Mary Virginia Heidbreder, 94, of Lindsborg, passed away at 12:16 A.M., Wednesday, November 10th, 2021 while in the company of family members at Riverview Estates, Marquette. Mary was born in Hillsboro, Illinois on October 22, 1927, a daughter of Jessie Pearl (McClaine) and Raleigh Walter Scott. Mary attended Hillsboro Illinois grade schools and graduated from Morrisonville High School, Morrisonville, Illinois. She then attended and graduated from Carthage College, Carthage, Illinois with her bachelors degree in English She was a member of Lindsborg Covenant Church Mary was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Mary enjoyed sewing, taking care of her grandkids and spending time with her friends and family. Mary donated blood regularly and received her 10 gallon pin before stopping in July 2018. Later on in her and John lives they enjoyed traveling in their RV around the US. Mary Virginia Scott was united in marriage to John Cawthorn Heidbreder on September 10, 1950 at Hillsboro, Illinois. The young couple established their first home together in Minneapolis, MN. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, three daughters and one son, Florence, John, Margaret, and Katherine. She is survived by her children, Florence Peterson and her husband Robert, of Lindsborg, Kansas, John Heidbreder, of Lindsborg,&nbsp; Maggie Hall and her husband Brad, of Pagosa Springs, Colorado and Kathy Logan and her husband Matthew, of Wichita; her sisters, Betty Niesmann, of Pontiac, Illinois and Ellen Spencer and her husband Wayne, of Taylorville, Illinois. James A. “Jim” Tetrick, 89, died Nov. 11, 2021 at Pretty Prairie.

He was born Oct. 19, 1932, at Belvidere, the son of Oliver and Florence Williams Tetrick.

A resident of the Kingman community most of his life, he was a retired maintenance foreman for Kansas Power and Light.

Jim was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Kingman; and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

On Nov. 11, 1954, he married Lois Schuman at Kingman; she died March 3, 2014.&nbsp; Survivors include three sons and their wives, Jerry and Kris, Brice and Bev, and Bill and Melissa; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He was also preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Lawrence; sister Marie Born; a grandson Steven Tetrick; and an infant daughter.

Robert Lee Campbell, 75, a life-long resident of Plevna, went home to Heaven on November 6, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born May 10, 1946, in Stafford, to Howard and Dorothy (Herriman) Campbell.

Lee was a 1964 graduate of Fairfield High School, Langdon.&nbsp; On November 14, 1964, he married Kathy Ford. Together they had two children.&nbsp; Lee and Kathy lived and farmed the Campbell family homestead and he worked at Cessna for 18 years.&nbsp; They divorced in 1986, stopped farming in 1989, and he went to driving for Dillons Stores for 10 years.&nbsp; Lee enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his horses.

He is survived by:&nbsp; daughter, Tamra (Donald) Langford of Plevna, and son, Aaron (Elizabeth) Campbell of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Lindsey (Rod) Keener, Zach (Melissa) Langford, Dalton (Annie Harner) Langford, Reece (Vanessa Quitalig) Campbell, Mekenzie Campbell; great-granddaughters, Ella, Sophie, and Rose Langford; brother-in-law, Bob Cooper; companion, Deanna Vincent, and her granddaughter, Lindsay (Brett) Love.

Erna “Barbara” Bargas’ life began on August 28, 1930 in Wurtzburg, Germany. She passed away in Bonner Springs, Kansas on November 9, 2021 surrounded by her family in their home at the age of 91. She was married to Lupe Bargas in February of 1963. He passed away in December of 2020. Over the years, Barbara enjoyed bowling and cooking. Roxanne S. Treece, 67, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at her home.  She was born on January 22, 1954 in Loveland, Colorado, the daughter of Ralph and Barbara (Neitzel) Treece.

She attended Washington Elementary, Loveland Jr. High and Loveland High School.

Roxanne worked as a cook at Sirloin Stockade and the Cedars in McPherson.

She was a member at the First United Methodist Church in McPherson.  Roxanne was a former president of the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI).  She was also a volunteer worker at the Cedars.

Roxanne enjoyed reading and going on drives with Karen.  She loved nature and the mountains, and her cats, Dozer and Smokie.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce (Nadine) Treece of Loveland, CO; sisters, Jennifer (Bill) Wagaman of Loveland, CO, and Kaylene Treece of Loveland, CO; and adoptive sisters, Alicia Heim, Mindy Komarek, and Marcy Smith.

John D. Schrag was born to Paul J. and Esther Schroeder Schrag on April 26, 1953. He passed away at the age of 68 on November 11, 2021.

John was born in Newton, KS but was a lifelong resident of Moundridge, KS.

John was raised on the family farm southwest of Moundridge. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was for work or play. John attended Liberty grade school in rural Moundridge and was in the last graduating 8th grade class in 1967. He graduated from Moundridge High School in 1971, where he enjoyed playing football and custom wheat harvesting in the summers. John was an active member and past president of the Mid-Kansas Mustang Club.

John married Debra Willis on September 2, 1973 and of that marriage was born three children; Derek, Pamela, and Jerol. John, along with his brother-in-law Gail, built the house he would eventually live in for over 45 years. He later married Sharon Crain on October 12, 1991. She survives of the home. John thoroughly enjoyed watching his kids and later his grandkids sporting and musical events. He also spent thousands of hours working on classic cars, going to (and dragging his young kids to) car shows and having booths at swap meets, where he could sell and purchase car parts. His favorite cars were the classic muscle cars of the late 60’s and early 70’s. His very first car was a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I (candyapple red, of course).

During high school, John also attended Salina Vo-Tech in their automotive mechanics class. After graduating high school and working a brief stint at Mid Kansas COOP, John worked for over 40 years at the Bradbury Company in Moundridge as a precision machinist. John took great pride in the work that he performed. He was able to retire early at the age of 62 and took advantage of the extra time to spend with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his spouse, Sharon, of Moundridge; his children, Derek (Shannon) Schrag of Wichita, Pamela Friess of Mulvane and Jerol (Becky) Schrag of Hesston; siblings Jo &amp; Gail Arrowsmith, Newton, Jane &amp; Art Childs, Hutchinson, Jeanette &amp; Dohn Fast, Hutchinson, and Jerry Schrag, Hutchinson; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his loving parents.

Luba Korobka Holm Brinkman was born on June 17, 1939 in the Ukraine (former USSR).&nbsp; At the age of 2, she moved to Germany with her family where they spent time in a work camp during World War II.&nbsp; The family immigrated to the United States when she was 13, where they settled in Newton, KS.&nbsp; She married Glenn Holm and was blessed with 6 children.&nbsp; In addition to being a full time mother, she worked at Hehr Windows for 35 + years.&nbsp; She later married Gerald Brinkman in 1983.

Luba was an avid churchgoer, devoting years of service to the Peabody United Methodist Church and later to the Pathway Church of Wichita.&nbsp; Luba loved her community, her family and her Lord.&nbsp; She was a mother and grandmother to all.&nbsp; She was affectionately known as “little grandma” by her great grandchildren.&nbsp; Her cooking and baking will certainly be missed, but she will forever be remembered for her famous hugs.&nbsp; She also enjoyed putting together puzzles with roommate and friend Marie, her boxing classes, listening to Elvis, and spending time with loved ones.&nbsp;&nbsp; She loved telling others how blessed she was with her friends and family.

Luba arrived in her forever home on November 9, 2021, just in time to celebrate her son George’s 60th birthday.

Luba is survived by daughter Annette (Eric) Ferrell of Denton, TX; daughter Debbie (David) Pusateri of Wichita, KS; son Richard Holm of Peabody, KS; daughter Liz (John) Snelling of Augusta, KS; daughter Traci (Paul) Hines of Wichita, KS; daughter&nbsp; Lisa (Brian) McDowell of Baldwin City, KS; son James (Janette) Brinkman of Chanute, KS; brother George (Virginia) Korobka of Hays, KS; brother Victor Korobka of Newton, KS; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; dog Bentley, and many dear friends.

Luba Korobka Holm Brinkman was born on June 17, 1939 in the Ukraine (former USSR).&nbsp; At the age of 2, she moved to Germany with her family where they spent time in a work camp during World War II.&nbsp; The family immigrated to the United States when she was 13, where they settled in Newton, KS.&nbsp; She married Glenn Holm and was blessed with 6 children.&nbsp; In addition to being a full time mother, she worked at Hehr Windows for 35 + years.&nbsp; She later married Gerald Brinkman in 1983.Luba was an avid churchgoer, devoting years of service to the Peabody United Methodist Church and later to the Pathway Church of Wichita.&nbsp; Luba loved her community, her family and her Lord.&nbsp; She was a mother and grandmother to all.&nbsp; She was affectionately known as “little grandma” by her great grandchildren.&nbsp; Her cooking and baking will certainly be missed, but she will forever be remembered for her famous hugs.&nbsp; She also enjoyed putting together puzzles with roommate and friend Marie, her boxing classes, listening to Elvis, and spending time with loved ones.&nbsp;&nbsp; She loved telling others how blessed she was with her friends and family.Luba arrived in her forever home on November 9, 2021, just in time to celebrate her son George’s 60th birthday.Luba is survived by daughter Annette (Eric) Ferrell of Denton, TX; daughter Debbie (David) Pusateri of Wichita, KS; son Richard Holm of Peabody, KS; daughter Liz (John) Snelling of Augusta, KS; daughter Traci (Paul) Hines of Wichita, KS; daughter&nbsp; Lisa (Brian) McDowell of Baldwin City, KS; son James (Janette) Brinkman of Chanute, KS; brother George (Virginia) Korobka of Hays, KS; brother Victor Korobka of Newton, KS; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; dog Bentley, and many dear friends.She was preceded in death by parents Anatoly (Tony) and Anna Korobka; first husband Glenn Holm; second husband Gerald Brinkman; sister and Brother in Law Switlana and Stan Briar; son George Holm; son Frank Brinkman; daughter-in-law Josie Holm; and dog Junior.Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Peabody United Methodist Church. Carol attended St. Mary of the Plains School in Dodge City, Kansas.&nbsp; She worked for Standard Liquor as a sales lady in Houston, Texas and later worked in liquor sales in the Topeka, Kansas area.&nbsp; Carol married the love of her life, William Werner on September 25, 1996.&nbsp; They owned and operated B &amp; C Trucking, where they both drove their own tractor trailers.&nbsp; Later years Carol worked in sales and bookkeeping for Comanche Beverage in Dodge City, Kansas, Ad Sales for the Dodge City Daily Globe and at the Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau.&nbsp; Carol was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, a Girl Scout Leader, and a member of the St. Teresa Catholic Church in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Carol enjoyed her family and friends, music, dancing, and flowers.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents David and Phyllis Minet, son Davey, and brother Dennis Minet.

Carol is survived by her husband Bill Werner of the home.&nbsp; Daughter Fay Binder ( Dan), Son Barry Wood ( Tracy), Stepdaughter Jody Ehrich(Aaron) and Stepson Wade Werner ( Valerie).&nbsp; 13 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great- Great Granddaughter.

Dallas served four years in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he earned both a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.&nbsp; He became a fireman in 1957, serving as Hutchinson Fire Chief for 20 years, prior to his retirement in 1996.&nbsp; Dallas was also instrumental in starting the Fire Science program at Hutchinson Community College.&nbsp; He was a member of International Fire Chiefs, Kansas Fire Chiefs, and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.&nbsp; In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling with the “Super Seniors” and “Silver Toppers”, and volunteering at The Salvation Army.

On August 15, 1959, he married June Linhart, in Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Dallas is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of over 62 years, June of Hutchinson; sons, Dale Jones (Janice) of Wichita, and Terry Jones (Kathy) of Halstead; grandchildren, Matthew Jones of Boonville, MO, Jake Jones of Wichita, Logan Jones of Chicago, IL, and Sarah Ronnfeldt of Boonville, MO; and three great-granddaughters.

John David Angell, 81, of Medicine Lodge, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Kiowa District Manor, Kiowa. He was born on May 16, 1940 in Alva, OK, the son of John Angell and Leora (Klusman) Angell. On May 21, 1961, he married Judy (Crosby) Angell in Medicine Lodge. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2020. John was a truck driver and Catholic by Faith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are one daughter Tammy (Russell)Angell-Countryman of Hardtner; Four grandchildren, Judy Angell, Julie Roundy, David D. John David Angell, 81, of Medicine Lodge, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Kiowa District Manor, Kiowa. He was born on May 16, 1940 in Alva, OK, the son of John Angell and Leora (Klusman) Angell. On May 21, 1961, he married Judy (Crosby) Angell in Medicine Lodge. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2020. John was a truck driver and Catholic by Faith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are one daughter Tammy (Russell)Angell-Countryman of Hardtner; Four grandchildren, Judy Angell, Julie Roundy, David D. Lila Lee Kemph, 74, passed away on November 4, 2021, at Newton Medical Center in Newton.

She was born on March 11, 1947, in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd Henry and Edna Lois (Winner) Schanfeld. Lila attended New Hampton High School, graduating with the class of 1965.

On March 4, 1967, Lila was united in marriage to Floyd Kemph at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Newton. This past March they celebrated their 54th&nbsp;wedding anniversary.

For 43 years Lila was employed as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Kruse at Tom Kruse DDS in Newton.

Lila enjoyed her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and her weekly bowling league with Eastgate Bowling Alley, she also loved attending her daily workout classes with her best friend Terri Marshall at the local YMCA. She was also a loyal member of the East Side United Methodist Church.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her home cooking welcomed others into her home, especially with her family.

Lila is survived by her husband, Floyd Kemph; mother, Edna Schanfeld; daughters, Shelly (Todd) Bryant and Christy (Dennis) Stoots; grandchildren, Evan and Grayson Bryant, Elizabeth (Ben) Hundley and Ethen Stoots; great-granddaughter, Emerson; and sister, Lee (Jim) Foley.

She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Schanfeld.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the East Side United Methodist Church (1520 E. Broadway, Newton). Masks should be worn in respect of Lila’s wishes. Lila would also never want anyone to wear black, as she wanted this to be a celebration of her life.

Through the years Sharon worked as a Account Clerk for the Larned Correctional Facility, Larned State Hospital and Larned Courthouse. She also worked as a Owner and Operator of Economy Hearing Aide Center, McPherson, for the last 13 years. Sharon was a member of Foursquare Church and the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed camping, fishing, going south for the winter, cooking for her family and loved spending time with her friends and family. Sharon was a loving wife, mother, grandma and GGMa, who loved the Lord. Her greatest joy was knowing her family also loved the Lord! Sharon Kay Riedl was united in marriage to Brett Sohl on March 4, 1983 in Larned. The couple established their first home together in Larned. Leslie Deighton, Jr., age 83, passed away on Nov. 8, 2021 at the Stafford County Hospital, Stafford, KS.&nbsp; He was born on Nov. 19, 1937 at Larned, the son of Leslie A. and Clara (Elmore) Deighton, Sr.&nbsp; On Nov. 30, 1957, he married Barbara Lyda at Alva, OK., she survives.&nbsp; A resident of Macksville, KS., since 1967, he was the owner and operator of Les Deighton Sales and Repair in downtown Macksville. &nbsp;He was a member of the Fort Larned Good Sam’s Camping Club.&nbsp; Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home; two sons, David (Tracy) Deighton, St. John, Dale (Sara) Deighton, Hill City; two daughters, Debbie (Tracy) Bright, Macksville, Dayna (Mark) Smith, Great Bend; a sister, Jean Gross, Larned; 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Geraldine Kay Hopp, 85, of Goessel passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Bethesda Home of Goessel.  Geraldine was born January 9, 1936 in Manhattan, to the late Harold G. and the late Effie M. (Glenn) Siron.  She married Earl Hopp on August 17, 1952 at Atchison.  

Geraldine was a wife and homemaker.  She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Marquette.

Geraldine is survived by numerous extended family members.

Verla Marie Whitney, 90, of South Hutchinson, passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2021.&nbsp; There is no greater gift in this life than to love and be loved.&nbsp; Verla will be forever honored as a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.&nbsp; She was born on November 10, 1930 in Ellsworth,&nbsp; to Beatrice J. ( Allen) and Edward W. Buffington.&nbsp; She attended the local grade schools and graduated from Marquette High School in 1948 and graduated from Brown Mackie Business College in 1949.

Verla retired as an insurance agent and office manager of Insurance Center of Kansas in South Hutchinson, Kansas after 38 years of service.&nbsp; She was also self-employed as an Income Tax preparer for 34 years.&nbsp; Verla was united in marriage to Merle Ingemanson on February 4, 1950.&nbsp; Merle and Verla enjoyed 23 happy years together in Hutchinson, Kansas and loved spending time with their families and hosting big family dinners.&nbsp; During that time four children were born, Larry, Vicky, Debbie, and Patricia.&nbsp; Merle preceded her in death on November 2, 2015.&nbsp; She had a second marriage to Loren Whitney on August 15, 1976 and lived in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Loren preceded her in death.&nbsp; Verla loved cooking, playing golf and dancing.&nbsp; She also loved being outside working in the yard and gardening and always grew the most beautiful flowers.

Verla was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice J. ( Allen) and Edward W. Buffington, her sisters Kathleen Honomichl and Janice Burgess and her son Larry Douglas.&nbsp;

Irvin Harms was born September 18, 1928 at 3:00 pm. He died at Pine Village on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the age of 93. He was born in Harvey County to Leonard O. and Martha Penner Harms. He grew to manhood on a farm east of Newton, except for four years when the family lived at Newport, Washington. He graduated from Candy Grade School but never completed high school. Due to the family needing help, he started working for various farmers in the community. Upon confession of his faith he was baptized June 13, 1943 by Rev. J. J. Voth. He joined Gnadenberg (Grace Hill) Church, later changing his membership to Eden Mennonite Church of Moundridge where he served as a trustee and usher for many years.

June 13, 1947 he married Evelyn Stucky at the Eden Mennonite Church by Rev. Peter J. Dyck. May 5, 1952 Evelyn was called home to her Lord and Saviour leaving two young children, Thomas Dean and Barbara Jean. June 9, 1953 the family was completed with the marriage to Evelyn Friesen at the First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro, by Rev. Arnold Nickel. To this union, two more children were added, David Alan and Carolyn Jane.

He enjoyed serving on the board of the Kansas State Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) as well as the National Board. He made many friends while serving in MDS. Some of the states that he helped in were Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas, Colorado, Kentucky, South Dakota, Mississippi, and Kansas.&nbsp; He also served on the Credit Union Board in Moundridge for 9 years.&nbsp;

Irvin enjoyed farming for many years as well as many years helping with carpenter jobs. Surviving Irvin’s passing are his wife, Evelyn (Friesen) Harms; and children, Thomas (Tom) and wife Darlene of McPherson,&nbsp; Barbara and husband John D. Darney of N. Jackson, Ohio, David and wife Cathy of Corry, PA and Carolyn and husband Kyle Janzen of Hesston;&nbsp;10 grandchildren, Craig Harms, Christine Schrag, Timothy Darney, John Darney, Jessica McAllister, Julia Darney, Lindsey Koehn, Michael Janzen, Matthew Harms, and Joshua Harms; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his first wife, Evelyn Stucky; parents, Leonard O. and Martha Penner Harms; stepmother, Elizabeth (Schmidt) Harms; and his brothers and sisters, Victor Harms, Ruth Wiebe, Elmer Harms, Lillian Leppke, Sylvester Harms, Willard Harms, &amp; Velma Fast.

Glenna Lynn (Schmidt) Schrag passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Glenna was born on March 6, 1936, at Goessel, Kansas to Rubina (Voth) and John D. Schmidt.&nbsp;

Glenna graduated from Buhler High School in 1954 and attended Bethel College.&nbsp; She married Kenneth Gilbert Schrag at Buhler Mennonite Church on September 26, 1956.&nbsp;

Glenna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Darrell Schmidt; sister, Dellis Dick; and nephew, Doyle Dick.

Glenna is survived by husband, Kenny Schrag; daughter and son-in-law, Lynnette and Glenn Suderman (Garnett); son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Robin Schrag (Moundridge); son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Amy Schrag (Pratt); grandchildren, Kelsi Chisholm, Grant Suderman, Michelle Schrag, Cambry Gossett, Hayden Schrag, and Wyatt Schrag; great-grandchildren, Scout and Nolan Chisholm; step-great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Presley Gossett; sister, Kathy Rauckman; and brother, John Schmidt.
