WICHITA, Kan. &mdash; The National Baseball Congress (NBC) is proud to announce the inductees for the 2025 class of the NBC Hall of Fame. The 2025 honorees include legendary players, coaches, and contributors who have impacted the NBC World Series and the game of baseball. David Benson, Alex Gordon, and Phil Stephenson will be inducted into the NBC Hall of Fame in a ceremony on January 30, 2025, at the B-29 Doc Hangar &amp; Education Center in Wichita, Kansas.

David Benson &ndash; One of the most dominant pitchers in NBC World Series history, Benson made 20 appearances for the Seattle Studs in Wichita from 2008 to 2019. With a remarkable 10-3 record and a 2.85 ERA, he holds several NBC records, including most decisions, most starts, and most innings pitched in the modern wood bat era. A three-time NBC World Series Champion and four-time runner-up, as well as a two-time NBCWS All-American, Benson&rsquo;s contributions to the tournament have cemented his legacy as one of the most durable and dependable pitchers to take the mound.

Alex Gordon &ndash; A standout player in the NBC World Series in 2002 for the Beatrice Bruins, Gordon went on to achieve greatness at the collegiate and professional levels. A decorated collegiate player, Gordon won the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy, Golden Spikes Award, and Brooks Wallace Award before being drafted by the Kansas City Royals. Over his MLB career, he won eight Gold Glove Awards, was a key player in the Royals&rsquo; 2015 World Series Championship and was named to three MLB All-Star teams. Gordon was honored as the NBC Graduate of the Year in 2013 and continues to be a role model for young players aspiring to reach the major leagues.

Phil Stephenson &ndash; A multi-faceted contributor to the National Baseball Congress, Stephenson has worn many hats throughout his time with the NBC, including player, coach, general manager, and commissioner. He played for the Alaska Goldpanners and Wichita Alumni teams in the early 1980s before transitioning to coaching and leadership roles. As the manager of the Dodge City A&rsquo;s and later Fairbanks, Stephenson led teams to multiple playoff appearances and helped shape the next generation of NBC talent. He also served as the commissioner of the Jayhawk League and currently manages the Kansas Cannons. In addition to the NBC, Stephenson is well known in baseball for his time at Wichita State, where he hit safely in 47 straight games in 1981 and went on to be drafted in the 3rd round by the Oakland Athletics. He played in four MLB seasons from 1989-1992. His deep commitment to the NBC World Series and the development of amateur baseball makes him a fitting inductee into the Hall of Fame.

The 2025 NBC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be a special evening featuring an appearance by Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith, a former star of the Clarinda A&rsquo;s and the St. Louis Cardinals as well as a 1992 National Baseball Congress Hall of Fame inductee. Smith will share his insights and stories from his legendary career, offering attendees a unique opportunity to hear from one of the game&rsquo;s most iconic figures.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Saquon Barkley ran for touchdowns of 70 and 72 yards in the second half and finished with an Eagles-record 255 yards rushing in the streaking Philadelphia Eagles' seventh consecutive victory, 37-20 over the Los Angeles Rams. Barkley finished with the ninth-most yards rushing in a game in NFL history, largely thanks to his huge TD runs early and late in the second half. He rushed for a 70-yard score on the opening snap of the third quarter, and he added a 72-yard surge up the middle with 2:44 to play. Barkley finished with 302 total yards. He leads the NFL with 1,392 yards rushing.

Sam Darnold leads game-winning drive in OT and Vikings beat Bears 30-27 after blowing late lead

CHICAGO (AP) — Sam Darnold threw for 90 of his 330 yards in overtime to set up Parker Romo's game-ending 29-yard field goal, and the Minnesota Vikings outlasted the Chicago Bears 30-27 after giving up 11 points in the final 22 seconds of regulation. Darnold threw two touchdown passes, Jordan Addison caught eight passes for a career-high 162 yards and a touchdown, and T.J. Hockenson had 114 yards receiving for the Vikings, who remained one game behind Detroit in the rugged NFC North. Caleb Williams threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears, who lost their fifth straight.

And a eagle-birdie finish for the second straight day made it happen. Thitikul claimed the record-setting $4 million first-place check by winning the CME Group Tour Championship on Sunday. It was the biggest money prize in women's golf history. Thitikul shot a 7-under 65 on Sunday and finished the week at 22 under, one shot ahead of Angel Yin (66). Yin had a two-shot lead walking to the 17th tee, only to wind up settling for the $1 million runner-up check.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — All-Stars Paul George and Joel Embiid both missed Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers with knee injuries. Six-time All-Star guard Kyle Lowry also sat out with a bad hip. It's turning into a lost season for the struggling Sixers. The Sixers can only wonder how good they might have been if former stars Ben Simmons and James Harden stayed healthy and happy when they were with the franchise. Both players returned to Philadelphia over the weekend and served as a reminder of how little has changed for the 76ers over the last decade.

College basketball is ready for its Thanksgiving Week closeup. The schedule is full of early season tournaments that could create buzzworthy marquee matchups. And many of those come in warm-weather locations. The Maui Invitational in Hawaii turns 40 years old this year. It opens Monday with a field that includes two-time reigning national champion and second ranked UConn. The Battle 4 Atlantis men's tournament in the Bahamas opens Wednesday. It has a field topped by No. 3 Gonzaga. There are also multiple women's events in the Bahamas featuring ranked teams, including the fourth Atlantis women's tournament.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Max Verstappen won an unbelievable 19 races last season that included an incredible streak of 10 in a row in what would arguably go down as one of the greatest years in Formula 1 history. And yet it is this year's eight-win season — his lowest victory total since 2020 — that Verstappen considers a career-defining campaign. Those eight wins were enough to win him a fourth consecutive F1 championship on Saturday night with his easy drive at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The championship made Verstappen only the sixth driver in F1 history to win four or more titles.

Hutchinson CC Sports Information
A total of 29 Hutchinson Community College football players earned spots in the 2024 All-KJCCC Football teams which were released Sunday.
The Blue Dragons earned two of the three major awards as sophomore running back <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/jordan_jr._waymond_h58l" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Waymond Jordan Jr.</a>, was named the 2024 KJCCC Offensive Player of the Year and Hutchinson head coach Drew Dallas was named the league&apos;s Coach of the Year.
A total of six Hutchinson offensive players, five defensive player and a special teams player were named to the 2024 all-KJCCC first team. Nine other players were named to the second team and eight more were named to the honorable mention list.
The Blue Dragons tied for a Jayhawk Conference championship this season, posting a 9-1 overall record and a 5-1 mark in KJCCC games. The No. 2-ranked Blue Dragons will find out on Monday about the NJCAA National Playoffs.
WAYMOND JORDAN JR. &ndash; OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR The sophomore from Pensacola, Florida, became the 20th Blue Dragon running back to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. Jordan led the nation in rushing this season with 1,331 yards and is tied for second with 18 rushing touchdowns. Jordan averaged 7.6 yards per carry this season.
He had eight games of 100 or more rushing yards. His season high was 213 yards on 24 carries and three touchdowns in a 44-0 victory over Highland on November 9.
Jordan is currently seventh on the Blue Dragon single-season rushing list. His 18 rushing touchdowns are tied with Alvin Kamara (2014) for second on that single-season list. His 7.6 yards per carry ranks second in team single-season history.
Jordan is the fourth-straight Blue Dragon player to earn KJCCC Offensive Player of the Year honors. He joins running back Anwar Lewis in 2021, running back Dylan Kedzior in 2022 and quarterback <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/collier_samari_f7ro" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Samari Collier</a> in 2023. Indirectly, Jordan also joins current teammate <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/prosper_benson_2z8u" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Benson Prosper</a>, who shared Offensive Player of the Year honors with Collier in 2023 when Prosper played at Highland last season.
Jordan was a five-time KJCCC Player of the Week and he was an NJCAA National Player of the Week once in 2024.
DREW DALLAS &ndash; COACH OF THE YEAR This is the fourth time in his tenure at Hutchinson that Dallas has been named the KJCCC Coach of the Year.
The Blue Dragons won at least nine games for a fourth-straight season under Dallas. The only time Hutchinson didn&apos;t win at least nine games was the covid-shortened season in 2020-21 when the Blue Dragons won the national championship going 8-0.
The 2024 Blue Dragons won their fourth conference title under Dallas. The Dragons also won the 2021 KJCCC Playoffs under Dallas, who is 47-5 on the Hutchinson sideline.
Offensively in 2024, the Blue Dragons averaged 45.0 points per game, which was first in the Jayhawk This season. The Dragons led the league in total offense at 473.2 yards per game and were second in the KJCCC in rushing at 265.0 yards per game.
Defensively, the Dragons led the KJCCC in scoring defense at 14.5 points per game with three shutouts. Hutchinson was No. 1 in total defense at 257.9 yards per game and rushing defense at 102.8 yards per game.
FIRST TEAM OFFENSE <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/collier_samari_f7ro" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Samari Collier</a> &ndash; QB: Collier is a two-time first-team all-KJCCC selection. This season I nine games, the sophomore from DeSoto Texas completed 82 of 152 passes (53.9 percent) for 1,163 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. Collier was the second-leading rusher this season with 441 yards on 72 carries and seven touchdowns.
<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/hoover_tate_7wfn" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Tate Hoover</a> &ndash; FB: A tremendous blocker at the fullback spot, the redshirt freshman from Manhattan didn&apos;t have a rush this season, but caught three balls for 102 yards and a touchdown.
<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/brown_tre_1kab" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Tre Brown</a> &ndash; WR: A redshirt freshman from Savannah, Georgia, led the Blue Dragons and the Jayhawk Conference with nine touchdown receptions. Brown had 27 receptions for 500 yards and averaged 18.5 yards per carry.

The sophomore from Walker, Louisiana averaged 16.3 yards per reception.

FIRST TEAM DEFENSE <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/lowe_devan_0k31" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Devan Lowe</a> &ndash; DT: Lowe, a sophomore from Olathe, had 29 total tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss. He had three quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/oxley_marshawn_wp0j" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Marshon Oxley</a> &ndash; DE: A sophomore from South Central California, Oxley led the Blue Dragons with eight quarterback sacks and 10.0 tackles for loss. Oxley had 34 total tackles with six quarterback hurries, one pass broken up, one fumble forced and one fumble recovered.

He had 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 quarterback sacks and three quarterback hurries. Mack also had two interceptions and forced a fumble.

<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/collier_kollin_in9z" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Kollin Collier</a> &ndash; S: The freshman from Cordova, Tennessee led the Blue Dragons with three interceptions, including a return for touchdown. He had 33 total tackles that included 1.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback sack. Collier forced two fumbles and defensive two passes.
FIRST TEAM SPECIAL TEAMS <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/barr_davis_n0ok" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Davis Barr</a> &ndash; P: A freshman punter from DeSoto, Kansas, had only 24 punt attempt this season, but averaged 43.5 yards per punt, including a season&apos;s-long 74 yards punt. He had eight punts of 50 or more yards and had seven others downed inside the 20-yard line.
SECOND TEAM OFFENSE Receiver <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/salley_jr._derrick_hofp" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Derrick Salley Jr.</a>, tight end <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/napoli_jared_2huj" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Jared Napoli</a>, offensive guard <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/williams_jeremiah_bekl" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Jeremiah Williams</a> and center <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/thrush_mason_k5io" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Mason Thrush</a> were named to the second-team offense.
Salley had 19 receptions for 317 yards and five touchdowns. Napoli is a two-team second-team selection at tight end. He had two receptions for 14 yards this season.
Williams and Thrush were part of a Blue Dragon offensive line that helped Hutchinson reach 500 or more yards four times this season.
SECOND TEAM DEFENSE Defensive tackle <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/mcginney_ja-kwon_txai" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Ja&apos;Kwon McGinney</a>, linebacker <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/walker_kedrick_lu46" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Kedrick Walker</a> and safety <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/spencer_la-modrick_9es9" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">La&apos;Modrick Spencer</a> were named to the second-team defense.
McKinney had 22 tackles in 10 games with a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss.
Spencer was third in tackles with 45. He also had an interception, eight passes defended and seven tackles for loss. Walker, who was the Week 12 KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week, finished this season with 47 tackles and eight tackles for loss.
SECOND TEAM SPECIAL TEAMS Kicker <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/burger_nestus_ljhj" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Nestus Burger</a> and return specialist <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/fball/2024-25/bios/gouldsby_kordell_9ht9" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Kordell Gouldsby</a> were second-team honorable mention selections.
Burger booted 8 of 16 field goals and 50 of 53 extra points. He&apos;s had 43 touchbacks on 65 kickoffs this season.
Gouldsby is among the KJCCC leaders in punt and kickoff returns. He is second in kickoff returns at 29.6 yards per return on 11 returns with a long of 59 yards. He had one punt return for a touchdown and averages 14.2 yards per return on 24 attempts.

(AP) — Patrick Mahomes threw for 269 yards and&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Chiefs/status/1860779368617824699">three touchdowns</a>, Spencer Shrader kicked a 31-yard field goal as time expired and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Carolina Panthers 30-27 on Sunday to reach double-digit wins for the 10th straight season.

Noah Gray caught two TD passes as the Chiefs (10-1) bounced back from last week’s 30-21 loss at Buffalo and won at the buzzer yet again in a season of narrow escapes.&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1860779327538733210">DeAndre Hopkins also had a touchdown catch</a>&nbsp;for the two-time defending Super Bowl champions, who scored on their first five possessions.

Bryce Young finished 21 of 35 for 262 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers (3-8), who had their two-game winning streak snapped. David Moore had six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Trailing 27-19, Young completed a fourth-down pass to Adam Thielen to move the chains, then went deep for the veteran receiver, who drew a pass-interference penalty on Chamarri Conner. That set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Chuba Hubbard.

Young's initial 2-point conversion toss to Moore drew a flag on Trent McDuffie, and Hubbard ran for 2 on the next play to tie the game with 1:46 left.

🏈 Chiefs top Panthers on Shrader's field goal as time expired

The NJCAA has announced it will hold the NJCAA Division I football selection show on Monday at 11:30 a.m. to unveil the top four teams that will play in the national semifinals.

The show will be streamed on the NJCAA YouTube page by clicking <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@njcaa3124/featured">here</a>.

The top four teams in the poll revealed will qualify for the national semifinals. The No. 1 team will host No. 4 and No. 2 will host No. 3.&nbsp;

Hutchinson was No. 2 in the most recent poll released last Monday. None of the teams in the top four of that poll played this weekend, so more than likely there will not be any changes come Monday.

If the top four stay the same, No. 1 Iowa Western would host No. 4 Northwest Mississippi and No. 2 Hutchinson would host No. 3 Georgia Military. Again, none of this is official until Monday at 11:30 a.m.&nbsp;

The national semifinals are scheduled to be played Friday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 8 with times to be announced on Monday.

🏈 NJCAA selection show is Monday

WICHITA, Kan. — For the first time in seven years, the Wichita State volleyball team will compete in the NCAA Tournament. The Shockers beat Florida Atlantic in the American Athletic Conference championship inside of Charles Koch Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Shockers swept the Owls, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 to claim the title.

Nickerson High School alum, Morgan Stout was named the AAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player. The redshirt senior finished with 12 kills in the championship match, and 35 for the tournament. She also finished with eight blocks in the three matches.

The Shockers are now 18-13 overall and await their seed for the NCAA Tournament, which begins Thursday, Dec. 5. The selection show is Sunday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. CST.

🏐 Shockers win AAC championship, Nickerson alum named MOP

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — DJ Giddens rushed for 143 yards, on just 15 carries, with two touchdowns, as Kansas State defeated Cincinnati 41-15 Saturday night.

Kansas State (8-3, 5-3 Big 12) snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory.

“It was an inspired win by our guys,” Kansas State coach Chris Klieman said. “I'm proud of the whole team, proud of our seniors for responding to the adversity that we’ve had.

"We knew we needed to start fast, and we did start fast. Our defense really made them one-dimensional early on, and then we did some really good things.”

Cincinnati (5-6, 3-5 Big 12) lost its fourth straight game. The Bearcats need a home win against TCU next Saturday to achieve bowl eligibility.

Avery Johnson was 13-of-23 passing for 147 yards and two touchdowns for KSU. With running back Dylan Edwards out with an undisclosed injury, Johnson also ran the ball 10 times for 81 yards and a score.

“(The coaches) definitely said it was going to be a heavier QB-run game this week,” Johnson said about the extra workload. “And you know, that’s one of the strongest suits of my game. I was just running behind my pads, kind of fitting up in some gaps when I needed to and just trying my best to follow those guys' blocks.”

Klieman was especially proud of his defense in the clutch.

“Cincinnati was 3 of 12 third down, 0 of 5 on fourth down," he said. "That was a big-time effort on fourth down especially, because there’s a handful of those that were in critical situations and those weren’t fourth-and-10 or fourth-and-12. Those were fourth-and-short to fourth-and-medium.”

Brendan Sorsby was 21 of 39 for 200 yards and two touchdowns for the Bearcats.

Trailing by 24 points, Cincinnati found the end zone on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Sorsby to Tony Johnson late in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion failed. Giddens had his second rushing touchdown on K-State's next drive.

Johnson's 8-yard touchdown pass to Will Swanson put K-State up 41-9. Sorsby then found Johnson for a 6-yard touchdown.

“We were contemplating between two plays, and (offensive coordinator Conor Riley) asked me what I wanted,” Johnson said. “And I (chose) the play we ended up calling. Riles kind of looked at me a little bit funny, and then we called it. We had two guys wide open because they didn’t know how to cover it. It was just all smiles on the sideline.”

Kansas State wasted little time grabbing a 7-0 lead on its opening drive on a 21-yard touchdown run by Johnson. That capped a five-play, 65-yard drive.

The Wildcats extended the lead to 10-0 on a 28-yard Chris Tennant field goal, and then to 13-0 on his 32-yarder.

After K-State held Cincinnati on fourth-and-8 at the KSU 33, Giddens pushed the Wildcats' lead to 20-0 when he used a spin move at the line of scrimmage and then raced 32 yards for a touchdown, capping a four-play drive.

Cincinnati got on the scoreboard with 4:17 left in the first half with a 42-yard field goal by Nathan Hawks.

Brendan Mott then intercepted a Sorsby pass at the Cincinnati 22-yard line and returned it to the 6. It was Mott's first career interception in his last home game.

“Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish it off and get the 6 points,” Mott said. “When I got to the sideline, I don't know if I got more ‘Congratulations’ or, ‘Man, you should have housed that thing.’”

Two plays later, Johnson found Tre Spivey for a 6-yard touchdown and the Wildcats led 27-3 at halftime.

Cincinnati: The Bearcats struggled to convert at crucial times. They were just 3 of 12 on third-down conversions and 0 for 5 when going for it on fourth down.

Kansas State: The score may have been lopsided in Kansas State's favor, but the Wildcats were not dominant. They out-gained Cincinnati by just 54 total yards.

GOODLAND, Kan. — For the second time in as many games, Hutchinson (5-3, 1-1) battled a road opponent into overtime.

<a href="https://hutchpost.com/posts/7f01bcda-43a5-4b6e-b9f8-28cd993375ec">Wednesday night, the Dragons opened conference play on the road against No. 1 Barton and fell just short.</a>

Saturday, the Dragons came out firing from distance and knocked down 6-of-10 first-half threes.

The Dragons built at 13-point lead just nine minutes into the contest before heading to the break ahead 39-31.

Quez Thornton (10), Bo Aldridge (8) and Bobby Cannon (7) scored 25 of Hutchinson's first-half points.

The Dragons held the Fort Hays Tech Northwest Tigers (formerly the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Tech) to just 2-of-8 shooting from three in the opening 20 minutes.

The Tigers (1-4, 0-2) caught fire from three in the second half and the Dragons went cold.

Tech hit 6-of-11 triples in the second half and held Hutchinson to 3-of-11.

The Dragons suffered a field-goal drought for six minutes and 44 seconds. Hutchinson managed only a few made free throws during that stretch while Tech went on a 13-0 run and built a six-point lead.

With 26 seconds left, John Troolin knocked down a triple to give the Tigers a 75-72 advantage.

Thornton was fouled on the other end and made both free throws before Hutchinson had to foul defensively.

Idris Williams made both from the charity stripe to put the Tigers back up three.

The Dragons called upon DJ Dudley for the game's biggest moment.

With ice in his veins, Dudley hit just the third three-pointer of the second stanza for the Dragons in the biggest possible moment.

Dudley tied the game with 3.5 seconds to play.

A long two from Tech clanked off the rim at the buzzer as the game headed for overtime.

Hutchinson shot out to a five-point lead behind a Cannon triple and Dudley layup.

Cannon finished with career highs for points (20), rebounds (13) and blocks (six).

Dudley finished with 15 points, five rebounds and six assists.

Tech made things interesting and fought back within one with 2:06 remaining.

Mikhail Abdul-Hamid quickly extinguished any Tiger momentum with his only triple of the game. A three-point specialist, Abdul-Hamid had only hit one of his previous 11 attempts.

A Francisco Monreal offensive putback with 13 seconds left pulled Tech back within one before Hutchinson iced the game at the line.

Thornton led Hutchinson with 24 points and was one-of-four Dragons in double digits.

The Dragons are now 2-1 in overtime games this season.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Devin Neal ran for 207 yards and three touchdowns, caught four passes for 80 yards and another score, and led Kansas to a 37-21 victory over No. 16 Colorado on Saturday that dealt a big blow to the Buffaloes' hopes of playing for the Big 12 title.

Jalon Daniels threw for 189 yards and a touchdown, and the Jayhawks (5-6, 4-4) scored on every offensive series but their last, keeping Colorado stars Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy candidate Travis Hunter standing on the sideline.

Sanders finished with 266 yards passing and three touchdowns, setting the Colorado single-season record with 30 TD passes, while Hunter finished with eight catches for 125 yards and two scores. But the two-way standout did little on defense — nor did anyone else wearing all-white uniforms — as the Jayhawks beat a ranked team for a school-record third straight week.

Now, the Buffaloes (8-3, 6-2 Big 12, No. 16 CFP) need to beat Oklahoma State and get some help to play for a championship in their return to the Big 12, and earn the league's guaranteed spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Jayhawks, whose back-to-back wins over Iowa State and BYU had given them newfound confidence, suddenly resemble the team that was expected to challenge for a Big 12 title — before a series of late-game collapses resulted in a 1-5 start.

They opened with Neal's 51-yard touchdown catch. They forced a three-and-out and scored again for a 10-0 lead. And when they got the ball back yet again, the Jayhawks churned down field and Neal scampered into the end zone for another score.

It was 17-0 before Hunter, who has emerged as the Heisman front-runner, took a short pass from Sanders and cut up field, deftly slipping between several Kansas defenders and going untouched 51 yards for a touchdown.

The teams traded scores into the break, and the Jayhawks held tightly to a 23-14 advantage. But the question became whether Kansas coach Lance Leipold would rue kicking field goals of 24, 23 and 25 yards rather than going for first-half touchdowns.

After the Buffaloes closed within 23-21 on Hunter's second TD catch, the Jayhawks marched 80 yards with Neal answering the score. Kansas immediately forced a three-and-out, sacking Sanders on third down — he appeared to shove an official in the back after the play — and the Neal scored again to cap an 8-plus minute drive and give the Jayhawks a 37-21 lead.

Colorado's comeback chances ended when Cobee Bryant broke up a pass in the end zone on fourth down late in the game.

Colorado will lament a defense that was simply incapable of stopping the Jayhawks. Defensive back Shilo Sanders was flagged twice and gave up several big plays, while the Buffaloes were bullied up front by the Kansas offensive line.

Kansas could improbably make a bowl game for a third consecutive season. The Jayhawks merely need to beat Baylor in their regular-season finale — what would be their season-ending fifth straight win — to earn an invitation.

The Hutchinson Community College men&apos;s basketball team concludes a four-game road swing on Saturday with a trip to Goodland to square off against Fort Hays Tech Northwest.
The Blue Dragons (4-3, 0-1) will meet the Tigers (1-3, 0-1) at 4 p.m. CT (3 p.m, MT) at Max Jones Fieldhouse in the second KJCCC contest of the season.
The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 3:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Daren Dunn (Analyst) calling the action. Hutchinson comes into action on Saturday after pushing top-ranked Barton to the brink on Wednesday in Great Bend, falling to the Cougars 94-89 in overtime.
The Blue Dragons trailed by as many as 14 points and rallied from five points down in the final minute of regulation to force overtime. Bo Aldridge had a game-high 21 points to lead the Blue Dragons, who shot 47.5 percent with eight 3-pointers and only nine turnovers.
Hutchinson&apos;s takes the seventh-ranked scoring defense into the contest on Saturday allowing 73.4 points per game.
Formerly known as the Northwest Tech Mustangs, the Fort Hays Tech Northwest Tigers played last on Thursday night, dropping a 79-75 loss to Coffeyville in Goodland. Chase Harris&apos; 3-pointer with 2:57 left in the second half pulled Tech within one point, but the Tigers couldn&apos;t complete the comeback.
One of the top 3-point shooting teams in the KJCCC, the Tigers were 7 of 19 from long range and shot 45.5 percent overall. Jon Troolin had 20 points, while Harris had 17 points to pace Tech.
Fort Hays Tech Northwest ranks fifth in the KJCCC in 3-point efficiency at 36.3 percent while averaging 10.3 makes and 28.3 attempts from distance this season. Da&apos;King Smith is shooting 46.7 percent from long range.

The Blue Dragons enter play on Saturday after a sluggish offensive three quarters against Barton on Wednesday before exploding for a 22-0 run to start the fourth quarter en route to a 59-43 win, the 43rd consecutive overall win and 29th-straight conference victory by Hutchinson.
Hutchinson&apos;s defense was exceptional in the second half holding Barton to 12 points (5 in the fourth quarter), 23.8 percent shooting and forcing 15 turnovers.

Fort Hays Tech Northwest (0-5) will have one less day to prep for the Blue Dragons. The Tigers played host to Coffeyville on Thursday in Goodland, dropping a 73-37 decision to the Red Ravens. Coffeyville jumped out quick to a 32-8 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers were led by Torrai Logan&apos;s 10 points.

NEW YORK (AP) — Outfielder Austin Hays, right-hander Kyle Finnegan and second baseman Brendan Rodgers were among 62 players who became free agents when their teams failed to offer 2025 contracts. Right-hander Jordan Romano, left-hander Patrick Sandoval and outfielders Michael Tauchman and Ramón Laureano also were among the players cut loose, many of whom would have been eligible for salary arbitration. Washington cut right-hander Tanner Rainey, its last remaining player from the 2019 World Series champions. Finnegan and Hays are former All-Stars.

Conor McGregor must pay $250K to woman who says he raped her, civil jury rules

LONDON (AP) — A civil jury in Ireland has awarded more than $250,000 to a woman who says she was raped by mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor in a Dublin hotel penthouse after a night of heavy partying. The jury on Friday awarded Nikita Hand in her lawsuit that claimed McGregor "brutally raped and battered" her in 2018. The lawsuit says the assault left her heavily bruised and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. A victory would give Shiffrin five chances to compete for win No. 100 during a North American sweep of the World Cup starting next week.

Brock Purdy will miss Sunday's game for the 49ers with a shoulder injury

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will miss Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers with a sore throwing shoulder. Purdy injured his right shoulder in last Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Purdy underwent an MRI that showed no structural damage but the shoulder didn't improve during the week and Purdy was ruled out for the game. Coach Kyle Shanahan said star defensive end Nick Bosa also will miss the game with injuries to his left hip and oblique. Left tackle Trent Williams is questionable with an ankle injury and will be a game-time decision.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals tonight announced that they have acquired infielder&nbsp;Jonathan India&nbsp;and outfielder&nbsp;Joey Wiemer&nbsp;from the Cincinnati Reds for right-handed pitcher&nbsp;Brady Singer. Kansas City’s Major League Reserve List is now at 38.

India, 27, played in a career-high 151 games in 2024 and slashed .248/.357/.392 (132-for-533) with 45 extra-base hits (.750 OPS). He drew a career-best 80 walks this season, tied for 5th most in the Majors behind only&nbsp;Aaron Judge&nbsp;(133),&nbsp;Juan Soto&nbsp;(129),&nbsp;Kyle Schwarber&nbsp;(106) and&nbsp;Shohei Ohtani&nbsp;(81). Over his four-year Major League career—all of which he’s spent with the Reds organization—he’s batted in the leadoff spot more than any other position, hitting first in 341 of his 523 career games (65.2%). Defensively, he’s posted a .978 career fielding percentage at second base, including a career-best .991 in 133 games (132) at the position this season, a mark that ranked 2nd among all qualified second basemen. India was originally drafted by the Reds 5th overall in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, just 13 spots behind his University of Florida teammate Singer, who was selected by the Royals 18th overall.

Wiemer, 25, split time between the Brewers and Reds organizations in 2024, as he was traded to Cincinnati with pitcher&nbsp;Jakob Junis&nbsp;on July 30 for pitcher&nbsp;Frankie Montas. He opened the season with Triple-A Nashville but was recalled on April 14 and played in 19 games for the Brewers around a brief stint on the Injured List. Following his trade to Cincinnati, he played in just 2 games for the Reds and ended the season with Triple-A Louisville, where he played in 30 games. This marked Wiemer’s second season in the Majors, after playing in 132 games (113 starts) for Milwaukee in 2023, when he recorded 13 home runs and 11 stolen bases. Over his two-year career, he’s played in 17 games in left field (6 starts), 123 games in center field (103 starts) and 15 games in right field (10 starts). Wiemer was originally selected by Milwaukee in the 4th round of the 2020 Draft out of the University of Cincinnati.

Singer, 28, set career highs in 2024 in starts (32), innings (179.2) and strikeouts (170). He recorded a 3.71 ERA (74 ER in 179.2 IP), after posting a career-worst 5.52 ERA (98 ER in 159.2 IP) in 2023. That marked a difference of 1.81, which was the 2nd-biggest improvement in the Majors (min. 25 starts in 2023 and 2024), trailing only&nbsp;Jack Flaherty, who lowered his ERA from 4.99 to 3.17 (-1.82). Singer has made at least 20 starts in each of the last four seasons (2021-24), becoming the third Royal in the last 25 years to do so. Since his 2020 debut, he ranks 3rd in the American League in starts (124) and 5th in innings (685.1). He’s spent the entirety of his career in the Royals organization after being selected in the 1st round (18th overall) of the 2018 Draft.
