Roger Lee Moffett, 83, of South Hutchinson, died June 30, 2022, at his home. He was born June 1, 1939, in Chico, CA, to Leander J. and Veva I. (Boydston) Moffett.

After graduating from high school, Roger served in the United States Air Force from 1958-1962 and then in the United States Naval Reserves. He worked in law enforcement for the city of South Hutchinson and the Reno County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 40 years before retiring. Roger was a motorcycle enthusiast and also had a pilot’s license and owned his own plane. He enjoyed model railroading and was a founding member of KCMR. Roger also enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and birdwatching. He was of the Baptist faith.

On December 22, 2006, Roger married Michelle J. “Mitzy” (DuCharme (Simons) in Haven. She survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Michael Moffett and wife Diana of Cleveland, TX, Steven Moffett of Hutchinson, Lisa Proffitt and husband Josh of Haven; five grandsons; sister-in-law, Peggy Moffett of Hutchinson; his beloved Pug, “Lily Rose”; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son Roger Moffett Jr., and a brother, Larry Moffett.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Laurel Cemetery, 5395 E Greenfield Rd, Haven. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
