Karlene Pauls, 81, of Hutchinson, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Legend of Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born June 3, 1941 in Hutchinson, the daughter of John F. and Marie A. (Ediger) Regier.

She was united in marriage to Allen Ray Pauls on April 23, 1961 in Buhler.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on January 23, 2021.

Karlene and Allen shared similar passions in life.&nbsp; They worked their day jobs and dedicated their evenings farming together. Karlene and Allen were very active at Bethel Mennonite Church and later in their life, Journey Mennonite Church. One of their greatest ministries was singing in the Praise IV quartet.&nbsp; Karlene and Allen were together in everything they did.

Karlene’s heart led her to serve others.&nbsp; She shared her faith and made friends in a matter of minutes.&nbsp; The family has no idea how many hearts Karlene has touched over the years.

She worked at Pleasant View Home in Inman for many years, but the job she cherished the most was taking care of her family.

Karlene is survived by her son, Gary (Shannon) Pauls of Hutchinson; daughter, Diane “De” (Mike) Burgan of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Rich of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Marie Regier; husband, Allen Pauls; and two sisters, Karen Gehring and Norma Jean Regier.

Cremation is planned with a private family burial at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Arlen L. Dick died August 7, 2022 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler.&nbsp; He was born September 1, 1931 at Burrton, to William T. and Elizabeth (Regier) Dick.&nbsp; He was a member of Buhler Mennonite Church.

Arlen graduated from Buhler High School in 1949.&nbsp; He then began farming which was a life-long passion.&nbsp; Farming “out west” near Cimarron, KS was his favorite place to be.&nbsp; He enjoyed coffee time at the Buhler café, swapping farm stories.

On February 7, 1965, he married Dorothy Krehbiel in Kingman, and they had two sons.&nbsp; He is survived by his wife; sons, Russell (Melaney), and Todd; grandsons, Nate and Ethan; and sister, Joyce (Charlie) Watkins.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Milton.

Kenneth Leroy Hanson Sr., age 83, of Randolph, passed away Saturday August 6, 2022, at the Salina Regional Health Center.

He was born on March 25, 1939, in Manhattan, the son of Kenneth and Leona (Jensen) Hanson.&nbsp; He graduated from old Randolph High School in 1957.

On June 1, 1958, in Salem, Missouri, he married Bonnie Jean Burkman.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

Kenneth graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University with a teaching degree and began his career at Lewis, Kansas, for two years, Randolph for two years and then Logan, Kansas for 27 years.&nbsp; During this time, he earned his master’s degree from Fort Hays State University.&nbsp; In 1997, he returned to Blue Valley to become the Middle and High School principal, retiring in 2004.&nbsp; Following his retirement, he continued to substitute teach and drive a school bus until he turned 80.

He was a member of the Alert Covenant Church and enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.&nbsp; During his many years of teaching and coaching, he made a positive impact on many of his students and athletes.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Kenneth Hanson Jr. and wife Debbie of Salina, Christine Marshall and husband Cullen of Solomon, John Hanson and wife Lee Ann of Baldwin City and Julie Weidenhaft and husband Brandon of Hays; three brothers, Melvin Hanson of Hutchinson, Gene Hanson of El Dorado and Steve Hanson of Manhattan; two sisters, Shirley O’Quinn of Bartow, Florida and Wanda Murphy of Milwaukie, Oregon; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sons, Stephen and Karl Hanson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Alert Covenant Church with Pastor Dwight Diller officiating.&nbsp; The family encourages all in attendance to wear clothing from their favorite sports team.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Randolph Fancy Creek Cemetery.

Dean Edward Dellinger (84), passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Bucyrus, to Marie Helen (Byerley) Dellinger and Charles Ashba Dellinger.&nbsp;

He grew up in Bucyrus and graduated from Louisburg High School. He attended Emporia State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education.&nbsp; Following graduation in 1960, he was hired by the Valley Center School District and began his 35-year career.&nbsp; Dean met Judith Ann Brown at a Methodist Church conference in Pittsburg, Kansas.&nbsp; They courted and were married June 18, 1961.&nbsp; To their union, two daughters were born.

Dean and Judy made Valley Center their home for over 60 years. They believed in being involved in the community. Dean served his community with his whole heart. He was choir director of the First United Methodist Church for 50 years, served as President of the Historical Society, was a founder and director of the Valley Players, and was Chairman of the Valley Center Centennial Committee. Dean was a part of the development of the Annual Fall Festival Celebration. In the festivals 59-year history, he attended all but one, in person, and enjoyed viewing last year’s parade via facetime. Dean was a 54-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a 41-year member of Eastern Star. He served as a Rainbow Dad for several of the girls in the IORG, Worthy Patron of Valley Center Chapter #237, OES several times, and was honored to serve the Grand Chapter of Kansas with several committee appointments and as Grand Marshal.

During his teaching career, Dean started the Pop Choir that performed all over Kansas and in Dallas, Texas. He directed many musicals, sponsored the Drill Team, National Honor Society, and Senior Class, and had the opportunity to make 18 trips to Europe taking high school students to study the history, culture, and the arts of the various countries they visited. Following his retirement, he continued to support the VC Alumni Association by directing the Alma Mater at the annual banquet.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, sister Vivian, brothers Charles and Carl, and wife Judith.

Dean is survived by daughters Jolene (Jonathan) Maltz and Kim Dellinger, grandsons Cameron and Braden Maltz, sister Margret “Peggy” Haynes, and several nieces, nephews and cousins, other family and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, August 12, and Services will be at 10 am on Saturday, August 13, both held at the First United Methodist Church, 560 N. Park, Valley Center.&nbsp; Graveside will follow at the Valley Center Cemetery, Valley Center.

Roland Inslee, 69, of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Friday, August 5, 2022 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 31, 1953 in Hardtner, the son of Charles Monroe Inslee and Josephine Catherine (Hrencher) Inslee. On July 6, 1987, he married Sherry (Fortune) Inslee in Medicine Lodge. She survives.

Roland was Catholic by faith and attended the First Baptist Church in Medicine Lodge. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Medicine Lodge Township and worked for National Gypsum prior to that. He had many hobbies: fishing, hunting, trapshooting, farming, ranching, and playing cards, specifically pitch and poker. Roland participated in the Peace Treaty Pageant and night show. He also participated in the demo derby at multiple county fairs. This year, he helped his oldest grandson, Trenton, build a car for his first demo derby. Roland was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Amateur Trapshooting Association, and Kansas Trapshooters Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Sherry Inslee of Medicine Lodge, are two daughters, Micah Inslee of Medicine Lodg, Brandi Inslee of Edwardsville; two sons, Josh Smart of Medicine Lodge, Brent (Morgan) Inslee of Goddard; four grandchildren, Trenton Smart, Trey Sanders, Brendon Inslee, and Greyson Inslee; three brothers, Larry (Robin) Inslee of Sharon, Tom (Patsy) Inslee of Medicine Lodge, and Steve (Connie) Inslee of Hutchinson, KS; three sisters, Yvonne (Paul) Harbaugh of Kiowa, Jolene Prestien of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Shirlene Shinliver of Nashville, KS; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Helen Gertrude (Kachelman) Milburn, age 94, passed August 3, 2022 in &nbsp;Winter Park, Florida.

She was born March 26, 1928 to John Theodore and Kathleen Birdie (Schroder) Kachelman in St John. She lived in Winter Park, Florida since the 1960's. She was a graduate of St John High School and attended Kansas State University.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen (George) Morneau, Florida; a son, Robert, Florida; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Jerry Edward Vanlandingham passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Zenda on August 6, 2022. Born in Kingman, Kansas on October 2, 1939 to Palmer “Dick” Vanlandingham and Sylvia Ione Torrance Vanlandingham.

In 1947 Dick and Ione moved their growing family from a farm North of Spivey to the “Home Place” South of Spivey. Jerry attended Grade School in Spivey, High School in Attica and 2 years at Friends University in Wichita.

In 1960 Jerry married Ruth Ann Graber from Zenda and together they raised their 3 children, Moira, Roger and Lisa on the home place. Jerry enjoyed being a farmer and rancher and loved the yearly cattle roundups and continued to rope as late as May this year.&nbsp;&nbsp; Together Jerry and Ruth Ann instilled their work ethic and their love for the ranch life in their children.

In 1987 Jerry and Ruth moved from the ranch to Zenda to help Ruth Ann’s aging parents operate the Zenda Telephone Company.&nbsp; Jerry took over the phone sales, repairs and was instrumental in assisting with the expanding the growing cell phone business.&nbsp;&nbsp; Jerry also assisted Ruth and her folks open the Lumberyard Restaurant and Supper Club in 1993.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jerry loved to operate all types of dirt earth moving equipment and maintained the Chikaskia Township roads for over 38 years.&nbsp;&nbsp; There wasn’t a piece of equipment that he couldn’t run or repair.

Jerry’s non-stop energy and commitment to the community lead him to being the Mayor of Zenda for 30 years and Zenda Fire Chief for 37 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Vanlandingham, Daughters&nbsp; Moira (Mike) Brenneman and Lisa (Ralph) Lilja and&nbsp; Son,&nbsp; Roger (Mary)&nbsp; Vanlandingham. Grandchildren:&nbsp;&nbsp; Lauren Greenberg, Sarah Vanlandingham and Carl and Margaret (Maggie) Lilja. Preceding him in death were his parents Dick and Ione and brothers Don, Bruce and Joe.

A Graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, at Nichols Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.

Jerry enjoyed being a farmer and rancher and loved the yearly cattle roundups and continued to rope as late as May this year.&nbsp;&nbsp; Together Jerry and Ruth Ann instilled their work ethic and their love for the ranch life in their children.In 1987 Jerry and Ruth moved from the ranch to Zenda to help Ruth Ann’s aging parents operate the Zenda Telephone Company.&nbsp; Jerry took over the phone sales, repairs and was instrumental in assisting with the expanding the growing cell phone business.&nbsp;&nbsp; Jerry also assisted Ruth and her folks open the Lumberyard Restaurant and Supper Club in 1993.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jerry loved to operate all types of dirt earth moving equipment and maintained the Chikaskia Township roads for over 38 years.&nbsp;&nbsp; There wasn’t a piece of equipment that he couldn’t run or repair.Jerry’s non-stop energy and commitment to the community lead him to being the Mayor of Zenda for 30 years and Zenda Fire Chief for 37 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Vanlandingham, Daughters&nbsp; Moira (Mike) Brenneman and Lisa (Ralph) Lilja and&nbsp; Son,&nbsp; Roger (Mary)&nbsp; Vanlandingham. Alvin Ray Lyon, 85, died August 6, 2022, at Hutchinson Health and Rehab. He was born March 2, 1937, in Sterling, to Roy A. and Ruby M. (Strait) Lyon.

Alvin graduated from Buhler High School in 1957. He served 9 years in the Kansas Army National Guard. Alvin worked for Midwest Iron and Metal for over 30 years and then 13 years as a mechanic for the city of Hutchinson until he retired. He loved camping and fishing. Alvin was a member of Countryside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and an usher.

On November 10, 1957, Alvin married Louise Ford, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Betty Dilling (Don) of Pratt, Sheryl Lyon, Dennis Lyon (Stacey), Bob Lyon, and Susan Ratzlaff (Tony) all of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Milton; and a sister, Marilyn Pritchard.

Nancy Kathleen Gay, 77, died August 5, 2022, at her home, with her loving husband, Jim, by her side.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born June 8, 1945, in Valley Falls, to Harold Francis and Katherine (Reeves) Hatfield.&nbsp;

Nancy graduated from Effingham High School, Effingham, and received her bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University.&nbsp; She worked for the Reno County Health Department overseeing child care licensures.&nbsp; Nancy enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends in her home.&nbsp; In addition, she was a quilter and loved making quilts for her children and grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp; Nancy was a devoted wife, mother and grandma who loved spending time with her family.&nbsp;Above all, Nancy’s strong faith in God and love of her Savior was the center of her life and she impacted many around her. She was a member of Wheatland Baptist Church, McPherson where she taught ladies Bible study classes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

On March 4, 1967, she married Jimmie “Jim” Gay, in Lawrence.&nbsp; They shared over 55 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Nancy is survived by:&nbsp; her husband, Jim of Hutchinson; sons, Michael Gay (Valerie) of North Carolina and Timothy Gay (Karesa) of Inman; grandchildren, Emilie, Micah, Anastasia, Seth, Macey, James, and Levi; and brothers, Paul Hatfield (Carol) and Daryl Hatfield (Alice).&nbsp;

Clinton “Charles” Welsh, 92, of Hutchinson, died August 4, 2022, at Hester Care Center. He was born November 16, 1929, in Garnett, to Howard and Hester (Dixon) Welsh.

Charles taught elementary school for many years in California.

He married Rebecca Hayes on February 20, 1965. She passed away September 9, 2002.

On December 11, 2013, he married Harold Sultz, in Desert Hot Springs, California.

Charles is survived by: husband, Harold Sultz, Hutchinson; close friend, Christopher Britton, Hutchinson; and a brother and sister in Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Rebecca Welsh.

Gilbert Harvey Koehn, 79, of Moundridge, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.&nbsp; He was born November 5, 1942 in Halstead, the son of Hermon and Luvina (Smith) Koehn.

Gilbert moved to Moundridge in 2001, and lived there for 20 years.&nbsp; He was a member of the Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Moundridge.

He was united in marriage to Dolores Ann Dyck on April 26, 1963 in Hillsboro.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include his sons, Mark (Cynthia) Koehn of Louisville, GA, Denis (Whitney) Koehn of Halstead, Steve (Vianne) Koehn of Moundridge, and Ed (Melissa) Koehn of Galva; daughters, Cindy (Darrell) Becker of Halstead, and Elsie (Randy) Unruh of Lobelville, TN; 24 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Von) Koehn of El Dorado, Laurel (Nelda) Koehn of Farmington, KY, and Roger (Geneva) Koehn of Burns; and sister-in-law, Arlene Koehn of Burns.

She graduated from Moundridge High School, Moundridge with the class of 1968. Clare was an LPN at McPherson Hospital and The Sterling Village. She loved living on the lake, swimming, caring for stray animals including ducks, geese, and cats, and sitting around a campfire and watching sunsets from her dock. Clare enjoyed listening to music at festivals and concerts, and most of all spending time with her family. 

Clare was married to Dwain Swick. The divorced, however, remained close companions for the remainder of their lives. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2017. She is also preceded in death by her parents. Clare is survived by her daughter, Laura Markley and husband Nathan of Hannibal, MO; and their children, Eliza and Arcadia; three sisters, Carol Thomas and husband Cloyd of Moundridge; Laurel Gugler of Newton; and Elvera Johnson and husband Duane of Topeka; and four stepchildren, Julie VanAmburg and husband Randy of McPherson; Debbie Swick of Overland Park; David Swick and partner Connie Bailey of McPherson; and Gary Swick of Louisville, KY.

Ronald Frank “Ron” Thilgen Sr., 81, of Lyons, passed away August 2, 2022, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born November 8, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. 

Ron has resided in Lyons for the past 28 years, formerly of Federal Heights, Colorado. He worked as a telecommunications subcontractor for twenty years, Lyons Salt Plant as a sewing machine operator for twenty years, retiring in 2012. Following his retirement, he worked for Mike’s Small Engine Repair in Lyons. 

Ron served in the United States Army from July 19, 1966 until August 11, 1967. He was a member of the VFW in Illinois, and the Sterling Bowling League, Sterling. Ron enjoyed wood working, small engine repair and working on cars. 

On May 9, 1967, Ron was united in marriage with Vicki Remley in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2013. He is also preceded in death by his parents. Ron is survived by his son, Ron Thilgen Jr. of McPherson; two daughters, Bridget Wyatt of Lyons, and Debra Bradford and Rick Rutherford of Longmont, CO; daughter-in-law, Kayla Thilgen of Lyons; five grandchildren, Brittany Rawson and husband Nicholas of Lyons, Mikey Graham of Lyons, Jennifer Bradford of Longmont, CO; Crystal Johnston and husband Nick of Longmont, CO; and Alissa Spears and husband Joshua of Lyons; eight great-grandchildren.

Following his retirement, he worked for Mike’s Small Engine Repair in Lyons. Ron served in the United States Army from July 19, 1966 until August 11, 1967. He was a member of the VFW in Illinois, and the Sterling Bowling League, Sterling. Ron enjoyed wood working, small engine repair and working on cars. On May 9, 1967, Ron was united in marriage with Vicki Remley in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2013. He is also preceded in death by his parents. Ron is survived by his son, Ron Thilgen Jr. of McPherson; two daughters, Bridget Wyatt of Lyons, and Debra Bradford and Rick Rutherford of Longmont, CO; daughter-in-law, Kayla Thilgen of Lyons; five grandchildren, Brittany Rawson and husband Nicholas of Lyons, Mikey Graham of Lyons, Jennifer Bradford of Longmont, CO; Crystal Johnston and husband Nick of Longmont, CO; and Alissa Spears and husband Joshua of Lyons; eight great-grandchildren. William ’Bill’ Thomas Harner, 89, passed away August 3, 2022, at his home.&nbsp; He was born November 1, 1932, in Hanover, PA, to Emma Harner.

Bill was a 1951 graduate of Red Lion High School, Red Lion, PA, and a 1959 graduate of Kansas State University, Manhattan.&nbsp; He served in the United States Navy from June 1951 to June 1955.&nbsp; Bill was the Advertising Director at the Hutchinson News, retiring with over 25 years of service.&nbsp; He was a member of the Hutchinson Rotary Club, Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce, and Highlands Country Club.

To say Bill enjoyed playing golf was an understatement.&nbsp; His obsession with golf was well known, since many of his advertising connections and business transactions were conducted on the golf course.

On July 1, 1960, Bill married Elizabeth Nell Prater, in Topeka.&nbsp; They shared over 62 years of marriage.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Elizabeth Harner of Hutchinson; children, Pamela (Harv) Monroe of Blue Springs, MO; Ron Harner of Hutchinson; and Darin (Paula) Harner of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Nathan (Krista) Treaster, Bryce Harner, Logan (Maddy) Harner, and Bailey Harner; great-grandchildren, Emma Treaster, Ryerson Treaster, Leo Harner, and Piper Harner; and twin brother, Bob (Muriel) Harner.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Barbara Hoskinson.

Harve Bernard Johnson, 84, died peacefully August 3, 2022, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson, with his devoted wife by his side. &nbsp;He was born November 25, 1937, in Great Bend, to Clarence Harve and Bernadine Gertrude (Ericks) Johnson.

Harve graduated from Great Bend High School in 1955, Sterling College in 1965, and received his masters degree from Wichita State University.&nbsp; After high school, he served in the United States Army Reserves for nine years.&nbsp; Harve then began teaching math, retiring from USD 308.&nbsp; He was a member of Modern Woodmen, Hutchinson Area Retired Teachers Association, a lifetime member of the National Education Association, Sterling-Lyons American Legion Auxiliary Post 128, and Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Harve enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends in their Colorado cabin.

On January 19, 1957, he married Roberta Ann Foree, in Great Bend.&nbsp; They shared over 65 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Harve is survived by: his wife, Roberta of Hutchinson; sons, Harve B. Johnson, Jr. (Lori) of Lenexa and Michael S. Johnson (Cherie) of Huntington Beach, CA; sister, Nina Reed of Soldier; sister-in-law, Jolene Johnson of Great Bend; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; brother, Clarence Johnson; and sister Patricia Evers.

Survivors include: son, Mark (Kelly) Penner of Peabody; daughter, Kathryn McMillen of Hillsboro; brother; Jim Kittrell of Massachusetts; Virginia Lesieur of Maine; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Rev. Ben K. Friesen, 94, entered his eternal home on August 5, 2022, at his residence after a brief health battle. He was born December 14, 1927, in Mountain Lake, MN, the fifth child of John and Katie (Rahn) Friesen.

Ben graduated from Mountain Lake Public School in 1946. He went on to get his T.H.B. from Grace Bible Institute in 1948, his B.A. and Teaching Certificate from Bethel College in Newton in 1956, and received his Master’s Degree from Oklahoma State University.

Ben served several churches in the Mennonite General Conference and was a school teacher and administrator for several years in Oklahoma and Kansas.

On June 9, 1949, he married Ann Schrag, in Pretty Prairie. After 45 wonderful years of marriage, she preceded him in death on August 16, 1994. He went on to marry RaeVella Giddens on September 17, 1995. She also preceded him in death on March 22, 2018.

Survivors include: his two children, Larry Friesen of Oklahoma City and Judy Wood of Ewa Beach, HI; three grandchildren, Kristen Tomlinson, Anna Wood, and Rebekah Wood; six brothers, Art (Maralyn), Harold (Elzora), Ernest (Debbie), Marvin (Janice), and Elvin (Sherry) Friesen; two sisters-in-law, Roselyn and Elna Friesen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; five brothers, Gerhard, Orlando (Delores), Jacob (Ardith), John, and Erwin (Janet) Friesen; three sisters, Tina Friesen in infancy, Helen (Harry) Regehr, and Olga (Glenn) Schmidt.

A celebration of his life will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in North Inman Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.

Phyllis C. Randels, 87, of Sharon, died Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Attica Long Term Care, Attica. She was born on February 18, 1935 in Tonkawa, OK, the daughter of Floyd Sr. and Hettie May (Gregory) Wood. On July 24, 1965 she married Robert Randels in Medicine Lodge. He survives. Phyllis was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, the St. Boniface Altar Society, the Sharon Ladies Card Club and the Sharon Bowlers. Phyllis lived for her family. She was the ultimate caregiver for her husband of 57 years down to her great grandchildren. Even into her 80’s she was still cooking huge meals for family gatherings and babysitting grands and great grands! She loved attending all activities of her children and grands and was one of the loudest fans in the crowd. Phyllis also treasured her girl trips and fun with her dearest friends and her sister Lila. She was an avid bowler, card player and bingo enthusiast. There was rarely a family get together that mom/grandma wasn't the last one up still ready to socialize with any of us who could keep up with her. Surviving in addition to her husband, Robert Randels of Sharon, are six children, Brenda (Randy) Slabaugh of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Steve (Edsy) Randels of Cortez, Co; Becky (Steve) Catlin of Medicine Lodge; Toni (Monte) Thom of Medicine Lodge; Jay (Jodie) Randels of Alva, OK; and Casey (Brandee) Randels of Medicine Lodge; 21 grandchildren, Lindsay Ritter, Logan Fuller, Lyvia Fredrick, Landon Fuller, Parker Randels, Payton Montano, Payley Randels, Alex Collins, Colt Catlin, Taylor Rucker, Kristine Landwehr, Herbie Landwehr, Heath Landwehr, Micah Waggoner, Riley Thom, Blake Randels, Brooke Randels, Brock Randels, Garrett Randels, Emma Randels and Derrek Randels; 19 great-grandchildren; Siblings, Jerry Wood, Floyd Wood, Jr, and Lila Sattre Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, a Granddaughter Kelli Gates, siblings Gene Wood, Charles Wood, Paul Wood and Warren Wood. Rosary/vigil service will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon, KS with Father Emmanuel Kosikumah presiding. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Sharon, KS with a luncheon at the St Boniface Hall to follow and greet the family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mary S. Rintoul, 67, of Hutchinson, died April 14, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born March 15, 1955, in Garden City, to David and Mildred (Heinemann) Rintoul.

Mary graduated from Garden City High School in 1973, and from journalism school at Kansas University in 1977. Following her graduation from KU, she was the sports reporter for the Ellsworth Reporter and began working for the Hutchinson News in 1985, retiring as Managing Editor after 30 years. Mary loved to play bridge and Scrabble. She also interviewed the residents and compiled a newsletter for her senior community at Legend of Hutchinson.

Mary was known for her quick wit and her insightful, sometimes acerbic, writings about human beings and the institutions that they have created. She was serious, thorough, and lived up to the highest standards of journalism in her work at both the Ellsworth Reporter and the Hutchinson News.&nbsp; 

Mary is survived by her son, Max Rintoul, Dallas, TX; sisters, Helen Wells (Al), Hutchinson, Anne Rintoul, Hutchinson, Janet Young (John), Grand Junction, CO; brothers, David Rintoul (Elizabeth Dodd), Manhattan, John Rintoul (Betty), Carrboro, North Carolina; and many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom invite Mary’s friends, relatives and former co-workers to join them in a Celebration of her Life to be held at the Hutchinson Cosmosphere, 1100 N. Plum, Hutchinson, on Saturday, August 13, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. In honor of Mary’s Jayhawk status, KU attire is encouraged!

A Memory Book will be available for attendees to record memories of their time with Mary.&nbsp;&nbsp;
