Jack "Jake the Snake" E. Bailey, 72, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 30, 1949 in Pratt to Howard A and Cecil June (Baker) Bailey.
Jack graduated from Pratt High School in 1967. He went on to receive his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Emporia State University in 1972. He worked for Dillons for 39 years in several positions as produce manager, grocery manager, scanning coordinator and safety risk manager. He was a member of Elks Lodge BPOE #1351, where he was an Exaulted Ruler for 2000-2001 and 2016-2017. He enjoyed snake hunting for over 50 years, Las Vegas Raiders, cooking, fishing, watching John Wayne movies, family gatherings and doing the Elks Hoop Shoot and Thanksgiving Baskets and other Elks activities.
He is survived by his son, Kyle Bailey of Pratt; daughter, Jessica (fiance, Chris Chisham) Bailey of Pratt; grandchildren, Ryan Bailey, Ashlynn Colavito, Lauren Franklin and Karson Franklin all of Pratt; niece, Jo-Ann (Terry) Goodness Drake of Michigan; former wife of 41 years, Cheryl McCollum of Pratt; and many other family members and friends.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary (Emmanell) Bailey and John Bailey; nephew, Bill Goodness; brother in-law, David Heeke; brother in-law, Rod Huckriede; and son in-law, John "JJ" Colavito.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2022 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Iuka Cemetery, Iuka.
