Katie Beachy, 89, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at her home.&nbsp; She was born December 18, 1931 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Levi E. and Anna (Keim) Helmuth.

She attended Elmhirst School in rural Hutchinson.&nbsp; Katie was a member of the Amish Church.

She was united in marriage to Alvin S. Beachy on February 18, 1954 in rural Hutchinson.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on September 28, 2010.

Katie was a dairy farm wife and devoted homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Norma Beachy of Hutchinson, Janice (John) Yoder of Hutchinson, and Barbara (Harry) Borntrager of Haven; daughter-in-law, Bertha Beachy of Hutchinson; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Lena Helmuth of South Hutchinson; brother, Edward Helmuth of Florida; sisters-in-law, Katie Yoder, Wilma Beachy, and Susie Beachy; and brother-in-law, Willis Miller.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Anna Helmuth; husband, Alvin Beachy; son, Loren Beachy; granddaughter, Deborah Borntrager; sister, Dora Beachy; and brothers, Enos and Floyd Helmuth.

Truesdell who brought his four sons into their marriage. He later passed away in 2014. Pat was very social, having a love for her faith in Jesus Christ, family, gardening, singing, reading, board games and photography. She also attended flight school earlier in life. She was a retired administrative assistant at Riverview Estates Nursing Home, Marquette. Sharron was born on March 3, 1938, in Marquette, the daughter of Kenneth Albin and Norma Grace (Crist) Erickson. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1956 and continued her education at Brown Mackie Business School, Salina. On April 20, 1957, Sharron was united in marriage to P. David Jader in Marquette. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1998. She was a member of Marquette United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include: four children, Kathleen Wheeler (Rocky) of Hutchinson,&nbsp; Sheila Jader of Marquette, Deena Kelsey (Scott) of Hillsboro, and Darrin Jader (Joēlle) of McPherson; a brother, Donald Erickson (Rose) of Marquette; eight grandchildren, Brian Jader (Micah), Kristi Sherrer (Matt), Jamie Akinrolabu (Yinka), Tiffany Wheeler, Carmen Hawk (Eric), Bethany Hajek (Alex), Natalie Jader, and Mallorie Jader; 13 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. Anne Nisly, 97, of Hutchinson, died September 12, 2021, at Hospice House. She was born May 8, 1924, in LaGrange, Indiana, to Lawrence and Mattie (Bontrager) Yoder.

Anne was a homemaker and dedicated pastor’s wife. She loved gardening, baking, and reading. More than anything, Anne loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Center Amish Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.

On November 8, 1951, Anne married Amos Nisly in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 70 years together.

She is survived by: husband, Amos; sons, Phil (Lucy), Tim (Shelli),&nbsp; and Larry (Pam) Nisly, all of Hutchinson; daughter, Rosi Nolder, Selinsgrove, PA; son, JR (Renee) Nisly, San Antonio, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in West Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Randy attended Southwest High School in San Antonio, TX. He was an over the road truck driver.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Sidney Wilmot.

Randy is survived by his daughter, Rachel Stephens, his son, Christopher Stephens; and two sisters, Evelyn and Marcia Wilmot.

Henry and Matilda Ruge Engelbart. Myra was united in marriage with Dwight “Dewey” Hultquist on May 12, 1955, in Uehling, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2015. Myra resided in Lyons from 1980 until 2016, when she moved to Wichita. She also resided in Clifton from 1960 until 1980. Myra was a top Avon saleswoman, having worked from 1968, until her retirement in 2015. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons, Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter #32, and member of the Red Hatters. Myra enjoyed traveling with Dewey, especially to Valle Del Ora in Mesa, Arizona. She also looked forward to having coffee with her friends and catching up with her Coffee Group. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Russel Henry Hultquist; brother, Dr. Richard Engelbart; in-laws, Sherman and Zella Hultquist; and dear friend, Lil Anderson. Marjorie Utt Davis age 98, died Sunday, September 12, 2021at Delmar Garden of Overland Park. She was born at home in Pratt County,&nbsp; to Floyd N &amp; Mary Baker Utt. She retired from 1st National Bank, Larned after 21 years. Marjorie was a member of the 1st Baptist Church, American Baptist Women, and a past member of Li-Ar-Mu Club, all of Larned. On June 1st, 1941 she married Willard J. Davis at the Baptist parsonage in Coats, KS. He died September 6, 20008. Survivors include: Son, Dr. Randy Davis (Maribeth) of Manhattan; daughter Iris Flournoy (Ralph) Fairway. Hester, Sr., 82, went to heaven on September 9, 2021, peacefully at his home in Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; Harold was born on September 24, 1938 in Sterling, Kansas, the son of Teddy and Alice Hester.&nbsp; Harold graduated in 1958 from Kingman High School, Kingman, Kansas.&nbsp; He worked on the family farm from age 4 until he left home.&nbsp; Harold spent most of his life as a truck driver.&nbsp; He had several businesses of his own, pulling mobile homes, H&amp;K Turquoise Jewelry, tree trimming, H&amp;K produce, swathing and bailing hay.&nbsp; Harold retired from Shears APAC in 2008.&nbsp; He was a jack of all trades.&nbsp; He loved restoring John Deere tractors, fishing, crafts, and time with his family.

In 1958, he married Particia Boyer.&nbsp; On July 6, 1972, he married Karen S. Stewart, he was preceded in death by both his wives.

Survivors include:&nbsp; sons, Harold M. Hester, Jr., James and Jerry; daughters, Jody Dreher and Peggy Lopez; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be on September 18, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Salt City Cowboy Church, 810 North Main Street, South Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; A dinner will follow, and to please bring a side dish.&nbsp; Thank you.

David Boedeker, 80, of Lyons, passed away September 10, 2021, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. He was born September 18, 1940, two miles west of Natoma, the son of Louise (Kreft) and Rufus Boedeker. Dave was baptized, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, loved and feared his Lord. He graduated from Natoma High School, worked in the oil field, joined the Navy in 1961, as part of the Kansas Centennial Company, was a fireman in Las Vegas, Nevada, before moving to Lyons, and working for Westar Energy. He married Judy Cessna in Natoma in 1962. Dave loved his family dearly and cared for his aging parents. He loved to sing, hunt, canoe, and studied the Bible extensively. He sang at weddings, funerals, and had a song in his heart for church, family, and any place he could. Many gospel, country, and Willy Nelson songs were his favorites. Gale “Roy” Jones, 76, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away September 12, 2021, at his home. He was born September 30, 1944, in Bazine, the son of Russell Everett “Rusty” and Doris Maxine Roberts Jones. Roy was a longtime Lyons resident. He attended a trade school in Salina, Kansas where he attained a certification as an electrician. Roy worked for many years as an electrician at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility. Ronnie graduated from Cheney High School in 1961.&nbsp; He worked as a dairy farmer after high school, working alongside his sons on the family farm.

On July 29, 1962, he married Judy Mae Osborne, in Wichita.&nbsp;

Ronnie is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of 59 years, Judy; children, Terry Young, Darren Young, all of Burrton, Jamie Schmidt (Keith) of Mount Hope, Mark Young (Tracy) of Burrton, R. Kris Young (Cherielle) of Cheney; brother, Randy Young of Halstead; sister, Arlene Davidson (Jerry) of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; and four-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents and brothers, Larry Young and David Young.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Cheney United Methodist Church, 406 W. 3rd&nbsp;Avenue, Cheney, with Pastor Aaron Duell officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Cheney.&nbsp; The family will greet friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Craig Earl Ewy, 52, spoke frequently with faith, confidence and excitement knowing that the time was near when he would be leaving this life to forever be in the presence of Jesus.&nbsp; On Friday, September 10, 2021 on the family farm where he had lived his entire life Craig was welcomed into the arms of his Father.

Craig was born October 26, 1968 in Newton, to Earl and Carol Ewy. From a very young age it became evident that Craig was destined to become a farmer.&nbsp; As a fourth generation farmer, Craig would learn everything he would ever need to know from his father, Earl and his Grandpa Rueben. Farm life and being a farmer would shape Craig into the hard working man that he became. Working the land he learned that when the time came to plant or harvest, that was what had to be done, regardless of what other activities or things may be going on.&nbsp; Craig prided himself on the fact that he could cram three days of farming into just 24 hours. Craig was very adept at welding and if he couldn’t find what he was looking for, he had the engineering skills to build it himself, which had been passed onto him from his father.&nbsp; He would spend countless hours in his shop building and designing things to make their farm more efficient.&nbsp; There was no project too big or too small for him to tackle. &nbsp;You never saw Craig without a pair of pliers and baling wire because he knew it might come in handy.

Craig’s love of farming and tending the soil would be something he would enjoy his entire life and he would take great pride in.&nbsp; Along with planting the usual crops found in Kansas such as soybeans, corn, wheat, milo and sunflowers, Craig was never afraid to try something new and he wasn’t afraid of what people would think when he would try his hand planting some of the non‑traditional crops rarely seen in Harvey County such as Sunn Hemp and sesame.&nbsp; Always a businessman and entrepreneur, Craig was continuously searching for ways to expand the family farm but at times it could be hard to find outlets to market the final commodity of “exotic” crop. &nbsp;There was more to McDonald’s sesame-seed bun than at first blush.

Craig shared his love and knowledge of farming with anyone that desired to learn about hard work.&nbsp; His humble demeanor made him the perfect teacher for high school students that would spend their summers beside him learning about farming and helping to work the land.&nbsp; There wasn’t anything about farming that Craig wasn’t willing to share or teach someone.

From Craig’s first marriage he was blessed with three children, Matraca, Monica, and Jacob, and when Craig wasn’t busy farming, Craig enjoyed travelling. Craig’s trip in which he took his children to Disney to see Mickey was a memory he cherished.&nbsp; Spending time with his family and friends was important to him and vacationing was a great way to build relationships.&nbsp; His annual four‑wheeling trips to Colorado were always a favorite.&nbsp; This year in late July while taking a break from chemo, the trip with his brother-in-law, Arlen, to Colorado would prove to be especially good for his soul.&nbsp; Trips to Florida, Hawaii and other places would mean an opportunity for Craig to sample yet more Mexican food and things with a cajun flare.

Most mornings Craig could be found with a small group of loyal and close friends at the Hesston Tru Value.&nbsp; Here they would share stories, compare rainfall totals, drink cheap coffee, enjoy a good cinnamon roll, and solve the world’s problems.

In February 2016 Craig would marry the love of his life and best friend, Jeni.&nbsp; Though some people can be skeptical of online dating, their love was brought together through the Farmer’sOnly.com dating site.&nbsp; Their courtship would be brief but the love they shared was deep and abiding. Jeni would bring to the marriage her children Harley and Cooper, who Craig would take in and love as though they were his own flesh and blood. Jeni’s shared love of the Lord would lead Craig to convert to the Catholic faith shortly after they were married.&nbsp; Craig would attend daily mass whenever he got the chance and with his renewed relationship with Christ, his love and generous spirit would flourish.&nbsp; Together their new blended family would learn about unconditional love as they would learn to celebrate each other’s company, faithful love, and what it means to live the farm life.

Craig was diagnosed with myxoid liposarcoma in February of 2019. Never one to complain about the hand that life had dealt him or to shy away from the diagnosis, Craig faced his cancer head on with grace and peace that can only come from his personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. &nbsp;When it had become apparent that the cancer treatments were no longer working, Craig made the courageous decision to pursue quality of life.&nbsp; In his last weeks, Craig often spoke of how humbling it was to see Christ’s love in action through the neighbors and friends that would visit, support him, and love him and his family through his all-too-short battle with cancer.&nbsp; Though cancer took his life, it never dimmed his spirit or faith.&nbsp; Those lucky enough to have Craig in their life and call him a friend will miss his loyalty, his faithfulness and knowing that he would always be the one to show up whenever anything was needed. &nbsp;Craig’s generous and loving spirit allowed him to leave his friends and family better for having known him and this world better for having him in it.

David’s life began on June 27, 1930 in Newton; the son of Frank and Laura (Dooley) Branson. David graduated from Phillips University with his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1953, his Bachelor of Divinity in 1957. He received his Doctorate of Divinity in 1987.

David moved to Marion in March of 1974 where he was the pastor of Marion Christian Church. He became immediately involved with the Marion Athletic Association, volunteering to coach baseball and help maintain the field: anything from cutting grass to repairing the bleachers. He then went on to umpire as much as he found time to do so. After umpiring, he worked with Babe Ruth Baseball at both the district and state levels.

There are so many stories to tell about David Branson, but most importantly he knew at an early age his purpose in life was to be a minister. David served God his entire life, as can be seen through his numerous Pastoral Positions including his tenure in Texas serving the communities of Muleshoe, Edinburg, Donna and El Paso. David also had pulpits in Salem, OR, Sawyer, Clearwater, Lyons, and Marion.

David is survived by his wife, Diane (Lehnus) Branson, of 47 years and his son Ty Branson of Andres Texas. David had four grandchildren that he loved with all his heart: Jenna Olson of FL., Joel and Jackie Branson of Lee’s Summit MO., and Jacey (Branson) Barrentine of KC, MO. David went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 7, 2021, at the age of 91.

There are so many stories to tell about David Branson, but most importantly he knew at an early age his purpose in life was to be a minister. David served God his entire life, as can be seen through his numerous Pastoral Positions including his tenure in Texas serving the communities of Muleshoe, Edinburg, Donna and El Paso. David also had pulpits in Salem, OR, Sawyer, Clearwater, Lyons, and Marion. David is survived by his wife, Diane (Lehnus) Branson, of 47 years and his son Ty Branson of Andres Texas. David had four grandchildren that he loved with all his heart: Jenna Olson of FL., Joel and Jackie Branson of Lee’s Summit MO., and Jacey (Branson) Barrentine of KC, MO. David went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 7, 2021, at the age of 91.

Louise Irene (Duerksen) Koehn was born on May 26, 1921 in Inman, Kansas to David Rose Duerksen and Marie Wiens Duerksen.  She died on August 31, 2021 in Health Care at the Kidron-Bethel retirement community in North Newton, Kansas, at the age of 100.  She married Earl Dwain Koehn, originally from Pawnee Rock, Kansas, in the Bethel College Mennonite Church in 1950.  Earl died in 2007.  They designed and built a family home in North Newton in 1953, where they resided until 1995, when they moved into an apartment at Kidron-Bethel.

Louise and Earl had three sons: Dennis living in Chicago; David in Fr. Bragg, California; and Brent in Elkhart, Indiana.  She will be missed by friends and family, including three grandchildren: Rosabeth Koehn, St. Louise, MO; Emily Koehn, Petaluma, CA; and Timothy Koehn, San Francisco, CA.  She was preceded in death by three younger sisters: Viola Ediger, Elda Duerksen, and Darlene Goertz.

For many decades Louise was an active member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church, where she served as the congregation’s first female deacon.  She had a love of classical music, giving credit to the inspiration of a grade school teacher in Inman.  One of Louise’s roles in the Duerksen family was seamstress; she had a life-long love of sewing and created fine wedding dresses for the Duerksen sisters.

Louise graduated from Bethel College in 1944 and returned to the college in 1947 to serve as Director of Food Service for the college and feed thousands at the Mennonite World Conference hosted by the college.  In 1952 she resigned from Bethel to devote herself to raising her sons and became their chief taxi driver in a 1959 Chevy station wagon.  Louise was an early feminist around 1954, when she renegotiated parenting responsibilities with Earl, and joined a home-economics club, a reading club, and a child-study club.  In the early 1960s she began training to become a librarian, and served in that profession at the Walton Grade School for four years and then twenty-one years at Bethel College, where she retired in 1986.

In 2020 Louise reflected on the 1947 challenge of feeding thousands of persons at a Mennonite World Conference.  She said: “I am a Wiens. . . Wienes have good ideas and they act on them.”  In addition to being a warm and caring person, Louise was a decisive administrator, purchasing 400 beautiful wooden chairs at one dollar apiece for the college dining hall from the Newton Ripley Hotel that was going out of business

Louise and Earl enjoyed international travel: visiting Japan, South Asia, South America, Africa, and Europe.  Family vacations are a memorable part of the Koehn family history, especially a six-week camping trip to Alaska in 1965.  Louise and Earl spent part of their first decade of retirement on road trips to visit family in Indiana, California, and Texas.  They used part of her Duerksen family inheritance to finance a family Christmas vacation to Hawaii in 1985, where David was employed by an insurance company.  Earl and Louise celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a memorable family cruise off the west coast of Mexico in 2000.  Louise is now on another journey. . . of hope, joy, and peace.

Everett M. Saunders 95, died September 9, 2021 at Newton Presbyterian Manor.  He was born March 11, 1926 in LaClede County, Missouri to Clarence and Bertha M (Weddle) Saunders.

On August 3, 1946 he married Lucille M. Willems at San Francisco, California and she preceded him death on May 27, 1998. He later married Jean Jackson on July 10, 2004                        at Newton, Kansas and she survives.

Everett served his country in the United States Navy during WW II. He was awarded a Purple Heart for being wounded in battle aboard his ship.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton.

Everett did not shy away from work and worked on and maintained several rental homes in the Newton area until he was 85 years old. He was known in town as a caring and fair landlord.  He retired from Precision Pattern in Wichita where he worked on high end aircraft furniture including furniture that was installed on Air Force One.

He has a love of animals and cared for many dogs, cats and other pets during his life. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing his creations with family and friends.

Everett is survived by his son David and Terri Saunders; wife Jean Saunders; step daughter Jacque and Daryl Wedel; step sons Doug and Rose Jackson; Matt and Chelsea Jackson; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 9 step grandchildren and           2 step great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and his brother Billy.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday September 20, 2021 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chip Bungard presiding.  Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday September 19, 2021 at the funeral home.  Burial with Navy Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas.

Jean L. Erickson died peacefully in Jesus on September 9, 2021 at the age of 95 years at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kan.   She was born March 6, 1926 to Joel and Esther Isaacson in Assaria, Kansas, where she lived all her life.  She married Carl E. (Mike) Erickson on September 7, 1947.  

     Carl built a home in Assaria where they lived their entire married life. They have 4 children:  Vicky Kuhn (Dick), Karlene Knopf (Jerry), Debbie Gfeller Shank (Glen), Scott Erickson (Kim). They have 11 grandchildren: Christy Russell(Jeff), Angela Boob(Bryce), Justin Knopf(Lindsey), Jeff Knopf (Rachel), Jay Knopf (Taylor), Erik Gfeller (Rachel), Anna Douglass( Eric), Mikael Gfeller (Stephanie), Sarah Wendt (Aaron), Nicholyn Strome, and Clansey Strome(Emily). They have 21 great-grandchildren. Jean leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 50 family members she loved so well.  

     Jean worked for the Salina School District for 25 years, where she transitioned the district payroll into the world of computers.   She was an active member of Assaria Lutheran Church, working for the Lord alongside many of her friends.  She and her sister, Donna Sherwood, sang in the Salina Sweet Adeline Chorus. She shared the gift of a beautiful voice with others, in church and at community events, often with her brother, Bill Isaacson and sister, Donna.   Jean hosted big family dinners with ease, nurtured a beautiful garden, embroidered for her family and was well known for her amazing pies. She loved her family and friends well.  That love was returned many times over and now her family treasures the memories they share of a wonderful Mother and Grandma. 

     Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

     Jean’s life will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Assaria Lutheran Church, with Pastor Dean Apel, officiating.  Interment will follow in Assaria Lutheran Cemetery.

Mark Leslie Kottwitz, 42, of Hutchinson, died September 8, 2021, at his home. He was born July 30, 1979, in San Jose, California, to Max and Barbara (Bellinghausen) Kottwitz.

Mark graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1997. He enjoyed anime and playing video games, an interest he passed on to his daughter. More than anything, Mark loved to spend time with his family and pets.

On May 7, 2013, he married Julie Ann Parrott, in McPherson. They shared eight years together.

Mark is survived by: wife, Julie Kottwitz, Hutchinson; daughter, Joscelyn Kottwitz, Hutchinson; father, Max Kottwitz, Hutchinson; parents-in-law, Ed and Suzie Parrott, Buhler; sisters-in-law, Amanda Strausberg, Buhler, Laura Bielser (Troy), Buhler; nieces and nephews, Madylynn and Braeden Strausberg, Mason and Carter Jones; ex-wife, Mary Kottwitz, Hutchinson; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mark Leslie Kottwitz |1979-2021|

On September 8, 2021, Wallace Dumont Holderman, 92, quietly passed away, his beloved wife Mary by his side, devoted partners for 66 years.  He is welcomed into the next world by his father and mother, Dumont and Velma Holderman, numerous friends, and a pack of ornery Brittany Spaniels.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Amy Teeter and husband David, Ann Fate and husband Paul, Dean Holderman and wife Meg.  They are grateful for the important role he played in the lives of his grandchildren, Seth Sheldon, Stephen Sheldon, Mary Burge, Bryan Fate, Emily Fate, Andy Fate, Callie Holderman, and Grace Holderman.  They blessed him with countless beautiful memories and eight great-grandchildren.

Wally grew up in Kansas City and relished summers spent on the family farm near Emporia.  What the family lacked in means they supplemented with love.  He had a brilliant mind and graduated from Kansas University with a degree in Chemistry and a Medical Doctorate.  It was while attending medical school in Kansas City that he met and fell in love with Mary Taggart, a nursing student.  After completing his internship at the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston, he returned to KU to study Orthopaedic Surgery.  Upon graduation, Wally began active service in the Air Force.  He enjoyed his military experience and the wonderful friends he made while in service.  His military career included stations in Montgomery, Alabama, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Fort Worth, Texas.

Wally resigned his commission in the Air Force in 1964, and, seeking a place to raise a family and hunt birds, joined a private Orthopaedic practice in Hutchinson, Kansas and later, The Hutchinson Clinic.  He loved being an Orthopaedic Surgeon and practiced for thirty years.  His service to the healthcare community included serving as Chief of Staff during the consolidation of St. Elizabeth and Grace Hospitals into todays Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  He also served as President of the Reno County Medical Society, President of the Kansas Orthopaedic Society, President of the Hutchinson Clinic, Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

He enjoyed tennis and played weekly well into his late eighties.  He was an avid outdoorsman and cherished time spent with family and friends sailing, fishing, and hunting.  He kept a special place in his heart for his bird dogs; admiring their innate abilities, overlooking their indiscretions, appreciating their companionship, and mourning their passing.  He was deeply and quietly spiritual, thankful for a blessed life.  Those of us lucky enough to have known him are eternally grateful.

A private memorial service honoring Wally’s life will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church where he was a long-time member. He was an avid outdoorsman and cherished time spent with family and friends sailing, fishing, and hunting. He kept a special place in his heart for his bird dogs; admiring their innate abilities, overlooking their indiscretions, appreciating their companionship, and mourning their passing. He was deeply and quietly spiritual, thankful for a blessed life. Those of us lucky enough to have known him are eternally grateful.A private memorial service honoring Wally’s life will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church where he was a long-time member. Michelle Renee Ann Sanchez Woodson, 50, died September 10, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born February 9, 1971, in Hutchinson, to Joe M. and Carol A. (Castro) Sanchez.

Michelle graduated from Hutchinson High School, in 1989. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, where she was also the secretary for 15 years. Michelle also served on the Altar Society and participated in the Adoration Chapel. She was a “little sister” in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and served on the board of St. Rose of Lima.

Known for her infectious laugh and love of cooking, Michelle also enjoyed dining and dancing with friends and family, and traveling.

On February 14, 1989, she married Kenneth E. Woodson, in Hutchinson. He died April 18, 2006.

Michelle is survived by: son, Alan Woodson (Tim Miller) of Hutchinson; father, Joe Sanchez of Hutchinson; siblings, Anthony Castro of Denver, CO, Deborah Castaneda of South Hutchinson, Cynthia Sanchez of Hutchinson, David Sanchez of Columbia City, IN; stepchildren, Dene Morris of Texas, Gene Morris of Hutchinson, Tyrone Woodson of Hutchinson; godchildren, Marcelino “Lino” Castaneda of Fort Collins, CO, Jayla-girl Bynum of Hutchinson, Amarion “Zae” Sanchez-Thompson of Hutchinson; godparents, Joe Castro and Jody Castro of Hutchinson; “babies”, MeMe and Izzy; numerous grandchildren and extended family members.

Richard ‘Dick’ Lee Keeler, 87, passed away September 10, 2021, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson.  He was born June 29, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Benjamin Oakley and Ruth (Hoefer) Keeler.

Dick was a 1953 graduate of Hutchinson High School and served in the United States Navy Reserves.  He worked at Winchester Packing Company Inc., retiring with 32 years of service, and then Hutchinson National Bank, retiring with 14 years of service.  Dick was a longtime member of the Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson.

Dick enjoyed the outdoors, from hunting and fishing, to visiting the mountains in Colorado.  He could also be found in a casino trying to ‘beat the odds’.  Dick had a passion for the outdoors, but the thing that brought him the most enjoyment were the visits from his great-grandkids and their hours of playing cards and interacting with him.

On June 25, 1954, he married Irene Joan Keller, in Hutchinson.  They shared over 65 years of marriage, prior to her death on March 27, 2020.

Dick is survived by: children, Gary (Cindy) Keeler and Annette (Terry) Bell, all of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; wife; son, Randy Gene Keeler; twin daughters, Sheryl Lynn Keeler and Sonia Lee Keeler; and brothers, Jack Keeler and Alan Keeler.

In order to comply with the wishes of Dick, there will not be a memorial service, but a Celebration of Life gathering for friends and family from 12 p.m. (noon) to 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary.  A private family burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.  Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.

Leland Ray Goering, 88, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at Pine Village.  He was born December 3, 1932 in Moundridge, Kansas the son of Edmund and Marie (Stucky) Goering.

Leland graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1950 and was a lifelong farmer. 

He was a member of Eden Mennonite Church.

Leland was united in marriage to Leona Neufeld on November 1, 1957 in Moundridge.  They celebrated 63 years together.  She survives.

He is also survived by his son, Richard Goering and his wife Amy of Moundridge; two granddaughters, DeAnna Goering of Pittsburg, KS, and Kimberly Goering of Albuquerque, NM.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at Eden Mennonite Church 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 13, 2021.  Family will meet with friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Moundridge Funeral Home.
