Jesse P. Newton, 91, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.
Jesse was born May 17, 1930, in Hale, MO, the son of Jesse B. and Hattie L. (Culberson) Newton. He graduated from Tina High School, Tina, MO in 1948. Jesse enlisted in the United States Army on March 26, 1952 and was honorably discharged on March 31, 1954. On May 7, 1954, he married Mary Helen Gibson in Hutchinson. Jesse worked for Consolidated Rebuilders and retired after 41 years. He was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson and was a member of First Church of God. Jesse loved to garden, raising flowers and vegetables. He enjoyed sharing the vegetables with friends and family. His greatest treasures were his grandchildren and loved them to pieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John W. Newton; one sister, Glendena Lance and son-in-law, Steve Boese.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Chris (Delora) Newton and Jay (Laura) Newton; three daughters, Beth Boese, Leta (Gary) Green and Mary (Barry) Homfeld; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 24, 2021, at First Church of God, 704 N. Jefferson., Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Kraft officiating. A visitation will be 1 – 7 p.m. with family greeting guests from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson. Memorials may be given to Life Outreach Program and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS 67502. The family has asked that masks be worn during visitation and memorial service.
