Douglas Dwain “Doug” Nichols, 64, died Monday, October 3, 2022, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born May 1, 1958, in Hutchinson, to Lawrence “Larry” and Karen Elizabeth (Cannon) Nichols.
Doug graduated from Nickerson High school in 1976. He worked for many years as a machinist, working at Master Machine in South Hutchinson before it closed. Doug enjoyed racing motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and listening to music, especially Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks and Lynyrd Skynyrd. His greatest pride and joy were his nieces, nephews and great-niece.
Doug faced life challenges, until he found The Omega Project, in McPherson. It was there that he received hope, strength, and a new lifestyle and friends, to help him with the valleys in his life.
Doug is survived by: his mother, Karen Nichols of South Hutchinson; sisters, Debra Kitts (Craig), and Lori Dimmitt (Robert), all of Hutchinson; nieces and nephews, Tyler Kitts (Samantha), Michelle Updegrove (Jeff), Zane Dimmitt, and Kyli Dimmitt; great-niece, Oaklee Mae Kitts; and beloved canine companion, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Private graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
