
Karen Marie Quiring, 72, of Hutchinson, died January 9, 2026, at Hospice House. She was born September 29, 1953, in Seneca, to Alvin Wendell “Red” and Doris June (Hiatt) Walker.
Karen graduated from Newton High School. In addition to being a devoted mother and homemaker, she contributed more than 25 years of service to the business office at Hutchinson Community College before enjoying a well-earned retirement. Karen had a passion for growing flowers, tending to her yard, and creating delicious meals for those she loved. She especially cherished the holidays, sharing meals with family and friends, and striking up conversations with anyone she met. Karen delighted in keeping track of the weather, watching movies and television, and expressing her keen sense of fashion.
Above all else, Karen’s greatest joy and deepest love were her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She was of the Christian faith.
Karen is survived by: her children, Aaron Goldsberry (Vanessa) of Olathe, Jodi Mitchell (Mykle) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Ashlyn Goldsberry, Andrew Goldsberry, Piper Quiring; sisters, Joyce Duncan (Mike) of Shawnee, Cheryl Heier (Ed) of Great Bend; niece, Tara Heimerman; many other beloved nieces, nephews, great-nephews; and although no longer married, her best friend, Charlie Quiring.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Patricia Moore and Jay Walker.
Per Karen’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Anchor Inn, 128 S. Main, Hutchinson.
Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
