He worked as a middle school science and math teacher, wrestling, football and golf coach and principal at Haskins Elementary and Southwest Elementary for Pratt USD 382 since 1995. He earned awards as Elementary School Principal of the Year and Middle School Coach of the Year. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, previous Kiwanis Member and past President of Kansas Association of Elementary School Principals. He enjoyed music, especially U2, movies, nonfiction, lifelong loyal Minnesota Vikings fan, being a Greenback and announcing the football games and other activities, being a dad and spending time with his family. Florence M. Steely, 95, of McPherson, Kansas passed away on March 28, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 15, 1926, at the family home near White City, Kansas, the daughter of Fred A. and Orlena (Kohls) Herpich.&nbsp; Florence was a graduate of Woodbine High School, Woodbine, with the class of 1945.

Upon graduation, Florence went to work with Dr. Emig, an optometrist, as an optometrist assistant in Herington.&nbsp; It was during her employment with Dr. Emig that this young, handsome man came in for an appointment.&nbsp; Glenn B. Steely was that young man who became her life partner.&nbsp; Glenn and Florence were married on October 3, 1948, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, White City.

Through the years of their married life, they lived in several states due to Glenn’s various business activities.&nbsp; Florence was never without a job very long, even with the various moves.&nbsp; She was very good at fitting and adjusting glasses and would work for numerous optometrists, finally retiring from this work at the age of 82.&nbsp; She and Glenn enjoyed extensive travel on their own, with bus trips, and the highlight being able to travel to Russia and Finland.

During her later years, she spent much time oil painting, being self-taught by Bob Ross books, especially in nursing homes with residents observing.

Survivors include her loving and devoted companion and best friend, JD the cat, one brother, Fred L. Herpich, one sister, Elvera Wehmeier, numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one nephew.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Bower officiating.&nbsp; A visitation/viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday morning.&nbsp; Burial will follow the service at McPherson Cemetery.

Florence M. Steely  |1926-2022| 

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, railroad enthusiast and farmer, Willard John McClure, age 91, of Stafford, went to be with his Lord on March 26, 2022. Born on Dec. 27, 1930, he was the only child of Herbert J. McClure and Vieva (Gard) McClure.&nbsp; 

He farmed in Stafford County for over 70 years, first, with his father and later with his sons.&nbsp; On March 3, 1951, he married his helpmate, Phyllis Slade, daughter of Edward and Eleanor (Taylor) Slade.&nbsp;

He attended Stafford Elementary School until the 3rd&nbsp;grade when his parents moved to the Gard homestead southwest of Stafford.&nbsp; There he attended a country school, along with seven other pupils.&nbsp; During World War II, his father moved the family to Hutchinson, to work at Central Gas Corporation and later at Meadow Gold bottling company. &nbsp; While attending Hutchinson public schools, Willard earned his Boy Scout troop’s highest award, an Eagle Scout.&nbsp; During his adolescence, he traveled by train to Michigan to visit relatives, a trip that sparked a deep interest in railroads that continued throughout his life.&nbsp; He rode narrow gauge railroads in Colorado, New Mexico and Pennsylvania and made several trips on Amtrak to Chicago and the West Coast.&nbsp; His parents returned to the farm the summer before his junior year and he graduated from Stafford High School in 1949.&nbsp; It was there that he met his future wife of 66 years, Phyllis Slade, and they were married during his sophomore year while attending Kansas State University.&nbsp; Later, in 1966, he received an associate degree from Pratt Community College.

During the Korean War, Willard served as an aircraft mechanic with the U. S. Army 537th&nbsp;Battery, learning mechanical skills that proved invaluable as a farmer.&nbsp; After stints at San Marcos Army Airfield, TX; Fort Riley, KS; Fort Sill, OK, and Fort Carson, CO, he was honorably discharged in January 1954 and returned to rural Stafford County.&nbsp; There he devoted his career to farming which he loved.&nbsp; He served on the Board of Directors of the Stafford Cooperative, for two terms, and oversaw its merger with the Kanza Cooperative Association. In 1975, he was awarded the Soil Conservation Banker Award.&nbsp; From the mid-1990’s through 2001, he served on the Board of Directors of the Kansas Corn Growers Association, an advocacy organization representing the interests of corn growers in the United States.&nbsp; During his tenure, he traveled to Panama, Mexico and Cuba to share agricultural techniques and encourage trade between the United States and these countries.&nbsp; He was also on the advisory board of the Stafford County Extension and was selected as a Master Farmer by Kansas State University’s Extension program in 2018.

An avowed believer in Jesus Christ, Willard was active in the youth group at First Baptist Church in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Following his return to Stafford, he was a choir member, Sunday School teacher, deacon and trustee in the First Baptist Church of Stafford.&nbsp; He later attended the Stafford United Methodist Church and served as a trustee and on the Pastor/Parish Committee.

Willard was preceded in death by his wife and his oldest son, Douglas.&nbsp; His remaining children are Rebecca (Doug) McClure of Colorado Springs, CO; Cynthia (Tim) Jacobson of Greenville, SC; and Jon (Rhonda) McClure of Stafford, KS.&nbsp; Grandchildren are Miles (Teresa) McClure of Colorado Springs, CO; Mallori (Brandon) Miller of Alexandria, VA; Marcus (Taylor) McClure of Orlando, FL; Jillian Jacobson of Washington, DC; Richard Jacobson (Tanaja) of Cleveland, OH; Dustin McClure of Kansas City, KS and Derek (Ellie) McClure of Stafford, KS.&nbsp; Willard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by the family he left behind.

Weldon Arthur Cook, 81, passed away March 28, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born October 30, 1940, in Hutchinson, to Arthur Sydney and Evelyn Irene (Schnurr) Cook.

Weldon was a 1958 graduate of Partridge High School, Partridge.&nbsp; He was employed as the warehouse manager at Pepsi Cola for 28 years, and then worked for the Kansas State Fair, retiring with 11 years of service.&nbsp; From May 2010 to May 2013, Weldon served as the mayor of the City of South Hutchinson.

On July 7, 1961, he married Jolene Mitzner, in South Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 60 years of marriage.

Weldon is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Jolene Cook of South Hutchinson; children, Troy (Susan) Cook of Nickerson; and Tami Cook of South Hutchinson; grandchildren, Heather (Jesse) Cartwright of Hutchinson; Tyler (Hannah) Cook of Nickerson; and Ryder Cook of Hays; and great-grandchildren, Max Elam, Lucy Elam, Emily Cook, Camden Hummel, and Willow Hummel.

Marian Joan “Jo” Murphy, 91, died March 28, 2022, at Hospice House. She was born January 11, 1931, in Cleveland, MO, to Albert and Beulah (Hockensmith) Witherspoon.

Jo graduated from Waverly High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and very devoted to her husband and family. Jo was an avid quilter who stitched all her quilts by hand. She attended Crestview Bible Church.

On May 20, 1951, Jo married John E. Murphy, in Topeka. He died January 15, 2009.

She is survived by: her daughters, Teri Armstrong of Elizabeth, CO; Julie Trent (Martin) of Inman; Edie Ortmann (Dwight) of Fremont, CA; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

Jo was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, Mildred Luedke, Doris Jeffery, Betty Short, Ola Beuchler, Robert Witherspoon, Marvin Witherspoon, and Leon Witherspoon.

LeRoy Embrose Arseneau, 63, passed away March 29, 2022 at his residence in Hillsboro. He was born April 4, 1958 in Peotone, Illinois to Robert and Joan (Fowler) Arseneau.

Gary Dee Jacobs, 82, passed away March 26, 2022, at Hutchinson Health and Rehab.&nbsp; He was born January 1, 1940, in Lyons, to Melville and Juanita (Clark) Jacobs.

Gary was a 1957 graduate of Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; He worked in the lab at Eaton Corporation, retiring with over 40 years of service.&nbsp; Gary was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

He enjoyed gardening and building koi ponds.&nbsp; Gary had a real love for his animals and wildlife.

On September 1, 1963, he married Pamela Anne Wernet, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 58 years of marriage.

Gary is survived by: his wife, Pam Jacobs of Hutchinson; children, Marc (Barbara) Jacobs of Valley Center, and Heather (Ian) Malcolm of Bailey, CO; grandchildren, Ian Bertolacci, Mourin Malcolm, and Samara Malcolm; siblings, Kay Clark (Jan) Jacobs of Hutchinson, Wallace ‘Jake’ (Theresa) Jacobs of Wichita, and Gaye Stach of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

Linda Kay Baird, 74, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022. She was born on March 3, 1948 in Russell, to George and Thelma (Keil) Wolf. She married Jerry Baird on October 12, 1968. They were married for 53 years. Linda loved and excelled at her job as a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, crafting and scrap booking. She sold crafts at all the local craft shows and her work was loved and taken home by many. She was an avid bingo player and loved spending time with her family and her precious dog, Cooper. She is survived by husband, Jerry; children, Lisa (Donnie) Goertzen, Terry Baird and Michael Baird all of Pratt; sisters, Charlene Graham of Arizona, Mary Schoenberger of Hays, Sharon Wolf of Hays and Kathy (Curt) Kinney of Lawerance; brothers, Willis (Julie) Wolf of Salina, Danny (Patty) Wolf of Hays and Steve (Karen) Wolf of Holcomb; 10 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Donovan J. Stubby (94) passed away Tuesday, March 22 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.  Don was born on July 26, 1927 to Jacob and Edna Stubby. 

 The oldest of nine children he grew up in rural Lehigh.   He went to school in Lehigh and at age 16 went to work in the oil fields for two years.  He served in the Army from 1945 – 1947.  After the Army he returned to Newton and went to work in 1948 for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. 

 In 1949 Don married Neva Jean Luttrell.  They had two children Bryan and Brenda.  Don worked 30 years for Southwestern Bell retiring in 1978.  Along with working for the phone company Don farmed.   He lived south of Newton farming for over 50 years. 

  Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Neva, sisters Lila and Janet, brothers, Earl, Gilmer and Rodney, second wife Doris Brickell, and his daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Ken McGuire.  He is survived by his sister, Helen Saylor and brothers, Loren and Jerry, son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Kristie, granddaughter Shea and husband Preston Neufeld, grandson, Cole Stubby and three great grandsons, Briggs, Banks and Broncs Neufeld. 

  A family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Nancy “Nan” Dowzer Meschke, 93, died March 25, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; She was born September 22, 1928, in Ann Arbor, MI, to Orville L. and Nancy (Curry) Dowzer.

Nan graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1946.&nbsp; She attended Smith College, Northhampton, MA, before graduating from Katharine Gibbs School, Melville, NY, in 1949.&nbsp; Nan was a charter member of the Kansas Cosmosphere, (now known as the International SciEd Center &amp; Space Museum), joining May 10, 1982. &nbsp;&nbsp;For over 30 years, she was also a faithful docent for them.&nbsp; In addition, Nan was member of PEO Chapter BL, Grace Episcopal Church, and Grace Altar Society.&nbsp; She was fiercely independent, but had a heart of gold.&nbsp;

On January 16, 1955, she married Marvin Gus Meschke, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; He died January 20, 2000, after sharing 45 years of marriage.

Nan is survived by:&nbsp; sons, Brad Meschke of Phoenix, AZ; and Jason “Jay” Meschke (Becky) of Overland Park; stepdaughter-in-law, Debbie Meschke of Hutchinson; stepdaughter, Susan Stockwell; brother, Stephen Horrell, Jr. (Cathy); sisters, Elizabeth Schroeder and Margaret Dowzer; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; four step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; three dear nephews and five grand nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Dezzy.

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her mother and stepfather, Nancy and S.B. Horrell; father and stepmother, Orville and Grace Dowzer; stepson, Gus Meschke, and a step granddaughter.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Per Nan’s wishes, there will be no services.

Vivian “Faye” Smith, 100, Hutchinson, passed away March 24, 2022, at Sterling Village, Sterling. She was born May&nbsp;26, 1921, on the family farm in Center Township, Rice County, Kansas to Nevin Sanford and Dena (Monson)&nbsp;Myers.

Faye graduated from Alden High School in 1939. She worked part-time as a bookkeeper for her&nbsp;husband’s business, Smith Auto Supply in Lyons, Kansas from 1952 to 1969, when the business was sold and&nbsp;they moved to Hutchinson. In Hutchinson, she worked part-time in the office at Pegues until 1976 when&nbsp;they retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas.&nbsp;

Faye was a member of the First Christian Church of Lyons.&nbsp;

She&nbsp;enjoyed sewing and cooking for&nbsp;the&nbsp;family, and in retirement she took pleasure in new hobbies of golf, bridge, and more traveling. On July 21, 1940, Faye married Lyle C. Smith in Lyons. Lyle died one month after their 50th wedding&nbsp;anniversary, in August 1990.

She is survived by: two daughters, Sondra Pugh (Buddy), Conway, Ark.; and Diane Battershell&nbsp;(Howard), Hutchinson; four grandchildren: Michelle Maltbia, Conway, Ark.; Brian Pugh, West Fork, Ark.; Keri Renner, Topeka; and Darren Battershell, Ankeny, Iowa; and five great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Maltbia, Bethany Pugh, Grace Renner, Jake Battershell and Luke Battershell. Faye was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Lyle; three brothers; and two sisters. Per Faye’s wishes, there will be no services. Following cremation, a private burial will take place in Lyons&nbsp;Municipal Cemetery, Lyons.

Norene Joy Klos was born on November 22, 1948, in Herington to Harry Adam and Cora Ashwell. Norene passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on March 22, 2022, at Hilltop Lodge Health and Rehab in Beloit.

Besides the last 12 years, Norene was a lifelong resident of Herington, graduating with the class of 1966. Norene spent many years working as a medical clerk on Ft. Riley at Irwin Army Hospital. &nbsp;She also loved to color, making Afghan’s, doing latch hook, participating in the activities at the Hilltop especially the “Geriatric Olympics”. But Norene’s favorite thing to do was watch Elvis movies and listen to Elvis on the radio.&nbsp; Her biggest blessings in life were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with.

Norene is survived by her daughters; Annette Rhymer and husband Jason Heldstab of Council Grove; and Angela Loree of Herington; sister, Betty Kearns of Coffeyville; brother Mark Adam and wife Janet of Herington; grandchildren; Kelsey and Ashton Turner, Skyelar Loree, James, Jordan, Megan, and Samantha Heldstab, and many nieces and nephews. Gary Dean Wichert, 66, passed away March 26, 2022 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born July 14, 1955 in Hutchinson, the son of Marion J. and Anna (Wedel) Wichert.

Gary was in the Buhler High School graduating class of 1973. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher, and also a skilled carpenter. He was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church.

Gary married Bonnie Sue Willems on September 16, 1978 in Inman, Kansas at Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church. She survives of their home.

Other survivors include: sons, Eric (Megan) Wichert of Wichita and Brent (Cindy) Wichert of Buhler; daughter, Estelle Wichert of Wichita; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Pearl (Jim) Wassenaar of Prinsburg, Minnesota, Dorothy (Merlin) Nightingale of Enid, Oklahoma, Shirley Wichert and Faye Wichert both of Hutchinson; brothers, Earl (Sally) Wichert of Hutchinson, Gaylen (Nancy) Wichert of Buhler and LaVerne (Alice) Wichert of Wheatland, Wyoming.

Larry Ray Conkle, 70, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 3, 1951 in Jacksonville, Florida to Veryl and Winona (Chatelain) Conkle. Larry married Linda Gail (Herrman) Conkle on August 11, 1972 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City. They were married for 49 years. Larry graduated from Ensign High School in 1969. He attended Dodge City Community College and Fort Hays State University. He worked as a grain merchandiser for Kanza Coop for 27 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and was a past member of Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed coaching baseball for recreation and travel teams, playing baseball, attending his grandchildren activities, bowling, hunting, fishing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Kristi Conkle of Wichita, Sean (Josie) Conkle of Pratt, Jason (Taryn) Conkle of Pratt and Gini Conkle of Pratt; sister, Paula (Fred) Hofmeister of Claflin; grandchildren, Bryson, Owen, Nolan, Brigham, Stetson, Adley and one more grandchild on the way. Larry Ray Conkle, 70, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 3, 1951 in Jacksonville, Florida to Veryl and Winona (Chatelain) Conkle. Larry married Linda Gail (Herrman) Conkle on August 11, 1972 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City. They were married for 49 years. Larry graduated from Ensign High School in 1969. He attended Dodge City Community College and Fort Hays State University. He worked as a grain merchandiser for Kanza Coop for 27 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and was a past member of Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed coaching baseball for recreation and travel teams, playing baseball, attending his grandchildren activities, bowling, hunting, fishing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Kristi Conkle of Wichita, Sean (Josie) Conkle of Pratt, Jason (Taryn) Conkle of Pratt and Gini Conkle of Pratt; sister, Paula (Fred) Hofmeister of Claflin; grandchildren, Bryson, Owen, Nolan, Brigham, Stetson, Adley and one more grandchild on the way. Larry is preceded in death by his parents. Betty married the love of her life, Arthur Lee Wood on August 16, 1953 in Kinsley. Art preceded her August 16, 2016 after 63 years of marriage. She was also preceded by sons Jay Wood and Bruce Wood, her parents and sister.

Betty is survived by her daughter-in-law Mayumi Soma and grandson Kai, both of Tono, Japan; a niece Linda, cousins and many dear friends. She and Art donated many volunteer hours to the Wichita Symphony, the WSU Music Associates and Chamber Music at the Barn.

Marvin John Goering, 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at his home in rural McPherson, following a brief stay in hospice. Marvin was born on the family farm near Montezuma, on March 29, 1934, the son of Joe J.F. and Emma (Schrag) Goering. He was the sixth of seven children. After the family moved to rural Galva, Kansas, Marvin attended Happy Hollow School and graduated from Galva High School. Throughout his childhood, he worked on the family farm with his parents and siblings. Following 1-W service at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, Colorado, Marvin graduated from Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas in 1958. He later received his Masters Degree in Industrial Education from Emporia State University. On June 4, 1959, Marvin married Mary Beth Funk of rural Hillsboro, Kansas, who was a fellow student at Bethel College. They began married life on a farm near McPherson where they were still living as of Marvin’s death. The couple had two daughters: Anne Elizabeth, born in 1963, and Gail Marie, born in 1964. Marvin farmed land in McPherson County throughout his life. Together with his brothers, he farmed land in other Kansas counties and engaged in various other businesses. Marvin also taught industrial arts, first at Salina South Junior High, and then for more than 25 years at McPherson Junior High (later McPherson Middle School). He served the McPherson County community in various capacities, including on the boards for Rural Water District No. 4, Empire Township, and the National Resources Conservation Service. When he was not farming or fixing things, Marvin enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and watching basketball, auto racing and old movies. He was an avid reader of history and biography. He was fortunate to live within a few miles of his siblings, and the families enjoyed many happy times together. Marvin is survived by his wife, Mary Beth, of rural McPherson; his daughter Anne Groves, husband Jan and granddaughter Lia of Valley Center, Kansas; his daughter Gail Goering of rural Lehigh, Kansas; his brother Kenneth Goering and wife Paula of rural Galva, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Margaret and husband Walter Schrag; his brother Merlin; his brother Virgil and wife Verna; his brother Melvern and wife Erma; and his brother Duane and wife Neva. Max P. Horton, 84, passed away March 25, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born March 3, 1938, in Marion, to H.D. and Esther Jean (Stubbs) Horton.

Max graduated from Wichita East High School in 1956. He was employed as a machinist at Eaton Hydraulics for over 30 years.

Max chose to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1948 and tried to live a life acceptable to Him. He attended Walnut and Campbell Church of Christ in Hutchinson.

One of the things Max was most proud of was the writing of his autobiography for his children and grandchildren to remember him by.

In 1961, Max married Susan Lee. This union was blessed with 3 sons: Greg, Jay, and Scott. In June 1983, he married Sue (Jerauld) Howey and inherited a daughter, Shannon.

Max was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen and graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Hazen Cemetery in Plevna Township.

M. Fern Horn, 101, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:15 pm, Friday, March 25th, 2022 at The Cedars House 805. Fern was born at her parents home in McPherson, Kansas, on January 13, 1921, a daughter of Henry H. Jr. and Anna (Rudiger) Koehn. Fern attended a country school near Lone Tree Mennonite Church rural McPherson. Melois Fern Koehn was united in marriage to Roy Henry Horn on January 18, 1959 at West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together on Roy's parents farm South of McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a daughter and a son, Pamela and Alan. Roy died on December 3, 2007. Fern was a member of the First Baptist Church, McPherson, Kansas. She and Roy were members of the O.U.R. Sunday School Class and later the Y.E.S. Sunday School Class. Fern was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Fern and Roy worked part-time for the Santa Fe Country School South of McPherson as custodians. Fern worked for Heidebrecht Meats as a meat processor, and retired from Dillions Bakery as a Baker. Fern was known for her cooking and baking skills and the family always looked forward to her Sunday dinners with all the family, especially her pies! If Roy had his way that's all he would eat. She also enjoyed all the traveling and trips they took together. Fern and Roy also volunteered in the community for the McPherson County Food Bank for many years. She is survived by her children, Pamela R. Samuels and husband Allan, of McPherson, Kansas and Alan K. Horn and wife Rebecca, of McPherson, Kansas; her five grandchildren, David Samuels, Stephanie Trevett and life partner Chris, Dustin Horn and wife Alli, Mariah Gawanda and husband Michael, and Emma Horn; her four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Ryan, Paisley, and Colter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Robert (Bob) Lewis Shinn, 84, was born on December 31, 1937, in Herington to John Henry Shinn and Oma Marie Attebury.&nbsp; Bob passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 23, 2022, at the Herington Hospital.

Bob went to school in Herington where he obtained his GED. In April of 1957, Bob married Dorothy Baldwin, and to this union was born a son. &nbsp;Bob later joined the United States Army where he faithfully served his country for 21 years. His next venture would be to become a police officer where he served the citizens of Osborne, KS for 10 years and the citizens of Herington for 13 years. At an early age Bob found his faith in his Lord and Savior, being baptized in the Baptist faith. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Herington. Bob had a love of travel sometimes traveling 4-5 hours to visit family for just a couple of hours. He was a member of the Coffee Club, VFW Post 1281 and American Legion. In February of 2013, Bob’s wife Dorothy passed away after 56 years of marriage. Then in August of 2013, Bob married Frances (Fran) Byfield, in Marion, Arkansas. Bob and Fran spent 8 ½ years together, enjoying each other, traveling to different places to visit family, friends and the casinos. &nbsp;Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington Chapel is serving the family.
