Donald G. “Don” Carlson, 70, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Hospice House in Hutchinson.  He was born May 14, 1951, in Great Bend, the son of Edwin and Ferne (Hoffman) Carlson.

He graduated from Ellinwood High School with the class of 1969.

Don served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973, attaining the rank of Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class.

Don worked at Hutchinson Correctional Facility as a corrections officer for over 20 years.  He was a member of the Hutchinson Masonic Lodge #124 and Nickerson Masonic Lodge #43.

He was united in marriage to Cheryl Neufeldt on February 14, 1981 in Inman.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Chris (Chelle) Carlson of Wichita; five grandchildren, Alec Carlson, Jett Seyfert, Rosie Ruiz, Travis Rupert, and McKayla Rini; brothers, Lawrence Carlson (Tami Wilkinson) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Chuck (Cecile) Carlson of Omaha, Nebraska; and sister, Bertie Reynolds (Regan Van Pelt).

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Ernie, John, Lee and twin, Ron.

Cremation is planned.  Family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Buhler Mortuary.  Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 22, at Inman North Cemetery, Inman, with military honors.
