Evelyn Mae (Powell) Frazer, 92, passed peacefully Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1930 in Kalvesta, Kansas to Wiley Victor and Mary Lavina (Baldwin) Powell. She was the seventh of eight children. Evelyn married Edwin "Jack" Dwight Frazer on January 7, 1951 in Kalvesta. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2018.
Evelyn graduated from Cimarron High School, then received a business certificate from the Cain-Powell Business College in Dodge City. She worked for the Garden City Police Department and as secretary to the city judge. After she and Jack moved to Pratt and raised their five children, she trained and received state certification as a Nurse Aide and Medication Aide. She worked at what is currently Pratt Health and Rehab until she and Jack moved to Wichita where she continued working in that field before retiring to Pratt. She was a member of the Pratt First Christian Church and Martha Circle Group of Christian Woman's Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening, canning, painting, fishing and spending time with family. After Jack's death, Evelyn moved to Pratt Health and Rehab where she felt at home and liked teasing the staff. Due to health limitations in her later years, she was not able to attend church but enjoyed the televised services First United Methodist Church of Wichita.
She is survived by daughters, Karen (Dale) Nixon of Leawood; Cathy Blasi of Pratt; Sandy (David) Foster of Pratt; and Patricia (Roy) Benz of Independence, Missouri; 9 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, "Jack" Frazer; parents; son, Thomas Edwin Frazer; son-in-law, Roger Blasi; brothers, Marion Powell, Carrol Powell, Loren Powell and Thomas Powell; and sisters, Hazel Sullivan, Lorene Roth and Norma Frey.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt with John Hamm presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. The family asks that face coverings be worn. Thank You. The service will be Webcast at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
