The Salthawks will open tournament play with St. James Academy at 4:35 p.m. from the McPherson High School Roundhouse.

Buffalo lost a day after a snowstorm pushed back its playoff opener against Pittsburgh from Sunday to Monday. Advocates say the ban would protect kids from the risk of brain injury. But opponents say the ban would have cut off kids from a source of activity and exercise.

📢📰 Sports Headlines for Thursday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes has done just about everything in his NFL career, particularly when it comes to the postseason.

Five straight AFC title games. Three conference championships. Two Super Bowl titles.&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/mahomes-helmet-shattered-playoffs-213e5effa42271b79287dedf203dcba5">One shattered helmet.</a>

Mahomes will try something entirely new Sunday night, though, when he leads the Kansas City Chiefs into Buffalo for the divisional round of the playoffs. His previous 15 postseason games have been played in the friendly environment of Arrowhead Stadium, including a pair of wins over the Bills, so Mahomes never has been&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/bills-chiefs-allen-mahomes-eagles-buccaneers-steelers-ravens-texans-0087d90314c3a29ddfa7bb23e11d0dcf">forced to go on the road</a>.

“It kind of is what it is,” he said Wednesday. “I've been lucky enough to play a lot of games at home, at Arrowhead Stadium, and things have fallen that way. Now we get to go on the road to a hostile environment, and one I have not played in with fans in the stands. But it's what you want to do when you grow up watching these games.”

The only time Mahomes has played at Highmark Stadium was in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic saved him from having to tune out all of those Bills fans. He threw for 225 yards and two TDs in leading Kansas City to a 26-17 win that day.

The reason the Chiefs are hitting the road following&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-dolphins-bills-steelers-nfl-playoffs-cold-snow-weather-b49dba3f4fdeeae8f023a7408b53296e">their wild-card win over the Dolphins</a>&nbsp;is in part because of a rare offensive offside penalty on Kadarius Toney in their regular-season game against Buffalo last month. The call wiped out a miraculous play in which Travis Kelce lateraled to Toney for what would have been the go-ahead touchdown in the final minutes.

The&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/buffalo-bills-kansas-city-chiefs-score-2d06e013bc05d875cc226072a0e470e5">Bills wound up winning</a>, eventually secured the No. 2 seed and that relegated Kansas City to the No. 3 seed.

It might not be such a bad thing that Mahomes is going on the road, though. He has a higher completion percentage, throws for more yards per game and has a significantly better quarterback rating during road games in his career.

He's even taken eight fewer sacks away from home, despite playing in two more games.

Asked to explain that one, Mahomes replied: “It's just Coach (Andy) Reid preaches communication.”

“You have to have nonverbal communication when you're on the road. We preach that,” Mahomes continued, “and then not letting anything be too negative or too positive, just going about your business the right way.

“On the road,” he said, "one big plays seems to be magnified more, and one bad play is magnified more, too.”

All of that bodes well for the Chiefs. So does this: Mahomes is better in the divisional round than any other round, going 5-0 with 11 touchdowns, no interceptions and a completion rate of 70% that is well above his career average.

“I know he looks forward to playing. He gets fired up for every game,” Reid said. “That's a great venue up there (in Buffalo). If you can't get fired up for that, it's hard to get fired up. But he's always ready and excited.”

Mahomes has certainly been a problem for the Bills, but mostly in the postseason. He won that pandemic game at Highmark Stadium, but is winless in three tries against Josh Allen and Co. in regular-season games at Arrowhead Stadium.

The playoffs are another story. He has ended Buffalo's season in two of the past three years.

The first time came during the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/reigning-champion-chiefs-dump-bills-38-24-in-afc-title-game-d6f4334e89b9c54f70bf16d0758a6492">AFC championship game in the 2020 season</a>, when he went 29 of 38 for 325 yards with three touchdowns and no picks in a 38-24 romp. Two Super Bowl titles.&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/mahomes-helmet-shattered-playoffs-213e5effa42271b79287dedf203dcba5">One shattered helmet.</a>Mahomes will try something entirely new Sunday night, though, when he leads the Kansas City Chiefs into Buffalo for the divisional round of the playoffs. His previous 15 postseason games have been played in the friendly environment of Arrowhead Stadium, including a pair of wins over the Bills, so Mahomes never has been&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/bills-chiefs-allen-mahomes-eagles-buccaneers-steelers-ravens-texans-0087d90314c3a29ddfa7bb23e11d0dcf">forced to go on the road</a>.“It kind of is what it is,” he said Wednesday. “I've been lucky enough to play a lot of games at home, at Arrowhead Stadium, and things have fallen that way. Now we get to go on the road to a hostile environment, and one I have not played in with fans in the stands. But it's what you want to do when you grow up watching these games.”The only time Mahomes has played at Highmark Stadium was in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic saved him from having to tune out all of those Bills fans. He has a higher completion percentage, throws for more yards per game and has a significantly better quarterback rating during road games in his career.He's even taken eight fewer sacks away from home, despite playing in two more games.Asked to explain that one, Mahomes replied: “It's just Coach (Andy) Reid preaches communication.”“You have to have nonverbal communication when you're on the road. 🏈 Chiefs' Mahomes hitting the road for first time in the playoffs to play Buffalo

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 14-ranked HutchCC men's basketball team saw its four-game win streak come to an end on Wednesday, losing to No. 6 Barton, 102-80 inside the Sports Arena.

Hutchinson (14-3, 9-2 KJCCC) struggled to knock down shots early in the game, while Barton built a double-digit lead and never looked back. The Blue Dragons went scoreless for over five minutes in the opening&nbsp; half.

J.P. Ricks led the way for the Blue Dragons with a career-high 22 points, while Dre Weathers had 17. Kobe Smith chipped in 14 off the bench and Tino Simon finished with 10.

Barton (16-1, 10-1) shot 54 percent from the floor, while knocking down 26-of-34 from the free-throw line. The Cougars also out-rebounded the Blue Dragons, 43-34.&nbsp;

Hutchinson also got to the foul line often, hitting 25-of-30 from the charity stripe.

The Cougars were led by Keandre Kindell with 22 points off the bench, while Myles Thompson finished with 19. Cooper Jackson (14 points), Christian Bowen-Webb (11 points) and Lajae Jones (10 points) all finished in double figures, as well.

🏀 MBB: HutchCC drops Top 15 clash to Barton

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 5-ranked HutchCC women's basketball team pulled away late to get past Barton, 74-64 on Wednesday evening at the Sports Arena.

Bree Horyna hit 4-of-4 free throws in the final minute to help Hutchinson (17-0, 11-0 KJCCC) pick up the win. Horyna scored 13 points and dished off three assists, while also going 5-of-5 from the foul line.&nbsp;

Hutchinson led by two after the first quarter (18-16), four at halftime (32-28), and two after three quarters (38-36).

The Blue Dragons knocked down a season-high 13 3-pointers in the win, while attempting a season-high 38 from behind the arc.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hutchinson was led in scoring by Kiki Smith with 17 points, one of five Blue Dragons in double-figure scoring. Hailey Jackson (12 points, 8 rebounds), Journey Armstead (12 points, 4 steals, 3 assists) and Akaysha Muggeridge (10 points, 6 assists, 3 steals) each joined Smith and Horyna in double figures.

The Blue Dragons knocked down 10-of-16 shots in the field goal to finish the game 41 percent from the floor (27-of-66).&nbsp;

Barton (12-5, 7-4) shot 53 percent from the field (22-of-41) and 6-of-14 from behind the arc. The Cougars were led by Quezia Bertoni with 17 points, while Vivian Onugha added 16 points.

Hutchinson won the battle on the boards, out-rebounding the Cougars, 30-28. The Blue Dragons finished the game with 22 assists on 27 made field goals.

Per Conference rule, the member institution unable to field a team will forfeit the contest if no extraordinary circumstances exist. As a result, K-State's Big 12 record improves to 6-0.&nbsp;Per NCAA policy, the game is determined to be a no contest and K-State's overall record remains at 17-1 and its current winning streak remains at 11 consecutive games.

The Wildcats are 6-0 in Big 12 play for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

K-State returns to Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday, as the Wildcats host Kansas for the Dillons Sunflower Showdown at 1 p.m. Halftime of Saturday's game will feature a performance from the Fargo-Moorhead Acro Team. The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team meets one of its biggest rivals in a Top 15 national matchup on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.

Now up to No. 14 in the NJCAA Division I national rankings, the Blue Dragons (14-2, 9-1 Jayhawk Conference) play host to the No. 6-ranked Barton Cougars (15-1, 9-1) at 7:30 p.m.

The game will be broadcast on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 7:15 p.m. with Glen Grunwald (PBP) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action. The game will be steamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 7:15 p.m.

The last time the Blue Dragons and Cougars met with both teams inside the Top 15 of the NJCAA national rankings was February 14, 2018 when Hutchinson was No. 14 and Barton No. 10. The teams met as ranked teams in the first meeting last season - Hutchinson was No. 9 and Barton was No. 21.

The Blue Dragons open a rare conference three-game homestand on Wednesday. After the battle with the Cougars, Hutchinson takes on high-scoring Garden City on Saturday and then will open the second half of the Jayhawk Conference season with Dodge City on Wednesday, January 24. The Blue Dragons are 9-1 at the Sports Arena this season.

Hutchinson improved to 5-0 in true road games this season after last Saturday's 92-78 victory at Coffeyville.

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/mbkb/2023-24/bios/thomas_kamryn_j9zm">Kamryn Thomas</a>&nbsp;keyed a 26-6 first-half run that broke the game open. The Blue Dragons led 53-30 at halftime. Thomas finished with five 3-pointers and a career-high 25 points, while&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/mbkb/2023-24/bios/simon_valentino_8svq">Valentino Simon</a>&nbsp;had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. J.P. Ricks broke out of a brief scoring slump with 21 points and six assists. The Blue Dragons shot 56.3 percent against the Red Ravens, marking the third-straight game they have shot 50 percent or better.

Since returning from the holiday break, the Blue Dragons have been strong defensively allowing only 59.0 points and 40.3 percent shooting over the last four games.

Barton has reeled off six consecutive victories and are 9-1 in its last 10 games.

Myles Thompson has 21 points on 9 of 13 shooting to lead Barton to a 95-75 KJCCC victory over Dodge City on Saturday at Great Bend. The Cougars shot 54.1 percent for the game and had 46 points in the paint to Dodge City's 22.

Wednesday's matchup will be the 124th in series history that started in 1970. The Blue Dragons own a 91-32 series advantage. Barton has won the last three games in the series.

🏀 MBB: Blue Dragons meet Barton in top 15 battle Wednesday

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Hunter Dickinson believes Kansas' offense is starting to reach its potential.

The 7-foot-2 center had 21 points and seven rebounds, and the third-ranked Jayhawks rolled past Oklahoma State 90-66 on Tuesday night.

In front of a crowd that was maybe half full and included a significant number of Kansas fans, the Jayhawks shot 62% and never trailed.

“We were kind of due for one of these wins where we build an early lead and maintain it throughout the game," Dickinson said. "We’re very talented, and I think it was just a matter of time before we put the offense together and everybody just had a really good game at once. I think we just did a really good job of not getting complacent.”

Kevin McCullar Jr. scored 18 points and KJ Adams Jr. scored 16 for the Jayhawks (15-2, 3-1 Big 12).

Johnny Furphy matched a season high by scoring all 15 of his points in the first half for Kansas. The 6-9 freshman guard from Australia also had seven rebounds in just his third start.

“I think Johnny’s done a really good job these past couple of games when he’s been in the starting lineup just being confident and being himself," Dickinson said. "I think the four vets are just looking for him to go out there and play his game.”

Bryce Thompson led Oklahoma State with 20 points. The former Kansas guard surpassed 1,000 career points after entering the night with 986.

Javon Small, Oklahoma State's season leader with nearly 15 points per game, finished with two on 1-for-10 shooting as the Cowboys (8-9, 0-4) dropped their fourth straight.

Oklahoma State was winless in the conference, but they had taken then-No. 18 Baylor to overtime in their last home game on Jan. 6. And the Cowboys had registered home wins against the Jayhawks in 2018 and 2021 under coach Mike Boynton.

Kansas took control of this one early, shooting a blistering 67.7% from the field in the first half to take a 48-33 lead at the break.

Late in the first half,&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/AustinCEckert/status/1747452481607455044?s=20">Nicolas Timberlake dunked on Thompson</a>&nbsp;to give Kansas a 46-27 edge.

“That was a great play,” Furphy said. “I passed that ahead. I didn’t fully expect him to get up that high, but I heard Kev (McCullar) scream out, ‘Dunk that!'”

Thompson hit a 3-pointer as time expired in the first half to cut Kansas' lead to 15 at the break.

The Jayhawks kept the pressure on, and their largest lead was 28 points in the second half.

"We lost to a really good team that played well tonight,” Boynton said. “That’s really the bottom line, and for us we’ve got to figure out what we want to have as the identity and the legacy of this particular team. And we need to have those answers before Saturday when we play again.”

Kansas: The Jayhawks followed their school-record low two-turnover performance against Oklahoma by producing 21 assists to 11 turnovers against the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State: The Cowboys scored just 42 points on 32% shooting in a loss at Iowa State on Saturday, then shot 40% against Kansas.

Kansas: Visits West Virginia on Saturday.

🏀 MBB: Hunter Dickinson scores 21 as No. 3 Kansas cruises past Oklahoma State

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Kansas State's magic in overtime games under head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/jerome-tang/2353">Jerome Tang</a>&nbsp;continued Tuesday night, as the Wildcats ended the game on a 9-0 run, highlighted by junior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/arthur-kaluma/11226">Arthur Kaluma's</a>&nbsp;4-point play with 20 seconds left, to collect a 68-64 overtime win over No. 9/9 Baylor before 10,055 fans at Bramlage Coliseum.

K-State (13-4, 3-1 Big 12) are now 10-0 in overtime games under Tang, including 5-0 this season. The 5 overtime wins tie the school record for the second consecutive season and third time overall. The 10 total overtime wins are the third-most by a head coach in school history.

Down 64-59 with 1:12 remaining in the extra period, the Wildcats started their game-ending 9-0 run with a 3-pointer from freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/r-j-jones/11224">R.J. Jones</a>&nbsp;with just over a minute to play. Following a stop on defense, senior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/david-n-guessan/11220">David N'Guessan</a>&nbsp;got a big offensive rebound off a missed 3-pointer from redshirt freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/dorian-finister/11218">Dorian Finister</a>&nbsp;with 22 seconds remaining, delivering it to Kaluma at the top of the key where he nailed the 3-pointer before being fouled with 20 seconds.

After Kaluma's free throw gave K-State a 66-64 lead, Baylor (14-3, 3-1 Big 12) had another opportunity to respond but redshirt freshman&nbsp;Langston Love's&nbsp;3-pointer from the corner was off the mark and senior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/tylor-perry/11222">Tylor Perry</a>&nbsp;snagged the rebound before being fouled with 6 seconds left. Perry nailed both free throws to finish off the win and complete the night 11-of-12 from the line.

Three Wildcats scored in double figures led by a game-high 18 points from junior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/cam-carter/11216">Cam Carter</a>&nbsp;and Perry, while Kaluma added his team-leading fourth double-double with 12 points and team-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/jerrell-colbert/11217">Jerrell Colbert</a>&nbsp;and redshirt freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/dorian-finister/11218">Dorian Finister</a>&nbsp;came up big off the bench with 6 and 5 points, respectively. Finister added 5 rebounds and 3 assists in nearly 20 minutes.

The Wildcats needed special heroics to even get to overtime, as they trailed the Bears, 52-46, with 1:53 to play. After a timeout by Tang, Kaluma started a run of 7 consecutive points that pulled the Wildcats ahead 53-52 after 2 free throws by Perry with 34 seconds. A layup by junior&nbsp;Jayden Nunn&nbsp;gave Baylor the lead with 16 seconds to play but Perry was fouled bringing the ball up the floor just 2 seconds later. He made 1-of-2 from the line to tie the game at 54-all before Nunn's 3-pointer missed at the buzzer.

All told, K-State led for just 4 minutes and 9 seconds compared to more than 36 minutes by Baylor.The overtime win was highlighted by another stellar defensive effort by K-State, which held one of the nation's top scoring teams (86.1 ppg.) to nearly 22 points under its scoring average and its second-fewest points of the season. Baylor scored its 64 points on a season-low 32.9 percent (25-of-76) shooting, including 17.9 percent (5-of-28) from 3-point range.

Two Bears scored in double figures led by 15 from Love, who finished 6-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range. Senior&nbsp;Jalen Bridges&nbsp;scored 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting, while freshman&nbsp;Yves Missi&nbsp;had near double-double with 9 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior&nbsp;RayJ Dennis&nbsp;dished out a game-high 8 assists to go with 7 points and 9 rebounds.K-State finished the night shooting 40.7 percent (22-of-54) from the field, including 30.4 percent (7-of-23) from 3-point range, while hitting on 77.3 percent (17-of-22) from the free throw line.

Playing in its 200th&nbsp;game against a Top 10 opponent, K-State claimed its 53rd&nbsp;Top-10 victory in school history, including its fourth under Tang. The Wildcats now have 21 Top 10 wins at Bramlage Coliseum.Tang is now 3-0 all-time against his friend and former boss&nbsp;Scott Drew&nbsp;after his Wildcats swept the season series in 2022-23. This will be the only regular-season meeting between the schools with the new 14-team format, snapping a 12-year streak of playing home-and-home every year since 2011-12.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well early, as Baylor led just 6-2 at the first media timeout with 14:59 left in the first half. Junior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/arthur-kaluma/11226">Arthur Kaluma</a>&nbsp;closed the gap to 6-5 on the game's first 3-pointer out of the media timeout, but the high-scoring Bears rattled off 7 straight to push ahead 13-5.

The Wildcats got a lift from redshirt sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/jerrell-colbert/11217">Jerrell Colbert</a>, as his 2 free throws started a run of 9 straight points that gave them their first lead at 14-13 with 8:22 remaining in the half.

The lead seesawed back and forth between the teams, as the Bears took advantage of second-chance points to take a 22-19 edge at the final media timeout of the half with 3:25 to play. &nbsp;Kaluma was able to nail a 3-pointer from the corner to knot the game at 24-all with 1:15 to play before halftime, but Baylor was able to close out the half with back-to-back buckets, including one at the buzzer, to take a 31-26 lead at the break. K-State narrowly out-shot Baylor, 42.1 percent to 39.4 percent, but the Bears had 22 points in the paint and held an 11-3 advantage in second-chance points.

The offenses struggled in the early going of the second half, as the teams combined for just 7 points in the first 6-plus minutes, as Baylor led 33-31 at the 13:35 mark. 

After the Bears connected on their first field goal of the second half – a 3-pointer from&nbsp;Langston Love&nbsp;from the corner at the 12:22 mark – to go ahead 37-34, redshirt freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/dorian-finister/11218">Dorian Finister</a>&nbsp;gave the Wildcats a 38-37 lead on back-to-back baskets to force a timeout by head coach&nbsp;Scott Drew&nbsp;at the 11:38 mark.

The Bears were able to record consecutive baskets for the first time in the half to push ahead 41-38 with 10:14 to play, but the Wildcats were able to score 7 of the next 8 points, including a 3-pointer from senior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/tylor-perry/11222">Tylor Perry</a>, to go ahead 45-42 and force a timeout by Drew with 8:03 remaining.

The timeout seemed to be exactly what Baylor needed, as the Bears used a 10-1 run to go ahead 52-46 right before a K-State timeout with 1:53 to play. The Wildcats responded with 7 straight out of the timeout, including a pair of free throws by Perry to push ahead 53-52 with 34 seconds. Junior&nbsp;Jayden Nunn's&nbsp;layup with 16 seconds gave the lead back to Baylor before Perry split a pair of free throws to tie the game at 54-all with 14 seconds. Nunn's 3-pointer at the buzzer just missed.The Bears' lethal 3-point attack got going to open the extra period with consecutive triples from senior&nbsp;RayJ Dennis&nbsp;and Love while the Wildcats countered with a 3-pointer from junior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/cam-carter/11216">Cam Carter</a>&nbsp;and a layup from senior&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/will-mcnair-jr-/11541">Will McNair Jr.</a>&nbsp;to close the deficit to 60-59 with 2:25 to play.Layups by Love and Dennis gave Baylor a 64-59 lead with 1:12 remaining before the final 9-0 sequence highlighted by the 4-point play by Kaluma with 20 seconds to play.

"Opening statement…"Well, first of all, God is good and I'm so thankful that I get to do this at this place with these guys. I'm so proud of them, they could have easily let the Texas Tech loss beat us twice. But they were able to put it in a box and put it away and focus on preparation and on another one-game season. I knew RJ [Jones] was going to play well, I didn't know he was gonna hit the big three. But I knew he would play well because of his preparation and practice. He was the scout team point guard and he volunteered to do it, Jerrell [Colbert] volunteered to do scout team as well. Guys are really taking ownership of the team and really invest more into it and we're figuring out ways just to get better, a little bit better every day. 

I could brag about all of these guys.But what I want to say is that when I was driving in it was 6 degrees and there were people in the parking lot like workers, helping park and I'm thinking man, 6 degrees, they're out there working in that. There were students lined up at 2:30 p.m. I told the guys 'when people make this kind of sacrifice, they deserve a special kind of effort to allow us to have this opportunity and we have to reward them with an effort that's worthy of their sacrifice.' Whether we had won this game or not, I was really proud of our guys because of the effort that they gave, the togetherness that they showed that I felt honored our fans who were unbelievable tonight, and we don't win that game without them.

 Normally homecourt advantages are plus 10 and I think they were plus 15 to us so thank you to everyone who helped us get this dub. I was really proud of the guys who gave an effort that honored the people in our community who give us the opportunity to play this game.

"On what the team is doing right in overtime and finding ways to win…"Maturity. Some older guys believe and then we work on it every day. Every single day. We work on 5-to-grind every day. So, it's something our guys take pride in.

"What has allowed&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/jerrell-colbert/11217">Jerrell Colbert</a>&nbsp;to help out these last couple games…"I said maturity, right? And then what I was meaning is that those guys need to stop thinking about themselves and what they were going through and start thinking about the team and what they could contribute to the team that had nothing to do with playing time. And I think Jerrell and I know RJ [Jones], both of those guys have, they made some big strides maturity wise and understanding that this is a team thing, and they just have to be ready.

Their numbers will get called at some point in time and I mean, he's [Jerrell] been great at practice. You can see it right? You can see his approach, you can see his preparation, the extra work that he's putting in, just all those things and so as a coach when you see that, and you see that he's doing it with a certain joy. 

It's not like I'm doing this to try and get on the court but doing it because he loves his teammates and he wants his team to be better, but then you feel comfortable getting them in there. And so, I mean he's earned it. He's earned it. 

And we knew from the last game that we couldn't have Will [McNair] play 37, 36 minutes, whatever it was right? And so, we needed somebody to step up and Jerrell did that this week for us and he's done it like the last couple of weeks where he's really kind of earned more trust.

"On what is making the defense so special at this point of the season…"The attention to detail. The 5 overtime wins tie the school record for the second consecutive season and third time overall. It's not like I'm doing this to try and get on the court but doing it because he loves his teammates and he wants his team to be better, but then you feel comfortable getting them in there. Federal lawsuit accuses NY Knicks owner James Dolan, media mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A woman has alleged that New York Knicks owner James Dolan sexually assaulted her a decade ago and then set her up to be molested by now-imprisoned film producer Harvey Weinstein. That's according to a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles. Plaintiff Kellye Croft is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages. She has consented to be named publicly and says she has come forward to seek accountability. Dolan is executive chairman of Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. He heads the NBA's Knicks and NHL's Rangers. His attorney says there is no merit to the allegations.

Bills schedule could be disrupted with another lake-effect snowstorm forecast to hit region

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Mother Nature might not be through complicating the Buffalo Bills' playoff schedule, leaving coach Sean McDermott assessing his options. McDermott says the team, for now, is still scheduled to practice on Wednesday and Thursday, while monitoring a forecast that projects a lake-effect storm dumping nearly 2 feet of snow on the Buffalo region. The Bills are coming off a playoff-opening 31-17 win over Pittsburgh on Monday, and host the Kansas City Chiefs in an AFC divisional round game scheduled for Sunday night. A similar storm last weekend led to the Bills playoff opener against Pittsburgh being moved from Sunday to Monday.

Jokic held up his end of a heavyweight showdown with 25 points and 19 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards. Tyrese Maxey scored 25 points and Tobias Harris had 24 for the Sixers. Jim Harbaugh interviews with Falcons for head coaching vacancy after talking with Chargers

ATLANTA (AP) — Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons for their head coaching vacancy, his second interview in two days. The Falcons announced the interview with Harbaugh, who has interest in a return to the NFL after leading Michigan to the national championship. The Los Angeles Chargers announced Monday that Harbaugh had interviewed for their head coaching vacancy. Harbaugh was the San Francisco 49ers' coach from 2011-14 before nine seasons at Michigan. The Falcons offered no details about the interview with Harbaugh. Harbaugh is the second high-profile candidate to talk with the Falcons this week, following the team's interview with Bill Belichick on Monday.

The Bears led 64-59 with just over a minute left before Kansas State scored the final nine points of the game. Perry and Cam Carter finished with 18 points apiece for the Wildcats, and Kaluma had 12.
