PHILADELPHIA, Pa. &ndash;&nbsp;Despite a Wichita State halftime lead, Temple ran away with it in the third quarter, storming to a 70-51 lead over the Shockers Wednesday evening in The Liacouras Center. &nbsp; Tarriyonna Gray led Temple with 25 points, hitting seven of the Owls' nine threes. Temple scored 23 points off 18 Shocker turnovers, and its bench put up 25 points to Wichita State's zero bench points. &nbsp; Wichita State's&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/princess-anderson/9000" rel="smarttag" rev="9000" data-airgap-id="59">Princess Anderson</a></dfn>&nbsp;recorded her second 20-point performance of the season, and&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/salese-blow/8995" rel="smarttag" rev="8995" data-airgap-id="60">Salese Blow</a></dfn>&nbsp;also finished in double figures with 14.&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/aicha-ndour/9047" rel="smarttag" rev="9047" data-airgap-id="61">Aicha Ndour</a></dfn>&nbsp;led the team in rebounding for the second-straight game with seven. The Owls scored the first five points of the game before Anderson went on an 8-0 run by herself. Temple regained the lead, finishing the quarter on a 13-2 run to go up eight. &nbsp; Wichita State held the Owls scoreless for five minutes in the second quarter, going on a 9-0 run courtesy of a three by&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/taylor-jameson/9003" rel="smarttag" rev="9003" data-airgap-id="64">Taylor Jameson</a></dfn>&nbsp;and three-straight buckets from Blow. Temple hit a three to tie it back up at 25-25, but Anderson responded with a three of her own with 10 seconds left in the half to give the Shockers a three-point lead at the break. &nbsp; It was all Temple in the third quarter as the Owls scored 31 points in the quarter, going on a 19-0 run over four minutes and holding the Shockers to just seven third-period points. Temple shot 5-for-6 from three and forced eight Shocker turnovers to take a commanding 56-35 lead going into the fourth. &nbsp; The Owls scored 16 points off turnovers in the second half, and although the Shockers won the fourth quarter 16-14, it wasn't enough to come back from the third quarter thumping. &nbsp; Wichita State drops to 9-19, 3-12 AAC, and Temple improves to 16-10, 10-5 AAC. The Shockers continue their road trip with a Saturday afternoon matchup with Tulane (15-9, 8-5 AAC) at 2 p.m. in New Orleans, La.</div>

🏀 Shocker women fall at Temple

Following approval at the USD 309 board of education meeting on Tuesday, Parker Bruce has been named the next head coach of the Nickerson High School football team.

Bruce currently serves as the head boys basketball coach for the Panthers.

The 25-year old graduated from Andale High School in 2018 and then played football at Butler Community College and then at Kansas State.

Bruce takes over for Taylor Bauman, who resigned following the season. The Panthers went 1-8 during the 2024 season with its lone win coming against Lyons.&nbsp;

Bauman led the Panthers for three seasons, going 3-24, each season finishing with a 1-8 record.

The last time Nickerson has won more than one game came in the 2019 season, a 4-5 mark. The last Panthers team with a winning record came in 2017, when NHS finished 7-3 under current Hutch High head coach, Mike Vernon.

🏈 Parker Bruce named Nickerson High School head coach

With a 30-point game and a 20-point game on last week's resume, Hutchinson Community College sophomore forward&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wbkb/2024-25/bios/jackson_hailey_q6t6">Hailey Jackson</a>&nbsp;was named the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Player of the Week on Wednesday.

The sophomore from Tulsa, Oklahoma, earned her second national weekly award this season – also winning it on December 18. Jackson has also won three Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week awards in her sophomore season.

Last week Jackson averaged 27.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as No. 8 Hutchinson defeated Garden City and Cloud County.

Against Garden City, Jackson scored a career-high 32 points on 11 of 14 shooting with eight rebounds in a 66-53 road win at Garden City. With that performance, Jackson moved into the Hutchinson Career Scoring Top 10.

Two days later, Jackson had 22 points and nine rebounds to lift the Dragons to a 71-66 home win over Cloud County.

The Blue Dragon sophomore continues to lead the KJCCC in scoring at 18.6 points per game.

BOSTON (AP) — The general manager of the U.S. team in the 4 Nations Face-Off hockey tournament said he would welcome a visit from President Donald Trump to the championship game between the United States and Canada on Thursday night. NHL veteran Bill Guerin said on Fox News that Trump's presence would give a boost to the rivalry between the North American hockey powers. He said the political tension between Canada and the U.S., which caused fans in Montreal to boo "The Star-Spangled Banner" prior to two games last week, ratcheted up the intensity in their fight-filled matchup in the preliminary round.

Tiger Woods has his 'most embarrassing moment' by not knowing the yardage in a TGL match

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Tiger Woods had what he called the most embarrassing moment of his golf career. The 15-time major champion was competing for his Jupiter Links team in a TGL indoor match against New York Golf Club. In singles on the 13th hole, Woods had 199 yards left to the hole. He asked for the yardage and was told 99. Caddies often drop the first number when it's obvious. But apparently it wasn't obvious to Woods. His teammates knew something was wrong, but it was too late. Woods hit a perfectly good wedge 100 yards as his teammates howled with laughter.

No. 23 Kansas' struggles reach low point in 34-point loss to unranked BYU

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Kansas has reached a low point with its uncharacteristic struggles in Big 12 play. The No. 23 Jayhawks lost 91-57 to BYU on Tuesday night, matching their largest margin of defeat in Bill Self's tenure, after previously losing 85-51 to USC in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. It also marked the first time Kansas — the preseason No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll — lost by 30-plus points against an unranked team since the poll began in 1948. The Jayhawks have not led through their last 80 minutes of basketball after also falling to Utah 74-67 on Saturday. They have lost four of six games since the start of February.

Panthers re-sign veteran QB Andy Dalton to a 2-year contract to back up Bryce Young

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers have re-signed quarterback Andy Dalton to a two-year contract, giving them a veteran presence behind starter Bryce Young. The 37-year-old Dalton, who threw for 989 yards with seven touchdowns and six interceptions last season, was set to become an unrestricted free agent next month. Dalton joined the Panthers in 2023 and spent the past two seasons mainly backing up Young, the No. 1 overall pick that year.

Ohtani throws a 2nd bullpen session as he makes his way back to the mound for the Dodgers

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Shohei Ohtani threw his second bullpen session of spring training on Tuesday. That continued the process of his return to the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ohtani had his first bullpen session on Saturday. He hopes to pitch this season for the first time since Aug. 23, 2023, with the Los Angeles Angels. Ohtani underwent elbow surgery that limited him to hitting only last season with the Dodgers. Ohtani won his third MVP award while becoming the first player to join the 50/50 club with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases as the Dodgers won the World Series.

Justin Turner agrees to $6 million, 1-year deal with the Chicago Cubs, AP source says

MESA, Ariz. (AP) — A person with direct knowledge of the situation says Justin Turner has agreed to a $6 million, one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs. The person confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it was pending a physical. The veteran infielder can earn an additional $2.5 million in bonuses. The addition of Turner would give the team some security at third base should Matt Shaw need more seasoning in the minors. The 23-year-old Shaw has been slowed by a left oblique issue in spring training. The 40-year-old Turner also could back up Michael Busch at first base and go into the lineup at designated hitter.

Illinois plays through a demanding stretch with a virus hindering multiple players

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Illinois wasn't showing any hard feelings toward its opponent when it declined to participate in a postgame handshake. As several players deal with a virus, the Fighting Illini just wanted to make sure they didn't spread germs while congratulating Wisconsin after losing 95-74 to the 11th-ranked Badgers on Tuesday night. Illinois remains in good position to earn a fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament bid. The Illini entered Tuesday as a projected No. 6 seed, according to Bracket Matrix. Coach Brad Underwood says he has a good team and the Illini will survive.

Connecticut Sun don't plan on trading Marina Mabrey, who asked to be dealt this month

The Connecticut Sun don't plan on trading guard Marina Mabrey after she asked to be dealt earlier this month. Team president Jennifer Rizzotti told The Associated Press in a phone interview Tuesday night that it wasn't in the franchise's best interest to move Mabrey. Rizzotti says she wants Mabrey on the team and calls her "an easy piece to build around." Mabrey came to Connecticut last summer after asking for a trade from the Chicago Sky just before the All-Star break. She averaged 14.9 points and 3.4 assists in 16 games for the Sun, mostly as a reserve.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Richie Saunders scored 22 points to lead BYU to a 91-57 victory over no. 23 Kansas on Tuesday night.

Trevin Knell added 15 points and Mawot Mag had 13 to help the Cougars (18-8, 9-6 Big 12) get their third straight win. Saunders, Knell, and Mag combined to make 11 3-pointers.

Hunter Dickinson led the Jayhawks with 12 points. Kansas (17-9, 8-7) trailed by as many as 38 points in the second half.

Efficient shooting and relentless defensive pressure powered the Cougars. Mag and Keba Keita each scored a pair of baskets to fuel a 14-2 run that gave BYU a 22-7 lead just seven minutes into the game.

Kansas had a chance to close the gap after BYU went six minutes without scoring a basket. The Jayhawks cut the deficit in half, pulling to 25-17 on a 3-pointer from Rylan Griffin.

The Cougars regained a double-digit lead behind a flurry of 3-pointers. BYU made five 3s over the final 6:15 before halftime, highlighted by back-to-back outside baskets from Saunders and Knell, to extend its lead to 46-26 at the break.

Kansas: The Jayhawks suffered back-to-back losses for the first time this season after committing 15 turnovers and allowing 52% shooting. Kansas’ 34-point defeat tied the biggest defeat under coach Bill Self.

BYU: The Cougars had 15 assists on all 15 of their first half field goals and made 14 3-pointers against the Jayhawks.

Kansas held BYU without a basket for six minutes late in the first half before Mag and Saunders made 3-pointers a minute apart to boost the Cougars’ lead back to double digits.

Kansas has not led through its last 80 minutes of basketball.

Kansas hosts Oklahoma State on Saturday, and BYU is at Arizona.

🏀 No. 23 KU blown out at BYU

After posting his second school record in the 20205 indoor season, Hutchinson Community College sophomore track and field distance runner&nbsp;<a href="https://hutchinson.prestosports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/mangelson_farrin_7y5g">Farrin Mangelson</a>&nbsp;was named the Jayhawk Conference Runner of the Week on Tuesday.

The sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, broke the school record in the men's 3,000 meters on Saturday at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka with a time of 8:19.75. He finished third in the event. Mangelson currently has the best time in the event in Region 6.

Mangelson is also a two-event qualifier for nationals, in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters. The 3,000 school record is the second Blue Dragon record Mangelson has broken this season, also breaking the 5,000 record.

👟 Mangelson named KJCCC Runner of the Week

Coming off a week where she posted a career scoring high and was the leading scorer in two Hutchinson Community College women's basketball victories last week, Blue Dragon sophomore forward&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wbkb/2024-25/bios/jackson_hailey_q6t6">Hailey Jackson</a>&nbsp;was named the Jayhawk Conference Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The sophomore from Tulsa, Oklahoma earned her third conference weekly honor of the season after averaging 27.0 points per game and joined the Blue Dragon career Top 10 scorers in a pair of victories last week.

Jackson averaged 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as number eight Hutchinson defeated Garden City and Cloud County.

Against Garden City, Jackson scored a career-high 32 points on 11-of-14 shooting with eight rebounds in a 66-53 road win at Garden City. With that performance, Jackson moved into the Career Scoring Top 10.

Two days later, Jackson had 22 points and nine rebounds to lift the Dragons to a 71-66 home win over Cloud County and continues to lead the KJCCC in scoring at 18.6 points per game.

Last week was very uneventful in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Rankings in last week's polling period as the Top 11 teams in the poll all remained the same.

That meant the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team remained No. 8 for the second-straight week.

Hutchinson improved to 23-2 overall with victories over Garden City and Cloud County last week. Hutchinson travels to Cowley on Wednesday and plays host to Butler on Saturday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons have been ranked in 186 of the last 208 ranking periods, including the last 27 polls.

Dodge City is the highest-ranked Jayhawk Conference team at No. 7. Coffeyville, winners of 11 games in a row, is now up to No. 16. Butler is receiving votes.

New Mexico Junior College remains No. 1 in the national rankings. Northwest Florida State is No. 3, followed by Chipola at No. 3, Three Rivers at No. 4 and Wabash Valley at No. 5.

The duo of Williams and&nbsp;<a href="https://kuathletics.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/s-mya-nichols/15529" data-airgap-id="83">S'Mya Nichols</a>&nbsp;combined for 14 of Kansas' 17 fourth-quarter points as the Jayhawks outscored UCF 17-11 in the period. WICHITA, Kan. -&nbsp;The honors continue to roll in for Wichita State junior forward&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/corey-washington/9068" rel="smarttag" rev="9068" data-airgap-id="57">Corey Washington</a></dfn>. A day after earning American Player of the Week honors, Washington can now add Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week to his resume. HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Salthawks did not have the anticipated let down that coaches fear after both teams historic wins over both #1 ranked Derby boys and girls teams last Friday. But on Monday Night at the Salthawk Activity Center, both Salthawk teams were red hot with the girls blitzing the Colts 69-18 while the Hutchinson boys were challenged in the first half, but came away with a 75-44 victory.

The Salthawks waisted no time in this one by jumping our to a 24-7 first quarter lead after tailing in the first couple of minutes 3-2 and 6-5, but after that, it was all Salthawks.

Hutch bolted to a 45-9 lead at the half and put up a season high 69 points for the game which included a running clock in the second half.

Four of the Salthawk starters had double-digit nights scoring with the seniors Grace Posh and Kaia Smith each scoring 20 points. Senior Lily Rodriquez followed with her best night of the season with 13, Junior Kohlbie Craft was sensational with 12 points and Junior Ava Krone chipped in 4 but owned the boards all night long.

The Salthawk defense shined by holding Colts to no field goals in both the second and fourth quarter, while only allowing two free throws in both quarters as well.

While it might have taken a little longer, the final results were the same as Hutchinson evened their season record to 8 and 8 with a 75-44 win over the Campus Colts to sweep the season series.

Campus pushed the Salthawks by only trailing by one point after the first quarter 17-16 then 35-32 at the half.

But, the second half was a totally different story as the Salthawks hit the boards hard out rebounding the Colts 38-17 which was the key in allowing the Salthawks to outscore the Colts 40 to 12 in the second half.

Seniors Terrell King and Taishaun Govain each had 17 point nights while super sophomore Lamar Govain scored 20 to lead the Salthawks. Jalen Crable and Levi Kepler each scored 8.

The Colts were led by Jaydon Starbird and Jagger Starbird each with 7 points.

Campus (3-16) travels to Maize on Wednesday and weather permitting, Hutchinson (8-8) has a make-up game at Salina South.

LAWRENCE, Kan. &mdash;&nbsp;Kansas men&apos;s basketball will retire Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Arthur &quot;Dutch&quot; Lonborg&apos;s jersey No. 7 at the Feb. 22 home game against Oklahoma State, Kansas Athletics announced today. &nbsp; Lonborg was a three-sport letterwinner at Kansas in football, basketball and baseball. The Gardner, Illinois, native was a three-time all-conference performer in football (1917-19), twice named all-conference in basketball and was a Helms Foundation All-America First Team selection in basketball in 1919. Lonborg played basketball for Phog Allen while at KU. &nbsp; After graduating from the KU law school, Lonborg coached at McPherson College and Washburn before beginning a 23-year career as coach at Northwestern. At Northwestern, he was instrumental in organizing the first NCAA basketball tournament in 1939. &nbsp; Lonborg returned to KU in 1950 as director of athletics, a position he held for 14 years. During his tenure, the Jayhawks won 38 conference titles and four NCAA crowns, including the 1952 basketball title. Under Lonborg&apos;s guidance, Allen Fieldhouse was built, and Quigley Field (now Hoglund Ballpark) and Memorial Stadium expansion projects were completed. &nbsp; From 1947 to 1960, Lonborg was the chairman of the men&apos;s basketball NCAA Tournament Committee as the tournament grew from an eight-team to a 25-team format. Lonborg also served as president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) in 1935 and managed the U.S. Olympic basketball team in 1960 that won the gold medal in Rome. Lonborg was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1973 as a coach. He died on Jan. 31, 1985, in Horton, Kansas, at the age of 86.</div>

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — JJ Quinerly scored 26 points, Jordan Harrison added 18 points and No. 17 West Virginia best 12th-ranked Kansas State 70-57 on Monday for its 15th straight victory at home.

It was a matchup of the best offense and the best defense in the Big 12 with Kansas State scoring 81.3 points per game and West Virginia allowing just 53.5 ppg.

West Virginia led 57-49 before holding Kansas State to 1-of-10 shooting over the next six minutes to pull away. The Mountaineers made seven straight shots to extend their lead to 70-51.

West Virginia forced Kansas State into a season-high 22 turnovers. The Wildcats shot 39.3% from the field, including 5 of 20 from the 3-point line.

Kyah Watson grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds, to go with four assists, four steals and five points for West Virginia (21-5, 11-4). Jordan Thomas added 11 points.

Temira Poindexter led Kansas State (24-4, 12-3) with 17 points. Zyanna Walker added 12 points.

Harrison scored 10 points in the first half, Quinerly and Thomas each had nine points, and West Virginia led 36-30. Watson also grabbed 11 rebounds.

🏀 No. 17 West Virginia women beat No. 12 K-State

Notre Dame is the new No. 1 in The Associated Press&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-womens-college-basketball-poll">Top 25 women’s basketball poll</a>, ascending to the top spot Monday for the first time since 2019.

The Fighting Irish replaced UCLA, which&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/ucla-loses-26ffd59668faa75503a0c96f6868a77c">lost its first game</a>&nbsp;of the season last week, falling to rival USC, 71-60. Notre Dame was last No. 1 on Jan. 21, 2019.

“It’s definitely an honor to be the nation’s top team, but we are just focused on getting better every day,“ Notre Dame coach Niele Ivey said.

The Irish, who received 16 first-place votes from a 30-member national media panel, faced No. 11 Duke on Monday night.

Texas moved up to second for its best ranking since 2017. The Longhorns, who garnered eight first-place ballots, became the first team to beat three straight top 10 teams since 2004-05, according to ESPN, topping South Carolina, Kentucky and&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/lsu-texas-basketball-score-3a0ddc4a74c546f649e8647612735314">LSU</a>.

<a href="https://apnews.com/article/auburn-alabama-t25-score-7e5522ca5233516cd4ea3eb78e524bc9">Auburn’s win at Alabama</a>&nbsp;assured the Tigers would keep the No. 1 ranking in&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-basketball-poll">The Associated Press Top 25 men’s college basketball poll</a>&nbsp;for a sixth consecutive week.

The Tigers (23-2) received 59 of 60 first-place votes in Monday’s poll, reclaiming nearly all the support lost&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/florida-auburn-t25-score-4d46ac00c735b03b32e810b473b88d56">when they fell at home to Florida on Feb. 8</a>. Auburn had been the unanimous No. 1 for three straight weeks before that loss, but remained at the top last week despite seeing nearly half of those first-place votes go primarily to Alabama, with a few to Florida and Tennessee.

But the Tigers won Saturday in a 1-vs.-2 road matchup against the rival Crimson Tide, hours after the committee that will choose the 68-team field for the NCAA Tournament&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/ncaa-tournament-preliminary-seeds-e9d1ee337bf3af70cff9c81856d878a4">put Auburn as its No. 1 overall seed in its preliminary rankings</a>.

The two teams to beat the Tigers sit right behind them. Florida and Duke were tied for third last week, and the Gators inched past the Blue Devils to break that tie and take the No. 2 spot while claiming the remaining first-place vote.

Alabama fell to No. 4, followed by Houston, Tennessee, Texas A&amp;M — with its highest ranking since December 2017 — Iowa State, Texas Tech and St. John’s to round out the top 10.

Of that group, the Red Raiders represented the only change from last week’s set of teams, climbing three spots to replace Purdue for their first top-10 appearance in three years. Grant McCasland’s squad, which has lost just twice since the start of 2025, was unranked until cracking the poll at No. 22 on Jan. 27.

Michigan had the week’s biggest jump among ranked teams, climbing eight spots to No. 12 after&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/michigan-purdue-score-8f94a3211b6c11b381ff2b0b9c9f720e">beating Purdue last week</a>&nbsp;and pushing its win streak to six games.

No. 15 Missouri jumped six spots, while No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 18 Clemson and No. 20 Maryland each rose five spots.

In all, 12 teams moved up from their position last week.

Memphis took the biggest tumble of the week, falling eight spots to No. 22 after its&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/memphis-wichita-state-score-c19ec37b8498d55f615419d513de2e5f">overtime loss at Wichita State</a>&nbsp;ended an eight-game winning streak.

No. 13 Purdue, No. 19 Arizona and No. 23 Kansas — the preseason No. 1-ranked team — all fell six spots, while No. 24 Mississippi tumbled five.

No. 25 Louisville was the week’s lone new addition, returning to the poll for the second time after a two-week stint in January. First-year coach Pat Kelsey has guided the program to its first 20-win season since 2019-20, with the Cardinals having lost just once since mid-December.

Creighton (No. 24) fell out of the rankings for the second time this season. The Bluejays were ranked for the first four weeks, then returned last week for what turned out to be a one-week stay.

The Southeastern Conference had a national-best nine teams, including three of the top four and five of the top 10. The Big 12 and Big Ten each had five teams, though the Big 12 had three in the top 10 while the highest-ranked Big Ten team checked in at 11th.

The Atlantic Coast Conference had three, followed by the Big East with two and the American Athletic Conference with one.

WICHITA, Kan. -&nbsp;Wichita State junior forward&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/corey-washington/9068" rel="smarttag" rev="9068" data-airgap-id="54">Corey Washington</a></dfn>&nbsp;has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon. In a pair of wins last week, Washington averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds. He started the week with a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double vs. UTSA and closed with another monster double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds in a win over No. 14 Memphis. He has scored 10 or more points in 14 consecutive games and his seven double-doubles this season are second on the team. Washington is the first Shocker to earn American Player of the Week honors since Dexter Dennis on March 8, 2021. Winners of four in a row, Wichita State travels to Boca Raton for a matchup between the two hottest teams in the league Thursday night at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Florida Atlantic has won its last five games entering the matchup.</div>

Va. &ndash;&nbsp;Following a stellar week of play, K-State guard&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/taryn-sides/11857" rel="smarttag" rev="11857">Taryn Sides</a></dfn>&nbsp;collected her first career Big 12 Player of the Week honor in an announcement on Monday. The sophomore from Phillipsburg, Kansas, came off the bench in both games to register 19.0 points on a .571 field goal percentage including a .588 three-point percentage, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks. At Cincinnati on Wednesday, Sides carded her first career double-double with 17 points including a 4-of-10 effort from distance, a career-high 12 rebounds, four assists and a steal in 27 minutes of action. Against UCF on Saturday, Sides registered her second 20-point game of the season with 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including 6-of-7 from 3-point range, six assists, four rebounds, tied her career-high with four steals and set a career-high with two blocks in 28 minutes off the bench. For the season, the 2025 Big 12 Sixth Player of the Year candidate is averaging a career-high 10.2 points on a career-best .484 field goal percentage and a career-best .469 effort from long range. Her three-point percentage ranks second in school history for a season.
