Darrell Keith Ediger, 79, of Sterling, died March 28, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born October 23, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Henry and Minnie (Peters) Ediger.

Darrell graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He started working as a carpet apprentice for Wiley’s in 1961, then became a partner in Earl Smith & Co., and then in 1993 started his own business, Ediger Enterprises.

Darrell was a master nationally certified flooring installer who took care of customers ranging from residential to commercial and even the U.S. government. He installed the flooring in Air Force One, the unique custom-made flooring in the Cosmosphere, the hand-sewn carpeting in the Fox Theater, and the flooring in the Crystal Ballroom at the Burt. Darrell also enjoyed teaching people about his craft and taught many others how to install flooring. He also enjoyed woodworking and tinkering on his farm near Sterling.

On October 23, 1978, Darrell married Nadine M. Fitzpatrick, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. She survives.

Also surviving are: his daughters, Terri Ediger (Steve), Jodi Danler (Mike), Leigh Chunn, Amy Sill (Mike); 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Cliff, Gale, and Wes Ediger; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Darrell requested that his body be cremated and no services be held. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, he suggested that donations be made to Cause for Paws, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
