Darran Bret Cook, 58, of Hutchinson, died November 14, 2021, at University of Colorado Hospital. He was born November 12, 1963, in Hutchinson, to Richard and Valeria (Sutton) Cook.
Darran graduated from Buhler High School and went on to attend Hutchinson Community College and Wichita State University. He worked in home construction, along with his father and brother, for their family business, Wholesale Siding Supply. Darran loved to travel with his family and attend Chiefs games with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and loved his dogs, especially Peanut. Darran was a member of Church of the Holy Cross in Hutchinson.
On February 13, 1988, he married Susan Elizabeth Bird, at Church of the Holy Cross in Hutchinson.
Darran is survived by: wife, Susan Cook, Hutchinson; son, Harrison Cook, Wichita; daughter, Sydney Cook, Hutchinson; parents-in-law, Daniel and Beth Bird, Hutchinson; brother, Randy Cook (Julie), Andale; brother-in-law, Doug Bird (Andrea), Wichita; nephew and niece, Jake and Angela Cook; niece and nephew, Delaney and Gannon Bird; niece, Amanda Rourk; aunts and uncles, Margie and Scottie Young, Hutchinson, Donny and Sharon Bird, Lawrence, Dee and Amy Bird, Castle Rock, Colorado, Debbie and Bruce Downs, Cave Creek, Arizona, Jimmy Bird, Lawrence, Jean Crewson, Apple Valley, Minnesota, Steve and Mary Dechant, London, England; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Hayden Cook.
Eulogy will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Church of the Holy Cross followed by Mass of Christian Burial, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in North Inman Cemetery, Inman. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
