Virginia Louise “Ginny” Osgood, 95, of Hutchinson, died June 17, 2021, at Hospice House. She was born August 8, 1925, in Florence, to Edward and Roxie (Widler) Anderson.

Ginny graduated from Exeter Union High School in 1946, and then attended Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. She was a homemaker and a nurse’s aide, working in both hospitals and nursing homes. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Young at Heart Ministry, and Elmdale Senior Center. Ginny was a member of First Church of God, Hutchinson.

On November 28, 1948, she married Kenneth Lloyd Osgood in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away on September 27, 2016.

Ginny is survived by: daughters, LaDonna Fager (Don), Hutchinson, and Pam Mifflin (Rob), Anderson, Indiana; grandchildren, Renee Nally (Joe), Bowling Green, Kentucky, Don Fager Jr. (Miranda), McPherson, Drew Fager (Jenna), Hutchinson, Josh Mifflin, Anderson, Indiana, and Abby Hart (Max), Anderson, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Ben and Adam Nally, Ava and Aiden Hart, and Mason and Addie Fager.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Kenneth Osgood; daughter, Deanna Whitehead; son-in-law, Rex Whitehead; and her siblings.

Celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at First Church of God. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday at Elliott Mortuary.

Pratt, KS - Curtis E. Huitt, 92, passed away peacefully, June 18, 2021 at Parkwood Village in Pratt. He was born November 4, 1928 in Coats, Kansas to Ellis W. Huitt and Hattie (Trask) Huitt. He was raised in Cullison, Kansas.

Curtis married Dora Pearson on January 15,1949 in Cullison Kansas. She passed away July 25, 2013.

Curtis farmed for many years with his brother. He served as a Director on the Board of the Federal Land Bank from 1974 to 1994. He was the manager of the Pratt Equity Exchange for many years. After retiring from the Pratt Equity Exchange, he became the owner and operator of Pratt Air, Inc., in 1978, which today is still operated by his son Randy. His love of flying was only exceeded by the love he had for his wife, children and grandchildren. Curtis also loved Colorado and has a home in Cuchara, Colorado and also loved spending time at his hunting cabin in La Garita, Colorado. The Huitt family has always had a cabin at 99 Springs where many good times are still enjoyed.

He is survived by his five children, Cheryl (Pierre) Michaud of Corpus Christi, Texas, Debbie (Alan) Kruse, Hutchinson, Kansas, Cathy Huitt, Corpus Christi, Texas, Randy (Janet) Huitt Pratt, Kansas and Chris (Susan) Huitt of Pittsbrug , Kansas. A brother Ellis (Phyllis) Huitt, Jr. of Cullison, Kansas. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren

Curtis is preceded in death by his Parents,wife, Dora Jean Huitt, sister Maxine Nash and great grandson Curtis Easton Shipman.

Curtis will be dearly missed by his family and numerous friends and associates throughout his lifetime.

Lori Ann Lemen, 58, passed away on June 11, 2021 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.  Lori was born on May 21, 1963 the daughter of Max Gene Lemen and Wanda June ( Striplin) Lemen.

Lori was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated from Hutchinson High School and continued her education at Hutchinson Community College receiving a Business Degree.  She worked at Dillons for 15+ years, Food 4 Less 11+ years, and most recently worked for Walmart 15 years, receiving her 15 year pin which she was proud of.  She loved animals, especially her cats.  She enjoyed vegetable gardening and also flower gardening.  Lori loved country music and she was so excited to see George Strait in concert, and Garth Brooks.  She had a heart of gold and was a wonderful sister and a friend to so many people, she touched each of our hearts and we will always remember her with a smile.

Survivors include:  2 brothers, Wayne and Mike; and extended family.

Lori was preceded in death by: her parents.

A memorial dinner to celebrate Lori's life will be held on July 25, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Home Builder's Shelter building in Carey Park, 2 Emerson Loop, Hutchinson, Kansas.   It will be a pot-luck dinner, so please bring something yummy.

Velma Jeanne Schroeder, 93, of Hutchinson, died June 18, 2021, at Hospice House. She was born March 24, 1928, in Emporia, to Otto J. and Ruth B. (Mast) Ziegler.

Jeanne graduated from Emporia High School in 1946, where she was salutatorian of her class, and Salt City Business College. She worked as an executive assistant at The Prudential for 30 years, retiring in 1989. Jeanne was a member of Salt City Rabbit Club, the Poultry Club, and the Iris Club. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Jeanne was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, and was a current member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

On June 1, 1947, she married Walter J.J. Schroeder Jr. in Olpe. They shared 51 years of marriage before his death on June 6, 1998.

Jeanne is survived by: her children, Karen Chadd (Lynn) of Hutchinson, Terry Schroeder (Mary), of Overland Park, Kathy Cutting (Randy) of Hutchinson, Timothy Schroeder (Janice) of Manhattan, Kristine Murphy (Glenn) of League City, TX, Thomas Schroeder (Kathy) of Andover, Karel King (Carl) of Hutchinson, Todd Schroeder (Angela) of Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Meeks (Flint) of Haysville; brothers, Stephen Ziegler (Linda) and Gary Ziegler (Mary), all of Emporia; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and brothers, James, Harold, and Wayne.

Reita K. Harvey, 72, died June 12, 2021, at her home in Little River.  She was born December 1, 1948, in Dorrance, to Henry and Isabelle (Peil) Galliart. 

Reita graduated from Dorrance High School in 1966.  She and her late husband, Carl, lived in numerous communities throughout Kansas.  Reita worked for various abstract and title companies and was a homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors, and loved the beach.  Reita could be found watching ANY sporting event, with the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals being her two favorite teams to root for when they played.  Reita’s all-time favorite teams though were the ones her three sons and grandchildren were playing on; she loved to support her children and grandchildren at their sporting events.

On June 1, 1968, she married Carl M. Harvey, Jr., in Dorrance.  He died June 26, 2012, after they shared 44 years of marriage.

Reita is survived by:  sons, David Harvey (Jackie) of Geneseo, Darin Harvey (Tina) of Wichita, and Daniel Harvey (Cheryl) of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Grant and Peyton of Geneseo, Joseph and Lexi of Wichita; and Tucker, Jackson, and Piper of Arlington, TX; and a nephew, Jerry Brown (Ramona) of Dorrance.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Kate Brown (Jim); and brother and sister-in-law, Leonard Galliart (Carolyn).

Cremation has taken place.  Celebration of Reita’s Life will be hosted by her family starting at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the family home in Little River.

Renetta Sue Stucky, 77, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at Pine Village.  She was born August 4, 1943, in Halstead, Kansas, the daughter of Dan Eli and Florine (Krehbiel) Stucky. 

She graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1961.

She was united in marriage to Ronald K. Stucky on November 3, 1961 in Moundridge.  He survives of the home.

Early in her marriage, Renetta was a Teacher’s Aide for the Moundridge schools.  She received her nursing degree at Hesston College in 1981.  Renetta became a registered nurse, working at Halstead Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Pleasant View Home in Inman, and Memorial Home in Moundridge

She was baptized at Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge.  Renetta and Ron were current members of the Medora Community Bible Church in Medora.

Renetta was known for her cooking and baking.  She operated Sunflower Catering.  She also submitted recipes and won several cooking contests.  Renetta hosted family dinners every Sunday, and loved hosting family Superbowl parties and birthdays dinners.

Other survivors include her son, Russell (Lynelle) Stucky of Moundridge; daughter, Denise (Anthony) Jasso of Moundridge; five grandchildren, Lauren (Allen) Bonde, Evan (Payton) Stucky, Blair Stucky, Julianna Jasso, and Allison Jasso; great-granddaughter, Quinn Stucky; brother, D. Weston “Wes” (Peggy) Stucky of Edmond, OK; and sister, Rebecka Stucky of Austin, TX.

Renetta was preceded in death by her parents; and niece, Jennifer Stucky.

Harold Dow “Buck” Carter was born in Wichita, KS and raised in McPherson, KS, graduating from McPherson High in 1966. He went directly into the Navy where he served in Vietnam. Very little of his war experiences were shared because it was something he didn’t want to remember and put it in other’s minds. Buck loved rock music, a very important part of his life. Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, Kansas, and many more kept him company over the years. He also loved old sitcoms knowing every episode, game shows, and most sporting events. Buck was an avid golfer, fisherman, gun enthusiast, loved the KC Chiefs, the Celtics, and the McPherson Bullpups, never missing a game until he could no longer attend due to health. He loved following the lives of his grandsons and nephews and nieces, always proud of their talents.

Buck leaves behind his son, Andrew Dow and wife, Dina, with their three sons, Zachery, Ethan, and Andrew of Lakewood, CA; brother, Tony Riley of Salina, KS; two sisters, Linda Kissick (Carl) of Marquette, KS and Dianna “Dee” Carter of Independence, KS; step-brother, Curtis Balzer of McPherson, KS; many nieces and nephews; and his loving cat companion of 10 years, Queen.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Dow Carter, Sr., and mother, Elmira Balzer.

He passed on Dec. 17, 2020, at the age of 72, in Wichita Wesley Woodlawn Hospital.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the French Creek Cemetery, Hillsboro, KS.

Hunter Dennis Emerson, 21, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was born October 7, 1999, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Patrick J. and Paula M. (Stika) Emerson.

He graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 2018. Hunter later graduated from Pratt Community College with an Electrical Powerline Technology degree in 2020.

During high school, Hunter worked for Kaufman Dairy and Moundridge Communication Network. He currently was an apprentice lineman for Evergy.

Hunter enjoyed ATV riding and spending time with his family, friends, and dog, Buddy. He was known for being very sociable. He loved being outdoors; spending time at the lake, where he would go boating and wakeboarding. In high school, he was involved in football, wrestling, and baseball.

Hunter is survived by his parents, Pat and Paula Emerson of Moundridge; brother, Matthew Levi (Katelyn) Emerson of Overland Park; sister, Elly Emerson of Moundridge; maternal grandfather, LaVerne Stika, Sr. of Herington; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wallace M. and Mary E. (Black) Emerson; and maternal grandmother, Ella Mae (Tajchman) Stika.

Ilene Rowe 95, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Newton Presbyterian Manor.  She was born March 1, 1926 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Beaty and Maud (Marshall) Hooker.

On April 21, 1946 she married Euell B. “Jack” Row at Alex, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2003.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, Kansas.

Ilene worked for many years at the Newton J.C. Penny store where she enjoyed interacting with customers and made many friends through the years.

She is survived by her son: Rick (Candy) Rowe of Wichita, KS; daughters: Jill (Mike) Pierce of Wichita, KS and Jana (Alan) Conwell of Salina, KS. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Ilene is also survived by her special friend Wayne Wright of Newton, KS and lifelong best friend Blanche Cowan of Stockton, MO.

Ilene is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Gus, Beaty Jr., and Gary Hooker and sisters: Agnes O’Rorke and Mattie Holder.

Keith Ryan Richert, 41, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, surrounded by family at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS. He had worked at the Bradbury Company as a welder. He also worked at McDonalds and Kwik Shop.

Keith was born on November 5, 1979, in Salina, KS, the son of Benjamin McClelland and Debra Ann (Willoughby) Richert. He attended McPherson High School.

He enjoyed Airsoft sports, Star Wars, comic books, Game of Thrones, and most all Viking movies. However, his biggest enjoyment and love in life was his three children.

Survivors include: three children, Kiya Richert, Kyle Richert, and Keira Richert, all of McPherson, KS; his mother, Debra Richert of McPherson, KS; a brother, Kyle Richert of McPherson, KS; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Rogene graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1966.

She worked as an office manager at G&amp;G Sales in Moundridge.

Rogene was united in marriage to Tommy L. Besse on April 16, 2009.

Dale Eugene Honeck, 74, of Park City, KS, passed away July 20, 2020, at Avita Assisted Living, in Wichita, KS.  He was born March 8, 1946, in San Diego, CA, to Cecil and Hazel (Hobbs) Honeck.  Dale’s father served in the United States Navy, and the family moved several times throughout the United States, before he graduated from Marshalltown High School in Iowa, in 1964, where he excelled in baseball and basketball.  Dale went on to play both sports at Marshalltown Community College and Wartburg College in Waverley, IA, then attended the University of Virginia, where he received his master’s degree.  After graduation, Dale began coaching at Albemarle College on Roanoke Island, North Carolina.  In 1974, while coaching basketball at Southwest State University, Marshall, MN, he met Mary Peterson, who also worked at the school.  They married on May 31, 1975, and had two daughters together.

Dale spent his career in education, having a passion for teaching government and history, and coaching basketball at both high school and college levels in several states, before settling down in Kansas, where he became a high school principal in Hugoton, for nearly ten years, then Hillsboro, where he retired.  After a sixteen year hiatus, he returned to coaching for one season while serving as the principal at Hillsboro, stepping in as head coach for the girls’ varsity basketball team and leading them to a 1st place state title in 2007.  Dale was a doting grandpa to his grandkids, loved telling stories, and making them laugh.  In his retirement, Dale spent his time attending their many school and athletic events, taking his dog on daily walks, keeping up with politics, NCAA basketball, and going to Wichita State University women’s volleyball and basketball games with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Barbara Fulcher.  Dale is survived by his wife, Mary of Park City, KS; daughters, Amy Jones (Trey) of Nickerson, KS, and Kate Honas (Craig) of Morrison, CO; grandchildren, Hunter, Ava, and Creek Jones; brothers, Mark Honeck of San Diego, CA, and Paul Honeck of Little Rock, AR; and sister, Becky Manship of Conrad, IA.

Rodney L. Lesh passed away June 13th, 2021 at South Wind Home - he was 83 years old.

Rodney was born on November 12th, 1937 in Norton County Kansas. He was the 2nd of 4 boys born to Ronald and Winona Lesh.

Rodney married Kay Moyer on December 23rd, 1961 and they remained married for 59 ½ years.

He attended school in Pratt, KS and graduated from high school in 1955. Rodney always said “no one ever enjoyed high school as much as I did”, and he also always insisted “I didn’t paint the water tower in ‘55, I just held the paint can so my good buddy Jim Raush could paint it”.

In 1955 he joined the Air Force and, after basic training, he was selected to be in Air Traffic Control. He was assigned to Tokyo Center and then transferred to Kwajalein Center in the Marshall Islands.

After his discharge from the Air Force, he attended Kansas State University and later moved to Topeka, KS where he graduated from Washburn University.

Rodney and Kay returned to Pratt in 1969 and he accepted a job at the People’s Bank.

He served Board of the Pratt County United Way and was active with the Miss Kansas Pageant.

He was also active in the Jaycees and served as president. Rodney was appointed to the Pratt City Commission - he was elected 4 times and served for nearly 13 years, acting as Mayor for 3 years.

He was the first president of the Economic Development group, and he served as the Director of the Red Cross blood drive for 10 years.

Rodney had 3 loves - his family, his country and his city.

Rodney and Kay loved to travel and were able to visit 43 countries. They enjoyed taking their grandchildren on many of their trips. The highlight of their travels was when all 10 family members were able to go to Hawaii to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Lesh of Pratt; daughters Stephanie A (Steve) Sewell of Overland Park and Susan L. (Chris) Mayberry of Pratt; brother, Gregg Lesh of Wichita; four grandchildren, Sydney (Blaine) Warden of Leawood, Shannon Sewell of Overland Park, Thomas Mayberry of Pratt and Madison (Blade) Nicholas of Kansas City; niece, Kerri Lesh; nephews, Andrew (Mary) Lesh, Rick Lorentz, Joel Lorentz, Jay Lorentz, and Ryan Lorentz; and a great grandchild on the way.

Stanley J. Nikkel, 78, of Inman, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021, surrounded by family at Pleasant View Home, Inman. He was a farmer and truck driver.

Stan was born on April 10, 1943, in Goessel, KS, the son of Benjamin L. and Justina (Friesen) Nikkel. On October 18, 1968, he was united in marriage to Judith Ann Barkman at Greenland Church in Manitoba, Canada.

He was a member of Smoky Hills Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Windom, KS.

Mandy was born in Dodge City, Kansas, on January 1, 1978, the daughter of Jeanne (Landers) Stull and James Frederick “Peter” Gunn.

Mandy attended school in both Dodge City and McPherson, Kansas, and graduated from McPherson High School in 1999. Mandy worked as an artist for The Clayworks in McPherson since its opening. Mandy enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics every year and her mother was the coach for her bowling team. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, McPherson. She loved making art for people when not spending time with her friends and staff at both Disability Supports in McPherson and at Pleasant View Home in Inman.

She is survived by her brother Michael Gunn, of Yoder, Kansas; David Gunn and his wife Danielle Gunn, of Burbank, California; her three nieces Allyson Messersmith and her husband Casey Messersmith; Emma Gunn, and Lily Gunn; and her two nephews Elliott Gunn and Peter Gunn.

Linda Lee Roelfs-Belden, 74, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away on June 15, 2021 at Hospice House of Hutchinson. 

She was born March 14, 1947 in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Melvin “Chubb” and Betty Lee Elstun Nielsen. Linda graduated from Alden High School, Alden, Kansas, with the class of 1965; and later received her Cosmetology degree from Barton County Community College. She has resided in Hutchinson for the past 25 years, formerly of Lyons, Kansas. Linda was a hairdresser for Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River, Kansas. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #982 of Hutchinson. Linda enjoyed drinking coffee with friends and most of all spending time with her family. In 1965, Linda was united in marriage with Timothy Roelfs in Bushton, Kansas. They later divorced. On May 23, 1996, Linda was united in marriage with Dan Belden in Estes Park, Colorado. He survives of the home. 

She is also survived by her son, James “Jim” Roelfs and wife Debra of Leoti, KS; sister-in-law, Gaila Demel of Ellinwood, KS; two grandchildren, Madison Vasquez and husband Cyle of Tulsa, OK, and Mikal Roelfs and wife Christal of Dodge City, KS; two great-grandchildren, Elliott Vasquez and Kinley Roelfs; two nephews, Shawn Nielsen and wife Jennifer of Wichita, KS, and Brian Roelfs and wife Tina of Sterling, KS; two nieces, Julie Roelfs-Gattenby and husband Jeff of Bison, KS, and Shelly Ward and husband Matt of GA. Bettye Jane Gustus, 92, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away June 13, 2021, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. 

She was born March 4, 1929, in Mingo County, West Virginia, the daughter of Albert and Pearl Kirk. Bettye has resided in Lyons since 1947, formerly of Logan, West Virginia. She was a bookkeeper for Briscoe Oil Company in Lyons, and later owned and operated Howard’s Clothing Store in Lyons. Bettye was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons; member and past State President of the American Legion Auxiliary; member of the Lyons Town and Country Club and Ladies Golf Association; member of the 8 &amp; 40 Club, where she held regional positions. She enjoyed golfing and traveling. In 1948, Bettye was united in marriage with Darrell F. Huffman in Lyons. They later divorced. On June 25, 1976, Bettye was united in marriage with Clifford “Cliff” Gustus in Lyons. He passed away on October 9, 1998. 

She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Huffman; daughter, Debbie Laessig; son-in-law, H. Kay Laessig; four brothers, Marshall Kirk, Bob Kirk, James Kirk, and Bill Kirk; sister, Jean Cherpitel; four infant siblings; and infant grandson, Kyger Charles Rose. Betty Rose Peterson, 99, of Lindsborg died Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Bethany Home.  Betty was born July 3, 1921 in Lindsborg. She is the daughter of the late David and the late Tekla (Larson) Elving.  

She married Harry E. Peterson and was a devoted homemaker and mother.

She is survived by her daughters: Christine Shwaiko (Lex) of Stockton Springs, ME, and Kathy Peterson of Lindsborg, KS; sons: Tom Peterson (Naomi) of Emporia, KS, James Peterson of Hartford, KS, and William Peterson (Sandy) of Pleasanton, KS; as well as 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Justin David Ray, 37, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away Friday June 11, 2021.  He fought a long battle against lymphoma and earned the mantra JRay Tough.

He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, on June 1, 1984, the son of Willard and Brenda ( Zahn) Ray.

A graduate of Buhler High School.  He went on to receive an Associates Degree at Hutchinson Community College and then his Plumbing license.

Justin went on to have a successful career as the owner of JRay Plumbing.  He also had a strong passion for ranching and prided himself in being a part of the local cattleman's association, raising black angus cattle.

He is survived by his partner; Deidra Rosenberger, daughters; Harper and Briley Ray and Emma and Meacy Rosenberger, sisters; Brand Parks( and husband Dan) and Heather Fogt ( and husband Chris), nephews and niece; Caleb and Joshua Parks, and Meagan and Brady Fogt, grandmother; Kaylene Zahn.  And last, but not least his beloved pet Kit.

Juanita worked as a housekeeper and dietary aid and retired in 1988 after 25 years.&nbsp; She was a member of First Church of God and Seventh - day Adventist Church in Hutchinson. On June 1, 1946, she married John McCormick in Columbus, KS, He died on May 25, 1993.&nbsp; Juanita later married William Hershey on August 10, 1997 in Wichita, KS.&nbsp; He died on September 24, 2005.&nbsp; Juanita loved to read, send greeting cards and going places with her daughter, Ilene.&nbsp; Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Ilene (Lonnie) Hougham and Velma Shipley; sons, John H. Juanita E. Hershey |1926-2021|

Bruce Edward Marshall, 82, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2021, surrounded by his wife and three children.

Bruce was born on June 19, 1938, to Orris and Dorothy Marshall in Clay Center, Kansas. He grew up on a farm just outside the city in a house built by his great-grandfather. His only sibling, Keith, had been stillborn, so Bruce was raised as an only child but maintained close relationships with many cousins throughout his life. He enjoyed playing the baritone with a small orchestral group in his high school and graduated near the top of his class.

His family was devout and attended church any time the doors were open, and as Bruce grew older, he took a leadership role in the Conference Methodist Youth Fellowship. His grandmother Tippin had a particularly strong influence on his faith and had long desired for Bruce to become a minister, but Bruce himself didn’t feel the call to ministry until his freshman year of college. After receiving an English degree with a minor in religion and philosophy from Kansas Wesleyan College, Bruce went on to attend seminary at Drew Theological School in New Jersey where he received his Master of Divinity.

Bruce had grown up attending the same small church in Clay Center with his future wife Janice, but they didn’t begin dating until college. Once they were together, however, it didn’t take them long to know they wanted to get married. Bruce sold his baritone to buy Janice a diamond ring, and they became engaged on February 13, 1959. They married later that year on August 30. Together, they had three children, David, Stephen, and Becky, and formed a strong ministry team as they served in the United Methodist Church for 39 years. In total, Bruce pastored at ten churches, primarily in his home state of Kansas.

After being diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease, Bruce retired in 1998, and he and Janice moved to Olathe, Kansas and lived near their daughter Becky and her family. They enjoyed several trips together, including a trip to New England to see the fall foliage, one to California for the Rose Bowl, and one to Arizona to meet their great-granddaughter, Audrey.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Orris and Dorothy Marshall, and brother, Keith Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Janice Marshall; his children, David (Brenda) Marshall, Stephen (DeAnna) Marshall, and Becky (Jon) Burrell; his grandchildren Chris (Ginger) Marshall, Ruthie Burrell, Jamie (Matt) Meier, Joel Burrell, Josh (Haley) Marshall, Nathan (Heather) Marshall, Isaac Burrell, and Lydia Burrell; and his great-granddaughter Audrey Marshall; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Bruce Edward Marshall, 82, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2021, surrounded by his wife and three children.Bruce was born on June 19, 1938, to Orris and Dorothy Marshall in Clay Center, Kansas. He grew up on a farm just outside the city in a house built by his great-grandfather. His only sibling, Keith, had been stillborn, so Bruce was raised as an only child but maintained close relationships with many cousins throughout his life. He enjoyed playing the baritone with a small orchestral group in his high school and graduated near the top of his class.His family was devout and attended church any time the doors were open, and as Bruce grew older, he took a leadership role in the Conference Methodist Youth Fellowship. His grandmother Tippin had a particularly strong influence on his faith and had long desired for Bruce to become a minister, but Bruce himself didn’t feel the call to ministry until his freshman year of college.
