Patricia Ann “Pat” Hopengardner, 88, died July 5, 2022, at Hospice House. She was born May 22, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Clarence A. and Questa F. (Smith) Miller.

Pat graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952. She was a co-owner, with her husband Jim, of Central Glass and Window Treatments. Pat was also a real estate agent and worked at the Kansas State Fair supervising the Girl Scout Department and later the outdoor concessions. She volunteered for the Red Cross Blood drives, for Hospice of Reno County, for First Presbyterian Church and she worked the Reno County election sites. Pat was very active, playing softball into her 60’s, running, enjoyed water-skiing, snow skiing, riding motorcycles, and square dancing. She went sky-diving with her husband Jim on his 60th birthday. Pat was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School.

On June 22, 1952, Pat married James C. “Jim” Hopengardner, in Hutchinson. He died May 10, 2018.

She is survived by: her children, Lynn Harris Kucharo and husband Larry, Mark Hopengardner and wife Kim, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jamie Taylor and husband Straun, Clint Harris and wife Ashleigh; great-grandchildren, Creede Taylor, Carter Harris, and Dahlia Harris.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Wyer.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
