Terry Lamont McGillivray, 63, of Burrton, died February 24, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born February 2, 1959, in Ulysses, to Chester “Mont” and Kathleen (Komma) McGillivray.

Terry graduated from Buhler High School in 1977. He served in the United States Navy from April 1977 to April 1983. Terry was an operations supervisor at Forest Products Supply in Newton. He previously worked at Collins Ambulance/ Wheelcoach Corporation as a production manager. Terry was an outdoorsman through and through. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, boating, any thing outside. Terry also belonged to Duck’s Unlimited. His cabin at Kanopolis Lake was his second home and where he loved to be more than anything.

On August 16, 1991, he was married to Rose Collins, who was his soulmate and love of his life.

Terry is survived by: parents, Mont and Kathleen McGillivray, South Hutchinson; daughter, Tonia Faccone (Mike), Burien, WA; son, Travis McGillivray (Emily), Harvest, AL; stepsons, Bret Collins, Lawrence, Travis Collins, Olathe; grandchildren, Christina and Haley Faccone; Joshua and Anthony McGillivray, Everett and Coraline McGillivray; sister, Pat Augustine (Barry), Hutchinson; brother, Guy “Gil” McGillivray (Kathy), Hutchinson; sister, Leslie Wilds, Yukon, OK; sister, Crystal Hill (Brad), Palmer Lake, CO; brother, Kyle McGillivray (Heather), Cave Creek, AZ; lifelong friend, Greg White, Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joshua McGillivray.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary. Family will greet friends for an hour following the service. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, at Elliott Mortuary. Lizzie Schrock, 94, of Hutchinson, Kansas, died February 26, 2022. She was born September 9, 1927, in Hutchinson, to William A. and Rebecca (Nisly) Miller.&nbsp;

Lizzie was a mother and grandmother, a gardener and quilter, and dedicated to her faith in God and her church. During a summer of voluntary service with Mennonite Central Committee in Gulfport, MS she met Henry Schrock of Medford, Wisconsin. They were married June 8, 1952.They raised their children, first in rural Reno County, Kansas and then in Eden Valley, Minnesota. After retirement, Lizzie and Henry returned to Hutchinson. They were married for almost 67 years. Lizzie was a member of Center Amish Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.

Lizzie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, her parents; brothers Daniel and Levi Miller, and sisters Mary Yoder, Emma Miller, and Edna Nisly.&nbsp;

Surviving are children: Althea Salomone and husband Raymond of Mentor, OH, Virginia Schrock and husband Chris Moffatt of Richmond, VA, Mildred Sheppard and husband Jonathan of Monroe, WA, Wesley Schrock and wife Jean Ann of Arlington, KS; and grandchildren, Joseph, John, and Maria Salomone, and Joel, Peter, and Daniel Sheppard; and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth High and Anna Schrock.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 10:00 am at Center Amish Mennonite Church, 7611 W. Tammie Jo Suffield, 62, passed from this life on February 27, 2022. She was born to Fred Harvey and Colleen B (Regier) Yoder August 11, 1959 in Newton. 

Tammie was united in marriage to Edwin “Butch” Suffield June 14, 2008. Tammie was a lover of all animals. She and Butch enjoyed life together on their Peabody farm raising cows, chickens, horses, guineas, and an occasional goose. She had a special love for her dogs and cats that were her special family. She worked as a CNA at Peabody Health and Rehab for many years, her greatest joy was seeing the residents daily enjoying the best life they could. 

Tammie leaves to mourn her passing, husband, Butch Suffield, son DuWayne Suffield and wife Jodi, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister, Teresa Maples, sisters in-law, Wilma Hypsha, Juanita Birkle, Linda Olsen (Harold), Koni Yoder, brother-in-law Roger Hett. Many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and nieces and a host of friends and neighbors. Tammie was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Colleen Yoder and brother Glenn Yoder. 

Services will be March 12, 2022 at Peabody United Methodist Church at 11 am.&nbsp;

Miles E. Hoffman, 65, of McPherson, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born June 30, 1956 in Webb City, Missouri, the son of Rodney and Norma (Ritchie) Hoffman.

He grew up in Moundridge and attended McPherson High School.

Miles loved to travel around and rode his bicycle all over the United States.

He is survived by his brothers, Doyle “Tom” (Brenda) Hoffman of McPherson, Randy (Lori) Hoffman of McPherson, Tony Hoffman of Moundridge, Bill Bruce of Wichita, and Tom Bruce of Wichita.

Miles was preceded in death by his parents; and stillborn daughter, Catherine Hoffman.

Norman Richard McVey, 77, of Byers, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 27, 1944, in Liberal, to John Hobart and Florence Maurine McVey.

Norman graduated from Kismet High School where he played basketball and worked on the family farm. After graduating high school, he attended Hays University. After his time studying at Hays, he enlisted in the Army, where he proudly served 4 years in Vietnam. After returning state side Norman married the love of his life Bonnie Lock on August 15, 1970 and raised 2 children. 

He worked as a farmer and cattleman while growing his family. Norman also spent many years driving a Maintainer for several different counties. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberal, KS. Norman had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was always willing to help his neighbors and anyone in need.

Norman is survived by his loving wife Bonnie McVey, Son, Richard (Sue) McVey of Greensburg; Daughter, Rachelle (Joey) Sharp Stanford, MT; one brother, Bob (Janice) McVey of Kismet; 2 sisters, Joyce Buck of Perryton, TX; Carolyn (Ace) Overton of Amarillo, TX. Grandchildren, Renee McVey, Cody (Vickie) McVey, Brett (Halie) McVey, Alexandra (Jacob) Vap, Vaughan Keimig, Whitley Keimig. Great grandchildren, Axel, Ruth, Emersyn, Adalynn. Along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence McVey; sister, Sharron Massoni and daughter, Marie Renee McVey. Clifford “Cliff” Loren Gaiser, 81 passed away on Friday, February 25th, 2022 at NMC Health in Newton. He was born February 23rd, 1941 in Newton, to Katherin and Vernon Gaiser. Cliff met Patsy White at the First Christian Church in 1956, where they later married in front of family and friends on August 5th, 1961.

Cliff was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and community member. He will be missed by all those that knew him. As a family we often laughed that half of Newton knew him. You couldn’t go anywhere with him without stopping to talk to several people.

He was an active member of the First Christian Church and recently was given a title of Elder Emeritus, a title he was honored to receive. He loved getting together with his friends for a cup of coffee and going on fishing trips. Yardwork, gardening, and woodworking were some of his favorite hobbies. Many of his woodworking pieces were sentimental gifts given to friends and family. He even entered some woodworking pieces into The Harvey County Fair. He was always talking about his sons and grandkids. He always rooted for KU in sports but sometimes supported K-State to represent some of his grandkids that graduated from there.

He attended automotive school and then worked at Firestone for 12 years. After Firestone he opened his own business, CG Tire, which started out of his pickup truck. In the 80’s he expanded by opening up a shop in Newton and his son, Brian, joined the family business, thus becoming CG &amp; Son Tire. Cliff retired from CG &amp; Son Tire in 2013. He was actively on the Harvey County Sheriff’s reserves for 30 years.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents Katherin and Vernon Gaiser. He is survived by his wife Patsy of the home; sons Brian Gaiser of Wichita and Scott Gaiser of Newton; siblings Merle (and Pearl) Gaiser of Illinois and Carol (and Larry) Hague of Newton. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Krysta (and Nathan) Goetzinger of Andover, Kayley Gaiser of Lawrence, Melissa Gaiser of Newton, and Rebecca Gaiser of Wichita.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at First Christian Church in Newton, with The Reverend Gary Bell presiding. The burial site will be family only at the Restlawn Gardens of Memory cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, March 4th with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.

Paul “Douglas” McCullers, 87, of Sterling, passed away February 23, 2022, at his home. He was born December 17, 1934, in Ocala, Florida, the son of Paul and Amy Hall McCullers. 

Douglas has resided in Sterling since 1988, formerly of Marion, Alabama. He graduated from DeFuniak Springs High School in DeFuniak Springs, Florida with the class of 1952, and later attended Auburn University and the University of Florida where he received his master’s degree in education. Douglas was a mathematics professor, retiring from Sterling College in 2001. He enjoyed pheasant and quail hunting, gardening, and carpentry. Douglas served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1955. 

On December 6, 1963, Douglas was united in marriage with Omega Davis in New Harmony, Florida. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Judd McCullers and wife Heidi of Sterling; daughter, Teresa Green of Chickasha, Oklahoma; sister, Genevieve Leach and husband Dan of Greensboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Sam McCullers, Carolynn Moore and husband Chris, Serena Green, and Logan Green; five great-grandchildren, Jude, Adrian, Catherine, Cainan, and Ivy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kathleen Garrison. 

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Alden Baptist Church, Alden, with Pastor Matt Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling.&nbsp;

Paul “Douglas” McCullers  |1934-2022| 

Marie Estelle Twitchell, 95, of McPherson, passed away at 8:56 a.m., Sunday, February 27th, at Cedars House. Marie was born in Washington, DC on March 24, 1926, a daughter of Air Force Colonel Francis Bernard and Margaret Elizabeth (Rieve) O'Donnell. Marie attended Linthicum Heights Elementary School, MD. She then attended and graduated from the institute of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD. She also attended the Bard Avon School at Baltimore; She also studied at the San Antonio College and St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas; and later graduated from the McConnell Airline Stewardess School, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, KS 67460. She was a former member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA; and Santa Rosa Catholic Church, Georgetown, TX. She was baptized on April 25, 1926, at St Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Baltimore, MD by Monsignor John J. Murray. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Woodlawn Plantation Alexandria, VA., for 14 years. She worked for the U.S. Government for several years in Colorado and Texas. Her favorite job was in the Public Information office at 4th Army Headquarters in the Quadrangle at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. when General Jonathan M. Wainwright was the Commanding General. She worked for two years as the Administrative Assistant to the state manager of the Texas Company before her marriage on May 2, 1953. Marie Estelle O'Donnell was united in marriage to Alvin Twitchell at the Catholic Chapel in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, on May 2, 1953. Alvin died on January 13, 2013. As the wife of career Air Force Officer Colonel Alvin Twitchell, she accompanied him on military assignments to Europe and throughout the United States. They settled in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972. In 1974 Marie went to work in Mount Vernon, Virginia at Woodlawn Plantation, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She and her husband Al both retired in 1989 and began their world travels. In 1996 they moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas where they enjoyed 13 years of warm weather, playing golf and playing duplicate bridge. In 2009 they moved to the Cedars in McPherson, Kansas to be near their daughter Patricia and husband Gary Goad. She is survived by her children, Patricia T. Goad and husband Gary, of McPherson, Kansas and Douglas J. Twitchell, of Portland, Oregon; her brother, Francis B. O'Donnell and wife Sally, of Derby; her three grandchildren, Courtney Wilkey and husband Tanner, of Sterling; Brian Goad and wife Kara Janae, of Cimarron; and Zach Twitchell, of Portland, Oregon; her five great-grandchildren, Brynley Janae Goad, of Cimarron, Kopper Leland Goad, of Cimarron, Annie Marie Wilkey, of Sterling,&nbsp; Kason Goad, of Cimarron, and Hank Wilkey of Sterling; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Alvin Twitchell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 3rd 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating. Marie Estelle Twitchell, 95, of McPherson, passed away at 8:56 a.m., Sunday, February 27th, at Cedars House. Marie was born in Washington, DC on March 24, 1926, a daughter of Air Force Colonel Francis Bernard and Margaret Elizabeth (Rieve) O'Donnell. Marie attended Linthicum Heights Elementary School, MD. She then attended and graduated from the institute of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD. She also attended the Bard Avon School at Baltimore; She also studied at the San Antonio College and St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas; and later graduated from the McConnell Airline Stewardess School, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, KS 67460. She was a former member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA; and Santa Rosa Catholic Church, Georgetown, TX. She was baptized on April 25, 1926, at St Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Baltimore, MD by Monsignor John J. Murray. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Woodlawn Plantation Alexandria, VA., for 14 years. She worked for the U.S. Government for several years in Colorado and Texas. Her favorite job was in the Public Information office at 4th Army Headquarters in the Quadrangle at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. when General Jonathan M. Wainwright was the Commanding General. She worked for two years as the Administrative Assistant to the state manager of the Texas Company before her marriage on May 2, 1953. Marie Estelle O'Donnell was united in marriage to Alvin Twitchell at the Catholic Chapel in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, on May 2, 1953. Alvin died on January 13, 2013. As the wife of career Air Force Officer Colonel Alvin Twitchell, she accompanied him on military assignments to Europe and throughout the United States. They settled in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972. In 1974 Marie went to work in Mount Vernon, Virginia at Woodlawn Plantation, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She and her husband Al both retired in 1989 and began their world travels. In 1996 they moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas where they enjoyed 13 years of warm weather, playing golf and playing duplicate bridge. In 2009 they moved to the Cedars in McPherson, Kansas to be near their daughter Patricia and husband Gary Goad. Terry’s life began on December 11, 1947, in Newbern, TN. He was the son of James Earl and Elizabeth (Featherston) Hilliard. Terry was a graduate of Newbern High School and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin. He joined the United States Air Force after leaving college and served his country as Sargent in the Air Force. Terry was united in marriage to the love of his life Peggy Allen on February 14, 1971, at the Herington United Methodist Church. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad. &nbsp; He also worked at Catlins IGA as their butcher. Terry spent most of his working life employed by Greeley Gas Co., as a Senior Corrosion Technician the forerunner to Atmos Energy from which he retired. &nbsp;Family was always first to Terry and had no greater joy. He enjoyed his morning walks, keeping his lawn, cars and house in good order. &nbsp;He helped deliver Meals on Wheels and was a member of The Civic Club.

Terry also loved music and had a wide and varied playlist. He is survived by his wife Peggy of Herington, sons Jamie (Angela) Hilliard of Topeka and Jeff (Shandi) Hilliard of Holton; grandchildren Jake Hilliard, Macey Treinen, Avery Hilliard, Cameron Treinen, Logan Treinen, Toby Leavendusky, Lauren Leavendusky, Shaye Leavendusky, Ty Hilliard, and Carlin Hilliard; and his sister Pam (Rick) Camp of Jackson, TN. Terry passed away on Friday February 25, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents. His family will gather with friends on Saturday March 5, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Herington for his memorial service led by Pastor Bryan Polin. Margaret Ellen Hale, 79, died February 26, 2022, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born November 8, 1942, in Hutchinson, to Jay and Betty (Ellis) Reed.

Margaret graduated from Nickerson High School in 1960, attended Hutchinson Community College, and graduated from Sydney’s Beauty College. She owned her own beauty shop, “Hair by Margaret”, for many years. Margaret’s greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and her pets.

In February 1967, Margaret married Palmer Welch in Oklahoma. They later divorced. On October 1, 1976, she married Roy Hale Jr., in Hutchinson. He died October 29, 2014.

Margaret is survived by: her children, Colleen Thode (Troy) of Partridge, Blake Welch (Lori Christensen), Brannon Welch (Tanya), Kelly Hale (Shannon), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Josh Dreiling (Christen), Jake Dreiling (Candice), Alisha Dreiling, Amber Dreiling, Keegan Hale, Brookelyn Hale, Devon Welch, Alexia Welch, Trevor Thrash; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Jones (Charles) of Greenwood, MO; Jaylene Reed of Kingman; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shellie Hughes; and grandsons, Travis Dreiling and Travis Thrash.

John E. Gray, 78, died February 26, 2022 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center at Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita after a brief illness.&nbsp; He was born December 3, 1943 in Eureka, to J. Evert and Velva (Todd) Gray.

John grew up in Newton, with his parents and older sisters, Sharon and Pat.&nbsp; He clearly recalled his childhood memories into late adulthood and enjoyed speaking about these good times.&nbsp; John laughed about how much attention and care his father gave to his bird dogs that he used for hunting, but how they were never allowed in the house, something his mother would have never allowed anyway.&nbsp; John also talked fondly of memories playing with his cousins, Gary, Mel, and Ron, at least one or more of whom apparently talked John into riding a bull at one point.

John lived with his father and mother until his father passed when John was a young adult.&nbsp; He continued to live with his mother who often assigned him tasks, such as doing the dishes, getting the mail, and walking around the block with her.&nbsp; John could be heard saying, “I am going, I am going” when his mother became impatient with him not performing duties on her timeline.&nbsp; Despite this, often at times hilarious, banter, John never said a harsh word.

After John’s mother’s passing, John moved in and lived with his sister, Sharon, and brother-in-law, Tom for many years.&nbsp; There, he was surrounded in the den with every VHS tape and DVD that could be acquired, either by purchasing it or bootleg copying it if necessary.&nbsp; John loved movies and he could tell you if any of them were out of place or missing, although he was happy to loan them to anyone.&nbsp; It is here that his sisters introduced him to the lottery, something he joked would have horrified their mother.&nbsp; John loved receiving lottery tickets from his sister, Pat, in PA. and had his sister, Sharon, purchasing them for him on a weekly basis.&nbsp; It was also from this home, he was drug to every great niece and nephew’s program possible, something he always insisted he enjoyed.&nbsp; Probably more than anything, John loved family gatherings.&nbsp; He talked for weeks in advance about when his niece, Amy, and her family were coming out for a visit and most everything positive anyone ever did or that ever occurred, he attributed to his nephew-in-law, Bob.&nbsp; John adored Bob. The feeling was mutual.

Upon his brother-in-law’s passing (over ten years ago) and his sister, Sharon’s, passing (four years ago), John moved into Ascension Via Christi Village at Broadmoor, an Assisted Living facility.&nbsp; While many questioned how a regimented man like John would fare with such a big change, he acclimated wonderfully.&nbsp; Here, he received wonderful care and made many friends.&nbsp; John’s only complaint was that the roast was not as tender as what his sister, Sharon, used to make and they served too many sandwiches.&nbsp; While John liked most foods, especially Mexican food, he HATED sandwiches.&nbsp; And here, like anywhere, whatever he ate, he always stopped when he was full.&nbsp; John continued to love routine at his new place .&nbsp; He had one nonalcoholic beer every Monday (with his beef jerky) and was certain to let his nieces, Amy and Jennifer, know when his Keurig coffee pods dropped below 50 and therefore, evidenced vacant holes in his display containers.

One of the most intriguing things about John was his incredible memory and ability to retain and recall facts.&nbsp; He was interested in all things geographical, historical, &amp; related to heritage.&nbsp; John learned more from TV than most of us can probably recall from all of our time in high school. &nbsp;If anyone wanted to know something, we would call John into the room.&nbsp; He could tell you the year Myles Standish came over on the Mayflower and the name of Myles’ wife.&nbsp; John was happy to explain to anyone about the Texas Rangers and how Arizona’s Rangers are no longer the same as they were years ago.

Probably most noteworthy, John loved animals, refusing to pick a favorite &amp; insisting until the end of time that the leopard at the zoo only wanted to befriend the boy who crawled over the fence.&nbsp; Much like he refused to say that he favored his niece, Jennifer, over his other niece, Amy, he insisted he liked both cats &amp; dogs equally.&nbsp; John had the best disposition of anyone we have ever met. He was never heard speaking an ill word about anyone and he looked past grievances.&nbsp; Many of us learned a lot from John and will miss him terribly.

As John came to the end of life, Harry Hynes Hospice was again there for our family.&nbsp; We would like to acknowledge their staff for their exceptional care and concern.

John is survived by his nieces:&nbsp; Amy (Bob) Schell, Jennifer Reid. and Suzanne Rickabaugh; nephews: &nbsp;Keith (Erin) Rickabaugh and Michael (Kit) Rickabaugh; and many great nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, J. Evert and Velva (Todd) Gray, sister, Sharon Reid and her husband, Tom, and sister, Patricia Rickabaugh and her husband James, as well as his niece, Kathy (Tony) Blanset.&nbsp; John would note that he was preceded in death also by former pets:&nbsp; Garth, Lexi, Sam, Ringo, and Caymus.

John E. Gray  |1943-2022| 

Jerry “Allen” Crow, 70, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away February 25, 2022, at McPherson Hospital. He was born February 19, 1952, in Wheeler, Texas, the son of Donald Gene and Geraldine Risner Crow. 

Allen has resided in McPherson for the past six years, formerly of Holyrood. He graduated from Higgins High School, Higgins, Texas, with the class of 1970, and received his bachelor’s degree in biology at West Texas State University in 1975. Allen graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in addiction counseling, and a master’s degree in addiction counseling in 2020 from Washburn University. He worked at a natural gas complex near Bushton, for over 20 years, and was a substance abuse counselor for the past three years at Mirror in Hutchinson, retiring in December of 2021. 

Allen was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Holyrood and served on the Holyrood Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting vinyl albums, was an avid reader, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

On June 1, 1974, Allen was united in marriage with Karen J. Meller in Higgins, Texas. She survives of the home. Jerry “Allen” Crow, 70, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away February 25, 2022, at McPherson Hospital. He was born February 19, 1952, in Wheeler, Texas, the son of Donald Gene and Geraldine Risner Crow. Allen has resided in McPherson for the past six years, formerly of Holyrood. He graduated from Higgins High School, Higgins, Texas, with the class of 1970, and received his bachelor’s degree in biology at West Texas State University in 1975. Allen graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in addiction counseling, and a master’s degree in addiction counseling in 2020 from Washburn University. He worked at a natural gas complex near Bushton, for over 20 years, and was a substance abuse counselor for the past three years at Mirror in Hutchinson, retiring in December of 2021. Allen was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Holyrood and served on the Holyrood Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting vinyl albums, was an avid reader, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. On June 1, 1974, Allen was united in marriage with Karen J. Meller in Higgins, Texas. She survives of the home. Patricia was a graduate of Neosho High School, Neosho, MO.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and the owner of P. Lee’s Antiques and Memories, Pawnee Rock, KS.

On November 11, 1961, she married O. Wayne Lee.&nbsp; They shared over 42 years of marriage, prior to his death on January 16, 2004.

Patricia is survived by:&nbsp; her daughter, Christina Long and husband Kevin; grandson, Kyle Long and wife Camaro; and great-granddaughter, Prudence Jo Long, all residing in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Patricia Kathlene Johnson of Hutchinson, Kansas, was born on August 24th, 1958. She grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas where she lived most of her life. She passed away peacefully at Hospice House of Reno County on Saturday, February 26th, 2022.

After graduating at 16 years old from Hutchinson High School, Patricia then enlisted in the United States Navy. She went through boot camp in beautiful Florida, before being stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. It was in Norfolk that, after being discharged from the Navy, she became a mom. Years later Patricia made her way back to her hometown of Hutchinson, where she met her husband.

Patricia adored birds of all kinds and kitty cats, and passed on her love for animals to her children. She was a fun loving woman and in her younger years would dance the night away with her husband. When her children were still young she would do all sorts of silly things to make them laugh.

Patricia was preceded in death by: her mother, Ruth Ina Ayres Williams, and her father, Gary Hoag.

She is survived by: her husband of nearly 32 years, Loren Johnson of Hutchinson, Kansas, daughters, Laurel Litton of South Hutchinson, Kansas, Audra Sisler and Julie Johnson, both of Hutchinson, Kansas, sons, Marcus George of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Aaron George of Texas, sister Cynthia Robertson and husband Richard of San Diego, California, four beautiful granddaughters, Taylor and Isabella Sisler, and Kaylee and Zowie Litton, aunt Gaylene (Hoag) Brazeal, aunt Mary Adah Ziegler of Overland Park, Kansas, uncle John Forbes and wife Sandy, and many other extended family and friends.

J.D. Hager, Jr., age 84, passed away with his daughter by his side on Feb. 24, 2022 at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham, KS.  

He was born on Aug. 18, 1937 at St. John, KS., the son of J.D. and Mary (Delker) Hager, Sr.  A life-long resident of St. John, he was a 1955 graduate of St. John High School and graduated from Pratt Community Junior College in 1961.   He had a 58-year successful career in banking, working through all the positions from teller to bank president held 1974-1984 and elected chairman of the board in January 2003 to present.  He received his 50-year banking award and was a member of the Kansas Bankers Association. J.D. served on numerous boards to include, Stafford County Country Club, 20-years as Stafford County Commissioner, Quivira Scenic By-Ways planning board, was instrumental in getting the Stafford County Annex built and the Stafford County Solid Waste department established.  

On Feb. 17, 1956, he married Kay (Maddox) of Red Oak, IA, to this union came a daughter, Julie (Steve) Hash, Grand Junction, CO; a son, James D. “Jim” Hager, Wichita, KS.; on Nov. 23, 1994, he married Rose Marie (Fuqua) of St. John, KS., thus expanding his family adding Marie’s daughter, Julie Good, Tyler, TX., and a son, Douglas (Evette) W. Fox, Ponchatoula, LA.; two sisters, Dorothy Jordan, Nevada, MO and Donna (Joe) Heter, Branson, MO.; grandchildren, Ryan and Travis Hash, Mindy Willis, five blended grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnny L. Hager and C. William “Bill” Hager.  

Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 from 1-7PM with family present from 5-7PM. Steven Wayne Owens, 57, of Hutchinson, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 25, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 4, 1964, in Albuquerque, NM, to William L. and Peggy D. (Alexander) Owens.

Steve graduated from Lyons High School in 1982 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He worked as a truck driver for Groendyke and JACAM for many years. Steve loved watching and playing sports of all kinds and was a diehard OU Sooners fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve was of the Christian faith and had a strong relationship with Jesus.

On May 26, 1984, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra D. Simms, in Lyons. She survives.

Also surviving are: his parents, Bill and Peggy Owens of Burrton; children, Brian Owens of Wichita, Tarah Bartlett (Tim) of Fort Worth, TX, Danny Owens (Jenna) of Hutchinson; siblings, William “Billy” Owens Jr. (Susan) of Adamsville, TN, Martin Owens (Dianne) of Riverside, CA, Christell Pinkston (Arlie) of Hutchinson, Jarrett Owens of Ottawa, KS, April Owens (Jeffrey Guerrero) of Hutchinson, Kurt Owens (Jenny) of Belle Plaine, MN; grandchildren, Brian Owens II, Teagan Bartlett, Tatum Bartlett, Olivia Owens, Bennett Owens; and numerous extended family members.

Howard was a life-long farmer.&nbsp; He was a member of Meridian Church of God in Christ Mennonite.

Howard was united in marriage to Shirley Joan Wiggers on September 4, 1964, at Hesston.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

He is also survived by his daughter, Sharon Giesel (Tony) of rural Hesston; sons, Galen Jantz (Becky) and Carl Jantz (Marsha) all of rural Moundridge; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Keith Jantz (Pam), Kansas City, Missouri; sisters, June Jantz, Clarksdale, Mississippi, Winona Koehn (Russel), Montezuma, KS, Janet Jost, Brooksville, MS; and sisters-in-law, Elnora Jantz, Stover, MO, Marge Jantz, Scio, Oregon and Delores Holdeman, Sumner, Texas.

Milton Buford “Bud” Moore, Jr., 77, of Medicine Lodge, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Kansas Medical Center, Andover. He was born on May 22, 1944 in Derby, the son of Milton Buford Moore, Sr., of Derby, and the late Mary (Wooley) Moore. On September 4, 1976, he married Diana (Bailey) Moore. She survives. Bud was passionate about four things; faith, family, education, and adventure. He spent four years in the United States Navy followed up with college at Wichita State University where he played and then later coached football. After graduation, he taught and coached football in Rose Hill. In 1984, he became the Principal at Medicine Lodge High School and served in that role for 18 years. He then began a career in Special Education with the South Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative until his retirement in 2013. Even after retirement he served on the Medicine Lodge School Board until his passing. Bud never met a stranger. While he enjoyed many rounds of golf, his absolute favorite past-time later in life was spending time with his grandchildren, Collin and Mason. Surviving in addition to his wife, Diana Moore of Medicine Lodge, KS are his father, Milton (Eugenia) Moore, Sr. of Derby; two sons, Nick (Tiffany) Moore of Andover, and Matt Moore and fiancée Aimee of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Collin and Mason Moore; two sisters, Colleen Irvin of Hico, TX and Beckie (Mike) Hall of Austin, TX. Bud was preceded in death by his mother, one brother, Steve Moore and one brother-in-law, Neal Irvin. Surviving in addition to his wife, Diana Moore of Medicine Lodge, KS are his father, Milton (Eugenia) Moore, Sr. of Derby; two sons, Nick (Tiffany) Moore of Andover, and Matt Moore and fiancée Aimee of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Collin and Mason Moore; two sisters, Colleen Irvin of Hico, TX and Beckie (Mike) Hall of Austin, TX. Bud was preceded in death by his mother, one brother, Steve Moore and one brother-in-law, Neal Irvin. Lee Pownell, 73, passed away peacefully – surrounded by family and toe tappin’ to Johnny Cash – on February 24, 2022, in Newton. Lee was born the first (and rowdiest) of three boys to Milton and Mary Pownell on August 10, 1948, at Halstead Hospital in Halstead. Lee attended Halstead High School in Halstead, but, like any good rebel, he made sure to get kicked out. (Luckily for his family, although he never did learn to ask for permission, he eventually learned to ask for forgiveness.) Lee went on to obtain an Associate of Science degree from Hutchinson Junior College in Hutchinson, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Wichita State University in Wichita.

Lee was a true-blue country boy who was blessed with a genius-level IQ and a stubborn but tenacious spirit. Lee enjoyed Kansas fall weather, the Kansas Jayhawks, the mountains in the West, chopping firewood, building or repairing anything, big red barns, wildlife (especially wolves), classic country music, Westerns, and – especially – his own (many) garages. Lee looked forward to the Kansas autumn auction season every year, and, even if he bought a little too much, it was always astonishingly organized in the incredible double-decker garage that he designed himself.

Notwithstanding his enjoyment of the outdoors, as a young man, Lee had the vision to see that computers were the future. Using his ability to teach himself anything, Lee became an early computer programmer in the 1980s; his computer-programming career spanned for decades, and he worked at both Farmland Industries in Hutchinson, KS, and his alma mater, Wichita State University. Lee also taught himself auto mechanics, much to the dismay of his daughters (as there was never an excuse to buy a new car).

Lee had the good fortune to meet the beautiful Barbara – his wife of more than 50 years – while draggin’ Main Street in Newton in the 1960s. Lee spotted Barbara in the moonlight, hard at work sweeping the lot at A&amp;W Drive In, and he took a chance and asked her for a date. She agreed to one date, but Lee knew he had to double down (and he also knew there was no way he could show up to take Otto’s daughter out on a date on a motorcycle), and so he made sure to buy a brand-new Oldsmobile the next day. Lee and Barbara were blessed with two spunky daughters, Jessy and Katie, who traveled the world but would always take the dirt roads back home to see his newest additions to the garagestead.

Lee is survived by wife Barbara Dalke Pownell, of Newton; daughter Jessica Leigh (Camilo), of Tampa, FL; daughter Katherine Michelle (Kartheek), of San Francisco, CA; brother David (Helene), of Manhattan, KS; sister-in-law Pamela (Victor) Garcia, of Newton; and sister-in-law Ruth Jacob of Halstead.

Lee was preceded in death by father Milton Pownell, mother Mary Clupny Pownell, brother John Pownell, father- and mother-in-law Otto Dalke and Wilma Welty Dalke, and brother-in-law Michael Dalke.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday. March 1, 2022 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel 215 North Main Newton, Kansas with Pastor Chip Bungard presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Newton.

Markley Harold “Mark” Zwink, age 68, passed away on January 25, 2022, in Boulder, CO.&nbsp; Born on May 9, 1953, at Newton, he was the son of Robert A. and Vivian M. (Barsell) Zwink.

Mark graduated from Macksville High School in 1971 and later joined the US Navy.&nbsp; After completing his military service, he moved to Larned, which would be his home for the rest of his life.&nbsp; Mark attended Barton County Community College.&nbsp; He was a member of the First Christian Church of Larned.

Mark held a number of jobs in Larned.&nbsp; He worked at KANS Radio as a broadcaster and in other capacities.&nbsp; There, on occasion, he greatly enjoyed serving as sportscaster for local and area high school games.&nbsp; He later was employed by The Tiller and Toiler newspaper, where his duties included writing the column Zwink or Zwim, which often included Mark’s unique perspective on local events and personalities.&nbsp; He then worked on the custodial staff for the Fort Larned School District, making many lifelong friendships with fellow school employees and students.&nbsp; At the time of his death, he was a part-time employee at the Larned Community Center, helping with activities and events and assisting regulars and visitors young and old.&nbsp;

Mark was an avid sports fan, enthusiastically following his favorite teams and athletes whether they were at the professional levels or in the youth leagues. He was a genuine people person.&nbsp; His easy smile, wry wit, sense of humor, and colorful, engaging personality will be missed by many.&nbsp;

Mark was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by brothers David Zwink, Mississauga, ON, Canada; Timothy (Ann) Zwink, Piedmont, OK;&nbsp; Joel (Patti) Zwink, Pacific City, OR; and Jonathan (Janice) Zwink, Topeka, KS; and sister Debra (George) Susoeff, Mapleton, OR; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his many, many friends in the Larned community.

Mark’s family would especially like to extend its heartfelt thanks to those close friends of Mark who assisted him during his last, brief illness.

On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, Nova Ann Frick Bowman, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 86. Nova was born in Hollis, Oklahoma June 5th, 1935, to Odell (Hays) and Earl Smith. 

She graduated from Garden City High School in 1953. She received her Associates Degree from Frank Phillips Community College. Received Degrees from West Texas State University, now West Texas A&amp;M, BA in 1969 and MS in Education, 1974. Nova taught in Borger, Texas for 12 years, Great Bend and Ellinwood, for 20 years. She was proceeded in death by her late husband, Ronald Frick 1973. She later married Jack Bowman in 1980. Nova was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Ellinwood, and member of the National Society Magna Charta Dames, DAR in Borger, First Families of the Twin Territories of OK, Daughter of the Republic of Texas, and Tennessee, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Calhoun County Michigan Genealogical Society. Nova enjoyed teaching all of her students as she specialized in reading. She loved hunting, fishing, and sports with Jack. She spent a lot of time on the road supporting Jack’s athletic coaching teams. She loved to crochet and sew and staying up-to-date in technology. She loved spending time cooking enchiladas for her family. 

She is survived by her husband, Jack of the home; Her children Mark (Gail) Frick of Amarillo, TX, Debra Knight, Jim (Stephanie) Frick and Michael Frick all of Borger TX. Jack’s children, Lonnie (Janet) Bowman of Basehor, Jackie (Bill) Cook and Teresa (Rob) Long both of Great Bend, and Jill Bowman of Ellinwood. Her surviving brother, Earl Lavern (Fae) Smith of Borger, TX. She is also special to her 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She was proceded in death by her parents. 

The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 28, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, KS.&nbsp;

Dan’s life began on December 12, 1958, in Marion. He was the son of Ronald “Bunk” and Kathleen (Taylor) Ludwig. 

He was a 1976 graduate of Marion High School where he played defensive end on the football team. Dan went on to Butler County Community College and started on the football team at Butler as a defensive end. Dan was the owner of Ludwig Truck Lines in Florence continuing a 100-year-old tradition of trucking in the family. 

He was united in marriage to the former Cathy Douglas Jantzen on July 21, 2018, at the Christian Church of Florence. Dan served his community as a board member for the Florence Community Foundation and the Florence City Council. His younger days growing up in Florence were a bit more adventurous as he, his brother and a friend may have been responsible for a house burning down or the endless taunting of the neighbors’ pet racoon. Dan loved to eat out and attended lots of his nephews, nieces, and step grandchildren sporting events. He was also known as Santa or the Easter Bunny during the holidays around Florence. His greatest joy was his family. 

Dan is survived by his wife Cathy of Florence, his father Ronald “Bunk” Ludwig of Florence, daughter Brandy Cross of Missouri, step children Jeremy and Michele Gossen, Brian and Andrea Rice, and Ben and Dallas Jantzen; grandchildren Colton, Cade, Cale, Barrett, Collins, MacKenzie and Cole and his siblings Douglas Ludwig of Florence, Tawnya (Steve) Sokoll of Wichita and Rolana (Scott) Heidebrecht of Marion and several nieces and nephews.

On February 21, 2022, Mackenzly Rose Lohmeyer was born as a little angel in heaven, to Benjamin James and Heather Michelle (Roman) Lohmeyer.

Mackenzly is survived by:&nbsp; her parents, Benjamin and Heather Roman; maternal grandmother, Sandi Roman; paternal grandfather, Randy Roman; paternal grandmother, Cindy Waggoner (Shane); paternal grandfather, Jim Lohmeyer (Vickie); great-grandfathers, Tom Higdon and Bill Lohmeyer; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Jerri Higdon, and great-grandparents, Bert and John Knoblauch, and Louise and Pete Roman.
