Issac was a freshman at Hutchinson High school. He loved music and dancing and had dreams of becoming a DJ and singer. He played video games and loved to spend time outside, going for walks in the park. Issac had a special relationship with his cousins, Jazz and Ray, best friends, Hailey and Sebastian, and his three dogs.

He is survived by: mother, Brittanya; father, Brian Stockemer; brothers, Cameron Jones and Joseph Stockemer; grandmother, Mary Cameron; grandparents, Joseph and Marilyn Jones; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary. A celebration of life hosted by the family will follow. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.

Willis was born on December 30, 1925, near Climax, Kansas, the daughter of Dale and Doris (Shobe) Cross. She grew up in Greenwood County, Kansas. She graduated from high school at Neal, Kansas and from Kansas State University in 1948. She taught school and was a doctor’s receptionist, bookkeeper, and secretary. On December 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to Phil R. Freeman at Hamilton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1975. She lived in California and at Fairchild Air Force at Spokane, Washington from 1950 to 1954 while Phil was in the United States Air Force. Prior to moving to McPherson, Kansas in 1967, she lived in several communities in western Kansas. Willis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1967. Lois was born on August 15, 1927, in a cabin on her father’s homestead in Gavilan, New Mexico. She loved the farm life and one of her favorite pastimes was hunting for arrowheads and Indian artifacts. She was one of 14 children born to her parents, ten girls and four boys. She met Jonathan Edwards Allmon who lived with his family in the area, and they married in 1947. They had six children, five boys and one girl. Lois and Johnnie relocated to Lovington, New Mexico and eventually to McPherson, Kansas in 1955. Lois was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She worked as a nurse aide and a school bus driver. Later in life, she married Elmer Richards, and they spent 48 years together. Lois made wedding cakes and enjoyed bowling and camping. She liked to paint pictures and played musical instruments. She and Elmer enjoyed traveling and loved working on puzzles and games. She loved her dogs, BoBo, Missy, and Benjiboy. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; infant son, Paul Allmon; son, Delbert Allmon; step-son, Arlen Richards; granddaughter, Charlotte Allmon; grandson, Mark Richards; daughter-in-law, Young Richards; and nine siblings. Phyllis V. “Vel” Swarts 80, died December 2, 2021 at Paramount Health and Rehab in Newton. She was born March 29, 1941 in Florence, Kansas to Ira R. and Margaret L. (Collins) Kelsheimer.&nbsp; She attended Florence Schools and was retired as a cafeteria food service worker at the St. Mary School Cafeteria where she cared for many children through the years.

She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed her 70’s music.&nbsp; Phyllis was affectionately known as “Mom Swarts” to her children’s friends as they were growing up. Family was a priority to her and she greatly enjoyed cooking and baking with her grandkids and sharing her love of sweets.&nbsp; She always enjoyed a good cup of coffee and conversation. A special memory her grandkids have is G-Ma having gum for them.

She also enjoyed old TV shows especially Andy Griffith and the movies Gone with the wind and It’s a wonderful life were close to her heart.

Phyllis is survived by her sons: Lynn (Beth) Swarts Jr; Laron (Cindy) Swarts and Gregory (Molly) Swarts; daughter Lori (Tom) Bedlington; one brother David (Laurie) Kelsheimer and two sister Cheryl (Lowell) Miller and Regina (Bob) Cornelius. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son Gary Lee Swarts, Granddaughter Amber Dawn Swarts, brothers Ron Kelsheimer and Dennis Kelsheimer.

Graveside committal service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence, Kansas.&nbsp; Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.

Debra Elaine (McNabb) Wehry, 68 years old, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born in Wellington, Kansas to George and Stella (Little) McNabb.&nbsp; She was a life long resident of Kansas, but lived for about 12 years in Alameda, California.&nbsp; Debra was a graduate of Wichita Heights High School in Wichita and attended Butler County Community College, El Dorado, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was a licensed Beautician in California, then went to work for the Military Base in Alameda.&nbsp;&nbsp;She enjoyed spending time playing pogo online and watching Castle on Hulu.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents George &amp; Stella McNabb and her daughter, Joy Lynn.

Debra is survived by her husband, Harvey, sister Nancy, brother Dennis, sons Jason and Jerry, grandchildren,&nbsp; Chloe, Ariana, and Levi; many other family and friends.

Ruth Miller, 102; former missionary to Burundi, Africa, passed peacefully into glory to be with her Jesus on Tuesday, December 2, 2021, at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson, KS.

Ruth was born January 1, 1919 in Henryetta, OK, the daughter of Joseph Luther and Mary Elizabeth (Hall) Madden. She graduated High School in 1938, went to State College in Ada, Oklahoma, where she graduated with a Life Time Teaching Certificate. Ruth moved back to her hometown to teach Speech and English.  During that time, God made it clear that he wanted her to be a missionary. In obedience, she enrolled at Bethany Nazarene College to prepare herself.  On June 4, 1944, Ruth married Alfred Miller, the love of her life and partner in missionary endeavors.

Aside from several years spent in the States, Ruth and Alfred served effectively as missionaries in Central Africa from 1946 until 1991.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Izzy Madden; husband, Alfred Miller; sisters, Florene Madden, Margaret Decker and Allene Pitman; brothers, David Madden, and Frank Madden; daughter-in-law, Jacque Miller; and granddaughter, Kristin Rathbun.

Ruth is survived by her four children; Fred (Marvia) Miller of Colby KS, Grady (Carol) Miller of Bolton KS, David Miller of Fort Collins CO, and Ruthie Kemper of Wichita KS; nine grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 7, at the Manchester Cemetery in Manchester, OK. Memorials may be sent to Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS 67502.  All contributions will go towards the missionary projects in Burundi Africa.

Mary Ann’s life began on Sunday June 9, 1946, in Saugus, MA. She was the daughter of Arthur B. and Frances (Gerty) Holmes. Mary Ann worked for several area businesses like Marion Manor and an egg processor in Newton but her favorite job was the eighteen plus years she made donuts at Carlson’s Grocery in Marion. She loved visiting her family and she was the family caregiver. Mary Ann took care of both her parents at the end of their lives. Her loving family includes her husband Billy of Marion; children Mary Frances Pankratz of Salina and Charles (Lori’Ann) Smithhart of Hillsboro; siblings Tommy (Chris) Holmes of Wichita and nephews and niece Sharon Mitchell, Stephen Smith, and Frank Smith. Mary Ann passed away on Thursday December 2, 2021, at NMC Health in Newton. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Ellen Smith and brother Jimmy Holmes. Her family will gather with friends to share stories on Friday December 10, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion. Kathryn Elaine Davenport, 79, of Hutchinson, died December 3, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born February 23, 1942, in Lyons, to Frank B. and Melba L. (Smith) Runyan.

Elaine graduated from Windom High School in 1960 and Hutchinson Community College. She worked in the accounting department of Kwik Shop and also as a Kwik Shop store manager. Elaine then became a co-owner and operator of Gambino’s Pizza at various locations, including South Hutchinson for 15 years. She enjoyed gardening, painting, and crafting, but her favorite hobby was her grandchildren. Elaine was of the Christian faith.

On October 11, 1963, she married John W. Davenport, in Hutchinson. They shared 58 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: daughter, Karmen Davenport of Manhattan; son, Jason Davenport and wife Angie of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Abbie and Griffin Davenport; brothers, Steve Runyan and friend Sharon Watson of Caldwell, Royce and LeAnn Runyan of Cape Fair, MO; and many extended family members.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, John Grayson Davenport.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2021, at Elliott Chapel. Private family burial will follow in Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Betty Jean Greever, 81, passed away November 30, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born September 1, 1940, in Hutchinson, to Bernard Paul and Arlie Irene (Taylor) Hiebert.

Betty was a 1958 graduate of Nickerson High School, and graduated from Sidney’s Hairdressing College, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Co-owner operator of Grave Builders and designed multiple homes in Hutchinson.

She was a 35-year member of the Silver Leaf Chapter #434 Order of Eastern Star, Hutchinson, lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, charter member of Central Kansas Landlord Association, longtime member of the Salt City Cruisers Car Club, and Zion Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, Salt City Square Dance Club, past guardian of &nbsp;Job’s Daughter, Bethel 15 and member of The Daughters of the Nile.&nbsp; She was a beautician and the owner/president of BJ’s Investments.

&nbsp;Betty was married to the father of her children, Robert Alan Graves, and they later divorced.&nbsp; On April 2, 1983, she married Richard Wayne Greever in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 38 years of marriage.

Betty is survived by:&nbsp; husband, Richard W. Greever of Hutchinson; children, William Graves of Hutchinson, Jon D. (Amy) Graves of Crofton, MD, Leslie (Craig) Pedersen of Hutchinson, and Kathy Graves (Bryan) Speir of Hutchinson; siblings, Ardith May, Ralph (Toni) Hiebert, and Glynnis Tedder, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Aria (Jared Hatcher) Pedersen, Neil Pedersen, Noah Pedersen, Nyle Pedersen, Brock (Rachelle) Stewart, Tyler Speir, Theoren Speir, Lauren Paige Speir, Isaac Speir, Robert ‘Bobby’ Graves, and Grayson Campbell Graves; and three great-grandchildren, Everly, Sophie, and Keaton.

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her step parents; son, Steven Greever; siblings, Paul Hiebert, Vera Ummel, and Phyllis Balzer; brother-in-law, Tim Tedder; and niece, Emily Tedder.

Orman Eugene Schmidt, 82, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at Center Point Medical Center, Independence, Missouri.

Orman was born in Galva, Kansas on February 12, 1939, a son of Dave and Dena (Nightingale) Schmidt.

Orman attended South Diamond Elementary School, Galva, Kansas and attended Moundridge High School, Moundridge, Kansas.

Through the years Orman worked for Skyline Mobile Home Mfg., Halstead, Kansas, co-owned and operated Champlin Gas Station, McPherson, Kansas and the County of McPherson Solid Waste Department, McPherson, Kansas.

Orman enjoyed trap shooting, playing softball,hunting and loved watching his grand kids sporting events and spending time with his friends and family.

Orman E. Schmidt was united in marriage to Glenda F. Unruh on Dec. 7, 1957 in Las Cruces, New Mexico . The young couple established their first home together in Moundridge. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Julie, Jeanne and Larry. In 1977 the family moved to McPherson, Kansas.

Orman Eugene Schmidt, 82, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at Center Point Medical Center, Independence, Missouri.Orman was born in Galva, Kansas on February 12, 1939, a son of Dave and Dena (Nightingale) Schmidt.Orman attended South Diamond Elementary School, Galva, Kansas and attended Moundridge High School, Moundridge, Kansas.Orman was raised in the Mennonite faith.Through the years Orman worked for Skyline Mobile Home Mfg., Halstead, Kansas, co-owned and operated Champlin Gas Station, McPherson, Kansas and the County of McPherson Solid Waste Department, McPherson, Kansas.Orman enjoyed trap shooting, playing softball,hunting and loved watching his grand kids sporting events and spending time with his friends and family.Orman E. Schmidt was united in marriage to Glenda F. Unruh on Dec. 7, 1957 in Las Cruces, New Mexico . The young couple established their first home together in Moundridge. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Julie, Jeanne and Larry. Patricia Ann "Patsy" Gatz, 91, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:45 pm, Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 at her home.

Pat was born in McPherson, Kansas on December 1, 1930, a daughter of Ralph Lawson and Audene Florence (Lusher) Jones. She was one of three daughters born to this union, Barbara, Pat, and Merna. Growing up she was Baptized and became a member of the First Christian Church.

Pat attended Roosevelt grade school, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1948.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church McPherson, Kansas where she served as a Deacon.

Patricia Ann "Patsy" Jones was united in marriage to Frederick William "Fritz" Gatz on July 18, 1948 at the First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of three daughters, Mindy, Kathy, and Debbie.

Pat was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked as the Head of the Motor Vehicles Department for McPherson County and co-owned, operated and worked for Bates, Gatz, and Regier Accounting and Income Tax and a sales person for Western Associates, Marion, Kansas.

Pat was a member of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary, V.F.W. Post 2715 Ladies Auxiliary, the Amity Club, and volunteered and worked at the Apt 6 for the McPherson Opera House. She enjoyed collecting Dreamsicles with Deb, Tom, and Barb, taking trips with Mindy and Greg and nieces each year for the last 10 years, gambling trips with Deb, Tom, and Barb, and going to Hawaii with Mindy and Deb. She also enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales with Tom, and playing with her granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

She is survived by her children, Melinda "Mindy" Rhoads and husband Greg, of Marquette, Kansas and Debbie Hamb and husband Tom, of McPherson, Kansas; her granddaughter, Summer Olsen and husband David, of Lindsborg, Kansas; great-granddaughter, Sophie Olsen, of Lindsborg, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Audene and Ralph Jones; sisters, Barbara Meats and Merna Pritchard; a daughter, Kathy Gatz; a grandson Jake Rhoads; and her husband Fritz Gatz.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6th 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in McPherson, Kansas.

E. (VanHorn) Neufeld, 98, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, in Garnet,
KS, surrounded by her loved ones.

Eleanor was born June 15, 1923, in Atchinson, KS, the
daughter of Joseph and Mary (Peters) VanHorn.&nbsp; On October 24, 1963, she
married Ed Neufeld.&nbsp; She was a homemaker.
Eleanor went with Ed on the truck and surprised all their children when they
came back married.&nbsp; After they were
married, they made their home in Hutchinson.&nbsp;
Ed passed away on January 8, 2000.&nbsp;
Eleanor loved camping, traveling, playing cards and dominos, cooking
making peppernuts and zwiebacks for her family.

&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Ed; sons, Eddie, Richard, Jerry and Larry Neufeld; daughters, Peggy and Pam;
two grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers, Clarence, William, Leo, and
Raymond VanHorn; sisters, Florence, Lucille, Marie, Thelma, Josephine and

Bill’s life began on Monday, August 6, 1934, in Newton, KS. He was the son of Arthur J. and Mabel (Willey) Robinson. Bill was a Class of 1952 graduate of Florence High School. He was united in marriage to Beverly Lambert on July 9, 1955, and she preceded him in death on September 1, 1989. Bill married again to the former Edna (Rothgeb) Rausch on November 16, 1996, in Longton, KS. He was a cattleman and rancher on the family property that has been in the family since 1903. In 1956 he married Beverly and moved to Chase County where he worked for Crofoot Cattle Company while Bev attended KSTC. In 1964 he returned to the farm where they raised their family and he continued to live. Bill was a farmer/stockman while the children were growing up. He also worked in Newton at Kinder/Congoleum Furniture Manufacturing, driving a truck, and later, as a dispatcher and manager. The kids each remember getting to go with him on a couple of short trips in the truck.

Bill was a member of the Florence United Methodist Church, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and a charter member of the Kansas Livestock Association. He enjoyed working with his feeder cattle, watching sports and especially K-State basketball. His great joy was his family which includes his wife Edna of Florence; children Mark Robinson of Marion, Cheryl ( Don) Doty of Emporia and Linda (Greg) Carlson of Marion; grandchildren Sam ( Sharon) Doty, Carla (Dave) Tharp, Jenni (Bryce) Holbrook, Nick (Ashley) Carlson, Melissa ( Jake) Smith, Beverly (Kaleb) Knoettgen and Cordell Robinson; great-grandchildren Jacob, Ryan, Claire, Justus, Makinna, Laekyn, Devin, Maisie, Ella, Millie, Evie and Chase; his siblings Edwin Robinson of Florence, and Mary Ann (Troy) Craig of Henderson, TX.

Phyllis Hein Landis, 79, passed away on November 30, 2021, at her home in rural Marion Kansas after a courageous battle with cancer. Phyllis was born to William and Catherine Hein on September 23, 1942 at her grandparent’s farm east of Marion. She married Claude Landis on August 19, 1979. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father Bill in 1972, and her mother Catherine in 2019; as well as brothers Vernon Hein in 2017, and Charles Hein in 2003. Phyllis Hein Landis |1942-2021|

William Martin Silverstrand, or “Bill”, as he was fondly known by most, passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living, in McPherson, on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, at the age of 88. Bill was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on October 16th, 1933, to Martin E. and Edith B. Silverstrand. Bill was educated in the Council Bluffs Public Schools, attending Harrison Elementary School, and then Abraham Lincoln High School, where he graduated in 1951. After graduation, Bill enrolled at Creighton University, where he earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree in 1958. Bill went on to obtain a Master’s of Science Degree, in 1965, from the Kansas State Teachers College, in Emporia, Kansas. It was during his time in Emporia that Bill would meet his future wife, Jean I. Oltmanns. The two wed on June 10th, 1970, in Hutchinson, Kansas, and then moved on to Newton, Iowa, where they would both spend a number of years teaching. Bill began teaching in Newton's middle school, and would conclude his teaching career, as a media-specialist, at Newton High School. In 1992, Bill and Jean returned to Kansas, where they built a home in McPherson, to be closer to Jean’s family. There they joined St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and were active in the parish for many years, donating time, talent and treasure to various projects. As a lifelong historian, Bill was known to have volunteered his time with the Kansas Historical Society, focusing his efforts on their work along the Santa Fe Trail, in McPherson County. Bill’s other community contributions included: his loyal delivery of “meals on wheels” throughout the McPherson community; his time spent volunteering at the McPherson Senior Center; and his weekly presence and support of the McPherson Public Library. At home, Bill enjoyed spending his time as a Master Gardener, dominoes player, avid reader and lifetime subscriber to numerous periodicals. Bill will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband of 42 years to his wife, Jean; and as a brother, uncle, teacher, good neighbor and friend to many. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; his sister, Veronica Melton; and his brother, Larry Silverstrand. Bill is survived by his sister-in law, Alice Silverstrand, of Omaha, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. with Rosary starting at 10:00 on Tuesday, December 7th 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson. Bill’s other community contributions included: his loyal delivery of “meals on wheels” throughout the McPherson community; his time spent volunteering at the McPherson Senior Center; and his weekly presence and support of the McPherson Public Library. At home, Bill enjoyed spending his time as a Master Gardener, dominoes player, avid reader and lifetime subscriber to numerous periodicals. Bill will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband of 42 years to his wife, Jean; and as a brother, uncle, teacher, good neighbor and friend to many. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; his sister, Veronica Melton; and his brother, Larry Silverstrand. Bill is survived by his sister-in law, Alice Silverstrand, of Omaha, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. with Rosary starting at 10:00 on Tuesday, December 7th 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7th 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating. Final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.

William "Bill" Martin Silverstrand  |1933-2021| 

Marilee Moody Eaton, 71, died peacefully in her sleep on December 1, 2021, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas.

She was born on October 7, 1950, in Antioch, California, to Gilman and Marijo Moody. She graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1970.

She met her husband and love of her life, Francis Eaton, in 1976. Together they raised 3 amazing children – Kimberly, Jason, and Sara.

Mary worked all her life as a caregiver at Friendly Acres in Newton, Kansas. She was a skilled crocheter and cross stitcher. During her lifetime she crocheted over 100 angel blankets for new babies. She also crocheted hundreds of blankets and shawls. All are works of arts and cherished by the many friends and family members that received them.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by two daughters and one son, Kimberly (Steve) Harris of Nixa, Missouri; Jason Eaton of Newton, Kansas; and Sara (Terry) Rodenberg of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Billey Ann Davis (Bill) of Olathe, Kansas; and five grandsons, Bryce, Tyler and Noah Rodenberg, and James and Kyle Harris.

The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 11th, 2021, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas, with a family graveside prayer to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Randall “Randy” Abrahams 71, died December 1, 2021 at NMC Health. He was born December 14, 1949 in Newton, Kansas to Elmer and Hazel (Porter) Abrahams.&nbsp; On March 11, 1992 he married Cathy Stanhope at Newton and she survives of the home.

Randy attended First Baptist Church as he was growing up in Newton.&nbsp; He was a 1967 graduate of Newton High School and retired from Boeing Aircraft as a Machinist.

He enjoyed working in the yard and garden and spending time working in his garage on projects.&nbsp; Randy was a upbeat person and always had a smile happy greeting for people around town.

He is survived by his wife Cathy of the home; daughters Lisa Barham and Stacey Reffner; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bradley and Bevan and sister Camilla Kochenower.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas.
