Jackie (Jack) D. McGonigle, age 81, passed away peacefully with family at the University of Nebraska Medical Center on May 8, 2025, in Omaha, NE. Jack was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, on November 4, 1943, to Zola and Jack McGonigle. Jack graduated from Nickerson Rural High School, in 1961, and married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Kay Koch, on May 12, 1962, in the South Hutchinson Methodist Church.
Jack attended Hutchinson Community College, then later finished his education at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in microbiology. After graduating, he began his career developing and manufacturing veterinary vaccines at Schering-Plough Corporation/Merck and later, retired from MVP Laboratories, Inc., as Executive Vice President.
Jack had numerous hobbies. Early on, he rode trials motorcycles and belonged to the Midwest Trials Association. He served as president for a year, along with other positions within the association. Other hobbies included fly fishing, golfing, and his favorite, photography. He was a member to numerous camera clubs over the years and had a photo published in the Nebraskaland magazine.
Jack is proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kay McGonigle, Elkhorn, NE. Daughters, Kay Lynn (Tim) Ward, Omaha, NE; Lori Ann Henry (Tom Wolfe), Omaha, NE. Grandchildren, Alexander Scott (Nicholl) Kilgore, Elkhorn, NE; Emma Ward, Kona, HI. Great-grandchildren, Rhodes Henry Kilgore, Wells Dean Kilgore, Elkhorn, NE. Brothers Jerry (Georgia) McGonigle, Hutchinson, KS; Charles (Amy) McGonigle, Topeka, KS.
