Jodie Ann Oyler, 58, of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Friday, August 6, 2021 at Attica Long Term Care, Attica, KS.

She was born on April 30, 1963 in Medicine Lodge, KS, the daughter of William Edward Barnard and Ruth Emily (Trutna) Barnard.

Jodie graduated from high school in Ness City, KS and Pratt Community College in Pratt, KS. She attended Community Bible Fellowship in Medicine Lodge, KS and was a member of the Medicine Lodge Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are one daughter, Jessica (John) Wright of Medicine Lodge, KS; three grandchildren, Lennox, Corbin, and Wyatt; two brothers, Bill (Patti) Barnard of Medicine Lodge, KS and Rocky (Gaye) Barnard of Tullahoma, TN; five nieces and nephews, Jamie Barnard, Beth Conaway, Julie Schomacker, Chris Barnard, and Brooke Schmisseur.

Jodie was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Charlotte.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Community Bible Fellowship, Medicine Lodge, KS with Pastor Dwain Richert officiating. Inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS.

Roberta devoted the majority of her life in Wichita, Kansas and lived a significant span of years in Tacoma, Washington with her husband, children and family. She attended Wichita public schools from primary school through high school ending at Wichita High School North. She then married her high school sweetheart and started her family. She was a homemaker and worked as a IRS tax representative in Tacoma, Washington. She retired as a micro-film clerk at Coleman Company in Wichita, KS. Roberta was active in her church Douglas Assembly of God in Wichita, KS as teacher, event coordinator and Deaconess. She is a beloved member of Maple Gardens Village community and remained active by participating in many social and recreational activities.

Evelyn Maxine Graham, 95, passed away August 5, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  She was born September 11, 1925, in Hutchinson, to Claude A. and Nellie B. (Shultz) Perry.

Evelyn was a 1944 graduate of Buhler High School.  She worked in the shipping department as an office clerk at Dillons Stores, retiring with over 22 years of service.  After retirement, Evelyn worked as a driver for the Cancer Council of Reno County and the Reno County Sheriff’s Office Senior Patrol Program.  She was a member of the Women of The Moose Hutchinson Chapter #1371 and the Silver Leaf Chapter #464 Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years.  Evelyn was also a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

On July 24, 1944, she married Charles ‘Chuck’ Marion Graham, in Hutchinson.  They shared almost 49 years of marriage, prior to his death on July 6, 1993.

Evelyn is survived by:  son, William ‘Bill’ (Marilyn) Graham of Hutchinson; grandson, Jason (Ann) Graham of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Noelle Graham and Connor Wolfe, both of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband; sister, Mildred Snyder; and brothers, Floyd Perry and Jack Perry.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary, with The Reverend Mike Rose officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Wilda Stauffer Schrag was born March 4, 1922 in Milford, NE, to Henry and Sophie (Zimmerman) Stauffer.  She passed into the loving arms of our Lord on August 2nd at Ebied Hospice Residence in Toledo, OH.  Wilda was a resident at Maple Crest Assisted Living in Bluffton, OH, prior to suffering a stroke.

After graduating from Milford High School, Wilda attended Hesston College in Hesston, KS.  She graduated from La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing, La Junta, CO in 1945.  Wilda worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 plus years beginning in obstetrics and most of the years in geriatric care in both Illinois and Kansas. 14 of those years were as Director of Nursing at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, rural Chenoa, IL.

While studying at Hesston College she met the love of her life, David Schrag.  They were married at her parent’s home in Milford, NE on November 7, 1945.   David preceded her in death on April 15, 2005 in Moundridge, KS.

Survivors include three daughters, Anita (George) Lehman, Bluffton, OH, Christine (Dan) Diener, Goshen, IN, Jana (Rusty) Schopp, Bloomington, IL; and two sons, Mark (Nancy) Schrag, Homer, AK and Scott Schrag, Moundridge, KS.  Wilda is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Andrea (Tyson) Goings, Bluffton, OH, Ross (Allison) Lehman, Kansas City, KS, Meredith Lehman, North Newton, KS, Katrina Diener and Nancy (Aaron) Bontrager of Goshen, IN, Ben (Chrissy) Diener, Greenfield, IN, Hannah (Anders) Gustafson, Homer, AK, Logan (Rachel) Manser, San Marcos, CA, Maggie (Hugh) Hurst, St. Louis, MO, Bryan (Erin) Clark, Winfield, KS, Kim Schrag and Katie (Max Pierson) Schrag, McPherson, KS.  There are also 15 great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Maxine Schrag, Moundridge, KS.

Wilda was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; grandson, Eric David Schopp; and eight siblings.

She was committed to a life of service through her career as a registered nurse and her life-time membership in the local and world-wide Mennonite Church.  Wilda and David served in a variety of volunteer activities throughout their marriage, including two years with Mennonite Central Committee in Paraguay, South America.  Wilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Gregory Claire Lewis, 66, of Galva, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born on October 19, 1954 in McPherson, Kansas, the son of Howard “Pat” and Wilma (Reed) Lewis.

Greg was a lifelong Canton-Galva resident, where he graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1972.

He was united in marriage to Loretta “Lorrie” Burris on May 29, 1980.  She survives of the home.

He spent his adult life working in the oil field.  Greg retired early in order to follow Lorrie and have many traveling nursing adventures.

Other survivors include his son, Ian Lewis PhD of Lawrence; sister, Joni Webster of Galva; and his beloved animals, Maxwell P. Puppycat and Charlie K. Kittykat.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Wilma Lewis; sisters, Cheri Kay and Patty Ann; and nephew, Wesley W. Webster.

Greg loved his home and family deeply.  He had many adventures on his motorcycle, was a voracious reader and was always ready to travel somewhere new.

Cremation is planned with graveside services to be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Empire Cemetery, Galva, Kansas.  Following the service, the family is inviting guests for light refreshments and remembrance of Greg at the Lewis residence. Maida M. Laughlin, 87 of Canton, died August 5, 2021 at Via Christi Ascension St. Francis, Wichita.  She was a retired school teacher for Canton-Galva USD #419 and a lifelong Canton area resident.

She was born October 23, 1933 in Canton, the daughter of Charlie and May (Harman) Tinsley.  On December 18, 1960 she was united in marriage to Thomas Laughlin in Canton.  They were the parents of two children, Penny and Chuck.  Tom preceded her in death on January 20, 2008.

Maida was a faithful member of the Canton United Methodist Church, Dizzy Dames EHU, Farm Bureau and was a former 4-H leader and member of the Grange.  

Survivors include her children, Penny Chapman and husband, Tod and Chuck Laughlin, all of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Galen Tinsley and wife Delaine, Canton; her grandchildren, Brooks and Regan Chapman, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  A brother, Alvin Tinsley and a sister, Bonnie Tinsley Russell preceded her in death.

Dixie Marie Allison, 29, died Aug. 3, 2021.

She was born April 20, 1992 the daughter of Mark Allison and Melanie Hannah.&nbsp; A longtime resident of the Kingman community, she was a caregiver.

Survivors include father Mark; mother Melanie Sharp and husband Richard; daughters Abbygail and Mikayela Allison; sister Brett Allison; grandparents Carolyn Allison, Charles Crawford and Donna and James Hannah; and cousin Clayton Allison and his wife Teresa.

Everett Warren Johnson, 83, of Lindsborg, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at his home.&nbsp; He was born October 10, 1937, the son of Arvid and Martha (Nichols) Johnson.

He married Anna L. Pauls on July 15, 1962. They met on a blind date and were married for fifty-eight years. &nbsp;To this union were born two children: Randi Jean and Jane Ann.

Everett owned and operated RJ Construction.

He attended Sunset Bible Chapel in Salina for many years.&nbsp; Everett was a member of the Roxbury Lion’s Club and served on the Bonneville Township board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Anna.

He is survived by his two daughters, Randi Gifford and Jane Yount (husband Greg), four grandchildren: Lisa (husband Damon) Sewell, Matthew, Joshua, and Andrea Yount, as well as two great grandchildren, Elijah and Lilyanna Sewell, plus one on the way; and two brothers, Marvin (Donna) Johnson and Bruce (Sharon) Johnson.

Janet Lou Johnson, 69, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:53 a.m., Saturday, April 4th, while in the company of family members, at her home.

Janet was born in Lindsborg, Kansas on March 22, 1951, a daughter of Esther Adelia (Erickson) Ebling and Jack Walton Ebling.

Janet attended Elvings Country School, near Lindsborg, Kansas and graduated from Lindsborg Rural High School, Lindsborg, Kansas in 1969. She then attended Brown Mackie Business School, Salina, Kansas where she received her Business Degree.

She was a member of New Gottland Lutheran Church rural McPherson, where she was a member of WELCA and served her church in many other capacities.

Janet worked for Colonial Savings in Salina, Kansas before her marriage. After her marriage, she worked for Pioneer Savings and Loan Company, worked for USD 418 as an aide and worked for Central Plastics in the shipping department. She was the New Gottland Lutheran Church secretary for about 20 years. Janet was also a homemaker and farmwife and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.

Janet enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Janet Lou Ebling was united in marriage to Marvin W. Johnson on July 28, 1979 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together on the Johnson family farm rural McPherson. They were blessed with the birth of daughter, Jamie.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over 40 years, husband Marvin Johnson, of McPherson, Kansas; her daughter, Jamie Tautwein and husband Taner of Lindsborg, Kansas; her sister, Mary Jean Peterson and husband Eugene, of Lindsborg, Kansas; her sister-in-law, Caren Ebling, of Lindsborg, Kansas; her four favorite grandchildren, Adison Trautwein, Audrey Trautwein, Aspen Trautwein, and Ayvie Trautwein.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Kent Ebling and her stepfather, Raymond "Pete" Elmquist.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Gottland Lutheran Church with Pastor Laura Smith officiating.

They were married for 5 years. He drove Long Haul Trucks, being self employed with his own fleet. Larry and Ellen came to Pratt from Admire, KS and have been in residence for the past year. He enjoyed Building custom motorcycles. He rode them all over the states and started riding at age 12. Mary Anne Kline, 88, of Hays, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Via Christi Village Care Center Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born August 12, 1932 in Marion, Virginia to Raymond V. and Elizabeth A. (Wolfe) Taylor.&nbsp; She married Gerald R. Kline on April 24, 1952 in LaCrosse, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on January 12, 2012.

Mary Anne was employed at Southwestern Bell for 32 yeas as an operator and draft clerk.

She retired in 1989 and was a AT &amp; T Pioneer Life Member.&nbsp; She grew up in Marion, VA and was a 1949 graduate of Marion High School.&nbsp; She moved to Hays in 1973 from La Crosse, Kansas.&nbsp; Mary Anne enjoyed playing cards, cooking, reading, going to the casinos, and loved the ocean and spending time with her family.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include her son, Mike Kline, Hays, KS; daughters, Debbie Leiker and husband, Ron, Lyons, KS; Susan Willming and husband, Kent, Hays, KS; four grandchildren, Lachelle Spann and Shawn; Latasha Southern and Bryce; Brett Leiker and Lisa Hagley; Brian and Kalie Leiker; the grandchildren, Nicole Spann, Austin Spann, Kelsi Spann; Brock Southern; Ashley Leiker, Brayden Leiker, Aubrey Leiker, Brody Leiker, Jade Leiker, Lexi Leiker.

He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1978, and later received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University in 1990. Craig enjoyed going to air shows, was an avid piano player, and loved all things automotive and mechanical. Craig was married to Melody Hoover in 1999. They later divorced in 2016. Craig is survived by his son Lucas Conner; mother, Noema Conner of Lyons; and two sisters, Erin Conner-DeSilvey and husband William of Gypsum, and Gina Rugan and husband Gene of Lyons. Harold S. Cheatum, 90, of Hutchinson, died August 3, 2021, at his home. He was born December 16, 1930, in Kingman to William and Ruth (McRae) Cheatum.

Harold graduated from Kingman High School in 1948. He went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954, during the Korean conflict. Harold was the manager of Pittsburg Paint for 26 years and then owned The Furniture Stripper for 11 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1361. He was a member of USS Ingersoll Veterans and he and Shirley attended almost every reunion. Harold was also a participant in the 2014 Kansas Honor Flight and has his name listed on the veteran’s memorial in South Hutchinson. Harold was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson.

On June 2, 1957, he married Shirley Ann Voss, in Lyons. They shared 64 years of marriage.

Harold is survived by: wife, Shirley Cheatum; Hutchinson; daughter, Brenda Emmerich (Kevin), Hutchinson; daughter, Carolyn Beeler (DeWitt), Phoenix, AZ; brother, Richard Cheatum, Quincy, IL; grandchildren, Ashley Emmerich (Alex Millison), Courtney Emmerich (Kevin Pederson), Jordan Beeler (Devin Roloff); one step-grandson; four step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great great-grandchild.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021, at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. First Ave, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Tyrel Lee Colton, 50, passed away August 2, 2021, at his home.  He was born January 29, 1971, in Hutchinson, to Max W. and Alice I. (Harder) Colton.

Tyrel was a 1989 graduate of Pretty Prairie High School.  He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 18 years as a rural route carrier serving the Haven area.  Tyrel was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, and served as the chairperson for the church’s Kansas State Fair Cafeteria Committee.

He enjoyed living on the ‘homestead’ and taking care of his various animals, including chickens, steers, and his beloved cat, ‘Chunky’.  Tyrel was an avid supporter of his kids’ activities, from spectating, cheerleading, to coaching.  He did many things and held many jobs, but his most treasured titles were that of husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

On November 27, 1999, Tyrel married Luetta Bontrager.  They shared over 21 years of marriage.

Tyrel is survived by:  wife, Luetta Colton of Pretty Prairie; children, April Colton and friend Derek ‘Shub’ Boor of Kingman, Allison Colton of the home and friend Jake Clover, and Cordell Colton of the home; mother, Alice I. Colton of Pretty Prairie; siblings, Tanya Graber of Hutchinson, Tamra Colton of South Hutchinson, Tina Colton-McMillian and husband Max of Mount Hope, Tim Colton and wife Debbie of Coatsville, MO, and Terry Colton and wife Tammy of Walton, KY; brother-in-law, Ted Peissig; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by:  his father; brother, Todd Colton; and sister, Tricia Peissig.

Tyrel Lee Colton, 50, passed away August 2, 2021, at his home. He was born January 29, 1971, in Hutchinson, to Max W. and Alice I. (Harder) Colton.Tyrel was a 1989 graduate of Pretty Prairie High School. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 18 years as a rural route carrier serving the Haven area. Tyrel was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, and served as the chairperson for the church’s Kansas State Fair Cafeteria Committee.He enjoyed living on the ‘homestead’ and taking care of his various animals, including chickens, steers, and his beloved cat, ‘Chunky’. Tyrel was an avid supporter of his kids’ activities, from spectating, cheerleading, to coaching. He did many things and held many jobs, but his most treasured titles were that of husband, father, son, brother, and friend.On November 27, 1999, Tyrel married Luetta Bontrager. Jarell Excell Reed, 28, of Wichita, died August 1, 2021, at his home. He was born September 15, 1992, in Hutchinson to Lavette Parker and Lana Reed.

Jarell had many different jobs, but was most proud of his work as a server and even talked about owning his own restaurant someday. While growing up his family attended Second Missionary Baptist Church in Hutchinson. He had a contagious laugh and a big smile. Earl G. Mueller 88, died Tuesday August 3, 2021 Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born October 19, 1932 in Newton, Kansas to Gerhard and Johanna Ruth (Utech) Mueller. On April 12, 1958 he married Eloise Bynum at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hope, Kansas and she survives of the home.

Earl served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Newton. He also served one term on the Marion County Commission. He was a graduate of Tampa High School and attended the former St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas.

Earl was the retired President of his family oil company Cardie Oil.  He was a member of the Kansas Oil Marketers Association where he served in numerous offices.

He could be found relaxing enjoying a good western or police drama movie.

He is survived by his wife Eloise of the home; son Craig Mueller; daughter Rochelle Mueller and one grandson Earl Reece Mueller.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Norman and Paul Mueller and sister Leora Becker.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton with The Reverend Kurt Letcher presiding. Bernice Eleanor Peel, 99, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. She was the youngest of two children born April 18, 1922, to the late Albert and Gunda (Anderson) Peel of rural Lindsborg, KS. Also preceded her in death were her sister, Madeline Keenan of Lindsborg, KS, grandparents, Christian and Lena (Peterson) Peel of New Gottland, KS who were immigrants from Denmark, and grandparents, John and Sofia (Karlson) Anderson of rural Lindsborg, KS who were immigrants from Sweden.

Bernice was baptized March 9, 1929, and confirmed in 1937 by Dr. Alfred Bergin, Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. She has remained a member since that time.

Bernice grew up on the family farm southeast of Lindsborg, KS. She attended the country school, Smoky Hill, Dist. #105, McPherson County, KS, 2 ½ miles southeast of Lindsborg.

While in her youth, she was elected Secretary/Treasurer of Friendly Valley 4-H Club. As a member, Bernice made a vanity with drawers and doors from free orange crates. This was during the Great Depression in 1936.

Upon graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1940, Bernice attended Brown Mackie School of Business. Soon she became secretary, cashier, and bookkeeper of the large Brown McDonald store in McPherson, KS. She worked there six days (48 hours) a week and loved it. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in McPherson. She also worked at Bay Petroleum Refinery in McPherson and Denver, CO where she was secretary to the superintendent. Bernice moved to San Francisco, CA, because her sister was there. She became secretary to the assistant manager at the home office of Aetna Insurance Co. for five years. While riding the bus back and forth to work, she crocheted squares for an Afghan. When leaving San Francisco, she stopped to see a friend in Sacramento. She stayed and worked as secretary in the McClatchy Newspaper business for a short time. Bernice went home to Kansas and vacationed with her parents. Afterwards, she visited a friend in Kansas City, MO and found a job there with Warner Bros. Distributing Company for several years. This company distributed films to theatres in Kansas and Missouri. Bernice enjoyed very much being Secretary/Treasurer. She learned new business, made new friends, and had a wonderful life. She returned to McPherson to retire. Bernice was a member of the McPherson Historical Society, McPherson Senior Center, and Mid Kansas Co-op of Lindsborg.

Bernice suffered from severe sciatic nerve pain during several years of her retirement, but maintained care of herself in her home with the help of friends. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching the birds fly and squirrels gather their food. Her cat “Blackie” was always by her side.

Survivors include: one nephew, Robert Ray Keenan (Virginia) of Turney, MO; two great-nephews, Terry Keenan of Richmond, MO and Sean Keenan of San Francisco, CA; three great-nieces, Tammi Keenan of Kansas City, MO, Sheila Dickey (Russ) of Kearney, MO, and Rosanna Coons (Jack) of Olathe, KS; great-great-nephews, Michael Keenan of Clarksville, TN, Calvin Keenan of N.K.C., MO, Jonathan and Brayden Dickey of Kearney, MO; and great-great-niece, Ciara Keenan of Kansas City, MO; and three great-great-great-nephews, Parker, Hudson, and Brooks Keenan of Tennessee.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, KS. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Phyllis Joan Stucky, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 3, 2021.

She was born Sept. 23, 1933, in rural Kingman County, the daughter of Merle and Hilah Field Young.  A lifetime resident of the Pretty Prairie community, she was a farmwife, a former CNA and Laundry Supervisor at Prairie Sunset Home and also worked for Kuhn’s IGA and Collingwood Elevator.

Phyllis was a member of the First Mennonite Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

On Sept. 2, 1951, she married Gerald G. Stucky at Pretty Prairie; he died Feb. 10, 2012.  Survivors include five daughters Juanita (Tom) Zerfas, Paula Sisler, Vickie (Ron) Jacques, Kellee (Randy) Goering, and Joni (Roger) Vogt; brother Roy Young; son-in-law Bruce (Dianna) Ellingson; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter Geryl Lynn “Geri” Ellingson; brothers Forest Ray Young and Daryl Young; grandchildren Leslie Ellingson, Ellea Vogt, Aryn Jacques and Andrew Goering; and a son-in-law Gary Sisler.

Gertie Yoder, 97, of Hutchinson, died August 3, 2021, at her home. She was born April 13, 1924, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Harmon and Lizzie (Garver) Yoder.

Gertie was a homemaker, farm wife, and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church, where she was active in the church sewing circle and enjoyed piecing quilts in her younger years.

On August 15, 1948, Gertie married Melvin A. Yoder. They shared nearly 72 years of marriage before his death on July 2, 2020.

She is survived by: her children, Morris (Gloria) Yoder of Hutchinson, Marlene (Ben) Miller of Wichita, Marilyn (Bob) Swartzbeck of Fort Worth, TX, Lorena Perodin of Westminister, CO, and Doris (Randy) Yoder of Yuma, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Orpha (Cal) Nisly Clearwater, FL, Erma Yoder, Aroda, VA; brothers, Crist Yoder of Hutchinson, and Ora (Sharon) Yoder of Kingfisher, OK.

Naverta Jane (Weber) a.k.a. Nanny, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on August 2, 2021.&nbsp; She was born January 9, 1938, in Hope, to Viola (Gruber) Weber and Jack Weber.

She attended Hope High School, graduating in 1956.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Dick Elliott on December 9th, 1956, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek.&nbsp; Naverta was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

This young couple established their first home together in Hope.&nbsp; There, they were blessed with and raised four children.&nbsp; Naverta is survived by her loving children; Blake (Roberta) Elliott, Bobbi (Darel) Anderson, Todd (Kelli) Elliott, and Jan (Jayce) Krause.&nbsp; She is also survived by her grandchildren Zachary (Christina) Krause, Tyler Anderson, Miranda (Greg) Wald, Koby Elliott, Jacob Krause, Cortni (Caleb) Kruse, Zeb (Kilynn) Elliott, Clint (Kaitlyn) Elliott, Tanner (Kasey) Anderson, and Kade Elliott; great grandchildren Cayden West, Caryss West, Ellary Krause, Halen Wald, Brayden Elliott, Abby Elliott, Quinn Kruse, Kannen Elliott, Kycen Elliott, Kamryn Anderson and Kreyton Anderson; and her siblings Joan Kerr, Linda (Donald) May, and Denny (Terry) Weber.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, brother Lawrence Weber and brother-in-law David Kerr.&nbsp;

Naverta really enjoyed life.&nbsp; She had a 43-year career being a school bus driver for the Hope school system.&nbsp; She loved going to all the sporting events and her summer women’s trip to Colorado.&nbsp; One of her fondest memories was when four of her grandsons played on the 2003 State Championship football team together.&nbsp; She proudly drove them to their games.&nbsp; All of the grandchildren and great grandchildren loved coming to her house to swim and eat her delicious meals.&nbsp; Naverta loved her swimming pool.&nbsp; She was known to give the kids money to go to the corner store for flavor ices in the summer.&nbsp;

Naverta’s family will gather with friends on Thursday August 5th from 6-8 p.m. at the Yazel – Megli Funeral Home, Herington.&nbsp; Her funeral service will be held on Friday August 6th at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek.&nbsp; She will be laid to rest in the St. John’s Lutheran, Lyons Creek Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

William Ernest “Bill” Wagler, 74, formerly of Hutchinson, died August 1, 2021, after a valiant fight against an extended illness, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.&nbsp; He was born January 31, 1947, in Hutchinson, to Albert “Al” and Bettie Jo (Butler) Wagler.

Bill graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1965, Hutchinson Community College in 1967, and received his bachelor’s degree in hotel management from Washburn University in 1970.&nbsp; He played collegiate basketball at HCC and Washburn.&nbsp; Bill worked in the hospitality industry for several years before transitioning to Dillons, where he worked for over 34 years, retiring in 2006 as a District Manager.&nbsp; Bill’s greatest joy was watching his three children play sports, as well as hunting with friends and playing golf, particularly at Prairie Dunes.&nbsp; He was a Troop Leader for Boy Scout Troop 301, in Hutchinson, for a number of years.&nbsp;

On June 6, 1970, he married Sue McCue, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared 40 years of joyful marriage before her death on September 3, 2010.&nbsp; Bill later moved to Lenexa, Kansas to be closer to his children and their families.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Bill is survived by: son, Lucas and wife Jennifer and their children, Carter, Presley, and Holden; son, Logan and wife Jennifer and their children, Brooklyn, Landon and Keaton, all of Lenexa; and daughter, MacKenzie Harvison and husband Scott and their children, Hank, Holly, and Weston, of Overland Park, Kansas.

Bill was preceded in death by: his wife, Sue; his parents; and a sister, Camille.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor John Chastain officiating.&nbsp; Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp; The family will greet friends following the service.&nbsp;

Bill was dearly loved by his family, and they are so thankful that he has been reunited with Sue, and that he is no longer in pain.&nbsp;
