The Jets, Saints and Bears got a head start in their searches because they fired coaches during the season. The Jaguars and Raiders joined the hunt last week. The Cowboys jumped in Monday so they have to wait to interview assistants on playoff teams because the first window passed. News that Deion Sanders and owner Jerry Jones have talked about the position quickly became a hot topic. Sanders has expressed his desire to stay at the University of Colorado, but is intrigued by the possibility of wearing the star again.

Man accused of stalking Caitlin Clark proclaims himself 'guilty as charged' in 1st court appearance

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A man accused of felony stalking of Indiana Fever star and WNBA rookie of the year Caitlin Clark shouted "guilty as charged" in a courtroom on Tuesday. Fifty-five-year-old Michael Thomas Lewis is accused of repeated and continued harassment of the 22-year-old Clark. WISH-TV of Indianapolis reported that Lewis behaved "very erratically" in his first court appearance. Lewis received a no-contact order and the stay-away order sought by prosecutors that bars him from being within 500 feet of either of the two arenas where the Fever play their home games. The court filed a not guilty plea on Lewis' behalf.

Mike Tomlin doesn't feel the Steelers are stuck, but all options are on the table heading into 2025

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin believes he's still capable of leading the team back to prominence. Tomlin says he's disappointed in how Pittsburgh's season ended after they were drubbed in the opening round by the Baltimore Ravens, their third first-round exit in four years. While there will likely be changes on the coaching staff, Tomlin doesn't not think the franchise is "stuck." The Steelers will have plenty of questions to answer during the offseason, most notably at quarterback. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields will be free agents in March. While Tomlin said the team is open to bringing them back, he added the Steelers will explore all options before moving forward.

Australian Open: Naomi Osaka is back in a Slam's 3rd round for the 1st time in 3 years

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Naomi Osaka is back in the third round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time since 2022 and she got there with wins at the Australian Open over two women who blocked her path last year. Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen won't be repeating her surprising run to the Australian Open final after a second-round upset loss to No. 97-ranked Laura Siegemund in his first tournament for 2025. Fifth-seeded Zheng lost last year's final to Aryna Sabalenka and went on to win the Olympic gold medal in Paris and finish runner-up at the WTA Finals in a breakout season. She had no answers for the 36-year-old Siegemund on Wednesday. Two-time defending champion Sabalenka won the last five games to overcome Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

As fires ravage Los Angeles, Tiger Woods isn't sure what will happen with Riviera tournament

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Tiger Woods isn't sure what's going to happen with next month's Genesis Invitational, the PGA Tour event that he hosts in the fire-ravaged Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. He's insisting there should be far bigger concerns. Woods said Tuesday night — after his debut in the TGL indoor golf league that he helped develop — that meetings about what will happen with the tournament are scheduled, but did not reveal any decisions or suggest that the event may be moved from Riviera Country Club.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Tiger Woods was the sixth and final player to emerge from the tunnel and onto the field of play for his TGL debut. No one announced his name. Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" blared and that was more than enough of an introduction for perhaps golf's greatest player ever. It's not like anyone inside SoFi Center at Palm Beach State College didn't know who Woods was. Woods joined Kevin Kisner and Max Homa of Jupiter Links Golf Club to take on the Los Angeles Golf Club of Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala in the league's second match on Tuesday night. Los Angeles won the 15-hole match in a 12-1 rout.

Canadiens' Emil Heineman is out 3-4 weeks after getting hit by a car while walking in Salt Lake City

Montreal Canadiens player Emil Heineman is expected to miss three to four weeks after being hit by a car while walking in downtown Salt Lake City a day before playing at the Utah Hockey Club. The team announced that the 23-year-old Swedish forward was out with an upper-body injury after being involved in a pedestrian accident. Salt Lake City police said officers responded at around 3 p.m. Monday and began an investigation. The Utah Highway Patrol also is looking into the accident. Police said Heineman did not show any signs of serious injuries and was being attended to by team doctors.

NCAA to dole out $1.2B to help pay for House settlement. Its president asks for Congress to step in

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Stressing his own organization's ability to pay out $1.2 billion over 10 years to help settle an industry-changing lawsuit, NCAA President Charlie Baker also urged Congress to pass legislation that could put college sports on a better path. Baker wants lawmakers to pass a bill that would make it harder to sue the organization, eliminate the possibility of players forming unions and bring the industry under the umbrella of one federal law instead of more than 30 that exist among the states.

Texans waive Diontae Johnson, who was released earlier by Ravens after refusing to enter a game

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Texans have waived Diontae Johnson after the beleaguered receiver played just two games for them. Johnson had one reception for 12 yards in Houston's wild-card playoff win over the Chargers on Saturday. He played four games for Baltimore after a trade from Carolina before being suspended for refusing to enter a game and then being released on Dec. 20. He has 4,726 yards receiving in a six-year career that started in Pittsburgh. Texans coach DeMeco Ryans didn't provide any details about why the Texans let him go, simply saying "it didn't work out."

Bayern Munich signs US youngster Bajung Darboe from LAFC

MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich has signed 18-year-old American attacking midfielder Bajung Darboe from LAFC. Bayern says Darboe has signed a "long-term contract" and will join the German club's reserve team. Darboe says "a big dream has come true for me" by joining Bayern. Darboe was born in Gambia and has played twice for the United States under-17 team. He has also played for the reserve teams of LAFC and the Philadelphia Union.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Both Hutch High coaches felt like the Chiefs head coach Andy Reid waiting three weeks to play a game after the severe weather and snow postponements from last week, but there was no sight of rust for either varsity team as Hutch High got the broom out to start 2025 with two convincing wins to sweep Valley Center.

The Salthawk girls earned a 28-22 win over the Hornets by having a strong start to the game with 15 first half points to lead by eight 20-12 at the half and extend the lead to 31-16 going into the final quarter.

2nd year head coach Kalen Hilst was a little worried about another fourth quarter meld down like what happened back on December 20th versus Ark City, but the Salthawks did not let that happen and cruised to their 4th win of the season.

Hutch was led by Kolbie Craft's 11 points as she cashed in on two basket and one opportunities in the second half&nbsp; to score nine of her game high points in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Grace Posh added eight and Kaia Smith had seven as the Salthawks had good, balanced scoring from their starters. Anna Duncan let the Hornets with seven points.

Defense was the name of the game for the Salthawks as they forced 28 Hornet turnovers in total.

If you could bottle up and save whatever the Salthawks had going in the third quarter and use it in future games, it would be ideal as Hutchinson swatted Valley Center 66-40 at the Salthawk Activity Center Tuesday night.

Senior forward Taishaun Govain had his best night as a Salthawk scoring 12 of his game high 22 points in the third quarter but he wasn't alone as Mr. everything Terrell King had nine third quarter points to add to the mix. King had a total of 20 points on the night. Sophomore sensation Lamar Govain added nine points as the Salthawk defense was in lock down mode all night long.

Hutch opened on fire to lead the Hornets 15-6 after the first quarter. Valley Center settled down to play even with the Salthawks in the second quarter to trail by nine at intermission 29-20. But Govain and company blew the doors off the SAC with 27 third quarter points to cruise the rest of the way for their 4th win of the season. Hutch only loss was on opening night to the Maize Eagles.

Levi Kepler controlled the glass for the Salhawks while King and T. Govain took care of the scoring.

It was only the second loss of the season for Valley Center after losing a two point game at home to Derby last week.

The Salthawk next game will be Friday night at home as the Great Bend Panthers come to town. Girls tip time is 6pm followed by the boy's at 7:30pm. Grace Posh added eight and Kaia Smith had seven as the Salthawks had good, balanced scoring from their starters. Anna Duncan let the Hornets with seven points.Defense was the name of the game for the Salthawks as they forced 28 Hornet turnovers in total.Boys Recap:If you could bottle up and save whatever the Salthawks had going in the third quarter and use it in future games, it would be ideal as Hutchinson swatted Valley Center 66-40 at the Salthawk Activity Center Tuesday night.Senior forward Taishaun Govain had his best night as a Salthawk scoring 12 of his game high 22 points in the third quarter but he wasn't alone as Mr. everything Terrell King had nine third quarter points to add to the mix. Sophomore sensation Lamar Govain added nine points as the Salthawk defense was in lock down mode all night long.Hutch opened on fire to lead the Hornets 15-6 after the first quarter. Valley Center settled down to play even with the Salthawks in the second quarter to trail by nine at intermission 29-20. But Govain and company blew the doors off the SAC with 27 third quarter points to cruise the rest of the way for their 4th win of the season. Hutch only loss was on opening night to the Maize Eagles.Levi Kepler controlled the glass for the Salhawks while King and T. Govain took care of the scoring.It was only the second loss of the season for Valley Center after losing a two point game at home to Derby last week.The Salthawk next game will be Friday night at home as the Great Bend Panthers come to town. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes had his mind on the playoffs even as he was awaiting the arrival of his third child.

The Chiefs quarterback said Tuesday that his wife, Brittany, let him watch some of the wild-card games Sunday while they were waiting for her to give birth. She wound up delivering their second daughter,&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/patrick-brittany-mahomes-baby-chiefs-nfl-playoffs-48967dce27451d5c67c822f165cc6177">which they named Golden Raye,</a>&nbsp;to go along with 3-year-old daughter Sterling and a 2-year-old son that they nicknamed Bronze.

“Brittany crushed it,” Mahomes said before heading out to practice for Saturday's divisional-round matchup against Houston, which&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/texans-chargers-score-5a108d64ad9775007e5b4baade32bcf8">blew out the Chargers</a>&nbsp;in the wild-card round. "It's been cool to welcome another baby girl to the family and see how my other kids reacted to her, and have a baby sister and stuff like that. So it's been a lot of fun.

“And,” Mahomes added, “it was cool that football was on TV while I was in the hospital, so I was able to watch a little bit.”

Mahomes, a self-described football junkie, was happy the schedule worked out for him. The&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-broncos-chargers-west-nfl-playoffs-ce1fccd9eacb64a76e1867d94086242b">Chiefs clinched the No. 1 seed</a>&nbsp;and a first-round bye before their Week 18 game in Denver, which Mahomes sat out with many of their best players. And that meant he was able to focus on the arrival of his child rather than worrying about a first-round playoff opponent.

Asked whether baby No. 3 was easier than the first two, Mahomes offered a wise husband-turned-father reply: “I don't even want to say that because, like, Brittany's doing everything.”

“It was cool that we got the bye, just because you can kind of really focus in on just being at the hospital, being in the moment,” he added. “It's a special moment that a lot of dads and moms experience. And you don't forget that stuff.”

Now, the two-time NFL MVP can focus on making some more memories. The Chiefs are trying to become the first team to win three consecutive Lombardi Trophies. They were early 8 1/2-point favorites to beat the Texans, according to the BetMGM Sportsbook, and have the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl behind Detroit, the top seed in the NFC.

“I think every year is special,” Mahomes said. “Obviously you want to win three in a row and build those memories with the guys and the community. But every single year is special. And when I look back at all the different Super Bowls that we've won, I look back at special moments that we've had and special games that we've had. And so, we'll try to do the same this year.”

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown could launch a book club of his own after a little sideline reading skyrocketed self-help author Jim Murphy overnight to the hottest seller on Amazon. The Eagles wide receiver passed on the playbook and checked out an inspirational title — Brown casually ignored the action in Philadelphia's playoff game and flipped through the pages of Murphy's book, "Inner Excellence." The little-known book by the mental skills coach was listed No. 1 on Amazon's best sellers list as of Monday morning. It jumped to the top spot after previously being ranked 523,497th. Texas man charged with stalking WNBA and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark

A 55-year-old Texas man has been charged with felony stalking Indiana Fever star and WNBA rookie of the year Caitlin Clark. Marion County prosecutors wrote in a court filing Saturday that Michael Thomas Lewis is accused of repeated and continued harassment of the 22-year-old Clark. Authorities say Clark posted numerous messages — some sexually threatening — on Clark's X account. Prosecutors wrote in the filing Clark felt terrorized, frightened, intimidated and threatened as a result. The FBI learned the X account belonged to Lewis and that the messages were sent from IP addresses at an Indianapolis hotel and downtown public library. Jail records show Lewis is due in court on Tuesday.

Philadelphia mayor announces new plan to keep 76ers arena in South Philadelphia, pursue WNBA team

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia 76ers will partner with Comcast Spectacor to build a new arena in South Philadelphia and abandon a deal to move downtown. The stunning news comes as a relief to critics of the plan to put a $1.3 billion arena between City Hall and Chinatown. Mayor Cherelle Parker on Monday calls it "a curveball," but also "a win, win, win, win for Philadelphia." But some critics and city council members sat they feel betrayed after two years of fraught negotiations. Sixers owners say they will also work with Comcast and the city to pursue a WNBA team.

DENVER (AP) — The&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/broncos-season-wrapup-nix-payton-b2593dd576936f77873176ae24350c97">Denver Broncos</a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chargers-season-wrapup-harbaugh-1efa14152cb290aec5b399b5643065ca">Los Angeles Chargers</a>&nbsp;felt good about their chances heading into the playoffs in large part because they had played the reigning&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kansas-city-chiefs-nfl-playoffs-6f7dbffff1f69e7b31277850fa6626b3">two-time Super Bowl</a>&nbsp;champion Kansas City Chiefs so tough this season.

Their wipeouts in the wild-card round show they're not as close to overtaking the Chiefs as they may have thought.

The Broncos (10-8) would have swept Kansas City (15-2) were it not for a blocked field goal as time expired in Week 10 that preserved the Chiefs' 16-14 escape at Arrowhead, and Denver ended its eight-year playoff drought with a 38-0 shutout of K.C.'s backups in Week 18.

If not for that fluke failure from his field goal protection unit, Sean Payton would be 3-1 against Kansas City since becoming Broncos head coach, and Jim Harbaugh was really close to going 2-0 against Andy Reid this season.

The Chargers (11-7) lost by two and seven points to K.C., which won its ninth consecutive AFC West crown in its quest for an unprecedented three-peat as Super Bowl champs.

The&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/texans-chargers-score-5a108d64ad9775007e5b4baade32bcf8">Chargers face-planted 32-12 at Houston</a>&nbsp;on Saturday after taking a 6-0 lead into the second quarter, and the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/broncos-bills-playoffs-score-0519472b100dbacf96e8204dba436ffb">Broncos were blown out 31-7 at Buffalo</a>&nbsp;after grabbing a 7-0 lead just five snaps into the game.

The remaining teams — Baltimore, Buffalo and Houston — in the AFC field all could pose stiff challenges to the Chiefs. But Patrick Mahomes is 15-3 in the playoffs, has won his last seven postseason starts and is 4-0 against the AFC quarterbacks remaining in the playoffs.

Josh Allen is 0-3 against Mahomes in the playoffs and 6-2 against everybody else. Lamar Jackson is 0-1 against Mahomes and 3-3 against others, and Stroud is 2-1 and will face Mahomes for the first time in the postseason Saturday, when Mahomes and several other starters will be coming off a whopping 24 days' rest.

The Ravens and Bills meet in the other divisional round game while the Chargers and Broncos both look toward next season and ponder the painful lessons learned from their early exits.

Though not nearly as strong as the NFC North, which produced the 15-2 Lions, 14-3 Vikings and 11-6 Packers, all playoff teams, the AFC West sent three teams to the postseason for the first time since 2013.

“One of the things we learned early on is we got to find a way to play these games at home,” coach Sean Payton said.

That would mean upending the Chiefs, who have owned the division ever since Peyton Manning retired in 2016 and have averaged almost 13 wins a season since Mahomes became their starter in 2018.

So, how close are the Broncos to knocking the Chiefs from their pedestal? Several players who were cleaning out their lockers Monday said they felt they were close, although one thought it was a gotcha question.

“I mean, if you look at us, we were in all those games, every single one of them,” left tackle Garett Bolles said of the Broncos' 3-3 divisional record that included a sweep of Las Vegas and a pair of seven-point losses to the Chargers. “None of them were blowouts. We're right there. I think that we need to get some more playmakers but everything we have in this locker room, the core value, is here.

“The sky's the limit for us and I think we're going to be exactly where we want to be.”

Asked how close he felt the Broncos were to catching the Chiefs, right guard Quinn Meinerz, fresh off his first All-Pro season, was having none of it.

“You're already assuming the Chiefs,” he retorted.

Well, they have won nine consecutive division titles, second most ever behind the New England Patriots' 11-year dominance of the AFC East from 2009-19 under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

“We're not even on to the next season yet,” Meinerz interjected. “I mean, I can't predict any of that. We just got done playing in the playoffs. I think that's kind of a, kind of baiting question to ask, to be honest."

“This is all speculation and I'm not here to speculate,” Meinerz said. “I'm here to talk about what we just accomplished and not necessarily speculate on the future.”

He'll leave it to his coach to talk about supplanting Kansas City next season, by which time the Chiefs might just have another Lombardi Trophy glistening in their trophy case.

Bolstered by a five-game winning streak, the Hutchinson Community College men’s basketball team is showing back up in the discussion for the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Rankings.

The first poll of 2025 was released on Monday and the Blue Dragons are 1 of 13 teams in the receiving votes list.

The Blue Dragons got back into the rankings’ picture with a pair of victories over Top 10 opponents since the last poll release on December 16. Hutchinson defeated then-No. 6 Cowley 70-62 at the Sports Arena on January 4 and followed that with a 73-70 road win at No. 5 Butler on January 8.

Saturday’s 87-77 win at Pratt upped the Blue Dragons’ overall record to 11-5 overall and 7-3 in the Jayhawk Conference. Hutchinson plays host to Seward County on Wednesday and travels to Dodge City on Saturday in action this week.

Hutchinson started the season ranked No. 15 in the preseason rankings and stayed at No. 15 after one week. The Dragons dropped to receiving votes in Week 2 and were unranked in the final four weeks of the 2024 half of the schedule.

In addition to the Blue Dragons in the receiving votes list, four KJCCC teams are ranked in the Top 25 and are bunched together.

Cowley (15-2) is No. 9, followed by Butler (13-3) at No. 11, Coffeyville (13-3) at No. 12 and Barton (13-3) at No. 13.

Snow College received 14 of the 16 available first-place votes and is No. 1 for a second-straight poll. Trinity Valley is No. 2. NEO jumps from No. 8 to No. 3, while Indian Hills goes from No. 9 to No. 4. New Mexico Junior College rounds out the Top 5.

🏀 Blue Dragon men receiving votes in national poll

Going 5-0 since the last poll release on December 16, the Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team maintained its No. 1 spot NJCAA Division I National Rankings for the seventh-straight 2024-25 polling period on Monday.

Since returning to action for the second semester, the Blue Dragons have defeated Cowley (72-70), Butler (57-53) and Pratt (92-47) to improve to 16-0 and remain one of four undefeated teams in the nation. No. 2 Northwest Florida State (17-0), No. 8 Chipola (19-0) and No. 10 McLennan (13-0) are the other unbeaten teams.

The Blue Dragons have been ranked No. 1 in 13 consecutive polls dating back to last season and have been ranked in 22 consecutive polls and 181 of the last 203 polls.Hutchinson plays host to Seward County on Wednesday and then travels to No. 3 Dodge City on Saturday.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals today announced promotions to their baseball operations staff. Colin Gonzales has been promoted to the Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting, Brandon Nelson is now the Assistant Director of Research and Development and Michael Cifuentes has been promoted to Assistant Director of Research and Development/Player Personnel. Alan Kohler is now the Senior Analyst of Research and Development. Justin Hahn has been promoted to Director of Minor League Physical Therapy/Assistant Major League Physical Therapist and Brittany Bozzini is now the Director of Performance Science. Drew Epperson has been promoted to Assistant Major League Video Coordinator.

Gonzales is entering his 19th season with the Royals and has spent the last five years as the West Regional Supervisor. He was an Area Scout for the previous 11 years, covering North Florida from 2009-12, Southern California in 2013 and Southern California and Hawaii from 2014-19. Prior to that, he was the Cultural Development Coordinator in 2008 after joining the organization as a Baseball Operations Intern in 2007.

Nelson is entering his sixth season with the organization and his promotion follows one year as the Royals Coordinator of Research and Development/Pitching Development. He previously served as the Royals Analyst for Research &amp; Development/Player Development for two seasons after joining the organization in 2020 as a Player Development Coach in Omaha.

Cifuentes is in his second stint with the Royals after returning to the club in 2024 as a Senior Analyst. He spent the 2023 season with the Boston Red Sox as the Coordinator of Baseball Strategy/Personnel. Prior to his time with the Red Sox, Cifuentes worked eight seasons with the Royals from 2015-22, serving as an Analytics Intern in 2015, Assistant to Baseball Operations from 2016-17 and Director of Professional Scouting from 2018-22. He completed internships with the Washington Nationals and New York Mets before joining the Royals.

Kohler is entering his fourth season with the organization and has spent each of the last three years as an Analyst of Research and Development. He joined the organization in May 2022, the same month he graduated from Georgia Tech, where he studied physics with minors in astrophysics and computer science. In 2021, he was a Data Analyst for the Wenatchee AppleSox of the West Coast League.

This season will mark Hahn’s 13th with the Royals and he’s served as the Director of Minor League Medican Services/Physical Therapist for each of the last three years, after spending eight seasons as the Minor League Rehab Coordinator. Hahn earned his doctorate in physical therapy in 2011 from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in Rochester, Minn. After graduating, Hahn completed the 2011-12 sports physical therapy residency at the Institute for Athletic Medicine in Minneapolis. Following residency, he completed the 2012-2013 Proaxis Therapy and Kansas City Royals Upper Extremity Sports Physical Therapy/Professional Baseball Fellowship in Surprise, Ariz. Hahn is dual board certified as both a sports and orthopedic specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

Bozzini is entering her fourth season with the Royals after serving as the Manager of Performance Science in 2024. She was the Coordinator of Performance Science in 2023 and Assistant of Performance Science in 2022. Before joining the Royals, Bozzini served for more than a year as an ORISE Postdoctoral Fellow in the Military Performance Division at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine in Natick, Mass. Prior to that, she was a Sport Scientist at the University of South Carolina Sport Science Lab and a Sport Scientist and Strength &amp; Conditioning Coach at Rutgers IFNH Center for Health and Human Performance.

Epperson is entering his fourth season with the Royals after spending three seasons from 2022-24 as the club’s Video Trainee. He graduated in 2021 from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he was a student manager for the school’s baseball team.

The biggest question facing the Kansas City Chiefs as they resume their quest to become the first team ever to win three consecutive Super Bowls is whether 3 1/2 weeks' rest will result in too much rust.

Patrick Mahomes and most of Kansas City's other stars last played on Christmas Day, when they walloped the Pittsburgh Steelers to secure the AFC's top seed and lone first-round bye.

The Chiefs (15-2) rested their regulars in their season finale at Denver and the Broncos ended an eight-year playoff drought with an emphatic 38-0 win, delivering Andy Reid's first shutout in his 12 seasons as Chiefs head coach and handing him just the fourth overall of his 26-year NFL head coaching career.

That also marked the second-biggest blowout of a Reid-coached team, behind only a 42-0 whitewash at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks in 2005 while he was coaching the Philadelphia Eagles.

That may have stung Reid and the Chiefs a bit but it hardly mattered — and maybe their prolonged break won't, either. Reid is 29-5 in his career after a bye, including 7-1 in the playoffs following rest in Round 1, 3-0 with Philadelphia and 4-1 with Kansas City.

The Chiefs matchup in the divisional round will be on Saturday against the Houston Texans at 3:30 p.m. at GEHA Field at Arrowhead. The Texans won over the Chargers 32-12 this past weekend to advance to the divisional round. 

The last home date for Kansas City was against Houston back on Dec. 21. The Chiefs won that one 27-19.

The book is described on the cover as one that will "Train your mind for extraordinary performance and the best possible life."

Jannik Sinner starts his Australian Open title defense with a straight set win

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Jannik Sinner has started his Australian Open title defense with a challenging win over No. 35-ranked Nicolas Jarry. The 23-year-old Italian had plenty of support in the crowd at Rod Laver Arena in two tough early sets before extending his winning streak to 15 matches. Top-ranked Sinner entered his first Grand Slam title defense with attention from last year's doping case on his mind. Third-seeded Coco Gauff opened her Australian Open with a 6-3, 6-3 win over 2020 champion Sofia Kenin. Gauff won the title at the WTA Finals last November and started this season by helping the U.S. to victory at the United Cup in Sydney.

His Grand Slam breakthrough came at Melbourne Park in 2019, when he made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Rafael Nadal. Nick Taylor wins another playoff with clutch play on the 18th in the Sony Open

HONOLULU (AP) — Nick Taylor is the winner of the Sony Open and he's not even sure how it happened. The Canadian was never in the mix until chipping in for eagle on the 18th hole for a 65 that got him into a playoff with Nico Echavarria. On the second extra hole, Taylor hit a marvelous pitch from 46 yards to 3 feet for birdie. Echavarria three-putted from 40 feet. Taylor now has won his last three PGA Tour events in a playoff. Stephan Jaeger and J.J. Spaun led most of the day until making critical mistakes that left them one back.

New England hires former Patriots Super Bowl champ Mike Vrabel as coach

The New England Patriots have hired Mike Vrabel as their head coach. The move comes after Patriots owner Robert Kraft fired Jerod Mayo after the team's season finale victory over the Buffalo Bills to finish 4-13 in his lone season as coach. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton and Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson also interviewed for the job. “I don’t think there was one certain thing over another. We just wanted to come out and execute well,” Allen said. “At the end of the day, we just wanted to come out and play our best football, and I feel like we did that today.”

With Allen completing 20 of 26 attempts for 272 yards passing and two touchdowns, and the running game combining for 210 yards, Buffalo methodically wore down the Broncos by scoring on six of its first seven drives in a game where the Bills finished with a 23-minute edge in time of possession.

I mean they handled us pretty good the first go around and they’re certainly playing well.”The seventh-seeded Broncos were outclassed in their first playoff appearance since their Super Bowl-winning season in 2015.Denver’s offense essentially stalled after rookie Bo Nix capped a five-play opening drive with a&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/NFLonCBS/status/1878504209831600380">43-yard touchdown pass to former college teammate Troy Franklin</a>. Nix finished 13 of 22 for 144 yards in an outing where Denver punted four times and turned the ball over on downs twice.The game served as a lesson in how much further the first-round pick and the Broncos still have to go after a promising season in which Nix threw 29 touchdown passes — two short of the NFL rookie record.“I’m really proud of these guys. We’ve overcome a lot and not really been counted in many games,” Nix said. “But to make the playoffs was a special moment for this group. It’s something we can build off of. ... Our goals are changing.”Meantime, the Broncos attacking defense was kept at bay by an Allen-led attack that was more than content in gaining small chunks of yards on lengthy time-consuming drives. That’s what it’s all about.”Though the Bills didn't force a takeaway, they made impactful plays in limiting the Broncos to convert just two of nine third down opportunities.And then there was Cam Lewis' diving tackle in shoving running back Jaleel McLaughlin out of bounds for no gain on fourth-and-2 at the Buffalo 14 early in the fourth quarter.With Buffalo leading 13-7, Allen broke the game open with his touchdown pass to Johnson with 3:06 left in the third quarter. The score held up following a replay review, which showed Johnson’s foot touching out of bounds but after he secured the ball.“You tell me it’s complete, I’m going to sign up for it every week,” McDermott said in placing his faith in Allen to convert on fourth down. “You guys know that. I trust him and I believe in him.”Allen's touchdown to Samuel came on Buffalo's next possession.Cook became Buffalo’s first player to top 100 yards rushing in a playoff game since Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas had 158 yards rushing in a 1995 wild-card playoff win over Miami.
