HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Plains State Bank is happy to announce the promotion of Cadey Dick to Loan Officer. Cadey began her career in banking after graduating from Hutchinson Community College in 2012, and she joined Plains State Bank as a Credit Analyst in 2021. 

Cadey enjoys being active in the community through the Young Professionals organization and serving in various roles with her daughter's school activities.

Plains State Bank promotes Cadey Dick

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs have a new coach. 

Casey Lippoldt will be taking the reins for the team's 15th year.  Casey has been coaching since 2009, where he started with the American Legion in Pratt, KS. and was a student assistant coach at Emporia state University. 

 He has coached at El Dorado, KS high school &amp; with the Derby Twins.  He played his final two summers of collegiate baseball with the Hutchinson Monarchs.  Casey &amp; his wife Tiffany have two sons.  

The new assistant coach is Ryan Pinkall.   He is a Kansas native, originally from Pratt.  Ryan played at Friends University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science.  He also played and coached with Casey Lippoldt in the American Legion League.   Ryan currently is a Biology instructor at Hutchinson Community College.  He also officiates football for the MIAA.  Ryan is looking forward to a great first season and getting back on the field with Casey.  

Monarch owners Kim and Mark Blackim said in a social media post, "We are excited to see where Casey &amp; Ryan can take this team in 2023."

CONCORDIA –&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/henderson_ryan_sab3">Ryan Henderson</a>&nbsp;hit a game-tying solo home run in the seventh and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/edmunson_will_rdcc">Will Edmunson</a>&nbsp;later followed with a go-ahead two-run blast in the 10th inning to power the Hutchinson Community College baseball team to a critical 5-3 victory in the Jayhawk West series finale on Saturday at Cloud County.

The Thunderbirds won the series with a 10-4 victory in the first game at Doyen Field on Saturday. The Blue Dragons avoided a four-game sweep, rallying from a 3-0 deficit after five innings.

The Blue Dragons are now 19-18 overall and 10-10 in the Jayhawk West. Cloud County is now 20-15 overall and 9-7 in the league. The Blue Dragons travel to NOC-Tonkawa on Tuesday and will play Cowley in a four-game weekend series beginning on Thursday at Hobart-Detter Field.

GAME 2 RECAP Edmunson was 2 for 5 with two home runs and four RBIs to lead the Blue Dragons in the series finale.

The Blue Dragon right fielder and Jayhawk West's leading hitter hit a two-run home run to left field to get the Dragons on the board and cut the Cloud County lead to 3-2.

The Dragons then tied the game as Henderson led off the seventh inning with a home-run to left-center field and knot the game at 3-all.

With two-out in the 10th inning,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/cymbalista_colin_zaji">Colin Cymbalista</a>&nbsp;singled and then scored on Edmunson's two-run go-ahead home run to center field to give the Dragons a 5-3 lead.

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/beverman_brady_cf7n">Brady Beverman</a>&nbsp;(1-1) tossed two shutout innings to earn his first victory of the season. He worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the 10th, but had a tremendous defensive play on&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/davis_jon_ucpo">Jon Davis</a>' diving catch for the second out of the inning.

Beverman struck out two and didn't allow a run, hit or walk in his two innings.

The Blue Dragon bullpen combined for five shutout innings and just four hits allowed.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/dandelet_ben_xj34">Ben Dandelet</a>&nbsp;worked three innings with four hits and no runs surrendered. ⚾ Blue Dragons rally to earn double-header split at Cloud County

WICHITA – Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/hamilton_sharim_i49d">Sharim Hamilton</a>&nbsp;had the top individual performance for the Hutchinson Community College men's track and field team at the KT Woodman Classic by winning the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday.

Running the final of five sections from Lane 7, the Blue Dragon sophomore ran a career-best time of 53.08 seconds to win the event at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium. Already a national qualifier, Hamilton bettered his career-best time in the event by .78 seconds and is now ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA.

Hamilton was one of five Top 10 finishes for the Blue Dragons over the two days of the KT Woodman Classic, which featured NCAA Division I and Division II teams as well as NAIA and NJCAA competition.

Saturday started strong as the 4x100 relay team placed fifth overall. The relay of&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/smith_omari_ulwa">Omari Smith</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/browne_dimetre_nfic">Dimetre Browne</a>, Cameron Campbell and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/seamster_ezekiel_tjbo">Ezekiel Seamster</a>&nbsp;ran a time of 42.00 seconds.

The Blue Dragons had two athletes reach the finals of the long jump. Browne placed fifth overall with a jump of 23 feet, 1.5 inches (7.05m).&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/manning_caleb_yxs7">Caleb Manning</a>&nbsp;was seventh at 22-6 (6.86m)

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/dimond_adrian_fuju">Adrian Dimond</a>&nbsp;made the finals of the triple jump and placed seventh overall with a PR performance of 44-3.5 inches (13.50m).

The Blue Dragons earned one new national qualifier at the KT Woodman Classic. Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/turpin_carsyn_h2c1">Carsyn Turpin</a>&nbsp;qualified in the 10,000-meters, which was ran on Friday night) with a PR time of 33:36.24.

Five different Blue Dragon athletes posted PRs in the 100 meters on Saturday – Seamster ran a 10.69, Campbell a 10.93, Smith an 11.08, Tracey Mason an 11.84 and A.J. Weninger a 12.04.

Campbell posted a career-best time in the 200 of 22.67 seconds.

Tanner Tustain cleared a personal best in the pole vault of 13-3.5 (4.05m).

👟 MTK: HutchCC's Sharim Hamilton wins at KT Woodman 400 Hurdles

WICHITA – Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/hernandez_madelyn_xh1v">Madelyn Hernandez</a>&nbsp;had a Top 5 finish in the high jump and a personal record in the 100-meter hurdles to lead the Hutchinson Community College women's track and field team on Saturday at the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium.

Hernandez finished third in the Woodman high jump with a clearance of 5 feet, 4.5 inches (1.64m), her second-best performance of the season.

During the high jump, Hernandez stepped onto the track and posted a PR in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished 10th in the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 14.96 seconds, which is only .25 seconds off the national qualifying time.

In a field filled with NCAA Division I and Division II talent as well as top NAIA and NJCAA competition, the Blue Dragons had 10 new PRs over the two days of the KT Woodman Classic.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/limon_liberty_kvcl">Liberty Limon</a>&nbsp;and sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/watkins_emme_5qoi">Emme Watkins</a>&nbsp;had top performances in the triple jump. Limon went 34-9 (10.60m). Watkins went 31-10.75 (9.72m).

Beau Matthew Mettlen, 18, passed away April 8, 2023. He was born on June 21, 2004, to Jeff and Michelle (Baker) Mettlen.

Beau grew up in Colby and was a current Great Bend resident.&nbsp; He was 
attending Barton Community College, on course to graduate in May 2023, 
with an associate degree in Agriculture Crop Protection. He was 
preparing to serve an internship with Performance Crop Research in Great
 Bend. 

Never having idle hands and having a servant’s heart, Beau was 
always ready to help his family, friends, and community, operating his 
own mowing business at an early age, helping his grandpa work cattle and
 farm, and serving on the color guard for Memorial Day at the Lucas 
Cemetery. He enjoyed “all things outdoors”; including construction, 
fishing, hunting, kayaking, and playing baseball.

Survivors include, his parents, Jeff and Michelle Mettlen of Great 
Bend; two sisters, Makenna Park and husband Tyler of Colby and Jayln 
Mettlen of Hutchinson; his grandparents, Richard and Kay Mettlen of 
Lucas and Bob and Doneida Baker of Great Bend; and many nieces, nephews,
 cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles, including, great 
aunt, Joan Dunlap of Lucas.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11:00 
a.m., at the Lucas United Methodist Church, 322 N Main St., Lucas, Kan.,
 with Pastor Les Rye presiding. Inurnment will be in the Lucas Cemetery 
following the service.

Greater Hutch said just as they&nbsp;value athletes who commit to play a college sport, the signing day ceremony is designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and emphasize the importance of their career choice.&nbsp;

&nbsp;On the day of the event, high school students, parents, instructors, administration, counselors, industry partners, potential employers, local and government officials will celebrate as students join their peers to commit to their future technical program pathway of choice. &nbsp;

Technical students recognized with Signing Day

The Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons fell to .500 in league play after a pair of home Jayhawk West losses to Cloud County on Thursday at Hobart-Detter Field.

The Blue Dragons were limited to four singles in a 4-1 loss in Game 1 of the series. The Dragons had a pair of leads in Game 2, but the Thunderbirds outscored Hutchinson 6-1 over the final three innings as Cloud County won the second game 9-5.

The Blue Dragons drop to 19-18 overall and are 9-9 in the Jayhawk West. Cloud County is 19-14 overall and 8-6 in the Jayhawk West. Games 3 and 4 of the series will be Saturday at Doyen Field in Concordia beginning at 1 p.m.

GAME 1 RECAP Hits were at a premium in the first game, but Cloud County scored single unearned runs in the first and fifth innings and plated two runs in the third.

Trailing 4-0 after five innings, the Blue Dragons got on the board in the sixth. ⚾ BSB: Blue Dragons drop a pair to Cloud County

EL DORADO –&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/goetz_aspen_qe50">Aspen Goetz</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/wertz_riley_hm55">Riley Wertz</a>&nbsp;homered while&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/munson_emily_vjqm">Emily Munson</a>&nbsp;and Wertz did the job in the pitching circle as the No. 15 Hutchinson Community College softball team earned a 7-2 victory over the No. 16 Butler Grizzlies in Game 1 of a Jayhawk Conference doubleheader on Wednesday at East Park.

The Grizzlies defeated Hutchinson 9-1 in six innings to earn a second doubleheader split between the top two teams in the KJCCC in Game 2.

The Blue Dragons are now 29-6 overall and 17-3 in the Jayhawk. Butler is now 28-8 and 19-3 in the Jayhawk. Hutchinson is off until next Wednesday when it plays at home for the first time since March 17 when the Dragons play host to Barton at Fun Valley.

GAME 1 RECAP Wertz hit her sixth home run of the season with one out in the second inning, a solo shot to center field, to give the Blue Dragons a 1-0 lead.

Then tied a 1-1 in the fifth, Goetz launched a three-run home run to left field to give the Dragons a 4-1 lead.

The Blue Dragons took advantage of two Butler errors and scored three runs in the sixth.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/darnell_jaeleigh_lirb">Jaeleigh Darnell</a>'s infield single to second base scored&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/grimes_madison_371p">Madison Grimes</a>&nbsp;for a 5-2 lead. Kyle Jacob Sisson, 38, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at his home.&nbsp;

Kyle was born on May 16, 1984, in McPherson, KS, the son of James Randal and Helen Ludwena (Gruenbacher) Sisson.&nbsp; He graduated from Spearville High School in 2003 and attended Hutchinson Community College on a track scholarship.&nbsp; He then enlisted in the Navy Seabees and served his country for seven years.&nbsp; Kyle was currently enrolled as a fulltime student at McPherson College.&nbsp;

Helen Louise Boody Sawyer died on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Botkin Care and Rehab in Wellington, Kansas.

Mrs.
 Sawyer was born January 31, 1933, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Wilmer 
Walborn Boody and Charlotte “Ruth” Hamilton Boody. As a youth, she spent 
her years in Kansas, Missouri, Utah, Pennsylvania and Colorado.  She 
was a graduate of Canon City High School, Canon City, Colorado. She also
 attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, and Manhattan Christian 
College in Manhattan, Kansas.

On May 29, 1952, Helen married the 
love of her life, Porter “Eugene” Sawyer in Enid, Oklahoma.  She was a 
stay-at-home mom while living in Colorado.   She sold Avon, babysat in 
the home, sang in various church choirs, taught Sunday School, and was a
 Den Mother for Cub Scouts.  Once the Sawyer family had relocated to 
South Haven, in 1975, from Colorado, Helen went to work at Wheatland 
Lodge Nursing Home as a Certified Nurse Assistant, a Certified Medical 
Aide, and Social Services Director.  She retired from South Haven Guest 
Home (formerly Wheatland Lodge) after 28 years of service. Helen loved 
to knit and crochet, and lovingly gave away what she had created.  Many 
babies wore the baby booties that she had completed.

Helen is 
survived by her youngest brother, Dale Boody; four children: Charles 
(Loveda) Sawyer of Miles City, Montana; Robert Sawyer of Hutchinson, 
Kansas; David (Yvonne) Sawyer of Hutchinson, Kansas; Linda (Rick) Evans 
of Yates Center, Kansas. 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren 
with one on the way. Also surviving is brother-in-law, Jack Garrison, 
and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her 
husband of 69 years, Porter Eugene Sawyer, her parents, and two 
brothers: Howard Boody and Elwin Boody.

A Celebration of Life will
 be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, in South Haven, KS at the Christian 
Church, with internment to follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery, South 
Haven, KS. Family asks that you wear purple, yellow or pink, as they 
are Helen’s favorite colors.

Hutchinson Community College freshman guard&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mbkb/2022-23/bios/franklin_aaron_5xfv">Aaron Franklin</a>&nbsp;became the 36th player in Blue Dragon men's basketball history to be named to the NJCAA Division I All-America team.

Franklin was named to the third team of the 2023 class of NJCAA All-Americans on Tuesday. The inclusion of Hutchinson's 6-foot-5 freshman from Kansas City, Missouri marks the third-straight season and the ninth in the last 10 seasons that at least one Blue Dragon has been named All-American.

This past season, Franklin was Hutchinson's and the Jayhawk Conference's leading scorer at 22.0 points per game. That tied for the 10th-best scoring average in the nation in 2022-23.

Scoring 703 points and knocking down 80 3-point goals this season, Franklin helped the 2022-23 Blue Dragon set a school record for season scoring average at 97.2 points per game and break the Hutchinson team season 3-point record with 245 made 3-pointers this season.

Franklin shot 49.3 percent overall from the field (282 of 572), was 80 of 244 from 3-point range (32.8 percent) and 59 of 94 from the free-throw line (62.8 percent). Franklin also averaged a team-high 8.2 rebounds per game with a team-high 60 steals and 72 assists.

The Blue Dragon guard, who missed most of the 2021-22 season because of injuries, scored in double figures in all 32 games, including 19 games of 20 or more points and five games of 30 or more points. Franklin's season high was 38 points scored against Pratt on January 25 at the Sports Arena. Franklin posted 10 double-doubles, including a 25-point, 18 rebound performance against Seward County on January 7 at the Sports Arena.

Last month, Franklin was named the KJCCC's Freshman of the Year and was a first-team All-KJCCC and first-team All-Region VI selection.

Franklin became just the 12th Blue Dragon ever to reach the 700-point plateau in a season. His 22.0-point scoring average tied Tony Arrington for ninth in team history. Franklin's 80 3-pointers are third most in Blue Dragon single-season history and his 282 total field goals are 10th in team history.

Franklin is the second-straight Blue Dragon to lead the KJCCC in scoring – last season Angelo Stuart was the Jayhawk's leading scorer. Franklin also led the KJCCC with 116 offensive rebounds and 282 field goals. He was fifth in 3-pointers and 10th in the league with 55 steals.

Franklin is one of six freshmen on this year's All-America team. He is also one of three players from the Jayhawk Conference on the teams – Dodge City's Jason Edwards is on the first team and Garden City's Buru Naivalurua is on the second team.

🏀 MBB: HutchCC's Aaron Franklin named 3rd Team All-American

HUTCHINSON, Kan. —&nbsp;<a href="https://opendoorhealthservices.com/" target="_blank">Open Door Health Services</a> with the <a href="https://www.hutchchamber.com/" target="_blank">Hutchinson and Reno County Chamber of Commerce</a> held a ribbon-cutting on April 4, to celebrate Open Door Health Services’ rebranding and their new partnership with <a href="https://www.hutchcc.edu/" target="_blank">Hutchinson Community College</a> (HCC).

Open Door Health Services was <a href="https://hutchpost.com/posts/0291fd82-0569-4198-873b-59792c070280">formerly Open Door Pregnancy Care Center</a>. &nbsp;

The ribbon-cutting took place in the Student Union Parking Lot at HCC.&nbsp;

Open Door Health Services provides confidential sexual health services for men and women from licensed medical professionals. &nbsp;

“Open Door has been known for over 20 years as Open Door Pregnancy Care Center, and in 2023 we just changed our name to Open Door Health Services because we're expanding the number of medical services we're offering and in particular beginning a college campus Outreach program,” Kristi Busatti, Open Door Health Services Executive Director, said. &nbsp;

&nbsp;According to Busatti, there are 14 colleges within an 80-mile radius of Open-Door Health Services. &nbsp;

“It's our desire to partner with those colleges to provide all of our services that we offer in our center on our mobile unit, which is a big RV that will drive around town,” Busatti said. “Our pilot program is HCC, we're partnering with them and we started last week.”&nbsp;

Busatti said Open Door went through a big process with HutchCC President Doctor Carter File and the President's Council to receive approval for their partnership.&nbsp;

“Every Tuesday at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., our mobile unit is parked in the Student Union parking lot at HCC to offer all of our services.” &nbsp;

People can go to the mobile unit on Tuesdays to get tested, then follow-up a week later for their results. 

Should someone test positive, the free treatment will be available at the mobile unit, making travel to a pharmacy unnecessary.

Free medical services that Open Door Health Services include:&nbsp;

Medical Ultrasounds. Pre-approval is required for ultrasounds. &nbsp;

“Our mobile unit has gone to different towns for the past two years, but we started our college campus outreach last week,” Busatti said. “Last Tuesday was our opening day at HCC.”&nbsp;

Since the pilot program just started and the spring semester ends soon, Busatti said Open Door plans to introduce other campuses in the fall. &nbsp;

“We plan to start with Bethel College in Newton and both of the colleges in McPherson,” Busatti said. “We don't have those solidified yet, but we'd like for that to be in the fall semester, so we're starting out with a pilot program with just HCC for this semester and this summer.”&nbsp;

 </figure>By JUDD WEIL&nbsp; Hutch PostHUTCHINSON, Kan. —&nbsp;<a href="https://opendoorhealthservices.com/" target="_blank">Open Door Health Services</a> with the <a href="https://www.hutchchamber.com/" target="_blank">Hutchinson and Reno County Chamber of Commerce</a> held a ribbon-cutting on April 4, to celebrate Open Door Health Services’ rebranding and their new partnership with <a href="https://www.hutchcc.edu/" target="_blank">Hutchinson Community College</a> (HCC). Open Door Health Services was <a href="https://hutchpost.com/posts/0291fd82-0569-4198-873b-59792c070280">formerly Open Door Pregnancy Care Center</a>. &nbsp;The ribbon-cutting took place in the Student Union Parking Lot at HCC.&nbsp;Open Door Health Services provides confidential sexual health services for men and women from licensed medical professionals. &nbsp;“Open Door has been known for over 20 years as Open Door Pregnancy Care Center, and in 2023 we just changed our name to Open Door Health Services because we're expanding the number of medical services we're offering and in particular beginning a college campus Outreach program,” Kristi Busatti, Open Door Health Services Executive Director, said. &nbsp;&nbsp;According to Busatti, there are 14 colleges within an 80-mile radius of Open-Door Health Services. &nbsp;“It's our desire to partner with those colleges to provide all of our services that we offer in our center on our mobile unit, which is a big RV that will drive around town,” Busatti said. “Our pilot program is HCC, we're partnering with them and we started last week.”&nbsp;Busatti said Open Door went through a big process with HutchCC President Doctor Carter File and the President's Council to receive approval for their partnership.&nbsp;“Every Tuesday at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., our mobile unit is parked in the Student Union parking lot at HCC to offer all of our services.” &nbsp;People can go to the mobile unit on Tuesdays to get tested, then follow-up a week later for their results. Should someone test positive, the free treatment will be available at the mobile unit, making travel to a pharmacy unnecessary.The service is completely free.Free medical services that Open Door Health Services include:&nbsp;Chlamydia testing and treatment. &nbsp;Gonorrhea testing and treatment.&nbsp;Pregnancy testing. &nbsp;Pre-Abortion screening.&nbsp;Medical Ultrasounds. Anne Ruth 
Schroeder passed away on March 30, 2023, in Pocatello, ID. &nbsp;Anne was born
 on March 3, 1931, in Hutchinson, KS to Paul and Marie Esau Stucky. &nbsp;She 
was the third of five children and lived near Pretty Prairie, KS for 6 
years before moving to a farm near Inman, KS. &nbsp;Anne attended Welcome 
School which was a one room schoolhouse through 7th grade and then 
graduated from Inman High School in 1949, where she was very active in 
vocal music and band.

Anne attended Bethel College in North 
Newton, KS for one year where she met her future husband, William (Bill)
 Schroeder of American Falls, ID. &nbsp;She also continued her love for music
 at Bethel by singing and touring with their college chorale.

After college Anne taught grades 1 thru 8
 in a one room school near Whitewater, KS for a year. &nbsp;Bill would come 
help her light the stove on Sunday night, so the room would be warm the 
next day. Anne loved her time teaching and remembered her eleven 
students fondly.

Anne and Bill were married on May 1, 
1951, at Zoar Mennonite Church near Inman, KS. &nbsp;They left for Idaho the 
next day and began 72 years of married life on a ranch between American 
Falls and Aberdeen. &nbsp;Those early years involved lots of work including 
cooking for many hired men, but Anne always found time to be a fun and 
loving mother to their three children. &nbsp;She also was able to continue 
with her love of music, singing at many weddings, funerals, and church 
services. &nbsp;Anne was active throughout her married life at First 
Mennonite Church in Aberdeen as well as in the American Falls community.
 &nbsp;In 2018, Anne and Bill moved to Pocatello.

Anne was someone that embraced life. 
&nbsp;She had many interests and loved to learn new skills. &nbsp;If she didn’t 
know how to do something, she took lessons. &nbsp;She was an excellent 
seamstress and taught many young girls to sew through 4-H. &nbsp;She enjoyed 
golfing, making extensive scrap books, and traveling. &nbsp;Anne traveled 
throughout the United States with Bill and later visited several foreign
 countries. &nbsp;She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, 
and great grandchildren who all brought her much happiness.

For many years, Anne was a member of AF 
Sharps, Hobby Club, and PEO in American Falls and later in Pocatello. 
&nbsp;She treasured those friendships. &nbsp;One of her greatest joys was singing 
with the Camerata Singers of Pocatello for over 25 years touring in 
Great Britain, Scandinavia, Italy, and Germany. &nbsp;Anne also served on the
 Community Concert Board and the Idaho State Civic Symphony Board.&nbsp;

Preceding her in death were her parents,
 Paul and Marie, siblings, Paul Robert Stucky, Ruby Stude Christianson, 
Richard Stucky, and Kathryn Caffrey; brothers in laws, Kenneth Stude, 
Joe Caffrey, Kenneth Schroeder, Clarence Schroeder, and sister-in-law, 
Ann Chrisman.&nbsp;

Ann is survived by her husband of 72 
years, William (Bill) Schroeder, children Susan Combs (Bill Guhl) of 
Hutchinson, KS, Audrey (Jim) Howell of Twin Falls, and Nathan (Michelle)
 Schroeder of Pocatello. &nbsp;Grandchildren include Sarah (Mike) Wirth, 
Benjamin (Candace) Combs, Matthew Schroeder, Rachel (Shawn) Walding, 
Armin Howell (Kelly Wilson), Mark (Kayla) Schroeder, and Beth (Flavio) 
Figueroa and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sister in laws 
Shirley Stucky, Darlene Stucky, Sylvia Schroeder, and Bonnie Kaufman; 
brother in law Bob Christianson, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family will be held at 
Rose Davis Mortuary from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6. Funeral 
services will be held on Friday, April 7, at First Mennonite Church in 
Aberdeen, ID. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with services beginning 
at 11:00 a.m. followed by the burial and a meal.&nbsp; Memorials may be made 
to Kings Daughters of First Mennonite Church which provide support and 
humanitarian aid for people locally and around the world.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Denny Stoecklein with Hutchinson Community College said over 200 employers will be at the annual Career Connections Job Fair Thursday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

"This is going to be the biggest ever," Stoecklein said. "Really, with what we hear about employment out there, that should be no surprise. At last count that I saw, there were 203 employers registered to be at the Sports Arena on Thursday."

After the layoffs at Sonoco Paper and Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, along with the graduating students at area colleges, there is a pool of applicants that are looking for work.

"It's free to attend," Stoecklein said. "We really encourage folks to come out. We've got employers looking for full-time, part-time, internships, high school, college students, this is not just something for our students. This is a community event. We know we have employers coming from not just Hutchinson, but throughout the state."

It would be useful to do research ahead of time, as even if you come prepared and stay the whole four hours, there's no way to get face time with all of the employers that will be there.

"At&nbsp;<a href="https://hutchcc.edu/careerfair">https://hutchcc.edu/careerfair</a>, you can get some resources, if you want a little help putting a resume together, or just get job prep information, plus it provides a list of all the employers who are going to be there," Stoecklein said. "That links to some of the needs they have, so you can dig down and do a little bit of research before you walk in the door Thursday. Do a little bit of prep work, plus, if you've shown you've done some prep work, that will resonate very nicely with potential employers. They know that you're someone who is going to put a little bit of effort into finding the right employment for you that could be for them, as well."

Stoecklein said the entire arena floor and the concourse will have employers on it that you can talk to on Thursday.

Job fair at HutchCC Thursday will set another record

The ending of a 12-game win streak dropped the Hutchinson Community College softball team two spots to No. 15 in the latest NJCAA Division I softball rankings, which were released Monday.

The Blue Dragons, 28-5 overall this season, split their doubleheader Saturday at Colby, falling 7-6 in game one and bouncing back to win game two 8-5. Ranked No. 13 last week in the national poll, the Blue Dragons had won 12 straight games dating back to the doubleheader split at home against the Butler Grizzlies on March 4. The Blue Dragons have been on the road since March 11.

Following this weekend, the Blue Dragons and the now-No. 16 Grizzlies (25-7 overall) are tied for first in the Jayhawk Conference with a league record of 16-2.

The two league leaders meet in El Dorado for a doubleheader at 1p.m. Wednesday at East Park, which will wrap up a four-doubleheader road trip for the Blue Dragons.

Florida Southwestern is the No. 1 team in the nation for the second week in a row. Grayson follows suit at No. 2, and Northwest Florida State is No. 3. Odessa leaped from No. 6 to No. 4.
