbine, step brothers Ron (Teri) Turner of Scott City, and Glen Turner of Scott City; nieces and nephews Colby (Dea) Riffel, Kylie Riffel, Cody (Shyanne) Riffel, Alissa (Tyler) Emery, and Brian Lauxman; and six great nieces and nephews. 

Tammy passed away on Sunday June 5, 2022, at Salina Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her father Larry Lauxman, Sr., and stepfather Clayton Turner.

Raymon (Ray) Warren Compton, 87, passed away June 2, 2022 in Pratt. He was born on February 2, 1935 in Hugoton, to Gilbert Russel Compton and Thelma Mary (Cain) Compton.

Raymon married Vera Marie Stone on January 8, 1955 in Sun City. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2018. He was an active and devout member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pratt.

Raymon loved to watch his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities, along with driving and enjoying God’s beauty. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Gary) Ward of Pratt; son, Joe Compton of Pratt; grandchildren, Elisa (Rene) VanDaalen of Lenexa, Jodi (Lance) Roe of Norcatur, April Ward of Pratt and Jayme (Nick) Borah of Norfolk, Virginia. There are 11 great-grandchildren.

Raymon is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Marie (Stone) Compton; his parents; brothers, Lester, Dalton, and Dick; and sister, Mary Dell Lake.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 10458. Hwy 54, Pratt with Pastor John Kissell presiding. Inurnment will be at a later date at Sunnyside Cemetery, Sun City.

On Dec 26th, 1951, she married the love of her life Richard Loren Austin at St. Michael’s church in Collyer, and celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage. Georgia was a homemaker for their 5 children as well as an active volunteer at various churches.

Georgia was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge. She enjoyed playing cards and board games, birdwatching, watching KU basketball and the Chicago Cubs, listening to the radio, baking, sewing, camping and nature hiking.

Georgia was proceeded in death by her: son Kevin, son-in-law Rich Dinkel, her parents George &amp; Frances Malsam, her brothers Bill, Alvin, and Bud, her sisters Renilda Hecker and Lorena Schuster. Georgia is survived by her: son Kyle Austin &amp; wife Cindy of Preston. Daughters Kim Keller &amp; husband Gary of Garden City, Kerri Dinkel of Basehor, and Kona Errebo &amp; husband Gregg of Holcomb, daughter in law Mary Ann Austin of Shawnee. Her twin brother George and wife Margaret, sisters Gerry, Madeline &amp; husband Joe, Lavetta &amp; husband Tom, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ronald A. Sherrick, 78, of Newton, passed away at his home in Newton on May 28, 2022.

He was born December 15, 1943 in Valparaiso, Indiana to Harold and Bonnie June Sherrick. He married Peggy Ann Brault on July 15, 1978 in Newton. 

She survives of the home. He is survived by Sons, Steven M. Sherrick of the home and Thomas C. Brault and companion Julie Larez of Newton. Daughters Melanie (Tim) Kolaske of Lake Mills, Wisconsin and Vickie (Bill) Jaworski of Newton. Sisters Pamela Pfitzinger of Acworth, Georgia; Marcia (Russell) Ingram of Clearwater. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and one greatgrandchild and his precious fur babies Milo and Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Meridian Baptist Church, 1130 West Broadway in Newton, with Rev. Scott Kliewer officiating. Burial will follow the service and will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Shelia Kay Doolen, age 58, passed away on May 30, 2022 in Wichita, Kansas. She was born in Wichita, to parents Louie Fern Mowery and Robert Wayne Westerfield. 

After the death of her father, she was adopted by Lawrence Bradley Yoakum. Shelia was a graduate of Valley Center High School in 1981.&nbsp;

Shelia enjoyed reading, fishing, playing old school arcade games, and cooking her mother’s recipes for the family. Her greatest joy by far was spending time with her grandchildren.

Sheila was preceded in death by her spouse Daniel Dee Doolen, Sr and sisters Joyce and Carolyn.

Sheila was survived by her children Christopher Shane Rasmussen and his wife Nancy Elaine Rasmussen with grandchildren Alec, Lucas, and Greysen of Wichita; Julie Lynn Updegrove and her husband Richard Wayne Updegrove of Denver, Colorado; Kayla Danielle Doolen with her son Tristan Lane Richmeyer of Wichita, and Daniel Dee Doolen, Jr. of Wichita; siblings Diana, Robbie, Michelle, Sonny, Bruce, and grandchildren Devon Willard with his sons Dawson, Deyton, Daesyn; and Taylor Willard-Wicks with her daughter Addi.

Jean McCoy, 86, of Pretty Prairie, died June 3, 2022, at her home. She was born March 14, 1936, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Laurrant J. and Faye A. (Hagerman) Rollins.

Jean graduated from Wichita East High School in 1954. She worked as a secretary at Krause Plow in Hutchinson for 32 years, retiring in 2000. Jean then worked an additional 9 years at Orscheln’s in Hutchinson. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jean’s family meant everything to her. She loved shopping and buying things for others and had a weakness for shoes and purses.

Jean is survived by: her daughter, Kim Bontrager (Jay) of Pretty Prairie; grandchildren, Tyler Engle (Nicole) of Pearland, TX, Amy Piggee (Willie), of Fort Smith, AR; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Chloe, Nevaeh, Gavin, Emery; and several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Frances Taylor; brother, Larry Rollins; and son, Mike Keeler (who died of Huntington’s Disease and Jean was his caregiver for 27 years).

Jamalee Skelton (Jamie Plank) was born October 21, 1948, in San Francisco, CA, the first child of Cody Leroy and Marcella Mae Gulick.&nbsp; After Jamalee’s sisters Coleen and Micki were born, Marcella moved the family from California to the Kansas City area.&nbsp; There, Jamie spent her formative years, attending Wyandott Co. High School, followed by beauty school. In 1966, Jamalee married Timmy Herman, and the couple had two daughters together, Jenny Dorsey and Jill Sink (Sean).&nbsp; When Jill was a newborn, Tim and Jamie moved back to Lost Springs, Kansas.

After Jamie and Tim’s marriage ended, Jamie married Arvid Virgil “A.V.” Plank in September 1982.&nbsp; From their marriage grew a beautiful and loving blended family that included A.V.’s two sons, A.V. Plank Jr. and Todd Plank; Jenny’s and Jill’s half-sisters, Jodi Gregory and Toni Delgadillo; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Jamie’s life was one of service; from her work as a day care provider, to her career as a hairdresser, to her career working for the State of Kansas.&nbsp; Even her choice to major in social work, when she attended college at Bethany College at the age of 52, evidenced her generous spirit.&nbsp; In retirement, Jamie continued serving others as a volunteer at Herington Hospital,&nbsp;&nbsp;delivering Meals on Wheels, and working with Hope Community Project Committee, she also was on the board for Herington Hospital Auxiliary, among other things.&nbsp; She was the center of her family and kept everyone grounded, involved, included, and informed.&nbsp; Above all, she ensured that everyone she loved felt it unconditionally.

Jamie and her family were surrounded in love when she took her last breath on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Salina Regional Health Center.&nbsp; Her parents, her sisters, and her half-brother, Greg Skelton, preceded her in death.&nbsp; She is survived by her beloved husband, A.V., canine companion, Keno, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and half-sister, Leasa Kosier.&nbsp; Jamie’s spirit remains in each person touched by the love, respect, and kindness she gave.

Marcia Kaye (Hiebert) Goentzel, 76, of Valley Center, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, finally succumbing to an infection after having won the battle with so many over her years. She was surrounded by loving family and friends.

Marcia was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 9, 1945, to Lando and Katherine (Nickel) Hiebert. She was raised with an older brother, Rolyn (Rolly), and younger sister, Ruth, in Hillsboro, Kansas. She met James Goentzel at a PTA meeting, as Marcia’s mother taught in his Lehigh school district. They were married on May 30, 1964, in Hillsboro, Kansas. They made their home in Wichita, Kansas, but travelled and lived in numerous communities from Colorado to Tennessee while Jim was building Pizza Huts. Later in life they moved to a home in Valley Center where Jim still resides. Marcia has considered Oxford Grand Assisted Living in Wichita her home for the past several years. She loved to travel, especially with Jim and her family, whether to a special spot in Kansas or to an international city, and she made the most of each opportunity even when mobility was difficult.

Marcia attended Tabor College where accounting courses came naturally. She became adept at using mainframe computers to track numbers in early positions at Garvey Grain and Love Box Company. Marcia then had a meaningful role with the Olive W. Garvey Center for the Improvement of Human Functioning. She also joined Jim in the construction business. Jim managed the jobs and Marcia developed a comprehensive job costing method to support a series of family-owned construction companies in Wichita – Custom Care Builders, Classic Builders, and Jim Goentzel Construction. With the rise of personal computers, Marcia became skilled at implementing and supporting various software systems. She established MKG Systems in 1985 to formally engage clients and later co-founded Professional Software, Inc, which won awards for support excellence. In addition, she developed a robust accounting system to support several investment companies founded with close colleagues, having names like P&amp;F (standing for Profit &amp; Fun). Marcia also served the construction sector as President of the Wichita Area Builders Auxiliary.

Marcia joyfully pursued many other areas of interest. An active swimmer, she served for several years as a swimming instructor with the YMCA. Later in life she proudly taught her grandchildren how to swim. As an artist, Marcia frequently created personal sketches and paintings while importantly noting the time and location for the moment of inspiration. She loved sewing and many creative arts, and she frequented fabric and crafts stores over the years in pursuit of quilting fabric, beads for jewelry-making, flowers for a new arrangement, holiday decorations to liven up a shared space, and, of course, the perfect hot glue gun. She was particularly interested in creating themed decorations and arranging flowers with showcases starting at home, expanding to model homes, and concluding at Oxford Grand Assisted Living where she was designated Decorating Diva. Later in life Marcia curated her favorite art pieces and pictures of decorated rooms with meaningful notes as to why each was special.

Marcia served in a variety of roles in her faith communities. At the First Mennonite Brethren Church (now Ridgepoint Church), where she was a member, she led memorable Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes over the years. She served on the Building Committee when the church moved from 1750 N. Gow to 8000 W. 21st. She helped to stage church dramas and incorporate dramatic readings in worship services. Bible Study Fellowship was an integral part of Marcia’s faith journey. Later in life she cherished the opportunity to regularly give sermons for the Community Church at Oxford Grand Assisted Living.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents, Lando and Katherine Hiebert; her stepfather Aaron Becker; her brother Rolyn Hiebert; Jim’s parents Clarence and Bertha Goentzel; Jim’s brothers Quint and Howard Goentzel; and son-in-law Mark Godbold.

Those left to cherish Marcia’s memory include her husband of 58 years, Jim Goentzel; son Jarrod Goentzel and his wife Laura VanderHart; daughter Melonie Godbold; grandchildren Hallie Godbold, Ian Goentzel, Tysen Godbold, and Samuel Goentzel; sister Ruth Hiebert Dick and her husband Steve; sister-in-law Sue Hiebert, stepbrothers Wilbert and Arlowe Becker, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

There will be an opportunity to visit with family and friends at Ridgepoint Church (8000 W. 21st St, Wichita, KS 67205) on Sunday, June 12, from 5-7pm. The funeral/memorial service will be held at the same location on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11am, with lunch following the service.

Marcia Kaye (Hiebert) Goentzel, 76, of Valley Center, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, finally succumbing to an infection after having won the battle with so many over her years. She was surrounded by loving family and friends.Marcia was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 9, 1945, to Lando and Katherine (Nickel) Hiebert. She was raised with an older brother, Rolyn (Rolly), and younger sister, Ruth, in Hillsboro, Kansas. She met James Goentzel at a PTA meeting, as Marcia’s mother taught in his Lehigh school district. They were married on May 30, 1964, in Hillsboro, Kansas. They made their home in Wichita, Kansas, but travelled and lived in numerous communities from Colorado to Tennessee while Jim was building Pizza Huts. Later in life they moved to a home in Valley Center where Jim still resides. Marcia has considered Oxford Grand Assisted Living in Wichita her home for the past several years. She loved to travel, especially with Jim and her family, whether to a special spot in Kansas or to an international city, and she made the most of each opportunity even when mobility was difficult.Marcia attended Tabor College where accounting courses came naturally. She became adept at using mainframe computers to track numbers in early positions at Garvey Grain and Love Box Company. Marcia then had a meaningful role with the Olive W. Garvey Center for the Improvement of Human Functioning. She also joined Jim in the construction business. Jim managed the jobs and Marcia developed a comprehensive job costing method to support a series of family-owned construction companies in Wichita – Custom Care Builders, Classic Builders, and Jim Goentzel Construction. With the rise of personal computers, Marcia became skilled at implementing and supporting various software systems. She established MKG Systems in 1985 to formally engage clients and later co-founded Professional Software, Inc, which won awards for support excellence. In addition, she developed a robust accounting system to support several investment companies founded with close colleagues, having names like P&amp;F (standing for Profit &amp; Fun). Marcia also served the construction sector as President of the Wichita Area Builders Auxiliary.Marcia joyfully pursued many other areas of interest. An active swimmer, she served for several years as a swimming instructor with the YMCA. Later in life she proudly taught her grandchildren how to swim. As an artist, Marcia frequently created personal sketches and paintings while importantly noting the time and location for the moment of inspiration. She loved sewing and many creative arts, and she frequented fabric and crafts stores over the years in pursuit of quilting fabric, beads for jewelry-making, flowers for a new arrangement, holiday decorations to liven up a shared space, and, of course, the perfect hot glue gun. She was particularly interested in creating themed decorations and arranging flowers with showcases starting at home, expanding to model homes, and concluding at Oxford Grand Assisted Living where she was designated Decorating Diva. Later in life Marcia curated her favorite art pieces and pictures of decorated rooms with meaningful notes as to why each was special.Marcia served in a variety of roles in her faith communities. At the First Mennonite Brethren Church (now Ridgepoint Church), where she was a member, she led memorable Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes over the years. She served on the Building Committee when the church moved from 1750 N. Gow to 8000 W. 21st. She helped to stage church dramas and incorporate dramatic readings in worship services. Bible Study Fellowship was an integral part of Marcia’s faith journey.
