Joyce Dalke, 84, of Hesston, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Pine Village in Moundridge.  She was born May 24, 1938 in Newton, the daughter of Willie and Amanda (Bartel) Voran.

She was baptized at and was a member of the Garden Community Church, where she played organ and piano, and taught Sunday school.

Joyce graduated from Hesston Academy with the class of 1956.  She later graduated from Hesston College with an associate of arts degree.  In 1972, Joyce graduated from McPherson College with a bachelor's degree in education.

In 1958, Joyce worked as a teacher at South Garden School.  She later began teaching music at Hesston Elementary School where she taught for 36 years and substitute taught for an additional 10 years.

Joyce was united in marriage to Edward Dalke on June 20, 1958.  They had three children from this union: Ileen, Allen and Janell.  They celebrated 64 years of marriage and Ed survives of their home.

Other survivors include her daughters, Ileen Miller of Oceanside, CA, and Janell (Ray) Zuercher of Olathe; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Wohlgemuth of Hesston, and Betty (Alvin) Smucker of East Lansing, MI; and sister-in-law, Kathy (Voran) Nabinger of Palmer, AK.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; son, Allen Dalke; brother, Richard Voran; and brother-in-law, Howard Wohlgemuth.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2022, at Garden Community Church, rural Moundridge.  The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/gardencommunitychurch. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 7, at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
