Ernest Kenneth (Kenny) Jones, Jr, passed away March 2, 2025, at Diversicare-Hutchinson.  He was born August 15, 1931, to Ernest Kenneth and Opal Ilah Cook Jones in Neodesha, KS.

Kenny graduated from Neodesha High School in 1950. He farmed with his father and eventually joined the Army National Guard.  He served a tour of duty in Korea. After being honorably discharged, Kenny enrolled in the Milford Trade School in Milford, NE, to study diesel mechanics.

On September 1, 1956, he married Ruth Ann Hansen in Friend, NE.  They were married for over 68 years.  To this union were added two sons- Terry Brice and Tony Michael.

Kenny worked for the City of Neodesha’s water department and later for its power plant for nine years.  When the family moved to Hutchinson, he worked for Kansas Power and Light from which he retired after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his: wife, Ruth; son, Tony (Gena) of Olathe; and two grandsons, Andrew Jorgen Jones of Brooktondale, NY and Trevor Christian Jones of Emporia, KS.  He was preceded in death by his: parents, infant brother, Darrel; and son, Terry Jones.

There will be a Memorial Service Friday March 7, 2025 at 2 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church- Hutchinson with Rev. Dr. Kim Biery officiating. There will be a private family inurnment.

Henry J. Yoder, 77, of Hutchinson, went to be with the Lord February 28, 2025, at his residence. He was born May 16, 1947, in Hutchinson, to Jacob and Barbara (Nisly) Yoder.

On July 24, 1966, he married Velma Miller. They shared nearly 59 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Henry began his auto body career at A.D. Rayl Motor Company. He then worked at Elys GMC which was a major inspiration for him to start his own company. Henry and his brother, Ernest, started Quality Body Shop in December 1974. He built his business on integrity, and he enjoyed fixing vehicles until he retired.&nbsp;

Henry and Velma were one of the three founding families of Maranatha Church and stayed heavily involved over the years. Henry loved the Lord and deeply loved his family. He enjoyed all the outdoors had to offer. His favorite hobbies included fishing and hunting. In his retirement, he had a pond dug and stocked with fish to enjoy with Velma and the family. Henry and Velma spent many hours sitting by the pond, enjoying sunsets and feeding the fish. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and they often joined him fishing much to his delight.&nbsp;

Henry is survived by: beloved wife, Velma Yoder of Hutchinson; children, Holly (Kirby) Miller of Irwin, OH, Don (Luane) Yoder of Hutchinson, Charity (Troy) Meis of Hutchinson; siblings, Bertha (Paul) Miller of Hutchinson, Clara Yoder of Phoenix, AZ, Eli (Clara Ann) Yoder of Hutchinson, Andrew (Jeanie) Yoder of Partridge, Ernest (Irene) Yoder of Hutchinson; sister-in-law Theresa Yoder of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Mikala (Jerry) Troyer, Alissa Miller, Samantha and Emily Yoder, Gabe (Maycee) Meis, Dakota Meis, Gavin Meis, Guinivere Meis of Hutchinson; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Becky Nisly, Elmer Yoder, Verna Yoder, Ivan Yoder, and Esther Yoder; grandson, Josiah Miller; and granddaughters, Sherisa and Desiree Meis.&nbsp;

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025 at Maranatha Church, 3115 Blanchard SW, Hutchinson, with Pastor Paul Nisly officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Maranatha Church.&nbsp;

Harriet Jean “Jeannie” (Mains) Sharp, 86, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. Jean was born August 18, 1938, in Houston, TX, the daughter of Lewis and Ara Virginia (Smith) Gillette. She graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO.

On April 4, 2004, Jean married John E. Sharp in Wichita, KS. They spent 14 happy years together before his passing in 2019. She had a love of the elderly and worked at Terrace Gardens Retirement Community in Wichita, KS as an activity director for 30 years.

Jean is proceeded in death by her parents, and husband, John.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Mains and Kent (Mary) Mains; one brother, Gary (Diana) Gillette; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a niece and 2 nephews, 2 great nephews, and lifelong friend, Carolyn Jeter.

Barbara Rose “Jake” Wilson, 94 passed away on her 73rd wedding anniversary, March 1, 2025. &nbsp;She wished to be with her husband, “Squirrel” on their special day. &nbsp;

Barbara was born in Pratt, Kansas on October 29, 1930 to Maude and Bill Jacob. &nbsp;She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Pratt High School, in Pratt, Kansas. &nbsp;Following high school, she attended Mercy School of Nursing in Hutchinson, Kansas at the age of 17. &nbsp;

Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Earnest Wilson on March 1, 1952. &nbsp;They had two children, D. Craig Wilson and Barbara “Jeanne” Trezise.

Barbara was a dedicated orthopedic nurse for 42 years working for John Jarrott, MD. &nbsp;During that time, they traveled throughout western Kansas visiting and caring for patients at crippled children’s clinics during the polio epidemic.&nbsp;

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Earnest, sisters, Jean Ann and Collette and brother Gregory. She is survived by her two children Dr. Craig (Vicki) Wilson, Jeanne (Greg Garcia) Trezise; Grandchildren Rayne (Toby White) Templeton, Haley (Rob) Gandy, Matthew Wilson, Nicholas (Kerry) Wilson, Nate (Jenny) Downey, Megan (Dan) Nies, Scotty (Karena) Downey; Great-Grandchildren Walter and Steven Wilson, Cypress White, Wulff and Harlan Gandy, Robby and Liam Downey, and Lincoln and Jackson Nies; Brothers, &nbsp;Larry (Nancy) Jacob, Jerry (Arlene) Jacob, Phil (Carol) Jacob; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billie Ray Dowers, 85, of Hutchinson, passed away Feb. 28, 2025, at his home as was his wish, surrounded by loved ones in the home that he built almost 50 years ago. He was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Waynoka, OK, to Ray and Bessie (Littrell) Dowers, and was an only child.

Billie moved to Hutchinson in 1951 and graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College, and McPherson College with a degree in education. Billie quickly discovered that a career indoors at the chalkboard was not his path, so he started Dowers Tractor Service. Billie always preferred working outdoors - at first with his father, and then with his children. A well-known fixture in the community and often seen driving a tractor all over town, Billie was a skilled craftsman doing dirt work and planting residential and commercial lawns. He also did contractor work including removing snow from many of the city’s businesses and parking lots.

Billie was a caring and generous man, often providing a hand to those who needed it most. He lived a full and active life to the end of his days, still going to work every day and enjoying pastimes like fishing, antiquing, and Sunday drives in the country. Billie’s collection of cars and tractors – both real and models – was to be envied, including a Model A Ford, 55 Chevy, 57 Chevy, 64 Chevy, and a vintage Cadillac. He had antique, restored tractors as well, which included the same model he learned to drive as a teen.

Billie met the love of his life on a double date to the movies in 1961. He and Connie Sue Doty married two years later and celebrated 58 years of marriage before her passing in 2022.

Billie is survived by: his daughter, Tammie Cox (Brian) of Lee’s Summit, MO; sons, Terry (Pam Shirley), Randy (Amy), Ricky (Lacy), all of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Connie.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery.

Donald Grover Gress, 75, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away onFebruary 26, 2025, at KU Heart Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Born on March 12, 1949 in Bethel, Kansas, Donald was a husband, father, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susie Bernard Gress, and their son, Samuel Gress. He is also survived by three sisters: Elaine Gress, Bernadette Bunkers, and Rosemary Gress, all of Excelsior Springs, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donald was the owner of Don’s Drywall and Construction and worked alongside his wife in running Bernard’s Restaurant, Bernard’s Pit Stop at the Kansas State Fair, as well as Catering &amp; Concessions. His strong work ethic and dedication to his family and business will always be remembered. Donald’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Don Gress  | 1949-2025 |

Michael&nbsp;Hadley&nbsp;died Friday, February 21, 2025 at the age of 79 at the Stoneybrook Retirement Center in Manhattan.

Michael&nbsp;was born on December 16, 1945 in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated from Nickerson&nbsp;&nbsp;High School in 1963.&nbsp;&nbsp;He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University, a master’s from Emporia State University, and a doctorate from Kansas State University.&nbsp;

Michael&nbsp;taught English, Speech Communication, Philosophy, Journalism, and Religion courses at a number of locations including Butler County Community College (El Dorado, KS), Northeastern State University (Tahlequah, OK), Kansas State University (Manhattan, KS), Westminster College (Fulton, MO), and the United States Navy.&nbsp;&nbsp;A successful debate coach, he chaired the Speech Department at Westminster College.

Michael&nbsp;was also a talented artist, singer, and author.&nbsp;&nbsp;A long-time resident of Leonardville, KS, in retirement he devoted his time to watching classic movies, listening to and/or reading political commentary, writing, drives through the Flint Hills, and his greenhouse.&nbsp;

Michael&nbsp;married Della Doyle on October 3, 1969.&nbsp;&nbsp;They had one daughter, Heather,&nbsp;&nbsp;born on February 25, 1971.&nbsp;&nbsp;Michael&nbsp;and Della divorced in 1974.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his daughter, Heather.

Michael&nbsp;is survived by two grandchildren:&nbsp;&nbsp;Jordan (Wichita) and Sutter (El Dorado).

No public service is planned.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family will have a private service.

 </figure>Michael&nbsp;Hadley&nbsp;died Friday, February 21, 2025 at the age of 79 at the Stoneybrook Retirement Center in Manhattan.Michael&nbsp;was born on December 16, 1945 in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated from Nickerson&nbsp;&nbsp;High School in 1963.&nbsp;&nbsp;He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University, a master’s from Emporia State University, and a doctorate from Kansas State University.&nbsp;Michael&nbsp;taught English, Speech Communication, Philosophy, Journalism, and Religion courses at a number of locations including Butler County Community College (El Dorado, KS), Northeastern State University (Tahlequah, OK), Kansas State University (Manhattan, KS), Westminster College (Fulton, MO), and the United States Navy.&nbsp;&nbsp;A successful debate coach, he chaired the Speech Department at Westminster College.Michael&nbsp;was also a talented artist, singer, and author.&nbsp;&nbsp;A long-time resident of Leonardville, KS, in retirement he devoted his time to watching classic movies, listening to and/or reading political commentary, writing, drives through the Flint Hills, and his greenhouse.&nbsp;Michael&nbsp;married Della Doyle on October 3, 1969.&nbsp;&nbsp;They had one daughter, Heather,&nbsp;&nbsp;born on February 25, 1971.&nbsp;&nbsp;Michael&nbsp;and Della divorced in 1974.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his daughter, Heather.Michael&nbsp;is survived by two grandchildren:&nbsp;&nbsp;Jordan (Wichita) and Sutter (El Dorado).No public service is planned.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family will have a private service.

Dennis D. “Mule Skinner” Cannon, 76, of Hutchinson, died February 26, 2025, at Reed’s Cove Health and Rehabilitation. He was born November 16, 1948, in Waltham, Massachusetts, to Carl and Thursa (Fox) Cannon.&nbsp;

Dennis graduated from Hutchinson High School. He enjoyed music and was self-taught on the harmonica. Dennis rebuilt a motorcycle and built his own wooden bus, which he lived in. He worked as an independent auto body technician, and loved to paint and work on interiors of vehicles. Dennis had a beloved mule named Jack which he rode around Hutchinson in his younger years. He was an intelligent character with a mind of his own and a heart of gold.&nbsp;

Dennis is survived by: siblings, Ted (Nancy) Cannon of Hutchinson, Chris Cannon of Gunter, TX, Linda (Art) King of Haysville, Lafie Cannon of Hutchinson; ex-wife, Betty Taylor of Derby; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Fred Cannon and Steve Cannon; sister-in-law, Jana D. Cannon.&nbsp;

Memorial Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Deacon Carol Miller officiating. Family will receive friends an hour prior to service. Cremation has taken place.&nbsp;

Friends may sign his memorial book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.&nbsp;

Lowell Kenneth “Ken” Keen Jr., 90, of Hutchinson, died February 25, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society–Hutchinson Village. He was born September 9, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Lowell K. and Winifred M. (Mosher) Keen.

Ken graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952 and the University of Kansas in 1956. He was a beer salesman for over 60 years, starting in high school working for his dad at Central Distributing Company and retiring at age 80 from City Beverage. Ken loved going to the Kansas State Fair - he held the record for longest continuous attendance at the Fair at 85 years - and enjoyed more than his share of caramel apples. Ken cherished time spent with family most and was affectionately known as “Snowflake” to his grandchildren.

On March 1, 1962, he married Catherine J. “Kathy” Waldron, in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 63 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: his daughters, Cynthia Kreul (William) of Richardson, TX, Patty Jenks (Don), Pamela Keen, Amy Keen-Colle (Mark), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Cody Kreul (Nick Lafferty) of Brooklyn, NY, Matthew Keen of Wichita, Zachary Keen (Katlyn) of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Coy and Andi Keen of Hutchinson; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joyce Bowman and Judith Anderson.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March, 3, 2024 at Elliott Chapel. The service will be livestreamed and the link below to view it will be active beginning at 12:45 p.m. the day of the service.

Terrye Lynn Miller, 50, passed away Wednesday, February 26 ,2025 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. Terrye was born May 13, 1974, in Pauls Valley, OK, the daughter of Harvey Allen and Tommye Lynn (Osborne) Daugherty.

Terrye attended Duncan High School, in Duncan, OK. Terrye enjoyed adult coloring, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by so many.

Terrye is proceeded in death by her parents, Harvey and Tommye.

She is survived by one daughter, Heather (K.K.) Miller; one son, Harley Horning; one brother, Billy Osborne; a twin sister, Sherrye (Tim) Scott, and sister, Tina Washington- Davis; a grandson, Kaden Griffith; an

William “Bill” Dean Parkhurst, 94, died February 25, 2025, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born December 12, 1930, in Tryon, Oklahoma, to Euel Ivis and Mable (Miller) Parkhurst.

Bill attended Castleton High School, Castleton, KS. In 1949, he joined the United States Army and bravely fought in the Korean War. He worked for FOY Construction Company, Hutchinson and as a maintenance operator for Grant Township, eventually retiring in 2009.

Bill enjoyed woodworking, dancing, and on early mornings, having coffee with friends. But his absolute favorite thing was, creating memories with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On June 6, 1953, he married Glenda Arlene Harden, in Hutchinson. They shared over 43 years of marriage, prior to her death on September 20, 1996.

Bill is survived by: his children, Rodney (Cheryl) Parkhurst of Buhler; Steve (Madeline) Parkhurst of Halstead; and Marsha (Kevin) Allam of Wichita; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Glenda; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary.

Timothy Roy Oberle, 56, died peacefully surrounded by family on February 25th, 2025 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on August 13th, 1968 in Hutchinson to John and Nadine Oberle. 

Tim graduated Trinity Catholic High School in 1986. He married his high school sweetheart, Shawna L. (King) Oberle, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in South Hutchinson on February 17th, 1989. He worked many years as a mechanic for the local Ford dealership, Jeff O’Neal. He then spent almost 23 years working for Sonoco Paper Mill.

In his free time, Tim was usually found fixing cars (a love he shared with his sons), working on some project Shawna probably started, or spending it with his family — he loved his grandchildren beyond measure — or praying his rosary on his front porch sitting in his rocking chair. He was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord more than anything. He often said that if his cancer would help others find the Lord, then he would rather go on being sick. Tim was a Eucharistic Adorer beginning in 1995 and made regular visits to the Blessed Sacrament all throughout his illness. 

Tim is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shawna; his children Madison (Sam) Nelson of Hutchinson, Joseph (Mackenzie) Oberle of Castle Rock, CO, Brennan (Dallis) Oberle of Hutchinson, and Gunner (Christine) Oberle of Hutchinson; parents, John &amp; Nadine Oberle of South Hutch; siblings Monty (Rowenna) Oberle, Carman (Eric) Turner, Chris (Ling) Oberle; 14 grandchildren; father-in-law Rick King and mother-in-law Kathy King; sister-in-law Brandi (Jason) Mahoney; sister-in-law Jamie Cox , all of Hutchinson; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Lucky (Chuck). 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph “Joe” &amp; Esther Oberle; maternal grandparents, Therman “Bud” and Twyla “Shug” Long; two grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. 

Parish rosary will be Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 at 5:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at 10:00am, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, with Father Eric Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park, Hutchinson. Timothy "Tim" R. Oberle | 1968 - 2025 | 

Geraldine Anita Woodson Triplett was born January 15, 1932, in Hutchinson, KS. She passed away in Hospice House February 24, 2025. Geraldine was a twin, born to James A. and Thelma Woodson, the sixth of eleven children. She graduated from Hutchinson High School. She married Milton Triplett in 1963 in San Diego, CA where they remained until his passing June 30, 2002.

She is survived by her daughter, Allyson Triplett Simmers (Jeff); her sister Galena Mae Crable and her brother, Leland B. Woodson and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, James Frederick, Loyal, Kenneth, Jeffrey, and her twin, Gerald and her sisters, Anna Marie Walker, Joyce Hallums, and Theda Sorenson.

A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Hutchinson Public Library, where she volunteered for many years. They can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 30 e. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.

Patsy Jo Welden, 73, passed away February 20, 2025, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born October 12, 1951, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Ed and Elizabeth Schnitzler Welden Haines. She was a 1969 graduate of Buhler High School and received her RN from Hutchinson Community College. She had worked as an RN for different places in the area, as well as an X-Ray tech. Patsy was a member of the Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Dawn Bilson, Topeka; sisters, Stephanie (David) Chambers and Linda (Mark) Collins, all of Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Laura, Zachariah, Katherine, and Michael.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, a brother, Dale Haines, and a sister, Edna Baker.

She was a 1969 graduate of Buhler High School and received her RN from Hutchinson Community College. She had worked as an RN for different places in the area, as well as an X-Ray tech. Shirley Sue Frank Murphy, 90, formerly of Hutchinson, died February 23, 2025, at Homestead of Eudora. She was born December 9, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Barney Garrett and Selma Ora (Bekker) Cole.

Shirley graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952. She attended Hutchinson Community Junior College, and graduated from Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. Shirley was an administrative assistant for the Board of Education prior to becoming a teacher. She taught accounting, shorthand, marketing, typing, general business and computer application at Hutchinson High School and was instrumental in starting Hutch High Alternate School. &nbsp;She taught at HHS for almost 25 years. Shirley and her husband Pat were co-founders of the Hutchinson Watersports Club, and spent most of their time at the lake. Shirley always had a passion for volunteering. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, PTA President, at the Hospital Auxiliary and other organizations in Hutchinson. Shirley was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and P.E.O. Chapter D.

On January 6, 1952, she married Patrick P. Frank, in Hutchinson. They shared over 46 years of marriage, prior to his death on May 13, 1998. On August 30, 2003, she married William J. “Bill” Murphy Jr., together they shared eight years of marriage, prior to his death on July 14, 2012.

Shirley is survived by: her daughter, Cindy (Doug) Lewis of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; daughter in-law, Judy Frank of Basehor; grandchildren, Emily Caplinger of Leavenworth, Kyle (Katie) Frank of Olathe, great grandchildren, Kale, Evan and Dylan Caplinger and Will and Wrenley Frank; sister, Patti Deck of Phoenix, AZ; stepsons, Joe (Donna) Murphy, Mike (Robin) Murphy, their children and grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Patrick Frank and Bill Murphy Jr.; and son, Randall “Randy” Frank.

After 94 years of life, Lucille “Lupe” Vieyra passed away in the presence of family, on February 23, 2025, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born November 15, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Luís and Elvira (Magaña) Martínez. She worked for Eaton Corporation, retiring after 34 years. Lucille took great pride working as a female in a male-dominated industry.

An avid sports enthusiast, Lucille always enjoyed watching her favorite sports, most especially if it was her KU basketball team or her Kansas City Chiefs. Basketball was a particular favorite, and she enjoyed many games at the NJCAA tournament. Another favorite of hers was catching the lively marching bands going down Main Street around the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp;

She enjoyed tending to her yard, sitting outside in her garage chatting with her neighbors, and shopping trips to Goodwill. A lifelong devout Catholic, she served her church community by helping with funeral luncheons at Saint Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Nothing brought her more joy than moments spent with family, like going out to A&amp;W for a root beer, taking family photos, or simply being around each other. Two things she always taught her children were the importance of a clean home and because, Lucille was shaped by the struggles of the Depression, the vital mantra: "If you do not need it, do not buy it!"

Lucille married Genaro “Hank” Vieyra, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, they later divorced. He passed away November 28, 2020.

Survivors include: her children, Cindy Keim, Carolyn (Tim) Powers, and Chris Vieyra; grandchildren, Jon Keim, Joshua Keim, Jeremy Keim, Jenniffer Powers, Robert (Jessica) Powers, Amanda (Michael) Shaffer, and Bradley Vieyra; great-grandchildren, Henry Powers, Charlotte Powers, Jack Powers, Taylie Mehl, and Ryan Shaffer; sister-in-law, Shirley Martinez; bonus family, Cathy and Gayle Johnson and family; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Jack, Joe, Luís and John; sister, Margaret; son-in-law, Steven Keim; grandson-in-law, Christopher Simon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

William Francis “Bill” Pitts, 78, died February 23, 2025, at his home. He was born July 10, 1946, in Wichita, to Willis F. and Betty L. (Morris) Pitts.

Bill graduated from Buhler High School in 1964 and received his pressroom certification in 1968.  He worked as a pressroom foreman for the Hutchinson News and Rockwell/Goss Publishing Company. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, winemaking, and writing poetry.  Above all, he loved his family unconditionally.  Bill was a member of the Pressman Union.

On September 11, 1964, he married Jerrie Ann Davis, in Hutchinson.

Bill is survived by: his wife of almost 61 years, Jerrie of Hutchinson; daughters, Niki Pitts-Silhan (Ed) of Marion, Cynthia Denton (Ray), and Shannon Kirk, all of Hutchinson; siblings, Tom Pitts (Earlene) of Buhler, Janeen Hyson (Kenny) of Haven, Joyce Welch of Temple, TX, Deborah Coral (Luis) of Hutchinson, Sam Pitts (Terry), and Jason Pitts (Jennifer) of Burrton; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; infant son, William F. Pitts, Jr.; granddaughter, Shelby Olson; and a sister, Patricia Turner.

Diana Marie Doerfler, 83, died in her home on February 21, 2025. &nbsp;Diane, as she was known to friends and loved ones, was born April 6, 1941 to parents Paul Joseph and Anna Marie Luea. &nbsp;She was the oldest of 9 siblings, consisting of 6 younger sisters and 2 brothers. &nbsp;She grew up around Ellis, KS, graduating from Ellis High School in 1959.

She married Harold Phillip Doerfler on September 1, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. &nbsp;The couple moved to Hutchinson, KS in 1964. &nbsp;Their oldest daughter, Lucy, was born in 1965. &nbsp;In 1966 they gave birth to their son Paul. &nbsp;Finally, their youngest daughter, Melissa, was born in 1967.

Diane worked at Star Lumber in Hutchinson for over 20 years before retiring. &nbsp;After her retirement she enjoyed working on home improvement projects, assisting her children with theirs as well as getting their help with her own. &nbsp;She also continued gardening for many years, a tradition she carried with her through her childhood growing up on a farm and helping her parents garden after they had moved into Ellis. &nbsp;Diane continued to travel well into her 70s, making her annual migration back home with help from her grandson Dylan, in the later years.

Diane is survived by her siblings, Harold Doerfler – her husband of 63 years, their three children Lucy (Jessee) Tracy of Hutchinson, Paul (Heather) Doerfler of Wichita, and Melissa (Tony) Gray of Hutchinson, 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Lela Elizabeth “Betty” Galloway, 89, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Longleaf Bee Cave, Bee Cave, TX.

Betty was born on August 17, 1935, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Kenneth Jack and Helen (Epperson) Anderson. On October 15, 1988, she married E. Dexter Galloway in Lawrence, KS. They shared 20 years of marriage before Dexter passed way in 2008.

Betty graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1953. She worked for Avco Financial Services as a manager and retired after 20 years of service. She was the past President of Heart of Kansas Quilt Guild and the past President of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America at Emanuel Lutheran Church. She attended and was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dexter Galloway; sister, Jacquelyn Blackwelder; brother, Jack Anderson; granddaughter, Jennifer Spall; and a son-in-law, Matthew Lee.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Melissa Lee and Kim (Joseph) Heinen; a son, Scott (Susie) Evans; eight grandchildren, Marci (Russell) Colliau,, Kirsten (James) Spall, Kyle (Britni) Evans, Alissa (Davis) Tilford, Anna Munn, Travis (Cailie) Evans, Paul (Vanessa) Heinen and Callie Evans; nine great grandchildren, Lauren Colliau, Ryan Colliau, Riley Colliau, Robert Spore, Kierra Simmons, Knox Cutter, Cal Tilford, Demi Evans and Wes Tilford.

She attended and was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, KS.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dexter Galloway; sister, Jacquelyn Blackwelder; brother, Jack Anderson; granddaughter, Jennifer Spall; and a son-in-law, Matthew Lee.Betty is survived by two daughters, Melissa Lee and Kim (Joseph) Heinen; a son, Scott (Susie) Evans; eight grandchildren, Marci (Russell) Colliau,, Kirsten (James) Spall, Kyle (Britni) Evans, Alissa (Davis) Tilford, Anna Munn, Travis (Cailie) Evans, Paul (Vanessa) Heinen and Callie Evans; nine great grandchildren, Lauren Colliau, Ryan Colliau, Riley Colliau, Robert Spore, Kierra Simmons, Knox Cutter, Cal Tilford, Demi Evans and Wes Tilford.

Myrna Beth (Becker) Moorman, 88, died February 20, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born January 2, 1937, in the rural Bushton home of her parents, John Henry and Virgie Blanche (Peterson) Becker. &nbsp;

Myrna attended Rice County Union 4 Grade School and Bushton schools, graduating in 1954 from Bushton Rural High School and Hutchinson Junior College in 1957.

Myrna was employed for 26 years at Hutchinson Community College, in the registrar's office and then as secretary/administrative assistant to the president.

Myrna was a charter member of the Hutchinson Chapter of Sweet Adelines. &nbsp;She belonged to Countryside Baptist Church and served as their adult choir director for fifteen years.

On July 29, 1955, she married Harold Eugene Moorman at Bushton. &nbsp;He died February 25, 2010, after they shared almost 55 years of marriage.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, James, Virgil and Charles; parents-in-law, William L. and Laura C. Moorman; stepfather-in-law, Roy Peterson; sisters-in-law, Fern Newton, Dorothy Becker, and Georgia Becker; brothers-in-law, Bob Newton, Bill Fleming, John Clark, and Neil Thompson; granddaughter, Jessica Castle; and great-grandson, Dane Moorman.

Survivors include: &nbsp;children, Randall (Lorie) of Smithville, MO, Susan (Dan) Castle of Hutchinson, and Patricia (David) Monis of North Chelmsford, MA; sister-in-law, Karen Thompson of Hutchinson; stepbrother-in-law, Don (Barbara) Peterson of Clifton; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Ruben Anthony “Tony” Delgado, 43, formerly of Hutchinson, died unexpectedly after a sudden illness February 17, 2025, at his mother’s home in Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born February 18, 1981, in Mannheim, Germany, to Adella Marie (Murillo) Luna and Louis Placido Delgado, Jr.&nbsp;

Anthony attended Trinity Catholic High School and was self-employed, working in construction. &nbsp;He enjoyed running, boxing, barbequing, and volunteering with the homeless in Kansas City. &nbsp;Above all, Anthony enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. &nbsp;

Erlinda Vieyra, 90, died February 19, 2025, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born April 6, 1934, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Antonio and Lus (Perez) Flores, Sr.

Erlinda graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1953. She worked for the family restaurant, Anchor Inn, and as a paraprofessional for USD 308.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, tending to her garden, playing volleyball, rolling strikes in her bowling league, and leading both boy and girl scouts.

Erlinda was a spiritual and faithful catholic.  She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. She was president of the OLG Women’s Altar Society and a member of their Spanish choir.  

Erlinda poured her heart and soul into her family as a devoted homemaker, earning the title of the world’s best mother and grandmother. Above all, nothing brought her more joy than spending precious time with her family.  

On June 7, 1958, she married Trunkalino Velasquez “Trunkie” Vieyra, in Hutchinson. They shared over 60 years of marriage, prior to his death on June 1, 2019.

Erlinda is survived by: her children, David (Irene) Vieyra, Michael (Kathy) Vieyra, Edward (Marla Booher) Vieyra, Raylene (Mike) Selgrade, Lawrence (Michelle) Vieyra, Barbara Vieyra Luna, and Carolyn (John Dye) Vieyra; siblings, Antonio (Rachel) Flores, Jr., Jane (Santos) Amaya, Dolores “Lola” Flores, Cindy Flores, Rosie Landron, Daniel (Carol) Flores, Larry Flores and his companion Connie Johnson, Gregory (Susan) Flores, Sr.; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Trunkalino “Trunkie” Vieyra; daughter, Felecia “Lisa” Vieyra; sisters, Cruz Marquez and Celsa Flores; and brother, Gary Allen Flores.
