Cheryl A. Clapper, 66, passed away April 9, 2026, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Born to Maynard and Shirley (Slover) Mounce in Escondido, California on April 22, 1959.
She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1977. She took typing classes at Hutchinson Community College. She married Jim Clapper on July 7th, 1978. They had 3 kids together. Cheryl later became troop leader for Girl Scouts Troop 88 and Boy Scouts briefly. In her younger years she loved bowling and playing pool. She also loved going camping and soaking in the sun by the lake. She loved her kids and grandkids fiercely and that's where her focus was for the remainder of her life.
Cheryl is survived by her 3 children, Justin Clapper, Jason (Shalom) Clapper, and Jamie (Scott) Weast, and a significant other Mark “Butch” Holler. 5 grandchildren: Cara Clapper, Daisy Raburn, Jesse Clapper, Brecken Peters, and Brooklyn Clapper, and 1 great grandbaby on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 at 11:00AM at Old Mission - Heritage Funeral Home.
