Earl G. Mueller 88, died Tuesday August 3, 2021 Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born October 19, 1932 in Newton, Kansas to Gerhard and Johanna Ruth (Utech) Mueller. On April 12, 1958 he married Eloise Bynum at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hope, Kansas and she survives of the home.

Earl served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Newton. He also served one term on the Marion County Commission. He was a graduate of Tampa High School and attended the former St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas.

Earl was the retired President of his family oil company Cardie Oil.  He was a member of the Kansas Oil Marketers Association where he served in numerous offices.

He could be found relaxing enjoying a good western or police drama movie.

He is survived by his wife Eloise of the home; son Craig Mueller; daughter Rochelle Mueller and one grandson Earl Reece Mueller.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Norman and Paul Mueller and sister Leora Becker.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton with The Reverend Kurt Letcher presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday August 5th at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Bernice Eleanor Peel, 99, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. She was the youngest of two children born April 18, 1922, to the late Albert and Gunda (Anderson) Peel of rural Lindsborg, KS. Also preceded her in death were her sister, Madeline Keenan of Lindsborg, KS, grandparents, Christian and Lena (Peterson) Peel of New Gottland, KS who were immigrants from Denmark, and grandparents, John and Sofia (Karlson) Anderson of rural Lindsborg, KS who were immigrants from Sweden.

Bernice was baptized March 9, 1929, and confirmed in 1937 by Dr. Alfred Bergin, Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. She has remained a member since that time.

Bernice grew up on the family farm southeast of Lindsborg, KS. She attended the country school, Smoky Hill, Dist. #105, McPherson County, KS, 2 ½ miles southeast of Lindsborg.

While in her youth, she was elected Secretary/Treasurer of Friendly Valley 4-H Club. As a member, Bernice made a vanity with drawers and doors from free orange crates. This was during the Great Depression in 1936.

Upon graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1940, Bernice attended Brown Mackie School of Business. Soon she became secretary, cashier, and bookkeeper of the large Brown McDonald store in McPherson, KS. She worked there six days (48 hours) a week and loved it. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in McPherson. She also worked at Bay Petroleum Refinery in McPherson and Denver, CO where she was secretary to the superintendent. Bernice moved to San Francisco, CA, because her sister was there. She became secretary to the assistant manager at the home office of Aetna Insurance Co. for five years. While riding the bus back and forth to work, she crocheted squares for an Afghan. When leaving San Francisco, she stopped to see a friend in Sacramento. She stayed and worked as secretary in the McClatchy Newspaper business for a short time. Bernice went home to Kansas and vacationed with her parents. Afterwards, she visited a friend in Kansas City, MO and found a job there with Warner Bros. Distributing Company for several years. This company distributed films to theatres in Kansas and Missouri. Bernice enjoyed very much being Secretary/Treasurer. She learned new business, made new friends, and had a wonderful life. She returned to McPherson to retire. Bernice was a member of the McPherson Historical Society, McPherson Senior Center, and Mid Kansas Co-op of Lindsborg.

Bernice suffered from severe sciatic nerve pain during several years of her retirement, but maintained care of herself in her home with the help of friends. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching the birds fly and squirrels gather their food. Her cat “Blackie” was always by her side.

Survivors include: one nephew, Robert Ray Keenan (Virginia) of Turney, MO; two great-nephews, Terry Keenan of Richmond, MO and Sean Keenan of San Francisco, CA; three great-nieces, Tammi Keenan of Kansas City, MO, Sheila Dickey (Russ) of Kearney, MO, and Rosanna Coons (Jack) of Olathe, KS; great-great-nephews, Michael Keenan of Clarksville, TN, Calvin Keenan of N.K.C., MO, Jonathan and Brayden Dickey of Kearney, MO; and great-great-niece, Ciara Keenan of Kansas City, MO; and three great-great-great-nephews, Parker, Hudson, and Brooks Keenan of Tennessee.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, KS. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Phyllis Joan Stucky, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 3, 2021.

She was born Sept. 23, 1933, in rural Kingman County, the daughter of Merle and Hilah Field Young.  A lifetime resident of the Pretty Prairie community, she was a farmwife, a former CNA and Laundry Supervisor at Prairie Sunset Home and also worked for Kuhn’s IGA and Collingwood Elevator.

Phyllis was a member of the First Mennonite Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

On Sept. 2, 1951, she married Gerald G. Stucky at Pretty Prairie; he died Feb. 10, 2012.  Survivors include five daughters Juanita (Tom) Zerfas, Paula Sisler, Vickie (Ron) Jacques, Kellee (Randy) Goering, and Joni (Roger) Vogt; brother Roy Young; son-in-law Bruce (Dianna) Ellingson; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter Geryl Lynn “Geri” Ellingson; brothers Forest Ray Young and Daryl Young; grandchildren Leslie Ellingson, Ellea Vogt, Aryn Jacques and Andrew Goering; and a son-in-law Gary Sisler.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021 at the First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.  Burial will be in the First Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Gertie Yoder, 97, of Hutchinson, died August 3, 2021, at her home. She was born April 13, 1924, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Harmon and Lizzie (Garver) Yoder.

Gertie was a homemaker, farm wife, and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church, where she was active in the church sewing circle and enjoyed piecing quilts in her younger years.

On August 15, 1948, Gertie married Melvin A. Yoder. They shared nearly 72 years of marriage before his death on July 2, 2020.

She is survived by: her children, Morris (Gloria) Yoder of Hutchinson, Marlene (Ben) Miller of Wichita, Marilyn (Bob) Swartzbeck of Fort Worth, TX, Lorena Perodin of Westminister, CO, and Doris (Randy) Yoder of Yuma, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Orpha (Cal) Nisly Clearwater, FL, Erma Yoder, Aroda, VA; brothers, Crist Yoder of Hutchinson, and Ora (Sharon) Yoder of Kingfisher, OK.

Naverta Jane (Weber) a.k.a. Nanny, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on August 2, 2021.&nbsp; She was born January 9, 1938, in Hope, to Viola (Gruber) Weber and Jack Weber.

She attended Hope High School, graduating in 1956.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Dick Elliott on December 9th, 1956, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek.&nbsp; Naverta was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

This young couple established their first home together in Hope.&nbsp; There, they were blessed with and raised four children.&nbsp; Naverta is survived by her loving children; Blake (Roberta) Elliott, Bobbi (Darel) Anderson, Todd (Kelli) Elliott, and Jan (Jayce) Krause.&nbsp; She is also survived by her grandchildren Zachary (Christina) Krause, Tyler Anderson, Miranda (Greg) Wald, Koby Elliott, Jacob Krause, Cortni (Caleb) Kruse, Zeb (Kilynn) Elliott, Clint (Kaitlyn) Elliott, Tanner (Kasey) Anderson, and Kade Elliott; great grandchildren Cayden West, Caryss West, Ellary Krause, Halen Wald, Brayden Elliott, Abby Elliott, Quinn Kruse, Kannen Elliott, Kycen Elliott, Kamryn Anderson and Kreyton Anderson; and her siblings Joan Kerr, Linda (Donald) May, and Denny (Terry) Weber.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, brother Lawrence Weber and brother-in-law David Kerr.&nbsp;

Naverta really enjoyed life.&nbsp; She had a 43-year career being a school bus driver for the Hope school system.&nbsp; She loved going to all the sporting events and her summer women’s trip to Colorado.&nbsp; One of her fondest memories was when four of her grandsons played on the 2003 State Championship football team together.&nbsp; She proudly drove them to their games.&nbsp; All of the grandchildren and great grandchildren loved coming to her house to swim and eat her delicious meals.&nbsp; Naverta loved her swimming pool.&nbsp; She was known to give the kids money to go to the corner store for flavor ices in the summer.&nbsp;

Naverta’s family will gather with friends on Thursday August 5th from 6-8 p.m. at the Yazel – Megli Funeral Home, Herington.&nbsp; Her funeral service will be held on Friday August 6th at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek.&nbsp; She will be laid to rest in the St. John’s Lutheran, Lyons Creek Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

William Ernest “Bill” Wagler, 74, formerly of Hutchinson, died August 1, 2021, after a valiant fight against an extended illness, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.&nbsp; He was born January 31, 1947, in Hutchinson, to Albert “Al” and Bettie Jo (Butler) Wagler.

Bill graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1965, Hutchinson Community College in 1967, and received his bachelor’s degree in hotel management from Washburn University in 1970.&nbsp; He played collegiate basketball at HCC and Washburn.&nbsp; Bill worked in the hospitality industry for several years before transitioning to Dillons, where he worked for over 34 years, retiring in 2006 as a District Manager.&nbsp; Bill’s greatest joy was watching his three children play sports, as well as hunting with friends and playing golf, particularly at Prairie Dunes.&nbsp; He was a Troop Leader for Boy Scout Troop 301, in Hutchinson, for a number of years.&nbsp;

On June 6, 1970, he married Sue McCue, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared 40 years of joyful marriage before her death on September 3, 2010.&nbsp; Bill later moved to Lenexa, Kansas to be closer to his children and their families.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Bill is survived by: son, Lucas and wife Jennifer and their children, Carter, Presley, and Holden; son, Logan and wife Jennifer and their children, Brooklyn, Landon and Keaton, all of Lenexa; and daughter, MacKenzie Harvison and husband Scott and their children, Hank, Holly, and Weston, of Overland Park, Kansas.

Bill was preceded in death by: his wife, Sue; his parents; and a sister, Camille.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor John Chastain officiating.&nbsp; Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp; The family will greet friends following the service.&nbsp;

Bill was dearly loved by his family, and they are so thankful that he has been reunited with Sue, and that he is no longer in pain.&nbsp;

Roch Alan Miller, 66, passed away at his home August 1, 2021, 
surrounded by much of his family in his final days. Roch was born in 
Great Bend to Cy and Fran (Muth) Miller and lived most of his life in

Roch was a United States Marine, lifetime oilfield worker and lake 
enthusiast all his life. He was loved by his family and friends for who 
he felt the same and gave his all to make sure they all knew he would 
help them in any way possible. His faith was solid in Christ and he 
looked forward to seeing his son, Rochy in heaven along with so many 
others.

Roch is survived by his loving wife, Cori of Ellinwood; a daughter, 
Tammy Dean of Galveston, TX; a brother, Don (Wendy) Miller of 
Hutchinson; a sister, Monica (Barry) Bowers of Great Bend; a daughter in
 law, Renee Miller of Great Bend; his grandchildren, Kaleb, Aerieana, 
Elijah, Brynn, Daegan and Cambrie; and nieces and nephews. He was 
preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roch Miller II; and his 
brothers, Tim Miller and Mick Miller.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5:00 
to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home. A 
Celebration of Roch’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August

Avelina was born in Manila, Philippines on September 2, 1937, a daughter of Adriana (Javier) and Benito Hernandez. Avelina attended the Manila grade schools, Manila, Philippines. She was a member of New Legacy Church McPherson. Avelina was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked on the production line for Central Plastics. Avelina enjoyed cooking, working in her yard and gardening both vegetable and flower, and spending time with her family. Avelina Javier Hernandez was united in marriage to Eugenio B. Villanueva. This union was blessed with the birth of six children, three sons, and three daughters, Roberto, Marilyn, Rolando, Marissa, Zenaida, and Rodelio. Eugenio died in February 2001. Avelina Villanueva was united in marriage to John Duane Cunningham on July 6, 1996. John died on December 28, 2009. On July 8, 1995, she married &nbsp;Billy Hook; he passed away April 12, 2005.&nbsp; Survivors include sons Shawn Hook and companion Bailey Branstetter, Scott Short and companion Julie Tabor, Larry “Cody” Short and companion Clarissa Travis, Brandon Short and companion Savannah Whittaker; daughter Jana White and husband Kenneth; brothers Paul (Patty) Kittle and Tommy (Sylvia) Kittle; several grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, foster children, and countless friends.&nbsp; Donna was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister Lanita Jo Kelly.

Amber B. Unruh, 36, of Canton, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at her home after a two year battle with cancer.&nbsp; She was born January 20, 1985 in Moundridge, the daughter of Arlis K. and Connie L. (Nightingale) Ratzlaff.

She attended Sunflower School and was a member of Suncrest Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Galva.

Amber was a devoted homemaker and a Certified Nurses’ Assistant at the Moundridge Manor.

She was united in marriage to Maylon W. Unruh on August 5, 2012 at Lone Tree Mennonite Church in Galva.&nbsp; He survives of their home.

Other survivors include her sons, Wilson, age four and Merritt, age one, of their home; parents, Arlis and Connie (Nightingale) Ratzlaff of Canton; sister, Roxanne (Lyle) Ratzlaff, Galva; brother, Lamar (Karleen) Ratzlaff, Canton; mother and father-in-law, Kevin and Kayleen Unruh, Galva; brothers and sisters-in-law, Morgan and Emily Unruh, Galva, Jade and Karis Unruh, Canton; maternal grandmothers, Lois Nightingale and Twila Becker, both of Moundridge; and paternal grandmother, Mae Dean Unruh, Moundridge.

Geraldine Belle McAhren, 101, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Dove Estates in Goddard. She was born on September 15, 1919 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City to Howard Eugene and Bertha Belle (Pike) Giles. Geraldine married Glenn Dale McAhren on March 10, 1940 in Hopewell. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2008.

Geraldine was a member of Pleasant Plain Friends Church, HDU, Sweet Adelines and was a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed playing piano at church, knitting, quilting, attending National JUCO basketball tournaments and singing in a quartet.

She is survived by her daughter, Jerrie McAhren of Wichita; son, Stan (Sharon) McAhren of Byers; sister, Nelva Lea Denbo of Red Bluff, California; grandson, Travis McAhren of Byers; and several nieces and nephews.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; brother, Alexander Giles; and nephew, Steven Denbo.

Visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2021 and Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Pleasant Plain Cemetery.

Donald Ray Suiter, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt, KS. 

He was born on September 9, 1933 at Macksville, KS, the son of Ralph L. and Edna (Waddle) Suiter. Donald was a fourth-generation farmer on the Suiter Homestead. He married Katherine E. (Delp) on October 14, 1972 at Macksville, KS., she survives of the home. Donald was member of the Grace United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Directors for the Macksville State Bank. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean conflict, where he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. 

Donald is survived by his wife; three children from a previous marriage, Lorie Rae (David) Suiter- McGeady, Fayetteville, AR, Dru A. Suiter, Avon, IN, Carol Ann (Scott) Suiter-Hayes, Lawrence, KS; a son from his current marriage, Devin L. Suiter, Macksville, KS; brother, Charles Frederick (Jayne) Suiter, Edmond, OK; sister Phyllis (Herb) Reimer, Loveland, CO; 7 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Eugene Suiter and his sister, Bernice McMillen.

Donald is survived by his wife; three children from a previous marriage, Lorie Rae (David) Suiter- McGeady, Fayetteville, AR, Dru A. Suiter, Avon, IN, Carol Ann (Scott) Suiter-Hayes, Lawrence, KS; a son from his current marriage, Devin L. Suiter, Macksville, KS; brother, Charles Frederick (Jayne) Suiter, Edmond, OK; sister Phyllis (Herb) Reimer, Loveland, CO; 7 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Eugene Suiter and his sister, Bernice McMillen. Ron is survived by: his wife, Jeannie; daughter, Cherish McKenzie (Jason) of Andover; son, John Warren (Brandy) of Buhler; granddaughter, Julia “Juju-Bob” McKenzie of Andover; grandsons, Cole, Gavin, and Jack Petermann of Hutchinson/Buhler; sister, Jana Shockey (Tom) of Haysville; fur baby, Cuff (Cuffie to him); nieces (whom he loved as “bonus daughters”), Gia Unruh (Mike, Kaysha Whitson, and Ethan) of Galva, Lisa Liles (Jason, Chloenoelle, and Patrick) of Colorado Springs, CO, Jennifer Hemmingway (Chuck, James, and Will) of Parkland, FL; Heather Black of Apex, NC, Michelle Shultz (Jim, Peighton) of Hutchinson, Jenny Frazier (Chris, Grayson and Breckyn) of Bonner Springs; and nephew, Shane Roberts of Milroy, PA.

Growing up in Hooker, OK, Ron later graduated as a proud Greenback from Pratt High School, lettering in football, basketball, and golf. It was while living in Pratt that physical labor, taking care of animals, and driving a combine helped build what became the foundation of his strong work ethic. He was proud (and always quick) to say he was a farm boy.

He moved to Hutchinson in 1981 (ironically living out the classic “boy meets girl across the street” scenario), into a house across the street from his future wife, Jeannie, and his soon-to-be daughter, Cherish, whom he said almost burst his heart the first time she called him Daddy; he loved the sound of her laughter. Ron and Jeannie married and started building their lives together as a family on Friday the 13th of November, 1981.

Ron was a natural born and excellent salesman. If he believed in it, he could sell it, and he did it very well. He was always up for any type of competition. He would proudly be on a team with John every chance he had. Even though it’s not an official sport, they competed about who had the best dinner every night, going as far as sending each other pictures! Competitions continued with his best bud, Keith, and numerous other close friends. When on a golf course, in a bowling alley, or at a poker table, he was a happy man. He was a staunch (and loud) supporter of the Chiefs, Royals, and KU Basketball.

He was a wonderful dad, known for driving home from across the state after a job was finished in order bring his kids breakfast from McDonald’s before they left for school in the mornings so he could add to their happy meal prizes. OMG! Heaven help that they be deprived! Kids were a challenge he was up for and he was so proud of both of them. He was always telling Jeannie that Cherish got this from me or that part of John was him to a “T”. Ron loved being a “Papa” with his whole heart and was not shy when it came to bragging about his Juju-Bob. Always beautiful in his eyes, she was the cutest and the smartest granddaughter in the world! And inheriting three grandsons full of opinions and personality was pretty cool in his eyes. His contagious laugh and generosity as the family “Dad” will be greatly missed at all family gatherings.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 1-4 p.m. at Crazy Horse Sports Club and Golf Course, 922 Crazy Horse Rd., Hutchinson. If you have any pictures with Ron, the famly would love for you to share them.

Bernice Arlene Doerksen, 94, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born at the family home at Pretty Prairie, Kansas, October 1, 1926 to Edward D. and Lorene (Schwartz) Goering.

She attended Pretty Prairie schools graduating in 1944. Wanting to be a nurse but not having the finances to go into training, she accepted an aunt and uncle’s invitation to move to Wichita with them and worked as a checker at Dillon’s. After 4 years she moved to Newton to help an uncle at his jewelry store. Later she moved to Hutchinson to be a bookkeeper for American National Bank.

On March 10, 1953, Arlene married the love of her life Marvin Doerksen.

Arlene was a member of the Inman Mennonite Church and enjoyed the Women’s Mission Society and Sewing Circle. She also served as a Sunday School and midweek Bible School teacher.

Arlene loved being a homemaker and was an excellent seamstress, housekeeper, gardener and cook. She prepared and served many dinners for speakers and guests of their church. She enjoyed reading, playing games and being with family.

She also worked at Eddie’s Bake and Serve and Pleasant View Home in Inman, to help her daughters with their school expenses.

After Marvin’s passing she sold their home and moved to the Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson, and then moved to Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler, to be closer to family.

Survivors include daughters, Marilyn Daniels and Norma Doerksen; granddaughter, Melissa Daniels; brothers-in-law, Jerry Cline and James Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; granddaughter Kristi Daniels; brothers, Wilbur and Willis Goering; and sisters, Avis Morrison and Lois Cline.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., August 4, 2021, at Inman Mennonite Church, with burial to follow at North Inman Cemetery.  The service can be viewed online at www.inmanmennonite.com. Martha A. Hofmann, 68, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 26, 2021, at her home in McPherson, Kansas.

She was born July 20, 1953, in Topeka, Kansas to Neil C. and Florentina H. (Zelfer) Fordham.

Martha grew up on a farm near Havensville, Ks. and graduated from Onaga High School in 1971. She graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Education in 1975. Her first job after graduation was teaching elementary school in Munden, Ks. After teaching, she started a career in the property and casualty insurance industry. Martha started out as a rater and moved up to executive management during her career, earning CPCU and CIC certifications along the way. During this time, she worked for Iowa Mutual Insurance Company, Cimarron Insurance Company, and Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance Company.

In her spare time, Martha enjoyed cooking, arts &amp; crafts, traveling, and spending time with friends.

Martha is survived by two sons, A.J. Hofmann, Kansas City, Mo, and Tyler Hofmann, Dodge City, Ks; one brother, Cecil Fordham and wife Linda, of Onaga, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary and Patricia.

On August 21, 2004, he married Heidi S. Hedrick in Pretty Prairie, KS. Together, they shared 16 years of marriage.  

Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Heidi; and their daughter Addyson, both of Hutchinson; his parents Debra and Jeffrey; brother, Jason Matthews; grandparents, Beverly Suarez, Frank and Twila Matthews and a niece, Brooklin Matthews.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Justin and Jamie Matthews and Grandfather Andrew Suarez.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2021, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. with Pastor Ryan Raigoza officiating. Victor Nelson Ledgerwood, 86, died July 28, 2021, at Kansas Medical Center, Andover.  He was born April 9, 1935, in Jefferson, IA, to William Nelson and Berthel (Hays) Ledgerwood.

Victor served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1958.  He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator for various construction companies.  One of Victor’s most notable and instrumental projects was using the crane that dug the hole for the elevator at Strataca.  He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed smoking a good cigar.  At age 12, Victor gave his life to Christ, and was baptized.

On November 8, 1975, he married Sharon (Powell) Kennedy, in Hutchinson.  They shared almost 46 years of marriage.

Victor is survived by:  wife, Sharon of Hutchinson; children, Vickie Van Hoose of Hutchinson, Julie White (Steve) of Wichita, Michael Ledgerwood (Shelia) of Paducah, KY, Jami Martin (Mark), and Robert Kennedy (Patricia); brother, Verneil Ledgerwood (Lane) of California; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; a brother, Vernon; grandson, James Kennedy; and son-in-law, James Van Hoose.

Private funeral service will be held Monday, August 2, 2021, at Elliott Chapel.  Friends may sign his book from 9-5 Saturday and 1-5 Sunday at Elliot Mortuary. Audrey Jeane Tauer-Burdine of Park City, at the age of 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. She was born in Clay Center to Adrian M. and Grace (Darby) Crimmins.&nbsp;

Audrey retired from nursing at St. Francis and St. Joseph Hospitals. She then spent the next 16 years volunteering at Guadalupe Clinic. She had a love for people and ministering not only to their health, but also their hearts.&nbsp; Her greatest love, though, was her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Adrian and Grace Crimmins, her husbands Leroy Tauer and Clifford Burdine. &nbsp;Audrey is survived by her cat Boots, son Kenny (Susan) Tauer, daughter Adria (Dennis) McKay, grandchildren Steven (Gwen) McKay, Jennifer (Jason) Jahnke, Jeremy Tauer, and six great grandchildren, many other family and friends.

Robert Dennis Bartel, 75, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:32 a.m., Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 peacefully at McPherson Hospital. Bob was born in Goessel on May 5, 1946, a son of Roland J. and Matilda Emma (Rempel) Bartel. Bob attended Lehigh grade school and graduated from Lehigh High School, Lehigh, Kansas in 1964. He then attended and graduated from Bethel College, North Newton with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, McPherson. Through the years Bob owned and operated Bartel Insurance Company, McPherson, Kansas for 22 years. Later he went back to school and got his teaching degree and taught at Hillsboro High School for a number of years until he retired in 2008. After retirement Robert and his sister-in-law owned and operated LB Estate Sales, Newton. Bob really enjoyed life, along with cars, trains, airplanes, museums, reading, art, music, talking with people, telling stories, anything his children and grandchildren were involved in, he loved to laugh, and spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandkids. Robert D. Bartel was united in marriage to Sharon E. Goossen on August 24, 1968 in Hillsboro. This young couple established their first home together in North Newton. The couple was blessed with the birth of 4 children, 2 sons and 2 daughters, Shaun, Sheri, Shannon and Sheldon. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sharon Bartel, of McPherson; his children, Shaun Bartel and his wife Debra, of Newton, Sheri Lepard and her husband Alan, of Sylvania, Ohio, Shannon Bartel, of Newton and Sheldon Bartel and his wife Spring, of McPherson; his brother John Bartel and his wife Lila, of Topeka and his sister Mary Johnson and her husband Bill, of North Newton. Barbara A. Janette, 87, of Hutchinson, died July 28, 2021, at her home. She was born December 18, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to Cecil and Georgette (Schneider) Graham.

Barbara graduated from Byrd High School in 1950, in Shreveport, Louisiana and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Louisiana Technical College. She worked as a machinist for 23 years at Eaton Corporation. Barbara was a member of Temple Baptist Church. For many years she loved sewing and flowers. More than anything, Barbara loved her family.

On May 12, 1956, she married Jerry K. Janette in Shreveport, Louisiana. They shared 25 years together before he passed away on December 16, 1981.

Barbara is survived by: son, Mike Janette, Hutchinson; son, John Shasco (Sharon), Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Renee Goering (Terry), Hutchinson; daughter, Brigid Janette, Hutchinson; daughter, Gwen Hagan (Guy), Garden Plain; Jenipher Petroski (Steven), Springfield, New Jersey; daughter, Sally Owen (Chris), Hutchinson; son, Jay Janette (Tonja), Seattle, Washington; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Jerry Janette; and son, David Wayne Janette.
