Joeley James (Joe) Rohling, 34, died August 20, 2023, at his home in Lawrence, KS. He was born July 4, 1989, in Hutchinson, to Gary Lee and Cynthia J. (Hatcher) Rohling.&nbsp;

Formerly of Hutchinson, Joe graduated from Millard West High School, Omaha, NE, in 2007. He attended University of Nebraska in Omaha. He worked in sales for a food service company in Omaha and Lawrence.

Joe was a huge sports fan, especially NFL football and college basketball. He also enjoyed playing golf with his brother, Riley, and their mutual friends.

Joe is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cindy Shufelberger (Steve) of Lawrence; sister, Bayley Rohling, of Lawrence; brother and sister-in-law, Riley and Beth Rohling, of Papillion, NE; brother, Shaun Shufelberger, of Kansas City, MO; sister, Sara Shufelberger Luna, of Topeka; grandfather, Duane Shufelberger, of Topeka; nieces, Victoria Valencia, Mackenzie, Jaybe and Alexis Shufelberger; nephew, Isaiah Luna; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, at Elliott Mortuary. A short memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Father Jerome Spexarth.&nbsp;

James K. Easter, 68, passed away on November 8, 2024 at the Friendship Mennonite Manor in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born March 15, 1956 in Newton, Kansas to Robert A. and Maxine Easter. &nbsp;

Judy Lynn Edwards, 70, of Hutchinson, passed away November 8, 2024, at Hospice House. She was born July 26, 1954, in Anthony, KS, to Robert and Jeanetta Rush Denton.

Judy graduated from Chaparral High School in Anthony. &nbsp;She took courses at Hutchinson Community College. She worked at Eaton/Cessna Hydraulics in Hutchinson for 30 years.

Judy was married to Otis Robinson, Jr. &nbsp;He passed away in 2003. &nbsp;She then married John Edwards. &nbsp;He passed away in 2011.

She thoroughly loved her granddaughters as well as shopping and her dogs.

Judy is survived by: her son, Tyronne Woodson (Gina Hildebrand) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Kathleen Woodson, Isabella Nece, Catarine Nece, Jake Hildebrand and Connor Hildebrand; and sister, Jane Whisman. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands; daughter Laurinda “Renee” Denton; sister, JoEllen Meador; and brother, David Denton.

Naida McCaskey, 92, passed away on November 12, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born February 7, 1932, in Burrton, KS. The daughter of Cecil and Balance (Stanley) Bottoms.

She married Robert McCaskey in 1952. They later divorced. They had 3 children, Rita, John and James. Naida helped to run Mac’s Mobile Home until the divorce and then she worked at Hartman Manufacturing, Lowen and Eaton until she retired. Naida enjoyed quilting, and spending time in her garden and yard.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, John F. McCaskey (Frank); and a brother, Larry Bottoms.

Naida is survived by her daughter, Rita Anderson; son, James McCaskey both of Hutchinson; three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, Kansas. A private graveside will be held in Burrton Cemetery, Burrton, KS.

Patrick achieved his associates degree in printing and ran the print shop at Hutchinson High School until he retired. He enjoyed playing Bingo and Pickleball with his son, Ryan, on a weekly basis. Patrick loved to golf and spent many hours at the Carey Park golf course. He was a member of the Gun Club, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.&nbsp;

On June 18, 1966, he married Catherine Hostutler in Hutchinson at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. They shared 58 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Patrick is survived by: his wife, Catherine Sims of the home; sons, Paul and Ryan Sims of Hutchinson; brother, Michael (Susie) Sims of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Casey and Madison Roberts of Topeka, KS.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Angela Roberts.&nbsp;

Lee Kerwin Hofmeier was born on November 18, 1931 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Hugo William and Verna Isabel (Achilles) Hofmeier. The oldest of three boys, his family lived on a farm in rural McPherson County. When he was out of school, he went to work as a cowboy for Ferguson Bros. Cattle Company in Marquette, Kansas.

Proudly serving his country, Lee entered the United States Army on September 28, 1951. An Infantryman in the Korean War, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, and United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 1, 1953 with the rank of Sergeant First Class.

On January 16, 1954, Lee was united in marriage with Phyllis Carlson at the Andover Lutheran Church in rural Inman, Kansas. They were blessed with four children: Renee, Richard, Randall, and Shelly and the family made their home in Hutchinson. The family moved to Harper, Kansas in 1974. Phylliss passed away on January 4, 1983.

Lee and Lois (Stewart) Martin were married on December 14, 1985 at the historic Runnymede Church in Harper, Kansas. Lee invited Lois’ children: Scotty, Cinda, Sammy, and Christa to his family. Lee was proud to be a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to a family he loved very much. He was avid golfer, playing well into his 80s and would tell you, ‘the older I get, the better I used to be.’

Having a vast work history, Lee was involved in the automobile business most of his life. He was a partner in the Pontiac Toyota dealership in Hutchinson. Lee later owned Hofmeier Chevrolet Pontiac Olds as well as Hofmeier Motors, a full line Chrysler dealership in Harper for over 30 years. He later served as Dealer Principal of Newberry Family Motors. Lee owned and operated a Dairy Queen at 26th and Main in Hutchinson for 5 years. He was managing partner of a Dodge dealership in Neosho, Missouri, President and manager of Harper Oilfield Services, and President and General Manager of Napa Stores (Terry’s Auto) in Harper and Anthony, Kansas. Lee was Director of American National Bank and 1st National Bank of Harper, Chairman of Harper Hospital Board, and co-founder of Harper Booster Club.

A devoted Christian, Lee served as the Chairman of the Board of Elders and President of the Congregation at&nbsp;Zion Lutheran Church in Argonia, Kansas. He most recently belonged to the Calvary Lutheran Church in&nbsp;Wellington, Kansas.

Preceding Lee in death were his parents, Hugo and Verna Hofmeier; wife, Phyllis Marie (Carlson) Hofmeier; and brother, Vaughn Clifford Hofmeier. He is survived by his wife, Lois of Harper; children: Renee Kerr (Mark) of Ness City, Kansas, Richard Hofmeier (Cindy) of Oxford, Kansas, Randall Hofmeier (Sandra) of&nbsp;Hutchinson, and Shelly Hodges (Eddie) of Harper; step-children: Scotty Martin (Karen) of Overland Park, Kansas, Cinda Moore (Randy) of Anthony, Sammy Martin (Kerry) of Topeka, Kansas, and Christa Manning (Robert) of Topeka; brother, Raymond Ellis Hofmeier (Linda) of Hutchinson; twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Friends may view and register Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Charles Albert Kennedy, 76, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at his home in Hutchinson, KS.

Charles was born on October 7, 1948, in Beaumont, TX, the son of Charles Dean and Bertha (Frank) Kennedy. On August 9, 1985, he married Adriane Grimes in New Orleans, LA.

Charles graduated from Martin Behrman High School, Algiers, LA in 1966. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 1971 from Louisiana State University. He worked as a retail manager for&nbsp;Acoustic Sounds in Salina, KS for 10 years. Charles was a Hi-Fi enthusiast and audiophile. He spent his free time listening to a wide genre of music. He also had a passion for black and&nbsp;white photography.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles D. and Bertha Kennedy.

Charles is survived by his wife, Adriane; a daughter, Kristin Kennedy-Spadoni; a son, Colin&nbsp;Kennedy; and four grandchildren, Ethan Spadoni, Evan Spadoni, Dylan Spadoni and Quinn&nbsp;Kennedy.

Glen Russell Lee of Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024. He was born on August 7, 1953, in Beulah, KS, the son of Dennis and Lois Lee.

Glen grew up in the small town of Beulah, KS. He was in the graduating class of 1971 at Girard High School. In 1973 Glen moved to Hutchinson, KS. In 1974, he went to work at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 2012.

On March 5, 1977, he married Rose Marie Lofland. Together they had two children, Brian (Ashley) and Jenny (Jeff).

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Lois Lee; sister, Janice Dunlop and brother-in-law, Carl Dunlop.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Lee; children, Bryan (Ashley) of Wichita and Jenny (Jeff) of&nbsp;Hutchinson; grandchildren, Beckham, Bentley and Elise; siblings, Barbara Crismas (Richard) of Springfield, MO, Buford Lee of Beulah, KS, Gerald Lee (Diana) of Olathe, KS; nieces and&nbsp;nephews, Todd Dunlop, Troy Dunlop, Joyce Dunn, Ricky Crismas, Dennis Crismas, Denis Morris, Kevin Lee, Katie Montegue, Jason Lee and April Lee.

Glen’s wishes were cremation. A Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel 300 E. 30 th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. JL Kasparek, 98, of Hutchinson, died November 9, 2024, at Hester Care Center. He was born May 11, 1926, in McPherson, to Edward H. and Leona E. (Friesen) Kasparek.

JL graduated from Inman Rural High School in 1943. He served in the United States Army from 1944-1946 and was stationed in Central Europe during World War II. JL worked at Morton Salt for over 42 years, retiring as manager of their dry salt operations. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, traveling, and flying. Most of all, JL enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

On July 15, 1947, JL married Opal M. Gaffney, in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage before her death on February 25, 2007.

He is survived by: his sons, Terry Kasparek (Kathy) and Rod, both of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

JL was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; daughter, Deborah Housh; and brother, Donald.

Per JL’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Memorial Park Cemetery.

William (Bill) Everett Bailey III died at the Hospice House of Hutchinson November 10, 2024. He was born July 5, 1959, to William Everett Jr. and Judy (Campbell) Bailey in Satanta, KS.

A 1978 graduate from Fairfield High School, Langdon, he was a lifelong laborer, traveling and building grain elevators. He owned and operated W.E.B Chimney Sweeps.

Bill never knew a stranger and was always willing to speak his mind even if you didn’t want to hear it. To know him was to know a genuine person. He did his best to help anyone in need.

He is preceded in death by his father’s David J. Anderson and William E. Bailey, Jr.; his brother, Dana Anderson; infant sister, Brenda Ann Bailey; nephew, JoeDee Lynn Bailey and niece, Jennifer Kay Hoover.

He is survived by his mother Judy Anderson; sisters Becky Colbert, Judi (Scott) Foster, Janet (Randy) Huitt, Jennifer (Joe) Perry; brother, JoeDee Bailey and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and customers.

Mary Lou Lowe, 75, of Buhler, Kansas, died Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.

She was born on December 15, 1948 in Liberal, Kansas. Mary Lou was raised&nbsp;in the Liberal and Guymon,&nbsp;Ok. area. She moved to Hutchinson, and later Buhler, where she raised her family.&nbsp;She graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 1992. She later attended Hutchinson Community College to become a certified medication aide.

For several years Mary Lou was a Sergeant at the Reno County Sheriff’s Department, and for a short time, a guard at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. Mary Lou opened an in-home daycare and cared for many children,&nbsp;several of whom remained in her life. Later, she became a certified medication aide. For six years, she owned and operated Mamma Lou's Cafe in Buhler. Most recently, she was a bookkeeper for AuctionMethod Inc.

Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with friends and family, working in her garden, and taking care of - and spoiling - her dogs.

Survivors include her sons Dennis (Phoebe) West of Shelburne Falls, Ma. and Nathan Lowe of Buhler; brother Michael Kingsley of Granbury, Tx.; two grandchildren Henry Walker-West and Harper Walker-West, Jerry Galemore, former husband; and many friends and extended family members.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her mother Emma Jean (Kapp) Kingsley; step-father Dorn Kingsley; sisters Marie Dearing, Sandra Hardin, and Sharon Pearson; Lewis Lowe, former husband.

He was born August 4, 1953, in McPherson, KS, to Rueben and Margaret (Dyck) Ensz.&nbsp; On April 14, 1974, he was married to Deanna Toews at Inman, KS.&nbsp;

Those left to cherish fond memories are his loving wife, Deanna; four daughters, Lynette (Kevin) Schneider of Windom, KS, Sara (Trenten) Friesen of Inman, KS, Monica (Sherwin) Johnson of Inman, KS, and Colleen (Terry) Schmidt of Hiawatha, KS; three brothers, Galen (Twyla) Ensz of Bonners Ferry, ID, Keith (Linda) Ensz of Inman, KS, and Harlin (Laurie) Ensz of Inman, KS; brother-in-law, Kenneth Koehn of Montezuma, KS; 12 grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.&nbsp;

Ellen M. Penner, 90, of Hutchinson, passed away November 8, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born April 10, 1934, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Rolley Lee and Mable Justine (Houghton) Dale.

Ellen graduated from Buhler High School and Hutchinson Community College with a medical transcription degree.&nbsp;

She was the first female police officer in Hutchinson, serving from 1954-1958. In addition, Ellen was the owner of Penner Sewing Service for several years. &nbsp;After graduating college, Ellen worked for Dr. Bos as his transcriptionist. She then had the opportunity to become a representative for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and was based in Winfield. Later in life, Ellen worked for Imperial Vending, Hutchinson.

Ellen was a member of Westside Babtist Church, Hutchinson and serving on the mission’s team.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Carl C. Penner on May 25, 1952, in Hutchinson. Carl passed away from a terminal illness on January 6, 1975.

Surviving are: her sons, Arlan (Brenda) Penner of Hutchinson and Steve (Dawn) Penner of Seagoville, TX; grandchildren, Jaime Cox, Ryan Lee (Charline), Amanda Hewett (Shane), Dustin Penner (Makayla), Jeffrey Penner (Tiffany), Kristen Westbrook (Patrick), Kayla Owen (Caleb), and Sierra Penner (Jay Turner); and great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kelsey, Preston, Brynlee, Luke, Lily, Skylar, Brooklyn, Jordan, Amelia, Olivia, and Amora.&nbsp;

Ellen was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Carl Penner; siblings, Albert, Johnny, Ira, Nellie, and Lena; and daughters, Luann G. Lee of Hutchinson and Elaine J. Anderson of Seattle, WA.

Don graduated from Westphalia Rural High School in 1953 and from Emporia State University in 1960. Don worked as an insurance agent and underwriter for Metro Life Insurance Company for 20 years, for Kansas Gas Service for 18 years, and did floral delivery for Dillons for 17 years.

Don loved gardening, hunting, attending sports games, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.

On August 29, 1959, he married Elizabeth Ann Harris, in Emporia. She survives.

Other survivors include: his children, Kirk (Katie) Young of Kansas City, KS, Kara (Ron) Winter of Wichita, Kelan (Julie) Young of Hutchinson, and Kyle (Tahnee) Young of Hutchinson; sister, Kay Feuerborn of Overland Park; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Duane; and granddaughter, Addison.

Cleyon Yowell was 93 years of age when he died on November 6, 2024. &nbsp;He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Della and Virgil Yowell.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Cleyon graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949 and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with an electrical engineering degree in 1953. &nbsp;Cleyon married Laura Valdois of Haven at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hutchinson in 1951. &nbsp;After graduation from M.I. T., Cleyon returned to Kansas and worked at Boeing in Wichita until he was drafted. &nbsp;After serving in the army two years at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, he moved to Southern California to obtain his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Southern California. &nbsp;He also worked at Hughes Aircraft in Culver City and in Fullerton, California. &nbsp;In 1966 he joined Aerospace Engineering in El Segundo and worked there until his retirement in 1987.

An avid ham radio operator, Cleyon made radio contacts with people in all of the countries in the world except North Korea. &nbsp;He belonged to the following radio clubs: &nbsp;Hughes Aircraft Club, J.P.L. Club, California DX Club, Fullerton Radio Club, and Reno County Kansas Amateur Radio Association. &nbsp;He was also a member of the following professional electrical engineering associations: IEEE and Association of Electronic Warfare.

Cleyon was an enthusiastic traveler starting with a 1,500-mile motor cycle adventure at age 16 with just his 16-year-old cousin. In 1963 Cleyon and Laura went around the world in 80 days on a truly remarkable trip.

Cleyon returned to Kansas in 1987 and moved to Hutchinson in 1988 and joined Trinity United Methodist Church.

&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Della and Virgil Yowell, his sister Marlene Martin and his grandparents Carl and Elva Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Laura Yowell of Hutchinson, his son Robert Yowell (Christie) and granddaughter Addie of San Antonio, TX, and daughter Julie Stade (Mark) and grandchildren Caitlin, Erin and Brendan (Lauren) and great granddaughter Lily of Haven. &nbsp;

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Laurel Cemetery, rural Haven. &nbsp;Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Dave graduated from Brewster High School in Brewster, KS in 1952. &nbsp;He served in the United States Navy for four years as an engineer. On April 22, 1960, he married Florence M. McFadden, in Levant, KS. They shared over 64 years of marriage, prior to his death. Dave worked as a mechanic for 70 years. He owned and operated Dave’s Auto Repair in Inman KS for over 35 years. Dave had a deep and genuine faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Dave was a member of First Congregational Church, Hutchinson, and American Legion Lyle Rishel Post 68. He enjoyed faithfully attending and serving in the church. He also enjoyed helping the family with car issues, keeping his yard immaculately groomed. But most of all, he enjoyed being with mom, hosting family and supporting his grandchildren in all their events and celebrating their birthdays.&nbsp;

David is survived by: wife, Florence Schneider of Hutchinson; children, Mike (Judy) Schneider of Colby, Mitchell (Jane) Schneider of Garden City, Michelle (Kevin) Reimer of Inman, Melissa (Dennis) Bresette of Lee’s Summit, MO, Mamie (Brandon) Coldren of Buhler; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Scott William Rooks, 52, died at his home on November 6, 2024, in Hutchinson, surrounded by family. &nbsp;He was born August 20, 1972, in Kansas City, MO, to James Gary Rooks and Linda Lee (Davis) Hansen.

Scott graduated from Lees Summit High School in 1990 and Central Missouri State University in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Project Management. He worked for Dillons as the Division Facilities Engineering Manager and then at Hardwood Millwork and Supply in Burrton, KS. On August 8, 2015, he married Dr. Rogena K. Johnson in Wichita, KS. Scott enjoyed woodworking, golfing, traveling, hiking and was in the process of visiting all the US National Parks with his wife. Scott was a very proud United States Army veteran having served 3 tours overseas during his 12 years of service.

Zachariah Quentin Steven Cullison, 29, passed away at his home in Hutchinson, KS. He was born December 12, 1994, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Rodney Eugene and Cynthia Sue (Cullison) Mears.

In 2013, Zach graduated from Hutchinson High School and was a laborer for Vaulted Deep in Hutchinson. Zach enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending his time with family and friends. He was larger than life and you could always find Zach with a smile on his face.

Zach is survived by his mother, Cynthia; siblings, Vulla (Dennis) Dusek, Barbara (Duane)&nbsp;Hamilton, Joe (Brianna) Bodine, Johnnie (Leslie) Bodine, Shelby (Allison) Cullison-Mears, and Blain Cole. Zach was “Cruncle Zach” to, Dennyelle, Dennin, Deeter, Victoria, Travis, Brittnay, Brandy, Evan, Ashlyn, Maizlyn, Treston, Noah and Elias. Zach is also survived by Bennie Steven Cullison, Tammi Jo Tipton; cousin, Ben Decker; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney E. Mears; paternal grandparents, John and&nbsp;Vulla Cullison and a stepsister, Sabrina Martin.

Virginia “Ginny” Lee Brady, 84, died November 4, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1940, in Denver, CO, to Michael Farrell and Rita Anne (Johnson) Heffernan.

Virginia graduated from Marquette Catholic School, Tulsa in 1958, she then attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Virginia worked as a travel agent for First Travel Agency in Hutchinson, and as a bookkeeper for Palco, KS, Inc.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing all kinds of card games, watching sports, especially baseball, traveling and going to casinos. Above all, Virginia loved time spent with her family.

On August 15, 1960 she married Stanley J. Brady in Tulsa. They later divorced. Later on, she shared her life with Tom Weems.

Virginia is survived by: her children, Steve (Sheila) Brady, and Doug (Charlene) Brady; siblings, Kathy (Charlie) Parker, Miggie McKillip, Sharon Wright, and Michael (Candy) Heffernan; grandchildren, Ryan, Luke, Madison, and Jocelyn; and great-grandchildren, Malachi Brady-Teater, Shelbi and Levi Brady and Jaylen Seburn.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Michael and Rita Heffernan; sister, Anne; grandson, Joel; brothers-in-law, Larry, Mike, Todd, and Rob; husband, Stanley Brady; and companion, Tom Weems. &nbsp;

A memorial service will take place in the Spring in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Rose was a devoted and loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she took great joy in attending their activities. She was an active member of Countryside Baptist Church in Hutchinson.

On June 30, 1971, Rose married Allen David Forkell, Sr. in Colorado Springs, CO, and together they shared over 53 years of marriage.

Rose is survived by her husband, Allen Forkell, Sr. of Hutchinson; children, Allen (Amy) Forkell, Jr. of DeKalb, IL, and Lisa Marie Forkell of Mississippi; grandchildren, Allie Forkell of Manassas, VA, Peyton Brand and Katie McCullers, both of Hutchinson, Dylan Forkell of Inman, Nick Stanky and Jason Stanky, both of Mississippi; 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dan (Pamela) Vigil of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Timothy Vigil, Joseph Vigil, and Frank Vigil, Sr.; and her sister, Sara Vigil.

Janet Joan Roynon, 85, died November 2, 2024, at Pleasant View Home in Inman. She was born December 3, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Vernon Richard and Sadie Melvena (Glover) Phipps.

Janet graduated from Hutchinson High School. She worked as a silk screen printer at Lowen Corporation, Hutchinson.

She enjoyed quilting and gambling. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.

Janet was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On December of 1978 she married Clarence Carl Roynon, in Windom. He survives. &nbsp;

Other survivors include: her children, Timothy (Rhonda) Crum of McPherson, Lesa (Richard) Ortiz of Plevna, and Laura (Paul Doeden) Shoulders of Minnesota; grandchildren, Rebecca, Stephanie, Joey, Ashley, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Britney.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Wayne Crum.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 7th, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1017 N. Washington St. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hutchinson Animal Shelter or Alzheimer’s Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Mark A. Zumalt, 63, of South Hutchinson, died November 1, 2024, at his residence after a five-year battle with colon cancer. He was born October 27, 1961, in Hutchinson, the son of Kyle and Karen (Howard) Zumalt.

An avid reader, film buff and audiophile, Mark graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Film Studies. He worked at KU as an audio-visual education technician for over 25 years until his retirement. He was passionate about the muscular dystrophy community and spent many summers volunteering as a camp attendant at the Muscular Dystrophy Camp.

Mark loved spending time in nature. He treasured the complexity of mountains and the sea and appreciated the simplicity of the prairie which he called home. A true renaissance man, he had many interests including history, cooking and raising tropical fish. He also enjoyed working with his hands building projects such as a teepee, a Viking tent and many remodeling projects around the home.

Mark is survived by his wife, Marla Herron and daughter, Maleah of the home; mother, Karen of South Hutchinson; sister, Tonja (and husband Mike) Stamm of Kingman; brother, Keith (and wife Betty) Zumalt of Nickerson and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The support of his family was greatly appreciated by Mark, Marla and Maleah especially that of his cousin, Donnie Ratliff who provided almost daily care and companionship over the last few years of Mark’s illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kyle.

No services are planned at this time. A memorial event will be scheduled in the future.

Mary Ellen (Yoder) Bontrager, 91, died November 4, 2024, in her home, in Arlington KS. She was born July 29, 1933, in Hutchinson, KS, to Menno Jr and Elizabeth (Nisly) Yoder. Mary Ellen married Eldon E. Bontrager on May 5, 1955.

 </figure>Mary Ellen (Yoder) Bontrager, 91, died November 4, 2024, in her home, in Arlington KS. She was born July 29, 1933, in Hutchinson, KS, to Menno Jr and Elizabeth (Nisly) Yoder. Mary Ellen married Eldon E. Bontrager on May 5, 1955.Mary Ellen was a homemaker and found fulfillment in caring for her family. Her careful attention to detail was seen in all that Mary Ellen did. Her food preparation, gardening, care of animals, but most of all her children, benefitted from her meticulous ways.&nbsp;Mary Ellen was a strong supporter when daughter, Carolyn, bought the restaurant in Arlington, and rolled out thousands of pie crusts over the next 25 years. All the local granddaughters learned this skill under her careful instruction.&nbsp;Mary Ellen is survived by: children, Carolyn Bontrager, Arlington, Myron (Ilene) Bontrager, Arlington, Phyllis (Gareth) Yoder, Timpson, TX, and Marilyn (Dan) Korver, Ladysmith, WI; daughter-in-law, Mamie Bontrager, Arlington; 27 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; brothers, Emery (Faye) Yoder, Edwin (Clara) Yoder; sister Clara Mae (Melvin) Nisly; and sisters-in-law, Edna Yoder and Amy Yoder.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; children, Lynette Bontrager, LaVon Bontrager, Faith Bontrager, and Regina Bontrager; four stillborn great-grandchildren; and siblings, Katie Viola Yoder, Henry Yoder and Glenn Yoder.Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Arlington Amish Mennonite Church, 15611 W. Arlington Rd, Arlington, KS. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
