Samuel F. Crissman, Jr., age 83, passed away on Sept. 26, 2022 at St. John, KS.&nbsp; He was born on July 13, 1939 on a farm in rural Stafford County, the son of Samuel F. and Melba L. (Harman) Crissman, Jr.&nbsp; 

He was a farmer, former owner of Valley Irrigation and a drag racer, living and farming near St. John his entire life.&nbsp; He graduated from St. John High School in 1957 and attended some college at Fort Hays State University and Kansas State University. He was a member of the Eden Valley Church of the Brethren, Masonic Lodge, board member of St. John Farmers CO-OP, board member of Big Bend Groundwater Management District #5, FSA County committee member and Sunflower Rod and Custom Assoc.&nbsp;

 On Sept. 24, 1961 he married Sharon K. Estes at Macksville, KS., she survives of the home.&nbsp; Other survivors include two sons, Kirby W. (Leah) Crissman, St. John; Kenton E. (Rhonda) Crissman, Troutman, NC; one daughter, Kristene K. (Brian) Brown, St. John; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Crissman, St. John; a brother, Rodney R. (Pat) Crissman, St. John; two sisters, Melita G. (Harold) Schmidt, Newberg; OR., Lynda L. McAllister, St. John; seven grandchildren, Kayla Crissman, Kinser Crissman, Schuyler Brown, Katrena Brown, Kourtney (Tristan) Smith, Kerisa Brown and Erin Crissman. He was preceded in death by two sons, Kerry B. Crissman and Kelly F. Crissman.&nbsp;

Aletha Marie Kingdon, 89, of Little River, Kansas, passed away September 27, 2022, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. She was born August 15, 1933, in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Louis P. and Olga M. Larsen Kebschull. 

Aletha has resided in Little River since 2006, formerly of Maize, Kansas. She graduated from Eldora High School, Eldora, Iowa. Aletha was a homemaker and computer programmer for Defenders of the Christian Faith, Wichita. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Little River, Eastern Star, White Shrine, Order of the Amaranth, and The Social Order of the Beauceant. Aletha enjoyed china painting, ceramics, folk painting and sewing. 

On September 18, 1955, Aletha was united in marriage with Roderick G. Kingdon in Eldora, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1995. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert G. Kebschull; and great-grandson, Evan Kingdon. 

Aletha is survived by her two children, Carl Kingdon Sr. and wife Linda of Baxter, TN, and Kay Howie and husband Fred of Little River, KS; four grandchildren, Rebecca Kingdon, Carl Kingdon Jr. and wife Christina, Adrian Howie and wife Kristen, and Nicole McQueen and husband Mike; and ten great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 1, 2022, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita, with Pastor Anna Borders officiating.

Anna Grace (Wiens) Flickinger, 100, died peacefully September 28, 2022, in Inman. Anna Grace was born September 11, 1922, to Martin and Nettie (Vogt) Wiens in rural Inman. She married Virgil Flickinger on August 10, 1949, and they shared 37 years of marriage before his death in 1986. Education and service were important to Anna Grace. She taught first grade in various schools in Kansas before she and Virgil spent two years volunteering with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) doing relief work in Europe from 1950-1952. They spent a year in Naples, Italy, and another year in Germany, briefly in Berlin, but mainly in Kaiserslautern. Together they raised their family in Inman, where Anna Grace was active in church and community activities and organizations, as well as driving a Kindergarten bus route for Inman Grade School, and working at Pleasant View Home as a CMA. She enjoyed reading, quiltmaking, music, travel, and genealogy “in that order”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; parents, Martin D. and Nettie (Vogt) Wiens; sisters, Hilda (Wiens) Wiens and Kathrien (Wiens) Wedel; and brother, Ervin J. Wiens. Surviving are her children, Carol Flickinger (Roger Juhnke) of Newton, Jim Flickinger of Newton, Jean (Russ) Gaeddert of Hutchinson, and Nancy (Jeff) Friesen of Inman; grandchildren, Adam Gaeddert (Rebecca Woodruff), Sam (Keila) Gaeddert, Jake (Rebecca) Friesen, and Jared Friesen; and great-grandchildren, Clara and Eleanor Gaeddert, Jackson and Wesley Gaeddert. Virgie Anne Koehn, 80, of Moundridge, formerly of Halstead, and West Point Mississippi, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. 

Virgie and her husband Merle have lived at the Moundridge Manor since July of this year. She was born January 13, 1942 in Halstead, the daughter of Fred J. and Anna (Ratzlaff) Nightengale.

Virgie attended Halstead High School and later graduated from Scott City High School. She was a nurse aid at Halstead Hospital and a homemaker. Virgie was united in marriage to Merle E. Koehn on October 21, 1962 at Halstead. He survives.

Virgie and Merle attended Halstead Grace Mennonite Church when they were younger and they are current members of West Point Mennonite Church in West Point, Mississippi.

Other survivors include her daughters, Juli Buller of Galva, and Kristen Campbell of West Point, MS; son, Brian Koehn and his wife Kay of Prairie, MS.; grandchildren, Jesse, Brianna, Kip, Ivan, Lexie, Gretchen, Samantha, Anna, and Zack; and six great-grandchildren. Virgie was preceded in death by her parents; ten sisters; two brothers; grandson, Andrew Campbell; and son-in-law, Tim Campbell.

Virgie Anne Koehn  |1942-2022|  

Florence Eleanor Hamm was born November 9th, 1927, to Edward and Bertha (Hill) Hamm.&nbsp; She was saved and baptized at the age of 10 at the Durham Baptist Church.&nbsp; She attended school at Warren School, near Durham, and Hillsboro High School. &nbsp; Florence married Ira Riffel on May 6, 1945, at Durham Baptist Church.&nbsp; Florence and Ira lived on the home place of Isaac and Julia Riffel, and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church after getting married. &nbsp; Florence assisted Ira on the farm and loved driving tractors and hauling the harvest to the elevator.&nbsp; She also drove the school bus for Navarre and Chapman schools for 37 years. She taught scripture memory and Sunday School classes for many years as well.&nbsp; She enjoyed baking for the family, and her fried chicken, coconut cream pie, cinnamon and cherry rolls will forever be a delicious memory!&nbsp;

Together, Ira and Florence raised three children: Norma, Mary, and Rick. They were married for 45 years until his death in February 1990.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In 1995, Florence married Wilbur Hett and moved to Hillsboro at that time.&nbsp; Wilbur passed away in 2014, and Florence then moved to Parkside Apartments in Hillsboro. She remained there until her death and was visited often by family and friends.

Florence was preceded in death by her spouses Ira Riffel and Wilbur Hett, her parents, Edward and Bertha Hamm, and her siblings: Art, Eddie, Elsie (Lawrence), Elma (Klein), Dorothy (Foth), Ted, Delbert, and Duane.&nbsp;

Florence is survived by her three children: Norma Pschigoda (Von), Mary Riffel (Rod), and Rick Riffel (Kim); one brother, Marvin Hamm (Joyce); sisters-in-law Shirley Hamm and Carolyn Hamm; and best friend, LaNorma Kreutziger. She is also survived by eight grandchildren:&nbsp; Robin Webb (Mike), Stacey Tischhauser (Chad), Brennan Riffel (Becky), Megan Soeken (Brice), Mandy Kunkel (Kyle), Matt Riffel, Isaac Riffel (Ashleah), and Alexa Beebe (Brandon), and 23 great-grandchildren:&nbsp; Michaela and Caden Webb; Maddy, Branton, and Peyton Tischhauser; Chelsey Nichols (Ricky), Brett, Abby, and Gabe Riffel; Aubrie, Wesley, Kyra, and Riley Fuchs; Ella and Evie Soeken; Carson, Irie, and Georgia Kunkel; Raef, Reeslyn, and Raelyn Riffel; and Noah and Anna Beebe.&nbsp;

Anyone who knew Florence experienced the warm, caring, supportive, and strong woman that God made her to be.&nbsp; We are thankful for the amount of time we were given with her and are blessed with many loving memories.

Florence Eleanor Riffel Hett  |1927-2022|  

Beryl Ann Stretch was born on August 6, 1935, in Blandford Forum, England, to Harold and Gwendolyn (Wright). Waiting for her at home were Myra, Edna, and Raymond.

Eventually, they moved to Shaftesbury, where she met and married American airman Eugene Steiner on April 20, 1955, at the St Edward, King and Martyr, Catholic Church. They lived in Shaftesbury until the following February, arriving in Durham on Valentine’s Day 1956, leaving behind the English village and joining the bustling Steiner family farm in Durham, Kansas.

Though they grew up thousands of miles apart, Beryl, who grew up during WWII post-war rationing, was well-suited with Gene, who was raised during the Great Depression. When asked later in life, she said she would always remember the horrible smell of the gas masks issued and nearly being evacuated to Australia.

As a child, Beryl discovered a lifelong love of swimming in the English Channel. Both her father and grandfather were bakers, skills passed down that she was famous for within the family; that flair for baking has made its way into her descendants, even as far down as her great-grandchildren. Beryl was also a nursing cadet in The St. John Ambulance Brigade, dedicated to the teaching and practice of first aid and the support of the national emergency response system in England.

In 1957, Roy was born, Perry two years later, Paula in 1965 and Rex in 1966.

In October 1969, with four children under twelve, she became a naturalized American citizen. However, she remained the proper English lady her mother raised and observed teatime daily.

Throughout the course of her life, Beryl received recognition for her needlework and gardening skills; was an avid knitter, including a potholder and Afghan for every grandchild; worked Boots pharmacy in Shaftsbury and the kitchen at Salem Hospital.

Later in life, Beryl enjoyed supporting the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, as well as finding treasures donated by others while working at the Et Cetera shop in Hillsboro.

Beryl was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister Edna, and grandson Ryan. In 2011, after 56 years of marriage, Gene died after a battle with cancer.

She is survived by Roy; Perry &amp; Barb, Amanda (children Tucker &amp; Everett), Eric, Victoria (children Annabelle &amp; Stella); and Paula &amp; Stephen Kieffer, Alyssa, Mariah, Mikayla, Aiden; and Rex, nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides of the pond, and countless friends loved as though they too were family.

Beryl died on January 21, 2022. Rosary will be at Holy Family Parish, St. Mark's Catholic Church Marion Friday October 7th, 2022 from 9:30am - 10:00am with the Memorial Service following at St. Mark's Catholic Church Friday October 7th, 2022 10:00am, with burial following at Pilsen Cemetery.&nbsp;

Beryl Ann Stretch was born on August 6, 1935, in Blandford Forum, England, to Harold and Gwendolyn (Wright). Waiting for her at home were Myra, Edna, and Raymond.Eventually, they moved to Shaftesbury, where she met and married American airman Eugene Steiner on April 20, 1955, at the St Edward, King and Martyr, Catholic Church. They lived in Shaftesbury until the following February, arriving in Durham on Valentine’s Day 1956, leaving behind the English village and joining the bustling Steiner family farm in Durham, Kansas.Though they grew up thousands of miles apart, Beryl, who grew up during WWII post-war rationing, was well-suited with Gene, who was raised during the Great Depression. When asked later in life, she said she would always remember the horrible smell of the gas masks issued and nearly being evacuated to Australia.As a child, Beryl discovered a lifelong love of swimming in the English Channel. Both her father and grandfather were bakers, skills passed down that she was famous for within the family; that flair for baking has made its way into her descendants, even as far down as her great-grandchildren. Beryl was also a nursing cadet in The St. John Ambulance Brigade, dedicated to the teaching and practice of first aid and the support of the national emergency response system in England.In 1957, Roy was born, Perry two years later, Paula in 1965 and Rex in 1966.In October 1969, with four children under twelve, she became a naturalized American citizen. However, she remained the proper English lady her mother raised and observed teatime daily.Throughout the course of her life, Beryl received recognition for her needlework and gardening skills; was an avid knitter, including a potholder and Afghan for every grandchild; worked Boots pharmacy in Shaftsbury and the kitchen at Salem Hospital.Later in life, Beryl enjoyed supporting the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, as well as finding treasures donated by others while working at the Et Cetera shop in Hillsboro.Beryl was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister Edna, and grandson Ryan. In 2011, after 56 years of marriage, Gene died after a battle with cancer.She is survived by Roy; Perry &amp; Barb, Amanda (children Tucker &amp; Everett), Eric, Victoria (children Annabelle &amp; Stella); and Paula &amp; Stephen Kieffer, Alyssa, Mariah, Mikayla, Aiden; and Rex, nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides of the pond, and countless friends loved as though they too were family.Beryl died on January 21, 2022. Kermit Ratzlaff, Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2022, at Parkside Home in Hillsboro at the age of 100.

Kermit was born December 26, 1921, in the Hillsboro Hospital to Jonathan J and Marie Plenert Ratzlaff. In 1928, they moved to the Balko area in the panhandle of Oklahoma, in time for the hardships of the dust bowl. The family was part of the Balko Mennonite Brethren Church, and he was baptized at the age of 12. Kermit was valedictorian at Corn Bible Academy and at Bethany school at Balko.

He enrolled in Tabor College, and here he met Ruth Warkentin. In the fall of 1942, they were engaged, days before he was inducted into Civilian Public Service as a Conscientious Objector, serving in Oregon, Wisconsin, and California. Kermit and Ruth were married in Los Angeles August 11, 1944, and lived in Pasadena, California, for 14 years where they produced 5 children. They spent 4 years in west Los Angeles, and he received his Ph.D. in Zoology from UCLA in 1961.

In 1962, the family moved to Edwardsville, Illinois, where he joined the faculty of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He remained at SIUE until retirement in 1992.

Within a couple years, he and Ruth moved to Hillsboro, Kansas. There he stayed always busy with gardening and volunteering. He immediately joined the Lions’ Club and helped at the Adobe House Museum. He was an active proponent of recycling in Hillsboro. Kermit led the Senior Center board, and his interest in Affordable Housing led him to leadership at Grand Oaks and to working with Habitat for Humanity. Carroll “Kay” “Bobo” Melvin Snell, 91, of Hutchinson, died September 24, 2022, at Hospice House. He was born January 18, 1931, in Hutchinson, to Joseph Marvin and Jessie Ellen (Ryerson) Snell.

Carroll graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949.&nbsp; He joined the United States Army September 1950. In eleven months, he went through the ranks to become Staff Sargent and the unit was returned to state control in 1952. Carroll was recalled to active duty in 1963, for a short time to train in biological and nuclear warfare. He retired from the Army National Guard in 1971, after more than 20 years of service.&nbsp;

Carroll was nicknamed “Kay” while growing up, and later was given the name “Bobo” by his first great-grandson, Austin Mendenhall. From then on this was his new title with family and close friends. Carroll was also known as “Sergeant Snell” in the Army and National Guard, and as “Porter” at the Post Office due to his love of country music.

He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson. Carroll loved serving others, and most importantly, he loved taking care of his family. He enjoyed game night with the family, whether it was playing cards, Dominoes, or Aggravation. Carroll also enjoyed traveling, and loved western books, movies, and art. He was a big KU basketball fan and enjoyed watching them play with his wife, Joyce. Carroll was known for being an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and he made sure his children and grandchildren were fans too.

He was the definition of a servant leader. Carroll and Jody took care of, mentored, housed, and fed countless people; from family and friends, to people they barely knew. He never knew a stranger and would give you the shirt off of his back, then take you shopping for some more. Carroll was also very well known for his jokes. He probably was the inspiration for the term “Dad Jokes!” Carroll loved life and he lived it big. He was loved by so many for many years and will be missed by many. Carroll’s presence was an energy and light that will still shine for a very long time.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

In January 1954, he met the love of his life, Joyce “Jody” Stroup from Agra. Carroll asked her to marry him on the third date and she said no, but they were together every night and every night he proposed for 14 nights until she finally said yes! On her death bed, she confessed to him, that after the first date, she had written to her mother that she had met the man she planned to marry.

In 1954, he started work at the Hutchinson Post Office for 33 years as a clerk carrier and supervisor, retiring in 1986. Carroll and his wife then purchased Hutchinson Book and Bible, which they operated for six years, and he again retired, closing the store in 1992. During this time, he served five years on the Hutchinson Human Relations Commission, one year on the board of Meals on Wheels, as a deacon and then elder at Eastwood Church of Christ, totaling 22 years of service. Not being content to sit around, he worked as Santa at the Hutchinson mall, Miracle Hearing Aids, and Downtown Development, before having a massive stroke in 1998. He was in the hospital for 28 days and spent months in rehab before becoming 85% active again. After his stroke, he and his wife, Joyce, traveled extensively to Arkansas, Colorado, Kentucky, and Missouri, especially to Branson.

Carroll is survived by: daughters, Mary Ellen (Michael) Nowlan of Hutchinson, Theresa (Richard) Walker of Fredonia, and Lori (Jerry) Reed of South Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grand-children, great-great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death: by his parents; wife; son, Mark Snell; son-in-law, Robert Mendenhall; three sisters; and five brothers.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary with Jimie-Wray Mead officiating. Sheryl was born on August 24, 1947, in West Point, NE, the daughter of Robert Edward and Annie Mae (Roberts) Fenske.&nbsp; She graduated from West Point High School.&nbsp; In 1968, Sheryl was united in marriage to William “Bill” Tietz.&nbsp; He died in February 1969.&nbsp; She married Joe Hoffman in November 1970.

Survivors include: two daughters, Jamie Hoffman of McPherson, KS and Jessica Behrens (James) of McPherson; siblings, Lonnie Fenske of Phoenix, AZ and Robert Fenske (Mary Kay) of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, Dezirae Brinck (Jessie), Sierra Behrens, Hayleigh Gagnebin (Jordan), Slade Wiley, Ethan Behrens, Zachary Hoffman, Ava Wilson, and Paityn Behrens; five great-grandchildren, Brookelyn, Weston, Emersyn, Dakota, and Abigail; four nieces &amp; nephews, Chad Fenske, Mike Fenske, Lori Mersch, and Lisa Sullivan; and many extended family and friends.

LeVonne Minear, 97 of McPherson and formerly of Canton, died September 25, 2022 at The Cedars, McPherson. She was a retired registered nurse.

She was born July 9, 1925 in Galva, the daughter of Daniel and Beulah (Waln) Russell. On June 9, 1948 she married Billy B. Minear in Canton. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2011.

She was a member of the McPherson First United Methodist Church and the Canton American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Bruce (Tish) Minear, Colorado Springs, Colorado; two daughters, Nancy Banning, Hutchinson and Jill (Darren) Roller, Canton; a brother, Rex Russell, Mentor; a sister, Carolee Chartier, McPherson; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A grandson, Brian Minear, two brothers, Delton and Marvin Russell and a sister, Yunietta Taylor, preceded her in death.

House.&nbsp; He was born February 21, 1920, in
Inman, the son of George and Ida White Ely.

Gene owned and operated Ely Standard Service, Inman.&nbsp; He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church
of Christ, where he had served on the board.&nbsp;
During his life, he had been a member of the Inman City Council, Inman
Fire Department Board, Pleasant View Home Board, a member of the VFW and
American Legion, and of the Elks Club.&nbsp;
He was an avid fisherman.&nbsp; He
served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII.&nbsp;

On July 30, 1938, he married Miriam Lewis in McPherson. They
were married for 75 years before her passing on December 6, 2013.

Survivors include a son, Gary Ely, Hutchinson; a daughter,
Pamela (Galen) Regehr, McPherson; grandchildren, Russell (Angie) Ely,
Hutchinson, Lowell (Paula) Ely, Inman, Darrell (Dana) Ely, Hutchinson, Kelli
(Lance) Lusk, Hutchinson, Lisa (Darren) Schmidt, El Dorado, and Jodi (Dustin)
Hirsh, Newton; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a
sister, Vada Ambler, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter – in –
law, Betty Ely; a great grandson, Nicholas Regehr Parsons; 4 brothers; and a
sister.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp;

Karen was a 1963 graduate of Centre High School.&nbsp; She worked for the Extension Office in Marion for several years and later as an engineering tech for KDOT.&nbsp; Karen was united in marriage to Robert Ehrlich on June 16, 1979, at the Marion Christian Church where she was an active member.&nbsp; Family was very important to Karen and Bob.&nbsp; She loved her children and grandchildren.&nbsp;

Karen is survived by Mike (Kathy) Ehrlich of Marion, Gary (Diane) Ehrlich of Dodge City, Julie (David) Sellmeyer of Vinita, OK, Sheri Schwab of Raleigh, NC, and Lorie (Alan) Salts of Leawood; grandchildren Sam ( Nyalok Nhial) Ehrlich, Katey ( Derek) Evans, Wyatt (Ricky Acero) Ehrlich, Dr. Codi ( Reuben Jimenez) Ehrlich, M.D., Sam Salts and Shae Salts; great grandchildren Kaimey, Skylar and Archer; sisters Marilyn (Jim) Peterson of Burdick and Kaye ( Lyle Cirkel) Risser of Tecumseh, OK and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Nancy L. Hamilton, 81, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022 at St. Dominic Hospital. She was born on September 15, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Bill and Martha (Randles) Lintecum. Nancy married Fred Clark Hamilton on June 6, 1964 at Prairie Village, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2015. Nancy attended Tufts University in Massachusetts for 1 year then transferred to the University of Kansas where she graduated with a double Masters in History and Political Science. She later went on to earn her Doctorate of Law Degree at the University of Houston. She was a member of St. Thomas Presbyterian Church in Houston. She volunteered for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). She is survived by children, Martha Elizabeth Hamilton of Huntington Beach, California and Fred Colby (KiKi) Hamilton of Houston, Texas; brother, Randy (Jacqueline) Lintecum of Indio, California; sister in-law, Marjorie Buck of Iuka; brother in-law, Vern (Rayna) Taylor of San Antonio, Texas; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Hamilton of Houston, Texas. Virginia Ann Holub, 74, died on September 22, 2022, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

She was born on August 24, 1948, in Sanger, Fresno County, California, the daughter of Charles and Tela (Pendergraft) Cornelius. She attended Newton High School, graduating with the class of 1968. She was protective of her younger sister Alice, and loved playing softball.

Virginia earned her C.N.A. certificate and over the next 21 years would work at Kansas Christian Home and Halstead Hospital.

On December 27, 1978 Virginia was united in marriage to Steve Holub in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The couple would have celebrated 44 wonderful years of marriage this December.

Virginia enjoyed rock and roll, especially Elvis, polka dancing , her grand-children, Indian history, and finding the best deals at garage sales and auctions.

Virginia was always there for others, she spent time as a companion to many on hospice. Many of her children’s friends called her Mom. She found ways to make others laugh, and had an amazing sense of humor. She was always willing to help anyone in need.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Steve Holub; daughters, Ruth Holub and Stephanie (Jeremy) Ashby; grandchildren, Heaven “Ezra” Holub, Trey Tucker, and Calder Ashby; and sister, Alice (Mike) Hovious; and many other dear family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Tela Cornelius &nbsp;and infant sister, Marilyn Sue Cornelius.

Linda “Jewel” Poole, 39, died on September 17, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on December 11, 1982, the daughter of Ralph “Dennis” Stevens and Regina (Langston) DiCharia. Jewel graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in Florida with the class of 2000.

Jewel worked as a manager at Charlie’s restaurant while earning her C.N.A. certificate. She then moved on to work at Asbury Park in memory support while earning her C.M.A. certificate. At the time of her death she was employed at Kidron Bethel Village. She was working on becoming an LPN.

Jewel enjoyed serving God, giving to others, attending church, neighborhood gatherings and going to the women’s encounters. She also enjoyed teaching kids ministry.

On September 21, 2013, Jewel was united in marriage to Jason Poole in Newton. The following year they welcomed their son, Jayden Poole. Jewel was over the moon about becoming a mom, she loved spending time and watching him grow.

Jewel is survived by her husband of 9 years, Jason Poole; son, Jayden Poole; mother, Regina DiCharia; maternal grandmother, Linda Roberts; maternal grandfather, John E. Langston, Sr.; sisters, Denise Click, Crystal Turley, and Kayla Stevens; brothers, Dennis Stevens and Steven Smith; step-mother, Roberta Stevens; husbands parents, Tim and Layna Clark and John and Edwina Poole; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was born in Wichita, to Cheryl&nbsp;(Stotts)&nbsp;Hainlen and Patrick Hanes on October 3, 1979. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita. He attended Wichita South High School and graduated in 1998.&nbsp; In high school Nate was a state qualifying wrestler and member of DECCA.&nbsp; After high school, Nate attended Wichita State University where he joined the Delta Upsilon Fraternity.&nbsp; He had many friends from high school and college that he continued to keep in touch with over the years.&nbsp;

Nate loved being with his sons.&nbsp; They were the light of his life.&nbsp; From watching movies to going out to dinner to having fun at the trampoline park, there was nowhere else Nate wanted to be other than with his sons.&nbsp; Outside of being with his 2 sons, being a manager at Wal-Mart was Nate’s favorite job.&nbsp; He had great relationships with his employees, so much so that they were still visiting him in the hospital and at home until the end.

Nate is preceded in death by his grandfather Curtis Stotts, grandparents Evan &amp; Eldon Hanes, step-father Ray Hainlen and God mother Shirley West.&nbsp;

Kendra Denea Kinkaid, age 43, who loved to be called Mommy by her children and Babe by her spouse.&nbsp;

Kendra was born September 3, 1979 in Wichita, the beautiful daughter of Craig and Vicki Kinkaid.&nbsp; Kendra was a devoted, loving mother to Jayden and Jaxon. Her children were her whole world. The only thing she ever wanted in life was to be a mother.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was raising her children with the love of Jesus and teaching them to love Jesus. That was her prayer, along with her loving spouse Tracy Hess.&nbsp; She always made sure holidays were the best they possibly could be with meals, gifts, and reminders of why we celebrate.&nbsp; Kendra’s love of Christmas, fireworks, camping/campfires, Table Rock Lake and pool time is unmatched. &nbsp;Always working on that tan!!&nbsp; She enjoyed making bracelets and anklets, and she enjoyed sharing them with so many.&nbsp; She will always be remembered for her laugh and giving the best hugs.

Kendra passed away Sunday, September 18th, 2022 suddenly, peacefully in her sleep, at home with her loving family.&nbsp;

Ronald Rhodes passed away on Sept 20,2022,in Wichita. He was in born St Louis, Missouri to Thomas Dudley Rhodes II and Elsie Mae (Clark) Rhodes. He was a life long resident of Park City. He graduated from Leto High School in Tampa, Florida. After graduation he enlisted and served in the United States Army. His love and passion was as a Pastor serving the Lord for 25 years. He also enjoyed fishing, reading and loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded is death by his parents Tom and Elsie Rhodes, brother Thomas Rhodes, sister Patricia Moore and father in law Richard Powers.

Ron is survived by his wife Juli Rhodes, daughter Krysti Rhodes, sons Korey and Korby Rhodes (Tracy), mother in law Genevieve Powers, many other family, church family and friends.

Dan Wesley Gill, 71, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away September 21, 2022, at his home. He was born December 31, 1950, in Sterling, the son of Lex and Doris Marie Frederick Gill. 

Dan was a lifelong Rice County resident. He attended Sterling High School. Dan worked at the Lyons Salt Plant, Locke Stove Foundry and in the oil field. He was a mechanic, whittler and enjoyed tinkering. Dan loved his family and was extremely fond of his nieces and nephews. 

He is survived by his brother, Lance David Gill and wife Vickie of Abilene; sister, Debra Groth and husband Don of Hutchinson; and nieces and nephews, Amanda Gentry of Boise, ID, Katie Perdue of Enterprise, Dustin Huffman of Dayton, OH, Edie Perez of Bartlesville, OK, Emilie Schultz of McPherson, and Andrew Huffman of Bixby, OK. Dan is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Todd Gill; and brother-in-law, David Huffman. 

Private family graveside will be at Sterling Community Cemetery.&nbsp;

Mary was born December 4, 1934 in Munjor, to Aegidius and Clara (Gross) Pfannestiel.&nbsp; She attended Trinity Catholic High School in Hutchinson and graduated in 1952.&nbsp; Mary was a catholic nun and devoted herself to her faith and prayer.&nbsp; She trained at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hutchinson, KS where she met the love of her life, Ralph S. Westgate.&nbsp; They were married on July 2, 1955 in Venice, CA.&nbsp; Ralph and Mary had two children; Mary and Lisa. Mary is survived by her husband, Ralph; her daughters, Mary and husband Ron Gentry of Yorba Linda, CA and Lisa Hoskins and her fiancé Roger Avery of Hutchinson; two grandchildren, Candice and Chris Florence; and one great grandchild, Layla Hershberger.&nbsp; She is preceded by her parents, and five sisters, Freda, Dotty, Velma, Darlene, and Juanita. A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave, Hutchinson, on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Charlotte Banks Summers, 79, died peacefully with her husband and daughters by her side, September 19, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; She was born July 27, 1943, in Great Bend, to Walter Edward and Sylvia Ellen (Witte) Banks.&nbsp;

Charlotte graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961. She attended Oklahoma College for Women before transferring to KU where she studied at both the Lawrence and Medical Center campuses, graduating in 1967 with a degree in biological science and research. &nbsp;Charlotte began her career as a research biologist in the food laboratory at Far-Mar-Co. While her most treasured job was raising her two daughters, Elizabeth and Cady, she also enjoyed keeping active with several part-time positions including Puzzling Maps by Peirce Puzzle Company, the Cosmosphere, and Cranford College. Later, she became District Manager for Manpower Personnel Service, retiring after 20 years in 2015.

Even while working full-time, Charlotte always made time to serve her community. The women’s philanthropic educational organization, P.E.O., was near and dear to her heart. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter BL and served as called upon in many roles.&nbsp; She also served on the Kansas State Chapter Board for six years, including State President from 2000-2001. In 2002, Charlotte was selected for Leadership Hutchinson, an experience she enjoyed very much, that helped her continue to serve Hutchinson and Reno County. During retirement, Charlotte served on several boards, including the Hutchinson Town Club and as President of the Hutchinson Art Center during its remodel.&nbsp; After the Lair White House was opened in 2014, Charlotte managed the Kansas State Fair Museum. The theme for the exhibits was changed each year, requiring countless hours to research, locate artifacts, and assemble the displays. Charlotte was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church and served on the Altar Guild.

Even with all these activities, Charlotte still made time for friendships, hobbies, and being a loving wife and Nana.&nbsp; She was a dedicated friend and loved writing witty poems to celebrate her friends and family.&nbsp; Charlotte enjoyed traveling and keeping her mind active with bridge and book clubs. When she was younger, she enjoyed sailing and snow skiing with her husband.

On December 28, 1967, Charlotte married Robert Charles “Bob” Summers, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared nearly 55 years of marriage.

Charlotte is survived by: her husband, Bob of Hutchinson; daughters, Elizabeth Summers Hunt (Paul) of Waterford, MI, Cady Summers Panetta (Michael) of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Sydney and Evan Hunt, Sylvia and Nicholas Panetta; sister, Mary Banks Hitchcock (Charles) of Mission Viejo, CA; brother, Thurston Banks (Linda) of Cookeville, TN; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Grace Episcopal Church, 2 Hyde Park Drive, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. J. Ted Blakley officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.&nbsp; Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. &nbsp;at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp; &nbsp;The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;
