
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Buhler swept the team championships Wednesday at the Class 4-1A Regional bowling tournament at The Alley, sending both Crusader squads to the state tournament.
The Buhler boys claimed the regional title with a 2,981 total, combining a 2,221 traditional score with a 760 Baker set. McPherson finished second at 2,758 with a 2,050 traditional score and 708 in Baker games. Both teams advance to the Class 4-1A state tournament Friday, March 6 at Bowlero Northrock in Wichita.
Hesston placed third at 2,664 with a 2,027 traditional score and 637 Baker total. Holcomb was fourth at 2,321 and Solomon fifth at 2,246. Moundridge placed seventh with 779.
Buhler was powered by five bowlers over 500. Nate Nugent led the Crusaders with a 615 series (233, 191, 191). Kadin Glass added 526 (133, 202, 191), Collin Schwarzkopf rolled 524 (164, 173, 187), Stryker Avery shot 519 (185, 158, 176), and Logan Brown finished at 488 (170, 142, 176). Jackson Sponsel contributed 407 (131, 123, 153).
McPherson placed three bowlers above 500. Rayce Stiggins led with a 541 series (167, 220, 154). Brody Hutts rolled 513 (169, 154, 190) and Bentley Konen added 512 (187, 167, 158). Carsen Bruce had 448 and Clayton Sloup finished at 433.
Hesston’s Tanner McAllister posted the top individual series of the day at 673 (186, 254, 233). Because the Swathers did not qualify as a team, McAllister advances to state as the top individual non-team qualifier. Teammate Mario Murillo also qualified individually with a 502 series (159, 176, 167).
Moundridge’s top finisher was Larson Tegethoff with a 415 series (149, 136, 130).
On the girls side, Buhler also captured the regional championship with a 2,286 total, made up of a 1,785 traditional score and 501 Baker games. McPherson finished second at 1,703 with 1,328 traditional and 375 Baker. Both teams advance to state.

Holcomb was third at 1,154, Solomon fourth at 952, Lindsborg-Smoky Valley fifth at 441 and Sacred Heart sixth at 206.
Aubrey Ewing led Buhler with a 468 series (166, 158, 144). Macy Miller followed with 451 (148, 135, 168), Cheyann Geesling rolled 443 (151, 157, 135), and Cora Nuttmann added 409 (125, 174, 110). Baylee Krase finished at 359 and Keelee Bryant at 329.
McPherson was led by Ryla Skelton’s 370 (104, 110, 156). Gianna Bedoff rolled 320, McKenzie French had 294, Taylor Hafenstine 292, Ali Stevens 301 and Jerzie Sullivan 236.
The Class 4-1A state tournament will be held Friday, March 6 at Bowlero Northrock in Wichita.
