Lee “Pete” Laaser was born in Kansas City, on April 18, 1957, to Norman and Thornton Laaser.

Pete is survived by his son, Tyler Laaser and wife Alison of Topeka; daughters Selena Klumpy of Emporia, Dakota Elvarez and husband Alex of Mankato, and Meghan Overton of Blue Springs, Missouri; brother, Brett Laaser and wife June of Texas; and sister, Dawn and husband Jim of Arizona. Once Pete married Jan Stucky Laaser he gained four more children, Emma, Ethan, Elicia, and Andrew Stucky, they also survive along with six grandsons, and four granddaughters.

Pete will be remembered for his love of cooking, smoking meats and great Thanksgiving dinners. He always wanted others to enjoy his cooking. He had a passion for training his dogs and watching Kansas City Chiefs football games. Pete always took great pride in his work and abilities when working with concrete.

Pete’s abilities to tell jokes and make others laugh will be greatly missed.

Lee Eldean Curtis, age 91, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2022 at the Kansas Soldier’s Home in Fort Dodge. He was born on Nov. 17, 1930 in Hutchinson, the son of Randall Lee and Augusta Julia (Dorrschuck) Curtis. 

Lee served in the U.S. Army 24th Division from 1954 to 1956. He graduated from Kansas State University with an Agriculture and Applied Science Degree. He earned a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education at Northwestern University. Lee had been a real estate agent, school teacher, and life-long farmer. He married Roberta M. Monroe and later married Mary R. “Mert” (Lancaster-Hays) on May 31, 1980 at the Antrim United Methodist Church in Stafford County. Lee was a member of the Antrim United Methodist Church, Kanza CO-OP, NRA, and the Rose Valley Township Board. 

Lee is survived by his wife; a daughter, Carol (Jerry) Long; step son Mark (Teresa) Hays; grandchildren, Brandon (Crystal) Hays, Christine (Jason) John, Dedra (Nathan) Hogan, Samantha Long, Ava (Kyle) Bunker, Ethan (Ariel) Long, Grant Gordon, Olivia Cade, Lacey Cade; step grandchildren, Elijah Basore, Cody Cade, Haley Cade, Ben Cade, and Josh Cade; 14 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Marilyn Curtis. Twila Dumond, 74, of Lyons, passed away August 10, 2022, at her son’s home in Augusta. She was born August 6, 1948, in Cedar Vale, the daughter of Leslie and Rosa (Watson) Wolfe. 

She has been a resident of Lyons since July of 1976, formerly of Ellsworth. She graduated from Sedan High School with the class of 1966. She then went on to study computer punch card programming in Kansas City and later attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Twila was united in marriage with John W. “Jay” Dumond on August 18, 1967, in Caney. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2018. 

Twila was actively involved in church and community life. She was a member of Lyons Assembly of God Church for 46 years. A small business owner, she owned and operated DuMond Printing for 20 years, retiring on March 1, 2022. Committed to sharing God’s Word, she served as regional president for Gideons Auxiliary International. She was a former Lyons City Council woman, member of the Lyons Chamber of Commerce, helped with prison ministry in Rice County, was an Advocate for Teen Challenge, and a volunteer for the Rice County Census. Hospitality was one of her many gifts, and her home was often full of people. 

Twila is survived by her three sons, Rodney Dumond and wife Liz of Niantic, CT., Rev. Travis Dumond and wife Melissa of Augusta, Rick Dumond of Lyons; daughter, Angela Bonnema and husband Rev. Jamie of Abilene; borrowed son, Ronnie Young and wife Kimberly of Golden, CO.; sisters, Goldie Mae Seibel of Arkansas City, Willa Bea and husband Virgil Shull of Chatauqua, Phoebe and husband Stan Irey of Menifee, CA., Louise and husband Pondu Shenoy of Mountain View, CA., Clara Ann Roebuck of Chatauqua, Treva Douglass of Lyons; six grandchildren, William, Colin, Samuel, Amelia and Lydia Dumond, Sterling Bonnema, and borrowed grandsons Wyatt and Tyler Young. Leonard John Henning, 94, was born on March 8th, 1928 in Willowdale. He is the son of Anthony “Antone” and Emma Mertens Henning; and brother to Julius, Anthony Jr., Robert, Eugene, Joan, and Florence.

Leonard grew up near Willowdale farming with his father and brothers. His mother, Emma, passed away when he was only 12 years old.

On August 13th, 1951, Leonard married Rosalyn “Rosie” Schwartz in Great Bend. Together they had 6 children – Geneva, Stanley, Randall, Sheila, Sharon, and Vernon “Bud”.

Leonard and Rosie raised their family near Willowdale and made their living raising cattle, chickens, pigs, and wheat. Tragedy struck during the harvest of 1974. While Leonard was working on the carburetor of a combine, it backfired, catching him on fire. He was blown off the machine and broke his ankle badly in the fall. He spent the next 2 years battling complications of the accident and nearly losing his leg.

When he was not working on the farm, Leonard’s favorite thing to do was fish. In the winter, he would take his boat and camper down to Corpus Christi, TX. There he spent his days catching Red Fish, Sheephead, Flounder, an occasional seagull, and usually the back of someone's head. He loved to cast right over your line if you were in a better spot than him. He also made good use of the dip net - not to help bring in a big one - but to knock your fish off the line if it was bigger than his.

Leonard’s personality was larger than life. His ornery sense of humor and contagious laugh put a smile on everyone’s face. His stories were always just a “little” exaggerated, and he would never hesitate to tell you exactly what he thought. Family meant everything to him. Beating family at a game of 5 point pitch meant even more. He was famous for bidding 4 on the deuce and confusing everyone, mostly his partners. Holidays spent gathered together playing pitch are a cherished memory for the generations Leonard and Rosie have left behind.

Leonard lived his life mostly close to home, taking occasional drives to Salt Plains or Cripple Creek or maybe just around the section to check out the wheat. He attended St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, both in Willowdale.

Leonard was preceeded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jed; his brothers, Julius, Anthony Jr., and Robert; his children, Randy, and Sheila; and his beloved wife of 67 years, Rosie.

Leonard was called to heaven on August 13th, 2022 at Wheatlands Health Care Center, Kingman.

He is survived by: his children, Geneva Henning (Gary), Stanley Henning (Becky), Sharon Nowak (Randy), Vernon “Bud” Henning; his sisters, Florence “DeeDee” Elsen, Joan Schwartz; his brother, Eugene “Gene” Henning; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandson.

Steven “Jejak” Lee Michael Martin, 72, passed away August 13, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born September 26, 1949, in Rossville, to Paul “Mook” and Nellie Irene (Gibson) Martin.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Steve was a 1968 graduate of McPherson High School. He graduated from Brown Mackie College, Salina, with an associate's degree in business.&nbsp; Steve was a former employee of Farmland Industries, Willbros Pipeline Construction, and retired from Calm Creek Carriers as a truck driver. He was also co-owner of MSI Wireless.&nbsp;

Steve was a family man and loved spending time with his family. He was a proud member of the Potawatomi Nation.&nbsp;

In 1968, Steve married Judy Frickey and they later divorced. He then married, Deanne Smith Bowersox on June 27, 2008, in Hutchinson.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Steve is survived by: his wife, Deanne of Hutchinson; children, Melissa Jill (Brian) Gibson of Owasso, OK, and Paul Jason “Jake” (Kelsey) Martin of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Shaelee (Chad) Mendenhall of Hutchinson, and Jaron Bowersox of Kansas City; siblings, Mary Hudson and Pauline Bickford, both of Rossville, Henry (Carol) Martin of Hesston, and C.D. Ron served in the United States Army.&nbsp; He was employed as a tool grinder at Eaton Corporation, formerly Cessna Power Fluid Division, retiring with over 28 years of service.

On November 5, 1965, Ron married Edweena Eileen Keller, in Pratt.&nbsp; Ron and Edweena were married by her uncle at her sister’s home.&nbsp; They shared over 56 years of marriage.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Edweena Warford of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Brianna (Jason) Kraus of Newton, Josh (Lindsey) Homewood of Halstead, Miranda Homewood of Halstead, and Amanda Hahn of Halstead; great-grandchilden, Dalton Kraus, Kaden Kraus, Waylon Homewood, Wyatt Hahn, Kingston Heck, Landrey Homewood, Maverick Heck, Adelynn Hahn, Allister Brock, and Kindrick Homewood; brother, Danny (Cathy) Warford of Topeka; and close friends, Loring and Maricel Meyers and their children Ashlee, Aiden, and Anaia.

Samuel F. Bowman, 63, passed away August 11, 2022 at his residence. He was born October 8, 1958 in Council Grove to Donald and Rosie (Mayes) Bowman. 

He married Dena Tajchman February 26, 1982 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lincolnville.

Donna Mae Richards, 91, of Hesston, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.&nbsp; She was born August 28, 1930 in McPherson County, the daughter of Fred and Marian (Tolle) Jacobson.

Donna graduated from Roxbury High School with the class of 1948.

She attended the Roxbury United Parish in Roxbury, Kansas, where she also played the organ.

Donna had an enduring love for music and provided piano and organ music for hundreds of weddings, funerals, and events.&nbsp; She also acted as a poll worker in local elections.

Donna was united in marriage to Herbert Overton. From this union their son Anthony was born. She later married Lee Richards on December 4, 1982 in Hesston.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on September 10, 2014.

She worked as an administrative assistant and office manager at Hesston Corp for many years.

She is survived by her son, Tony (Yvonne) Overton of Buhler; four step daughters, Pam Long, Lori Swanson, Diane Webber and Nancy Dwyer; three grandchildren Michael Overton, Andy (Candice) Overton and Sarah (David) Jones; and one great-grandson, Otto Overton.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Jay Verona.

Cremation is planned.&nbsp; Inurnment will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury.&nbsp; Memorial services will follow at Roxbury United Parish.&nbsp;

Celia F. Unruh, 99, of Strasburg, Colorado, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 at University of Colorado Hospital in Denver.&nbsp; She was born March 17, 1923 in Marysville, the daughter of Theodore Franklin and Violet May (Long) Butler.

She was a member of Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Moundridge.&nbsp; Celia was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and was the eldest member of the Longs Peak Chapter in Longmont, Colorado.

Celia was united in marriage to Cecil Unruh on February 8, 1947 in Salina.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on February 20, 1996.

Celia was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Cy (Terry) Unruh of Strasburg, CO; grandson, Ryan Unruh; great-grandchildren, Kassie Hogeland and Gaige Unruh; great-great-granddaughter, Alaina Hogeland; and many nieces and nephews.

Celia was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Violet Butler; husband, Cecil Unruh; three sisters, Helen, Rosemarie, and her twin sister, Delia; three brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.

Harold D. Kaufman, 95, of Moundridge, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Pine Village.&nbsp; He was born January 13, 1927 in McPherson County, Kansas, the son of David and Helen (Graber) Kaufman.

He attended school at Pleasant Ridge, Berlin and Liberty Elementary Schools.&nbsp; Harold graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1945, and later attended Hutchinson Junior College.&nbsp;

In 1953, Harold served in the 1W service as a psych aide for two years at Topeka State Hospital in Topeka.

Harold was united in marriage to Helen Stucky on August 17, 1950 in Moundridge.&nbsp; Born to this union was their son, Tony D. Kaufman on May 1, 1953.&nbsp; Helen preceded Harold in death on December 7, 2012, after 62 years of marriage.

He farmed while working at Hesston Corporation and CASE in McPherson and Hutchinson.&nbsp; Harold worked at CASE for exactly 20 years, from November 15, 1968 to November 15, 1988.&nbsp; Following his retirement, Harold enjoyed gardening and inventing gadgets that proved useful in home maintenance.

Harold leaves behind two grandsons, Jeremy B. (Morgan) Kaufman of North Newton, and Trevor B (Katelyn) Kaufman of Wichita; one granddaughter, Shana K. (Adam) Tilman of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter-in-law, Kathy Kaufman Chouinard of Newton; and six great-grandchildren, Josie Kaufman, Maggie Kaufman, Maisie Kaufman, Hazel Kaufman, Easton Tilman, and Dailee Tilman; plus one great-grandchild on the way.

Philip H. Lee, of Hutchinson, passed away in his home at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight R. Lee, and his mother, Edna M. Lee.

Phil was a life-long K-State Wildcat fan having graduated from Kansas State University with undergraduate and master’s degrees in journalism. During his career, he worked as the editor of several newspapers in Nebraska and Kansas, including the Sterling Bulletin and the Hebron Journal Register. Later in life, he became a collector and dealer of antique furniture and glass.

Phil relished his role as an uncle and was generous and kind to his younger brother Chuck when they were boys. Phil was a lover of animals, and generally had a basset hound by his side for company.

Phil was born April 20, 1943. He is survived by his brother, Charles Lee, and sister-in-law Myndee Lee of Overland Park. He is also survived by his nieces Abby Lee (James) of Austin; Maggie Brown, Tulsa; Madyson Lee, Lawrence; and Emylee Reed, Lawrence.

Phil’s nephew, Brian Lee of Hutchinson, also survives. Brian spent many hours tending to Phil’s needs later in life and for that he is owed a debt of enormous gratitude.

Other survivors are his great-nephew, Benjamin Howard (Austin) and numerous cousins.

A private family graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.

He is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Esther Allen.

Virgil is survived by his wife of 35 yrs, Rebecca Allen, 5 children, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and brother Paul Allen.

Died 08/07/2022 in Holyoke, CO at the age of 86 from Congestive Heart Failure. Born in Omaha, NE 09/05/1935 to Joseph Schad and Viola Webb. Married Joyce Menges Aug. 13, 1960 in Wichita. Joyce died 12/28/2004. LeRoy worked many jobs over the years including sheet metal work for the airline industry, TV and appliance repair for Gibson, Titus and Stafford in Great Bend, and as an electrician for Essex in Hoisington, from 1974-1994. He later worked at Walmart in Great Bend, retiring in 2005. 

He entered the Army in 1958 and then the US Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1964. He served in Korea in 1959 and was a member of the 1stCalvary Division. He was a member of the American Legion in Great Bend, and in Holyoke, CO. LeRoy was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Seward, KS and the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department in Hudson. One of his favorite things to do in his free time was to go camping and fishing.  Every year he and Joyce would take the family to the lake for a camping adventure. There he taught them how to fish with bamboo fishing poles until they could handle a real fishing pole.  Many times, these trips ended abruptly due to a heavy thunderstorm which would often flood the campsite. But he always enjoyed this time with his family. He loved riding motorcycles and eventually talked Joyce in to riding with him. They joined the Central Kansas Road Riders in the 1990s and enjoyed many activities with them including Poker Runs. In his later years he took up craft work and attended many craft shows in Kansas and Colorado.  His began doing scroll saw projects which quickly became his favorite. He made many items to sell but also made personalized items for his children and grandchildren. LeRoy attended high school at Subiaco Seminary Academy and graduated in 1954. He and Joyce raised 6 children and moved to Hudson, in 1969 where he remained until 2021 when he moved to Colorado to be near his daughter and her husband. 

LeRoy is survived by his sons James Schad and children Amy, Daniel and Austin Schad; Fred Schad; Ken Schad and children Jared and Jenna Schad; Raymond Schad, wife Rachel and son Peter Schad, son David Schad and family; and daughter Laura Krogmeier and husband Paul; their children Karen &amp; Kirtlan Lewis and family; Diana and Justin Suhanyi and family; Philip and Victoria Krogmeier and family; Teresa and Luke Gregory and family; Brother Jim Horton and wife Lynn and sister Debbie Connor and husband David and family. Sisters-in-law Carol Henderson and Geraldine Menges as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Schad and Viola Horton, his wife Joyce, nephews Zachary Horton, Michael Menges, Matthew Menges and niece Mildred Menges; brothers-in-law Fred Menges Jr., Jerry Menges and John Henderson and sister-in-law Maxine Menges.

He was born Dec. 20, 1937, in Hutchinson the son of Walter George and Pauline Nickell Frampton.&nbsp; A lifetime resident, he was a retired farmer and stockman and Detention Officer for Kingman County.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.

On April 10, 1960, he married Etta Mae Balmas at Monett, Missouri.&nbsp; Other survivors include a son Rob and his wife Mendy; daughter Dianna Smith and her husband Austin; sister Donna Downs; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Lee Frampton and Gary Frampton.

Jim worked in the shipping and receiving department at Tyson Foods, formerly Doskocil Food Service Company, retiring with over 31 years of service.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army Reserves.&nbsp; Jim was a member of the American Giant Homer Association and various other poultry and pigeon clubs.&nbsp; He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping.

On April 9, 1966, Jim married Margaret Kelley, in Jewell.&nbsp; They shared over 54 years of marriage, prior to her death on July 23, 2020.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his children, Danny (Wendy) Barrett of Hutchinson, and Michelle (Dan) Silas of Nickerson; grandchildren, Connor (Logan Gitchell) Barrett, Caden Silas, Gage Silas, and Stefani Barrett; great-grandchildren, Piper and Skarlett Barrett; sister, Pat Flickinger of Sterling; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 He is survived by his parents Rusty L. and Linay Jones of Herington; children Autum Torres of Herington, Kaitlin Volkman of Park City, Adrina Volkman of Hope; Zach Bickford of Mcpherson, sister Tiffany (Josh Kasten) Jones of Herington; niece and nephew Kiersten Kamholz and Kyler Marshall. Russ passed away on August 4, 2022, in Hutchison as a result of an accident. 

 He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and a sister Stephanie L. Jones. His family will gather with friends on Saturday August 20, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Homes, Herington. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Cemetery at a later date.&nbsp;

Victor Stade, 104, of Haven, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at his home.&nbsp; He was born December 18, 1917 in Haven, the son of Carl Frederich and Anna Dora (Miller) Stade.

Victor graduated from Haven High School with the class of 1936.

He was united in marriage to Jessie Ruth Valdois on June 5, 1938.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on May 19, 1984.&nbsp; Victor later married Jaqueline “Jackie” Cisco on March 18, 1991.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on May 29, 2020.

Victor worked at Wendell Chain in the late 60’s as a welder.&nbsp; He was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer, retiring in 2014.&nbsp;

He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haven.&nbsp; Victor was confirmed at the church in 1932.

Victor was one of the founding members of the Prairie Pups Motorcycle Club in 1940.

He is survived by his son, Roger (Karen) Stade of Haven; daughter-in-law, Donna (Milburn) Hinners of Haven; grandchildren, Don Butler of Burrton; Mark (Julie) Stade of Haven; Brenda (Kreg) Goertzen of Wichita; Jay (Letique) Stade of Hutchinson; Diane (Blaine) McKinney of Parker, CO; Vicki (Jeff) Myers of Haven; and Kimberly (Jeff) Brown of Maize; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and niece, Sheryl Case White.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jessie Stade; second wife, Jackie Stade; son, Cecil Stade; brother, Milton (Irma) Stade; and niece, Carol Ann Grier.

On July 24, 1981, Nina married Larry Dreiling in Hutchinson.&nbsp; He survives of the home. Clyde Justus “Tony” Platt was born January 13, 1940 in Toronto, to Clare A. Platt Sr. &amp; Annetta V. (McCoy) Platt. He passed away Saturday, August 6th&nbsp;2022, in Newton, with his family at his side.

Clyde spent most of his youth in South Eastern Kansas, fishing and trapping small game with his brothers. This led to a lifelong love of fishing and enjoying the outdoors.

In 1965 he moved to Newton where he met and married the girl next door, Wanda Glass and for the next 57 years they spent time traveling and with their most loving family.

Clyde was very good with his hands and was definitely a jack of all trades, he loved a challenge and always could figure out any problem.

He spent several years driving a truck for other companies and as an owner operator.

In 1977 he went to work for Excel Ind. as a shear operator and received many promotions, his last being a customer service representative to which he was very good at, telling people how to fix their mower problems sight unseen. He retired in 2003 to do many honey do’s and of course fish.

He leaves behind his wife of the home; one son, Tony Platt and wife Venita of Wichita Falls, TX; three daughters, Charlotte Wilson of Seminole, Alabama, Jodi Runnells and husband Jim of Newton, KS, and Lori Vandever and fiance Dan Shaffer of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Christy Stargell, Michael Wilson, Tory Runnells, Leslie Smith, Derick Platt &amp; Trey Runnells; twelve great-grandchildren, Jeremy &amp; Kylee Martin, Lacy &amp; Tyler Wilson, Elisha &amp; Jonah Van Hulle, Blake &amp; Jackson Platt, Leona &amp; Anton Runnells, Logan Mills &amp; Adam Smith; brothers &amp; sister-in-laws, Clare &amp; Sharon Platt Jr., John &amp; Dorothy Platt, Jim Platt, Preston &amp; Nancy Platt; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip Glass and Barbara Raner; many nieces &amp; nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lori Lynn Cordell, 58, passed away the morning of August 6, 2022, surrounded by her close friends and family.

Lori was born on January 28, 1964 to Janet and Robert Guthrie in Larned. While she might have been born in a small town, Lori had a big childhood filled with adventure. At a young age, Lori and her two sisters explored the world by living in Singapore, Iran and Greece. Lori loved to play softball and was known for her outgoing, social personality.

When she was 18 and back in Wichita, Lori met her soulmate Jeff Cordell at the local race track. Lori knew instantly that he would be her best friend, telling her mom the next morning that she had just met the man she was going to marry. Jeff and Lori were inseparable ever since, marrying on December 1, 1984. Jeff and Lori simply enjoyed being with one another, which was evident during their 37 years of marriage. Even when they were married, Jeff felt like he was pursuing her. Every moment they spent together felt perfect, and they dedicated each day to building a happy home for their family.

Lori’s true passion was being a mother. She was known as a super mom, teaching her three children, Megan, Justin and Sammy, the importance of loving one another. Lori was protective at heart, always putting her family first. She worked hard and kept busy, passing her active lifestyle on to her kids by taking them to every practice, game and school musical possible. Lori was also mother to Chloe, her nine-year-old Shih Tzu who never wanted to leave her side even until the very end. Not only was Lori a wonderful mother, but she also took on the role of grandmother just as well. She would tell you that “Memaw” was the most important title she ever received. She loved being a grandmother and cherished every minute she got to play the game of Sorry with her four grandsons.

Lori was the life of every party. She knew how to celebrate birthdays, treated everyone to their favorite dessert and would mark special occasions by surprising family and friends with hand-crafted cards, shirts, signs and koozies. It was impossible to not have fun around Lori – her smile was bright and her laugh was contagious.

You could often find Lori out on the water, where she was truly at peace. Ever since she was a young girl, Lori wanted to be on the lake. She loved to ride on her father’s boat, go tubing and water ski. Lori passed her love of the water on to Jeff, teaching him how to master the wake, and later to her children, who joined her each summer at their house at Table Rock Lake. Lori was her happiest when she was on the water and there’s no question that she is sitting on a dock right now, Michelob in hand.

Lori showed her true character when she learned of her cancer diagnosis – she fought from day one, only ever thinking of her husband and family. It was evident what a strong woman she truly was. Lori’s smile and positive attitude never faded and she remained her cheerful self despite the battle.

Lori was preceded in death by her father Robert Guthrie, whom she is now enjoying boat rides with again.

She is survived by her beloved husband Jeff and their three children: Megan Cordell (David), Justin Cordell (Stefanie), and Sammy Quinn (Roman). She is also survived by her mother Janet Guthrie, her sisters Nicole Copeland and Julie Jarnagin, and her four grandsons Owen, Logan, Kamdyn and Roman.

In remembrance, the family will be hosting Lori Fest at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12 at the home that Jeff and Lori Cordell built together. There is no better celebration of Lori’s life than bringing the lake life home and sharing stories among her loved ones.

clerk for JCPenney.

Josephine
was born on January 19, 1923, in Denison Township, Lawrence County, Illinois,
the daughter of Malcom and Lena May (Pierson) Potts.&nbsp; On May 20, 1939, she
was united in marriage to Lewis Leslie Graham.&nbsp; He preceded her in death
on December 27, 1997.

She
attended Marquette United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting,
carving, gardening, and reading.

“Jo” Alice Graham, 99, of Marquette, peacefully passed away on Monday,
August 8, 2022, at Riverview Estates, Marquette.&nbsp; She was a retired sales
clerk for JCPenney.Josephine
was born on January 19, 1923, in Denison Township, Lawrence County, Illinois,
the daughter of Malcom and Lena May (Pierson) Potts.&nbsp; On May 20, 1939, she
was united in marriage to Lewis Leslie Graham.&nbsp; He preceded her in death
on December 27, 1997.She
attended Marquette United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting,
carving, gardening, and reading.Survivors
include: a son, Lewis Christopher Graham (Barbara) of Abilene; brothers,
James Potts of Bridgeport, IL and Chester Potts of Norfolk, VA; seven
grandchildren, Curtis Graham (Kathy), Natalie Davey (Lynn), Brenda Hoffman
(Tom), Allen Geren (Susan), Kevin Geren (Janet), Todd Graham (Brenda), and
Andrea Willems (Greg Hopp); numerous great-grandchildren, extended family &amp;
friends.She

Calvin “Cal” Gerald Yowell, 81, of Windom, and
formerly of McPherson, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022,
surrounded by family at the University of Kansas Health Systems in Kansas City. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Texas.&nbsp; He then worked for
McPherson County and the City of McPherson, retiring in 2004 as the street
sweeper.&nbsp; 

Cal was born on September 7, 1940, in Great Bend, the son of Calvin Glover and Mildred Marie (Ellrick) Yowell.&nbsp; He
graduated from high school in Aurora, CO.&nbsp; He was united in marriage to
Dianne Kay (Ibsen) Pride on August 30, 1991.

He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963
and the Army Reserve from 1963 to 1966. He was a member of the Marquette
American Legion.&nbsp; 

Cal loved living on the farm homestead where he and
Dianne built a home.&nbsp; He and Dianne enjoyed working outside together,
especially when it came to caring for the lawn and cutting wood for their
fireplace.&nbsp; Dianne would mow the grass while Cal ran the weed trimmer. Cal
was in charge of cutting the wood while Dianne would load and pile it.&nbsp; In
his younger years, Cal enjoyed hunting.&nbsp; His favorite holiday was
Christmas time, and his favorite place to eat was the Mexican restaurant,
LaFiesta, where he’d order the same thing every time.&nbsp; Cal and Dianne had
the opportunity to host a foreign exchange student, Olga, for a year.&nbsp;
Many special memories were made including Cal teaching her how to drive a
vehicle.&nbsp; Approximately a year after Olga went back home to Germany, Cal
and Dianne enjoyed time visiting her and her parents.&nbsp; Cal had a love for
dogs, and his most recent dog, a Cocker Spaniel named Sophie, was a loyal buddy
to him.&nbsp; Cal enjoyed time spent with friends.&nbsp; He was a very likeable
guy…..he liked everyone and everyone liked him back.&nbsp; 

Survivors include: his wife, Dianne of the home; a
son, David (Sheryl) Yowell; a nephew, Warren (Vickie) Brown; Dianne’s sons,
Richard Pride, Mark Pride, and Shawn Pride; Dianne’s granddaughter, Grace
Pride; and sister-in-law, Connie Birkes; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister,
Arlene.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00
PM, Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; A memorial
service with Military Honors will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 22, at
Stockham Family Funeral Home.

Calvin “Cal” Gerald Yowell  |1940-2022|  

On Thursday, August 4, Elsie Neufeld Miller passed away at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was 90 years old.

Elsie was the oldest child of Abram B. Neufeld and Agnes T. Doerksen Neufeld. She grew up on a farm in the sand hills near Inman. She graduated from Inman High School as valedictorian and homecoming queen in 1950.&nbsp; After working as the high school secretary for a year, Elsie volunteered with Mennonite Central Committee for the summer. She was sent to Gulfport, Mississippi, where she met Carl Miller. They were married in March 1952, and Elsie lived in Gulfport for the next 50 years.

Carl worked for car dealerships, holding several positions before becoming sales manager of the Chevrolet/Buick dealership in Gulfport. As part of a Chevrolet rewards program, Elsie and Carl traveled to Barbados, the Bahamas, Spain, London, Hawaii and Yugoslavia.

Carl and Elsie had two children, Kay and Kent. Elsie was primarily a homemaker, but early in her marriage, Elsie worked as a bookkeeper for a music store and gave piano lessons. After the children were grown, she was a Sales Associate at several fabric stores and, later, a church secretary. She also received top marks at Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College, where she completed her Associate’s degree.

Elsie was a prolific quilter, creating dozens of hand-stitched quilts for friends and family.After Carl passed away in 1999, Elsie decided to move back to Kansas to be closer to her family. In 2002, she sold her house in Mississippi, and bought an apartment at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. During her time in Kansas she revived old friendships and made new friends. She loved “sister days” with Leana, Irma and Naomi. She attended her childhood Church, Bethel Mennonite, teaching Sunday school, and participating in Friendship Circle.Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Agnes; her husband Carl; and her brother Harry Neufeld. She is survived by her daughter Kay and son-in-law Ken Boehr; her son, Kent and daughter- in-law Cynthia Fore Miller; her granddaughter Lydia and husband Jon DeMonte; and great-granddaughter, Luna. She is also survived by her sisters, Irma (Don) Gerbrandt, Leana (Orval) Regier, Naomi Neufeld; her brother Paul (Barbara) Neufeld; her sisters-in-law Jane Miller (Robert) Thomas and Donna Kaufman Neufeld; and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church in Inman, Kansas on August 20 at 2:30 PM.
