Harold Vance (Satch) Sales passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Pine Village, Moundridge. Harold was born in Peoria, Illinois on July 29, 1927, the son of the Late Marie (Burch) Sales and Hamer Vance Sales.
Harold attended the Roxbury grade school and graduated from Roxbury High School in 1945. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, where he served his church through the years working with the youth group and in many other capacities.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 2nd Class in WWII earning the Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Medal.
Harold worked for Westgate Greenland as a roustabout for several years before starting with the National Cooperative Refinery Association (NCRA now CHS) in August of 1953 and retired as an electrician after 36 years of service for the company.
Harold enjoyed sports, antique cars, camping and traveling with his family. But most of all, Harold loved his family and was so welcoming to new family members through life’s experiences. He loved his Saturday morning breakfasts with Brandon and Bryan and Sundays after church with his sister Carolyn and her husband, Jay. The Kansas City Royals and Chiefs were a must to watch.
Harold V. Sales was united in marriage to Lorna Marilyn Tolle on June 9, 1951, at Roxbury, Kansas. She died January 3, 2005. Harold was united in marriage to Martha Juhnke Kaufman on December 25, 2007, in McPherson. She died July 31, 2019.
He is survived by son Kevin (Brenda) Sales of McPherson; Grandsons: Brandon Sales, Bryan Sales, Gene Wilson (Lindsay), and Jeff (Sara) Wilson all of McPherson;. Great Grandchildren: Kelsey Wilson of Shawnee, Hannah Wilson, Emma Wilson, Drew Wilson and Riley Gard all of McPherson; sister Carolyn (Jay) Herren, McPherson; stepdaughters Ginny (Paul) Sprague of McPherson and Mary (Steve) Heath of Dighton; Step-Granddaughters: Christy (Jeff) Tate of Madison, AL, Tracey (Joe) Pitman of Oklahoma City and Elizabeth Heath (fiance’ Derrick Kraft) of Meade; Step Great Grandchildren: Logan Tate, Harlan and Hiett Pitman; and many nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Ollie May Corbitt Sales; his first wife, Marilyn Sales; second wife, Martha Kaufman; a son, Kurtis Sales; sisters Omega “Mick” Alford, Gertrude Heckard, and Janet Sales; brothers Ralph Sales and Bill Archer; and daughter-in-law Jeanene Jennings Sales.
As per his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Inurnment of cremains will be at Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury.
Time of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 @ 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, McPherson.
