Luella’s life began on May 15, 1926, the daughter of James E. and Maude A. (Brenner) Long in rural Butler County. She attended Potwin Schools and married Frank Grant Smith on May 15, 1942, at the Butler County Courthouse in El Dorado. She was homemaker and worked with her husband doing carpentry. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Potwin Christian Church and loved working with her hands sewing, macrame, crafts, leather working, gardening, reupholstery, canning, pottery and crocheting.

Her loving family includes her daughter, Marsha (Mike) Baird of Potwin; five grandchildren, Corey (Beth) Smith, Scott (Becky) Baird, Casey (Traci) Smith, Kim (Matt) Zamora, Michelle (Eric) Mincks; many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ott Smith Zaffarano of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank in 2007; two sons, Rodney (Betty) Smith and Olin Smith; siblings, Elbert, Elvin, and Roland Long and Bonnie Fowler. Ruth Hill, 98, of Haven, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Wheatlands Nursing Home in Kingman.

Ruth was born January 10, 1923, to Virgil and Florence (Ralph) Norton in rural Haven.&nbsp; She attended Highland, Savage and Evening Star grade schools and graduated from Haven High School in 1940.&nbsp; Ruth and Duane Hill became high school sweethearts and were married August 23, 1942.&nbsp; When Duane was drafted into the Army in 1944, they moved to Camp Wolters, TX and later moved to the family farm east of Haven.&nbsp;

Ruth worked as a production worker/office manager at Boeing Company, Wichita and Bookkeeper/Secretary at Kincaid Equipment, Haven.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing bridge, watching sporting events especially the Shockers, KC Chiefs and KC Royals, was an avid golfer, and loved to entertain and spend time with her family and friends.&nbsp; She was a fabulous cook and was known for her yummy banana pies and tins of caramels that she gave to family and friends at Christmas. &nbsp;&nbsp;She was a member of the Haven Methodist Church.

Survivors include son, Jim (Connie) , Kingman; daughter, Judy (Hill) Grame (Daryl), Platte City, MO; two grandsons, Brandon Hill, Overland Park; Bill Ellithorpe (Courtney), Kingman; four granddaughters, Tami (Hill) Harney (Aaron) Broomfield, CO; Megan (Ellithorpe) Pope (Jonathan), Little Rock, AR; &nbsp;Janel (Grame) Zion (Jeff), Camden Point, MO; Stacy (Grame) Zahn (Ed), Lenexa; great-grandchildren, Spencer Ellithorpe, Camryn Hardgrave, Anderson Pope, Alyssa Zion, Katie Lomax (John), Whitley and Avery Zahn; and many nieces and nephews.

James&nbsp;“Jim”&nbsp;Michael&nbsp;McGhee, 70, died September 28, 2021, at his home.&nbsp; He was born August 14, 1951, in Hutchinson, to William Harold and Betty (Jones) McGhee.&nbsp;

Jim graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969, and in the 1990’s, he graduated from Hutchinson Community College with his associate degree. Jim retired from Lowen Sign Company as a finish and press operator after 15 years of service. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks. &nbsp;&nbsp;Jim, known for his love of cars, (especially Ford), enjoyed spending time at&nbsp;Kansas International Dragway in Maize where he could be seen almost every weekend with his Diet Pepsi in hand. Jim’s greatest joy though, was his four grandchildren; he looked forward to supporting and attending their sporting and school events.&nbsp;

On July 24, 1970, he married Sharon Rae Showalter, in Hutchinson.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jim is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of 51 years, Sharon of Hutchinson; children, Matthew McGhee (Lori) and their children, Lane and Brooke of Olathe, and Monica Denton (Abe) and their children, Liam and Alaina of Paola; two brothers John and Chuck (Beth); and one sister, Marjorie Galemore.&nbsp; He also had a brother by heart, Jim Elliott and a host of friends who shared their love of cars with Jim.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ruth Ellen Oltmanns, 91, of Moundridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center, Wichita. She worked as a wallpaper installer when the children were younger. She later worked on the assembly lines at three different mobile home factories. Ruth also worked for Femco and Modern Products (both of McPherson), and then for Goering Hardware in Moundridge. Ruth was born on February 22, 1930, in Harper County, the daughter of Clyde William and Glorina Maybelle (Roach) McClaflin. She graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. She was united in marriage to Arnold William “Bill” Allenbach on April 17, 1948, in Anthony. This union was blessed with five children, Sandra (who was stillborn), Michael, Keith, Brenda, and Chrystle. On December 31, 1971, Ruth married Bob Lee Oltmanns at the First Baptist Church in McPherson. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2020. Ruth was an avid gardener and active in 4-H, judging food at the county and state fairs. She was on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Moundridge for 20 years and the board at Pine Village for five years, along with volunteering for many other organizations and boards. Survivors include: four children, Michael Allenbach (Cindy) of Inman,&nbsp; Keith Allenbach (Shelly) of Moundridge, Brenda Allenbach of Moundridge, and Chrystle Gehring (Jim) of Edmond, OK; half-sister, LaDeene Wickersham (John) of Salina; five grandchildren, Amanda Potts (Jim), Josh Allenbach (Kyla), Tammie Schmidt (John), Ann Lacey and Sarah Ruehlen; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. Joe spent his youth in Dodge City, Kansas and graduated from Dodge City High School in 1944.  He was an Eagle Scout and played varsity football and basketball.  He was on the 1942 undefeated Dodge City High football team.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduation and served in the Pacific Theater.  After his discharge, he enrolled and graduated from Dodge City Junior College, attended the University of Kansas for a semester and graduated from the University of Denver in Colorado.  During his time in Jr. College he me the love of his life, Frances Arlene Ewy, and they were married on Sept. 10, 1950.  Joe sold insurance (and hated it) for Cimarron Insurance and Frances continued her position as office manager/head bookkeeper for McKinley-Winter Livestock Co.  In 1953, Joe and Frances took a leap of faith and purchased a small grocery store in Coldwater, KS, and began raising their family.  In 1971, they purchased a store in Cimarron, KS and in 1974 a store in Kingman, KS.  In 1974, they moved to Kingman and lived there most of their lives, with short stints in Dodge City and Wichita.  In 2016, as Frances’ dementia advanced she moved to Presbyterian Manor in Wichita; Joe followed two weeks later.  After Frances’ death in February 2019, at the age of 94 and his disdain for Coved rules at Presbyterian Manor, Joe moved back to a duplex in Kingman where he could eat lunch at his favorite restaurant, Jeri’s Kitchen, with his dear friend and attorney Ted Geisert and they could discuss and solve ALL the world’s problems.  Joe was a former member of the Coldwater Presbyterian Church and served the board of the church and member of the Kingman United Methodist Church.  He was a Scoutmaster and leader and was a past President of the Kansas Food Dealers Association.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Frances, his daughter Melody Davenport, baby son Jack Henry, grandson Joe Douglas Davenport and his brother Jack.

Survivors include his sons Pat (Tonya) of Kingman, Michael of Afton, OK, Jay of Valencia, Spain, sister Nancy Sherer, a brother in law Orlan Buller, grandsons Jordan, Brennan, Cale and Conner White, granddaughters Karly and Caitlyn White, great-grandchildren, Moxie, Oliver, Videl, Murphy and Arlo White and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Kingman United Methodist Church, on Monday, Oct. 4, at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will be at the Livingston Funeral Home Sunday, Oct. 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Kingman Carnegie Library and Kingman Rural Health Center both in care of Livingston Funeral Home.

(Morgan) Cox.&nbsp;&nbsp; He graduated from Abbyville High School in 1951.&nbsp; He graduated from Pittsburg State and Tulsa Engineering where he received his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. &nbsp;Ed was a Civil Engineer contractor.&nbsp; &nbsp; On September 29, 1959, he married Patricia McGuire in Hutchinson. They later divorced.&nbsp; On September 1, 1961, he married Mary Jolene Quimby in Tulsa, OK.&nbsp; She died on December 24, 2018. During his long career as a civil engineer, Ed supervised the construction of many large buildings in Kentucky and Texas, including work on the USAA Home Office Building in San Antonio, which was at one time the largest office building complex in the US. He made his home in San Antonio for the last several decades, where they were active members of the St&nbsp;Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church&nbsp;in their neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; step-daughter, Cheryl Watson; granddaughter, Kasha Horvath and great-great granddaughter, Rachel Townsend. Ed is survived by his daughter, Randi (Jon Larson) Jandt; brother, John Cox; sister, Helen G. Jerry’s life began on December 9, 1931, in Humboldt. He was the son of Maynard and Hazel (Brooks) Puckett. Jerry is a graduate of Humboldt High School. He worked for many years as a welder on tank farms and throughout the oil industry.

Jerry was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed Motocross and riding four wheelers. He raced dirt track cars in Chanute and loved anything with four wheels and a motor. Jerry also enjoyed his CB radio and talking to all his CB friends.

His greatest joy was his family which includes his children Jerry A. (Sandra) Puckett, Jr. of Whitewater, Rick (Deanna) Puckett of Newton, and Tony Puckett of Kingwood, TX; grandchildren Brandon Puckett, Janie (Danny) Becker, Shelby (Tyler) Schroeder, Bailey Puckett, Sophie Puckett, Scout Puckett, and Drew Puckett; and great grandchildren Conner, Makenzie, Rylee, Makilynn, Keaton, Ryker, Ripley, Jonathan, Levi, and Brayden.

Jerry passed away on Tuesday September 28, 2021, at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton. He is preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter Carlee and siblings Blaine Puckett and Jerriene Puckett.

John W. Redden, 80, of Goessel, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Bethesda Home.&nbsp; He was born February 3, 1941 in Galena, the son of Jesse Wallace and Winnie Alice (Garner) Redden.

He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1961-1962.&nbsp; He attained the rank of Fireman Apprentice (FA).

John worked as a truck driver for Industrial Steel and Dusenbery Trucking in Wichita.

He was a longtime member of the Canton community, before moving to Goessel, where he resided for the last fifteen years.&nbsp;

John was an excellent craftsman.&nbsp; He lived close by the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, where he would volunteer and help with historical events.&nbsp; John was very proud of his Native American heritage and was associated with the Mid-America All-Indian Center in Wichita.

He is survived by his friend, Keven and Debra Hiebert and their family in Newton.&nbsp; John was a part of the family and would spend time with the Hiebert’s on holidays and often helped as a farm hand.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery in the committal shelter, Winfield, with military honors.

Alice Faye Eveland, 79, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born in Arvin, California to Elijah and Zona (Martin) Woody. She had 3 sisters and 4 brothers growing up. Her family moved from California to Florida working their crops in between. She grew up in a strict pentacostal home with a loving family.&nbsp; She married the love of her life, Norman Dwain Eveland on August 4, 1958. They together had four children, Christine Ruckle, Diana (Eddie) Burkholder, Jerry (Janis) Eveland and Norma (Roy) Snodgrass.

Alice wore many hats being a doctor who could fix anything, a chef who could create so many wonderful meals, a hairstylist who gave the whole family hair cuts, a counselor and a shoulder to lean on.

She raised her family in Kansas with love and laughter.&nbsp; Momma loved her family dearly and always organized Sunday brunch to keep everyone close together. She loved the holidays dearly. Sadly in 2006 her husband of 47 years , Dwain, passed on to heaven. She also is preceded by her daughter Christine Ruckle.

In February of 2011, she met a loving life partner who she went on life adventures with. They loved to go to casinos, camping and sometimes they would just get in the car and drive. Together they had 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. These kids gave her great joy and happiness watching them grow. Alice was our world, our rock, our foundation and our glue. Nothing can replace the love she gave us as a family. Her words … “Stand still and give it to God.”

His other treasure and love was his family and spending time with them.

Mr. Terry “Ted” Brent Stewart, age 67 of Douglas, Georgia, went to meet Jesus early Thursday morning, May 7, 2020. Mr. Stewart was born November 20, 1952 to the late Clifford and Helen Barnett Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Daryl Stewart, Buck Stewart and Darlene McCurry.

Mr. Stewart, a native of Hutchinson, was retired after 25 years of service as a firefighter in Kansas. He was a member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church.

On August 15, 2015, Ted started “On Fire Ministries”. With the Lord’s help the first meeting was held at the Coffee County Jail. This Ministry truly has been a blessing from the Lord. Ted moved to Georgia from Kansas in 2008 with his wife of 34 years, Roberta (Bobbi) D. Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta "Bobbi" Wilkin Stewart of Douglas, GA; three children, Lisa Tenille Liles of Colorado Springs, CO, Matthew Hamilton Stewart of Lawrence, and Ryan Scott Stewart of Haven; sister, Barbara Hamilton of Haven, brother, Larry Stewart of Hutchinson; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Marilyn Dobbs McClellan, 78, passed away September 26, 2021, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; She was born September 29, 1942, in LaPort, IN, to William Harlan and Kathleen L. (Schlaefer) Dobbs.

Marilyn graduated from Concord High School, Elkhart, IN.&nbsp; She was employed by Social Rehabilitation Services and worked in the office for 20 years.&nbsp; Marilyn enjoyed sewing, making quilts, and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.

On June 29, 1985, she married Gary McClellan, in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; They shared over 36 years of marriage.

Marilyn is survived by:&nbsp; husband, Gary McClellan of Hutchinson, KS; children, Tod (Rita) Martin of Wyoming, Karen (Paul) Pepperd of Kingman, KS, Terry Martin of Hutchinson, KS, and Michael (Lisa) McClellan of Montana; grandchildren, Dustin (Dorian) Densler and Shana Martin; great-grandson, Jakob Densler; sister, Tammy (Jerry) Muncie of Indiana; brother-in-law, Charles McClellan of Hutchinson, KS; and her fur baby yorkie, Bailey.

Michael Martin McMahon, 77, passed away September 26, 2021, at his home in Inman. He was born June 28, 1944, in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of William Martin and Christine Marie Scanlon McMahon. He was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School, Niagara Fall, NY and graduated from Syracuse University with his master’s degree in Biochemistry. Michael was a microbiologist and in medical sales in New York. For 25 years he was a missionary in China as an English teacher, moving to Inman one year ago. He was a member of Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church.

He married Janet Lynn Corti on June 5, 1982 in Geneva, New York. She survives of the home.

Todd Allan Meyer, age 59, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt KS. 

He was born on April 6, 1962 in Sidney, NE., the son of Dean A. and Jannette L. (Krueger) Meyer. Todd graduated from Sidney High School in 1981. He was a resident of St. John. Todd loved horses and rodeo. He was a measurement technician senior for ONEOK, a custom harvester and a truck driver. R.E. “Ed” Craig, 95, died Sept. 26, 2021 in Wichita.

He was born Aug. 22, 1926, on a farm outside Earlton, Kansas the son of Herschel and Mary Taylor Craig. Ed spent his childhood growing up in Independence and Sublette, Kansas.

He lived through the Dust Bowl growing up in Sublette and traveled the Midwest in Swing/dance bands in the 1940’s.  Teaching band for nearly 40 years, Ed was inducted into the Kansas Music Educators Hall of Fame in 1993.  Well respected by his students and peers across Kansas, he lead many great concert and marching bands with superior ratings through the years.  During his 30 years as director of the instrumental music program at Kingman, his band program grew from 40 to 275 musicians.  The Kingman band was invited to perform for many special clinics and workshops throughout Kansas and the Midwest.  Craig served as state chairman for the ASBDA, state president for Phi Beta Mu, state president for the KBA, and board member for KMEA.  He received the KAA-phi Beta Mu Outstanding Bank Director Award, the Kingman Jaycee Award as the Outstanding Young Teacher, the Mac Award, and honorary membership in Kappa Kappa Psi.  He also had a successful second career as a Financial Planner for Waddell and Reed.

On Sept. 26, 1947, he married Glenna Killion in Neodesha, Kansas; she survives.  Other survivors include sons Kit and Tiger (Marilyn) Craig; daughter Candy (Jim) Ashcraft; grandchildren Diane and Kenton Ashcraft, Emma Craig, Miles, Jared and Natalie Craig; and great-grandchildren Ethan Pearson and Evan Ashcraft.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m,. Friday, at the Kingman United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Livingston Funeral Home.  Covid protocol and the use of masks is highly encouraged.  Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Leon H. Winter 89, died Sept. 26, 2021 in Kingman.

He was born May 28, 1932, at Nashville, Kansas the son of Walter Harold and Matilda Naasz Winter.  A longtime Kingman resident, previously of Wichita, he was a retired aviation electrician for Cessna and Learjet.

Leon was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Wichita; and was a longtime Boy Scout Master.

On Dec. 11, 1954, he married Shirley Hodson at Nashville, Kansas; she survives.  Other survivors include four sons, Michael, Mark, Rick and Dennis; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a daughter Cindy Serna; a brother Lawrence; sisters Louise Smith and Rosalie Goertzen; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

She was also preceded in death by a sister Mildred Lee.

Franklin Eugene Lunsford, 67, passed away on September 23, 2021 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas.  He was born on April 17, 1954 the son of Stanley and Laura ( Sneary) Lunsford.  Franklin attended Bazine, Kansas high school.  He joined the United States Navy and was discharged with military honors.  Franklin loved driving semi trucks, collecting eagle decorations.  He was the baby of his family, and was a dirt track race car driver when he was younger, and both him and his Mother were Nascar fans.  Franklin would do anything for his family, he was caring and loved his family.

Survivors include:  his wife, Tammie; daughter, Laura Hooker; son, Christopher Lunsford; stepsons, James ( Bonnie) and David Sharp, and Nathan Tacy; stepdaughter, Melissa ( Stuart) Janzen, several grandchildren; brothers, David ( Vicki) Lunsford of Kansas City and Terri ( Janet) Lunsford of Parsons, Ks; sister, Frances ( Rick) Shorr of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death:  his parents, Stanley Wendell and Laura Eugenia ( Sneary) Lunsford; stepson Joshua Tacy; and granddaughter, Gracie.

Kendrick " Buddy" Davis, 33, passed away at his home on September 21, 2021.  He was born on April 5, 1988 in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Delilah and Tim Davis.  Kendrick was a big guy that loved to cook and eat.  He loved woodworking, he was a compassionate, caring, kind teddy bear who gave the best hugs.  He loved spending time with his niece and nephews.

Kendrick is survived by his parents, Tim Davis and Delilah Davis; brother, Koleton Davis ( Kacy Ediger); sisters, Katrina Krase and Kameo Okikawa     (Robert); nephews, Braydon Krase, Keaton Nafzinger, Logan Krase and Kamden Davis; niece, Natalie Nafzinger; grandparents, Burns Teague and Judy Davis; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kendrick is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Davis;  and grandmothers, Leona Teague and Dorothy Davis.

Buddy is a treasure to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
