Winnifred Iverson Rom Thompson, 98, passed on February 6, 2025, at Hester Care Center- Wesley Towers. &nbsp;She was born July 30, 1926, to William and Cora (Johnson) Iverson in Pinewood, MN.

Winnie graduated from Bemidji (MN) High School and earned her Bachelor of Teaching from Bemidji State Teachers College. &nbsp;She taught junior high math and science.On March 1, 1947, she married Wayne F rank Rom. They had three daughters- Gloria, Valerie and Julie. &nbsp;She later married Darrel Wayne Thompson. &nbsp;He passed December 4, 2019.Winnie loved to travel and to read biographies. &nbsp;After moving to Arizona, she loved hiking the desert with friends and playing Scrabble and cards. &nbsp;Her baking skills were admired. &nbsp;Her hot buns were famous.

Winnie is survived by: her: daughters, Gloria (Bobhusband) Rom of Los Angeles, Val (Doug) Rom-Hawkins and Julie (Ron) Rom Rom-Kocienski of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Austin Justin and Marta Johnson; step-sons, Roger, Bruce and Siyd; and step-grandchildren, Alanna, Tim, and Dale.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her: parents and siblings, Alice, Fran, Artie, Vernon, Willard, Clayton, and Helen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm on Monday February 10, 2025, at Wesley Towers Evans Chapel- 3709 Asbury Pl, Hutchinson, KS &nbsp;67502. &nbsp;Friends may sign the book from 9a-5pm Saturday and Sunday and 9a-1pm Monday.

Pastor Onie Lee Cooper was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 6, 2025. She was 94. &nbsp;Onie was born November 27, 1930, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Abraham “Toby” and Leona (Hofer) Entz.&nbsp;

Onie lived her whole life in Hutchinson. She married Harold Cooper and together they raised Michael, Preston “Pat” and Kathleen “Kathy”. &nbsp;

Onie worked at the Christian Supply Store, which helped feed her love of reading about all things Jesus. Her collection of books is enormous! Onie accepted the Lord as her savior as a small child and followed Him her whole life. She served Him in children’s ministry through the Good News Clubs and in church. As an adult, Onie served the Lord by becoming a pastor and leading the Community Church of God here in Hutchinson. Not only did she serve in church, she served within the community. For many years, Onie volunteered at the Hutchinson Cosmosphere and was able to share her love for science and space exploration. She was also a Chaplain at Hutchinson Hospital and able to share her love of Jesus with the sick and their families. Onie then felt a call to counsel and marry inmates at the Hutchinson Reformatory. She led many to find the Lord and married more than 80 inmates.&nbsp;

Onie was preceded in death by: her husband, Harold; her parents; sister, Donnas; brother, Jim; and her daughter, Kathy.&nbsp;

She leaves behind Mike (Carolyn) from Saint Joseph, Missouri, Pat (Vickie) from Hutchinson; son-in-law, Daryl Miller of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Stu Entz (Eleanor) and Lin Entz (Pat).

Onie blessed many with her gifts of music, playing the piano, accordion, organ and violin. &nbsp;She always enjoyed a good game of dominoes with family and friends. Onie belonged to an accordion ensemble, the local quilting guild and Young at Hearts. She stayed busy and touched many lives. Onie certainly will be missed by her family and friends.&nbsp;

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Norman Bruce Crum, 83, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler, KS. He was born September 8, 1941, in Holly, Colorado to William “Bill” Crum and Helen Jewell Blackwill.

&nbsp;Bruce married Roberta Rhodes on September 9, 1959. They were married 65 years before Roberta passed away on November 22, 2024. In his early years, Bruce traveled with his Uncle Elmo building Co-op metal buildings in Oklahoma and Kansas. Bruce also worked at Farmland and WIFCO for many years in the maintenance department. He was a great mechanic and all around handyman. If it was broken, Bruce would always find a way to fix it or repurpose it in another project. He loved to attend auctions and would never pass up a good garage sale. He was an avid gardener, and his wine was enjoyed by many family members.

Bruce was preceded in death by his wife Roberta, son Norman Crum, daughter Julia Moll, his parents, Bill and Helen, and brothers, Junior and Vernon.

He is survived by his son Larry Crum of Holly, CO, sister in law Cathy Bailey of Palmer, TX, as well as 10 grandchildren and their spouses: CB Crum, Jason Gulley, Jarmey Gulley, Jarid Gulley, Aaron Crum, Kathleen Crum, Richie Crum, Holly Crum, Kevin Moll, and Corey Moll; 18 great-grandchildren: Amber, Kaylee, Bradon, Athena, Nicholas, Audrey, Harley, Megan, Lealand, Rosey, Remington, Marissa, Marks, Nolan, Trinity, Cambrie, Callie, and Cayden; one great-great grandchild, Kannon, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends. He will be missed by many.

The family extends great appreciation to Bonnie “Soupy” Sue Bribiesca, his loving niece for all the loving care she has provided over the years and to the staff and fellow residents at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community.

Freddie Gene “Jean” Bohnstedt, 97, passed peacefully on February 2, 2025, surrounded by her family in Hutchinson. Jean was born on June 8, 1927, in Shawnee, OK, to Archie Elmer and Florence Ann (Padgett) Cole.

In 1947, Jean married William H Kendall. They were blessed with two sons, William H. Kendall II and Randall L. Kendall. In 1968, she married Charles E. Bohnstedt. They were married 38 years before his passing in 2006. Jean had a passion for genealogy, spending many hours researching and documenting family history. She loved sharing stories about ancestors and connecting with relatives near and far. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In her earlier years, she owned and operated three drive-in restaurants in the Junction City and Manhattan, KS, areas.

Jean is survived by her two sons; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Jean will be remembered for her warm smile, dignified grace, love of family and kind demeanor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Ronald Herbert McBride, 68, passed away on January 27, 2025, in Hutchinson, KS. He was born on November 27,1956, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Herbert and Ione (Bartlett) McBride.

Ron graduated from Nickerson High School in 1975. He worked for Sonoco Hutchinson Paper Mill for over 45 years and retired in 2023. Ron was part of the Union Paper Makers #1350 and the Steel Makers # 1350 Union. He was a member of the Hutchinson Water Sports Club.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Linda Powell and a grandson, Zacheriah Anderson.

He is survived by his daughters, Tiffanie (Duncan) Duncan and Renea (Doug) Anderson; a son, James (Hannah Hildreth) McBride; sisters, Debra McBride-Brown, Jacque (Randy) Halloway; seven grandchildren, Zane Clune, Avery Kellogg, Nova Laughlin, Lucas, Jacob, Tobias, and Matthew Anderson; and one great grandchild, Hayden Kellogg.

James Lee Hearn passed peacefully in his sleep on January 22, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society Hutchinson Village. Born March 3, 1959 in Kingman, Kansas. He was a son, brother, father, and a veteran. He was proud of his service in the U.S. Army as a tank mechanic. He also worked as a tree arborist with his father and then like his father a truck driver. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Lee Hearn and his mother, Wilhelmina (Willie) Hearn of Great Bend. James leaves behind a son, Jaime Lee Hearn of Coalinga, California; his brother John Edward Hearn (Cindy) of El Dorado, Kansas; his sister Jeanette Marie Bowen (Tommy) of Ridgeway South, Carolina; and his sister Judith Anne Schick (Rob) of Lebo, Kansas; as well as several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews.

James will always be remembered as one who loved to work with his hands, do word searches, play games, pull pranks on others. and bring joy to those around him. His generous and caring nature will not be forgotten. May he rest in peace, experience the forgiveness and love that are awaiting him in the Savior’s arms. 

A memorial service will be held February 13, 2025 at 1:00PM at Old Mission Heritage.

James Lee Hearn  |1959-2025|

Deanna D (Schell) Meyer, 85, died of natural causes on January 15, 2025. She was born December 18, 1939 in Marysville, KS. She began her childhood in Marysville, then moved to many small towns in Oklahoma since her stepfather was a salesman. They eventually settled in Wichita, KS where she attended All Saints Grade School and graduated in 1957 from St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Dee was married to Jim Meyer at age 21 and had two children, Kevin and Kelley. When they divorced, she married Bill Mason and the family moved to Buhler, KS. She eventually became a member of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church and continued to reside in Buhler until she joined Jesus in Heaven.

Dee was quite diversified in her workplace skills. She did data entry at Southwestern Bell telephone company, Wesley Hospital, Boeing Computer Services and Wichita State University, retouched photos for Friesen Photography, worked for American Cab Company, drove the St. Francis Mobile Mammogram Van, and represented the SWEP program at American Red Cross. She also owned a day care, sold real estate and opened her own floral business called “Dee’s Designs.”

In Wichita, she was a 30-year member of the Sigma Phi Gamma philanthropic sorority. Locally, she volunteered at Central Christian School, Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, and Grand Staff Thrift Boutique.

Dee loved being with her family. Some of her greatest joys included spending time with her grandchildren, Layne and Kaitlyn. Being able to live long enough to love on her great-grandchildren was a dream come true for her. She also valued time spent with her parents, children, brothers, sisters-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephew, and cousins.

Her interests included decorating, jewelry making, flower arranging, picture framing, candle making, landscaping, and roaming the country collecting rocks and weeds. She was always in search of a garage sale, flea market, estate sale, or thrift store. Her mission in life was not only to pick up bargains for herself, but for others as well - this was her act of service and love language. It truly made her heart happy to share these secondhand gifts and it silently said, “I was thinking of you.”

Dee is survived by: son Kevin Meyer with wife Teresa of Shawnee, KS; daughter Kelley Pankratz with husband Lee of Hutchinson, KS; grandson Layne Pankratz with wife Rachael and great-grandson Finnan of Plevna, KS; granddaughter Kaitlyn Roth with husband Colton and great-granddaughter Eliza of Sterling, KS; brother Dennis Schell and fiancé Pam Carpenter of Marysville, KS; brother (Butch) John Schell and wife Caryl of Centralia, KS; and brother Jan Schell of Marysville, KS.

She was preceded in death by: father John J. Schell; mother Helen (Koch) Borchardt; stepfather Robert O. Borchardt; sister-in-law Wilma (Gerdes) Schell; stepbrother Bobby Borchardt; twin nieces Leslie and Laurie Schell; and nephew Jon Schell.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church, 415 N. West St., Buhler, KS. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Bobbie Thomas Brandon on April 14, 1973. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2000.&nbsp;

She was a devoted homemaker. Elizabeth worked at Pleasant View Home for 25 years as a housekeeper.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Shannon) Brandon of Buhler; and Shari Lamb of Salina; sister, Janice (Robert) Shain of Buhler; brother, Jerry (Clarene) Olson of Hutchinson; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Tami Carson.

Jane R. Beall, 83, of McPherson, KS passed away on February 1, 2025 in the company of her daughters in Hillsboro, KS.

Jane Rosalie (Williams) Beall, daughter of Forrest and Alta Williams, was born January 20, 1942 in Warrensburg, MO. She was raised on a farm near Concordia, MO. She attended Concordia, MO schools, and with her family, was part of the Zion Hill Methodist Church. She gave her life to Christ and was a participant in Youth for Christ. After high school graduation, Jane attended Asbury College in Wilmore, KY where she graduated in 1963 with a BA in sociology and psychology.

There she met her husband, Rev. Dallas Beall, and they were married July 20, 1963. He preceded her in death in 2014.

&nbsp; The young couple established their first home in Waldorf, MD. As the ministry continued, they lived in various homes in Maryland, Virginia and finally in Kansas. Jane supported her husband and took care of the home and their two daughters, Julie and Emily.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Jane also worked various jobs including Random House Publishing in MD, Rochester Corp in Virginia and in the district court in Salisbury, MD. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother and friend. Jane loved truth and justice and leaned towards those topics in her vast reading. She loved keeping up with the news from around the world, as well as following politics. She usually had something planted each spring whether it was vegetables or flowers or both and loved to do her yard work while she was able. Anyone who has played a game with her knows of her competitive nature and love of winning, whether it was on the church volleyball team or in a game of Pitt. Her latest game was Code Names, in which she loved to challenge her grandchildren.&nbsp;

Jane is survived by her daughters; Julie Cox and her husband Ross, and Emily Mendez and her husband Roberto, all of McPherson; her seven grandchildren, Seth, Luke and Joseph Cox, Amber, Natalia, Tito and Hunter Mendez; one great-granddaughter, Addie Stiles; a brother, sisters-in-law, brothers-in law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home in McPherson, KS on February 11 from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be at the Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home on February 12 at 10:30am with Rev. Jerry Beall officiating. Final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery beside her husband.

Vicki Marie Wineland, 81, died peacefully in her sleep February 2, 2025, at her home. She was born April 2, 1943, in Osborne County, Kansas, to Vinton and Dulcie (Smith) Lane.

Vicki graduated from Osborne High School in 1961 and Sidney’s Hairdressing College in 1962. A dedicated and talented hairstylist, she opened Vic’s Beauty Shop, where she cared for her clients with skill and kindness for over 50 years. Vicki found joy in gardening and took great pride in decorating for special occasions at church. She was a devoted leader in Reno County 4-H, Sandhill Saddle Club, 10th Avenue United Methodist Church, and Union Valley Bible Church. Above all, she cherished time spent with family and friends and lived each day with unwavering faith, love, and dedication.

On August 12, 1962, Vicki married Edward “Ed” W. Wineland, in Osborne. They shared over 62 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: her daughter, Shelli Wineland (Doug Dalton) of Cincinnati, OH; grandson, William Wineland Dalton, of Cincinnati, OH; granddaughter, Barbara Bentley Dalton, of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Sherrie Bohlen of Hutchinson; Janet Flegg of Wichita; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Candace Wineland; brothers-in-law, Dean Bohlen and Peter Flegg.

Ryan graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 2017. He was a loving father who doted on his daughter and his wife-to-be. Ryan had an infectious spirit, loved with all his heart, and always had a smile for everyone. He was an avid University of Kansas fan, “Go KU.” Ryan enjoyed fishing, camping, and working for his uncle Steve. He was a loyal Tom Brady fan and loved playing pool with his aunt Mickey.&nbsp;

Ryan is survived by: his wife-to-be, Amanda Furtaw of Hutchinson; daughter, Jocelyn Currie of Hutchinson; his mother, PJ Blackburn and step-father, Chad Feezor of Hutchinson; his father, Guy Currie of Missouri; and his siblings, Chelsey (Troy) Neitzel of Arizona, Marcy and Matthew Currie of Hutchinson; his aunt, Mickey (Steve) Blackburn of Hutchinson; his uncles, Jimmy and Larry Aston of Hutchinson; his cousins, Ashley, Kelsie, Preston, Zac, Dallas, Rickey, Bobbie, Victoria, Daniel and Andrew, all of Hutchinson. Loretto graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, KS, in 1956, attended Washburn University, and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Stormont Vail School of Nursing in 1959. &nbsp;She worked as a registered nurse and a lab technician. Loretto enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds, and sewing. &nbsp;First and foremost, faith and family were Loretto’s number one priority. &nbsp;She taught children’s Sunday School for over 40 years and was currently a member of Bethany Church of the Nazarene. &nbsp;Loretto was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

On November 22, 1959, she married Walter “Penn” Morton, in Lincoln, KS. &nbsp;

Darrel D. “Dee” Witham, 72, of South Hutchinson, died January 30, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at his residence. He was born March 7, 1952, in Topeka, the only son of Darrel and Margaret (Cohorst) Witham.&nbsp;

Dee earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Kansas State University in 1974 and worked as a computer programmer at Professional Data Services and John Deere for over 20 years each. He was proud member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Dee loved his alma mater and enjoyed watching K-State football. He enjoyed fishing, watching hockey, bull riding, PBR events, auto races and spending time with his friends and family. Dee and Michelle tried to hit every bull riding event they could since he also tried to ride a few bulls in his younger years. Dee had a special spot in his heart for his tuxedo cat, Princess, who will miss him greatly.&nbsp;

On December 13, 2014, he married Michelle Bogner in Las Vegas. They shared 10 beautiful years of marriage before his death.&nbsp;

Dee is survived by: wife, Michelle Witham, South Hutchinson; children, Dr. Cole Witham, Pearland, TX, Dr. Rachel (Kyle) Witham-Kaufman, Manhattan, KS, Mindy (John) Massey, Overland Park; granddaughter, Alauna Massey, Overland Park; sister, Ann (Gary) Blosser, Carbondale; niece, Dr. Jennifer Kerns; nephew, John Blosser; Denise Witham, mother of Cole and Rachel; and beloved grand-dog, Finn.&nbsp;

He was born March 7, 1952, in Topeka, the only son of Darrel and Margaret (Cohorst) Witham.&nbsp;Dee earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Kansas State University in 1974 and worked as a computer programmer at Professional Data Services and John Deere for over 20 years each. He was proud member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Dee loved his alma mater and enjoyed watching K-State football. He enjoyed fishing, watching hockey, bull riding, PBR events, auto races and spending time with his friends and family. Dee and Michelle tried to hit every bull riding event they could since he also tried to ride a few bulls in his younger years. Dee had a special spot in his heart for his tuxedo cat, Princess, who will miss him greatly.&nbsp;On December 13, 2014, he married Michelle Bogner in Las Vegas. They shared 10 beautiful years of marriage before his death.&nbsp;Dee is survived by: wife, Michelle Witham, South Hutchinson; children, Dr. Cole Witham, Pearland, TX, Dr. Rachel (Kyle) Witham-Kaufman, Manhattan, KS, Mindy (John) Massey, Overland Park; granddaughter, Alauna Massey, Overland Park; sister, Ann (Gary) Blosser, Carbondale; niece, Dr. Jennifer Kerns; nephew, John Blosser; Denise Witham, mother of Cole and Rachel; and beloved grand-dog, Finn.&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Dan Price officiating. &nbsp;Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka with details to come later. On June 6, 1986 he married Michelle J. Barnes of Hutchinson Kansas. &nbsp;They were blessed with two sons, Matthew Scott (Maria), Kansas City, Missouri and Corey Scott, Wichita Kansas and two dear grandchildren, Matthew Scott and Ana Scott. They survive.

Other survivors include sisters, Nan Hawver (Jerry), Hutchinson, Kansas and Laura Harrell (Jim), Sardis, Mississippi, sister-in-law Tammy Gough (Bill), and brother-in-law, Bill Barnes, many cousins, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. &nbsp;Also, many friends that became family.&nbsp;

He was a member of Thomas Hopkins Post 4 Sons of American Legion and the American Legion Riders and loved to support veterans in any way possible. &nbsp;

Barbara Ann Gagnebin, 92, of Plevna, died January 30, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. &nbsp;She was born September 19, 1932, in Abbyville, to Wayne and Mildred (Waddle) Dunn. &nbsp;

Barbara graduated from Abbyville High School. &nbsp;She worked over 30 years for the United States Postal Service in both Plevna and Hutchinson, retiring as a postmaster. &nbsp;Barbara enjoyed watching all sports, but had a fondness for baseball. &nbsp;She and her husband, Merle, watched a major league baseball game in every Major League Baseball ballpark. &nbsp;Above all, Barbara cherished her two grandsons, Devin and Jarod; they were everything to her. Barbara was a proud grandmother, attending all their events and cheering them on, especially when they played football and baseball. &nbsp;She was a member of Plevna Community Bible Church.&nbsp;

On March 31, 1953, she married Merle Dean Gagnebin, in Lyons. &nbsp;He died May 3, 2013, after sharing 60 years of marriage.

Barbara is survived by: &nbsp;son, Rock Gagnebin (Toni); grandsons, Devin Gagnebin (Jorden) and Jarod Gagnebin (Maddie); great-granddaughter, Pepper Gagnebin, all of Hutchinson; sister, Ruth Carter (Jim); Gary Dunn (Kathy); and brother-in-law, Dale Gagnebin (Diane), all of Abbyville.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; husband, Merle; brother, Kenneth Dunn (Betty); and sister-in-law, June Ramsey (Jim).

Allen D. Forkell, Sr., aged 71, peacefully passed away at Hospice House in Hutchinson on January 31, 2025. Born on December 21, 1953, to Louis F. and Arlene L. (Westgate) Forkell, Allen lived a life marked by dedication and service.

Allen proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 12 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. His commitment to public service continued as a Deputy for the Reno County Sheriff Department and later as a mail sorter for the Hutchinson Post Office, where he retired.

A fervent fan of the Denver Broncos, Allen found joy in cheering for his favorite team. His hobbies included shooting and an avid interest in sci-fi, where he spent countless hours watching the Sci-Fi Channel and movies. Allen's patriotism was evident through his unwavering support for the United States Army and his membership in the National Rifle Association (NRA).

On June 30, 1971, Allen married Rosalie “Rose” Vigil in Colorado Springs, CO. Their union was blessed with over 53 years of love and companionship until her passing on November 3, 2024.

Allen leaves behind a loving family: his children, Allen (Amy) Forkell, Jr. of DeKalb, IL, and Lisa Marie Forkell of Mississippi; his grandchildren, Allie Forkell of Manassas, VA, Peyton Brand and Katie McCullers, both of Hutchinson, Dylan Forkell of Inman, and Nick Stanky and Jason Stanky, both of Mississippi; as well as 10 cherished great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, his brother Tom, and his sister Linda.

Honoring Allen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held.

Melvin Floyd Yoder, 101, passed away on January 30, 2025, at Mennonite Friendship Communities South Hutchinson, KS. He was born January 5, 1924, in Yoder, KS, the son of Enos S. and Lydiann (Bontrager) Yoder.

Melvin graduated from Haven High School in 1943. &nbsp;He worked at the former Detroiter Mobile Home Manufacturing Co. and farmed. &nbsp; He retired in 1991. &nbsp;Melvin married Viola “Vicky” M. Landes on October 12, 1947, in Nickerson, KS. &nbsp;They were married for 64 years before her passing in 2011. &nbsp;Melvin grew up in the Yoder and Reno County area. &nbsp;In 1952, Melvin and Vicky moved to Walker, MO for five years and then moved back to the Hutchinson area for 32 years. &nbsp;In 1989, they moved to Bella Vista, AR for eight years and then moved back to Reno County. Melvin and Vicky enjoyed traveling and he enjoyed spending his free time fishing. &nbsp;He was a member of Journey Mennonite Church and the South Hutchinson Lyons Club.

Survivors include four sons, Michael (Kay) Yoder, Hutchinson, Robert L. Yoder, Hutchinson, Ron (Sharon) Yoder, Hutchinson, and Jay (Lisa) Yoder, Partridge; eight grandchildren, Bryan Yoder, Darin Yoder, Jake Justice, Jesse Yoder, Jason Yoder, Tonya Vento, Tara Little, and Lacey Yoder; &nbsp;eight great grandchildren, Eli Yoder, Lydia Yoder, Vitaliy Stubbs, Ellie Todd, Ian Stubbs, Makayla Little, Makenzie Little, Landes Little; three great- great grandchildren with two on the way.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vicky; siblings, Sylvia Miller, Mary Kauffman, Homer Yoder, Elnora Cake and Doris Simpson.

Marvel Elvira Huskinson, 106, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 3, 2025, she died peacefully in her home. Born July 1, 1918, in Wisconsin. Marvel was the fourth of nine children born to the late Albert and Lillie (Griesse) Kostman.

Marvel grew up on the family farm. She had many wonderful memories of living that life. The daily life of living with siblings, working with horses, and riding to the neighbors. During WWII she worked in a bomb factory where she painted bombs. She also had experience as a telephone operator for Cessna and working in a railroad yard. Marvel had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling.

In 1952, she married Bill Huskinson, he died in 1970. They had two daughters Karla McHenry of Hutchinson and Sandra Garver of Harrisburg, OR. She is survived by her two daughters, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Along with many nieces and nephews who she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, son-in-law and great granddaughter.

Visitation will take place from 1:00-3:00pm on Saturday February 8th at the First Christian Church Chapel 15 East 5th in Hutchinson, family will be present.

Marvel Huskinson |1918-2025|

Brenda Dee Wilson, 77, died January 29, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1947, in Aurora, IL, to David H. and Patricia (Koralek) Richardson.

Dee graduated from Nickerson High School in 1965 and Sidney’s Hairdressing College. She worked as a cosmetologist in addition to driving a school bus for Nickerson USD 309 for 10 years. Dee also worked as a secretary in the Community Corrections office in Hutchinson for many years until she retired.

Dee loved her family first and foremost, most importantly her grandchildren. She also loved to read, her flower garden (especially irises), and baking. Dee was also very community minded and volunteered at Christian Soup Ministry, Hospice House, Meals on Wheels, and the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center. She also served on the boards of the NAACP and the Emancipation Day committee.

On December 27, 1965, Dee married Larry V. Wilson in Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church. He survives.

Also surviving are: her children, Christine Wilson of Hutchinson, Patrick Wilson (Rosann) of Hutchinson, Sarah Wilson of Wichita; grandchildren, Matthew Palacios of Wichita, Chase Palacios (Emily) of Hutchinson, Laryssa Stahl (Nate) of Hutchinson, Remington Wilson and Josphine Wilson of Hutchinson; niece, Kelly Richardson-McEntire (James) of Lee’s Summit, MO; and sister-of-the-heart, Sally Wydick (David) of Nevada, MO.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, J. D. Richardson and his wife Linda; and nephew, Jon Richardson.

Celebration of Life will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Larry and Dee’s home, 3810 N. Wilson Rd., Hutchinson. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday, at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.

 </figure>Brenda Dee Wilson, 77, died January 29, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1947, in Aurora, IL, to David H. and Patricia (Koralek) Richardson.Dee graduated from Nickerson High School in 1965 and Sidney’s Hairdressing College. She worked as a cosmetologist in addition to driving a school bus for Nickerson USD 309 for 10 years. Dee also worked as a secretary in the Community Corrections office in Hutchinson for many years until she retired.Dee loved her family first and foremost, most importantly her grandchildren. She also loved to read, her flower garden (especially irises), and baking. Dee was also very community minded and volunteered at Christian Soup Ministry, Hospice House, Meals on Wheels, and the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center. She also served on the boards of the NAACP and the Emancipation Day committee.On December 27, 1965, Dee married Larry V. Wilson in Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church. He survives.Also surviving are: her children, Christine Wilson of Hutchinson, Patrick Wilson (Rosann) of Hutchinson, Sarah Wilson of Wichita; grandchildren, Matthew Palacios of Wichita, Chase Palacios (Emily) of Hutchinson, Laryssa Stahl (Nate) of Hutchinson, Remington Wilson and Josphine Wilson of Hutchinson; niece, Kelly Richardson-McEntire (James) of Lee’s Summit, MO; and sister-of-the-heart, Sally Wydick (David) of Nevada, MO.She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, J. D. Richardson and his wife Linda; and nephew, Jon Richardson.Celebration of Life will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Larry and Dee’s home, 3810 N. Wilson Rd., Hutchinson. Lucy Raigoza, 87, died January 28, 2025, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born August 25, 1937, in Hutchinson, to Delfino and Patrocinia (Juarez) Raya.

Lucy worked at the Dillons Bakery for many years before her retirement. &nbsp;Her faith and family were the most important aspects of her life. &nbsp;Lucy had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and instilled that faith in her family. &nbsp;She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. &nbsp;Lucy loved her family unconditionally and had a special bond with her grandchildren. She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. &nbsp;

On March 8, 1954, she married Robert J. Raigoza, in Hutchinson. &nbsp;He died September 29, 2014, after they shared 60 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Lucy is survived by: &nbsp;children, Rosetta Ybarra, Greg Raigoza (Kim), Elaine Luna (Richard), Angela Schroeder (Todd), Chris Raigoza (Linda), all of Hutchinson, Robert D. Raigoza of Wichita, and Wendy Morland (Brian) of Hutchinson; sisters, Carmen Tenorio (Alberto) of Hutchinson; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; siblings, Atilano, Bacilio, Paul, Mike, Benny, Isabel, Margaret, and Tita; great-granddaughter, Haley Barlow; and daughter-in-law, Gena Raigoza.&nbsp;

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Elliott Chapel. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Debora J. “Debbie” Zarnowski, 71, of Hutchinson, died January 28, 2025 at her residence. She was born July 10, 1953, in Hutchinson, to Thornton and Patricia (Wells) White.&nbsp;

Debbie was a lifelong Certified Nursing Assistant. Throughout her career, she worked at Welsey Towers, Sunshine Meadows, and Mennonite Friendship Communities. Debbie was a Girl Scout leader for over 20 years and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She had an appreciation for motorcycles and enjoyed self-expression through her carefully planned tattoos.&nbsp;

On March 21, 1980, she married Michael Zarnowski in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 45 years of marriage before her death.&nbsp;

Debbie is survived by: her husband, Michael of Hutchinson; daughters, Laci (Jeff) Heinlein of Nickerson and Patricia Zarnowski (James Fowler) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Mariah (Ethan) Morgan of Hutchinson and Piper and Addi Heinlein of Nickerson; sister, Marsha (Jimmy) Barnes of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Ty and Hoby White; and sons, Zachary and Thor Zarnowski.&nbsp;

Robert Carrol Mattox, 70, died January 24, 2025, at Hospice House- Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born September 5, 1954, in Hutchinson to Ermon Huffman and Mary Elizabeth (Barnes) Mattox.

Robert graduated from Hutchinson High School. &nbsp; He worked at Kuhn Krause before retiring.

On June 22, 2023, on the front porch of their home, he married Kimberly Norland. &nbsp;She survives.

Robert is survived by his: wife; children; siblings; and grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. &nbsp;A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.

After a life well lived, Arvilla M. “Arvy” Sampson, 96, formerly of Hutchinson, died on January 26, 2025, in Lawrence. She was born July 7, 1928, in Manhattan, Kansas.

Arvy enjoyed a childhood full of adventure and fun in Manhattan, Kansas, where her father was a professor at Kansas State University. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1946, then received her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Kansas State University in 1950. At K-State, Arvy was very active in a number of clubs and honor societies. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, selected by the Mortar Board National College Honor Society, and named in Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges, among others.

It was at K-State that Arvy met Jack Sampson, her husband of 73 years, at a college dance. The two fell in love and married May 28, 1950, the day they graduated from college. Jack’s career in broadcasting took their family to Hays, Kansas; Kansas City; Oklahoma City; St. Louis; then Hutchinson, when they purchased KSKU-FM and The Bee. Arvy was co-owner of Sampson Communications, which included three radio stations, a printing business and a shopper newspaper.

Arvy spent her life pursuing her many passions, chief among them her family. She volunteered expensively in her community and church, focusing on supporting under-resourced families and children. &nbsp;At Northminster Presbyterian Church, then later New Covenant Presbyterian Church, she held several leadership roles, including deacon and head of missions. Her work to support people in need also extended beyond her community. She and Jack traveled the United States doing builds for Habitat for Humanity. In Hutchinson, she was a member of P.E.O. Chapter BY.&nbsp;

Arvy loved to travel, garden, read, do arts and crafts, spend time in nature and be with friends and family.

All who knew Arvy were warmed by her kindness, generosity, wisdom, joy and optimism.&nbsp;

Arvy is survived by her children, Cristy Bilhorn (John) of St. Louis, MO, Jack Richard “Rick” Sampson (Rita) of Phoenix, AZ, Teri Heft (Gordon) of Kansas City, MO, and Melissa “Micki” Chestnut (Rob) of Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sampson, parents George Edwin and Pearl America (Moore) Johnson and her brother, Romaine Johnson.

Arvy’s Celebration of Life service at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson, will be announced at a later date. &nbsp;Private inurnment will take place in Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan.&nbsp;
