Walter ‘Gene’ Eugene Bridgess, 95, passed away May 2, 2022, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler.&nbsp; He was born February 21, 1927, in Hutchinson, to John Walter and Gertrude June (Newlon) Bridgess.

Gene was a 1945 graduate of Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Gene was the Director of Produce for Dillon Stores, retiring in 1990 with over 45 years of service.

He enjoyed wood carving, gardening, and being outdoors.&nbsp; Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman.

On June 3, 1951, he married Carol Lola Ging, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 67 years of marriage, prior to her death on December 17, 2018.

Gene is survived by:&nbsp; his children, Thomas Bridgess of Hutchinson, Anita Baker and husband Wayne of Colorado Springs, CO, and Scott Bridgess of Pottsboro, TX; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Juanita Rothweiler of Derby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.

Avandre Alexander Jones, 21, formerly of Hutchinson, died all too soon on May 1, 2022, at his home in Wichita.&nbsp; He was born July 19, 2000, in Hutchinson, to Eric Lamonte and Heather Anne (Ochs) Jones.

Avandre graduated from Hutchinson High School in 2018.&nbsp; For almost three years, he worked as a machinist for Mid-Kansas Machine, Inc., in McPherson.&nbsp; In his spare time, Avandre enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, fishing, taking spontaneous trips, gaming, and his cats. &nbsp;He was blessed with a loving close-knit family.&nbsp; In April, Avandre, and his two siblings spent 32 hours together driving to and from Florida for some special sibling time.&nbsp; During this mini-vacation, memories were made that will last a lifetime for his sister and brother.&nbsp;&nbsp; Avandre adored his one-year-old nephew, Luka Alexander, and was a proud and doting uncle.

Avandre is survived by:&nbsp; parents, Eric and Heather Jones; sister, Bria Jones; brother, TreˊVaughn Jones (Cami Brown); nephew, Luka Alexander Jones; maternal grandparents, Stanley R. He was born December 19, 1952, in St. Joseph, MO.&nbsp; Mike married Dena Perkins on August 14, 1971 (they later divorced), and served in the United States Air Force from 1971-1975, including an assignment in Madrid, Spain.

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents, Harold and Catherine Alfers; brothers, Patrick Alfers and Curtis Alfers; and sister, Jacque Jacobs.&nbsp;

Bruce Cole, 99, died May 1, 2022 just 27 days shy of his
100th birthday. He died at the Good Samaritan Home in Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born May 28th, 1922 in Sterling, the son of Arthur Thomas and Elizabeth Black Cole.

He was a US Navy Veteran in World
War II serving from 1941 to 1951. He had six years active duty and another four
in Navy Reserves. He was on several ships during active duty and several
different jobs. He married Helen (Dolly) Kahler in 1949. They never had a
family of their own but had many nieces and nephews that filled that missing
piece in their lives. He was a machinist at Krause Plow and Masters in
Hutchinson. He worked and retired from Gardner Denver in Colorado where they
lived for many years before moving back to Hutchinson.

He came from a family of 12 kids.
He is survived by one sister, Dorothy L Gradick, of Falon,

Nevada. He was preceded in death
by six brothers, Thomas Quincy, William, Lester Franklin, Arthur Thomas Jr.,
Fred, and George; four sister, Ivy Viola Ross, Naomi Pauline Birt Bottoms,
Winifred Elizabeth (Betty) Swepston and Christina Buck Puckett.

A graveside service will be held on May 11, 2022
at Memorial Park Cemetery (Rayls Hill), Hutchinson, at 11:00 am.

Shirley married Don Fisher on January 12, 1952 in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2005. Shirley worked as a receptionist for the State of Kansas SRS office until retirement and then worked as a Sales Associate at Wal-Mart. She was a past member of Abundant Harvest Church of the Nazarene and Friends Women. She enjoyed shopping for bargains, traveling, painting, gambling, bowling, doing word search puzzles, taking family to dinner and spending time with her family especially grandchildren. Jim married Ella Mae (Woods) Bettes on June 19, 1964 in Burdett. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2007. Jim enjoyed attending auctions, making model cars and watching movies. He is survived by his grandchildren, Christina Hylton of La Crosse, Kayla Hylton of La Crosse, Ivan Hurley of Wichita, Autumn and Thomas Bettes; son, Paul Bettes of Colorado; sisters, Mary Thompson of Dodge City and Nancy Garland of California; brothers, Alvin Bettes of Eucha, Oklahoma and Kenneth (Becky) Bettes of Pratt; and great grandchildren, Cherish and Kristian McAlister and Lana Waters, Scott Arnold and Andrew Mauer. Daniel (Dan) Edward Nichols was born on December 16, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri. Dan was the oldest of his siblings, Michael, Russell, and Star.

Dan joined the Navy in January 1970, where he served as an HT3-Hull Technician, Third Class. He did welding and maintenance on the USS Samuel Gompers until his honorable discharge in January 1976.

Dan had a career at Rocky Flats and had many job titles, starting out as a janitor and worked his way up to becoming a health and safety physicist in Denver, Colorado, in 1974, until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, he worked as a local truck driver pulling a reefer. Dan also worked for the State of Nebraska, where he held many roles including rest area maintenance, snow plow driver, and was a member of the road crew.

On November 21, 1987, he was united in marriage to Marguerite WandaLee (Susan) Howard. To this union came 2 children, Daniel Edward Nichols II in 1989, and Kristin Marie Nichols in 1992. Dan was a loving father to their two children and loving husband to his wife, Susan. Together they made many memories and enjoyed vacations at Glenwood Springs and Mount Rushmore. They resided in Thornton, Colorado, and Sidney, Nebraska, before their final move to Newton, Kansas, in 2008.

Dan loved the Lord and faithfully served Him. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after being baptized with his wife on September 17, 1995, in Sidney, Nebraska. He served as an elder and received his temple recommend and endowment at the Kansas City Missouri Temple, with the help of his daughter Kristin, in 2014. He baptized his daughter-in-law, Emily, at the Bear Creek Ward in Denver, Colorado in 2020. His last calling was building representative. He cleaned the church every week and made sure that it was maintained properly, until his diagnosis of cancer in 2022.

Dan loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. His children often turned to him for advice, and they say that he gave the best hugs. He always encouraged his children to read their scriptures, pray, and ask Heavenly Father when in need of help or comfort or when in pain and sorrow.

Dan departed this life on May 1, 2022, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, and his sister, Star.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Daniel Nichols (Emily) of Winfield, Kansas; daughter, Kristin Ludwig (Kyler) of Ceder Hills, Utah; two brothers, Russell Nichols (Debbie) and Michael Nichols, both of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren: Nathanial, Tsar, Shah, Reina, and Chancellor; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives, friends, and fellow members of the Newton ward.

A celebration of life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at the LDS Church in Newton.

Patricia Jane Hostetler, 76, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 3:11 a.m., Sunday, May 1st, 2022 at Via Christi ,St. Francis , Wichita.

Patricia was born in Stafford, on May 6, 1945, a daughter of Mabel (Chiles) and Robert Claire Jimison. Pat attended Stafford grade school and graduated from Stafford High School, Stafford, in 1963. She then attended and graduated from Emporia State College, Emporia, Kansas with her Bachelors Degree in Business. Through the years Pat worked for N.C.R.A, McPherson, Kansas, Johnson Music Center and Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson. Pat enjoyed Kansas State sports especially football, reading, ,music, camping, traveling, going on little adventures with her daughters, her pets and spending time with her friends and family. Patricia J. Jimison was united in marriage to Lynn Hostetler on March 14, 1971 in Stafford, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Inman, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Deborah and Diane. She is survived by her children, Deborah Hostetler, of McPherson, and Diane Walters and her husband Darren, of Beloit; her brother, Conrad Jimison, of Overland Park. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lynn Hostetler. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel in McPherson. Patricia Jane Hostetler, 76, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 3:11 a.m., Sunday, May 1st, 2022 at Via Christi ,St. Francis , Wichita.Patricia was born in Stafford, on May 6, 1945, a daughter of Mabel (Chiles) and Robert Claire Jimison. Pat attended Stafford grade school and graduated from Stafford High School, Stafford, in 1963. She then attended and graduated from Emporia State College, Emporia, Kansas with her Bachelors Degree in Business. Through the years Pat worked for N.C.R.A, McPherson, Kansas, Johnson Music Center and Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson. Pat enjoyed Kansas State sports especially football, reading, ,music, camping, traveling, going on little adventures with her daughters, her pets and spending time with her friends and family. Mary Lee Wineinger, age 80, of Chanute formerly of Marion and Hillsboro, passed away on May 2 after an 18-month struggle with pancreatic cancer. Mary Lee was born on February 4, 1942, to Ellis (Jack) and Fronie Freeborn in Florence. Mary Lee graduated from Florence High School. She married the love of her life, Earl Wineinger, in 1962; they had three children and lived in Kansas and Virginia. Mary Lee also lived in Colorado before returning to live in Chanute. She was a member of the First Baptist Church there and the WOW Fellowship. A determined and task-oriented daughter, wife, mom, grandmother great-grandmother and friend, Mary Lee loved the joy of family life, the hard work of farming, and the pleasures that nature offers. She will be remembered for her homemade special cinnamon rolls and chocolate sheet cake. In addition to livestock farming, Mary Lee held positions in medical offices and Prairie View Mental Health Services in Marion, KS. After enjoying years of supporting Earl's work in vocational agriculture and FFA activities, upon his death, Mary Lee established a memorial scholarship for a Marion County student to honor Earl. It has now been renamed and will continue as the "Earl and Mary Lee Wineinger Memorial Scholarship." Mary Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, her parents Ellis (Jack) and Fronie Freeborn, and brother, Jackie Freeborn. Hal was a farmer in the South Hutchinson area his entire life.&nbsp; He served in the United States Air Force and graduated from Kansas State University with a Masters Degree in Agricultural Engineering.&nbsp; Hal was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and served on various committees and activities within the church.&nbsp;

He loved antique tractors and going to shows to see them.&nbsp; Hal also enjoyed square dancing.

Linda Sue Simmons, 73, of Hutchinson, died May 1, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village. She was born March 26, 1949, in East St. Louis, IL, to Ralph and Louise (Pappas) Graves.

Linda was a member of Full Gospel Church and was a faithful Christ-follower who never ran out of love for others. In addition to being a homemaker, she provided daycare in her home for many beloved children.

On September 16, 1968, Linda married Carl A. Simmons, in Hutchinson. He died August 1, 1988.

She is survived by: her daughter, Paula Ward; son, Terry Simmons (Terrie) of Wichita; granddaughter, Katrina Hopkins (Shawn) of Hutchinson; siblings, Margie Smith of California, Gary Graves (Leona May) of Seattle, WA, John Graves of Hutchinson, Gloria Buck of Greenville, IL, Richard Graves (Kendall) of Tulsa, OK, Tina Tomlin (Tim Collins) of Oklahoma City, OK, Seberina Miller (David) of Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

Rose Marie Bloomberg, 94, of Assaria died Friday, April 29, 2022 at her rural Assaria home.  Rose was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandma. 

 Rose was born January 26, 1928 in Lindsborg. She is the daughter of the late Elmer Carl and Freda Elvera (Varnlof) Lindholm.  She married Elton E. Bloomberg on January 11, 1959 at Lindsborg.  

Rose was a lifelong Lindsborg and Assaria area resident.  She was a wife, mother, and homemaker.  Rose was a member of Salemsborg Lutheran Church. Her many hobbies included  watching her great grand-daughters play and grow up, eating breakfast at Neighbors Cafe in McPherson, watching the ducks at McPherson Pond, Maxwell tours, raising a garden and planting flowers, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her daughters: Maxine Bloomberg of Lindsborg; and Darlene K. Bloomberg of Assaria; sister: Dorothy E. Brooks of Salina; granddaughter: Liberty Patterson (Jason) of Assaria; and great granddaughters: Callie Patterson of Assaria, and Carly Patterson of Assaria.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Elton; and sister: LaVann Lindholm.

Lucy was born to Alice (Wilson) and Walter Glenn Snell on November 28th, 1932, in Reno County. After graduating from high school, she met the love of her life Lawrence Michael (Peanuts) Orth. The two were married on June 5th, 1954, in Kingman, Kansas.&nbsp;

Lucy’s life was devoted to her husband Lawrence and their two children Lisa and Tim. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Church and Saint Ann’s Alter Society. From a young age she was lover of animals as granddog Jax will always hold a piece of her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence. Lucy is survived by daughter Lisa Ravens (Brent), son Tim Orth (Karyn) and grandchildren Brendon Ravens, Kalynne Bready (Logan), Andrew Daugherty (Ashley), Dayton Daugherty, Brandon Daugherty and Hayden Daugherty.&nbsp;

Warren graduated from Garfield High School in 1961 and later from St. Mary of the Plains College. He was the office manager for the Clark County FSA. Warren loved to garden, fish, and hunt. He was the president of the Hutchinson Community Garden for 20 years. Warren was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson.

On May 6, 1967, he married Annie Fairchild. They shared 57 years together.

Warren is survived by: wife, Ann Boman, Hutchinson; son, Ryan Boman (Dawn), Kansas City; grandson, Ross Boman, Hutchinson; and granddaughter, Kyria Ann Boman, Manhattan.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Dorothy Lutz, Richard Boman, Don Boman, and Leonard Boman.

Margaret Sue Schattak, 84, of Moundridge, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Pine Village.&nbsp; She was born June 21, 1937 in Dothan, West Virginia, the daughter of Charles C. and Alta (Lyons) Roop.

She graduated from Collins High School in Oak Hill, West Virginia, with the class of 1954.&nbsp; Margaret later served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1958, attaining the rank of Airman 2nd&nbsp;Class.

Margaret was united in marriage to Glenn A. Schattak on April 12, 1968 at Miami, Oklahoma.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on June 1, 2016.

She worked as a secretary for Cooperative Grain and Supply in Hillsboro, retiring in 1995.

Margaret enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, listening to music and watching true crime TV shows.&nbsp; She loved her granddaughters and great-grandkids and adored being called “GiGi”.

She is survived by her daughter, Liane Cope and husband, Tracy of Moundridge; granddaughters, Lindsy Phillips and husband, Shawn of Park City, and Codi Cusick and husband, Brett of Mulvane; great-grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Addison and Troy Phillips, and Branch Cusick; and sister, Marty Isaac of Newton.

Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, James, Bobby, Betty June, Patricia Ann, and Charles Allen.

Cremation is planned with graveside services to be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2022 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church Cemetery with military honors.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Margaret Sue Schattak, 84, of Moundridge, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Pine Village.&nbsp; She was born June 21, 1937 in Dothan, West Virginia, the daughter of Charles C. and Alta (Lyons) Roop.She graduated from Collins High School in Oak Hill, West Virginia, with the class of 1954.&nbsp; Margaret later served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1958, attaining the rank of Airman 2nd&nbsp;Class.Margaret was united in marriage to Glenn A. Schattak on April 12, 1968 at Miami, Oklahoma.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on June 1, 2016.She worked as a secretary for Cooperative Grain and Supply in Hillsboro, retiring in 1995.Margaret enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, listening to music and watching true crime TV shows.&nbsp; She loved her granddaughters and great-grandkids and adored being called “GiGi”.She is survived by her daughter, Liane Cope and husband, Tracy of Moundridge; granddaughters, Lindsy Phillips and husband, Shawn of Park City, and Codi Cusick and husband, Brett of Mulvane; great-grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Addison and Troy Phillips, and Branch Cusick; and sister, Marty Isaac of Newton.Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, James, Bobby, Betty June, Patricia Ann, and Charles Allen.Cremation is planned with graveside services to be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2022 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church Cemetery with military honors.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Twylla L. (Locke) Suiter, age 87, passed away on May 4, 2022 at Parkwood Village, Pratt. 

 She was born on Mar. 19, 1935 at Liberal, the daughter of Clifford and Goldie E. (James) Locke.  She was a homemaker and life-long resident of Macksville.  She attended the Brown-Mackey School of Business at Hutchinson. 

 On Aug. 2, 1953, she married Rollin “Bud” Suiter at Macksville, he passed away on Nov. 13, 2021. Twylla was a member of the Macksville Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship, Red Hat Ladies and served many years on the Stafford County Election Board. 

 Survivors include her daughter, Tamara Harrell, Hutchinson; a son, Randy (Debbie) Suiter, Macksville; a sister, Donna Jo James, Hutchinson; 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Suiter and a sister, Judith Lynn Locke. 

Visitation will be on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 1-7 P.M., Friday at Minnis Chapel, Macksville, with family present from 1-3 P.M.  Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Macksville Christian Church, Macksville, with Pastors Jacob Russell and Tom Walters presiding.  Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville.

Lewis Arthur Hearn, 78, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born April 12, 1944 in Pratt, to George Clay and Dora Martha (Hannawald) Hearn. Lewis married Janet Sue Chezem in Pratt, on September 1, 1973. They were married for 48 wonderful years. He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt. Lewis graduated Pratt High School in 1962. After high school he attended Pratt Community College, Wichita State University, and Ft. Hays State University. Lewis was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and Kansas Army National Guard. While serving in Vietnam as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and chaplain’s assistant, he earned a Bronze Star and Air Medal for meritorious service. Lewis performed small engine repairs at Hearn Sales and Service for many years. After that he enjoyed working in his extensive home shop creating small wooden building replicas for R&amp;R Creations. He ended his working career at First Care maintaining small health care appliances. Lewis was an exceptional woodworker, making heirloom quality furniture projects for both family and friends. He even remodeled his personal home to include making all of the kitchen cabinetry and constructing the three story garage/workshop. He was also passionate about building realistic model railroad cars and scenery. Lewis is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons, George Hearn of Arapahoe, Nebraska and David Hearn of Pratt; daughter, Sara Blubaugh (Joe) of Silver Lake; grandchildren, Colton Hearn (Kearney, Nebraska), Quorra Hearn (Arapahoe, Nebraska), and Jaxon and Carly Blubaugh (Silver Lake, Kansas); sisters, Georgie (Hearn) Fowler and Rosalie (Hearn) and Richard Rose, both of Pratt; sister-in-law, Sandy (James) Riggs of Lincoln, Nebraska; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Dora Hearn and brother-in-law, John Fowler. Cremation has taken place. Karl E. Otto, 89, of Lyons, passed away April 28, 2022, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. He was born August 26, 1932, in Richfield, the son of John Wilbur and Hazel Petersen Otto. 

Karl has resided in Lyons since 1955, formerly of Bristol, Colorado. He graduated from Granada High School, Granada, Colorado with the class of 1950 and attended Colorado A&amp;M University. Karl received an associates degree in agriculture from Lamar Community College in Lamar, Colorado. 

He was a livestock order buyer and rancher. Karl was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, member of the Kansas Livestock Association, and volunteer for the Lyons Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and collecting antique toys and metal banks. 

On July 25, 1954, Karl was united in marriage with Mary Frances Crandall in Little River. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his three children, Karen Pendlay and husband Greg of Emporia; Jeff Otto and wife Judy of Wichita; and Mark Otto and wife Lisa of Grand Canyon, AZ; daughter-in-law, Carol Coffman of Emporia; sister, Helen Dorris of Lamar, CO; eight grandchildren, Meredith Wagner and husband Jake of Americus; Michelle Pendlay of Emporia; Sean Otto and wife Amy of Kansas City; Aaron Otto and wife Molly of Emporia; Brandon Otto and Anessa of Lyons; Drew Otto and wife Brandi of Lyons; Mark Tyler Otto and wife Riley of Marysville, OH;&nbsp; and Jenna Otto of Grand Canyon, AZ; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Karl is preceded in death by his parents; son, Karl Otto II; and two brothers, Milton and Harley Otto. 

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Rob Bolton officiating. Burial will follow at the Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Elna Florence Haubold, age 101, passed away April 28, 2022. She was born February 6, 1921 to Conrad Carl and Emma S (Swanson) Blomberg, in Ellsworth County. That same year she moved with her family to a farm near Marquette, KS. 

After graduating from Falun High School she was employed in McPherson, for several years. In 1948 she moved to Denver, CO where she married Dennie Donaldson, he passed away 8 years later. In 1957, Elna married Frank Haubold. Elna worked as a partner in her husband’s trucking business in the Denver area for 35 years. Due to Frank’s health they moved to Marquette in August of 1995. Frank passed away on January 20, 1996.

Elna was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; Dennie Donaldson and Frank Haubold, brother; Leslie Blomberg, sisters; Mildred Nelson, Ethel Boggs, Ilene Andrew, Vernice Horn, and Baby Ruby, as well as nieces; Debra Sue Beck and Verna James. 

Survivors include nephews; Laurence (Cheryl) Andrews, of Banks, AL; LeRoy (Julie) Andrews of Tonganoxie; Lyle (Amy) Andrews of Kansas City; Lavern (Cari) Andrew of Holton; Bradley Horn of Easton, PA; nieces; Sheryl Black of Brookville; Shirley (Gary) Donley of Kanopolis; and Special friends of the Haubold family, Steve (Lucille) Peterson of Thorton, CO.

Visitation will be from 5-6pm, Monday May 2, 2022 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

On Tuesday, April 26,2022, Ida Mae ( Hooker) Gisick, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 95 years young.

Ida was born on August 16,1926, on the family farm Northwest of Plevna, to become the 6th child of 8 children born to George Henry and Letha Caroline ( Hunt) Hooker.&nbsp; She was delivered by Doctor Horton.

She attended Hazen Grade School, transferred to Plevna Grade School and graduated from Plevna High School to complete her education.

Ida Mae's older brother, Charles, introduced her to his friend Gene K. Gisick.&nbsp; The two of them were married November 8, 1947, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hutchinson.&nbsp; This strong union produced 5 children:&nbsp; Tom, Marty, Scott, Mary, and Susan.&nbsp; Gene and Ida Mae were blessed with 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many honorary grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ida is survived by sons Tom (Carol), Marty ( Rhonda), Scott ( Janet) and daughters Mary ( Andy) and Susan, and two sisters Marie and Fern.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, brothers Charles, John and George Jr., sisters Frances and Myrtle, granddaughter Stefanie, daughter-in-law Debbie, and son-in-law John Palmatier.

Donald Richardson, 87, passed from this earth on April 29, 2022. He was born March 13, 1935, in Alma, Nebraska, to Clive and Nellie Richardson.

Donald married Marlene Armstrong on December 25, 1953, in Burlington. He was employed by Cessna-Eaton for 43 years. After retirement Donald enjoyed working at First National Bank of Hutchinson for 15 years. A long time member of Eastwood Church of Christ, he served as a deacon and then elder for 20 years.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Irma Decker.

He is survived by: wife, Marlene, of the home; children, Keith Richardson, Hutchinson; Beth Reamer (Mike), Wichita; Ruth Vogt (Dick), Council Bluffs, Iowa; Jeff Richardson (Vicky), Hutchinson; Kevin Richardson (Karla), Liberty, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Donna Montague, Kings Lake, Nebraska; and brother, Larry Richardson, Lincoln, Nebraska.

There will be a private family graveside service at Peace Creek Cemetery. A celebration of life gathering will be from 2 to 4 pm Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 8 am to 5 pm at Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Donald Richardson  |1935-2022|  

Rowena Rose Chaple, 68, of Wichita, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital.&nbsp; She was born October 16, 1953 in Newton, the daughter of William Oscar and Phyllis Rose (Jamison) Brown.

Rowena graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1971.&nbsp; She later attended nursing school at Hesston College, and eventually graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

She worked at the Newton KMart for a few years, until its closing.&nbsp; Rowena then began working for the Wichita Eagle newspaper, where she worked as the Advertising Executive Accountant for 25 years, retiring in 2011.&nbsp; She later owned and operated her own flea market at K-15 Highway and Pawnee, with her husband Willie.

She was united in marriage to Willie Chaple on December 1, 2007 in Wichita, Kansas.

Rowena loved playing golf and was involved in the Newton Golf Club.&nbsp; She enjoyed reading, especially mystery novels, crafting and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Willie of Wichita; three children, Jennifer (David) Young of Newton, Michelle (Mark) Merritt of Missouri, Brian (Megan) Funk of Newton; four step children, Sarah Johnico of Wichita, Aubrey Chaple of Wichita, Zachary (Angie) Chaple of McPherson, and Rachel (Abu) Hassan of Park City; &nbsp;23 grandchildren; three surrogate grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mandy (Terry) Botterweck of Newton; and three brothers, Douglas (Frances) Spencer of Kihei Maui, Hawaii, Stanley (Jill) Brown of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jerry Brown of Arkansas.

Rowena was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Myrl Brown and Phillip Cope.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Kingdom Life Ministries, Hesston.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Hesston Cemetery.&nbsp; Family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rowena Rose Chaple, 68, of Wichita, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital.&nbsp; She was born October 16, 1953 in Newton, the daughter of William Oscar and Phyllis Rose (Jamison) Brown.Rowena graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1971.&nbsp; She later attended nursing school at Hesston College, and eventually graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.She worked at the Newton KMart for a few years, until its closing.&nbsp; Rowena then began working for the Wichita Eagle newspaper, where she worked as the Advertising Executive Accountant for 25 years, retiring in 2011.&nbsp; She later owned and operated her own flea market at K-15 Highway and Pawnee, with her husband Willie.She was united in marriage to Willie Chaple on December 1, 2007 in Wichita, Kansas.Rowena loved playing golf and was involved in the Newton Golf Club.&nbsp; She enjoyed reading, especially mystery novels, crafting and traveling.She is survived by her husband, Willie of Wichita; three children, Jennifer (David) Young of Newton, Michelle (Mark) Merritt of Missouri, Brian (Megan) Funk of Newton; four step children, Sarah Johnico of Wichita, Aubrey Chaple of Wichita, Zachary (Angie) Chaple of McPherson, and Rachel (Abu) Hassan of Park City; &nbsp;23 grandchildren; three surrogate grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mandy (Terry) Botterweck of Newton; and three brothers, Douglas (Frances) Spencer of Kihei Maui, Hawaii, Stanley (Jill) Brown of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jerry Brown of Arkansas.Rowena was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Myrl Brown and Phillip Cope.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Kingdom Life Ministries, Hesston.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Hesston Cemetery.&nbsp; Family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Christine May “Chris” Seefeldt, 74, died April 30, 2022, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie.&nbsp; She was born May 25, 1947, in Stourbridge, West Midlands, England, to Edward Rupert and Louisa May (Parry) Hayman.&nbsp;

Chris graduated high school in England.&nbsp; She was the former Pretty Prairie EMS Director, and retired after over 30 years of service as the bookkeeper for Strohl Oil.&nbsp; Chris enjoyed playing golf, was an avid reader, and served on the Pretty Prairie Library Board. Her sense of humor and feisty personality will be missed by her family and friends.

On April 5, 1969, she married Robert Allen “Bob” Seefeldt, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They met in Chicago, IL, while Bob was serving in the military.&nbsp; He died January 10, 2017, after they shared almost 48 years of marriage.

Chris is survived by:&nbsp; daughters, Wendy Brown (David) of Hutchinson, and Gillian “Gill” Ledbetter of Buhler; sister, Patricia “Pat’ Patrick, of Stourbridge, West Midlands, England; grandchildren, Allison McMurry, Baylie Rayl, both of Hutchinson, Brittany Rayl of Midland, TX, Emily Ledbetter of Hutchinson, Evan Ledbetter of Buhler, and David Robert Brown (Chelsey) of Derby; great-grandchildren, Reese Cooper and Lily Arnold; mother-in-law, Donna Seefeldt Blevins of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Cathy Lawrence of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; sister, Brenda Clarke; father-in-law, Robert W. Seefeldt; son-in-law, Charlie Ledbetter, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Julie Smith.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating.&nbsp; Private inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
