Betty Jane Barchesky, 98, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 8:11 a.m., Monday, March 6, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family in McPherson. Betty was born in McPherson, Kansas on September 22, 1924, a daughter of Oscar Werner and Josephine Marie (Peterson) Nordstrom. Betty attended the McPherson area grade schools and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1942. &nbsp; Betty Jane Nordstrom was united in marriage to Walter John Barchesky on October 24, 1943 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson. Betty and her husband Walter were one of the founding families that started St. Joseph's Catholic School in the 1950's and she was a member of St. Joseph's Altar Society and served her church in other capacities through the years. Through the years Betty was a homemaker, worked as a cashier for C.R. Anthony Company in Salina and McPherson, worked as a office secretary for the McPherson Ice Company, worked in the office of Consumers Cooperative Association of McPherson, and worked 28 years as a secretary for the Dean of Academic Affairs and Administrative office at McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas until she retired in 1990. She also was a member of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary for over 60 years; &nbsp;life member of the V.F.W. Post 2715 Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years; 8-40 Chapeau of Hutchinson, Kansas; Progressive Club for over 50 years. &nbsp; She is survived by her children, Cynthia Barchesky, of McPherson, Kansas and Barbara Hyman and her husband Sam, of Omaha, Nebraska; She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, Leah J. Fowler, Timothy J. McDonald and Tiffany M. Pitchers Emily Munson, Riley Wertz and Morgan Pennycuff limited the Dodge City Conquistadors to a combined three total hits on Wednesday at Fun Valley.

Then Allie Stipsits and Alexis Mastin hit home runs as the No. 18-ranked Hutchinson Community College softball team earned victories of 4-0 and 9-1 over Dodge City in a Jayhawk Conference doubleheader.

Hutchinson improved to 16-5 overall and 5-1 in the KJCCC. The Blue Dragons travel to Great Bend to play Barton on Saturday. Dodge City is now 10-8 and 5-3.

Munson (3-0) earned her third victory of the season, allowing just first- and fourth-inning singles and two walks in five inning of the first game on Wednesday. She had part in a second combined shutout this season.

Hutchinson’s left-handed starter struck out four and only one Dodge City runner reached second base. Munson retired the final five batters she faced in her 13th career victory.

Wertz, who earlier in the day was named the NJCAA Division I Softball National Pitcher of the Week one day after being named KJCCC Pitcher of the Week, earned her fourth save of the season. Over two innings, Wertz retired all six Dodge City batters she faced with four strikeouts. Wertz struck out the side in the seventh inning.

The Blue Dragons had seven hits in the opening game.

Olivia Sandoval got Hutchinson on the board with a two-out RBI double in the third inning to score Ella Dougherty.

After Preslee Irwin walked to lead off the fifth, she stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Sandoval groundout.

The Dragons added some insurance in the sixth when Stipsits launched her first home run of the season, a two-run blast to center, to give Hutchinson a 4-0 lead.

Stipsits led the Blue Dragons going 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Aspen Goetz was 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles. Sandoval had two RBIs, going 1 for 3. Dougherty and pinch hitter Korri Lies had the other Hutchinson hits.

Pennycuff tossed her first career complete game and improved to 5-1 for the season.

She struck out a season-high seven and walked one, allowing just a first-inning run and third-inning single. Pennycuff retired 9 of the final 10 batters she faced, the only exception was a fourth-inning Blue Dragon error.

Pennycuff limited potential trouble to just one run in the opening inning. She allowed a leadoff to Dodge’s Melanie Castro, who stole second and eventually scored on an Addison Spencer sacrifice fly.

The Blue Dragons immediately responded to Dodge City’s first-inning run with five of their own as the first five Hutchinson hitters of the game all reached base and scored.

After Dougherty and Sandoval started the bottom of the first with singles, Madison Grimes and Goetz delivered RBI singles. Mastin then gave the Dragons a 5-1 lead with a three-run home run to left field.

Jaeleigh Darnell’s RBI double and Irwin’s run-scoring single in the third gave the Dragons a 7-1 lead. The Dragons tacked on two more runs in the fourth with a Goetz sacrifice fly and Grimes scored on an error for a 9-1 lead.

ADA, Okla. – East Central University Athletic Director,&nbsp;<a href="https://ecutigers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/matt-cole/566">Matt Cole</a>, announced Wednesday the promotion of&nbsp;<a href="https://ecutigers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/heather-hurt-robben-/1698">Heather Hurt</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;to be the fifth Tiger head women's basketball coach. "I am pleased to name Heather as the head coach of our women's basketball program," Cole said. "She is an established and valued member of our athletic department coaching staff after serving nine seasons as the assistant coach, and I look forward to the great things ahead with her at the helm of the program." Hurt took charge of the program in late December after former head coach, Matt Cole, stepped down to take the position as ECU Director of Athletics. "I am very humbled and thankful to become the next head women's basketball coach at East Central University," Hurt said. "I would like to thank President Godwin and Coach Cole for trusting me to lead this program. I could not be more thankful for the support Coach Cole has given me over the nine years we've worked together." Throughout her time as interim head coach, Hurt led the Tigers to the No. 7 seed in the 2022-23 Great American Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament despite a tough beginning to the season. "We are excited for Coach Hurt and the ECU Program," ECU President Wendell Godwin added. "Taking over at mid-season is never an ideal transition, but she has made the most of the opportunity. Finishing seventh in the conference and making the Great American Tournament was more than was expected in late December, due to injuries and our strength of schedule.&nbsp; In addition to the on-court performance, she leads an amazing group of student athletes who have high academic standing." The Tigers have excelled in the classroom, as three student-athletes received GAC honors for their performance during the 2022-23 season. The women's basketball team has consistently held one of the highest cumulative GPA's among ECU athletic teams. HUTCHINSON, Kan.&nbsp;— The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 73-68 loss to the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Tuesday evening in the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons held a slim 6-4 lead with 7:40 remaining in the first quarter. That would be the only lead HutchCC would have the entire game.

Hutchinson (23-8) trailed 14-7 after the first quarter and then outscored the Red Ravens in the second period to pull within 27-23 at halftime.

Coffeyville (20-12) did most of its damage from behind the arc, knocking down 11-of-21 attempts from deep. Kyleigh Ortiz led the Red Ravens' charge with eight of the made triples to account for a game-high 26 points.

The Blue Dragons tried to make a push in the third quarter, but ultimately went into the final quarter trailing 53-47. Hutchinson pulled within five with under 40 seconds left in the fourth, but Red Raven free throws doomed the Blue Dragons' comeback bid.

HutchCC knocked down 23-of-60 shots for 38 percent, while going 6-of-17 (35 percent) from the three-point line. The Blue Dragons made 16-of-22 (72 percent) free throws, as well.

Coffeyville connected on 22-of-49 (44 percent) shots and 18-of-26 (69 percent) from the charity stripe.&nbsp;

The Blue Dragons were led by Morgan Browning's 16 points. Kali Howard had 13. The Red Ravens were paced by Ortiz, but also received 14 points from Tetona Woods-Blackowl.

The Red Ravens advance to the Region VI semifinal against Dodge City on Friday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the Garvey Center on the Friends University campus.

GREAT BEND, Kan.&nbsp;— The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team wrapped up its season on Tuesday with a 72-68 loss at No. 20 Barton in the Region VI quarterfinal.

The Blue Dragons committed three turnovers in the final minute, which led to a 9-0 Cougar run to end the game and the Blue Dragons' season.

Hutchinson (20-12) jumped out to a red-hot start to grab a nine-point lead with 15:19 in the first half, matching the largest lead the Blue Dragons had for the game. Barton (23-8) kept chipping away and tied the game up at 38 going into halftime.

The Blue Dragons surrendered the lead for the first time early in the second half and were forced to battle from behind. The Cougars on the other hand extended that lead to eight with 15:07 left in the contest.

Hutchinson knocked down 10 three-point shots in the loss. The 19 Blue Dragon turnovers proved costly, resulting in 22 Barton points. The Cougars connected on 56 percent (28-of-50) of their shots, including 13-of-19 (68 percent) from the foul line. Hutchinson shot 41 percent (25-of-61) from the floor, and 8-of-12 (66 percent) from the line.

Aaron Franklin collected his 10th double-double of the season with a 12-point, 14-rebound game to lead the Blue Dragons. Antonio Green and Aaron Potter each added 11 off the bench for HutchCC. Barton had four players in double figures, led by Cougar Downing's 16 points.

The Cougars advance to the Region VI semifinal against Coffeyville. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday inside the Garvey Center at Friends University.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. —  Hutchinson Community College (HutchCC) presents their Spring Forward Concert, featuring the HutchCC Wind Symphony and HutchCC Choral, on March 9.&nbsp;&nbsp;

🏀 KSHSAA Girls State Tournament Pairings

After a 5-1 week and two scintillating games in a national matchup on Saturday with its conference rival, the Hutchinson Community College softball team moved up two spots to 18th in the latest NJCAA Division I Softball Rankings of the season on Monday.

The Blue Dragons swept the Sterling College JV in a pair of run-rule games (12-0, 12-4), swept Colby in the KJCCC opener (9-1, 5-1) and split with the Butler Grizzles, which moved from No. 18 to No. 15 this week.

Aspen Goetz hit a walk-off two-run home run to help Hutchinson defeat Butler 5-4 in Game 1 on Saturday at Fun Valley. The Grizzlies took the second game 6-5 in 10 innings.

The Blue Dragons are now 15-4 overall and 3-1 in the Jayhawk Conference.

Hutchinson is scheduled to play Dodge City on Wednesday at Fun Valley and will travel to Great Bend to play Barton on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons have been ranked in nine consecutive polls dating back to last season.

Grayson remains the No. 1 team in the rankings. Northwest Florida State is no. 2 and Florida SouthWestern is No. 3.

Former Dragon opponents who are ranked are: Murray State, still No. 1 in Division II, Weatherford, receiving votes in Division I and Butler at No. 15.

The Dragon Dolls earned second place in Jazz and fourth in Hip-Hop.

Both teams finished in the top 10 highest scores overall from the day.

Dragon Doll soloists Maggie Strobel and Rubi Rodriguez also finished in the Top 10 out of 20 competitors.

The Spirit Squad will perform these routines again at the Blue Dragon Cheer and Dance Showcase on Saturday, April 1st at the&nbsp;&nbsp;Sports Arena before the group travels to the NCA and NDA College Nationals in Daytona, Florida in April.

June Elnora Greathouse, was born March 18, 1930 in Nekoma, Kansas, to Onie and Nora (Baldwin) Mills. She passed away March 2, 2023, at the age of 92, in Hutchinson, KS.

She attended Nekoma grade school, La Crosse High School and Fort Hays, and was a graduate from Sterling College.

June began her teaching career in 1948 and continued for most of her life. She taught in Yoder and Nickerson Elementary as a kindergarten teacher for 32 years.

She married the love of her life, Jerry Greathouse, on January 29, 1956, in Nekoma KS during a blizzard. They were happily married for 45 years before his passing in 2001.

June is survived by her son, Rick (Valerie Avery) Greathouse, and daughter, Connie (Larry Flores) Johnson, grandson Justin Bright, and great grandchildren, Killian and Sawyer Bright.

She was a member of several local organizations, including Low Vision Group, Elliots Widowers Group and the Horticulture Club. She was a volunteer with RSVP tax, the rec commission and the horticulture club.

Sophomore first baseman Aspen Goetz delivered in the clutch numerous times on Saturday as the No. 20 Hutchinson Community College softball team and No. 17 Butler split a Jayhawk Conference doubleheader at Fun Valley.

Goetz hit a two-run walkoff home run in Game 1 to give the Blue Dragons a come-from-behind 4-3 victory. Goetz then came up big in the seventh inning in Game 2 with an RBI single that scored Olivia Sandoval to force extra innings, but Butler scored three runs in the 10th inning and held off the Blue Dragons for a 6-5 victory in the second game.

The Blue Dragons are 15-4 overall and 3-1 in the Jayhawk Conference. Hutchinson had its nine-game winning streak snapped. Hutchinson plays host to Dodge City at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Fun Valley.

With the Blue Dragons trailing 4-3 in Game 1 entering the seventh inning, Madison Grimes drew a one-out walk. That brought up Goetz, who hit the first pitch over the right-field fence for an opposite-field walkoff two-run home run.

Goetz came up big again the seventh inning of Game 2. Trailing 3-2 with runners at first and second and two out, Goetz lined a single to left field to score Olivia Sandoval and knot the score at 3-all. Down 6-3 in the 10th inning, Goetz singled in the 10th to fuel a two-run rally that pulled the Dragons within one run.

Goetz was 4 for 8 with three RBIs in the doubleheader. Her home run was the fourth of the season for the Blue Dragon first baseman.

Down 1-0 early, the Blue Dragons took a 3-1 lead in the second inning when Sandoval launched a three-run home run to left field in the second inning.

Butler took a 4-3 lead with a three-run fourth inning and the game stayed that way until Goetz hit her walkoff home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Blue Dragons were out-hit 10-3 in Game 1. Preslee Irwin’s single in the sixth inning was the only other Hutchinson hit. Grace Sykora drew three walks in the game.

Riley Wertz (2-0) earned the pitching victory with a season-high 3 2-3 innings of work out of the bullpen. Wertz tied a season high with seven strikeouts. She allowed three hits and one walk. She came into the game with one out in the fourth inning. After giving up a single to the first batter she faced, Wertz got a pair of strikeouts to end the Butler three-run fourth inning.

Emily Munson started in the circle for the Dragons and went three-plus innings. She allowed five hits and three earned runs. Kierstan Weitze pitched one-third of an inning in the fourth inning.

The Blue Dragons racked up 10 hits in the second game, but left 11 runners on base.

Sandoval and Goetz had three hits each, both going 3 for 5. Sandoval had two RBIs and a run scored. Goetz drove in one with one run scored.

Trailing 3-1, the Dragons pulled within one run in the bottom of the fifth when Sandoval singled home Irwin. Goetz then tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with a two-out RBI single to score Sandoval.

🥎 SB: Goetz hits walkoff home run; Dragons split with Butler

TOPEKA, Kan. — Through a bizarre set of circumstances, the Hutchinson Community College women’s 4x800-meter relay team celebrated a national championship on Saturday.

The relay team of freshmen Gracie Lambert, Taylor Hoskinson, Ellie Van Zelfden and Serenity Larson stood atop of the 2023 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships award podium at the Washburn University Indoor Events Center after more than an hour after the event was completed following a series of protests by other relay teams.

The ruling by the Championship Games Committee was that the other teams in the heat – Fort Scott, New Mexico Junior College, Southeastern, South Plains, Mesa and Cloud County – were disqualified for not running the proper amount of laps. Each leg of the relay runs four laps.

The confusion occurred during the third leg of the race.

After two laps by the third-leg runners, the anchor runners for each team were instructed to take their places for the final exchange. With the Blue Dragons running sixth at the time, Van Zelfden recognized she still had one more lap remaining.

While the other teams made their handoffs, Van Zelfden refused to hand the baton to Larson, ran past her and properly completed her final lap before handing off to the Dragon anchor runner.

Larson finished the final lap of her leg as the only runner on the track as the other teams completed the race one lap short of the required 16 laps.

Following more than an hour of discussion and an official protest, the Blue Dragons claimed their first national championship since Adriana Janic won the high jump and pentathlon in 2018 and became the first Blue Dragon relay national champion since the 2005 Distance Medley Relay team won a national title.

Lost in all the confusion was the fact that Lambert, Hoskinson, Van Zelfden and Larson set a school record for the event with a time of 9 minutes, 42.96 seconds. The old record was 9:47.77 set in 1993.

The 4x800 relay wasn’t the only school record to fall on Saturday.

Lambert, running in the finals of the 800 meters, placed ninth but broke the 1993 record of Lori Taney. Lambert posted a school-record time of 2:19.73.

Freshman Maddie Hernandez posted a PR in the high jump on Saturday. Hernandez tied for eighth on Saturday with a career-best clearance of 5-5.25 (1.66m). That ties for the fourth-best high jump mark in Blue Dragon career history.

The Blue Dragons completed the 2023 Indoor Championships with 11.5 points, which was good for 15th place. New Mexico Junior College rolled to the team title with 116 points. Cloud County was second with 84.5 points and South Plains was third with 83.5 points.

The Blue Dragons open the 2023 outdoor season on Saturday, March 25 with the Mark A Phillips invitational in Arkansas City.

TOPEKA, Kan. — Through a bizarre set of circumstances, the Hutchinson Community College women’s 4x800-meter relay team celebrated a national championship on Saturday.The relay team of freshmen Gracie Lambert, Taylor Hoskinson, Ellie Van Zelfden and Serenity Larson stood atop of the 2023 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships award podium at the Washburn University Indoor Events Center after more than an hour after the event was completed following a series of protests by other relay teams.The ruling by the Championship Games Committee was that the other teams in the heat – Fort Scott, New Mexico Junior College, Southeastern, South Plains, Mesa and Cloud County – were disqualified for not running the proper amount of laps. Each leg of the relay runs four laps.The confusion occurred during the third leg of the race.After two laps by the third-leg runners, the anchor runners for each team were instructed to take their places for the final exchange. With the Blue Dragons running sixth at the time, Van Zelfden recognized she still had one more lap remaining.While the other teams made their handoffs, Van Zelfden refused to hand the baton to Larson, ran past her and properly completed her final lap before handing off to the Dragon anchor runner.Larson finished the final lap of her leg as the only runner on the track as the other teams completed the race one lap short of the required 16 laps.Following more than an hour of discussion and an official protest, the Blue Dragons claimed their first national championship since Adriana Janic won the high jump and pentathlon in 2018 and became the first Blue Dragon relay national champion since the 2005 Distance Medley Relay team won a national title.Lost in all the confusion was the fact that Lambert, Hoskinson, Van Zelfden and Larson set a school record for the event with a time of 9 minutes, 42.96 seconds. The old record was 9:47.77 set in 1993.The 4x800 relay wasn’t the only school record to fall on Saturday.Lambert, running in the finals of the 800 meters, placed ninth but broke the 1993 record of Lori Taney. Lambert posted a school-record time of 2:19.73.Freshman Maddie Hernandez posted a PR in the high jump on Saturday. Hernandez tied for eighth on Saturday with a career-best clearance of 5-5.25 (1.66m). That ties for the fourth-best high jump mark in Blue Dragon career history.The Blue Dragons completed the 2023 Indoor Championships with 11.5 points, which was good for 15th place. New Mexico Junior College rolled to the team title with 116 points. Cloud County was second with 84.5 points and South Plains was third with 83.5 points.The Blue Dragons open the 2023 outdoor season on Saturday, March 25 with the Mark A Phillips invitational in Arkansas City.

👟 Dragon 4x800 relay wins a national championship

COFFEYVILLE&nbsp;— The Hutchinson Community College baseball team was one inning away from a series victory over Coffeyville on Saturday, but the Red Ravens rallied in the bottom of the ninth in the final game of the series to sweep a doubleheader at Walter Johnson Park.

The Blue Dragons lost 8-1 and 5-4 in a walkoff for the Ravens on Saturday to split the four-game series 2-2. The Dragons swept Coffeyville 8-7 and 8-2 on Wednesday at Hobart-Detter Field.

The Blue Dragons are now 9-8 as they open conference play next week. The schedule for the Jayhawk West series with Dodge City has been changed. The first two games of the series will be at 1 and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Hobart-Detter Field and the final two games will be on Wednesday at Cavalier Field in Dodge City.

Playing catchup all day long, the Blue Dragons finally took a lead in the top of the ninth when with two on and two out, sophomore Christian Powell laced a two-run double to score Jon Davis and Colin Cymbalista to give Hutchinson a 4-3 lead.

The Blue Dragons weren’t able to hold on in the bottom of the ninth as Coffeyville started its final at-bat with back-to-back walks and a sacrifice bunt. The Dragons were an out away from the victory after Powell threw out a Raven at the plate for the second out. But Carson Schrack laced a walkoff two-run single into left field to end the game.

Reed Scott (1-1) suffered the loss for the Blue Dragons, going 1 2-3 innings. Ethan Giesbrecht threw three shutout innings in his first career start. The Blue Dragon bullpen allowed five hits and five runs, only one earned in six combined innings.

The Blue Dragons were limited to just five hits in the game. Powell was 2 for 3 with two doubles, a sacrifice fly and three RBIs to lead the Blue Dragon offense. Adam Mustow, Jack Gardner and Cymbalista all had hits. Cymbalista had a double.

The Blue Dragons trailed 2-0 after four innings and tied the game in the fifth. Powell lifted a sacrifice fly to left and Blake Bradford had an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.

Sophomore right fielder Will Edmunson went 0 for 4 to snap his hitting streak at 16 games, which ties Brock Schaefer and Ben McLaughlin for the fifth-longest hit streak in team history.

The Blue Dragons had just five hits in the series opener and didn’t score until the sixth inning. By that time the Dragons trailed 6-0

Cooper Wesslund, Edmunson, Davis, and Powell had the Blue Dragon hits. Edmunson tripled up Westlund in the sixth inning to break the shutout.

Coffeyville starter Ricky Hernandez threw a complete game with three strikeouts.

Cole Toureau fell to 0-3 after allowing just one hit, but four runs in 1 1-3 innings. Four Blue Dragon pitchers walked seven and hit two batters.

TOPEKA — Hutchinson Community College sophomore jumper Caleb Manning capped a strong 2023 indoor season by earning second-team All-America honors on Saturday at the 2023 NJCAA Indoor National Championships at the Washburn University Indoor Athletic Facility.

Manning was the highest-placing Blue Dragons at the 2023 Championships with a fourth-place finish in the men’s triple jump on Saturday.

Manning posted personal record with a career-best leap of 49 feet, 5.75 inches (15.08m). That mark was the second-best indoor triple jump in Blue Dragon indoor history.

Manning, who placed 11th on Friday in the long jump, is the highest placing Blue Dragon at the NJCAA Indoor Championships since Teegan Flanagan, who was the national runner-up in the 5,000 meters in 2021.

The Blue Dragons placed 21st in the final team standings with 21 points. South Plains and New Mexico Junior College tied for the men’s team championship with 107 points each. Iowa Western was third with 61 points.

The Blue Dragons had one other athletes competing on Saturday.

Thrower Christopher Brown placed seventh in the weight throw and added two points to the team point total. Brown’s top throw on Saturday was 53 feet, 5.75 inches (16.30m). Brown placed 10th on the shot put on Friday.

The Blue Dragons will open the 2023 outdoor season on Saturday, March 25 at the Mark A Phillips Invitational in Arkansas City.

TOPEKA – Hutchinson Community College sophomore Dimetre Browne placed in the NJCAA Indoor Championship long jump for the second-straight season on Friday at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Center.

Browne placed sixth on Friday with a jump of 24 feet, 1.75 inches to earn third-team All-America honors. Last season, Browne placed eighth in the long jump.

Browne was 11th after the first two jumps in the second flight. He hit a jump to propel him into the finals on his final jump of prelims at 24-11.75. Browne nailed his best jump of the day on the second jump of finals when he went 24-1.75.

Brown scored the only points for the Blue Dragons on Friday. Hutchinson is tied with Vincennes University for 19th after Day 1 with three points. Colby is the men’s team leader after Day 1 with 32 points. Iowa Western and New Mexico Junior College are tied for second with 31 points and South Plains is fourth with 29.

Thrower Christopher Browne placed 10th in the men’s shot put on Friday with a best distance of 49 feet, 9 inches (15.16m).

Sophomore Caleb Manning was 11th in the long jump with a jump of 23-2 (7.06m).

Alexander Holt competed in two events on Friday. He was 12th in the high jump with a clearance of 6-4.25 (1.94m). He placed 16th in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 8.33 seconds.

Darrien Holloway was 19th in the 60-meter hurdles prelims with a time of 8.45 seconds.

Sprinter Ezekiel Seamster was 32nd in the 60-meter preliminaries with a time of 6.94 seconds.

The Blue Dragons have two athletes in action on Saturday in Topeka.

Lambert advanced to the 800-meter finals on Saturday, placing ninth in the preliminaries with a time of 2:22.61.

Freshman distance runner Serenity Larson just missed the podium in the 5,000-meter finals on Friday. Larson finished 10th with a time of 19:01.09.

No Blue Dragon athletes advanced to Saturday’s individual finals.

Freshman Kaylee James placed 13th in the 60-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 9.00 seconds.

Freshman Taylor Hoskinson was 18th in the 1,000-meter prelims with a time of 3:09.45.
