HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarch game between the Monarchs and the Wichita Wildcats had to be suspended due to rain and lightning at 8:55pm Monday night with the Monarchs leading 3-1 in the bottom of the first inning with one out and runners at 1st and 3rd base. No date has been announced as to when this game will resume.

The Monarchs (12-3) will pay host to the Wichita Wildcats tonight at Hobart-Detter Field in Carey Park. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Hutchinson is slated for 19 home games this season, all of which will be streamed live on HutchPost.com and the MonarchsLive.tv channel. Glen Grunwald of Eagle Media will handle the play-by-play, with Matt Peterson on the video stream.

Timothy Marlon Fuller passed peacefully to his heavenly home at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. He was born to parents Clarabell Fuller and Tim Bradberry in St. Petersburg, FL.&nbsp; He became a Christian at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church July 27, 1980, in St. Petersburg at the age of 15. He graduated from Osceola High School in Osceola, FL after which he attended Hutchinson Community College and played football for the Dragons.&nbsp; Tim’s passions were family, children, grandchildren, sports and cooking.&nbsp;

Tim was the youngest child. He was preceded in death by both parents, brothers James, Robert, Jacob, and sister Charlotte Fuller.&nbsp; He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Terri Fuller, sons Jacob (Dajiah), Chris Lewis (Lindsay) and daughter Tessa Brook (Kris), brothers Jerome Fuller, Kenneth Wright, Horace Moore (Shawn), Ben Graham (Pamela), Terry Bradberry; Sisters Joann Payne (Henry), Betty Vasquez, Sandra Clark and six grandchildren.&nbsp;

Tim joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church many years ago where he became an ordained Deacon on August 14, 2022. He was a loyal member and an active part of the Male Chorus.&nbsp;

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1015 E. 7th in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; The service will begin at 10am, and will be televised on Facebook at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church-Hutchinson. Wilma L. “Brooke” (Bishop) Cole, departed this life on June 8, 2025. &nbsp;Following a difficult battle with Parkinson’s Disease, she died peacefully at home. &nbsp;Wilma was born on January 24, 1938, to Rose Mary (McGee) Bishop and William Howard Bishop, on their family farm outside of Tribune, Kansas. &nbsp;The second of seven children, she grew up knowing the hardships as well as the beauty of Western Kansas farm life during that time period: &nbsp;dust storms, drought, tornadoes, and failed crops; but also, &nbsp;beautiful sunsets on waving fields of wheat; horizons as far as you could see against piercing, blue summer skies; the peacefulness of grazing livestock; the success of a completed harvest; county fairs, neighbor helping neighbor and a one-room school house that kindled a great love of learning that she carried with her the rest of her life. &nbsp;Though she left the farm as a young woman, Wilma returned to it again and again as an adult and took her children there frequently through their childhood, so they could come to know the unique love of the place she called home. Until Parkinson’s Disease prevented travel, she returned to the family farm to gather with her siblings during the Christmas holidays every year. &nbsp;Though Wilma lived the entirety of her adult life in the city, her heart stayed tied to a small farm town in Western Kansas, all her days.

Upon graduating from Tribune High School, Wilma attended St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City and graduated with a degree in Nursing. &nbsp;From there she moved to Wichita and began her nursing career at St. Joseph Hospital. &nbsp; In 1959 she married Bill Kelley and began a family in Wichita. &nbsp;In 1966 the family moved to Hutchinson where Wilma and her husband owned and operated 3 restaurants until the late 70’s. &nbsp;After moving to Hutchinson, Wilma left her nursing career to be a stay-at-home mom, returning once the youngest was in high school. &nbsp;The second half of her nursing career Wilma spent teaching at Hutchinson Community College, working to create legislation that would improve the conditions of nursing homes in Kansas, and finally as Marketing Director for Mennonite Friendship Communities. &nbsp;

In 1992, Wilma married Larry Cole, of Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;The couple filled the following 30 plus years with travel, adventure, and a variety of real estate ventures. Their most notable achievement was their purchase of a 115-year-old Victorian era mansion, which they moved in sections to a mountainside lot in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. &nbsp;Over 3 years, they reassembled, restored, and turned what had been a broken, about-to-be-torn down, house into a showplace. &nbsp;Wilma’s creativity, ability to research historical architecture, and her eye for decorating helped create a magnificent residence. &nbsp;The home and the story of Wilma and Larry’s endeavor was featured in several regional and national travel magazines, and after their eventual conversion to an operating bed and breakfast, has appeared regularly on the Travel Chanel, highlighting places to stay in The Colorado Rockies ski resort towns.

In addition to her adventures with husband, Larry, Wilma’s greatest source of happiness was with her children and grandchildren. &nbsp;“Nana” was the thing Wilma loved to be called most. &nbsp;Her exceptional devotion to her grandchildren filled their lives with love and richness. They will deeply miss her but carry fond memories and traditions of her love.

Wilma was a life-long learner and excelled at everything she turned her hand to, whether it was nursing, teaching, cake decorating, gardening, ceramics, cooking, interior decorating--to name but a few. &nbsp;There was truly little that she was interested in that she did not find a way to learn about and enjoy. &nbsp;She loved theatre, music, art, travel, museums, sailing, and holidays. &nbsp;ALL HOLIDAYS. Wilma celebrated and decorated for every holiday, big and small, and Christmas was her favorite. &nbsp;The lives of her children and grandchildren will forever be filled with the holiday traditions she established for them, and that will live on for generations to come.

Wilma was a small person in stature, but she lived life in a very big way. &nbsp;Not big, in a showy or flashy way, but in an all-in, full-heart, arms-wide-open way. &nbsp;She loved and was loved, which is, perhaps the greatest testament to any life. &nbsp;She will be greatly missed and always remembered.

She is survived by those who miss her most: Husband, Larry Cole; her children, Laurie Kelley-Briggs, Douglas Kelley (Cindy), Eric Kelley (Mandy) and Gretchen Kelley; her Grandchildren: John Eric Kelley, Emma Kelley, Katelyn Kelley, Billy Briggs and Trey Cole; siblings: &nbsp;Homer Bishop, Faye LeBlanc (Dan), Maurine Pruitt, Jeanie Huddleston, and Gilbert Bishop. &nbsp;

Born Russell Allan Hilst on December 29, 1942, Rusty was a fixture on the Hutchinson scene for most of his 82 years, where he pursued his passions for teaching, golfing, sports broadcasting, gardening, and writing. He died peacefully at home on June 17, 2025 following a two-and-a-half year battle with bulbur-onset Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis &nbsp;(ALS a/k/a Lou Gehrig's Disease). Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Thelma (Borger) Hilst and his sister, Vivian Donnelley. He is survived by 87 family members, including his six siblings: Sandra Linley, Sheila Soleimani, Rhonda Kimball, Rick Hilst, Pam Burzinski, and Kent Hilst, as well as 22 nieces and nephews, and 36 grand nieces and nephews. &nbsp;He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Those are the broad facts of my brother's life, but they don't begin to capture his essence. If it is true that "time is not measured by the years that you live, but by the deeds that you do and the joy that you give" (Helen Steiner Rice), then Rusty's life was truly outsized, dwarfing even his 82 years.

My brother did what he loved, and he loved so much! How do you distill that into an obituary? I've agonized ov er that impossibility, until finally realizing my mistake. His friends have already done the heavy-lifting. &nbsp;We have only to listen, while they give you Rusty...

In the words of one good friend, " Rusty was truly one of one" - there are no others like him.&nbsp;

Another proclaimed him, "My Yoda. So smart, so passionate, so compassionate, such an inspiration."&nbsp;

Yet another marveled at the way he poured into his students' lives "wisdom and kindness, always believing in their potential."

"What I admired most," one remarked, "was how deeply he cared — for his family, his friends, and for doing things the right way. He brought thoughtfulness, grace, and fierce competitive spirit into every moment... Rusty leaves behind a legacy of excellence, kindness, and integrity."

That refrain echoes again and again, "How lucky for all of us that we enjoyed the wit, wisdom and wonder of this incredibly fine and decent man."

And, with a humorous nod to his passing, "Heaven is in for a treat."

Rusty deserves the superlatives. But how did he grow into them?

Born four days after Christmas in 1942, Rusty enjoyed an uneventful (well, except for ingesting a little gasoline!) early childhood in small town Meade. That changed when he contracted rheumatic fever in the second grade and was confined to bed for eight long months. There were no TVs in those days, and even radios were scarce. So Rusty spent those months teaching himself to read and devouring all the mysteries and adventures the library could offer up. From chance and adversity grew a lifelong passion for learning, reading, and self-sufficiency.

In 1957, Rusty's family moved to Hutchinson. Here Rusty discovered another grand passion — &nbsp;golf. It happened almost incidentally, again owing to the rheumatic fever that had left him with a heart murmur. Unable to participate in basketball or football, Rusty took up golf. And never looked back! Playing at Carey Park, the community course, using a very rudimentary set of clubs, Rusty quickly gained skill. Before long, he was playing on the Hutchinson High School golf team, where in 1960 he helped the Salthawks snag a 4-man state title. Rusty went on to win numerous city championships and eventually, a place in the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame (2002).&nbsp;

Rusty was always a good student, which was fortunate, because in a family that had grown to seven kids (sisters Vivian, Sandra, Sheila, Rhonda and Pam, and brother Rick — Kent, the baby of the family having yet to make an appearance), money was scarce . Having secured scholarship help, in 1960 he packed an old steamer trunk and climbed aboard a train for Valparaiso University in Indiana. His love of golf went with him. Still, he took his education seriously, not missing a single class that first semester and making all A's. That single mindedness didn't last. By the end of his junior year, Rusty campaigned — unsuccessfully — to convince his folks that he should stop out and become a golf pro.&nbsp;

This left Rusty with three options upon graduation: get a job (and get drafted), go to law school, or pursue a PhD in political science. He opted for the graduate program at The University of Kansas, becoming a Jayhawk. While there, he was a self-described "unenthusiastic" student. A sports fan, he managed to attend every home basketball game, but none of the football games (preferring to spend those Saturday afternoons on the nearly empty Lawrence Country Club course — golf still being his abiding love).&nbsp;

While Rusty was drifting along, completing his masters in political science, and heading without much conviction for a Ph.D., fate, in the form of a last-minute opening in the math department at Hutchinson High School (HHS), had other plans. Rusty never intended to become a teacher. He had zero education courses, zero teaching credentials, zero experience. But teach he would and did! Thus, chance launched a legendary teaching career that began in 1960 and spanned 54 years. Rusty's first year teaching was rough (pencils in the ceiling rough!), but undeterred he went on to handle courses ranging from college algebra to calculus and trigonometry. &nbsp;In 1978 he was made chair of the HHS Math Department.&nbsp;

Rusty's commitment to mentoring extended beyond the classroom. Marrying his love of teaching and golf, he was soon helping coach the high school golf team. When the head coach, Rusty's friend and mentor Max Hamilton, died, Rusty stepped into that role. For the next 30 years — during which time the Salthawk team qualified for State twenty-six years in a row — he held that position. Rusty was in his element coaching, helping to hone the skills of young people and imparting what he called Life Lessons, as when he encouraged a player to self-report a scoring error that prevented his team from winning a championship. "Reporting the incorrect score kept us from winning," Rusty acknowledged later, "but it also taught a huge lesson about honesty and integrity."

Never one to ration his energies when it came to his passions, Rusty made time in his busy schedule to keep stats for the high school basketball and football teams. It was a labor of love, done strictly behind the scenes. Until it wasn't. In 1969, Rusty picked up a mic. Circumstances compelled, and — once again — Rusty obliged. Thus began his storied career in sports broadcasting. Initially he called games at KWHK Radio, then joined KWBW in l980. What started by chance, like so much in Rusty's life, developed into a decades-spanning career covering games at Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College, and the NJCAA Tournament.&nbsp;

From 1995 through 2019, Rusty served as sports director at Eagle Communications. In 2004 he was named the Kansas Sportscaster of the Year, and in 2005, he won the Hod Humiston Award for excellence in broadcasting from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. In 2014 Rusty became the first non-player, coach or administrator ever inducted into the Hutchinson Community College Quarterback Club Hall of Fame, in recognition of his unmatched service to Blue Dragon athletics through broadcasting and advocacy.&nbsp;

As he approached his 80th birthday, Rusty cut back on the number of courses he taught, but he vowed to continue in the classroom as long as he was able, regarding teaching time as "the best time of his day." &nbsp;Again it was fate, this time in the form of COVID, that emptied the halls of Hutch High and precipitated his retirement.

In 2023, Rusty garnered one of the state’s highest honors in education when he was inducted into the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame, a tribute to his extraordinary impact in the classroom over five decades. Later that year, Hutchinson High School dedicated Rusty’s Room, a calm space for students to reset emotionally and mentally, fittingly located in the very room where he taught math for most of his 54-year teaching career.&nbsp;

Adversity had one more twist in store for Rusty. Shortly before Christmas in 2022, he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's (ALS), a fatal, degenerative disease. Such a blow might have caused him to retreat into the shadows, hiding as he awaited his body's slow decline and eventual death. But that wasn't Rusty. He was forged of tougher stuff. And stubborn, very stubborn. Instead he confronted ALS head-on and very publicly, determined to continue living and to find joy even now. And while he was at it, he would share his experience, with honesty and humor, so that others coming after might find knowledge and hope supplanting fear.&nbsp;

Then, at the age of 80 and already fighting ALS, Rusty took on a new challenge. He became an author, penning his autobiography, Banana Man. He also provided weekly updates to his many supporters on the "Rally for Rusty Hilst" facebook page. There, over the next two years he shared his philosophy, his concerns, his hopes and fears. He was transparent about the reality of his ALS ("globs of mucous" included), not glossing over the losses, but never bitter or despairing &nbsp;Even as the disease stole his ability to walk, talk, swallow, even stand, Rusty continued ferreting out the joy that remained. This was Rusty in his element, caring and sharing. Teaching.&nbsp;

At least one of Rusty's friends considered this his crowning achievement. "Rusty was a multi-talented individual that touched so very many lives, and this most recent episode of sharing the ALS journey might be his best work. No question calling a national championship or state title, or coaching golf, or teaching young kids to have AHA moments when doing their math, that was all stuff that Rusty did quite well. But the courage to share his story with truth, humility, humor and wit may help many more families deal with ALS in the future. Thank you Rusty for a life well-lived and for sharing with family, friends and fans."

Where do we leave off chronicling Rusty's life interests and accomplishments? There is always more... We haven't discussed the seven city golf tournaments he won. Or the golf scoreboards he maintained. Haven't even touched upon his abiding love for Prairie Dunes Country Club, which he regarded as his second home, and where he golfed, won and administered tournaments, and served on the influential greens committee. Nor have we mentioned his actual home (the only home he ever owned and lived in), with the drab back yard he transformed into a oasis featured on garden tours. Or his beloved koi.&nbsp;

Another omission? Rusty's lighter side. His orneriness. How he once sewed up a friend's sleeves to make him late for class, and collaborated in devising an April Fools fake quiz. His humor. How he vowed never to act his age and role-played exotic characters to make math fun. Even his stubbornness. Rusty was a lifetime (Lutheran Church MIssouri Synod) Christian. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Meade, Kansas and was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson from 1957 to the date of his death.

Rusty lived a life of passion and purpose. And many were inspired by him to similarly become an educator...a golf coach...a radio DJ...or simply a better person, emulating the kind, thoughtful way he encouraged folks and treated them with patience and understanding.

Rusty's memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E 12th, Hutchinson. Come early, a crowd is expected. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Thelma (Borger) Hilst and his sister, Vivian Donnelley. He is survived by 87 family members, including his six siblings: Sandra Linley, Sheila Soleimani, Rhonda Kimball, Rick Hilst, Pam Burzinski, and Kent Hilst, as well as 22 nieces and nephews, and 36 grand nieces and nephews. &nbsp;He will be missed, but not forgotten.The StoryThose are the broad facts of my brother's life, but they don't begin to capture his essence. If it is true that "time is not measured by the years that you live, but by the deeds that you do and the joy that you give" (Helen Steiner Rice), then Rusty's life was truly outsized, dwarfing even his 82 years.My brother did what he loved, and he loved so much! How do you distill that into an obituary? I've agonized ov er that impossibility, until finally realizing my mistake. His friends have already done the heavy-lifting. &nbsp;We have only to listen, while they give you Rusty...In the words of one good friend, " Rusty was truly one of one" - there are no others like him.&nbsp;Another proclaimed him, "My Yoda. So smart, so passionate, so compassionate, such an inspiration."&nbsp;Yet another marveled at the way he poured into his students' lives "wisdom and kindness, always believing in their potential.""What I admired most," one remarked, "was how deeply he cared — for his family, his friends, and for doing things the right way. He brought thoughtfulness, grace, and fierce competitive spirit into every moment... Rusty leaves behind a legacy of excellence, kindness, and integrity."That refrain echoes again and again, "How lucky for all of us that we enjoyed the wit, wisdom and wonder of this incredibly fine and decent man."And, with a humorous nod to his passing, "Heaven is in for a treat."The Making of a LegendRusty deserves the superlatives. But how did he grow into them?Born four days after Christmas in 1942, Rusty enjoyed an uneventful (well, except for ingesting a little gasoline!) early childhood in small town Meade. That changed when he contracted rheumatic fever in the second grade and was confined to bed for eight long months. There were no TVs in those days, and even radios were scarce. So Rusty spent those months teaching himself to read and devouring all the mysteries and adventures the library could offer up. From chance and adversity grew a lifelong passion for learning, reading, and self-sufficiency.In 1957, Rusty's family moved to Hutchinson. Here Rusty discovered another grand passion — &nbsp;golf. It happened almost incidentally, again owing to the rheumatic fever that had left him with a heart murmur. Unable to participate in basketball or football, Rusty took up golf. And never looked back! Playing at Carey Park, the community course, using a very rudimentary set of clubs, Rusty quickly gained skill. Before long, he was playing on the Hutchinson High School golf team, where in 1960 he helped the Salthawks snag a 4-man state title. Rusty went on to win numerous city championships and eventually, a place in the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame (2002).&nbsp;Rusty was always a good student, which was fortunate, because in a family that had grown to seven kids (sisters Vivian, Sandra, Sheila, Rhonda and Pam, and brother Rick — Kent, the baby of the family having yet to make an appearance), money was scarce . Having secured scholarship help, in 1960 he packed an old steamer trunk and climbed aboard a train for Valparaiso University in Indiana. His love of golf went with him. Still, he took his education seriously, not missing a single class that first semester and making all A's. That single mindedness didn't last. By the end of his junior year, Rusty campaigned — unsuccessfully — to convince his folks that he should stop out and become a golf pro.&nbsp;This left Rusty with three options upon graduation: get a job (and get drafted), go to law school, or pursue a PhD in political science. He opted for the graduate program at The University of Kansas, becoming a Jayhawk. While there, he was a self-described "unenthusiastic" student. A sports fan, he managed to attend every home basketball game, but none of the football games (preferring to spend those Saturday afternoons on the nearly empty Lawrence Country Club course — golf still being his abiding love).&nbsp;While Rusty was drifting along, completing his masters in political science, and heading without much conviction for a Ph.D., fate, in the form of a last-minute opening in the math department at Hutchinson High School (HHS), had other plans. Rusty never intended to become a teacher. He had zero education courses, zero teaching credentials, zero experience. But teach he would and did! Thus, chance launched a legendary teaching career that began in 1960 and spanned 54 years. Rusty's first year teaching was rough (pencils in the ceiling rough!), but undeterred he went on to handle courses ranging from college algebra to calculus and trigonometry. &nbsp;In 1978 he was made chair of the HHS Math Department.&nbsp;Rusty's commitment to mentoring extended beyond the classroom. Marrying his love of teaching and golf, he was soon helping coach the high school golf team. When the head coach, Rusty's friend and mentor Max Hamilton, died, Rusty stepped into that role. For the next 30 years — during which time the Salthawk team qualified for State twenty-six years in a row — he held that position. Rusty was in his element coaching, helping to hone the skills of young people and imparting what he called Life Lessons, as when he encouraged a player to self-report a scoring error that prevented his team from winning a championship. "Reporting the incorrect score kept us from winning," Rusty acknowledged later, "but it also taught a huge lesson about honesty and integrity."Never one to ration his energies when it came to his passions, Rusty made time in his busy schedule to keep stats for the high school basketball and football teams. It was a labor of love, done strictly behind the scenes. Until it wasn't. In 1969, Rusty picked up a mic. Circumstances compelled, and — once again — Rusty obliged. Thus began his storied career in sports broadcasting. Initially he called games at KWHK Radio, then joined KWBW in l980. What started by chance, like so much in Rusty's life, developed into a decades-spanning career covering games at Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College, and the NJCAA Tournament.&nbsp;From 1995 through 2019, Rusty served as sports director at Eagle Communications. In 2004 he was named the Kansas Sportscaster of the Year, and in 2005, he won the Hod Humiston Award for excellence in broadcasting from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. In 2014 Rusty became the first non-player, coach or administrator ever inducted into the Hutchinson Community College Quarterback Club Hall of Fame, in recognition of his unmatched service to Blue Dragon athletics through broadcasting and advocacy.&nbsp;As he approached his 80th birthday, Rusty cut back on the number of courses he taught, but he vowed to continue in the classroom as long as he was able, regarding teaching time as "the best time of his day." &nbsp;Again it was fate, this time in the form of COVID, that emptied the halls of Hutch High and precipitated his retirement.In 2023, Rusty garnered one of the state’s highest honors in education when he was inducted into the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame, a tribute to his extraordinary impact in the classroom over five decades. Later that year, Hutchinson High School dedicated Rusty’s Room, a calm space for students to reset emotionally and mentally, fittingly located in the very room where he taught math for most of his 54-year teaching career.&nbsp;Adversity had one more twist in store for Rusty. Shortly before Christmas in 2022, he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's (ALS), a fatal, degenerative disease. Such a blow might have caused him to retreat into the shadows, hiding as he awaited his body's slow decline and eventual death. But that wasn't Rusty. He was forged of tougher stuff. And stubborn, very stubborn. Instead he confronted ALS head-on and very publicly, determined to continue living and to find joy even now. And while he was at it, he would share his experience, with honesty and humor, so that others coming after might find knowledge and hope supplanting fear.&nbsp;Then, at the age of 80 and already fighting ALS, Rusty took on a new challenge. He became an author, penning his autobiography, Banana Man. He also provided weekly updates to his many supporters on the "Rally for Rusty Hilst" facebook page. There, over the next two years he shared his philosophy, his concerns, his hopes and fears. He was transparent about the reality of his ALS ("globs of mucous" included), not glossing over the losses, but never bitter or despairing &nbsp;Even as the disease stole his ability to walk, talk, swallow, even stand, Rusty continued ferreting out the joy that remained. This was Rusty in his element, caring and sharing. Teaching.&nbsp;At least one of Rusty's friends considered this his crowning achievement. "Rusty was a multi-talented individual that touched so very many lives, and this most recent episode of sharing the ALS journey might be his best work. No question calling a national championship or state title, or coaching golf, or teaching young kids to have AHA moments when doing their math, that was all stuff that Rusty did quite well. But the courage to share his story with truth, humility, humor and wit may help many more families deal with ALS in the future. Thank you Rusty for a life well-lived and for sharing with family, friends and fans."What's Missing HereWhere do we leave off chronicling Rusty's life interests and accomplishments? There is always more... We haven't discussed the seven city golf tournaments he won. Or the golf scoreboards he maintained. Haven't even touched upon his abiding love for Prairie Dunes Country Club, which he regarded as his second home, and where he golfed, won and administered tournaments, and served on the influential greens committee. Nor have we mentioned his actual home (the only home he ever owned and lived in), with the drab back yard he transformed into a oasis featured on garden tours. Or his beloved koi.&nbsp;Another omission? Rusty's lighter side. His orneriness. How he once sewed up a friend's sleeves to make him late for class, and collaborated in devising an April Fools fake quiz. His humor. How he vowed never to act his age and role-played exotic characters to make math fun. Even his stubbornness. HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A once-prominent name in the world of marching music is making a long-awaited return. The Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps, originally founded in Hutchinson in 1955 and absent since the mid-1990s, is back and ready to perform.

Led by longtime director and alumnus Dale Antoine, the corps is entering its second season since being revived by a group of passionate alumni in 2022. After decades of silence, the Sky Ryders are rebuilding with enthusiasm, community support, and a clear vision of returning to national prominence.

“This is our second year, but we’re calling it a rebirth,” said Antoine. “The corps was a staple here in Hutch until 1989 before it moved to Texas for a short time, and by 1994 it was gone. Now, after nearly three decades, we’re back.”

This summer, the Sky Ryders boast a roster of 78 performers, ranging in age from 14 to 21. The corps includes 28 percussionists, 36 brass and wind players, 12 color guard members, and one drum major. “We’ve got kids from all over — Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma — and they’re committed and talented,” Antoine added. “It’s a young corps, with an average age of 17, which is exactly where you want to be when you’re rebuilding.”

Though the corps couldn’t secure a competitive show in Hutchinson this season due to Drum Corps International’s tour routing, they will participate in a three-show tour in early July.

Before departing on tour, the public is invited to a free dress rehearsal performance at Gowans Stadium on Monday, July 7. Gates open at 7 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring water and enjoy a first look at this year’s show. “It’s going to be a simple run-through — no frills, just raw performance,” said Antoine. “But we want the community to see the result of the kids’ hard work before we hit the road.”

The Sky Ryders will perform in&nbsp;Ankeny, Iowa  July 9, Dubuque, Iowa  July 11 and Lisle, Illinois  July 12. 

In addition, the Sky Ryders will march in the 35th Annual Patriots Parade on July 4 in Hutchinson, marking the first time in years that the parade will feature a live marching musical group.

The comeback has been made possible through strong community support. Hutchinson Community Foundation has provided key grants, and Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College have offered facilities and housing for the corps’ rehearsals. “We’ve also had support from the local business community and even the Kansas National Guard Armory,” Antoine said. “The welcome has been amazing.”

Still, keeping a drum corps running isn’t cheap. Uniforms, instruments, transportation, and housing add up quickly. “We’ve just received new uniforms,” Antoine noted, “and if anyone out there has alteration skills, we could use the help!”

For now, the Sky Ryders are focused on the present — giving young musicians the experience of a lifetime, honoring their legacy, and proudly representing Hutchinson on the national stage once more.

From the beginning, Service Plus set itself apart with transparent pricing, flexible payment plans, and an obsessive attention to detail—going so far as to use drop cloths and Swiffers to ensure workspaces are left cleaner than when the team arrived.

“We’re not just fixing wires,” Brown said. “We’re rebuilding confidence in what great service looks like.”

Service Plus Electrical Solutions is Hutch Chamber's June Small Business of the Month 

John Charles Summervill, 89, died June 17, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. &nbsp;He was born April 9, 1936, in Hillsboro, to Wesley and Mildred (Bredemeier) Summervill. &nbsp;

John graduated Marion High School in 1953. &nbsp;He served in the United Sates Army from 1957 to 1959. &nbsp;John attended Emporia State Teachers College where he received his bachelor degree in 1962 and his master degree in 1963, both in education. &nbsp;He was a very proud Hornet! &nbsp;His teaching career began in Strong City, where he taught 7th grade. &nbsp;John then moved to Hutchinson and worked primarily for USD 309 Nickerson-South Hutchinson. &nbsp;He started out teaching at South Hutchinson Grade School before moving to Nickerson High School where he taught history and government. &nbsp;In addition, John served as the Athletic Director for USD 309 and coached girls’ basketball and softball. John also officiated basketball, baseball and football games. &nbsp;Never one for rest and relaxation, he worked in the summers for the Soil Conservation Service and mowed lawns for over 50 years.&nbsp;

John had a passion for education and encouraging students and athletes to work hard and strive for excellence. As a result, he received many awards throughout his teaching career. John was inducted into the Kansas State High School Activities Association Hall of Fame and the Teacher Hall of Fame. &nbsp;In addition, he was named Athletic Director of the Year.

Giving back and supporting the community, was an integral part of John’s life. &nbsp;He was involved in NEA, KNEA, Kansas College Officials Association, and the ESU Alumni Association. &nbsp;John also served as a trustee for the ESU Foundation. In addition, he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, where he participated in the Methodist Men, Doers Sunday School Class, and served as a Sunday morning usher. &nbsp;John was a fixture at church, always volunteering “behind the scenes”.&nbsp;

John was dedicated to his church, education, and the community, but his greatest love and dedication was his family. &nbsp;He was a devoted and proud husband, father, and grandfather, always supporting his family with unconditional love.&nbsp;

While at Emporia State, he met his future bride, Barbara Ann Cooper. &nbsp;They were married July 1, 1961, in Cheney.&nbsp;

John is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 64 years, Barbara of Hutchinson; children, Rodney Summervill (Carol), and Jill Goertzen (Russ), all of Buhler; grandsons, Jacob Goertzen of Buhler, Joshua Goertzen of Manhattan, Justin Goertzen, and Jesse Goertzen, all of Buhler; step-grandchildren, Megan Anger, Ethan Caster, and Dane Caster; sister, Sue Navrat (Dennis); sisters-in-law, Marge Summervill and Val Summervill; and numerous nieces, nephews and former students.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Marion Summervill and Mick Summervill.

Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. &nbsp;Private inurnment will take place in the church columbarium. &nbsp;Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary and from 9:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

 </figure>John Charles Summervill, 89, died June 17, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. &nbsp;He was born April 9, 1936, in Hillsboro, to Wesley and Mildred (Bredemeier) Summervill. &nbsp;John graduated Marion High School in 1953. &nbsp;He served in the United Sates Army from 1957 to 1959. &nbsp;John attended Emporia State Teachers College where he received his bachelor degree in 1962 and his master degree in 1963, both in education. &nbsp;He was a very proud Hornet! &nbsp;His teaching career began in Strong City, where he taught 7th grade. &nbsp;John then moved to Hutchinson and worked primarily for USD 309 Nickerson-South Hutchinson. &nbsp;He started out teaching at South Hutchinson Grade School before moving to Nickerson High School where he taught history and government. &nbsp;In addition, John served as the Athletic Director for USD 309 and coached girls’ basketball and softball. John also officiated basketball, baseball and football games. &nbsp;Never one for rest and relaxation, he worked in the summers for the Soil Conservation Service and mowed lawns for over 50 years.&nbsp;John had a passion for education and encouraging students and athletes to work hard and strive for excellence. As a result, he received many awards throughout his teaching career. HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Behind dominant relief pitching and just enough offense, the Hutchinson Monarchs edged the Junction City Brigade 2-1 in a tightly contested game Wednesday night at Hobart-Detter Field.

Lachlan Rosser started for the Monarchs but had trouble with control from the very start. He walked four, struck-out 2 giving up 1 run and 1 hit over the 1.1 innings pitched. He was able to work his way out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the first with nobody out. 

Cole Toureau was stellar in long relief for the Monarchs, entering in the second inning and tossing 5.2 brilliant frames. The right-hander gave up just one hit, walked three, and struck out eight to earn the win.

Aiden Sowers locked down the final six outs for the save, allowing only one hit and one walk while fanning two — including the final out of the game with the potential tying run on second base.

The Brigade struck first in the second inning when Ian Luce scored from third on a costly error by Monarchs third baseman Joey Senstock. That would be Junction City’s only run of the night.

Hutchinson answered in the fourth. Jake Knox singled and came around to score on a triple by Dylan Bell, tying the game at 1-1. The Monarchs took the lead for good in the sixth when Drew Bugner crossed the plate on an error by Brigade first baseman Brayden Harpole following a grounder by Blake Bradford.

Junction City starter Max Lialios was tough in the loss, allowing just four hits and two runs — only one earned — across eight innings. He struck out three and walked one.

The game was a brisk affair, lasting just 2 hours and 1 minute, as both pitching staffs were sharp throughout the night.

With the win, the Monarchs, now 11-2 continue to hold their ground in the league standings while showcasing the depth of their bullpen.

Hutchinson is off today, but will travel to Junction City on Friday before a road game in Wichita on Saturday versus the Wichita Wildcats College team. The next home game is Monday, June 23rd at Hobart-Detter versus the Wildcats again.

Hutchinson Community College sophomore first baseman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/maher_quinn_nqj4">Quinn Maher</a>&nbsp;was named a national Gold Glove winner on Wednesday.

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released its NJCAA Division I Gold Glove team for the 2025. Maher, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colorado was one of Jayhawk Conference players on this year's team, which recognizes the top defensive players in the nation.

Maher, outfielder Marcus Dierks and Fort Scott pitcher Reese Kortum represent the KJCCC on this year's Gold Glove team.

Maher is the fifth Blue Dragon to earn a national Gold Glove award. Maher joins Ben McLaughlin (2022), Shane Cooper (2017), Michael Helman (2016) and Bennett Oliver (2013) as ABCA Gold Glove winners.

Previously named All-Jayhawk West honorable mention and All-Region 6 Gold Club this season, Maher is just the sixth Blue Dragon player in program history to post a 1.000 fielding percentage with more than 150 defensive chances.

Maher started 60 games at first base in 2025 and did not commit an error in 418 total defensive chances. Maher's 418 defensive chances ranked seventh in Blue Dragon single-season history. His 412 putouts are four-most in Blue Dragon history, third most by a Hutchinson first baseman.

Maher helped the 2025 Blue Dragons lead the Jayhawk West in defense this season with a .972 team fielding percentage.

Over his two years with the Blue Dragons, Maher committed only three errors in 467 total defensive chances.

The Blue Dragons finished 40-21 this season, placing third in the Jayhawk West. The Dragons swept the Allen Red Devils in two games in the Plains District opening-round series at Hobart-Detter Field. The Blue Dragons went 1-2 in the Plains District Tournament in Salina.

Offensively, Maher hit .299 for the season (58 for 194) with 14 doubles, eight home runs, 41 RBIs and 59 runs scored.

Box, a sophomore from Leicester, England, became the second Blue Dragon golfer to capture an NJCAA Individual national championship when he captured the 2025 NJCAA title on May 16 at Sand Creek Station.

Box shot a 1-over-par 73 in the fourth and final round and finished with a 5-under 283 for his fourth tournament win of the season and fifth of his Blue Dragon career.

Box joined Ben Partridge as the only Blue Dragon golfers to win the NJCAA Individual national championship in program history. Partridge won a four-hole playoff with teammate Harry Crockett in 2021 in Lubbock, Texas.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — U.S. Senator Roger Marshall joined the BW Morning Show this week to discuss what he calls the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping tax and spending reform package he says could reshape the American economy and benefit Kansans across income levels.

At the heart of the legislation, Marshall said, is a key promise: “It will prevent the largest tax increase in American history.” He claimed the bill would allow the average Kansas family to keep up to $1,000 more per month by extending and making permanent tax cuts first introduced in 2017 under the Trump administration.

Tax Relief for Families, Seniors, and Small Businesses

Marshall said the legislation includes provisions to:

“There’s something in this bill for everyone,” Marshall said. “Hard-working families, farmers, seniors, small business owners—this helps them all.”

He added that small business incentives such as permanent deductions for research and development, capital expenses, and interest will give entrepreneurs long-term financial stability.

The bill also contains expansions for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), allowing individuals to use pre-tax dollars for a broader range of health-related expenses—including insurance, prescriptions, and primary care memberships.

On education, Marshall said the bill improves flexibility in Pell Grants, especially for students attending technical colleges or non-traditional programs, and expands 529 savings account benefits.

“These changes reflect the needs of today’s workforce,” he said, emphasizing support for short-term certification programs over four-year degrees alone.

Beyond taxes and education, the bill includes $83 billion in additional funding for veterans and guarantees the largest military pay raise in U.S. history over the next four years.

Border security is another key component, according to Marshall, who said the bill would fund approximately 2,000 miles of physical barriers on the southern U.S. border and increase support for Border Patrol efforts, including deployment of military personnel from Fort Riley.

Medicaid Work Requirements and Spending Cuts

Marshall stressed that the bill does not cut Medicare or Medicaid services for seniors or people with disabilities, but does introduce work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents.

“There are 7 million healthy, working-age American men not working right now,” he said. “This bill encourages work—because a job is the best safety net we have.”

The bill is also expected to reduce federal spending by nearly $2 trillion, which Marshall said is a step toward addressing the national debt.

The final text of the bill is expected to be released within days, with a Senate vote likely the following week. Marshall said the goal is to pass the bill and have it signed into law by July 4.

“It sounds ambitious,” he acknowledged, “but we’re on Trump time now. The President wants this done, and this is his signature legislation. It’s the most impactful bill since Ronald Reagan.”

Marshall closed by calling the legislation a “launch pad” for future reforms, citing trade, deregulation, and manufacturing growth as next steps in rebuilding the economy.

“This is just the beginning,” he said. “But it’s the biggest first step we could take.”

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Rusty Hilst, a revered teacher, broadcaster, and golfer who became a cornerstone of the Hutchinson community for more than five decades, has died after a long battle with ALS. He was 82.

Best known for his steady voice on the radio and his steady hand in the classroom, Hilst dedicated his life to education, athletics, and storytelling, leaving behind a legacy etched into generations of Hutchinson lives.&nbsp;

“Rusty was the most prepared person I’ve ever met when it came to his sports broadcasts,” said longtime broadcast partner Rob Dreher. “We were super early to any broadcast we ever did. I’ll miss the away games and car rides the most.”&nbsp;

Born on Dec. 29, 1942, in Pratt, Hilst overcame early adversity after contracting rheumatic fever in second grade. Confined to bed for eight months, he taught himself to read, a foreshadowing of the intellect and resilience that would define his life.&nbsp;

His family moved to Hutchinson in 1957, where Hilst soon became a standout golfer at Hutchinson High School. He helped lead the Salthawks to a 4-man state title in 1960 and remained deeply tied to local golf throughout his life, winning city championships and later earning a place in the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame in 2002.&nbsp;

After earning degrees from Valparaiso University and the University of Kansas, Hilst planned to pursue a PhD until a last-minute vacancy at Hutch High brought him home. What started as a one-semester teaching stint turned into a 53-year career shaping minds and mentoring students as beloved math teacher and golf coach. He taught calculus, trigonometry and college algebra and became chair of the HHS Math Department in 1978.&nbsp;

In 1969, Hilst added another title to his résumé: broadcaster. He began calling games for KWHK Radio, then joined KWBW in 1980, launching a decades-long career covering Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College, and the NJCAA Tournament. He served as sports director at Eagle Communications from 1995 to 2019 and earned numerous honors, including the Hod Humiston Award from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and Kansas Sportscaster of the Year in 2004.&nbsp;

“For 22 seasons, from September 1998 to March 2019, Rusty Hilst and I shared the road, the press box, and countless memories,” said former broadcast partner Glen Grunwald. “He was a dear friend, a mentor, and truly one of a kind.”&nbsp;

Grunwald described Hilst as the consummate professional, calm, thorough, and generous with his time. “Rusty had a passion for sports, but even more so for the people around him. He poured his heart into everything he did,” Grunwald said.&nbsp;

Grunwald, who partnered with Hilst for more than two decades on Salthawk broadcasts, remembered a man who was more than just a colleague, he was a friend and mentor whose wisdom carried into everyday life.&nbsp;

“A few days before Christmas 2022, Rusty told me he had been diagnosed with ALS,” longtime broadcast partner Dan Naccarato said. “He faced the most difficult ordeal imaginable with dignity, courage, wisdom and humor.”&nbsp;

In 2014, Hilst became the first non-player, coach or administrator inducted into the Hutchinson Community College Quarterback Club Hall of Fame, a recognition of his unmatched service to Blue Dragon athletics through broadcasting and advocacy.&nbsp;

In 2023, Hilst received one of the state’s highest honors in education when he was inducted into the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame, a tribute to his extraordinary impact in the classroom over five decades.&nbsp;

Later that year, Hutchinson High School dedicated “Rusty’s Room,” a calm space for students to reset emotionally and mentally, fittingly located in the same hallway where he taught math for most of his 54-year teaching career.&nbsp;

“When I changed careers from the corporate world to teaching at HutchCC, Rusty was one of the first mentors I called,” Naccarato added. “His advice, to trust your intuition, build relationships with students, and learn to teach without using textbooks, still echoes in my mind today.”&nbsp;

From his early days teaching himself to read, to the late nights preparing for radio broadcasts, Hilst’s life was defined by a love for learning, a gift for connection, and a voice that guided, and comforted, thousands.&nbsp;

“Rusty leaves behind a legacy of excellence, kindness, and integrity,” Grunwald said. “He will be missed but never forgotten.”&nbsp;

Hutchinson mourns loss of beloved teacher, broadcaster Rusty Hilst

Roger Dean Schroeder, 72, died June 14, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born February 25, 1953, in Newton, to Menno George and Lavina Louise (Prieb) Schroeder.

Roger graduated in 1972 from Buhler High School; he later attended Sterling College. He worked at Buhler Mill as a miller for over 13 years and worked in machine maintenance at Tyson for over 20 years prior to his retirement. Each job Roger worked, he was always accompanied by his twin brother, Rodney. The two of them also did custom harvesting together for several years.

Roger loved spending time with his family and attending church. He also enjoyed woodworking, four-wheeling, whitewater rafting, and was very mechanical. Roger volunteered in Mexico at Children’s Haven International, an organization that aids underprivileged children. He attended church at New Hope Baptist Church.

On February 12, 2004, he married Sheryl, in Hutchinson. They shared 21 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Roger is survived by his wife, Sheryl Schroeder; his adult children, Jeremy Schroeder (Lynnette), Julie Paternoster (Tony), and Jamie Deering (Steve), and their mother, Marietta (Robinson) Schroeder who was married to Roger for 27 years; stepson Michael Boldt (Jennifer) and stepdaughter Christie Moye (Brian); grandchildren Katelyn Schroeder, Katy Truan (Eli), Grant Boldt (McKayla), and Allie Smith; great-granddaughter Magnolia Truan; as well as siblings Dale Schroeder (Phyllis), Jerry Schroeder, Harold Schroeder (Phyllis), Rodney Schroeder (Linda), and Jolene Snyder (Brad), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. June 20, 2025, at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Brian Lee officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the New Hope Baptist Church Facebook page. Burial will follow in Buhler Municipal East Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Lela M. (Kisselburg) Jones, 102, formerly of Hutchinson, peacefully passed away June 14, 2025, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, Lawrence, KS. She was born March 21, 1923, in Maysville, OK to Clarence and Knoxie (Wade) Kisselburg.

Lela earned her Associate’s degree in 1978 from Hutchinson Community Junior College and her Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology in 1980 &nbsp;from Wichita State University.

On December 17, 1949, Lela married Harold R. Jones. &nbsp;They had over 60 years of marriage before he passed in 2010.

Lela enjoyed singing in the choir at Trinity UMC in Hutchinson for over 40 years. She also taught Sunday School and was a Stephen Minister. &nbsp;She dedicated herself to reading to the visually impaired on KHCC for many years.

Lela is survived by her: son, Dr. David A. Jones (Marsha) of Surprise, AZ; grandchildren, Kristen Gill (Jarrod) and Greg Jones of Surprise, AZ; great-grandchildren, Treven and Kendel Gill; and brother, Kenneth Kisselburg of McCloud, OK.

She was preceded in death her: husband; parents; three sisters; and two brothers.

Norma Jean Simpson, 83, passed away June 14, 2025, at Legend of Hutchinson. &nbsp;The youngest of six, she was born March 20, 1942, in rural Pretty Prairie, KS to Harry and Eva (Walborn) Warfield.&nbsp;

Norma graduated from Pretty Prairie High School and Salt City Business College. &nbsp;After working at various places, including Cessna/Eaton in Hutchinson, KS, she became a CNA and then a CMA. &nbsp;Norma started at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson and ended at Presbyterian Manor in Wichita.

Norma is survived by: &nbsp;her husband of 64 years, Terry G. Simpson; daughters, Robin (Mike) Murphy, Fort Worth, TX and Kathie (James) Craig, Wichita, KS; daughter-in-law, Cindy Simpson, Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Makenzie (Nick) Messer, Zachary Simpson, Megan Murphy (Salem Luethy), Madeline Murphy, Zander Craig, and Zane Craig; great-grandchildren, Memphis Messer, Addie Messer, and Parker Rasmussen; brother and sister-in-law, Noel (Norma) Simpson; and brother-in-law, Dean Rydholm. From there, a selection committee comprised of media members and Shrine Bowl coaches narrows the field to 88 players, 44 on each side.“It’s a tough roster to make,” said Brice Kesler, executive director of the Kansas Shrine Bowl. “Once they’re nominated, media across the state vote, and our coaches from each classification help select two players each. It’s all structured to ensure statewide representation, both geographically and across school sizes.”Strict rules are in place, as no more than two players from the same school, and no more than three schools represented twice. If a selected player declines, alternates from the nomination pool are brought in, often relaxing the original restrictions.“We aim to spread the opportunity around,” Kesler said. “It’s about giving communities across Kansas a chance to celebrate their student-athletes while also contributing to a greater cause.”<h2>Life-Changing Perspective</h2>Among the most meaningful events of Shrine Bowl week is the Hospital Experience, a series of sessions where players, cheerleaders, and band members meet Shriners Children’s patient ambassadors.“This is the heart of the week,” Kesler said. “These ambassadors, from toddlers to young adults, share their journeys with our athletes. Many have overcome challenges from scoliosis to amputations and burns. They help participants understand what resilience truly looks like.”The goal, Kesler said, is more than awareness.“They show our athletes that a so-called disability can be turned into a superpower,” he said. “You can’t walk away from that unchanged.”<h2>Game Week Festivities</h2><ul>

</li><li>Friday Night Charity Carnival: Featuring food trucks, carnival games, casino events and autograph sessions with players at the Dodge City Civic Center.
</li><li>Saturday Morning Parade: The largest Shrine parade in Kansas, showcasing bands, floats and Shriners from across the state.
</li><li>Fan Fest: A free event in the Memorial Stadium parking lot Saturday afternoon, sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.

 </ul>The Kansas Shrine Bowl also hosts the Kansas Masonic All-State Marching Band Camp and All-Star Cheer Camp, giving nearly 400 students the chance to participate in the weekend's festivities.<h2>More Than a Game</h2>Since its inception, the Shrine Bowl has been played in nearly every corner of Kansas, from Lawrence to Hays and Pittsburg to Hutchinson. As of 2024, the West leads the series 31-18-2.But the scoreboard is only a small part of the story.“We want to involve as many communities as possible,” Kesler said. “That increases fundraising reach and also builds awareness. Families might not know that Shriners Children’s exists or that help is available.
