Jane Carol Randall, 90, finally got her wish to be in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at The Oxford Grand Memory Care in Wichita, Kansas.
Jane Randall was born November 28, 1930 in Independence, Kansas. She was the youngest of three children born to Glen Hobart Hackmaster Sr. and Isabel Frances Bechtel Hackmaster. She had a wonderful childhood growing up in Independence Kansas where she was well-known as the daughter of the prominent and beloved city manager. She graduated from Independence Junior College in 1950. During those years she became an accomplished singer and participated in various choirs, singing groups and musicals. She followed her mother's side of the family to the University of Kansas where she graduated in 1952 in the first class to graduate with a Bachelors of Elementary Education Degree. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and a huge KU Jayhawk fan the rest of her life.
Jane met her husband of 66 years, Richard Dean Randall while attending KU. She taught kindergarten for 2 years in Topeka, Kansas before they were married August 1, 1954 in her hometown of Independence, Kansas. Dick and Jane made their home in Wichita, Kansas where Jane taught kindergarten for 5 years in the Wichita Public School System before retiring and having 2 daughters who were then the joy and focus of her life. Dick and Jane built the house of their dreams in the Park East Addition in east Wichita in 1958. They lived there for 61 years where they made lifelong friendships and many happy memories. They moved together to Park West Plaza Retirement Community in 2019 and then Jane moved to the Oxford Grand after Dick passed away in 2020..
Jane was a devoted wife, mother and friend who was generous and always helping others. However her life changed on November 4, 1965 when she accepted Christ as her personal Savior while reading the book "New Life in the Church" by Robert Raines. She knew she would never be the same again. From that point on her desire was to see people come to know Jesus as she had. She and Dick joined the Navigators where they discipled couples and held Bible studies in their home. She volunteered at the Union Rescue Mission Thrift Store, taught Child Evangelism Good News Clubs, Sunday School and AWANA and volunteered many hours in the Christian schools their girls attended.
Her five grandsons were the joy of her older years. She and Dick enjoyed attending their multitude of soccer and basketball games, as well as band and choir programs even into the boys' college years. She was a faithful supporter and spectator.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband Richard Randall; her parents, Glen Sr. and Isabel Hackmaster; a brother, Glen Hackmaster Jr.; and a granddaughter, Davida Busenitz.
She is lovingly survived by her two daughters, Dana (Rick) Friesen of Wichita, and Gayle (David) Busenitz of North Newton; five grandsons, Chad (Rachel) Friesen, Mitchell (Annarose) Friesen, Luke Friesen, Broxton (Jessica) Busenitz, and Braeden Busenitz; Six greatgrandchildren June, Asher, Nash and Mae Friesen, and Everest and Ezra Busenitz.
The celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday (September 27, 2021) at Community Bible Church in Bel Aire, Kansas. Memorial gifts may be designated for Milk and Honey Ministries, 5500 E. 45th St. N. Bel Aire, KS 67220.
