Alice Jeanette Hartle, 80, passed away May 20, 2022, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler.&nbsp; She was born May 20, 1942, in Hutchinson, to Alva Leroy and Christina Dora (Wakefield) Johnston.

Alice was a 1960 graduate of St. Teresa High School, Hutchinson, KS, and 1986 graduate of McPherson School of Nursing, McPherson.&nbsp; She became a licensed practical nurse (LPN) because of the inspiration that she received when volunteering as a ‘Candy Striper’ during her teenage years.

Alice enjoyed fishing, quilting, crafts, cooking, scrapbooking, and was skilled in genealogy even before the implementation of electronic genealogy.&nbsp; She was a ‘master gardener’ and had a hand dug pond in her backyard that contained koi fish.&nbsp; Alice was funny, goofy, quirky, and her laughter was contagious.&nbsp; She was a caring person who took pride in doing respite foster care for many children.&nbsp; Alice held many titles in her lifetime, but the most treasured titles were wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.

On August 10, 1985, she married Jack Arlen Hartle, in McPherson.&nbsp; They shared over 36 years of marriage.

Alice is survived by:&nbsp; her husband, Jack Hartle of Buhler; daughters, Julie Kitston and Suzy (Mark) Mattison, both of Hutchinson; stepsons, Alan Hartle of Florida and Jerod Hartle of Hutchinson; adopted son, Christopher (Kara) Hartle of Hutchinson; eleven grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary (Terry) McCoy and Russell (Jolene) Johnston.

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; daughter, Glenna Mitchell; sister, Virginia Rife; and stepson, Gregory Hartle.

Patricia Moore Weese, 80, died May 19, 2022, at her home. She was born May 10, 1942, in Hutchinson, to Bud and Virginia (Barrett) Moore.

Patricia, also known as Pat, worked at Coberly Drugs until her retirement. She loved sewing, painting, Bingo, and was an avid walker. Pat enjoyed socializing at the Delos V. Smith Senior Center and dances at the Moose Lodge. She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ and loved her church family.

Mary Jane Henning, 77, passed away May 18, 2022, at The Cottages at Shawnee, Shawnee.&nbsp; She was born April 27, 1945, in Wichita, to Marvin Francis and Matilda Mary (Farmer) Harter.

Mary Jane married her husband Butch on January 23, 1965, in Wichita.&nbsp; They took up roots in Hutchinson, where they raised their family.&nbsp; Mary Jane was a devout Catholic and was very active in their church and community.&nbsp; She was an accomplished artist.&nbsp; You could always find her painting, felting wool, or sewing.&nbsp; Some annual favorites included handcrafted Christmas ornaments and a hand painted wooden ‘H’ that was handed out to Hutchinson High graduates.&nbsp; She was a skilled cook, loved to bake, garden, and ‘SHOP’.&nbsp; Mary Jane loved her family and was the happiest when she was alongside her husband Butch.&nbsp; They loved watching their boys and grandkids excel at sports.&nbsp; She also loved spending time with her grandkids building fairy houses, looking for heart-shaped rocks, painting ‘dude’ rocks, or just taking in nature.

Mary Jane’s devotion to her faith, family, and friends never left her memory and she could always recall every detail when reminiscing about the past.&nbsp; She had a quirky sense of humor and was generous and genuine.&nbsp; Mary Jane was very proud to be a Harter and had a great love for her mom, dad and siblings.&nbsp; She was always telling stories about her siblings and their families, and loved road tripping to Nebraska to see extended family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mary Jane was proceeded in death by:&nbsp; her father and mother, Marvin and Maddy; and sister, Jeanne Gordon.

Dana James Anderson, 49, passed away May 18, 2022 at Wesley
Medical Center, Wichita.&nbsp; He was born December
18, 1972 in Kingman, the son of David J. and Judy F. (Campbell) Anderson.

Dana graduated from Fairfield High School and graduated in
1991 and later received his welding certificate from Hutchinson Community
College.&nbsp; He was a welder for Superior
Boiler.&nbsp; On September 4, 2005, Dana
married Belinda Youngblood in Pratt.&nbsp;
They shared 16 years of marriage together.

Dana enjoyed fishing, going to the lease to ride go-carts
with his grandchildren, camping and barbecuing and he was an avid KU fan. Dana
was hard working and loved providing for his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Anderson.

Survivors include his mother, Judy Anderson; wife, Belinda
Anderson; one daughter, Kali (Jeremy) Gonzales; one step-daughter, Katie
Simpson; seven siblings, Wayne (Jeannie) Anderson, Rebecca Colbert, William
“Bill” Bailey III, Judi (Scott) Foster, JoeDee Bailey, Janet (Randy) Huitt, and

Donna Sue Willis, 89, died on Monday, May 16, 2022, at her residence in Newton. She was born in Kansas City, on March 16, 1933, the daughter of Louis and Edna Fosha.

On September 27, 1953, Donna was united in marriage to Melvin G. Willis, in Chanute.

Donna was a loving person who cared for, prayed for, and served other people, while leading many Bibles studies, conducting jail ministries, and participating in multiple activities in the church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, and flower arranging, while enjoying their outings in their NuWa Hitchhiker RV.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherida (Mark) Gray, Diana (Herbert) Swender; two sons, David (Debbie) Willis, Rex (Sheryl) Willis, 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, in 2014, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute.

Alberta Mae Grosbach, 88, of Mcpherson, passed away at 8:35 pm, Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 at Cedars Health Care Center. Alberta was born in Quinter, on July 6, 1933, a daughter of Nora Ellen (Bowman) and Samuel Sylvester Ebbert. Alberta attended Quinter grade school and graduated from Quinter High School, Quinter in 1951. She then attended McPherson College and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Home Economics in 1955. She was a member of Enders Church of the Brethren, Enders, Nebraska. and in later years she was a member of Church of the Brethren in McPherson. Alberta enjoyed quilting, making sweet rolls, loved her church family and McPherson College, was very involved in Special Education and loved spending time with her friends and family. Alberta Mae Ebbert was united in marriage to Ronald Eugene Grosbach on Aug. 20, 1954 in Quinter, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. In 1955 they established their home in Enders, Ne.. They farmed together there until 1988, when Ron passed away. The couple was blessed with the birth of 5 sons, Dale, Norman, Lyle, Roy and Gary. Alberta continued to reside in Enders until she retired to McPherson in 2017. She is survived by her children, Dale Grosbach and his wife Deborah, of Gladstone, Missouri, Norman Grosbach and his wife Alice, of Gilbert, Arizona, Lyle Grosbach and his wife Cynthia, of Rochester, Minnesota, Roy Grosbach and his wife Betty Jo, of Evergreen, Colorado and Gary Grosbach, of McCook, Nebraska. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Bryan, Alan, Melanie, Daniel, Jennifer, Adam, Andrew, Matthew, Nora, Olivia and Paula and 4 great grandchildren, Galina, Emma, Hazel and Lily. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Kurtz, Bernard and Charles and her sister Bernadine. Services will be at a later date.

Juanita Faye (Paden) Alpers, age 90, passed away on May 19, 2022 at Kenwood Plaza, St. John.  She was born on July 28, 1931 in Rural Macksville, the daughter of John W. and Linda (Suiter) Paden. 

 Juanita graduated from Hudson High School in 1949 where she was a cheerleader and played in the band.  She attended Hutchinson Junior College and Kansas State University.  She was a homemaker and past secretary of the Stafford County Extension Office, Secretary for the Dean of Women at Texas Western College in El Paso, TX., and secretary for the Hudson Attendance Center.  Her memberships include, Trinity United Church of Christ, later know as Trinity Community Church where she was in charge of the cradle roll for many years and also sang in the church choir, Trinity Women’s Club, I.Q. Club, past member of Hudson Sunshine EHU, Ho-Ne-Pa Cattlewomen and past Master Homemaker winner. 

 On Feb. 10, 1952, she married Marion Alpers on Feb. 10, 1952 at Holyrood, he survives.  Other survivors include a son, Kevin Jon (Barbara) Alpers, Hudson; a daughter, Janell Kay (Reuel) Foote, Hudson; a brother, Jerry (Kaye) Paden, Little River; 5 grandchildren, Joshua (Jenny) Foote, Tyler (Leah) Alpers, Tabra (Shawn) Ward, Derek (Emilee) Foote, Taci (Tyler) Axman; 18 great grandchildren, Elijah Foote, Kaden Foote, Traetyn Foote, Kynnidy Foote, Brittney Schrag, Baylee Schrag, Brayden Schrag, Braxton Alpers, Easton Alpers, Brecken Alpers, Ryer Ward, Bowen Ward, Kalla Foote, Kolson Foote, Kyson Foote, Liddy Axman, Maris Axman, Graham Axman. 

A public visitation/viewing will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M., at the Minnis Chapel, St. John, with family present from 1:30 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.  Memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Trinity Community Church, Hudson, with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. David A. Benson passed away May 18th, 2022 at the age of 77. He was born December 19, 1944 to George A. Benson and Mildred E. (Cunday) Benson in Hutchinson. On August 16th, 2008, he married Barbara A. (Harrison) Randolph at their home in rural Sterling. 

He worked at Krause Corp. for a total of 38 years, and was the “Manager of Manufacturing Services” which included Tool Design, Tool &amp; Die Shop, and Plant Engineering. Dave attended Hutchinson Community College and Pittsburg State. He served in the Kansas Air National Guard from 1966-1972 and retired as a Staff Sargent. Dave had many hobbies, some of which were: golf, archery hunting for deer and turkey, shooting, and his woodworking shop. After retiring from Krause at the end of 2009, he spent the next two years working with a group of volunteers creating what is now the “Studio 96/ Community Center” in Sterling. After completing that project late 2011, a small group started a 600 sq. ft. storage area in the west end of Studio 96 in late 2013. Dave was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the NRA, the “Pope and Young” archery organization, served on the board of the Sterling Country Club, and served on the board of the Studio 96. He attended Mitchell Methodist Church as a young man and Sterling First United Methodist after marriage to Barbara. 

Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara, a son, Darin A. Benson of Gardner; daughter, Kari L. (Benson) Aguirre and husband Joshua of Topeka; one granddaughter, Natasha Smith of El Salvador; also, stepson, Scott Randolph, wife Kristin, their children, Harrison, Addisyn, Jolie, and Quentin, stepdaughter Debra Randolph-Zwick and husband, Andy Zwick. Dave’s siblings are: Gary J. Benson, Wichita. Connie S. (Benson) Guthrie (deceased); Cheri L. (Benson) Jones (deceased) Hutchinson; and Marcia L. (Benson) Stowell, Olathe.

Martha was born on October 3, 1920, in Gypsum, and passed away peacefully in beautiful, sunny Mesa, AZ at the age of 101 ½ on April 14, 2022.&nbsp; Martha married Glenn Henry Fransham on October 3, 1942, at the family farm in Gypsum.&nbsp; Martha was a homemaker, co-builder alongside her husband Glenn, with the construction of their home in North Wichita (having never obtained a loan of any type), gardener (fondly remembered for her delicious raspberry jelly), seamstress, etc. When she went to work outside of the home she worked for J.M.McDonalds, J.C.Penney's, various housekeeping jobs and Valley Center Elementary School kitchen staff, until the age of 90.&nbsp; She was an active member of the Valley Center First United Methodist Church for over 65 years. Martha and Glenn were married for 48 years, and she lived in the home that they built together for 67 years.

Toni L. Howell, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Hospice
House, Hutchinson.

Toni was born March 13, 1939, in Newton, the daughter of Clifford R. and Edith
D. (Anduss) Thomas.&nbsp; On August 20, 1956, she married Benjamin F. Howell in
Wichita, to this union they were blessed with four children, Chris, Jeff, David
and John.&nbsp; 

Toni was an avid reader, reading several books
weekly.She loved to garden, shop at
Walmart and record and watch soap operas.Her favorite days were when it rained.And rightly so, a thunderstorm occurred the morning of her passing.Her favorite thing, however, was spending
time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Toni was a homemaker most of her life, but
also worked as a teacher’s aide for USD 311 and retired from USD 308 where she
a drove school bus.Toni was a member of
the Westside Baptist Church and Elmdale senior Center. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Arnette Peterman and two
brothers, Richard and Ron Thomas. 
Toni is survived by her husband, Benjamin; four children, Chris (Van Stewart)
Powell, Jeff Howell, David (Gidget Paris) Howell, and John (Michelle) Howell;

Nancy Hutton Hodges, 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born on August 16, 1933 in Lawrence, Kansas to Josephine Jacqmain and Paul Hutton.&nbsp; Her early years were spent on her grandfather Octave Jacqmain’s farm outside Fort Smith, Arkansas with her younger sister Jane.

Nancy graduated from Lawrence High School and the University of Kansas, where she competed in several varsity sports, winning the Hill Badminton Championship four straight years. She married Merle Alvadore Hodges in 1954 and they spent their early married life in Mobile, Alabama during his time in the USAF.

A Salina resident since 1966, Nancy was an active community volunteer, serving on many different boards and commissions.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was one of the founding members of Salina’s first daycare center, now the Salina Child Care Association; led the Saline County Humane Association and advocated for Salina’s first animal control ordinance; was an active member of the Saline County Democrats; and was appointed by former President Jimmy Carter to lead the state’s White House Conference on Families Year of the Child initiative.&nbsp; She was also a Sunday School teacher and Vestry member at Christ Cathedral; a competitive tennis player and USTA coach; a 2011 Women of Achievement honoree; a USD305 substitute teacher; and a longtime co-host of KSAL’s Friendly Fire.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Merle A. Hodges; sister Jane Hutton Stievater and brother-in-law Robert; and daughter Dr. Melissa Ann Hodges.&nbsp; She is survived by her son Dr. Boo Hodges (Melissa Rose); granddaughter Elizabeth (Nicole) grandsons Matthew; Ted (Taylor); and Grant (Jillian); great-grandchildren Gage, Kai, Laiklyn, Eleanor and James; and her beloved pets.

Our blessed Lord took Kathaleen home on May 12, 2022, at the age of 93.&nbsp; She was born Kathaleen Louise Steinmetz on February 6, 1929, in Hutchinson.

Kathaleen married Donald W. Dean, in 1949.&nbsp; They lived many good memories in their 25 years together.&nbsp; He survives. &nbsp;Kathaleen lived in Hutchinson 53 years, until she met Wayne Waddle of Cottonwood, AZ.&nbsp; She and Wayne shared the families they brought together and a love of motorhome travel.&nbsp; Kathaleen and Wayne were married for 26 years before his passing.

She was raised a Christian, and was a member of Verde Baptist Church, Cottonwood, AZ.&nbsp; Kathaleen loved the Lord and shared a sweet relationship with Him.&nbsp; Some of her favorite activities were gardening, tole painting, and cooking delicious meals.&nbsp; What Kathaleen enjoyed most was her family and gathering with them.&nbsp;

She is survived by: sons, Rodney (Genny) Dean, Terry (Rayne) Dean; daughter, Rhonda Harvey; brother, Bill Steinmetz; sister, Haroldene Ivey; stepchildren, Kevin (Laura) Waddle, Kimberly (Steve) Penniman, Kristen Waddle, and Kirk (Carrie) Waddle; her precious grandkids, Daphne Smith, Jeremy (Beth) Dean, Jennifer (Trevor) Sandell, Daira Harvey, Roxanne (Ryan) Alexander, Rachelle Strawn, and Tracey Dean; five step grandkids; 27 great-grandkids; and one great-great-grandson.

Kathaleen was a very strong woman, who lived through dementia in her latter years as a kind and loving person. She will be remembered in our lives, and forever in our hearts.&nbsp;

John Howard Downing, Jr., 67, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, surrounded by family at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.&nbsp; He retired from Coleman Moving &amp; Storage in Salina, Kansas.

John was born on December 17, 1954, in Steelville, Missouri, the son of John Howard Downing, Sr. and Alice Evelyn (Dixon) Downing.&nbsp; He attended Havre de Grace High School in Havre de Grace, Maryland. On July 17, 1982, John was united in marriage to Jean Lou Sporleder in Salina.

Survivors include: his wife of 39 years, Jean Downing; a son, John Downing, III (Mindy) of McPherson; a daughter, Joy Gravitt (Scott) of Gypsum; two sisters, Barbara Moore (Doug) of Slocomb, AL; and Terry Pope of Salina; five grandchildren, River Downing, Maleia Smith, Eli Downing, Mara Bellesine, and Karsen Downing; several nieces &amp; nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Downing.

John H. Moore, 69, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at his home in McPherson.&nbsp; John retired from NCRA Refinery, where he worked in the Alkylation Unit.&nbsp;

John was born on December 20, 1952, the son of Lester Elmer and Wilma Fern (Lewis) Moore.&nbsp; He graduated from Pawnee Rock High School in 1970 and attended Barton County Community College.&nbsp; On December 17, 1983, John was united in marriage to Priscilla Stegman in Lindsborg.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Priscilla; two sons, Sean Moore (Whitney) of McPherson, and Will Moore (Jillian) of Manhattan; four grandchildren, Cason Moore, Kinlee Moore, Elizabeth Moore, and Abigail Moore; three sisters, Vera Schmidt (Sandy) of Larned, Linda Brack (Brian) of Otis, and Wilda Daubert of Wichita; two brothers, Jim Moore (Jayne) Burnett, TX and Chuck Moore (Janice) of Otis; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Shirla Kirmer, Donna Schlegal, Carol DeVault, Leonard Moore, and Clark Moore.

Deborah Anne "Deb" Clevenger, 64, of McPherson, passed away at 2pm, Tuesday, May 17th, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson, McPherson County. Deb was born in Canandaigua, New York on May 2, 1958, a daughter of the late Shirley Hazel (Straight) and John Baldwin Wells. Deb attended the Canandaigua schools and graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1976, Canandaigua, New York. Deborah Anne Wells was united in marriage to Scott Andrew Clevenger on June 18, 1981 in Newark, New York. The young couple established their first home together in Newark, New York. This couple were blessed with four children, three sons and one daughter, Andrew, Andrea, Tim, and Travis. Deb was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She was the owner and operator of Debbie's Cleaning service for over 20 years in New York. In September of 2013 the family moved to McPherson and in 2014 she began working for U.S.D. 418 School District within the food service division. Deb was a member of T.A.P.S. Deb enjoyed spoiling her grandkids, cleaning, pedicures, Red Lobster, a connoisseur of Soft Ice Cream, and loved her Buffalo Bills Football team. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of over 40 years, Scott Clevenger, of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Travis Clevenger and wife Melissa, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Andrew Clevenger and wife Ashley, of Fayetteville, New York; Andrea Cole and significant other Randall Milleson, of McPherson; her daughter-in-law, Megan Clevenger, of Cohoes, New York; her brother Robert Wells and wife Roseanne, of Pittsford, New York; and sister Carol Quagliata and husband David, of Newark, New York; her 11 grandchildren, Taylor, Kaleb, Colton, Griffin, Theo, Nicholas, Brody, Tyler, Lucas, Brooke and Dylan; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Barbara Lee Mason, 94, died May 18, 2022, in Kingman.

She was born Dec. 26, 1927, at Cleveland, the daughter of Otto and Hetty Dir Kelly.&nbsp; A lifetime resident of the Kingman community, she was a retired telephone operator and telephone office employee.

Barbara was a member of the United Methodist Church, Kingman; and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

On March 1, 1953, she married Richard “Dick” Mason at Dexter; he died Aug. 19, 2009.&nbsp; Survivors include four children and their spouses Tom and Linda Mason, Ron and Treena Mason, Elise and Bill Klaver, and Kelly and Barb Mason; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by her brother Rev. Rex Kelly.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.&nbsp; The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Adam graduated from Hutchinson High School in 2000, and later from Hutchinson Community College. He was a welder for Excel Corporation in Hesston. Adam’s favorite hobby and past time was riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. On June 14, 2014, Adam married Meagan Archer, in Hutchinson.

Dan’s life began on April 21, 1946, in Topeka. He was the son of Harvey John and Rose Irene (Morgan) Falen. 

Dan was a 1964 graduate of Hope High School, attended Kansas University and graduated from Kansas State University with an agricultural economics degree. He was a farm kid from the beginning and was a lifelong farmer and rancher in rural Hope until his death. 

Dan was united in marriage to the former Marcia Bezdek on April 24, 1971, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Dan was an avid reader and genealogist. He and Marcia archived hundreds of articles regarding friends, relatives, and community members. They often shared their archives with friends and family. Dan enjoyed photography and cheering for the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs when they played well. 

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marcia Falen of Hope; sister Jean (Von) Ervin of Laquey, MO.; nephew John West of Hope, nephew Greg (Pam) Holub of Lost Springs, great nephew Gentri Holub of Lost Springs and Jerami Slayden and sister in law Paulette Holub. 

Dan passed away on Tuesday May 17, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents, aunt Dr. Frances Falen and uncle Harry Falen. 

Dan’s family will gather with friends on Sunday May 22, 2022, at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington from 2-4 p.m. with a rosary at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday May 23, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, Elmo. Paul Dean Reimer, 70, of Hesston, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at his home.&nbsp; He was born August 1, 1951 in Dinuba, California, the son of Earl L. and Ruth E. (Doerksen) Reimer.

Paul graduated from Reedly High School with the class of 1969.&nbsp; He later graduated from Bethel College in Newton, with a bachelor's degree in History.

He was united in marriage to Sharon K. Charles on April 14, 1979 in Nappanee, Indiana.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

He was a lifelong member of the First Mennonite Church of Reedly, California.&nbsp; Paul was the caretaker of the church property for 20 years.

Paul is survived by his wife, Sharon of Hesston; sons, Johann (Laura) Reimer of Hesston, and Dietrich Reimer of San Diego, CA; step-daughter, Mistye (Michael) Ruffin of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Carol Williams of Kingsburg, CA; two grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.

On October 17, 1954, Bill married Virginia Magby in Hutchinson.&nbsp; She died September 22, 2014.&nbsp; Bill graduated from Burrton High School and
attended Vo-Tech where he received a certificate in automotive mechanics. &nbsp;On July 27, 1954, Bill joined the United
States Army.&nbsp; He served in the Vietnam
War and received several medals and badges.&nbsp;
He was honorably discharged on October 31, 1974.&nbsp; He was a member Eastwood Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; a
daughter, Patty Jury; siblings, Jim Myers and Janet Benney.

Survivors include his children, William D. (Marjorie) Myers
Jr., Kenneth Myers, Nancy Davenport and Susan (Jim Hubbard) Johnson; a brother,
Richard (Margaret) Myers; son –in- law, David Jury; 18 grandchildren; 37 great
grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.

the Buerge Elevator in Passaic, MO, Tiona Truck Line in Butler, MO and Winters
Trucking in Bates City, MO. &nbsp;He started
as a Corrections Officer at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility in June of
1976. &nbsp;He retired from corrections as a
Lieutenant in June of 1999, completing 23 years of service with the Hutchinson
Correctional Facility. &nbsp;He was also a
member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club for many years. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Snow Eddie Sterns
and Alyce Maxine Sterns, along with an older brother, Jonny. 

He is survived by his son, Eddie Sterns (Tina) of Adrian, MO;
his brother, Jim Sterns (Kathy) of Bolivar, MO, and his sister Judith Sterns of
Lee’s Summit, MO; four granddaughters, Ashley Sterns of Salina, KS, Jordan

Robert Keith “Bob” Kurz, 82, died May 16, 2022, at the Kansas Masonic Home, Wichita.&nbsp; He was born January 10, 1940, in Syracuse, to Roy Robert and Ellen Mae (Wright) Kurz.

Bob graduated from Kendall High School in 1958, and from Salt City Business College in 1960.&nbsp; On October 22nd of that same year, he married Judith Kay “Judy” Elser of Hutchinson. Bob served in the United States Army from January 1962 to October 1964, including Basic Training at Fort Carson, Colorado, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Ord, California.&nbsp; Bob was assigned to the 172nd&nbsp;Infantry Brigade in Anchorage, Alaska where he served as a personnel specialist.&nbsp; During that time, Bob deployed to northern Alaska—in response to President Kennedy’s assassination--where he and his unit carried out security missions for over 30 days in temperatures reaching as low as negative 60 degrees Fahrenheit.&nbsp; Shortly after, Bob and Judy survived Alaska’s 1964 earthquake before returning home to Kansas.

Bob spent the majority of his career supporting and developing the Kurz family farm.&nbsp; Among many skills, he was well known for his ability to build and repair implements, weld a good bead, plow straight rows, and for helping anyone who dropped by the farm with something needing fixed. &nbsp;As with most western Kansas farmers, he was passionate about growing wheat, and diligently succeeded in growing an organic version that achieved the high standards necessary for selling directly to regional mills.&nbsp; Bob was engaged in his farming community in many other capacities, and most often with a great smile, warm heart, easy laugh, and time to visit.

Bob also enjoyed hunting, and hosted an annual hunting event on the first weekend of pheasant season for over ten years.&nbsp; This was one of his favorite times of the year, as he invited local relatives, friends and others who travelled from as far as New Mexico to join in the fun.

Bob belonged to the Kendall United Methodist Church, and was also a proud member of the Masons for over 50 years.&nbsp; He participated fully in the York Rite, holding offices in Blue Lodge, Royal Arch, and Commandery, and attained the distinguished position of Grand High Priest of Kansas Royal Arch Masons.&nbsp; Bob was also a 32nd&nbsp;degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, a Shriner, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bob was a strong believer in family, beginning with his best friend and wife, Judy, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage before her death on August 28, 2021. Together they raised their two children, Toni and Rob, and later became proud grandparents of five grandsons, five granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Bob’s favorite family pastimes included camping and boating, wherein he taught Toni and Rob how to waterski – a sport the family continued to enjoy for many years. &nbsp;In 2012, Bob and Judy relocated to Hutchinson, where they joined the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church and participated regularly in its fund-raising activities.&nbsp; In late 2019, they moved to the Kansas Masonic Home in Wichita.&nbsp;

Bob is survived by:&nbsp; daughter, Toni Clinton (Kevin) of Aurora, CO; son, Robert W. Kurz (Emily) of Lansing; grandchildren, Kenneth Clinton, Katie Clinton, Maggie Clinton, Jonathan Clinton, Ashtin Ruddell (Branson), Abby Price (Jonathan), Benjamin Kurz, Harrison Kurz, Nicholas Kurz, and Sophie Kurz; great-grandchildren, Rhys Clinton, Blake Clinton, Elliott Ruddell, and great-granddaughter Ruddell, to arrive in July; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 9:00 a.m. MST (10:00 a.m. CST) Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Kendall United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Interment will follow in the Lakin Cemetery, with Masonic Honors presented by Emerald Lodge #289. Military honors will also be &nbsp;presented by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Following the service, everyone is invited to join the family for a luncheon at the Lakin United Methodist Church.

Robert Keith “Bob” Kurz, 82, died May 16, 2022, at the Kansas Masonic Home, Wichita.&nbsp; He was born January 10, 1940, in Syracuse, to Roy Robert and Ellen Mae (Wright) Kurz.Bob graduated from Kendall High School in 1958, and from Salt City Business College in 1960.&nbsp; On October 22nd of that same year, he married Judith Kay “Judy” Elser of Hutchinson. Avis Jo Mardis "Big A", 90, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at her home. She was born on October 3, 1931 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Myrle and Josephine (Groves) Sipe. Avis married Richard L, Mardis on October 6, 1949 in Pratt. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2007. Avis graduated from Pratt High School in 1949. She worked in the meat department at Dillon's for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pratt Pilot Club, Green Valley Ladies Golf Association, Sarah Guild, United Methodist Women, 66 year member of Beta Sigma Phi, Ladies Auxiliary of United Transportation Union and many bridge groups. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, bowling, softball and watching every sport. She was an avid Pratt Greenback, Beaver and 86ers fan. Benito “Benny” A. Garcia, 68, died on Friday, May 13, 2022, in Newton.

He was born January 12, 1954, in Marion, the son of George and Angela (Martinez) Garcia. He attended Florence High School and graduated from Newton High School in the class of 1972.

Benito was employed by Highland Dairy, originally Stephen’s Dairy, for 30 + years. He held many job titles and had experience working in every department. He took great pride no matter what position he held and always looked forward to ramping up production at the beginning of the school year.

Benito enjoyed watching K-State and Chicago Bears games. He also loved attending all the sport and musical events that he could when family was involved. He was able to enjoy the open road and seeing more of the country in his later years.

A kindhearted and caring person, Benito was far more than a father, son, uncle, and brother – he was the patriarchal glue that held the family together. He was the first to drop what he was doing if anyone he knew was in need of help. Whether it was moving to a new place or a new set of brake pads on their car.

Benito was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Benito is survived by his sons, Victor (Keena) Garcia, Ricardo Garcia and Benjamin (Bryanna) Garcia; daughters, Victoria (Daniel King) Garcia, Jacinta Garcia, and Guadalupe (Ezequial) Sosme; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, George Garcia, Daniel (Stacie) Garcia, and Greg (Tami) Garcia; sisters, Josephine Garcia, Angelia Garcia, and Mary (Don) Bean; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
